[0:07]muham and his Immaculate progeny of the B peace be upon them
[0:15]especially the leader of our time the awaited Savior may Allah hasten
[0:24]his reappearance and make us all amongst his sincere and dedicated servants
[0:29]respect Ed brothers and sisters Allah subhana wa taala states in the
[0:40]Holy Quran inah verse 224 and The Poets they are followed by
[1:08]those who are deviant do you not see that they enter any
[1:17]Valley any field whether it's beneficial or not and do you not
[1:23]see that the poets they do not practice what they say illuminate
[1:30]your hearts and Minds with a salawat muhamad music and the world
[1:42]of singing It's ubiquitous it's everywhere it is absolutely inescapable these days
[1:50]wherever you go you're bombarded with the music industry you're sitting at
[1:59]a restaurant owned by a Muslim Halal restaurant that music is on
[2:05]top of your head you're in the airplane going to your destination
[2:09]there's music you go to the mall you're exposed to music people
[2:13]around you are listening to music you open the news you want
[2:18]to see a few minutes of news they bombard you with music
[2:21]music music music singing singing singing everywhere we're surrounded with this IND
[2:30]with this world today that has infused us with all types of
[2:36]music and in fact it has become so widespread and pervasive if
[2:43]you don't listen to music and G and singing You're the Oddball
[2:48]you're the abnormal one you're the one who's missing out welcome to
[2:56]2024 that is the era that we are experiencing in one of
[3:03]the biggest challenges today that our community our society is going through
[3:08]is the Dilemma of G singing and music in our discussion this
[3:15]evening I would like to examine music in the following stages number
[3:19]one what is the Islamic perspective let's know the law does the
[3:23]Quran say anything about music do we have any hadiths that clarify
[3:30]what the position of Islam is towards music secondly what are the
[3:34]consequences of listening to music does it really have harmful effects that
[3:40]we can prove by science by studies or no does it have
[3:46]some good benefits or no because there are those who will tell
[3:49]you that music actually can be good for you it can change
[3:55]your mood it can get you out of depression it does a
[3:57]lot of good a brother once told me say when I listen
[4:01]to music I can stay focused I can do my work better
[4:05]does it really have such effects or no and finally let's take
[4:09]a quick look at what's happening today in the world of popular
[4:13]culture and how much people are investing their time their money and
[4:18]their emotional energy in the world of Music let's begin with the
[4:26]first discussion what is the position of Islam when it comes to
[4:28]music is is there any reference to it in the Holy Quran
[4:33]absolutely we have a number of verses that have addressed singing and
[4:38]music and when we say singing G we are referring to entertainment
[4:43]singing the entertainment type of music the one that you find in
[4:47]concerts for instance that type of singing and that type of music
[4:53]for instance you have verse 30 Allah states in the Holy Quran
[5:05]avoid the speech of Zur what's the definition of Zur the general
[5:14]definition of Zur is anything that's false falsehood now when you come
[5:20]to the prophet sallallahu alai who's authorized to do the of the
[5:25]Quran and when you come to the of the have explained to
[5:29]us that what is meant by the speech of falsehood in this
[5:39]verse is singing and let's say the music industry so we have
[5:42]a Hadith that explains this verse in the Holy Quran and the
[5:48]Quran commands us you Believers avoid this false speech which is music
[5:55]which is singing that's one verse in the Holy Quran another verse
[5:59]in the Holy Quran is verse 72 Allah describes the qualities of
[6:04]the pious ones and the Believers and Allah says amongst the qualities
[6:12]of the Believers they don't attend the Gatherings of Z they don't
[6:18]witness Zur the Imam was asked what is meant by Zur over
[6:24]here falsehood the Imam said and now we have a much stronger
[6:27]Hadith brothers and sisters at the end of the day I as
[6:34]a religious scholar I'm obligated to convey to you the teachings of
[6:37]even though we might find some of them to be harsh because
[6:42]they are addressing our reality according to onei from he stated listening
[6:56]to singing or engaging in Haram singing is something that Allah has
[7:05]promised the punishment of fire for it the IM was asked can
[7:08]you prove this from the Quran the IM cited verse 6 there
[7:25]are some people who buy and purchase the D diversion of speech
[7:33]the IM was asked what is what's the diversion of speech the
[7:39]IM said music singing that's what the verse is referring to they
[7:48]shall have a humiliating punishment on the day of judgment so the
[7:53]Imam said these verses in the Quran are commenting on singing and
[7:59]music therefore there is no doubt in the religion of Islam that
[8:04]entertainment singing is Haram engaging in it is Haram participating in it
[8:10]is Haram listening to it is Haram there is no doubt about
[8:13]that and when you come to the world of hadiths we have
[8:18]countless hadiths that tell us listening to singing leads to NF it
[8:23]leads to hypocrisy meaning it weakens your faith listening to and singing
[8:32]reduces your appetite to worship Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala like one brother
[8:36]was telling me say what's the problem with music I don't really
[8:38]find that it distracts me from God was on a Thursday night
[8:44]I told him Habibi if you're listening to your favorite music track
[8:48]for like 30 minutes do you really feel right after it you're
[8:50]in the mood to do Dua you're in the mood to get
[8:56]up and pray you're in the mood to remember the you're in
[8:59]the mood to remember death and the day of Judgment of course
[9:05]not it deflates you from genuinely worshiping Allah subhana wa taala most
[9:10]of the times so we have numerous hadiths my dear brothers and
[9:15]sisters that clearly State singing is Haram and that singing is one
[9:19]of the tactics that Shan uses to pull people Allah states in
[9:24]the Holy Quran in the Holy Quran tells us Shan has tools
[9:32]he's got an army he's got the Infantry Division he's got the
[9:37]Riders read the Quran and then one of the tactics of Shan
[9:43]Allah says he pulls you with his voice what's the voice of
[9:47]Shan how does he pull you with his voice through singing in
[9:52]the music industry and this is very important for us to know
[9:55]my dear brothers and sisters that if I'm sitting in my house
[10:00]and I'm listening to music and singing I am attracting and devils
[10:04]and demons do you really want to do that to your room
[10:09]imagine you're in the privacy of your room you're listening to music
[10:14]and you're attracting shtin and you are repelling the Angels We Have
[10:19]authentic hadiths that state the Angels do not enter a room in
[10:23]which there is singing singing and music is being played or listened
[10:26]to so I'm pushing away the Angels I'm attracting ing the is
[10:32]that something I really want in my life so there's no question
[10:39]that Shan uses music and singing as a tactic to deceive people
[10:44]and we have a Hadith that tells us when Prophet Adam died
[10:51]his sonil came he was joyful because he was evil and he
[10:54]hated his father for favoring some of his other good brothers so
[10:58]on the day that he died he actually had a party had
[11:03]a party when his father Adam died and the Hadith tells us
[11:10]Shan appeared to him and he taught him how to party by
[11:13]teaching him musical instruments by teaching him singing and musical instruments so
[11:19]there's no doubt if you look at the religious perspective music is
[11:24]Haram it's discouraged and it takes the Baraka away from your life
[11:30]but now let's get to the pressing question why like someone once
[11:35]said say it why does Islam have this problem with music it's
[11:39]just music for God's sake what's the big deal or like another
[11:43]brother said I'm not harming anyone I'm just listening to harmless music
[11:50]and the comfort of my room I'm not bothering anyone say it
[11:55]it's not like I'm killing somebody or backbiting or causing in any
[12:02]FNA or damage in society what's the big deal and that is
[12:05]a question that runs through our minds seriously what is the big
[12:09]deal with music why is it considered a big sin in the
[12:11]religion of Islam why do we have so many narrations warning us
[12:16]to stay away from the world of Music whenever we want to
[12:25]make sense of something being harmful or healthy to us it's always
[12:31]helpful to look at the reality of our lives and in doing
[12:36]so we consult science we consult research and we consult the field
[12:42]of psychology I will share with you several dimensions and studies that
[12:48]demonstrate that the world of singing and music is harmful to us
[12:54]my dear brothers and sisters Allah does not prohibit something if there's
[12:59]goodness in it if there's something good in it Allah would have
[13:02]recommended it there's nothing good for the human being except that Allah
[13:05]either made it waj or must so if something is Haram or
[13:09]discouraged it means it's harmful for us and modern science has proved
[13:15]that music and singing does a lot of damage to us my
[13:21]dear brothers and sisters I'll share with you some dimensions of that
[13:26]the First Dimension numerous Studies have demonstrated that when people constantly listen
[13:32]to many types of music and they get addicted to singing and
[13:37]music it impacts their brain just as some drugs impact your brain
[13:42]I invite you all tonight to go to go online and look
[13:47]up this study done by Migel University in Canada it's the top
[13:50]school in Canada the top college or university in this study they
[13:58]show that many types of music especially the heavier types of music
[14:03]they cause addictions like drugs do and there is an area in
[14:11]the brain that you can actually see in a device right they
[14:14]have all these types of devices like a special type of an
[14:19]an MRI scan that they put on the head to monitor the
[14:23]activity in the brain you see the activity of the neurons in
[14:28]the brain there's an area in the brain that lights up when
[14:35]people do drugs that same area lights up when these people listen
[14:40]to music so the study concluded that many of the harmful effects
[14:44]of drugs are actually found in several types of music is that
[14:52]really something that I want myself to be exposed to now I'm
[14:56]not saying here that if you listen to music it's like you've
[14:59]done heroin of of course there are degrees of harm but the
[15:02]idea of the study is that it does damage to your brain
[15:07]and it causes an addiction just like drugs and that is why
[15:14]people who are addicted to music when they listen to music initially
[15:19]they feel good there are some youth tell me say w I
[15:22]feel good I'm not lying I agree with you Habi I don't
[15:26]dispute that you do feel good but the reason why you're feeling
[15:29]good is because you're addicted just like the guy who's a drug
[15:34]addict of course when he needs his dose and he takes his
[15:37]dose he feels so good he feels like he's flying on Cloud9
[15:42]obviously you'll feel good because you're addicted that's a sign of addiction
[15:46]and the proof is the one who's not addicted to music the
[15:52]one who doesn't listen to music when music and singing is played
[15:54]to them they don't feel good it doesn't change their and make
[15:59]their mood better or as you guys say why why if music
[16:08]is something that makes you feel good it changes your mood those
[16:11]people who don't listen to music how come they don't get that
[16:16]effect because they're not addicted it's an addiction my dear brothers and
[16:20]sisters and that's why you think you feel better initially you do
[16:23]feel better like drugs but then once you get to the withdrawal
[16:29]state it does its damage on your psychology on your mind on
[16:32]your mental health many Studies have demonstrated that and I invite everyone
[16:37]to go and verify this I'm not asking you to accept what
[16:41]I say just because I'm saying it here on the pulpit go
[16:46]and verify this and see all the studies that have shown that
[16:48]many types of music are harmful to the brain and they have
[16:52]the effect of drugs that is the First Dimension that shows us
[16:57]the harms of listening to music music The Second Dimension many Studies
[17:03]have shown that listening to certain types of music leads to substance
[17:11]abuse and alcohol abuse a famous study was done by the National
[17:18]Institute of alcohol abuse and alcoholism they found out that those people
[17:25]who listen to many types of music especially like the heav heavier
[17:31]one you know the one that gets you to dance and forget
[17:33]like the world exists those types of music they increase the likelihood
[17:43]of people trying drugs and getting drunk and suffering from alcohol abuse
[17:47]this is empirical data that I'm sharing with you many people in
[17:54]society it's because of their addiction to music that they ended up
[17:58]drinking and they ended up trying drugs there's a correlation between these
[18:03]two so when Islam comes and tells you stay away from it
[18:06]this is not good Islam is saving your life Islam is saving
[18:11]your mental health Islam is protecting you from all these negative consequences
[18:16]that's the second dimension the third dimension my dear brothers and sisters
[18:20]I invite you all if you really have doubts about whether music
[18:26]is harmful or not I invite you to do what is called
[18:30]content analysis of the lyrics sometimes I go and I read the
[18:34]real lyrics online because I want to see what's the content of
[18:42]the music according to studies that analyze all the lyrics out there
[18:47]in the world 70% of all lyrics cover the following topics they're
[18:57]about drugs violence crime aggression and Haram relationships 70% of all the
[19:10]lyrics out there they are centered around these topics now imagine what
[19:14]you're doing to your soul and mind and intellect when you expose
[19:20]yourself to that has a beautifuli he says says I am shocked
[19:37]at the one who thinks of his food whether it's hygienic or
[19:43]not whether it's clean or not but he doesn't think of what
[19:47]he feeds his mind and soul if today someone gives you a
[19:53]plate and let's say you're starving at the time of okay you
[19:57]really want that food and you see some uncleanliness in the plate
[20:03]any type of uncleanliness a a fly falls in the plate there's
[20:06]a strand of hair in the plate would you eat it especially
[20:11]the sisters I don't know maybe some brothers would would you eat
[20:14]it you would not eat it why you're not going to die
[20:19]the the the chances of you dying are very low Habibi if
[20:21]you eat that plate of food that has a strand of hair
[20:25]in it okay it's not going to kill you but you will
[20:28]not eat it because you don't want to put that in your
[20:32]system and IM says I'm shocked that the one who's very meticulous
[20:36]when it comes to his food but when it comes to his
[20:41]soul his mind his intellect he feeds it anything people who listen
[20:45]to music regularly whether they like it or not they are exposing
[20:48]themselves to the 70% because someone can come and tell me say
[20:55]I only listen to the very clean lyrics the very good music
[20:57]that's the only only thing that I'm addicted to say it I
[21:02]can try to buy that but sorry I don't know if I
[21:06]can when you're addicted to music and you listen to it and
[21:10]it's a regular part of your life you will venture into that
[21:14]70% you will fall into that 70% you will be listening into
[21:23]that 70% so Islam is protecting you Allah is protecting you close
[21:29]this door 70% % of all the content there is damaging to
[21:31]your NFS and your soul and your intellect it's negative content I
[21:36]invite you today my dear brothers and sisters go and take the
[21:40]names of the top I don't know what chart they call them
[21:45]Billboard 100 200 5,000 go and see the top songs and then
[21:50]Google the lyrics just see the content of these top songs that
[21:55]people are listening to Well if they have something beneficial to say
[21:59]come and share it with me you think those top Billboard songs
[22:04]they teach you Allah how to be a good person be charitable
[22:07]go and donate W sponsor an orphan think of your grave think
[22:14]of Allah think of the day of judgment be good to Mom
[22:16]and Dad maybe out of 10,000 songs one would probably have some
[22:21]of these references but that's not the music world Habibi people who
[22:24]are going to concerts that not that's not what they're listening the
[22:28]singer is not dancing so you go after the concert and kiss
[22:32]your mom's hand and be more dutiful to your parents when you
[22:36]leave that concert you're not going to go and sponsor an orphan
[22:39]that's not what they're teaching at these concerts 70% of all lyrics
[22:45]is destructive negative content that defies your humanity and it's just pure
[22:51]entertainment without a goal just do content analysis that is the world
[22:56]of Music my dear brothers and sisters yes there may be some
[23:02]people who really only listen to clean lyrics but that's very rare
[23:06]that's very rare most people who are addicted to music they're not
[23:09]listening to those clean lyrics all day long you know sometimes when
[23:16]someone ask you say the type of songs and music that I'm
[23:18]listening to is it Halal Oram you want to know right I
[23:24]can already tell you right off the bat that type that you're
[23:26]listening to and you're addicted to must be cuz if it was
[23:31]the Halal type you would have found something else productive to fill
[23:34]in that void and GAP content analysis tells us what's going on
[23:40]out there in popular culture so this is one concern with the
[23:45]music industry now let's come to the fourth dimension which is the
[23:49]most important Dimension my dear brothers and sisters do you know the
[23:54]effect of the world of the MU of music and singing on
[23:56]your mental health those who tell you music is good it uplifts
[24:02]your spirit it gets you out of depression I want them to
[24:05]consider this and think about this the highest rates of depression anxiety
[24:14]and suicide are found among who among Who doctors doctors are stressed
[24:24]out because if you're a doctor you work at a hospital sure
[24:26]you can get stressed out it could impact your mental health but
[24:28]no doctors don't have the highest rates of depression and suicide who
[24:35]has the highest rates of depression anxiety and feeling of loneliness and
[24:42]Society okay teenagers they're suffering definitely yes someone said it artists musicians
[24:51]and singers have among the highest rates of depression and anxiety in
[24:59]society these are official statistics done in Sweden 2019 I saw a
[25:03]Swedish report that confirmed this they said 73% of independent musicians suffered
[25:10]from chronic depression what's a national average 20% three times more three
[25:16]times more amongst musicians and singers another study was done in the
[25:23]UK by the British government they looked at rates of depression amongst
[25:28]populations now the national a average was 19% which is significant I
[25:31]mean one out of five people is suffering from depression that's a
[25:35]sad reality that we are experiencing these days with all of our
[25:38]technology and science our mental health is getting worse it's not getting
[25:41]better but then they looked at subcategories of people doctors Engineers lawyers
[25:48]and then they looked at musicians and singers what did they discover
[25:54]they discovered that 73% of musicians and sing in the UK they
[26:00]suffer from depression or anxiety or loneliness how many times more than
[26:07]the national average more than three times can you imagine now the
[26:13]question is why are these guys poor Haram they're sleeping on the
[26:17]street they don't have food to eat they're the richest people they
[26:19]are the richest of people in society the musicians the singers the
[26:23]famous singers they have millions if not billions of dollars there are
[26:29]billions iire musicians today and artists in our time and you know
[26:33]their names it's not money so what is it then har nobody
[26:36]gives them the spotlight they have the greatest Spotlight there are the
[26:42]most followed people in the world on social media they're the most
[26:47]followed people what is the problem then Subhan Allah 14 centuries ago
[26:57]stated IMI famously stated prolonged exposure to singing leads to Poverty what
[27:08]type of poverty was Imam Ali referring to spiritual and psychological and
[27:14]mental poverty you can have millions but you're poor why because you're
[27:18]not enjoying your life you're not happy you have the highest rates
[27:22]of depression and suicide and anxiety now I'm not here to judge
[27:27]anyone my dear brothers and sisters I'm not here to judge the
[27:30]musicians and the singers and the artists I am just sharing with
[27:33]you the reality statistics the world out there don't look at social
[27:39]media they're smiling and they're acting happy most of them are not
[27:43]happy 73% these are official statistics that means out of every four
[27:47]musicians and singers three of them they're not happy they're stuck in
[27:53]depression in 2006 there was a very famous singer in France by
[28:01]the name of diams I invite you to read her story it's
[28:04]all on YouTube you can see the interviews many articles about this
[28:10]very fascinating diams in 2006 became the most famous artist and singer
[28:16]in France when she released her first album that year 50,000 copies
[28:22]were sold within a week the top artist in France during that
[28:27]time now all this Fame this recognition the commotion the social media
[28:35]she was not feeling happy she would go to the concerts people
[28:39]are cheering people would die to get a photo with her but
[28:44]she would not be feeling at peace she would suffer from depression
[28:49]from anxiety loneliness subhanal look at the irony you're surrounded by millions
[28:54]of fans but you feel lonely is is it isn't that something
[29:00]to think about why she got so depressed she she left the
[29:04]world of music she just took some time off and depression is
[29:09]a very destructive disease so at the height of her depression one
[29:14]day she goes to visit her Moroccan friend she had a Moroccan
[29:18]friend who was Muslim her name is Susu look up her story
[29:25]it's very fascinating so at the height of her depression this French
[29:28]singer diams she goes to visit her friend suzu in her apartment
[29:33]for the first time in her life diim sees something unusual she
[29:42]sees suzu her Muslim Moroccan friend pray and prostrate on the floor
[29:46]that was her first time seeing anyone prostrate on the floor that
[29:52]grabbed her attention after suu finished her Salah the French singer told
[29:56]her what is it that you were doing you were prostrating on
[30:01]the on the ground why she told her I was worshiping my
[30:04]Lord I was thanking Allah this is sujud it's part of our
[30:08]prayer diam asks her Muslim friend I'm not Muslim is it okay
[30:15]for me to also do suud she told her of course any
[30:20]human being can fall into prostration and worship Allah you don't have
[30:25]to be Muslim in order to worship God or to do s
[30:29]sure diim says for the first time in my life I fell
[30:36]into suud and prostration and the feeling the Comfort the serenity the
[30:42]peace I experienced is something never in my life had I tasted
[30:46]I never got that piece in my concerts and all my fame
[30:52]my wealth nothing gave me that peace that this sujud gave me
[30:54]know the value of your sujud my dear brothers and sisters know
[30:58]the power of your sujud that sujud changed her life after a
[31:03]while she converted to Islam and she left the music world and
[31:08]the singing world I saw an interview that a French journalist did
[31:13]with her now by the way you know France very anti-religious Society
[31:19]especially they're very islamophobic when she became Muslim that was an alarm
[31:24]in France because now she was going to inspire many youth to
[31:28]become Muslim so what is the French media do character assassination let's
[31:32]call her crazy she's insane she's got problems she's a terrorist she's
[31:36]Isis she's this she's that at the time there wasn't Isis Al
[31:40]Whatever She's a terrorist so they really destroyed her reputation the French
[31:46]media this French reporter this is on YouTube you can Google it
[31:52]the French reporter asks her diams I have a question for you
[31:56]you had everything that anyone can dream of you had the dream
[32:00]life money Fame reputation all the spotlight and France respected you when
[32:06]you were a famous singer now you're nothing now the French media
[32:14]has destroyed your character how do you feel about that you know
[32:19]what she said you know what was her response she said I
[32:25]don't care about any of that when I had all of that
[32:29]I did not have Allah now I have Allah in my life
[32:33]I couldn't care less about what you said now I have my
[32:38]relationship with Allah that's something you can only get from your relationship
[32:42]with Allah subhana wa ta'ala so look at the studies my dear
[32:45]brothers and sisters all of that is not helpful to your mental
[32:49]health let's not be fooled by our society that tells us music
[32:54]is good for you it changes your mood it gets you out
[32:56]of depression for most categories of music that is not true it's
[32:59]doing the exact opposite and the proof is the people who work
[33:05]in this field the people who constantly exposed to this it is
[33:08]a type of addiction that's not helpful I've known brothers and sisters
[33:11]in this community who had the courage and strength to say no
[33:17]to music and they stopped the first month was very difficult for
[33:20]them a brother once at a retreat he told me say that
[33:24]first month was hard I admit but then month two and month
[33:27]three came and they were the most peaceful months in my life
[33:32]I never knew how music was damaging me and how it was
[33:37]addicting like a drug when Islam says keep away from the world
[33:41]of music and singing Islam is actually protecting you it's protecting your
[33:46]mental health it's protecting your values because these studies are showing people
[33:52]who are prolonged they they they have prolonged exposure to music it
[33:58]affects their character it affects your moral compass is that something that
[34:04]I really want to expose myself to and then we come to
[34:07]the last Dimension my dear brothers and sisters which is all the
[34:10]emotional and financial resources that we're spending on this world that does
[34:19]not benefit us let's start with the emotional waste of our emotional
[34:24]resources when you look at these top singers to today like the
[34:31]number one singers right what are they singing about even those who
[34:36]are clean okay relatively clean what are they singing about go do
[34:41]content analysis to see how much emotional energy our society is wasting
[34:46]in these days when you analyze the content of many of these
[34:53]songs they're mainly about what relationships that broke your heart that relationship
[34:57]that guy that girl he broke my heart she broke my heart
[35:01]he backstabbed me she backstabbed him and we spend 20 years of
[35:05]Our Lives going through 50 relationships okay one relationship after another faded
[35:13]relationship after another failed relationship that's the reality today what is society
[35:18]teaching our teenagers you're 12 years old you start your world of
[35:22]relationships and then you get into all these different heart breakups and
[35:26]that lasts until your 30s before you get married into your 30s
[35:32]now when you tell them what is the benefit of this this
[35:34]is what they'll tell you yeah this is part of life that's
[35:39]how you experience life that's how you navigate through all these relationships
[35:43]so that finally you can find the one so that finally you
[35:47]can find your soulmate so I go and I burn 20 years
[35:54]of my youth trying to land on that soulmate there's a few
[35:57]problems with this Theory that Society is trying to brain is is
[36:01]trying to brain brainwash us with my dear brothers and sisters first
[36:07]of all the whole concept of having a soulmate where did that
[36:11]come from no Prophet no scripture No Quran no Hadith supports this
[36:16]idea that there's a soulmate out there for you this is not
[36:22]an Islamic concept my dear brothers and sisters there is no concept
[36:25]that there's only one perfect human being out there for you first
[36:28]of all there is no perfect human being last time I checked
[36:32]the only perfect human beings after the prophet are the okay no
[36:36]one is perfect so this superficial unreal idea that there is someone
[36:40]out there perfect for you and you have to go through all
[36:46]these relationships until finally you land on that perfect relationship that's just
[36:51]a mirage that does not exist Allah subhana wa ta'ala has created
[36:55]partners for us Allah says in the Holy Quran when Allah has
[37:03]created partners for you so you can find peace and Tranquility in
[37:08]do your job do research marry someone decent who's known to be
[37:15]decent that's it but for you to try 20 years of your
[37:16]life to arrive at that and figure out who your soulmate is
[37:23]no such thing exists and sometimes my dear brothers and sisters it's
[37:27]the trial of Allah that you live with someone who's difficult this
[37:31]is something we don't acknowledge in our era yes you try to
[37:36]marry someone good but is it guaranteed that you're going to live
[37:39]with a Heavenly spouse an Angelic spouse no look at the prophets
[37:42]and the imams they ended up with bad spouses doesn't the Quran
[37:46]tell us about Prophet n Prophet L both of their wives went
[37:50]to hell according toah that was their trial sometimes it's it's it's
[37:55]your trial to experience a disease sometimes it could be your trial
[38:01]to experience a financial crisis sometimes it's your trial to end up
[38:05]with a difficult spouse Allah wants to train you to see your
[38:11]patience to see your Iman Allah wants you to build your through
[38:13]this trial so this whole superficial idea that there is a soulmate
[38:18]out there who's going to give you the perfect life that doesn't
[38:24]exist and the proof look at these people who spent 20 years
[38:27]through these relationships okay finally they're 35 they think they got settled
[38:31]they get married they found the soulmate they found the perfect one
[38:35]2 years later they're divorced when s the soulmate where did the
[38:38]soulmate go you spend your whole life chasing that soulmate and you'll
[38:43]never reach that sometimes Allah gives you the to and you end
[38:48]up with a very decent spouse and sometimes it's your trial it
[38:54]doesn't work out that's trial that's part of Dunya but these songs
[38:58]that's the theme in them relationship after relationship after relationship after relationship
[39:03]heartbreak after heartbreak after heartbreak and we spend so much of our
[39:08]emotional energy on that 20 years of your youthful life your most
[39:14]productive Time of Your Life your most energetic time of your life
[39:19]it's spent on heartbreaks and this negative waste of emotional energy that's
[39:24]the world today my dear brothers and sisters just last month I
[39:27]was reading an article about a famous singer who I went to
[39:32]a packed stadium and the people were crying for hours in that
[39:36]Stadium listening to their favorite singer say those songs what what are
[39:41]these people crying about my dear brothers and sisters I'm not here
[39:45]to underestimate anyone's pain but most of it is what these failed
[39:48]relationships 10 years of your life got wasted you put all your
[39:54]heart and soul and emotional energy in a failed relationship and that
[39:59]guy backstabbed you and now you're sitting there crying the world is
[40:03]bigger than that my dear brothers and sisters you have extra tears
[40:06]habab you sit and cry over the children who are being massacred
[40:11]in Gaza you've got extra tears cry on the orphans you've got
[40:15]extra tears cry for your sins for the day of judgment for
[40:18]your future for you to sit there an hours and cry over
[40:23]love songs what is that doing to you how is that productive
[40:27]let's just assume it's not Haram forget the sin part and the
[40:30]Haram part how is that building you as a human being what
[40:32]is that doing to you all that's doing to you it's making
[40:37]you more depressed it's giving you more anxiety and more feeling of
[40:41]loneliness that's the reality that's the emotional energy that we're spending and
[40:47]then once you come to the financial resources yeah Allah do you
[40:52]know how much they spend on these concerts one concert 3 hours
[40:58]$20 million and Subhan Allah this is all mentioned in our Hadith
[41:02]one Hadith in describing the end of times it says at the
[41:08]end of times before the reappearance of the IM people will spend
[41:12]money on singing like crazy one concert one night $20 million some
[41:18]of those tickets are going for $10,000 $10,000 can you imagine what
[41:23]you could do with $10,000 for 2 three hours of what of
[41:27]distraction you're just getting distracted about the world of failed relationships a
[41:33]singer goes up there and she tells you about all of her
[41:38]failed relationships how she got into them and how she got out
[41:42]of them and you're paying $10,000 to listen to that well very
[41:46]strange World 2024 a brother told me in another state he told
[41:51]me say one of my friends came to our state to listen
[41:56]to a famous singer and they had killed themselves to get those
[42:01]tickets was very sold out event he said I told my friends
[42:08]if I were to give you now $10,000 to give up your
[42:14]ticket would you they were three he said one of them said
[42:15]yes two of them said no you give me $10,000 I'm not
[42:20]giving up that ticket I think if the prophet the Imam comes
[42:22]we're not willing to spend that much to see the prophet or
[42:26]the Imam honestly a lot of people AR they don't care what
[42:30]is that contributing to us again I'm not here to judge anyone
[42:35]I'm not underestimating anyone's pain but you live only once you live
[42:42]only once and you want to spend 20 30 years of your
[42:46]life in this type of culture and then suddenly suddenly you see
[42:51]the white hair is knocking at your door telling you the time
[42:57]is near you're going to have to leave one Hadith states that
[43:03]one day Prophet daud was in his castle you know he was
[43:09]a king he ruled after dusk when the gates of the palace
[43:12]were closed he saw someone appear out of nowhere prophet daud got
[43:19]scared he told him who are you how'd you get in that
[43:23]figure told him I am the one who enters anywhere without needing
[43:28]permission Prophet daud realized it's the angel of death so he asked
[43:34]him a question have you come to visit me because sometimes the
[43:42]angel of death would visit prophets or have you come for my
[43:45]soul this time he told him no this time I've come for
[43:48]your soul your time's up daud da told him why didn't you
[43:53]tell me give me a warning I could farewell my family write
[43:55]my final will whatever give me a morning he told him I
[43:59]did he told him when he's like you remember last year your
[44:04]cousin died that was my first letter to you that you're next
[44:06]your time is coming up 6 months ago your other cousin died
[44:13]that was my second letter to you your uncle died a while
[44:16]ago that was my third letter to you I've been sending you
[44:21]all these letters and that is the reality my dear brothers and
[44:24]sisters that is the reality we only live once the month of
[44:30]Ramadan is the the month of Ramadan is the time of reflection
[44:33]how do you want to live I know it's not easy I
[44:38]know we're surrounded with music I know the first people who will
[44:41]give you a headache and problem if you want to stop listening
[44:46]to music are your own family members not the Americans out there
[44:49]your own family members will stand in your face I know that
[44:52]which is a sad reality but try be firm come together collect
[44:57]collectively try my dear brothers and sisters if all of you try
[45:01]together you can make a difference if we can stop the Haram
[45:06]singing and music in our programs and sessions and weddings we can
[45:10]get somewhere if you raise awareness amongst your family members we can
[45:14]get somewhere if we stop sharing those Haram status singing messages we
[45:19]can get somewhere and by the way I have a request from
[45:23]you my dear brothers and sisters now what you do in the
[45:27]privacy of your room between you and Allah you want to listen
[45:29]to music or not I ask Allah to guide us and forgive
[45:34]us but I ask you for one thing never go on your
[45:36]status or your Facebook of your or your Tik Tok and share
[45:42]Haram singing and music with others that is a violation and disrespect
[45:46]to Allah it's one thing to disobey Allah in your own room
[45:52]okay may Allah forgive you may Allah guide us and forgive us
[45:54]but it's another level of disrespect to take something Haram and openly
[45:59]share it out there in the world that means I have no
[46:03]respect for Allah subhana wa ta'ala many many times I hear from
[46:08]people in the community say the minute you go to people from
[46:11]my family from my friends love songs har music they share that
[46:16]on their WhatsApp status on their Instagram on their Facebook you're addicted
[46:20]you want to listen to music don't listen but if you're going
[46:23]to do it at least in the privacy of your own room
[46:28]don't publicly come with the sin and display the sin that's an
[46:31]insult to Allah subhah wa ta'ala at the end of the day
[46:35]that is a violation of God's law that is a request that
[46:40]I have from your friends inshallah ask your friends at least as
[46:44]a first step not to do that something that's Haram don't share
[46:50]it that's the first step that we can take to observe the
[46:52]law of Allah subhana wa tala and respect the law of Allah
[46:55]subhanahu wa ta'ala so in indeed it is it is a trial
[46:59]my dear brothers and sisters but you will be at peace I
[47:01]guarantee you when you're strong and you say no you will be
[47:08]at peace and I conclude with this Hadith on the day of
[47:11]judgment there's a tree this tree generates Spiritual music now what exactly
[47:20]that is we don't know that's something inshallah you'll experience in heaven
[47:24]the Hadith States a breeze comes from from the Throne of Allah
[47:32]subhana tala a breeze comes and moves the leaves of this tree
[47:37]this tree generates spiritual m music by praising Allah the leaves they
[47:43]say Subhan Allah alhamdulillah they glorify Allah it generates such an amazing
[47:50]Spiritual music the Hadith States if the people of Earth would hear
[47:54]that music they would die out of Joy it's it's that level
[47:59]of Joy the Hadith States Allah has reserved this in heaven for
[48:02]those who don't listen to music in d d is 50 60
[48:08]years 70 80 years is it worth it Heaven is infinite infinite
[48:14]now someone can say say I'm doomed I've listened to music you
[48:18]can start start tonight repentance if you repent Allah will erase that
[48:22]if you repent Allah will convert your sins into Good Deeds that's
[48:29]what the Quran says those who truly repent Allah will convert and
[48:33]transform their sins into Good Deeds we just have a few days
[48:38]left from the month of Ramadan it is the month of forgiveness
[48:41]we ask Allah subhana waala to open our hearts to guidance we
[48:47]ask Allah subhana wa ta'ala to forgive us our sins we ask
[48:50]Allah to give us the strength and the power and the Iman
[48:55]to rise above these challenges and to always be his obedience raise
[48:59]your hands in Dua my dear brothers and sisters this is the
[49:02]moment of Dua when Believers gather Allah answers their prayer [Music] everyone
[49:39][Music] for [Music] let's recite and dedicate it to all those who
[50:21]have passed away from your to all those who are suffering especially
[50:27]the woman children in Gaza pray for them and we ask Allah
