[0:14]foreign what is an addiction an addiction is the need for something
[1:26]to the point that you lose self-control the dependency on a substance
[1:37]on a behavior the dependency to the point that you lose self-control
[1:46]it takes over the mind it takes over your self-control you cannot
[1:53]control yourself you lose the ability to think logically and rationally the
[1:59]need for a substance to the point that you can't think logically
[2:05]and rationally you do what it takes to satisfy that craving that
[2:10]need that want you know that it's wrong you know that it's
[2:16]it's not doing you a service it's harming you it's destroying you
[2:21]but you can't control yourself you can't stop yourself you need it
[2:28]you want it you're willing to do whatever it takes you're willing
[2:34]to take risks break the law risk your relationship with others risk
[2:43]your reputation just to satisfy this need just to satisfy this addiction
[2:50]or this bad habit some addictions can be very deadly they could
[3:01]harm you like it drug addictions some drugs can be very harmful
[3:09]they can destroy your life they can destroy your health they can
[3:15]be very deadly depending on the drug other addictions are not as
[3:26]deadly but they can be very harmful for you and for others
[3:33]like smoking smoking is an addiction many of the people who smoke
[3:38]they're addicted to smoking and the problem with smoking is that not
[3:43]only does it destroy yourself it destroys your heart your lungs and
[3:48]destroys your health but it destroys the health of those around you
[3:51]your family members through secondhand smoke hurts them there are some form
[4:03]of addictions they don't destroy your health they don't destroy your physical
[4:08]health at least but they could destroy your mental health they could
[4:15]destroy your relationships or your marriage like addiction to pornography it has
[4:24]an effect perhaps not on your physical health but on your mental
[4:28]health i could develop psychological problems for you such as depression there
[4:37]are some addictions that can destroy your economic life and make you
[4:43]lose all of your money like gambling addictions it'll ruin your life
[4:50]and you lose all that you have now the question is is
[4:55]it possible to overcome an addiction is it possible to overcome a
[5:01]bad habit you know there's addictions the things that we mention and
[5:08]there's bad habits it's a bad habit it's not necessarily something that
[5:14]is haram or a sin it's not something that is necessarily illegal
[5:18]and you're breaking the law but it's a bad habit it's it's
[5:23]it's something that you've been wanting to stop something that you want
[5:29]to control yourself but you haven't been able to is it possible
[5:33]to overcome an addiction or a bad habit absolutely absolutely it's possible
[5:39]and we know it's possible because there's millions of people that have
[5:45]been able to overcome their addiction there are millions of people that
[5:50]have been able to overcome a bad habit and so can you
[5:54]and so can everyone and you've been telling yourself that i want
[5:59]to overcome this addiction i want to overcome this bad habit and
[6:03]you've been putting it off now here's the chance here's the chance
[6:09]to make a decision to overcome this addiction to overcome this bad
[6:17]habit to make it a decision and stick to the decision until
[6:21]you come out victorious and we are here to help you we
[6:25]are here to walk with you in this process in this journey
[6:35]it's very much possible it's very much possible to overcome this addiction
[6:42]this bad habit and this is what you will decide on doing
[6:46]in the month of muharram in the month of imam hussain ali
[6:53]salah you seek support from yamaha from imam hussain you seek inspiration
[6:59]and motivation from this great imam in this month and you stop
[7:07]your addiction first of all before we get started there is different
[7:10]there's different kinds of addictions when we say an addiction people have
[7:18]all kinds of addictions they're not all the same someone might have
[7:22]one form of addiction while someone else will have a second form
[7:28]a third form and there are some that can have several kinds
[7:32]of addictions so let's pinpoint them out one and this is quite
[7:37]abundant this is quite uh it's not rare smoking addictions there are
[7:44]many people that are addicted to smoking most smokers are addicts they
[7:50]are addicted to smoking meaning that it is not easy for them
[7:56]to stop it is not easy for them to quit they feel
[7:58]that their life depends on it or that their day depends on
[8:05]it they can't go throughout the day without smoking without taking a
[8:09]break another problem is that smoking has been proven scientifically to harm
[8:16]your health depending on the amount that you smoke it could damage
[8:21]your health it damages the lungs it damages the uh it damages
[8:29]your throat it damages your heart it can cause heart disease it
[8:35]can cause heart attacks in the future it can destroy your arteries
[8:41]and it could cause cancer it can cause lung cancer to the
[8:49]minimum and we live at a time of covid19 and it's been
[8:52]proven that the coronavirus is more detrimental and more harmful to smokers
[8:58]than it is to non-smokers because smokers have a very weak lung
[9:05]they have weak lungs and the coronavirus it hits the lungs so
[9:09]if if you have lungs that are already uh weak and destroyed
[9:17]the coronavirus can easily come in destroy what's remaining of it now
[9:23]is smoking that's another topic most scholars say it's some scholars say
[9:29]it is haram some say that if it is proven to be
[9:34]detrimental to your health if you smoke a lot to the point
[9:37]that it's detrimental to your health it's haram otherwise it's we are
[9:40]not talking about whether it's halal or haram right now we're talking
[9:43]about whether you can overcome this addiction or not everyone agrees that
[9:50]it's an undesirable behavior even smokers themselves admit that if i'm able
[9:56]to quit i would quit they're not proud of what they do
[10:00]they're not happy that they're they're smoking they're not only hurting themselves
[10:04]but they're hurting those that are around them a smoking husband affects
[10:10]his wife his children a smoking wife affects her husband her children
[10:15]and so on and so forth you're not only hurting yourself but
[10:18]you're hurting others and you're spending an awful lot amount of money
[10:25]on cigarettes this is one form of addiction another form of addiction
[10:30]is alcoholism those are addicted to alcohol and they become alcoholics they're
[10:39]constantly drunk they live off of alcohol this is not only detrimental
[10:46]to their health to their livers to their kidneys but they're also
[10:56]putting themselves and others in danger usually alcoholics they don't just stay
[11:02]at home they go out and drive under the influence so they
[11:07]are risking their lives and their they're risking the lives of anyone
[11:11]else who's on the street and many of them end up in
[11:16]jail this this addiction could end you up in jail you could
[11:23]end up killing someone if not killing yourself so this is very
[11:26]dangerous alcoholics tend to lose their families no one wants to live
[11:32]with an alcoholic they'll get divorced they'll lose their children they'll lose
[11:35]their job and they could lose their lives another kind of addiction
[11:44]which is a growing trend in some of our communities in the
[11:49]west is the drug addiction this is a problem among the youth
[11:57]being addicted to drugs all kinds of drugs especially now that some
[12:04]form of drugs are being legalized some states in some countries in
[12:11]some parts of the western world this is a growing problem even
[12:14]in the muslim community this is a problem some say well what's
[12:17]the big deal there are some drugs like marijuana that aren't very
[12:23]harmful they don't harm uh the health they don't kill it's not
[12:29]a big deal first of all it does harm your health it
[12:33]harms your lungs and it impairs your judgment you could get in
[12:38]a car accident you risk your life and you risk the lives
[12:42]of others and for some it could become a gateway drug meaning
[12:47]it opens the doors to other drugs other very dangerous drugs so
[12:54]it starts off small but it could end off with heroin they
[13:00]could kill they could ruin your life drugs have a very negative
[13:10]effect on the user on the individual on his work on his
[13:13]school on his business it costs a lot of money a lot
[13:19]of drug users run out of money they go into debt they
[13:23]could even get themselves into trouble so this is a growing problem
[13:30]in some of our communities another form of addiction that some people
[13:38]have is addiction to pornography so this addiction might not harm your
[13:45]physical health might not harm your physical health but it can ruin
[13:51]your life especially if you're if you're married it can ruin your
[13:55]love life even if you're not married in the future you will
[13:58]be married this sort of addiction can stay can stick with a
[14:06]person for several years if you're single you might think what's the
[14:11]big deal but when you're married it could destroy your marriage this
[14:15]sort of addiction being addicted to pornography it could make you unsatisfied
[14:22]with your spouse you will not be satisfied it could lead to
[14:28]negative sexual behaviors and it could ultimately cause unhappiness for you it
[14:39]could even cause depression for you it might not kill you it
[14:45]might not cause great physical harm for you but it can take
[14:48]a negative toll on you and on your marriage life another form
[14:54]of addiction is gambling and this is also common in some communities
[15:00]especially if there's casinos or there's underground casinos some people who have
[15:08]financial difficulties and problems they think they could fix those problems by
[15:14]going into gambling making easy money the problem is the problem with
[15:20]gambling is that and this is the addictive part is that you
[15:23]make easy money once twice you haven't spent much all of a
[15:28]sudden you've won a thousand dollars ten thousand dollars twenty thousand dollars
[15:31]while you would have to work an entire year or four months
[15:36]five months six months to earn that money it comes to you
[15:40]within in an instant and that's where the addiction grows you want
[15:45]that easy money again and again and again but the problem with
[15:49]gambling is that you win once you lose 20 times you win
[15:55]ten thousand dollars but you lose a hundred thousand dollars and you
[16:00]go into debt and you lose your money and you lose your
[16:05]house and you lose your credit and you're forced is selling your
[16:09]furniture and your force is selling your house and you're forced to
[16:13]move to another city you might even get yourself in trouble with
[16:16]the mafia or with the mob and you risk you risk your
[16:20]life and the lives of family members you see with all of
[16:29]these addictions the repercussions are great the addict doesn't think of them
[16:34]at the moment but when he thinks of the results if you
[16:37]think of the results the results could be detrimental you could be
[16:42]destroying your life the lives of those around you you could end
[16:45]your marriage you could lose your job you could end up in
[16:47]jail you could end up killing yourself and killing others because of
[16:53]some of these addictions some people say well i am forced to
[17:03]do drugs i am forced to do i'm forced into doing alcohol
[17:10]why because my life is tough i have a tough life i
[17:12]have a lot of problems i'm dealing with a divorce i have
[17:18]problems with my wife i have problems with my children i have
[17:24]problems at work i'm not doing so well financially i lost my
[17:31]job and hence i drink and hence i do drugs this is
[17:37]why i smoke it's because i have a stressful life i have
[17:39]to deal with anxiety i have exams i have midterms i have
[17:44]a final exam i have to write a paper i have to
[17:47]get into this university i have to get good grades i'm under
[17:51]a lot of pressure i'm under a lot of stress and anxiety
[17:58]and so i drink or i smoke or i do drugs because
[18:03]it helps me cope it helps me deal with my issues and
[18:09]my problems this is not correct alcohol drugs and smoking don't solve
[18:19]anything it doesn't solve anything if you drink does that fall does
[18:23]that solve your financial problems when you do drugs does that get
[18:28]you out of debt when you smoke does that stop you from
[18:32]announcing declaring bankruptcy these things don't solve the problem none of them
[18:41]do they only take your mind off they only make you forget
[18:45]you're avoiding the problem you're not solving the problem when you drink
[18:50]when you smoke when you do drugs of course i'm putting them
[18:55]all together although some are some smoking could be considered drinking is
[19:03]considered haram and again i'm not talking about whether they're this is
[19:09]besides the point i'm talking as addictions as problems for you something
[19:14]that you want to get rid of something that's destroying your life
[19:18]of course it varies smoking doesn't destroy your life like alcohol it
[19:23]doesn't destroy your life like drugs but still it's a bad habit
[19:29]it's something that's not good for your health and not good for
[19:34]others these things they only take your mind off of the problem
[19:37]they make you forget the problem they're not solving the problem for
[19:42]you they're not fixing your debt nor are they fixing your marriage
[19:46]nor are they solving your problems with your children nor are they
[19:50]providing you providing you with a good job nor are you getting
[19:56]promoted at work they're not solving the problem in fact they add
[20:01]to your problem they could add to your problem you could get
[20:06]arrested you could kill someone you're harming your health you could get
[20:09]cancer these things these addictions are adding to your problem they're not
[20:16]solving your problem if you want to solve your problem solve it
[20:20]in a real way face reality these are fake solutions these are
[20:24]not real solutions you're only taking your mind off you're forgetting you're
[20:28]getting drunk for the next two three four hours of getting drunk
[20:32]you'll forget that you're in debt you forget that you're getting a
[20:36]divorce you're for you forget that you have a problem but after
[20:40]once the effect of alcohol goes away reality kicks in again once
[20:47]the effect of drugs goes away reality kicks kicks in again and
[20:53]you're back to square one what are you going to do remain
[20:58]drunk all the time you can't do this you'll be ruining your
[21:01]life you'll be ruining your life like this face the problems you're
[21:05]in debt do something about it you have a problem with your
[21:10]husband with your wife do something about it fix your relationships fix
[21:14]your problems face your problems and fix them seek real solutions not
[21:19]fake solutions smoking is a fake solution alcohol is a fake solution
[21:26]drugs is a fake solution it's not real solutions seek real solutions
[21:30]to your problem you see my dear friends it's it all starts
[21:37]with this anyone who has an addiction it starts with this step
[21:42]first you have to acknowledge that you have a problem you have
[21:46]to recognize that you have a problem you have to admit that
[21:50]you have a problem there are some that refuse to admit he's
[21:54]on drugs he's addicted to drugs but he won't admit it it's
[21:59]not a big deal i'm doing it for fun i could stop
[22:02]at any moment really if you can stop at any moment stop
[22:06]today right now i'm not addicted to smoking smoking is not a
[22:13]big deal smoking is fun it's not a problem it doesn't even
[22:18]hurt it doesn't harm my health a lot of smokers they'll they'll
[22:22]beat around the bush they'll make so many excuses well lung cancer
[22:27]lung cancer can be caused by this by that but they'll mention
[22:30]so many excuses for lung cancer and they'll tell you that this
[22:35]and this this person was a smoker and he lived until 92
[22:42]95 she was a smoker and she lived until 85 they don't
[22:45]want to admit that smoking is a problem that smoking is detrimental
[22:49]to their health they don't own up to the problem they're not
[22:53]willing to acknowledge that they have a problem whether it comes to
[22:57]drugs or alcohol or smoking or pornography or gambling or any bad
[23:03]habit those who usually have bad habits they won't admit they won't
[23:07]admit that it's a bad habit there are some people that sleep
[23:12]all day and are awake all night this is a bad habit
[23:17]of course this is not as equivalent as to drinking or gambling
[23:21]but it's still a bad habit they'll make excuses for themselves that
[23:26]yes i am just as productive at night as i am during
[23:30]the day this is not an excuse allah has created the night
[23:36]for sleep and the day for work any bad habit that you
[23:41]that you have first you have to own it first you have
[23:43]to acknowledge it admit to yourself that you have a problem otherwise
[23:50]you cannot change how can you change if you don't admit that
[23:54]you have a problem can someone who doesn't admit that he's overweight
[23:58]ever exercise exercise begins after accepting the fact that you're overweight once
[24:06]you own this fact once you're admitted then you begin to exercise
[24:12]how can you get rid of an addiction if you don't even
[24:14]think it's a problem if you live in denial if you deny
[24:16]it to yourself and you deny it to your family members and
[24:20]your relatives and your friends and you say that i don't have
[24:25]a problem there's no problem and you pretend that everything is normal
[24:28]this is not a solution the first step is that you embrace
[24:33]the problem you say yes i have a problem i have an
[24:38]addiction you don't have to say it to people say it to
[24:40]yourself you don't have to announce it on facebook or write a
[24:45]tweet on twitter and say that i have a alcohol problem no
[24:51]admit to yourself to yourself say yes i do have a problem
[24:54]and i need to overcome this problem i need to change i
[24:59]can't keep on living this way admit to yourself that it's a
[25:04]problem and accept it psychologically and emotionally embrace it then you'll be
[25:09]able to go to the second step and the third step but
[25:11]if you live in denial there's no way that you can change
[25:18]recognizing the problem is not enough this is the first step then
[25:23]you have to come to a second step and that is to
[25:29]make a decision to change you become self-determined to change your habit
[25:36]to change the addiction to stop the addiction making a firm decision
[25:42]and not allowing yourself to soften up not being easy on yourself
[25:48]you know with children sometimes we make a decision we tell them
[25:55]for example no more candy or it's limited but with you know
[25:58]with the youngest child we soften up with that with the teens
[26:01]maybe we're firm we're rough but with the little ones we allow
[26:04]them to eat candy well you can't do that with yourself you
[26:08]can't soften up once you make a decision to change and to
[26:12]move on and to stop the bad habit and the addiction remain
[26:16]firm stick to your decision and remind yourself of this decision every
[26:24]day write it write it on a mirror look at it the
[26:29]first thing that you wake up look at that decision that you've
[26:33]decided to stop this behavior you don't have to put it somewhere
[26:36]where people see and you could make a a symbol of it
[26:43]write an x put a symbol that only you would know what
[26:47]it is but remind yourself in the morning in the evening throughout
[26:50]the day if some people know of your addiction of your problem
[26:54]of your bad habit and they're trying to help you let them
[26:59]know of your decision they'll support you they'll encourage you tell your
[27:06]wife tell your husband tell your close friends that you've decided to
[27:10]change that you've decided to overcome this bad habit and addiction they'll
[27:15]help you they'll encourage you they'll support you they will stick with
[27:21]you they will ask you how are you coping how are you
[27:25]doing and this is important have a strong will you know as
[27:30]they say if there is a will there is a way human
[27:33]beings are capable of doing anything they want if they have a
[27:40]will if they have a strong will they can do it if
[27:43]a human being can land on the moon and a human being
[27:49]can reach mars pretty soon this human being cannot overcome an addiction
[27:52]cannot stop smoking or cannot stop drinking or cannot stop drugs or
[27:57]cannot stop gambling or cannot stop pornography or if there's a will
[28:04]there's a way and tell yourself you can do it this is
[28:09]very important making a decision is not enough tell yourself you can
[28:14]do this you have the power you have the energy you have
[28:18]the will to overcome this addiction tell yourself you can do it
[28:23]imagine life without this addiction imagine life without this bad habit imagine
[28:28]a normal life you wake up early in the morning you go
[28:31]to work you come back you have a beautiful family you live
[28:38]with them a beautiful life you go out with them on the
[28:44]weekends you live a normal life without all these addictions without all
[28:47]these bad habits imagine how beautiful life would be imagine that life
[28:50]put put that image in your mind every day and remind yourself
[28:56]of the day remind yourself of it every day and make it
[28:59]your goal to reach that image and to live that image you
[29:05]can do it there's no will greater than the will of human
[29:10]beings except allah's will after the will of allah the will of
[29:14]human beings human beings can do what they want to do if
[29:22]they have a strong will if they decide on doing it they
[29:25]can do it tell yourself that others have done it why can't
[29:31]you overcome your addiction why can't you stop smoking haven't others stopped
[29:36]smoking why can't you stop gambling weren't there thousands of gamblers before
[29:44]you who stopped why can't you stop drinking why can't you quit
[29:50]your alcohol problem and stop being an alcoholic others haven't done it
[29:55]they have many others have done this before you you're not the
[30:00]first and you're certainly not the last you will not be the
[30:03]first person to stop this addiction you're not the first and you
[30:08]won't be the last others have done it before you so if
[30:11]others have why can't you if others who were in worse shape
[30:17]than you of those who were doing heroin and cocaine those who
[30:23]were constantly drinking this they're now sober now they have normal lives
[30:28]now they have everything together they have a beautiful family they're married
[30:33]they have children they're back to work they were able to do
[30:38]it why can't you aren't you a human being like them don't
[30:41]you have a strong will like them what makes you different from
[30:46]others nothing if they were able to overcome their addictions then so
[30:53]can you don't say it's impossible i can't do this no you
[31:00]can because others others did too millions of others were able to
[31:05]overcome this problem and so can you now there's something very important
[31:13]that any person with an addiction has to do is to avoid
[31:19]triggers what do i mean by this you've made a decision to
[31:26]overcome this addiction to move on to start new but there are
[31:30]certain things that trigger triggers the mind that gets you back to
[31:35]that addiction a plays with your head with your mind for example
[31:41]going to certain places if you go to certain places it will
[31:45]remind you of your addiction i will make you want to go
[31:52]back for example certain places will make you crave smoking cigarettes you
[31:55]will want to go back to smoking cigarettes avoid those places there
[32:00]are certain individuals that will trigger you for example you used to
[32:06]do drugs with a certain individual and you haven't seen this person
[32:10]in a while when you see them again it will be triggered
[32:13]you will crave that addiction once again avoid those individuals whether they're
[32:18]friends their acquaintances whatever they were avoid them avoid triggers whatever it
[32:25]is that you feel will trigger you into going back into your
[32:28]addiction whether it's a place a person a food a drink uh
[32:34]whether it's tv whether it's the internet whether it's your phone whether
[32:38]it's your laptop whether it's your house your bedroom whatever it is
[32:43]that is triggering you avoid avoid it if you have a problem
[32:52]in staying in your bedroom because it will trigger you into doing
[32:55]some avoid your bedroom sleep somewhere else sit somewhere else if you
[32:59]go to certain places you'll be triggered to drink avoid avoid triggers
[33:05]that's very important another solution to overcoming addiction is educating yourself on
[33:13]that addiction read about your addiction look it up online google it
[33:19]what are the effects of this addiction what are the harmful effects
[33:24]what are the side effects what will happen to me if i
[33:28]continue smoking for 10 years for 20 years what sort of cancer
[33:32]will i develop what sort of heart disease will i develop look
[33:36]educate yourself learn what have you gotten yourself into read about the
[33:45]effects read about the experiences of others who dealt with this addiction
[33:51]and how they were able to overcome this addiction read about other
[33:55]people's experiences read about what they had to go through read about
[34:01]what it caused educate yourself knowledge is power the more you educate
[34:08]yourself on this problem the more you will develop a will and
[34:16]determination to stop to overcome because knowledge is power sometimes you need
[34:22]to seek professional help sometimes you've avoided triggers and you've made a
[34:28]strong decision and you've acknowledged that you have a problem and you
[34:32]educated yourself but you still have this problem you need to seek
[34:35]professional help seek professional help there's nothing wrong with that there's no
[34:41]shame in that if you need to see a psychologist if you
[34:43]need to see a psychiatrist to overcome your problem to overcome your
[34:48]addiction there's nothing wrong with this you could keep it confidential no
[34:51]one needs to know but there's no shame there's no shame in
[34:59]seeking help there's no shame in wanting to change there's shame in
[35:05]remaining the same and not wanting to change and remaining in that
[35:11]addiction there's shame in that there's no shame in wanting to change
[35:15]and to reform yourself and to have a better life there's no
[35:18]shame in this absolutely not and of course in all of this
[35:25]in all of these steps that you are taking to overcome your
[35:29]addiction or your bad behavior or your bad habit whatever it is
[35:33]even if it's halal even if it's not haram but you don't
[35:39]like it it's it's stopping you from being successful it's stopping you
[35:44]from enjoying your life it's harming your marriage it's harming your relationship
[35:49]whatever whatever bad habit it could be for example interrupting people it
[35:55]could be anger it could be shouting anger is a bad habit
[36:01]exhibiting anger is a bad habit to some degrees it's not haram
[36:08]unless you harm others you curse at others so there's bad habits
[36:14]and there's addictions and all of this and all of these steps
[36:18]that you've taken remember the most important step from the beginning till
[36:23]the end and this doesn't have to be at at the end
[36:25]it could be in the beginning rather it should be throughout all
[36:31]of the steps ask allah for help ask allah for support ask
[36:38]allah to give you a strong will ask allah to increase your
[36:46]determination ask allah not to make you weak to make you relentless
[36:49]to make you strong ask allah pray to him seek his help
[36:56]do not underestimate the power of dua my dear friends from the
[37:01]beginning till the end as soon as you acknowledge your problem ask
[37:06]allah for support and help do not underestimate the power of do
[37:12]not underestimate the power of quran in this in this problem a
[37:17]person who has an addiction stick to the quran recite quran along
[37:21]with all the other steps do not underestimate the power of salah
[37:29]do not underestimate the power of the masjid going to the mosque
[37:33]and attending night reciting all of these things will help you they
[37:42]will increase your will they will increase your determination do not underestimate
[37:48]the power of going to majalis especially the majalis of imam hussain
[37:54]especially during the nights of muharram where we learn about a courageous
[37:59]man that fought his enemy we're inspired to fight our enemy as
[38:02]well our inner enemy this addiction is an enemy our nephs that
[38:08]tells us to continue smoking and doing drugs and drinking or to
[38:16]watch pornography or to gamble or to do this or to do
[38:21]that we're inspired by imam hussain the way that he fought his
[38:26]enemies relentlessly with all courage and bravery we developed the courage and
[38:33]bravery to fight our neps and to fight our inner enemy we
[38:37]learn we we gain inspiration we gain motivation from the story of
[38:44]imam hussain ali remember yazid was an alcoholic this was one of
[38:53]the problems in yazid and imam hussain ali salam mentions this remember
[38:57]last night we said that when imam hussain was asked by al-waleed
[39:02]the governor of medina to give allegiance to yazid what did he
[39:04]imagine we are the household of rasulullah with us he began and
[39:15]with us he shall end fast is a corrupt individual he's an
[39:27]alcoholic yazid was an alcoholic he had an alcohol problem so who
[39:34]who do you want to be like look at the qualities of
[39:40]hussein and look at these the qualities of of yizi you cannot
[39:43]come to the imaginess of imam hussain and claim to love imam
[39:45]hussain if you are not willing to overcome your alcohol problem your
[39:53]drug problem yes many people have problems but those who love imam
[39:58]hussain decide to change decide to decide to do something about it
[40:01]yazid one day saw imam hussain when his father was still alive
[40:05]when muawiyah was still alive he came to medina from and he
[40:12]saw imam hussain in medina and he was drinking and he offered
[40:17]imam hussain a drink imam hussain says he told him by god
[40:22]i never allowed this drink to mix with my blood i never
[40:26]allowed this drink to enter my system yazid had allowed it to
[40:31]overcome him when i say this they were brought to the palace
[40:41]of yazid in sham after the tragedy of karbala after the tragedy
[40:50]the woman and children were taken to kufa and from kufa to
[40:54]sham and they were brought to the palace of yazid said zainab
[41:02]entered the palace of yazid and she saw the head of imam
[41:07]hussain in front of yazid yazid was drinking had a cup of
[41:13]wine he would drink and from time to time whenever his cup
[41:16]would a little bit would remain he would pour what is remaining
[41:20]on the head of imam hussain what a tragedy what a tragedy
[41:26]for isaiah zainab to witness in front of our eyes on the
[41:31]second day of muharram the caravan of imam hussain arrives to karbala
[41:35]the horse of imam hussain stops he changes his horse but the
[41:43]second horse refuses to move he asks for a third and a
[41:48]fourth none of them move so he asks his companions what is
[41:53]the name of this land someone said yep the name is nano
[42:03]someone else said someone else said atlaf and they mentioned many names
[42:08]until someone said and he kept on saying does it have another
[42:15]name this is where we will camp this is where we will
[42:52]stay aside comes out of your tent she still feels safe her
[43:01]brothers her sons her nephews are all around her and a night
[43:06]like this but on the eve of the twelfth of muharram when
[43:12]they were about to leave karbala say the zainab today she entered
[43:18]and on another day she had to leave but where was imam
[43:22]hussain ali salam he was no longer standing with her her sons

[43:31]on the battlegrounds on the battleground stripped of their armor without their
[43:35]heads without their armor cut into limbs into pieces and say that
