[0:22]your enemy could be your own neighbor or your co-worker or your

[0:31]classmate and they may have that animosity towards you simply because they

[0:36]envy you because you're a successful person you have a successful position

[0:41]in life and they envy you this is one type of enemy

[0:44]other times the government could be your enemy because you're an outspoken

[0:52]critic of the government that's why they may have animosity towards you

[0:55]other times someone may hate you simply because of your beliefs simply

[1:00]because of your religion of your faith that's why they may hate

[1:05]you so we may come across many types of enemies throughout our

[1:09]lives brothers and sisters is was a companion of the seventh imam

[1:14]al-imam he asked the imam one day he tells him i have

[1:19]many enemies but which enemy should i fear the most should i

[1:23]be most alert of and cautious a beautiful answer brothers and sisters

[1:30]pay attention to what the imam said the imam told him yes

[1:35]you're right you have many enemies in your life but there's one

[1:39]enemy who's outstanding this enemy is the most dangerous of the enemies

[1:44]that you have this enemy could do the most damage to you

[1:48]he is the closest to you but at the same time he's

[1:53]the most difficult to see and feel and then the imam says

[1:57]that this enemy he doesn't fight you all by himself what he

[2:02]tries to do he tries to instigate all your other enemies he

[2:07]tries to find allies he forms an alliance against you so that

[2:10]all your enemies can launch one massive united attack against you so

[2:16]when the imam told hisham this hashem he was breathless he told

[2:21]them who are you speaking about rasulullah the imam told them i

[2:27]am speaking about none other than iblis the shaitaan satan satan is

[2:31]your number one enemy the shaitaan in this life so you have

[2:35]to be very very careful careful from shaytan the imam said he

[2:44]is the one that whispers in our hearts and then the imam

[2:51]says fella so be very careful and vigilant when it comes to

[2:55]the shaytan now some of us brothers and sisters may not feel

[2:59]the threat of the shaytan in our lives we don't think that

[3:04]the shaytan has a threat towards us so this may seem as

[3:09]an exaggeration why is the imam considering the shaitaan the number one

[3:11]enemy no there are other enemies that are stronger more capable and

[3:16]more dangerous four reasons why we should be alert and always cautious

[3:19]when it comes to the shaytan he has been given four powers

[3:24]brothers and sisters and inshallah tonight in the next few nights i'll

[3:26]speak about the shaytan and some of the tactics of the shaitan

[3:31]that he uses to misguide us so the shaytan has been given

[3:36]four powers and through these powers he misguides us and many of

[3:40]these things are mentioned in the holy quran number one the first

[3:45]strength of the of the shaytan is his quantity the shaytan isn't

[3:50]one individual when we speak about him we think that there's only

[3:54]one shaitaan one satan and he's misguiding me and he's guiding you

[3:57]and he's whispering to 7.8 billion no brothers and sisters the shaytan

[4:02]has billions of millions under him working for him 24 hours full-time

[4:07]job just to misguide you in fact the imam says says in

[4:15]one hadith that allah told ibilis that for every human being that

[4:19]is born you will also have a child he told this to

[4:22]the shaytan to make this test this life a little more difficult

[4:26]right so for every human being that is born there is a

[4:30]devil that is also born with him and that devil will be

[4:34]entrusted just to misguide that person he has no other job but

[4:37]to work on that person 24 hours a day from the day

[4:41]he's born until the day he dies so based on this tradition

[4:47]how many shayateen do we have today we have almost 8 billion

[4:50]devils all over the place because if we have almost 8 billion

[4:53]people for each person there's a shaitaan that means there are almost

[4:58]eight billion shayateen so the largest army on this world brothers and

[5:01]sisters isn't the us army it's not the russian or the chinese

[5:04]army the largest army is the shaitaan army this is number one

[5:09]number two his second strength is his proximity his close proximity to

[5:15]us the shaytan has 24-hour uninterrupted access to you whenever he wants

[5:23]he can come and sit next to you in your bedroom in

[5:26]your living room in your office in your car wherever you are

[5:30]he can come and he will be right there next to you

[5:34]and what does the shaitan do initially when he has that uninterrupted

[5:37]access to you know what he does he sits and he just

[5:40]monitors you he just assesses you evaluates you he studies you because

[5:49]he wants to see what your strong points are and what your

[5:52]weak points are because remember the shaitaan doesn't misguide everyone he doesn't

[5:56]use the same tactic for everyone he'll use a tactic with me

[6:00]a tactic with you and another tactic with someone else he's smart

[6:02]because he knows there are weak spots for every individual for some

[6:07]people his weak spot is what is money for other people not

[6:11]necessarily he may not be able to misguide them through money it

[6:13]could be through girls for example for other people it could be

[6:17]through fame right they love fame when they get a like on

[6:20]social media that's worth more than a million dollars for them so

[6:24]he knows what avenue to do with that person he'll use the

[6:27]avenue of fame and whatnot and you know in every military today

[6:31]it's not just about how many tanks and missiles you have what

[6:35]makes a military strong is also what their intelligence right that's why

[6:41]you have the fbi you have the cia every country has an

[6:45]intelligence system the job of the intelligence is what is to gather

[6:49]information about their enemy they know everything about them so they know

[6:53]how to strike how to defend themselves and that's what makes a

[6:58]powerful country strong it's their intelligence it's not just their weapons the

[7:02]shaytan has the most powerful and strongest intelligence he knows everything about

[7:06]you he knows more about myself than i do because sometimes we

[7:10]don't realize we don't even look you know reflect upon ourselves upon

[7:14]our character personality but he knows your vulnerabilities he knows everything about

[7:19]you even better than yourself so this is his second strong point

[7:22]his close proximity to you and he uses that to know what

[7:27]your strong and weak points are number three the third strength of

[7:33]the shaytan is that he is invisible the shaitan could be here

[7:39]in the masjid but he can't you can't see him he can

[7:41]see you but you cannot see him and allah mentions this in

[7:46]the holy quran allah says allah says the shaytan and his minions

[7:53]they can all see you but you can't so you're dealing with

[7:58]an invisible enemy that's why it's even much tougher to deal with

[8:04]this enemy because he's invisible that's why brothers and sisters you're never

[8:06]alone sometimes you're in your car you're in your office you're in

[8:11]your house you think you're by yourself there's no such thing as

[8:13]being by yourself because the shaytan will always be there you can't

[8:18]see him but he can see you and finally number four the

[8:22]fourth strength of the shaitaan is what his weapon the shaitaan has

[8:30]a very unique and bold weapon it's unlike all the other conventional

[8:33]weapons that we know today it's no gun it's no knife it's

[8:40]no missile f-16 and whatnot it's none of that he has something

[8:44]much more unique much more bold i can say than all these

[8:47]conventional weapons the weapon of the shaitaan is so dangerous because when

[8:55]he strikes you you don't even notice it he's in stealth mode

[8:58]his weapon is so bold when he strikes you don't even detect

[9:04]it you don't even know you know i've heard there are certain

[9:08]poisons that when you consume it when you take it it's it

[9:12]doesn't activate the same second it's in your body and then probably

[9:17]after it could be sleeping in your body for a couple of

[9:20]days maybe or a couple of um weeks and then it will

[9:25]only activate i i've heard i don't know i hope this is

[9:28]not from james bond movies but i've heard this you know i've

[9:30]read this online that there are such you know poisons that in

[9:35]the beginning it does nothing you've taken the poison but after a

[9:38]couple of days it starts doing the damage and likewise an example

[9:44]that we've all lived through for the last year is what the

[9:48]coronavirus why is the coronavirus so dangerous brothers and sisters because of

[9:52]its stealth nature you breathe in those particles you breathe in in

[9:57]those droplets of the virus and the virus virus damages your lungs

[10:03]and your respiratory system and sometimes you don't even know you can

[10:07]be asymptomatic i heard so many stories the last year and i'm

[10:10]sure you heard the same thing people who had absolutely no symptoms

[10:13]all of a sudden they have you know they feel something they

[10:16]go to the doctor they do an x-ray and half of their

[10:19]lungs is damaged and they did not even feel it it damages

[10:22]your body and your lungs without even you knowing it that's why

[10:26]the coronavirus is dangerous some people they say well you know it's

[10:30]like the flu two percent people yes not too many people die

[10:33]but those that died many times they had absolutely no warning before

[10:38]it all the sudden they fall they go to the hospital and

[10:41]it's too late so this is how the shaytan is when he

[10:43]strikes us many times you don't even know it what's the weapon

[10:48]of the shaytan he only has one weapon his weapon is what

[10:55]whispering he whispers thoughts in your head he comes and he gives

[10:59]you bad ideas evil ideas your thinking right and then all of

[11:01]a sudden in the middle of your thoughts he inserts he inserts

[11:06]a whisper and you think it's your own thought because he inserted

[11:10]it in the middle of your thoughts and you think this is

[11:15]you this is your idea while in fact it was an insinuation

[11:17]of the shaitaan this is what makes him so dangerous he hijacks

[11:22]your thought process and that's why brothers and sisters don't always think

[11:26]that if you had a thought in your brain this is your

[11:29]thought so people think everything that they hear in their brain this

[11:33]is them speaking no sometimes it could be satanic thoughts yes sometimes

[11:37]it could be angelic thoughts sometimes angels sometimes allah puts a thought

[11:42]in your brain right and sometimes the shaitaan puts a thought in

[11:45]your brain and you don't even know it's him the holy prophet

[11:49]has been narrated saying about the shaytan he gives a beautiful analogy

[12:01]shukran thank you he gives a beautiful analogy he says that the

[12:04]shaytan flows in your veins listen carefully to the words that he

[12:07]uses the prophet is very accurate in his description he says the

[12:14]shaitaan he flows in your veins in the same way that your

[12:18]blood flows in your veins what does this mean let me ask

[12:24]you a question right now you're all sitting and listening to this

[12:26]lecture right is your blood flowing in your veins is your heart

[12:32]pumping or no definitely right if not you would die so as

[12:36]i speak all of us here blood is flowing through our veins

[12:39]can you feel it or not can anyone say oh i could

[12:43]feel an itch in my hand you know i could feel something

[12:47]in my feet in my back it's my blood flowing in my

[12:48]veins no we would tell that person you need to seek you

[12:51]know help from a psychologist right you can't feel your blood flowing

[12:57]the prophet says this is exactly how the shaitan is he says

[13:05]he flows inside you meaning he's all over the place without even

[13:10]you noticing it he's in stealth mode he's there he's whispering he's

[13:15]planning he's plotting he's implanting those thoughts and you don't even know

[13:20]it you think you're all by yourself this is what makes him

[13:22]so dangerous brothers and sisters so once again we said what we

[13:25]said his quantity his army number two his close proximity to us

[13:28]and his unfettered access to us number three we said he's invisible

[13:33]we can't see him right right if anyone can see the shaytan

[13:38]please don't contact me contact your local you know psychiatrist i hope

[13:44]you can't see him and number four we said his weapon is

[13:48]undetectable many times he whispers and he plans and you don't even

[13:54]know it so for these reasons the shaytan is a dangerous enemy

[13:57]now having said all of this don't lose hope don't think that

[14:01]you're going to definitely fail against the shaitaan no because the shaitaan

[14:05]all he can do is what is whisper he can suggest he

[14:09]can tell you go and turn on the tv go on your

[14:13]social media and then that will lead to something else go on

[14:15]the internet you know go to this place call this friend he

[14:19]can just suggest he can just put those insinuations in your mind

[14:23]but can he force you can you wake up one day and

[14:28]you say oh my hand this is in the movies right the

[14:30]shaitan can't force you at the end of the day if you

[14:33]and i sin this is based on our own what choice and

[14:38]free will no one can say that the shaytan made me do

[14:43]this the shaytaan just sensed it allah gave you intellect why did

[14:46]you listen to him if i tell you right now to commit

[14:50]a crime right and then you commit it can you justify it

[14:52]by saying well they say it told me now maybe i could

[14:54]i will also be held accountable but that will not exonerate you

[14:59]will it of course not it won't exonerate you you can't say

[15:02]well he told me what do you mean you're an adult and

[15:05]you have intellect and use your brain just because someone tells you

[15:08]to do something wrong does it make you innocent so the shaytan

[15:13]can only what can only tell you he cannot force you he

[15:20]cannot he does not have authority over us and allah says this

[15:23]in the holy quran he is he tells shaytan i have given

[15:29]you these powers but no that you will not be given authority

[15:32]over the human being he still will have intellect and he will

[15:36]have free will so he can say no to whatever you tell

[15:40]him so if someone follows you then that was based on his

[15:49]own desire and his own free will and you know the shaytan

[15:52]is so sly and cunning and he's so deceitful and he is

[15:57]you know filled with betrayal you know what he does on the

[16:00]day of judgment when allah resurrects me and he shows me my

[16:04]crimes my sins anything bad that i did so allah asked me

[16:08]you know it's like in the court of law where you you

[16:11]ask the uh the defendant you ask him well what do you

[16:14]have to say right he can bring a lawyer on the day

[16:15]of judgment allah will also give you a chance to speak and

[16:19]to justify but obviously we can't lie to god so allah tell

[16:23]you why did you do this why did you steal why did

[16:26]you hurt other people's feelings why did you backbite why did you

[16:30]drink alcohol why why why write you know what we'll do we

[16:35]human beings we love finding scapegoats right we don't want to admit

[16:39]it was my fault so we will look for someone else to

[16:43]blame for our sins the quran says this who will we look

[16:46]for we will look for the shaitaan we will tell him ya

[16:48]allah it was him the shaytaan he's the one that made me

[16:52]do it allah won't even answer here he will he will let

[16:56]the shaytan reply to you allah says this in the holy quran

[17:00]so it's a conversation between the human being and the shaytan the

[17:03]human being blames iblis it's all your fault it was him because

[17:05]he needs a scapegoat and he wants to justify his action but

[17:09]then the shaytan replies the shaytan is smarter than you and i

[17:13]brothers and sisters he's been around for millions of years he's seen

[17:16]every prophet he's read every verse of the quran every hadith since

[17:20]the time of prophet adam and musa and he knows everything right

[17:24]that's how he's able to miss god because he's a knowledgeable person

[17:28]but he has no fear of allah he doesn't have any you

[17:33]know he doesn't fear allah azzawajal nor does he have taqwa he

[17:37]doesn't have faith you know what the shaitan will say allah says

[17:41]in the quran the quran says the shaytan said on the day

[17:48]of judgment when you receive your sentencing your verdict that you have

[17:52]done this and this and the what will the shaytan say to

[17:56]reply he will tell me no no no don't use the shaitan

[18:04]excuse with allah because all i did was what i whispered i

[18:09]asked you to do this i invited you i suggested that you

[18:14]should do this i did not force you in fact god never

[18:17]gave me power over you allah hasn't given me authority over any

[18:22]human being you guys are free human beings and you could do

[18:25]what you want so don't blame me in the shaytan all i

[18:27]did is i asked you why did you follow why did you

[18:30]listen to me how many warnings did allah give you in the

[18:32]quran how many warnings did you hear do not listen to those

[18:36]whispers in your mind do this and do that and then the

[18:41]shaitan says so don't blame me so apparently people are blaming the

[18:44]shaytan on the day of judgment right they want him to be

[18:49]the scapegoat so allah says the shaytan tells the human being do

[18:52]not blame me blame yourselves it's your fault you see this is

[18:57]what the shaytan does he convinces you to disobey god but then

[19:02]he doesn't stand up for you he doesn't defend you he disavows

[19:05]you just like that i don't know you who's this guy that's

[19:07]why we should never trust those whispers in our mind so all

[19:12]these points brothers and sisters they indicate that the shaytan is a

[19:18]is a very serious enemy and the imams of bates and all

[19:22]the prophets of god they took him very seriously and i'll mention

[19:26]this insha allah and the next night you know how the prophets

[19:29]used to protect themselves from the shaitaan verses in the holy quran

[19:33]but tonight insha allah in the remaining minutes i have i want

[19:37]to mention two general ways tactics and methods that the shaitaan uses

[19:42]to misguide human beings and then tomorrow i'll give you more specific

[19:45]examples of how he misguides us but today i'll give you two

[19:51]examples their general methods that are mentioned in the holy quran the

[20:02]first method general method that he uses to misguide us is what

[20:08]they called is that the shaytan comes to you and he excites

[20:20]false hopes and aspirations within us you see the shaytan is clever

[20:24]clever he's cunning he doesn't tell you don't pray because if he

[20:29]says don't pray he's exposing himself imagine there's something telling you don't

[20:32]pray your prayer is bad you're going to know this is the

[20:36]shaytan right you're going to say oh no that's a bad thought

[20:37]the shaytan disguises himself what does he do the shaytaan he comes

[20:44]and tells you you know i read the hadith where i think

[20:46]the prophet or imam ali says that the worst thing for the

[20:50]shaitaan is when he sees you praying he hates it when people

[20:54]pray because he considers himself losing it's all a battle against you

[20:57]the human race so when you're praying you're standing praying before allah

[21:01]he considers himself he's losing he's not able to misguide you so

[21:04]he doesn't tell you don't pray what does he tell you he

[21:06]tells you don't pray now pray next week pray next month next

[21:13]year when i'm 30 when i'm 40 and this is probably the

[21:16]most common i think he you know this is a very uh

[21:19]popular method for him in dearborn because i hear this all the

[21:24]time shallow and i go to hajj when i go to hajj

[21:26]allah i'll do everything this is the exact whisper of the shaytan

[21:32]brothers and sisters allah says this in the holy quran he doesn't

[21:35]tell you don't wear hijab he doesn't tell you don't pray don't

[21:38]go don't do this don't do that right he just says later

[21:42]now what's the problem with this how does he benefit from this

[21:47]two ways number one later usually you never do that later thing

[21:53]right sometimes i have something you know that's annoying like i have

[21:55]to change my car's oil oil change i keep on saying tomorrow

[21:59]and tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow eventually it'll take a month tomorrow

[22:01]as they say never comes so anytime you tell yourself tomorrow you

[22:06]have to do something tomorrow that means you don't want to do

[22:09]it you're just pushing it back tomorrow could end up 10 years

[22:14]sometimes i know a brother who i used to tell him why

[22:15]don't you go to hajj and he was you know mashallah wealthy

[22:18]capable and he i remember for probably like 10 years every time

[22:23]i see him he tells me this inshallah next year not this

[22:26]year next year that excuse when you use it once you'll use

[22:30]it 50 times 20 times so one way that he uses is

[22:35]he just wants you to delay his buying time and number two

[22:37]the reason why he wants us to delay is because what because

[22:43]many times he hopes that we die before that later comes you

[22:47]know how many people they said that i'll go to hajj when

[22:50]i'm 50 and they never made it up to 50.

[22:52]and i spoke about this the last couple of nights brothers and

[22:55]sisters we don't know when we're going to die right we don't

[22:57]have a guarantee that we will live up to 50 or 60

[23:00]or 70 or whatever we have no absolutely no guarantee the shaytan

[23:03]tells you when you're 60 go to hajj start wearing the hijab

[23:07]praying do this do that become a virtuous person he tells you

[23:10]this portion but he leaves out the important other disclaimer what is

[23:14]it that look there's no guarantee that you're going to live up

[23:17]to 60 or 70.

[23:19]does he tell you this part he doesn't he intentionally leaves you

[23:21]leaves it out so that he misguides you if he was really

[23:24]an honest person he would he would tell you look wait until

[23:27]70 but there's no guarantee you're going to live up to 70.

[23:30]now it would be a very lousy tactic right so to make

[23:33]his tactic even more effective he leaves out the second portion the

[23:37]fact that you could die before you're 50 and 60.

[23:40]and this is a tactic that the shaytan uses with everybody brothers

[23:46]and sisters every single human being such that allah mentions this in

[23:49]the holy quran when he warns us of the shaytan he says

[23:52]be very careful of this specific method allah says him he gives

[23:59]them promises he gives them hope that you're going to live a

[24:03]long life and you know when you start believing these whispers these

[24:07]lies of the shaitaan that i have a long life ahead of

[24:11]me when you start relying on them insha'allah we all live a

[24:14]long life but don't rely on that you know don't put all

[24:16]your hope in that you're going to live 90 years no say

[24:19]allah whenever you take your amman i'm ready you know what happens

[24:23]what we do when we start believing that we have a long

[24:27]life ahead of us we're still young we start delaying and procrastinating

[24:30]and you know people usually students they do this in school when

[24:34]your teacher tells you you have an assignment assignments due in two

[24:38]weeks when do you usually do it tonight i don't think so

[24:41]in two days three days you do it in 13 days and

[24:43]23 hours from now right you're rushing right before class begins well

[24:47]you had two weeks to do it well when you're told you

[24:50]have time you like to relax now and do the work later

[24:54]so the shaytan he doesn't tell you don't pray he just tells

[24:56]you you have time there's no rush so you tell yourself oh

[24:59]i have time so what's the rush shall i'll make up my

[25:02]salah later i'll go to hajj later i'll give my home slater

[25:07]al this is the natural this is the natural reaction of the

[25:10]human being when he knows that he has a lot of time

[25:12]and like i said he's not honest with you the quran says

[25:17]he gives you false promises and then the quran says allah says

[25:24]all these promises of the shaitaan they are false they're lies it's

[25:28]all deceit do not believe him when he says you have time

[25:32]no tell him i don't have time that's why if you want

[25:36]to do something good never say later never say next year always

[25:39]say now because if you say next year that's you're falling to

[25:41]the plot of the shaitaan in fact one of the names of

[25:46]the shaitaan in the quran is what allah calls him the arabic

[25:51]language means what the deceiver allah calls shaytaa the deceiver because he

[25:56]always deceives he's not honest with you he tells you you have

[26:01]time but then you don't insha'allah in the following nights i'll speak

[26:04]about how we can combat the shaitan and what to do with

[26:07]every single one of these tactics so this is one of the

[26:13]most famous methods of the shaitaan is that what he tells you

[26:15]do it later don't do it now relax now inshallah later you

[26:17]have time when you don't have time so this is number one

[26:21]number two a second powerful general method that he uses to misguide

[26:27]us is what the quran calls attazine and tazir is basically when

[26:32]the shaytan beautifies sins in our eyes the holy quran says they

[26:41]did certain individuals they did sins they disobeyed allah but yet they

[26:47]thought they were doing something good you know there are times when

[26:51]you commit a sin and you know you're doing something wrong right

[26:53]but you say i don't care i want to have fun but

[26:57]you admit deep down that you're doing something wrong you know there's

[27:00]some people even when you tell them this is haram they tell

[27:02]you i don't care i know it's haram i just don't care

[27:06]i want to enjoy my life well at least they're being honest

[27:07]at least they're acknowledging that they're doing something wrong right there's a

[27:12]second level of transgression brothers and sisters is when you commit a

[27:17]sin and you think you're doing a virtue you think you're being

[27:20]righteous you think you think you're doing something good this is a

[27:25]complete another level that the shaytan is able to convince you not

[27:27]only to sin but he's also able to convince you that your

[27:32]sin is in fact a good thing and let me give you

[27:34]a couple examples in our own communities one example that we one

[27:39]problem that we have in our community and every community i travel

[27:42]to is drugs brothers and sisters usually this is a problem that

[27:49]we don't talk about we try to hide it but unfortunately it's

[27:53]become pervasive in every community in every block of our community there's

[27:58]a home where they have someone a young individual that's either addicted

[28:03]to drugs or they may have even lost someone i i saw

[28:07]a video a couple of months ago there you know a couple

[28:10]of young guys there outside uh some place here in dearborn and

[28:14]one of them he was lecturing all the other guys you know

[28:16]there was a apparently a young guy who overdosed and died and

[28:19]he was lecturing them until when our youth gonna do this to

[28:23]how many you know are gonna die until we wake up and

[28:25]we learn and whatnot so this is a big problem that we

[28:30]have the overdosing and you know we think sometimes i think i

[28:34]mentioned this earlier we think that only evil people criminals people that

[28:39]are you know raised in terrible homes they do drugs no brothers

[28:42]and sisters i know certain young people they have the best parents

[28:47]the best upbringing but they went into drugs why because because it

[28:50]may be like a friend peer pressure they had a bad friend
