[0:04]amlaykum say I know um that when we pray Friday prayer we're
[0:12]not supposed to pray like the dar prayer right after but I
[0:18]asked here they said you're not supposed to and then that on
[0:20]the other the big one they said that it's supposed to be
[0:25]3.4 four miles away or something that we have to pray the
[0:28]dar prayer after and it's getting me confused like everyone says something
[0:31]different I just want to make sure of that respected brothers and
[0:49]sisters I welcome you sincerely to our Q&A session And I truly
[0:56]look forward to all the questions that you have regarding.
[1:00]One of the prayers that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has mandated on
[1:06]us in the religion of Islam is the Friday prayer.
[1:08]Now when the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasall is present or one of
[1:16]the imams of B it becomes mandatory on every individual who's able
[1:20]to attend the frier the Friday prayer to attend.
[1:24]It's mandatory.
[1:23]So let's say you lived in Medina 14 centuries ago and the
[1:29]prophet sallallahu alaihi is leading the prayer.
[1:30]You have to attend it.
[1:34]Unfortunately some companions would not attend it.
[1:35]They would skip until Allah had to reveal and criticize them.
[1:43]They go, they do their business and you're standing just with your,
[1:49]you know, family members and maybe a handful of companions who would
[1:52]show up.
[1:53]But this is when the prophet is present or one of the
[1:56]imams during the the occultation of im it's highly recommended for us
[2:06]to attend the Friday prayer.
[2:07]But is it mandatory such that if you skipped it you committed
[2:14]a sin?
[2:12]No.
[2:12]If you attend it you get a great reward from Allah.
[2:18]But if you don't attend it you're not committing a sin.
[2:22]Now the sister is asking what about if you come to the
[2:29]J on a Friday any J here in the area and you
[2:33]pray which is how many two is two takes the place of
[2:48]the prayer the prayer is how many four.
[2:51]So how is two we're missing two how are those two other
[2:56]units compensated the two sermons the two so you have two and
[3:04]two sermons you get four now by default if you pray and
[3:07]the one who leads the prayer is leading it correctly you don't
[3:14]have to pray because takes the place of however the reason why
[3:21]we encourage encourage people in the community to pray just as a
[3:25]recommendation, as a precaution, not as an obligation is because one of
[3:35]the requirements for to be valid is there must be a minimum
[3:42]distance between two.
[3:42]That distance as the hadith states is a f was a unit
[3:50]of measurement that people used at the time of the Islam's revelation.
[3:54]It's about 5 kilometers about about 3 point something miles 3.1 miles.
[4:01]Now given that we're not exactly sure whether the distance between let's
[4:09]say this J and other mosques in the community is 3.1 miles.
[4:13]Let's say we have a doubt it's right on the border like
[4:16]the next J that they have.
[4:20]It's kind of right on the border for this distance because we're
[4:23]not sure.
[4:24]As a precaution, people pray in between and that's just out of
[4:33]precaution.
[4:33]Do you have to do that?
[4:37]No.
[4:35]You're not obligated to pray.
[4:38]Out of precaution, if you'd like to do it, it's fine.
[4:44]So, this is the reason why some people will pray.
[4:48]So you can if you want to out of and precaution but
[4:50]if you don't want to that's fine.
[4:53]Yeah your prayer is accepted even if you skip because remember we
[4:58]said by default once you pray you don't have to pray.
[5:01]It's just because of this doubt about the distance that some people
[5:05]would prefer to pray out of precaution.
[5:10]son sa the first anonymous question is paraphrasing how does one properly
[5:17]manage extreme forms of anxiety what is Islam's take on anxiety how
[5:22]can we manage extreme forms of anxiety first of all my dear
[5:29]brothers and sisters if it's serious to the point where it needs
[5:36]to be clinically treated do see a therapist and alhamdulillah we have
[5:39]good therapists in the community you can go to Muslim therapists or
[5:44]non-Muslim therapists who have good reviews and their psychological services, their counseling
[5:49]are very good.
[5:51]I do recommend that sometimes anxiety if it gets too severe, you
[5:55]do need to see a therapist.
[5:57]Having said that, what are some recommendations to help people who suffer
[6:04]from anxiety?
[6:05]Number one, try to figure out what is the source of your
[6:11]anxiety.
[6:11]Is it is it an event that happened in your life in
[6:14]your family around the world?
[6:18]I know for instance some people during the last few months when
[6:21]we saw the gruesome wars in Lebanon and in Gaza there were
[6:26]some people going through anxiety.
[6:28]It could be a health crisis.
[6:29]It could be a financial crisis.
[6:31]It could be a family problem.
[6:32]Try to pinpoint what could be causing your anxiety.
[6:37]That's step step number one.
[6:39]Knowing the cause helps you figure out the solution.
[6:46]Number two, if it's a trial that you're going through, realize that
[6:51]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is trying you and he's there.
[6:54]He'll help you.
[6:57]Many times we feel like our lives are falling apart.
[7:01]The universe is falling apart and that's why you have a sense
[7:04]of anxiety.
[7:05]What's going to happen in the future?
[7:06]What am I going to do tomorrow, next year, next month?
[7:09]Am I going to get a job?
[7:12]Am I going to get married?
[7:13]Am I if this is going to happen?
[7:17]It's okay.
[7:16]Allah runs the whole universe.
[7:18]It's fine.
[7:19]He'll take care of you.
[7:22]Even if you're going through a difficulty, Allah will take care of
[7:26]you.
[7:26]You can have a family member who's suffering.
[7:28]It's okay.
[7:29]Allah will get them out.
[7:31]You have to be patient.
[7:31]Could be a year, two years, three years, four years.
[7:35]But Allah will give you that relief.
[7:37]Once a brother came to the office years ago to see me.
[7:42]I told him, "What's what are you struggling with?" He told me,
[7:48]"Say, I'm suicidal.
[7:47]I can't take it anymore.
[7:51]I really am considering taking my life." Why?
[7:53]What happened?
[7:55]He told me, "I developed a rare disease.
[7:58]I had to get surgery done." and they put a tube in
[8:00]my stomach and my life changed.
[8:03]I used to love sports.
[8:05]I was very active.
[8:04]I can't do that anymore with the tube.
[8:08]I spent months in the hospital.
[8:11]That took a toll on my mental health.
[8:14]But when I left, I realized everyone around me changed.
[8:19]My own brothers make fun of me.
[8:21]They don't want to play with me.
[8:25]My cousins, they mock me.
[8:26]People don't take me seriously anymore.
[8:29]People don't respect me anymore because of my disability, because of my
[8:33]illness.
[8:33]I can't take it anymore.
[8:37]I've seen therapists.
[8:37]I've seen psych.
[8:39]I can't just I can't continue.
[8:41]I'm thinking of suicide.
[8:42]When I looked at this abuse that this person is going through
[8:49]his family members and some of his friends, immediately I referred him
[8:52]to the Quran.
[8:52]That's why we say the Quran is your book of healing.
[8:56]I told him, "Have you read the story of Prophet Ysefam?" Who
[9:03]hasn't?
[9:04]Yuzar, right?
[9:03]He said, "Yeah, but what's how is that relevant?" I told him,
[9:10]"What happened to young Yousef?" His own family members ganged up on
[9:14]him.
[9:15]They decided to kill him.
[9:16]Then they said, "No, let's beat him up.
[9:18]Then they threw him in the well.
[9:19]Then they sold him as a slave.
[9:20]Misery after misery inflicted by his own brothers.
[9:24]and his brothers are not people from the street.
[9:29]They're who the sons ofam the grandsons of Ibraim.
[9:32]That makes their crime even more serious.
[9:35]Ysef did not expect that from his own brothers.
[9:39]Then the predicament with started.
[9:42]Then they put him in jail.
[9:43]Misery after misery after misery.
[9:47]But then what happened?
[9:48]How did the story end?
[9:49]At age 40, he becomes the minister of Egypt.
[9:52]Allah unites him with his family.
[9:55]His brothers apologize.
[9:56]Allah compensates him.
[9:59]Why does God tell you that story?
[10:00]Just to kill time.
[10:02]Allah is telling you if you're going through abuse in your own
[10:07]family, be patient.
[10:06]It's okay.
[10:07]I'll take care of you.
[10:08]Be patient a year, two years, three years.
[10:10]It could be a few months, could be a few years.
[10:13]Prophet Ysef, it took three decades.
[10:15]But eventually, Allah subhana wa ta'ala gave him that relief and he
[10:19]compensated him.
[10:22]Realize Allah is there by your side.
[10:24]Believe me, that helps with your anxiety.
[10:27]If you fear what's going to happen in the future, you feel
[10:33]like you don't have job security, financial security, Allah, brothers and sisters,
[10:37]not your company.
[10:40]The problem that we fall into is we think our company is
[10:46]our sustainer.
[10:45]If I lost that job, that's it.
[10:48]It's over for me.
[10:51]I'm doomed.
[10:50]Habibi, that company is not your Razak.
[10:53]Last time we checked with the Quran, the Quran says Allah is
[10:58]the Razak.
[10:57]He'll take care of you.
[10:59]Not this company, another company.
[11:02]There's millions of ways Allah can send you your sustenance.
[11:04]It's okay.
[11:07]Assure yourself God will take care of you.
[11:10]So that's how we can control anxiety.
[11:15]Third step, there are practical vikar that you can do to help
[11:20]you with your anxiety.
[11:21]And one of the best is the following.
[11:25]Morning before sunrise.
[11:26]So let's say between 5:30 and 7, okay, with the time change,
[11:32]add an hour to that.
[11:35]Before sunrise, take a deep breath and say this seven times.
[11:41]This does wonders in calming you down, in giving you the ability
[11:46]to control your anxiety.
[11:57]In the name of Allah, the compassionate, the merciful.
[12:01]There is no power.
[12:02]Nothing happens except by the will and power of Allah.
[12:06]Say that seven times, taking a deep breath.
[12:10]I guarantee you, you will see instant results.
[12:14]You'll feel a spiritual power.
[12:17]Now remember, you will not conquer anxiety overnight.
[12:22]Be patient.
[12:22]It takes some time.
[12:25]But with this, Allah subhana t will give you the power to
[12:29]control anxiety.
[12:31]Number four, there's a dua called dua.
[12:33]It starts with this phrase.
[12:39]Google it's on duas.org.
[12:42]Read this dua.
[12:43]It teaches you that when there's a knot in your life and
[12:48]you're stuck and there's no way out and that's causing you anxiety,
[12:50]Allah will find a way out for you.
[12:53]This dua is very beautiful and we have many other duas even
[12:57]dua dua is if you read it with reflection it really gives
[13:04]you so much peace my dear brothers and sisters.
[13:09]So these are some practical steps to help us overcome our anxiety
[13:13]inshallah.
[13:14]By the way, I want you to know one thing, one last
[13:18]point.
[13:19]When you go through anxiety and you're trying to have faith and
[13:23]you're doing your best to stay strong, every second that you're suffering
[13:27]from, Allah is writing a good deed for you.
[13:31]Just know that Allah will compensate you.
[13:34]The hadith states sometimes one moment of sadness or anxiety washes your
[13:40]sins.
[13:40]On the day of judgment, you meet Allah and you see you
[13:45]have a mountain of sins.
[13:45]Allah will tell you, look mountain, you see those sins?
[13:51]Yes, I've forgiven you.
[13:54]Why, ya Allah, what did I do?
[13:57]Allah says, remember those days you went through that anxiety and you
[14:02]suffered.
[14:00]because of that suffering, I'm going to forgive all these sins.
[14:05]That's the rahma of Allah subhana wa ta'ala.
[14:08]Any pain you go through, Allah will compensate you.
[14:14]Just have faith.
[14:12]Hold on.
[14:14]Don't give up.
[14:17]Now, we're looking for a question from the brother's side.
[14:27]Um, I was wondering if you surround yourself with a group of
[14:34]friends that does and you know they do stuff that you but
[14:37]you don't in involve yourself with them like you're friends with them
[14:41]but you don't involve yourself in the haram that they do.
[14:42]How does that affect you like in the and so let's say
[14:47]you're surrounded with a group of friends who constantly do haram but
[14:50]you're not participating in that haram.
[14:53]How does that affect you?
[14:57]We have a few scenarios here.
[14:58]The first scenario is you're strong.
[15:01]You're confident they're not going to influence you and you're using your
[15:06]friendship with them to give them guidance.
[15:10]You want to help them stop that haram.
[15:14]That's wonderful.
[15:16]Allah will bless you for that.
[15:17]And the Quran teaches us if you save one soul, it says
[15:22]if you saved all of humanity, if you save one friend on
[15:30]the day of judgment, you're good.
[15:31]That act is going to intercede for you.
[15:34]So if you're strong, you know they're not going to negatively influence
[15:39]you and you'll use your friendship to guide them.
[15:44]Continue being their friends and continue doing your best to give them
[15:48]guidance.
[15:48]That's the first scenario.
[15:50]The second scenario is I'm not too sure they may influence me.
[15:57]Okay, right now I'm not doing the haram with them, but their
[16:00]mentality is a haram mentality.
[16:01]Have you seen some guys they're my I had a friend who
[16:07]calls it the haram brain.
[16:08]Their brain is just haram and haram.
[16:10]The words that they say, the thoughts that they have, you know,
[16:14]the discussions that they have, it's usually about haram and immoral things.
[16:19]If spending too much time with these people is going to weaken
[16:26]you and you're you you sense it, you're concerned, minimize your contact
[16:31]with them.
[16:30]Even if you're not engaging in the haram now, but eventually they
[16:35]might entice you to do haram.
[16:37]Believe me, I've seen so many people, so many good people, good
[16:43]youth who were on the right path and they were not interested
[16:49]in the life of haram, but their friends pulled them.
[16:53]The evil friends of they pulled them to haram.
[16:57]Try it.
[16:57]Try it once.
[16:59]What are you, a chicken?
[17:01]Try it once.
[17:01]You're scared of this.
[17:04]You know how they work.
[17:06]Peer pressure.
[17:06]Or like a brother, he would tell me say when I'm with
[17:10]my friends and I don't do haram.
[17:11]The first thing they tell me.
[17:14]Now you're ah, you're anah.
[17:18]Now, you think you're so good, you don't want to do haram.
[17:20]Look, it gets to you one day, two, two days, three times,
[17:25]10 times, 20 times, 100 times.
[17:28]Eventually, you're going to give in.
[17:30]eventually you're going to give in.
[17:34]There was a man during the time of the prophet sallallahu alaihi
[17:38]wasall he was also a poet ala he heard the prophet has
[17:41]a beautiful message he went he saw the prophet he learned Islam
[17:45]he's like this is beautiful religion I'm going to convert but he
[17:49]was addicted to drinking he loved wine his friend told him do
[17:54]you know Muhammad sallallahu alaihi bans wine like oh that's tough but
[18:00]whatever if he bans it I'll try to stop he told him
[18:04]Look, why stop now?
[18:05]Drink, drink, drink for a whole year and then next year repent.
[18:10]Next year, become a Muslim.
[18:12]He's like, you know what?
[18:15]That's a good idea.
[18:15]If I'm not going to drink anymore, let me enjoy the next
[18:19]year of my life drinking and then I can repent.
[18:23]Guess what happened?
[18:25]That opportunity never came.
[18:27]During that one year he died and he never became Muslim because
[18:32]of that bad friend.
[18:34]One bad friend can stop you.
[18:38]And that's why the holy Quran teaches us in this beautiful verse
[18:49]on that day.
[18:51]The one who failed his test he will bite at his hands
[18:54]because of all the injustice he committed.
[18:56]He's regretful.
[18:58]I wish I wish I would have listened to the messenger of
[19:02]God.
[19:02]I wish I would have listened to the Quran to the teachings
[19:10]of B.
[19:08]And then what does he say?
[19:13]I wish I would have not befriended that person.
[19:20]My friend made me deviate even though I saw the truth.
[19:25]So if you're associated with friends and you feel like they're influencing
[19:29]influencing you, stop.
[19:32]At that point, you just have to put a distance.
[19:35]So that's how you kind of navigate.
[19:37]If you feel safe, you've got the upper hand, you're trying to
[19:42]show them guidance, stay as friends with them.
[19:44]But if they're influencing you, one day you might lose your faith.
[19:49]Alhamdulillah, there's so many good people in the community.
[19:53]go and be befriend others who don't have that negative influence on
[19:58]you.
[20:01]The next anonymous question is if someone from time to time has
[20:07]satanic thoughts about God existing, how should they deal with this?
[20:10]Sometimes you might have a doubt about the existence of God, satanic
[20:14]thoughts about God existing.
[20:16]What do you do?
[20:19]First of all, some people panic and they think they became kafir.
[20:21]Have you heard that from your friends?
[20:25]Many people have messaged me say I feel so guilty.
[20:30]I committed kufur.
[20:30]I don't know if I'm a Muslim or not.
[20:32]Why?
[20:33]I had doubts about God's existence.
[20:34]Having doubts does not mean you're a disbeliever.
[20:38]In fact, one day companions went to the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam
[20:42]and they told him that.
[20:45]They told him were very concerned.
[20:47]The prophet told them why you had doubts about God and you
[20:49]think you became kafir.
[20:49]They're like yeah exactly.
[20:52]The prophet told them the fact that you're concerned and you want
[20:55]to address the doubt and you care means you have iman.
[20:57]You're not kafir.
[21:01]You care.
[21:01]You are trying to have faith.
[21:05]Just because you had a doubt does not mean you lost your
[21:08]faith.
[21:09]So keep that in mind.
[21:09]It's perfectly normal for even believers sometimes to have doubts.
[21:15]But what's important is to address the doubt.
[21:18]So if you have satanic thoughts about God's existence, step number one,
[21:25]say, "I seek refuge in Allah from Shaitan, the occurs." Number two,
[21:33]tell yourself, talk to yourself, say to yourself, "I'm a m I'm
[21:37]a believer.
[21:39]I've not lost my faith.
[21:40]I have iman.
[21:42]I will not let shaitan fool me into thinking that I've lost
[21:46]my faith.
[21:47]Say that to yourself.
[21:48]It's very helpful.
[21:50]That's number two.
[21:54]Number three, address the doubt.
[21:55]What is the source of that doubt?
[21:57]You're not too sure if God exists.
[21:59]Go do research.
[21:59]Increase your knowledge.
[22:01]Reflect more on the signs of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
[22:06]Once you address the root cause of the doubt, your iman will
[22:12]build and come stronger.
[22:12]You have doubts about the Quran, investigate, ask a scholar.
[22:17]You have doubts about the Shia school of thought, investigate, ask a
[22:21]scholar.
[22:20]Research.
[22:21]The more you research, the more you will find the truth.
[22:26]Sometimes there are some things we don't know about and that makes
[22:28]us lose faith.
[22:30]Had we researched them, we would have found the truth.
[22:32]Like there was one person years ago who left Islam.
[22:36]I spoke to him later when he became an atheist.
[22:41]Unfortunately, he even rejected God.
[22:42]I told him, "Why did you leave Islam?" He says, "Because the
[22:44]Quran is not is wrong.
[22:47]It's inaccurate." I told him, "How?" He's like, "Because the Quran says
[22:50]Adam is the first human being." And he lived what, like 10,000
[22:54]years ago according to some scholarly estimates.
[22:57]But look, science disproves that.
[22:59]Science is showing humanlike figures that go back to a million years
[23:03]ago, 500,000 years ago, 2 million years ago.
[23:07]So this Islam is wrong.
[23:09]I told him, "Who told you Adam is the first human?
[23:15]Where did you get that from?
[23:15]Where where does the Quran say that?
[23:17]Where does the Quran say that?
[23:19]Where does the hadith say that?" He's like, "So Adam is not
[23:23]the first human being." I told him, "No, he's not the first
[23:26]human being." We have so many verses and hadiths that indicate he
[23:30]wasn't the first human being and that there were humanlike figures way
[23:35]before Adam.
[23:36]As one hadith states, before this Adam, there were 1,000 Adams.
[23:45]Yes, the most complete human being with the intellect is Prophet Adam.
[23:51]But before him, there were humanlike figures.
[23:54]According to one hadith from Aladd or Al Bakam, he says Allah
[24:03]created seven rounds of humanlike figures.
[24:06]There were six rounds before us and we the modern human race
[24:09]were the seventh round.
[24:09]Who told you that the that Adam is the first human?
[24:14]He was shocked.
[24:15]He had never heard that he came back to Islam.
[24:17]So address the cause of the doubt that will help you with
[24:22]these thoughts inshallah.
[24:25]Now we're looking for a question from the sister side.
[24:28]Anyone has a question.
[24:32]Any questions directly to the Sydney?
[24:35]There's a sister in the middle.
[24:37]Thank you.
[24:43]Yes.
[24:44]Go ahead.
[24:48]Okay, we'll get to your question.
[24:52]My question is about and why we do it when God is
[24:57]all knowing and all hearing.
[24:58]That's a very good question.
[25:01]Why do we engage in the practice oful?
[25:04]Andul means you invoke the intercession of for instance the prophet and
[25:10]his family and you ask them to intercede on your behalf.
[25:15]Why do we do that?
[25:16]When Allah is merciful and he's knowledgeable and he's the one who
[25:20]forgives.
[25:21]So why do we need to right some responses and let's go
[25:28]to the Quran and the hadith of B number one when Allah
[25:34]created Adam what's the first thing he commanded the angels to do
[25:38]what did he command the angels to prostrate to who to who
[25:44]are you sure what does the Quran say yeah these are the
[25:52]words of the Quran.
[25:52]Allah told the angels, "Prostrate to Adam." Were they worshiping Adam?
[25:57]Would God tell the angels to worship anything besides him?
[26:04]That's disbelief.
[26:03]That's kufur.
[26:05]How would God command angels to engage in kufur?
[26:09]So, what were the angels doing then?
[26:11]If it wasn't worshiping Adam, what were they doing?
[26:19]How?
[26:19]Simplify in basic terms.
[26:21]How did they engage in?
[26:23]They were worshiping Allah but through a channel.
[26:29]That gate, that channel was Adam.
[26:32]They had to recognize that now Adam represents God.
[26:36]And they humbled themselves before Adam.
[26:39]So they worshiped Allah, not Adam.
[26:41]But their their direction to Allah was through Adam.
[26:44]Just like the Cabba, when you face the Cabba, do you worship
[26:48]the Cabba?
[26:49]Of course not.
[26:49]That's shik.
[26:50]The pagans would worship the stones.
[26:52]We don't worship the Cabba.
[26:54]But it's our direction of prayer.
[26:56]So the direction of the angel's prayer was Adam.
[27:01]They all accepted except one who was of course not an angel.
[27:07]He was from the jin el.
[27:07]He refused.
[27:09]No, I'm not prostrating to that blob of clay.
[27:12]I'm better than him.
[27:13]You created me from fire and you created him from clay.
[27:15]He rejected the tawasul of Adam.
[27:19]He rejected going through the gates of prophet Adam.
[27:22]So early on when Allah created humanity, he taught us something.
[27:26]I have representatives.
[27:30]You worship me, but you go through my representatives.
[27:32]They teach you right and wrong.
[27:34]They teach you what I want.
[27:36]They advocate on your behalf.
[27:39]That's the core of now why did God institute the system?
[27:46]What's the wisdom behind it?
[27:50]There are many reasons.
[27:50]Number one, when you do, Allah wants you to take the prophets
[27:57]and the imams as your role models.
[27:59]Look at the purity of the prophet.
[28:01]Look at the purity of Fatma, the purity of B.
[28:05]When you have a close relationship with them, you're inspired by their
[28:10]legacy.
[28:10]That's one way to push us to learn from their legacy.
[28:16]So serves to motivate us to get close to the prophet and
[28:22]the teachings of the prophet.
[28:23]That's number one.
[28:23]Number two, Allah wants to honor the prophet sallallahu alaihi.
[28:28]He wants to honor the B.
[28:30]How does he reward them?
[28:32]Give them heaven.
[28:35]They didn't worship God for heaven.
[28:37]You think the prophet sallallahu alaihi Ali Alisam they worshiped God just
[28:41]to go to heaven?
[28:41]No.
[28:42]They had a higher purpose.
[28:45]They were in love with Allah.
[28:47]They worshiped God because they found God worthy of being worshiped.
[28:50]How does God now compensate them?
[28:53]How?
[28:54]Give them heaven.
[28:57]For them, heaven is great.
[28:58]Okay.
[28:59]But it doesn't do justice to what they did.
[29:02]So how do you do justice to them?
[29:08]You give them a symbolic reward by declaring that they are the
[29:12]gates to Allah.
[29:14]Where Allah says they are my representatives.
[29:14]You want to come to me and want my forgiveness?
[29:17]Yes, I give the forgiveness but you have to acknowledge their status.
[29:21]That's the best spiritual reward Allah can give to anyone.
[29:26]And that's why that's why the the holy Quran makes it very
[29:28]clear that if you want forgiveness there's two conditions the Quran these
[29:35]are the words of the Quran when they would oppress themselves by
[29:41]committing sins they would come to you Allah then how did they
[29:48]achieve forgiveness what does the Quran say yes Allah is your Lord
[29:54]you ask him to forgive give you.
[29:56]But is that enough?
[29:59]Is that enough?
[29:59]No.
[30:00]Why?
[30:01]What does the verse say?
[30:07]If they ask Allah to forgive them and the messenger, the prophet
[30:15]advocates on their behalf by asking Allah to forgive them, then they
[30:18]will find Allah merciful.
[30:19]But if someone says, "I want to skip the prophet," you're violating
[30:22]the Quran.
[30:24]can't skip the prophet.
[30:26]So you ask Allah to forgive you.
[30:28]But was means, "Ya Allah, I recognize the prophet has a high
[30:34]status.
[30:33]Allah is advocate for me.
[30:37]Yahool Allah, you have a high position with Allah.
[30:42]Your dua is answered.
[30:42]I'm sinful.
[30:44]My prayer may not be answered.
[30:46]But yahas roo forgive me and you intercede on my behalf." Allahh
[30:51]will honor you.
[30:54]Allah doesn't say no to the prophet cuz the prophet is sinless.
[30:57]God doesn't say no to him.
[30:58]Then Allah will forgive you.
[31:00]That's the basis of does that make sense.
[31:08]We'll go to an anonymous question and then inshallah we'll get back
[31:14]to the sister.
[31:13]Anonymous question was asking can you explain the significance of chapter 5
[31:19]verse 55?
[31:19]We are often told it is the verse of of Im Ali
[31:23]but it seems like it refers to him.
[31:25]It refers to him in the plural form.
[31:30]Chapter 5 verse 55.
[31:34]Memorize this address.
[31:34]If you're ever told is there proof for im in the Quran,
[31:41]memorize this verse.
[31:41]555 easy.
[31:42]What does the verse stateman?
[31:49]This verse is telling us who our guardians are.
[31:53]Now, what kind of guardians?
[31:55]When the Quran says guardian, is it talking about child custody guardian,
[32:00]finances guardian?
[32:01]What what kind of guardian?
[32:05]Religious guardianship.
[32:08]Who has religious authority over us?
[32:10]So the Quran says only you know the word in Arabic is
[32:17]composed of two words and and confirms negates which means only.
[32:26]It's just another way of saying only in Arabic.
[32:31]The Holy Quran says these are your religious guardians.
[32:37]They have authority over you.
[32:39]Who are they?
[32:40]Who's the first one?
[32:42]Allah.
[32:43]Allah has guardianship over us.
[32:45]Who else?
[32:48]His messenger has guardianship over us.
[32:51]We ought to obey the prophet.
[32:52]And he's infallible because Allah will not give absolute authority to someone
[32:56]unless they're infallible.
[32:58]Who else?
[33:02]Those who believed.
[33:04]Okay, that's pretty vague.
[33:05]A lot of people are believers.
[33:07]Who are they?
[33:17]Those believers who have these qualities, they establish prayers and they give
[33:23]zakat charity in the state of let's go to the context of
[33:30]revelation.
[33:31]When this verse was revealed, something amazing happened one day in Medina.
[33:37]This verse was revealed to the prophet sallallahu alaihi.
[33:40]The prophet went to Im Ali Alisam.
[33:42]He told him Ali what did you do today told him I
[33:46]was in the masjid I was praying and he was praying the
[33:49]the musta prayer a poor man came while I was in and
[33:54]he begged he's like I'm hungry I need something give me something.
[33:57]So I imam was wearing a ring the imam indicated to him
[34:04]take it.
[34:05]He was in the state of recruit.
[34:07]He extended his hand, meaning draw it out of my finger.
[34:10]Go sell it and eat.
[34:11]Allah found this act so worthy that he revealed verse 555.
[34:20]Imm said, "Ya Allah, that's what I did." The prophet told him,
[34:23]"Allah has chosen you to be one of the guardians who has
[34:28]the just like I have guardianship over people, you have guardianship over
[34:32]people." And this is the basis of imam.
[34:34]And what does imam mean?
[34:34]It means a leader who has religious guardianship over you.
[34:38]Now the question is why is it plural?
[34:41]Mali is one person.
[34:45]Why plural?
[34:44]Two answers.
[34:46]The first answer sometimes the Quran when it wants to indicate something
[34:50]is so significant, so important, Allah will use the plural.
[34:54]I'll give you an example.
[34:58]For instance, one verse states The Quran says the people said, is
[35:12]that plural or singular?
[35:14]Plural.
[35:15]But who?
[35:17]One person said it.
[35:18]One of the hypocrite companions said it.
[35:21]Why is Allah using the plural?
[35:22]Because the statement is important.
[35:26]It's so big.
[35:26]It causes people in Medina to have doubts.
[35:28]The Quran says anas when only one person said it.
[35:32]When something is significant sometimes you will use the plural.
[35:37]That's the first answer.
[35:41]The second answer imam was asked about this verse.
[35:43]Why is it plural?
[35:45]When Im Ali is only one imam says all of us the
[35:51]imams of B it happened in our lifetime that we donated our
[35:55]ring in our salah.
[35:58]So this verse applies to all the imams of B and that's
[36:00]another reason why Allah used the plural.
[36:14]Sensei.
[36:16]Um, this question had quite a few votes, so I think it's
[36:20]only proper we end on it.
[36:21]It's an anonymous question.
[36:23]If an action brings you closer to your Lord, but negatively impacts
[36:26]your relationship with your mother, would it be considered haram?
[36:28]If an action brings you closer to your Lord, but it negatively
[36:36]affects your relationship with your mother, is that halal or haram?
[36:39]Should you do it or not do it?
[36:41]First of all, my dear brothers and sisters, as a general rule
[36:47]of thumb, realize that to get closer to your Lord, you need
[36:51]to have a good relationship with your mother.
[36:55]Who says that?
[37:03]Allah.
[37:04]Many verses in the Quran, Allah has decreed that you worship him
[37:09]and be good to your parents.
[37:10]When you're good to your parents, you're worshiping Allah.
[37:12]The hadith states, when you look at your parents with love, Allah
[37:17]writes for you.
[37:17]You're not doing anything.
[37:18]You're sitting, your mom is in the living room, maybe she's in
[37:21]the kitchen, you look at her with love and admiration, Allah writes
[37:24]I for you.
[37:27]So easy to get good deeds.
[37:29]Wah, it's so easy.
[37:28]Look at your parents withh with Allah subhana t will write you
[37:34]an act of worship.
[37:35]So realize to get closer to Allah and for Allah to love
[37:40]you, then make sure that you're doing what Allah wants.
[37:46]Because you know what the trap is sometimes?
[37:49]Sometimes we think we're close to God, but we're worshiping God on
[37:54]our terms, not his terms.
[37:55]That's not genuine worship.
[38:00]Like once this person, he was causing so much problems with his
[38:05]family members, cutting off his brothers and sisters, cheating his business partners,
[38:09]and then he would say, "Well, I I just feel so spiritual.
[38:11]I'm so close to God." Habib, you're not close to God when
[38:16]you're causing all of this.
[38:17]Or once a brother told me he you know, he was asking
[38:21]about, I don't know, weed, marijuana, drugs.
[38:23]And subhan Allah.
[38:24]You know sometimes you hear these crazy things people say told me
[38:29]say wallah when I do it I just feel so close to
[38:30][Laughter] Allah.
[38:34]The end of times crazy things.
[38:39]I know.
[38:38]Yes.
[38:38]His his head has gotten hot.
[38:40]So he's way up there.
[38:44]Who told you you're close to God?
[38:45]You you think you're close to God.
[38:51]Is that what God wants you to do?
[38:52]You're genuinely close to Allah when you're doing what Allah wants.
[38:56]Keep that in mind.
[38:58]Having said that, let's go now to the second observation.
[39:03]What your mother wants you to do or stop doing, is it
[39:06]something halal and haram like let's say your mother doesn't want you
[39:10]to fast when you have to fast.
[39:12]I know some parents, they have adult children, they're 17, 18, 19.
[39:16]Baba, you have school these days.
[39:21]Don't fast.
[39:19]No fast.
[39:20]That's haram.
[39:22]You have to fast in these cases.
[39:24]Go and kiss your hands mother.
[39:25]Kiss her feet.
[39:27]Tell her mama, "I love you, but Allah wants me to fast.
[39:29]I have to fast." Over here, you're not going to listen to
[39:33]your mother if she's telling you to disobey Allah.
[39:35]Or if she wants you to do something haram, but if it's
[39:41]not that, it's something else, right?
[39:44]Maybe it's something mustab that you want to do and your mother
[39:47]is just really bothered by it.
[39:48]Take it slow, step by step.
[39:52]I know you want to feel closer to Allah.
[39:56]I understand.
[39:54]But Allah wants you to also be gentle with your mom.
[39:59]Try to convince her.
[40:00]Have her not see what you're doing.
[40:01]If it bothers you, if it bothers her, just take it slowly.
[40:07]Try, it could take a year, two years.
[40:10]Try to be on good terms with your mother.
[40:12]the more you try to be on good terms with her in
[40:15]actuality the closer you will be to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala but
[40:20]remember if it's an issue of halal and haram obviously nothing comes
[40:25]before God and the laws of Allah subhanana wa ta'ala okay that
[40:30]was the last one okay my dear brothers and sisters may Allah
[40:35]subhana wa ta'ala bless you all thank you for participating in this
[40:39]Q&A session inshallah we have also next weekend so next Friday.
[40:42]If you still have questions, bring your questions next Friday.
[40:45]May Allah accept your in this blessed month of Ramadan.
[40:49]Keep us in your duas and we'll keep you in our duas.
[40:53]Muhammad.
