The story of a person who learnt his lesson about being picky with the rice he eats! Presented by Sheikh Mohammed Al-Hilli

[0:04]says that one of the many ones came to me and he

[0:07]came back from the Journey of Hajj he said to him when

[0:12]I went to Hajj and this by the way still happens today

[0:16]he said I was with a big group this is several about

[0:21]two three hundred years ago maybe 200 years ago he says when

[0:26]I was with a group they have their own Chef they take

[0:28]their own Chef who prepares the food for them I know so

[0:32]many mashallah of the groups going from Africa and other places they

[0:36]still take their chef with them sometimes to in Hajj and prepares

[0:40]because you can never find cuckup in Madina and Mecca yes so

[0:44]you will meet somebody preparing it there so he said I was

[0:51]with this particular chef and he went to see we were stopping

[0:53]in our journey because at that time they used to go with

[0:58]for example horses and camels and so on he said we were

[1:00]going we stopped somewhere for a rest he said I was walking

[1:03]the chef was walking he said I saw one man sitting with

[1:05]a bow with a tray of rice and he was picking rice

[1:10]like this selecting so I looked at him and said what are

[1:12]you doing he said I am a servant my master does not

[1:17]agree to eat rice which is broken it needs to be a

[1:19]whole rice so I am looking at the rice if there is

[1:23]any rice that is you know a bit broken he said to

[1:27]me you must take it away because he wants all the rice

[1:31]to be full perfect yes this is Israel Allah is going to

[1:38]punish us because of him yes what kind of you know attitude

[1:40]is this we moved on said on the way back we stopped

[1:45]somewhere to rest we were attacked we were attacked by thieves they

[1:52]took our belongings they took our money and we were left just

[1:55]there to hang so we went to the closest Village we said

[1:58]to him look we are hungry we have just been taken everything's

[2:01]been taken away from us please help us so the people the

[2:03]villagers said please sit we were several hundred he said please sit

[2:07]we will prepare some food but we were starving so they had

[2:10]some rice they quickly put it in the water and they they

[2:13]were staring in their eyes but they didn't cook the rice very

[2:16]well yes and then they came and present to us it was

[2:17]neither proper rice or just water it was a mixture of both

[2:21]and we started eating because we were hungry he said at that

[2:23]moment I remembered that man who was very picky about the rice

[2:27]so I went to find him where is he he said I

[2:30]found him sitting next to him the servant and he is having

[2:33]this particular I don't know whatever I call it rice with water

[2:35]and he was smiling and he was saying to his servant this

[2:39]is amazing I love this it stays so nice I said subhanallah

[2:43]a few days ago you were picky about the rice when the

[2:48]name is taken away from you now you're happy with anything now

[2:52]I've come forward and said it's rough with wastefulness is a sin

[3:00]and in the words of the eighth holy Imam is one of

[3:04]the khabar ER one of the big sins yes because we have

[3:10]this particular Hadith from the Imam Ali Salam which was he says

[3:14]the the sins that are known as the biggest sins is what

[3:21]is he says wastefulness is amongst the biggest sins right unfortunately sometimes

[3:32]especially in the month of Ramadan because we may have one or

[3:35]two meals food sometimes is thrown away it's wasted and people are

[3:42]negligent about their duties and responsibilities here is a fitwa of his

[3:48]Eminence about throwing rice when we wash the plates you know we

[3:55]wash the plates and there's rice in them so often you know

[3:59]I'm sure not all of you that wash the dishes yes you

[4:04]are what just putting the rice in the yeah in the garbage

[4:08]in their rubbish or in the sink when you are washing their

[4:11]plane yes he was asked his Eminence is this allowed this is

[4:16]this is his answer layout juice not permissible if it is rice

[4:25]that can be gathered and it can be used for what this

[4:29]is to give to animals even if it's a small amount of

[4:38]rice he says but if it's dirty or as far as the

[4:40]Earth of the way people live it is not possible to use

[4:46]it not possible at all even for Animals then yes it can

[4:53]be thrown in the rubbish provided it's not considered is not considered

[4:58]what something which is disrespectful with the favors and the blessings of

[5:07]Allah even when it comes to Rice grains you know this throwing

[5:11]away rice let alone sometimes you know fruits are thrown away that

[5:17]are perhaps edible or anything else that unfortunately results in wastefulness the

[5:21]month of Ramadan is perhaps an opportunity for us to re-examine that

[5:25]habit in our lives and to ensure that we do not necessarily

[5:30]fall into this trap of shaytan why because the Quran says those

[5:37]who are wasteful are brothers of the shaytan yes and when Allah

[5:46]says I do not like those who are wasteful we do not

[5:51]want to be God forbid of the category of those individuals who

[5:54]take this likely
