In an extension from yesterday's discussion, Sayed Ahmed Al-Qazwini further elaborates on the topic of prostrating on the Earth, showcasing through evidence that this practice stems from the teachings of the Holy Prophet (pbuh). The emphasis is then shifted to the Turbah of Imam Hussain (a.s.), and why Shia muslims prefer to use it to perform their prostration on. Al-Rasoul Islamic Society || The Holy Month of Muharram 2017

[1:33]respected brothers and sisters and addressing the question of why we the
[1:42]shia of ahlul bayt alaihi musalam pray on the turba during our
[1:47]salah we mentioned last night that there are certain benefits for which
[1:52]sujood was legislated for we spoke about the first benefit of sujood
[1:58]the theological benefit we said it reminds us of our aqeedah and
[2:02]then we spoke about the second benefit the spiritual benefit of sujood
[2:07]and that it makes us humble human beings and we said that
[2:11]in order for us to completely and fully attain these benefits have
[2:17]to place our forehead directly on the earth if there is a
[2:22]barrier between our forehead and the earth this barrier will prevent us
[2:28]from completely benefiting from sujood we understand this and we spoke about
[2:36]that in-depth last night tonight we go to the second part of
[2:41]our discussion and that is the sunnah of rasoolallah sallallahu alaihi wa
[2:45]sallam because like we said yesterday many muslims they will accuse us
[2:51]of performing bida'a innovation when we do sujood on the turba they
[2:57]will tell us that this is innovation rasulullah never did this nor
[3:00]his sahaba so why do you pray on the turba when rasulullah
[3:05]never did it and in order for us to evaluate this claim
[3:10]we have to study the sunnah of rasulullah we have to study
[3:14]two things number one the teachings of rasulullah what did rasulullah instruct
[3:19]us to do with sujood did he tell us you can pray
[3:22]on anything you want or he said you have to pray on
[3:26]carpet or he said you have to pray on the earth this
[3:29]is number one and number two we must examine the prayer of
[3:33]rasulullah himself how did he pray did he pray on the carpet
[3:37]or did he pray on the earth because when we go to
[3:41]the quran allah clearly mentions in two verses that rasulullah is our
[3:47]role model and we have to always follow in his footsteps if
[3:51]we want our ibadah to be correct let it be like the
[3:54]ibadah of rasulullah allah says in one verse allah tells the prophet
[4:04]tell the people if you love rasulullah if you love allah then
[4:08]follow rasulullah if i claim to love allah then follow rasulullah pray
[4:13]like he prays in another verse allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says and
[4:22]rasulullah is the best example follow in his footsteps do your ibadah
[4:28]in the same way rasulullah used to do his ibadah and there
[4:31]is a famous hadith that the muslims narrate you will find it
[4:36]in bukhari and muslim and all the other books that they have
[4:39]where they narrate rasulullah saying do you want to learn salah pray
[4:47]in the same way that i used to pray so thus we
[4:51]have to first look at the teachings of rasulullah what did he
[4:54]say about sujood and we have to look at his salah and
[4:57]only then we will realize that by us the shia praying on
[5:02]the turba we are following the sunnah of rasulullah and those individuals
[5:06]that pray on the carpet this is the bid'aan innovation and religion
[5:11]so we will begin inshaallah with this second part of our discussion
[5:15]after salawat alaam muhammad so first we begin by analyzing the teachings
[5:27]of rasulullah did he give us any instructions how to pray what
[5:32]to pray on or no and one of the most beautiful hadith
[5:37]that we see about the instructions towards sujood is a famous hadith
[5:42]that all muslims narrate you will find this hadith which is sahih
[5:47]authentic you will find it the shia narrate it and the sunni
[5:51]narrate it you will find it in the book of al qaafi
[5:55]and you will find it in bukhari all the books they narrate
[5:58]this hadith from rasulullah and this hadith is one of the most
[6:02]powerful arguments and proofs you can use to prove that the way
[6:06]you pray on the turba is correct anytime you're asked by a
[6:10]muslim why do you pray on the turba read them this hadith
[6:13]which is sahih al bukhari and it's a very beautiful hadith that
[6:17]we should memorize what does the hadith say the hadith is narrated
[6:21]from rasulullah rasulullah said he says i was given five things me
[6:34]and my ummah my nation we are given five things that no
[6:39]other prophet was given so rasulullah exclusively has five things special things
[6:44]that other prophets never were given by allah what are these five
[6:48]things the first one he says he says allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[6:55]gave me an aura in which my enemies would be afraid of
[6:59]me even if they were far even if they were one month
[7:03]away from me allah subhanahu wa ta'ala would instill fear in the
[7:07]hearts of the enemies of rasulullah and that's how rasulullah managed to
[7:11]prevail because the amount of muslims in the beginning of islam was
[7:15]so little so small how did he manage to defeat all the
[7:18]enemies because allah subhanahu wa ta'ala he supported him by this that
[7:23]he would instill fear in the hearts of his enemies this is
[7:26]only strictly to rasulullah and then the prophet says number two and
[7:31]this is what has what is relevant to our discussion the second
[7:36]thing rasulullah says memorize these five words brothers and sisters anytime someone
[7:46]asks you why do you pray on the turba and we said
[7:49]last night turba is a piece of earth correct dust from the
[7:53]earth that is compressed why do we pray on the turba which
[7:56]is earth read them this hadith rasoolallah said he said the earth
[8:04]it was made two things for me it was made masjid and
[8:07]it was made tahoor so we begin by masjid what does rasulullah
[8:11]mean by masjid when we hear the word masjid what do we
[8:14]usually think the place of worship mosque correct when i hear the
[8:19]word masjid i think of mosque the place of salah that we
[8:23]go to pray congregationally now in the arabic language the word masjid
[8:28]as they say it's it is the place of sujood the place
[8:33]where i do sujood it is called masjid masjid is derived from
[8:38]sujood anywhere where i do sujood it is special for sujood then
[8:44]that place will be called masjid so why is the mosque in
[8:48]islam called masjid because it is a place where people go to
[8:52]do sujood correct they do riku also and they also stand and
[8:56]pray but because sujood is the greatest of the worships we call
[9:01]the masjid a masjid because it's a place of sujood but in
[9:05]essence masjid means the place of worship meaning the place where you
[9:09]put your forehead on that area is called masjid so rasulullah is
[9:14]clearly saying that the earth was made a masjid for me a
[9:19]place of prostration that i prostrate do sujood on the earth the
[9:24]natural earth that we spoke about last night so if anytime you're
[9:28]asked why do you pray on the earth the turban you tell
[9:30]them masjidan he said the earth was made a place of sujood
[9:35]for me and then he said means purifier what is he speaking
[9:40]about we all know if we don't have water we need to
[9:44]do wudu but you don't have water or water is harmful to
[9:49]you then what do you do the alternative is you do through
[9:54]dust the earth so there are two benefits of earth to rasulullah
[9:59]number one is that you do sujood on it and number two
[10:02]you do with it so in this hadith rasulullah clearly says that
[10:07]do sujood on the earth the earth was made as a masjid
[10:11]for me not the carpet not fabrics not the rug so when
[10:16]i do sujood on the piece of turba which is earth i
[10:20]am following the sunnah of rasulullah the teachings of rasoolallah and this
[10:24]hadith is sahih so memorize it this is with the first aspect
[10:31]of the sunnah the teachings of rasoolallah and then we go to
[10:35]the second aspect of a sunnah how did rasulullah pray when we
[10:40]come to the salah of rasulullah we find that history has recorded
[10:45]him praying on two things rasulullah would pray on one of two
[10:50]things the first thing is the earth the bare earth the dust
[10:56]and you find that when rasulullah was in the masjid in his
[11:02]masjid in al madinah excuse me he would always pray on the
[11:06]earth why the masjid of rasulullah back then was unique in two
[11:11]ways all muslims they have written this muslim scholars the first way
[11:17]in which it was unique is that the masjid of rasulullah was
[11:21]not furnished you see now this hussainiya here this masjid it has
[11:25]carpets right it has rugs you won't touch the bare floor there's
[11:30]no dust the masjid of rasulullah had absolutely no carpets no rugs
[11:36]no sheets it was just the bare ground the dust and rasulullah
[11:40]and his sahaba used to pray on that bare ground this was
[11:44]the first way in which it was unique the second way in
[11:47]which it was unique it had no roof you see this roof
[11:50]ceiling over us it had no roof and ceiling in the beginning
[11:53]later they put some leaves of palm trees and then after the
[11:57]time of rasulullah they put a roof so rasulullah had no furnishing
[12:03]it was just the bare floor and it had no roof or
[12:05]ceiling now that we understand this come to the hadith of the
[12:10]muslims what the sunnis narrate and you will see that rasulullah in
[12:14]his masjid he used to do sujood on the ground on the
[12:17]bare floor on dust never did he do sujood on carpet because
[12:21]there was no carpet in his masjid no one alim from the
[12:26]muslim nation has ever mentioned that rasulullah in his mosque there was
[12:30]carpet there was no carpet this is something that came later it
[12:33]was bare naked just the floor the dust in front of you
[12:37]a desert the sand of the desert was in the masjid of
[12:39]rasulullah and to prove this i'll read you some hadith that our
[12:43]sunni brothers they narrate the first hadith from bukhari bukhari narrates a
[12:48]hadith from abu saeed al khudri he was one of the companions
[12:53]of rasulullah and abu saeed he says that one day we went
[13:00]and prayed behind rasulullah and his masjid and that day it rained
[13:05]and he said i noticed that day rasulullah was praying in mud
[13:10]and he was placing his forehead on the mud and then when
[13:14]he finished his salah we could see mud on his forehead so
[13:18]this hadith in bukhari clearly indicates that the ground of masjid al
[13:24]nabi was not furnished it was sand so put some water and
[13:28]it'll turn into mud rasulullah did sujud in the mud this is
[13:31]in bukhari if there was furnishing if there was carpet there would
[13:34]be no mud even if there's water and like we said there's
[13:39]no ceiling so right away the water will fill the masjid and
[13:42]it will turn into mud so bukhari clearly in this hadith he
[13:44]shows us that rasulullah used to pray on the naked ground this
[13:49]is the first hadith the second hadith we find in muslim one
[13:52]of the companions muslim narrates this hadith from one of the companions
[13:56]by the name of abdullah ibn masood very well known the hadith
[14:01]says he came one day to rasulullah and he was complaining because
[14:04]of the heat of the floor of masjid al nabi can you
[14:07]imagine if you've been to hajj it's very hot there especially in
[14:11]the summer so if you go to pray and there's no roof
[14:16]and the sun is just hitting that floor can you imagine how
[14:20]hot the floor will be it'll be an oven it's 50 degrees
[14:22]celsius so you can walk on that floor you cannot do sujood
[14:27]on it because it will burn your forehead so abdullah ibn masud
[14:32]he complained to rasulullah you rasulullah am i allowed to put something
[14:36]as a barrier the hadith and sahih muslim says rasulullah told him
[14:40]no you have to place your forehead on the bare naked naked
[14:45]ground even if it is hot so rasulullah did not allow him
[14:48]to put a barrier and also we find a similar hadith in
[14:52]muslim ahmed he narrates a similar hadith from jabir abdullah al ansari
[14:57]where he says that some days would be so hot in the
[15:00]masjid of rasulullah that we would come before salah we would take
[15:04]the pebbles and we would juggle them from one hand to the
[15:07]other so that these pebbles would cool off so we would be
[15:10]able to do sujood on them now if you are able to
[15:14]do sujood on carpet or on fabric couldn't someone have told oh
[15:18]jabir just bring some carpet take your abaya or your clothes and
[15:22]do sujood on it they knew this they understood this from rasoolallah
[15:27]that you're not allowed to put a barrier you have to pray
[15:30]directly on the dust and the dust was hot so this is
[15:34]the third hadith a fourth hadith we see in musnad ahmad from
[15:38]aisha aisha is narrated saying that when i used to see rasulullah
[15:42]pray he would pray on the naked ground he would not put
[15:44]a barrier and finally one of the sahaba by the name of
[15:48]wa'il also in musnad ahmed he says that rasulullah not only would
[15:53]he put his forehead on the dust but even his nose he
[15:57]would also put his nose on the dust and that's why it
[16:00]is a sunnah that when you pray don't just put a torbah
[16:04]in front of your forehead put another one in front of your
[16:08]nose but this is mustahab the forehead is wajib but the nose
[16:11]is mustahab and you've seen some of the mumineen and muminat in
[16:14]the masajid they do this they put two turbas one for the
[16:17]forehead one for the nose why because they are following in the
[16:20]footsteps of rasulullah as wa'el says in this hadith he used to
[16:24]make sure that his nose also touches the dust in his masjid
[16:29]so these hadith all indicate that rasulullah in his masjid he used
[16:33]to pray on the dust on the floor and he used to
[16:37]teach a sahabah to make sure that you prostrate on the dust
[16:43]this is the first thing that rasulullah used to do sujood on
[16:46]it's not carpet it's the dust just like us the second thing
[16:50]that rasulullah used to sometimes do sujood on is what the ahadith
[16:55]call it al khumra al khumra basically is a small prayer mat
[17:03]that is made from the leaves of palm trees it is made
[17:07]from the leaves of palm trees and now you can find something
[17:11]similar to what they call al hasira and you see some people
[17:13]they use it to pray on it's those yellow straws stuck together
[17:16]and you see people in hajj they use it this is what
[17:19]the khumra is many ahadith that mention rasulullah in his house because
[17:24]his house was furnished his masjid was not furnished so he could
[17:28]just pray on the floor but his house it was furnished and
[17:33]it's difficult to remove the sheets so rasulullah used to place the
[17:36]khumrah which is the leaves of the palm tree and he would
[17:39]pray on that and this is mentioned in bukhari bukhari narrates this
[17:44]from whom from one of the wives of rasulullah she says that
[17:49]i saw rasulullah pray on the khumrah in my house and i
[17:53]saw this hadith that's narrated from five individuals maimuna the wife of
[17:58]rasoolallah aisha the wife of rasoolallah ibn abbas the cousin of rasoolallah
[18:05]and abu sa'id al khudri all these five individuals they witnessed seeing
[18:10]rasoolallah doing sujood and al khumrah now why al khumrah because it's
[18:15]what it's from the palm tree and it's something natural remember the
[18:18]hadith we mentioned last night of whom of hashem ibn al hakami
[18:22]as salimam as saladik on which things may i do sujood on
[18:26]the imam said you can do sujood on the earth and anything
[18:30]that grows from the earth and the palm tree grows from the
[18:32]earth that's why rasulullah used to do sujood on the on the
[18:36]khumrah which is the palm tree leaves so all these ahadith they
[18:40]indicate to us that rasulullah never did sujood on carpet he never
[18:44]did sujood on fabric either the earth or something that grows from
[18:48]the earth just like the hadith of imam musaddaik alaihi salam so
[18:51]who's following the sunnah of rasulullah in the sujood us or other
[18:57]muslims it's us why do we pray on the turban because rasulullah
[19:01]used to pray on the dust and the turban we said is
[19:03]dust it's difficult to bring dust here because it's furnished so we
[19:07]bring a portable piece of the earth which is the turba we
[19:11]are following the sunnah of rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam and in
[19:16]fact when you're asked by a muslim why do you pray on
[19:18]the turba you ask them why do you pray on carpet did
[19:22]rasulullah pray on the carpet did abu bakr pray on the carpet
[19:25]that's all you know because the masjid of rasulullah was not furnished
[19:28]with carpet so the bid'ah in fact is by praying on the
[19:31]carpet not by praying on the turban and this is mentioned in
[19:35]the holy quran the fact that the sahaba not just rasulullah even
[19:39]a sahaba they used to pray on the bare ground on the
[19:43]dust this is mentioned in the quran allah subhanahu wa ta'ala he
[19:46]refers to it indirectly allah says in the holy quran muhammadun rasulullah
[19:52]and then he speaks about the companions of rasulullah he speaks about
[20:00]the qualities of the sahaba they are what they are merciful between
[20:04]each other but they are very very strong and brave against the
[20:08]enemies and then allah says he says what does this verse mean
[20:18]allah says in the holy quran when you look at them you
[20:22]will see a mark on their face what's this mark from this
[20:26]mark is from sujood if you've seen some of the ulama if
[20:30]you go to for example qom or najah for karbala where you
[20:33]have ulama what you'll notice and not just ulama some very pious
[20:37]mumminin muminat you'll see a mark on their forehead you could see
[20:41]something what's this mark from from sujood because they do so much
[20:45]sujood on the turba and the turba is rough this will eventually
[20:49]throughout the years make a mark correct allah says that this mark
[20:54]was on the faces of the sahaba and this mark you can
[20:58]only get it if you if you pray on the on the
[21:00]torbah or the ground the floor the dust if you pray on
[21:04]the carpet this nice silky carpet smooth carpet you're not gonna get
[21:08]this mark pray a hundred years on what on the carpet that
[21:12]mark will not because it's smooth that mark you will only get
[21:15]it if you do sujood on something rough which is the earth
[21:19]and that's why subhanallah i remember a while back i was on
[21:23]a website of one of the ulama of al sallamahu al jama'ah
[21:25]and on his website there was a q and a section they
[21:29]would ask him questions and i saw one person he had asked
[21:33]him asked him this question what is allah speaking about in this
[21:38]verse what does that mean what type of mark is this where
[21:43]did they get get this from subhanallah this scholar he dodged the
[21:47]question he said that this is symbolic it's not a physical literal
[21:53]mark it's a symbolic mark meaning when you look at their face
[21:56]you find their faces from iman because of sujood why why not
[22:00]literal because even he knows that if he says it's a literal
[22:04]mark that means the sahaba used to pray on the earth and
[22:06]we who are supposedly following the sahaba we pray on the carpet
[22:10]so he does not want to go down that path so he
[22:13]says it's not a physical mark it's a symbolic mark a mark
[22:17]of iman on the face while there's no reason to leave the
[22:21]true meaning which is a physical mark a literal it's a literal
[22:24]meaning and go to the symbolic meaning why no it's not a
[22:29]symbolic mark it's a physical mark because of the sujood on the
[22:33]earth so now brothers and sisters we understand that when it comes
[22:37]to sujood rasoolallah made it clear the earth was made as a
[22:44]masjid place of sujood that's why we do sujood on the earth
[22:48]the turba is earth and likewise rasoolallah in the masjid he used
[22:52]to pray on the earth and in his house he would pray
[22:55]on the kumrah and the kumrah is a part of the earth
[22:58]something that grows naturally from the earth as we explained last night
[23:02]so anyone who prays on anything else like the carpet and the
[23:06]sheets and the fabrics they have to give their reasoning why they
[23:11]are deviating from the sunnah of rasoolallah and they're doing the spada'ah
[23:16]now that we understand this we go to the second part of
[23:20]our discussion and that is many times not only will they ask
[23:25]us why do you pray on the turba if we give them
[23:28]this answer they will say okay we understand that rasulullah said we
[23:33]have to pray on the earth the naked earth but they will
[23:37]sometimes ask us why is it that we notice the shia not
[23:42]only did they pray on the turba the earth but a special
[23:46]type of turba a special type of earth and that is the
[23:50]turba of karbala the turba of imam hussain how many of us
[23:55]we own turba of imam hussain in our houses you can find
[23:58]some here when we go to karbala we make sure that we
[24:02]buy what turba of imam al hussain and it says on it
[24:05]turbaat al imam al hussain and we revere it and we say
[24:09]it is holy and we try to make sure that we do
[24:12]sujood and not just any turba the turba of abi abdullah al
[24:16]hussain from karbala they will ask us why isn't this a bit
[24:20]fine do sujood on turbah from earth but why turbah of imam
[24:24]hussain this is bitah where did rasulullah say this imam hussain alaihi
[24:29]salam he was killed after rasulullah so why are you innovating in
[24:32]faith how do we answer this why do we do sujood on
[24:37]the turban of abi abdullah al hussain alaihi salaam and this is
[24:41]a wonderful time to increase our knowledge about this since this is
[24:45]the month of muharram the month of al hussain so why do
[24:50]we do sujood on the torbah when they tell us this is
[24:52]bid'ah so we reply through these ways number one it is not
[24:58]a bid'ah if we do sujood on the torbah of imam hussein
[25:01]why because the torbah of imam hussein it's a part of the
[25:03]earth then rasulullah said he said the earth the entire earth is
[25:09]what is a place of worship isn't karbala a part of earth
[25:13]do you believe karbala is a part of earth i believe it's
[25:16]a part of heaven if you believe with me that karbala is
[25:19]from heaven alhamdulillah we're on the same page but if you say
[25:23]it's not a part of heaven then it's a part of the
[25:24]earth isn't it rasulullah said the entire world the entire earth the
[25:30]bare earth you could pray on it karbala is earth so why
[25:32]do you have a problem with karbala that's number one number two
[25:36]you tell them that it is it is not a watchup to
[25:39]pray on the turban of karbala no you can pray on any
[25:42]earth from anywhere in the world you can pray on the turbah
[25:46]of halifax and that's fine no one is saying it's wajib all
[25:50]we are saying is what it is mustahab it is recommended extra
[25:55]credit to pray on the turban of imam al hussain so now
[25:59]they will ask you where are you getting this even mustahab you
[26:02]need what you need a dalil a proof from rasulullah or else
[26:08]it will be it will be what it will be bada'ah so
[26:11]how do we reply to this why do we say it is
[26:14]mustahab to pray on the turba of imam al hussain also a
[26:19]few points that we have to keep in mind number one the
[26:22]reason why it is mustahab to do sujood on the turban of
[26:27]imam al hussain is because the land of karbala is a holy
[26:31]land the land of karbala is a holy land so when they
[26:36]ask you why is it that you carry the turban of imam
[26:39]al hussein with you and you want to pray on the turban
[26:41]of imam al hussein tell them because the turban of karbala is
[26:46]holy why is the turban of karbala holy because of the person
[26:50]that it contains you see i don't care how extreme the wahhabi
[26:55]might get but he cannot deny that there are certain lands that
[26:59]are more honorable more sacred than other lands like what like mecca
[27:05]and medina is mecca and medina like paris and new york and
[27:10]toronto is it the same thing ask a wahhabi tell them mecca
[27:14]is the same thing as new york and toronto there's no difference
[27:16]because it's earth they'll tell you no mecca's land is a holy
[27:21]land medina's land is a holy land allah doesn't he speak about
[27:27]one of the holy lands when he told when he spoke about
[27:35]the valley of dua he told musa to take off your shoes
[27:40]because you are in the sacred holy the valley of dua musa
[27:45]could have told him you allah the entire earth is the same
[27:47]there's no holy lands no there are holy lands and mecca you'll
[27:51]see the muslims what do they do when they go to mecca
[27:54]they go to the kaaba isn't kaaba just break but they will
[27:57]go and they will touch the kaaba and they will be honored
[28:00]by it and kiss hajar al aswad and the land of mecca
[28:03]to them is so holy if they take a souvenir from them
[28:05]back after hajj they will cherish their souvenir they'll tell you this
[28:09]is from mecca tell them mecca is like new york no mecca
[28:12]is a holy land correct anything that comes from a holy land
[28:16]we cherish it medina is a holy land that's why anything that
[28:21]comes from it we cherish it all the muslims believe the land
[28:24]of mecca and medina is holy land it's not a normal land
[28:28]and there is one of the ulama of the his name is
[28:33]as sam hudi he wrote a book he called it wafaa ul
[28:37]wafaa in this book he speaks about mecca and medina an entire
[28:41]book just about mecca and medina the hadith about mecca and medina
[28:45]the land of mecca and medina which one is better the features
[28:48]characteristics and so forth so in this book issam hudi do you
[28:53]know what he said he says that there is a juma consensus
[28:58]between all the ulama that the most glorious and sacred piece of
[29:03]land on earth is al qa'bah that area is the most noble
[29:09]and sacred part of earth but then he says except with one
[29:14]condition there's i'm sorry one exception ka'aba is the holiest land with
[29:19]one exception there is one place that is holier than even the
[29:22]ka'aba where he says the dust surrounding the grave of rasulullah he
[29:29]says that area surrounding the grave of rasulullah that dust is even
[29:34]holier than the kaaba he says consensus all the muslims and then
[29:40]he says subhanallah he says one of the by the he mentions
[29:44]his name by the name of ibn akhil al hambali he says
[29:47]he went so far as to saying that the dust surrounding the
[29:52]grave of rasulullah is even holier than the of allah the throne
[29:57]of allah why he says because it contains a holy body what's
[30:02]special about that area because rasulullah's body is buried there and when
[30:07]you have rasulullah's body buried there that makes the entire area that
[30:11]surrounds the grave holy it is holier than the ka'aba even and
[30:17]allah subhanahu wa ta'ala he tells us about this in the holy
[30:20]quran he shows us that because rasulullah was in mecca mecca became
[30:24]holy all of mecca what does he say allah says that i
[30:31]swear meaning i swear by the might and glory of this what
[30:40]by the sanctity of this city which is mecca why what is
[30:44]so glorious what is so honorable about mecca allah says because you
[30:52]rasulullah are in mecca then mecca becomes a holy land rasulullah walked
[30:57]on mecca all this dust of mecca becomes filled with barakah and
[31:02]blessings that's why the muslims they love the land of mecca they
[31:06]love the land of medina because it reminds them of rasulullah because
[31:10]this is the area where islam began this is where rasulullah grew
[31:14]up and he began to invite people of islam and all the
[31:17]events of islam they happened here so because of rasulullah he lived
[31:22]there and he's buried there that area becomes holy when we come
[31:28]to karbala the same exact thing applies who's buried in karbala imam
[31:34]al hussain why is karbala holy to us and we love torbat
[31:38]abi abdullah al hussain hadith on sahiq even al albani who's very
[31:57]strict he says hadith hadith what is the hadith rasulullah said hussein
[32:04]is from me and i am from hussein meaning me and hussein
[32:10]are one so when we say hussein is buried in karbala it's
[32:14]as if rasulullah is buried there so in the same way that
[32:17]you revere that area surrounding the grave of rasulullah you should revere
[32:22]that area surrounding the grave of imam hussain because hussain is rasulullah
[32:26]hussain ul minni so why are you surprised that i revere and
[32:32]honor the land of karbala the land of karbala reminds me of
[32:36]abba abdullah al hussain it reminds me of ashura the greatest sacrifice
[32:41]in history that's why it becomes holy so we cannot say karbala
[32:47]is just like any other land oh karbala is a special land
[32:50]it witnessed the greatest sacrifice in history it contains the body of
[32:56]abba abdullah al hussein and the first person to revere the dust
[33:02]of karbala was whom rasulullah himself rasulullah himself he revered and respected
[33:10]and honored the dust of karbala yes we don't narrate this not
[33:15]just us they narrate it too this is narrated in the book
[33:19]of in his muajim one of the sunni scholars he narrates this
[33:24]hadith listen brothers and sisters he says that says one day imam
[33:30]hassan hussain they were young boys they were playing in my house
[33:33]one day rasulullah came to them as soon as he came to
[33:37]greet them and play with them jibrael came down upon rasulullah and
[33:42]he told them you rasulullah do you see the second one hussain
[33:46]your ummah will kill him your ummah will kill him after jublai
[33:51]told him of how imam al hussein al imam al hussein will
[33:54]be killed rasulullah began to cry and then they asked us why
[33:58]do you cry for hussein rasulullah cried for hussein it's in your
[34:01]books the problem is they don't read when rasulullah cries for hussein
[34:07]fifty years or sixty years before karbala you don't want me to
[34:11]cry i'm greater than rasulullah this is the hadith in muhammad he
[34:17]says that rasulullah cried and then he hugged abba abdullah al hussein
[34:20]and then jibrael told him you rasulullah do you want me to
[34:25]bring you some of the dust of karbala couldn't rasulullah say no
[34:30]thank you dust of karbala is useless he told him of course
[34:34]of course i would love it if you bring me from the
[34:37]dust of karbala jibrael miraculously went and he brought him from the
[34:42]dust of karbala and the hadith says the dust was red red
[34:47]red dust he gave it to rasulullah the hadith says rasulullah took
[34:53]that dust of karbala the torah of karbala and he began to
[34:58]smell it and he said what will happen in karbala what types
[35:06]of tragedies will my family see in karbala and then ummu says
[35:11]he took that dust did not throw it away because this is
[35:14]holy dust because this is dust you keep on to it's not
[35:18]average dust ordinary dust he took it and he gave it to
[35:21]ummu she says he gave it to me and he told me
[35:24]you ummu keep this in a safe place and if you see
[35:28]one day that this turns into blood know that my grandson hussein
[35:33]was killed she says i put it in a safe container and
[35:37]then subhanallah so many years later one day she says i noticed
[35:41]it turned into red blood the news of imam hussain being killed
[35:45]had not come yet that was the day of ashura she says
[35:49]i noticed on the day of ashura no one told me imam
[35:52]hussain was killed but i noticed that this dust that rasulullah gave
[35:56]me fifty years ago now it's turned into blood when rasulullah reveres
[36:02]the dust of karbala we follow in his footsteps that's why we
[36:06]take it with us and we pray on it it's his earth
[36:08]we're allowed to pray on it and it's a special holy earth
[36:12]we follow in the footsteps and we read when we read the
[36:16]ziyarah we just read it today and we go to karbala and
[36:20]we do the ziyara of allah's hab what do we say in
[36:22]the end we tell the shuhada of karbala we tell them surely
[36:36]you are pure and purified and the earth that you were buried
[36:41]in became pure because you were buried there so this is number
[36:46]one we revere the land of karbala because of abba abdullah al
[36:51]hussein being buried there and rasulullah revered it as well number two
[36:56]the second reason why we pray on the turban of imam al
[37:00]hussain is because there are benefits to doing sujood on the turban
[37:05]of imam many people don't know that that when you do sujood
[37:09]on the turban of imam al hussain there are benefits like what
[37:13]the hadith of imam al sadiq alaihis salam says he says if
[37:30]you do sujood on the turban of abba abdullah al hussein this
[37:35]will penetrate the seven barriers listen carefully mumineen muminat al imam al
[37:43]saddaf says when you do sujood on the turban of hussein this
[37:47]will penetrate the seven barriers what does the imam mean penetrate the
[37:51]seven barriers the ulama have said one possible meaning to this hadith
[37:56]is that as you know when we pray our salah may sometimes
[38:00]be accepted and sometimes it may be rejected even if it's a
[38:04]sahiq you prayed it correctly allah won't accept it why because maybe
[38:08]you were not focusing on your salah there's no khushu your mind
[38:12]is somewhere else doesn't the quran say woe unto those that pray
[38:20]but their minds are somewhere else many of us unfortunately we have
[38:24]this problem that when we say allahu akbar our mind is wandering
[38:27]somewhere else we're thinking about our business and our plans and the
[38:30]dunya and our mind isn't with allah the ahadi tell us if
[38:35]your mind is not with your salah allah will not reward you
[38:38]for your salah if your mind is with you half the salah
[38:42]allah will give you half the reward as much as you're focused
[38:45]allah will give you the reward and there is an angel the
[38:48]hadith says that takes your salah after you finish it and he
[38:52]begins to take it into the skies to the heaven to allah
[38:56]and if your salah has any problems meaning you're not focused you're
[39:01]not concentrated he will bring it back and throw it at you
[39:04]he says allah doesn't want this junk pray salaam where you are
[39:08]focused on allah so apparently there are barriers maybe one barrier is
[39:12]for khushu and khudu another barrier is because for example you did
[39:16]not pray in the exact perfect way so there are barriers that
[39:19]may stop your salah from being accepted by allah al imam saddiq
[39:25]alaihi salaam says when you do sujood on the torbah of abi
[39:28]abdullah al hussein your salah will get an extra boost it will
[39:31]penetrate all the barriers even if you did not have khushu khudu
[39:35]or you had problems allah will accept your salah that's why we
[39:40]make sure that we do sujood on the turban of abi abdullah
[39:43]al hussein and then the hadith of the imam says and if
[39:48]you take the turba of imam hussain and you make a sibha
[39:53]with it sibha tasbih if you make a sibha from the dust
[39:59]of surrounding the grave of ababa abdullah al hussain do you know
[40:02]what's the benefit of that he says allah will count tasbih for
[40:06]you even when you're not doing tasbih buy a subha that's made
[40:11]from of the grave of imam hussein take the subha put it
[40:16]in your pocket allah will write for you subhanallah constantly this is
[40:21]allah musgraddah alaihi salaam why allah wants to encourage us that revere
[40:26]this turba of abba abdullah al hussain alaihi salaam just take the
[40:29]sabha put it in your pocket allah will count what will count
[40:33]as beeh for you and you're quiet you've done nothing so this
[40:37]is why what this is why we cherish this turba this is
[40:40]why we revere it and we make sure that we must pray
[40:43]on it at all times and we have many hadith that tell
[40:46]us the turba of karbala is a special turba how allah subhanahu
[40:51]wa ta'ala has placed shifa cure from many diseases in the turba
[40:57]of karbala the hadith of the prophet says that allah he gave
[41:01]three things to abba abdullah al hussein the imams were from his
[41:07]lineage number two the imam says if you go under the dome
[41:15]of abba abdullah al hussein allah will answer your dua what's number
[41:18]three allah has placed shifa a cure in his turba you take
[41:27]his turba and allah cures you of so many problems and diseases
[41:32]i'm sure you have heard many stories and i have heard so
[41:35]many miraculous stories of individuals they went to the doctor they may
[41:41]have had cancer or they may have had another fatal difficult disease
[41:46]the doctors told them sorry there is no cure for you you're
[41:50]gonna die they went to karbala they took from the sand from
[41:57]the dust surrounding the grave of abba abdullah al hussein and they
[42:00]swallowed it and they were cured by the will of allah i
[42:04]know many stories i know the individuals personally and i'm sure you've
[42:08]heard many stories allah has placed in the same way that allah
[42:12]has placed cure in medicine he has placed cure in the turban
[42:18]of abi abdullah hussain so it's not an average turban it's not
[42:22]an average land no it's an outstanding land that's why we revere
[42:28]it so this is number two number one we said it's a
[42:31]holy land number two there's benefits to doing sujood on this turba
[42:37]because this is a special turba and number three we are following
[42:41]in the footsteps of our imams our imams are our role models
[42:45]our imams used to pray on the turban of abi abdullah al
[42:48]hussein who was the first imam that prayed on the turban of
[42:51]abi abdullah al hussein imam zainul abideen the fourth imam the hadith
[42:56]says that after he went to bury his father imam zainul abideen
[43:01]he buried his father imam hussein after he buried him he took
[43:06]some of the dust of karbala he took a pile with him
[43:10]and he began to do sujood on it and he began to
[43:14]give it to his family members and some of his close shia
[43:17]when they were sick as a cure and eventually the shia began
[43:21]to hear that imam zainul abideen is praying on the turban of
[43:25]his the grave of his father and it became a sunnah a
[43:29]habit that the shia would go to karbala do ziyara take from
[43:33]the dust of the grave of imam al hussain and they would
[43:36]do salah on it they would do sujood on it and the
[43:39]imams they continued in the footsteps al imam sadiq alaihis salam the
[43:44]hadith says he would never pray but on the turban of abi
[43:49]abdullah al hussain he would carry it in his pocket anytime it
[43:53]was salah time he would take it out and he would do
[43:56]sujood on the dust of the grave of ababa abdullah al hussein
[43:59]alaihis salam and there's a beautiful hadith that says that in the
[44:05]beginning of islam fatima to zahara alaihi salam used to make sabhas
[44:11]she used to make sabhas for her and her family members and
[44:14]maybe other muslims and in the beginning she used to make them
[44:19]out of wool until hamza died hamza sayyid ashuhada the uncle of
[44:26]rasulullah when he died fatima began to make sibhas from the grave
[44:32]of hamza she used to go and take dust from the grave
[44:36]of hamzah because he was sayyid al shuhada at this time and
[44:40]she used to make sibhas the hadith says until imam al hussain
[44:44]alaihis salam died it became a habit that the muslims they would
[44:48]make sabhas out of the dust of the grave of hamza until
[44:52]abba abdullah died it changed now the sabhas would be made out
[44:56]of the dust of abba abdullah al hussain's grave and it became
[45:00]a sunnah a habit a custom of the shia of ahlul bayt
[45:05]subhanallah you see how ahlul bayt how much they revere the torbah
[45:13]of karbala that's why brothers and sisters try your best anytime you
[45:18]pray don't just pray on the torbah make sure that is the
[45:21]torbah of abi abdullah like we said it penetrates the seven barriers
[45:28]make sure you have some in your house and the masajid i
[45:31]personally make sure every time i pray i want it to be
[45:34]the torbah of abi abdullah because you'll get more tawab it will
[45:38]it has these beautiful effects follow in the footsteps of ahlul bates
[45:43]rasulullah used to revere abba abdullah al hussain so much in the
[45:51]story you mentioned he used to play with imam al hussain and
[45:56]he used to he used to take imam al hussain alaihis salam
[46:00]and he used to place him on his chest this was how
[46:03]close he was that's why he cried for imam hussain in the
[46:07]story we mentioned when jibrael told him that your ummah will kill
[46:11]him and rasulullah that same message that jibrail gave to him that
[46:18]same message he told imam al hussain that my ummah will kill
[46:22]you and you have to be patient my dear grandson hussain but
[46:27]when did rasulullah tell this to al imam al hussain he told
[46:31]him maybe a few times but he told him finally before rasulullah
[46:35]before imam al hussain went to karbala before he headed to karbala
[46:40]he was in medina he was in medina then he went to
[46:43]mecca then from mecca he was heading to kufa and they stopped
[46:47]him in karbala before he left medina he went to the grave
[46:53]of his grandfather to farewell he did the ziyara he did some
[46:58]salaar ruku sujood did some prayers and then the hadith says he
[47:04]sat on the grave of his grandfather rasulullah and he told him
[47:08]my dear grandfather rasulullah i am hussein and i am distressed the
[47:13]imam knew what will happen after him that they will kill him
[47:17]and kill his family members and take the woman as slaves so
[47:20]of course the imam was upset so he came to what to
[47:24]complain to his grandfather to speak to his grandfather even though he
[47:28]was in the grave but he was there to speak to him
[47:32]he told him these touching beautiful words he told them my dear
[47:35]grandfather you rasoolallah an al hussain look at the words that he
[47:43]uses he says i am your son i am your small child
[47:49]your small baby that used to love so much that you used
[47:53]to take me and put me put me on your chest and
[47:55]play with me that when rasulullah would be in sujood imam hussein
[47:59]would come on the back of rasulullah rasulullah would prolong his sujood
[48:04]until imam al hussein he willingly left he did not want to
[48:07]remove him even in sujood and the muslims would ask him you
[48:13]rasulullah why did you prolong your sujood so much did jibrail come
[48:16]down to you you tell them no imam al hussein was on
[48:19]my back i'm not going to remove him this is how dear
[48:22]he was to rasulullah so imam al hussein tells him it's me
[48:25]hussein the one that used to spoil so much and love so
[48:28]much i am farquaq wabanu farqatik and i am the son of
[48:32]fatima that used to love fatima alaihi salaam so much you rasulallah
[48:37]i don't want to go back to this world take me with
[48:40]you and then the hadith says after he began to speak to
[48:44]his grandfather rasulallah he took a short nap on the grave of
[48:49]rasulallah and then he saw in his dream he saw rasulullah and
[48:56]he spoke to him he told his grandfather i don't want to
[49:04]go back to this dunya please take me with you you rasoolallah
[49:10]rasoolallah hugged him he hugged him and he told him my dear
[49:14]my dear son hussein my dear grandson hussein my dear grandson hussain
[49:28]you have a high position in heaven and you can only reach
[49:31]that position through shahada through martyrdom because islam is counting on you
[49:37]they are destroying the religion of allah and the only way for
[49:40]islam to be be rescued is through your blood you have to
[49:45]go to karbala and you have to give your soul and your
[49:50]blood as a sacrifice for allah and then rasulullah told him my
[50:48]dear grandson hussain it won't be long before you will find yourself
[50:56]in the land of karbala all alone between the enemies you're thirsty
[51:02]but they will kill you in the land of karbala and they
[51:07]will smear your face with your blood and they will want my
[51:21]shuffah may allah not give them my shuffah oh
