[0:03]Alhamdulillah.
[0:22]must illuminate your malice.
[0:49]and your heart with a loud salawat for Muhammad and Al Muhammad.
[1:00]Respected brothers and sisters, we mentioned the last few nights the hadith
[1:12]of Imam where he says amongst the greatest blessings that Allah subhanana
[1:19]wa ta'ala can give anyone is health when you are free from
[1:22]sickness and illness and pain and injury.
[1:25]But at the same time that Im Ali says health is amongst
[1:32]the greatest blessings of Allah [snorts] sallallahu alaihi wasallam says that sickness
[1:38]is also a blessing for the believer.
[1:41]So how does that work?
[1:45]Health is a blessing and sickness is from the mercy of Allah
[1:48]subhana wa t'ala.
[1:50]Such that the prophet said if the believer knows how much good
[1:54]is in the sickness he's getting out of the sickness and the
[1:57]illness that he is in he will never ask allahel to cure
[2:02]him.
[2:03]So how does it work?
[2:03]This is the beautiful system of Allah subhanana wa ta'ala for the
[2:07]believer.
[2:08]No matter what he does to you, no matter what falls upon
[2:13]you, it's for your own good.
[2:15]Is narrated saying, he says, I'm so surprised at how spoiled the
[2:21]mu is.
[2:22]M like every single one here, anything that Allah writes for him
[2:28]or her, it's for his own good.
[2:30]If Allah writes health for you, it's for your good.
[2:32]If Allah writes sickness for you, it's also for your good.
[2:36]If Allah writes wealth for you, it's for your good.
[2:39]If he writes poverty for you, it's all for your good.
[2:41]And the point that the Imam is highlighting is a believer can
[2:48]never lose in this dunya.
[2:48]As long as he what?
[2:49]As long as he stays attached to Allah.
[2:52]No matter what happens to you, it's good.
[2:55]Whether it is wealth, whether it is poverty, whether it's health, whether
[2:59]it's sickness, but the condition is if you're a believer and you
[3:05]submit to Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala.
[3:06]So how is sickness a blessing?
[3:09]We mentioned number one sometimes we said last night that Allah subhanahu
[3:17]wa ta'ala afflicts us with a sickness with a disease in order
[3:21]for him in order for Allah subhana wa ta'ala to save us
[3:27]from the swamp of disobedience and sin that we are stuck in.
[3:31]You see, health is good, but sometimes health may lead to bad
[3:40]results.
[3:41]Why?
[3:39]If you're always healthy, you're always strong, eventually what tends to happen
[3:48]is you start to feel invincible, you start to feel immortal.
[3:53]I'm strong.
[3:53]I never need to go to the doctor.
[3:57]I don't need any pills.
[3:59]My physical capabilities are at their climax.
[4:01]Sometimes we get carried away, brothers and sisters, when our health is
[4:08]prolonged, meaning there's a long time without any sickness.
[4:14]And what happens there is we fall into the state of you
[4:18]go into cruise control.
[4:20]And once we fall into the state of this is when everything
[4:25]that is bad and evil starts happening.
[4:28]Why do we many times forget about Allah?
[4:31]Why do we h struggle in praying?
[4:33]Why do we forget about our why is it sometimes we become
[4:38]so arrogant?
[4:38]It's because we feel invincible.
[4:42]We don't feel that there is a need for Allah subhanahu wa
[4:45]ta'ala.
[4:46]If you are not sick and you're strong every single day, it's
[4:49]not that easy to remember I need Allah.
[4:51]When do you remember you need Allah?
[4:53]When you fall sick in your bed.
[4:54]This is when you remember that I'm a weak human being and
[4:58]I need Allah subhana wa tala.
[4:59]So Allah wants to take you out of that cruise control of
[5:03]sin and disobedience.
[5:03]He wants you to focus a little on Allah on your so
[5:08]he'll send the sickness.
[5:08]So that will be a reality check.
[5:10]Don't just look at the mirror and admire your looks and your
[5:16]muscles the whole day.
[5:17]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala will make you weak one day.
[5:22]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala even your looks, he will take them away
[5:25]from you certain days.
[5:27]For those individuals that are in the teenage years, one of the
[5:36]worst things is when you wake up and you see a pimple
[5:38]on your face, right?
[5:40]This pimple, brothers and sisters, is something that you should thank Allah
[5:45]for.
[5:46]Do you know why?
[5:48]Because it's a reality check from Allah.
[5:52]Allah wants to tell you, don't be too consumed by your body,
[5:58]by your smooth and beautiful face.
[6:01]Don't be too distracted by it such that you think this is
[6:08]going to continue forever.
[6:08]Allah will send that pimple to remind you this is the dunya.
[6:13]Focus on more important things not just your face.
[6:15]You spend an hour putting makeup.
[6:17]How much did you spend with Allah subhana wa ta'ala?
[6:20]You see how Allah subhana t sometimes he has to put these
[6:24]things that are bad.
[6:24]But is it because he hates me?
[6:27]No.
[6:26]Because he sees I'm obsessed with my looks.
[6:28]I'm obsessed with my muscles.
[6:32]I'm obsessed with my entertainment, my iPhone, my social media.
[6:35]So he has to sense some distractions, some disruptions and these disruptions
[6:42]are good.
[6:41]So they wake you up.
[6:44]The prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam is narrated saying in a hadith, if
[6:54]it wasn't for three things that happened to us human beings, we
[7:00]would never put our head down.
[7:02]We would always be so arrogant and proud.
[7:06]Number one, he says sickness.
[7:07]Sickness humbles you.
[7:10]It brings you down to your heels.
[7:14]Number two, poverty.
[7:14]Poverty also humbles us.
[7:15]And number three, elote, death.
[7:19]The fact that we know we're going to die one day.
[7:21]No matter how arrogant and mighty someone is, they know that they're
[7:26]going to be placed in that grave.
[7:28]Why does Allah subhana t do that?
[7:30]So that you become humble a bit and not so arrogant.
[7:32]The prophet says with all these three yet you find the human
[7:38]being is so arrogant yet the human being is so forgetful of
[7:42]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and feels so powerful and invincible sometimes there
[7:48]I I noticed this there are some people who don't want others
[7:53]to know when they're sick they feel like it's a stigma because
[7:57]what they have a reputation of being very strong of being very,
[8:02]you know, they might call it as being very tough or whatever,
[8:07]but it's most of the time arrogance.
[8:10]They don't want others to know that they got sick.
[8:12]Do you remember a couple of years ago when the president when
[8:17]I think of arrogance, I don't know why I just right away
[8:21]I see Trump's face.
[8:22]You might disagree with me.
[8:25]You might like his policies, but you know, just the way that
[8:27]he talks and nobody can fix the economy and nobody but me,
[8:32]nobody.
[8:31]It's I mean, it's just arrogance at its highest level.
[8:34]Remember when he got CO how he kept it a secret and
[8:40]he didn't want anyone to know why?
[8:41]Because CO humbles you, brothers and sisters.
[8:45]Disease and viruses humble us.
[8:48]And this man cannot tolerate being humbled.
[8:52]The worst thing for the arrogant person is when he feels weak.
[8:57]Allah subhana wa ta'ala sends sicknesses and viruses sometimes to remind you
[9:04]not to be so arrogant.
[9:05]So that was number one we spoke about last night.
[9:08]Number two, we said the second benefit of sickness and why Allah
[9:11]subhana wa ta'ala designed sickness to be a part of life.
[9:13]And remember I mentioned this clear distinction.
[9:16]There's two types of sicknesses.
[9:18]Some they are selfinflicted.
[9:21]It's when I eat bad food, when I don't eat healthy food,
[9:25]and I don't care about my health.
[9:26]That is not the sickness that Allah subhana t wanted for us.
[9:31]That's our fault.
[9:31]We're speaking about the second type of sickness when it's not your
[9:34]fault.
[9:35]When it happens without a known cause or it's not my fault,
[9:40]it's somebody else's fault that did something like that person that went
[9:44]and ate that bat uh soup or whatever it was, and then
[9:46]everyone else on Earth had to pay for one guy's bat soup
[9:50]meal.
[9:51]So is it my fault?
[9:52]No.
[9:52]But there was nothing I can do to prevent it.
[9:56]We're speaking about these times when it's not your fault.
[10:00]It just happens.
[9:59]This is from Allah subhana wa tala.
[10:02]He wanted this.
[10:04]The second benefit of being sick.
[10:06]Next time you're think about it in this way is that with
[10:10]sickness comes forgiveness.
[10:11]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala knows that we're always putting a heavy load
[10:18]on our back.
[10:17]Sin after sin after sin.
[10:22]How many times do we repent?
[10:24]Rarely.
[10:24]So allahel sends these sicknesses.
[10:27]So they shave off, they remove the load off our back.
[10:30]And that's why there are some people who die from a disease.
[10:36]You'll find that they're battling cancer or some other disease and they'll
[10:41]spend the last months, sometimes years of their lives in the hospital.
[10:45]These people, we feel very sorry for them.
[10:49]But these individuals, brothers and sisters, on the day of judgment will
[10:53]be the happiest people because when they die, they die 100% pure.
[10:57]What else is left for Allah subhana wa tala to hold them
[11:03]accountable for?
[11:01]They paid for everything through the sickness.
[11:05]So when they die, they literally die an angel.
[11:09]No sins at all.
[11:10]They're going to be happy on that day.
[11:12]They're not going to be so sad.
[11:15]Why?
[11:16]I was sick my whole life.
[11:17]I had this problem.
[11:17]I had this injury, I had this pain, they will realize that
[11:21]it was worth it.
[11:22]So this is number two.
[11:25]It doesn't stop there.
[11:25]Number three, and this is one of the most remarkable aspects of
[11:30]sickness is the sick days that Allah subhana wa ta'ala gives us.
[11:36]If any of you work here, you know that your employer is
[11:43]legally supposed to give you, they have to give you at least
[11:46]five, six days a year.
[11:50]It's very lousy.
[11:51]Just five.
[11:54]Meaning those five days, 40 hours, if you were sick, you are
[11:59]entitled to stay home, rest, and you will be paid.
[12:04]But it's capped at what?
[12:04]I mean the minimum five days.
[12:08]You might be lucky.
[12:08]You work at a better company.
[12:09]They'll give you 10 sick days, sick days, paid sick days a
[12:15]year.
[12:16]Or even better, maybe 20.
[12:16]Have you heard of any company that gives you more than 20
[12:19]sick days a year?
[12:21]Paid sick days.
[12:23]25.
[12:22]What's beautiful about the system of Allah subhana wa ta'ala is that
[12:30]he himself has devised a sick day program.
[12:31]What do I mean?
[12:33]You see, when you're sick, you need to rest.
[12:38]You can't focus on your job.
[12:39]So, you're home resting, recovering, and you're getting paid.
[12:45]So, you don't have to worry about the bills.
[12:46]But after 5 days, six days, seven days, when you run out
[12:53]of your sick days, now your stress intensifies.
[12:57]Why?
[12:58]If you're not getting better, not only do you have to put
[13:03]up with the sickness now, you're so consumed.
[13:06]How am I going to provide for my family?
[13:09]How am I going to pay my mortgage?
[13:13]Especially if you have a a a terminal disease, your job, your
[13:16]employer isn't going to care.
[13:18]Even if they're merciful and nice, they're like, you know what?
[13:21]We can't just pay you for free 5 days, 10 days, 20
[13:24]days, but sorry, we have to let you go.
[13:26]So now you have to put up with the fatigue, with the
[13:28]pain, with the struggle of the sickness.
[13:29]In addition, how am I going to pay my bills?
[13:34]That just destroys you mentally.
[13:34]Allahawel has a very similar system, but way more generous.
[13:40]When we're sick, brothers and sisters, sometimes the sickness prevents us from
[13:44]some good deeds.
[13:47]Some good deeds that we're accustomed in doing.
[13:50]I never miss it.
[13:53]But one I can't go because I'm sick.
[13:56]The lectures I come every night.
[13:58]One night I can't come because I'm sick.
[14:01]I recite dua dua every Thursday night.
[14:04]I do volunteer work.
[14:07]Any good deed.
[14:07]Sometimes you'll not be able to do that good deed because of
[14:11]a sickness.
[14:11]You feel terrible.
[14:13]You're sitting in bed.
[14:14]You wish you were there helping, reciting dua, listening to the lecture,
[14:20]whatever good deed that you were doing.
[14:24]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala does not let that tawab that you used
[14:26]to do go in vain.
[14:29]He counts it for you while you are resting in your bed.
[14:31]One day it's narrated the book of alki.
[14:34]The prophet was sitting with his companions.
[14:37]All of a sudden they saw Allah smile.
[14:40]The prophet smiled.
[14:42]His companions asked him what happened yasoolah.
[14:45]They knew was coming all the time.
[14:48]So something good happened.
[14:49]The prophet said, "Just now I was informed of this.
[14:54]Two angels from Allahawel, they came down by the order of Allah.
[14:59]Allah ordered them to go and watch and observe a particular person,
[15:05]what good deeds he's doing and record it." Now you might ask,
[15:11]what's the purpose?
[15:11]Don't we all have two angels that write our good deeds and
[15:15]bad deeds?
[15:14]So why did Allah subhana send these two specific angels?
[15:18]Now the hadith does not indicate but what we understand from this
[15:22]hadith is Allah subhana t has different layers different groups.
[15:25]So there's the two angels that are entrusted for every single individual.
[15:29]You have two private angels just for you.
[15:33]One for your good deeds one for your bad deeds.
[15:36]In addition from time to time Allah sends other angels maybe higher
[15:39]level.
[15:40]They come and they make sure maybe that these angels are what?
[15:43]Doing what they're supposed to do.
[15:44]They're not missing anything.
[15:48]So they come and they record what you're doing.
[15:50]So the prophet says those two angels, Allah sent them to check
[15:56]on someone.
[15:55]They went to his prayer rug.
[15:58]He has a specific place where he prays every day.
[16:01]And by the way, this is something very good.
[16:05]Make it a habit that when you pray, pray on a specific
[16:11]area in your house and then from time to time change that
[16:17]area every month in one corner in one area.
[16:21]Why?
[16:20]Because the traditions tell us on the day of judgment that piece
[16:26]of earth the ground that you used to pray on will testify
[16:29]for you in front of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
[16:33]He used to pray on me in this area.
[16:37]So scatter your salah so that you have all these different positions
[16:40]and areas that are testifying for you on the day of judgment.
[16:43]So anyway, they tell Allah subhana wa ta'ala they Allah sends them
[16:49]they go to the place that's designated for the salah of that
[16:53]person for the dua wherever he used to do and they find
[16:58]that he's missing.
[16:58]He's not there.
[17:01]They look, they search, they can't find him until they go in
[17:06]his bedroom.
[17:07]They see that person is lying down on the bed sick and
[17:14]they can't do anything.
[17:15]So they go back to Allah and they tell Allahawel these two
[17:19]angels.
[17:20]Ya Allah we went and we just like all the time just
[17:26]like the habit that this person has.
[17:28]We thought he would be on his prayer rug.
[17:29]We thought he would be in the masjid.
[17:33]We thought she would be sitting in this specific seat in the
[17:36]masjid.
[17:36]You know there are even some people when they go to the
[17:38]mosque they sit in the same place every day.
[17:40]Some days you see they're not there.
[17:41]You're like is everything okay?
[17:44]I hope they're fine, you know, because they rarely miss.
[17:48]So they notice that that place is empty.
[17:52]They tell Allahel they weren't there doing their but we found them
[17:56]that they're sick.
[17:58]You had made them sick, ya Allah.
[17:59]You had tied them up in sickness.
[18:02]So what do we do here?
[18:02]Allah says they were not doing their daily because of the sickness
[18:11]that I brought down upon them.
[18:12]They say yes.
[18:15]Allahel says whatever they used to do on a normal day in
[18:18]which they were healthy write it for them.
[18:20]No matter how long their sickness takes one day, two days, 5
[18:27]days, 6 months, five years, let it be a terminal disease.
[18:30]I started a good habit today.
[18:34]I said, alhamdulillah, this Ramadan I'm going to start attending salah J.
[18:38]I attend two or three times, then I fall sick and I
[18:40]can never know.
[18:42]for the rest of my life, Allah will write meat because the
[18:44]reason I'm not going is because of the sickness.
[18:47]If it wasn't for the sickness, I would have went.
[18:50]How beautiful is that, brothers and sisters?
[18:51]And it's completely unlimited.
[18:54]One day visited Salman Farham.
[19:07]Imm Hussein Ali narrates this hadith.
[19:11]Imam Ali visits Salman al Fari because he heard Salman was sick
[19:18]and Salman was absent.
[19:19]So he went to visit Salman the great companion of Allah.
[19:25]He sat down next to Salman and he asked him a question.
[19:30]He told him that was the title of Salman.
[19:36]How do you feel in this sickness?
[19:39]Salman was a very wise and pious man, very righteous man.
[19:45]So he told Im Ali, alhamdulillah, I praise Allah, Allah a lot.
[19:59]Not just a little, you know, he's just saying that because it's
[20:03]what he's supposed to say.
[20:04]I praise Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala a lot.
[20:07]Salman is wise.
[20:10]He knows that the sickness is rahma from Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[20:15]to him.
[20:16]But then he tells im Ali, but I do complain from one
[20:23]thing, not from the sickness.
[20:27]I complain of boredom.
[20:30]I miss you.
[20:32]I'm bored.
[20:32]When you're sick, you just have to lay in bed the whole
[20:36]day.
[20:36]It's sometimes it's boring, especially if you're someone that's active.
[20:40]Salman, he's always with Im Ali Alisam, praying behind him, spending time
[20:44]with him.
[20:45]He's out.
[20:44]So, he's has to spend the whole day just lying in bed.
[20:50]He tells Ali, "That's my only issue is that I am bored."
[20:55]Im Ali gives him a remarkable reply.
[21:00]He tells him, "Yeah, Salman, do not be so bored." And then
[21:04]he explains to him what happens to the believer when they are
[21:10]sick, bored in their bed, waiting for the shifah from Allah subhana
[21:14]wa tala recovery to come down.
[21:15]Listen to the hadith of Im Ali.
[21:20]The IM told him, "Any one of my the SH of Ali.
[21:32]It is the greatest honor, brothers and sisters, to be a Shia
[21:38]of Im Ali.
[21:40]And being a Shia of Im Ali is decided through your actions,
[21:45]not just through your words, not just because I was born into
[21:48]this family, then you're automatically a Shia.
[21:52]You're automatically a Muslim if you're born to a Muslim, to Muslim
[21:58]parents.
[21:57]But you do not inherit the ta of your parents.
[22:01]Listen carefully brothers and sisters.
[22:02]My parents may be the best sh I will not inherit any
[22:08]of that automatically.
[22:09]To be a Ali is a position that every person has to
[22:16]earn.
[22:16]Follower.
[22:17]How do you be a Ali?
[22:18]You act like I Ali.
[22:21]You speak like I im Ali.
[22:23]You follow the teachings of Imam Ali.
[22:27]Obviously you cannot be like IM Ali but at least try try.
[22:30]The imam himself on the member one day he said look oh
[22:36]people you cannot be ali you can't ali is something else but
[22:38]at least try don't give up try to be honest try to
[22:44]be faithful to Allahh try to pray your salah on time try
[22:47]to stay away from haram you may slip a few times you
[22:51]may not be successful all the time but at least make it
[22:55]a goal the problem is many of us it's not even on
[22:56]our to-do list it's not even on our bucket list it's not
[23:00]something that We even strive to become like Imm Ali Alisam.
[23:04]I want to become like this athlete.
[23:07]I want to become like this singer.
[23:08]I want to become like this.
[23:08]Do you want to become like Imm Ali?
[23:10]You're not going to become like Ali.
[23:11]But do you want to?
[23:14]Is that even something that you wish?
[23:17]When you put it in your head and you strive and you
[23:19]work for it, at least you'll become 1% of IM Ali.
[23:23]And that's amazing.
[23:22]If I can be 1% of Ali.
[23:26]So the Imam said says he tells Salman any one of our
[23:33]Shia who faces an injury pain any type of suffering sickness that
[23:39]will be purification from their sins as we spoke about.
[23:44]So the Imam is telling Salman I know you might be bored
[23:49]but it's worth it.
[23:52]You're being purified.
[23:51]So Salman he asks a question.
[23:53]He says, "Is that the only benefit?
[23:57]We will have our sins cleansed." Salman rarely used to sin.
[24:04]He was very close to the level of being almost infallible.
[24:08]So, Salman is sitting there and you know what?
[24:10]I don't really sin that much.
[24:12]Probably couple of times a year.
[24:16]So, am I really benefiting from that?
[24:18]For sinful people, they should wish to always be sick because it's
[24:22]works for their benefit.
[24:22]But if I am not a sinful person and that's very very
[24:26]rare.
[24:27]We all are sinful individuals.
[24:28]Okay, I want more than just my sins being washed away.
[24:34]Imam replies to him.
[24:35]He tells him, "Look at how the system of Allah works.
[24:45]When we become sick or we suffer any type of injury, automatically
[24:51]the purification you're given, every minute of pain, of struggle, Allah will
[24:58]remove sins slowly off your back." However, do you get rewarded in
[25:05]addition to sins being forgiven?
[25:06]Does your status go higher in the eyes of Allah?
[25:10]Im Ali says that does not come for free.
[25:13]It's not automatic.
[25:12]You just need to do one thing.
[25:15]What is it?
[25:16]Be patient.
[25:18]If you are patient, Allah not only forgives your sins, but in
[25:22]addition, you're having two of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala systems working in
[25:27]your favor.
[25:29]At the same time that your sins are being forgiven, Allah is
[25:32]writing reward for you.
[25:36]Constant reward and elevating.
[25:37]You're just going up up up higher in the ranks of the
[25:43]believers just because you are what?
[25:44]You are patient.
[25:45]So he tells this to Salman.
[25:49]Patience brothers and sisters when we are sick is not as hard
[25:57]as you think.
[25:57]There's a hadith from where he explains what it means to be
[26:04]patient.
[26:04]He says the one that becomes sick.
[26:13]Whoever becomes sick and they are patient and they accept what's happening
[26:22]to them.
[26:22]Every night, listen carefully.
[26:27]Every night of sickness, Allah gives you how much?
[26:33]We spend it 100.
[26:35]We spent seven, eight, nine hours.
[26:37]We're told it's greater than how many nights?
[26:40]How many?
[26:42]Nobody knows?
[26:45]1,000 months.
[26:47]So 30,000 nights.
[26:50]So 30,000 nights is how many days or how many years?
[26:55]Almost 80, right?
[26:57]the greatest night out of the year.
[27:03]You have to spend it in right it's not it's easy but
[27:04]I mean you have to do something the [snorts] it's gonna take
[27:10]about an hour two hours the three suras of the Quran do
[27:16]somear but it's worth it you're getting 80 years of im says
[27:20]one night that you're sick but you're patient and I'll explain one
[27:24]second but you're patient Allah gives you the reward of 60 years,
[27:33]60 years.
[27:34]So when you're sitting in bed, you're bored, you may be suffering,
[27:40]you have a cold, a fever, pain, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala on
[27:43]that night that you sleep because you can barely even get asleep
[27:47]when you're sick.
[27:49]Allah will give you 60 years of as long as you're patient.
[27:51]So the Imam was asked, "What do you mean?
[27:53]HOW DO I ACCEPT?
[27:55]HOW DO I BECOME a patient individual?" The imam [snorts] in this
[27:59]hadith and another one he explains he says do not complain to
[28:02]Allah.
[28:03]Do not complain to anyone.
[28:05]When people come and visit you or when you see people after
[28:10]that don't start complaining the whole time.
[28:12]Oh man, you don't know what happened to me that night.
[28:14]I couldn't sleep.
[28:16]It was such a terrible night and I saw nightmares and I
[28:19]was sweating and this and that.
[28:23]First of all, who cares?
[28:23]Second of all, most people don't really care, right?
[28:27]They may act polite.
[28:27]Second of all, don't do that because once you complain to the
[28:30]created, you lose the from the creator.
[28:36]You are allowed to complain, brothers and sisters.
[28:38]But complain to Allah only.
[28:40]Tell him, "Ya Allah, help me.
[28:44]Ya Allah, I need strength from you.
[28:47]Ya Allah, bring down your cure upon me." Do not object.
[28:49]Some people will object.
[28:52]Why, ya Allah, I spoke about this.
[28:53]Why is this happening?
[28:54]Why am I not getting cured?
[28:55]Allah subhana t tell tells you because I love you.
[28:58]YOU SIN WAY TOO MUCH.
[29:00]I want to elevate your status.
[29:01]You think with your lousy salah you're going to get to paradise.
[29:03]You know salah that from A to Z it's all incorrect and
[29:09]fast and there's absolutely no concentration.
[29:11]Allah wants to take me to paradise to a higher level.
[29:14]He says there's that's the only way.
[29:17]There's nothing I can do.
[29:20]Everything all the other opportunities you turn down.
[29:21]You don't come.
[29:24]You don't even show up to any programs to the masjid Ramadan.
[29:28]You're busy in sahas and doing this and that.
[29:32]So Allah says, you know what?
[29:32]I'm going to force you to go to paradise by what?
[29:37]By sending sickness.
[29:37]That's because he loves me.
[29:40]So Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala in the hadith, he says, do not
[29:43]complain to other human beings and do not object to Allah.
[29:49]You can tell other human beings that you were sick.
[29:50]You're just informing them.
[29:54]But do not complain.
[29:54]The Imam says, "If you can withhold the venting," and I know
[30:01]this is very hard for some people.
[30:03]They love venting.
[30:02]Venting, you know, it's it's a way to relax.
[30:06]It's a way to let out all that stress and grief.
[30:10]You can vent, but vent to Allahel.
[30:11]This is what the imams would do.
[30:14]The prophets anytime they would have problems, anytime they would have any
[30:18]type of suffering or difficulty in life, they would vent to Allah.
[30:23]But don't object to Allah.
[30:24]Tell them, "Ya Allah, ya, ya Allah, you are the one that
[30:26]can do miracles.
[30:28]You can change everything.
[30:30]Give me patience." All you need is patience, brothers and sisters.
[30:34]If Allah gives you patience, you can withstand the greatest of the
[30:39]sicknesses and diseases.
[30:39]That's all you need.
[30:41]You know, MS, it's narrated that he used to read a dua,
[30:44]a beautiful dua.
[30:45]He used to say, "Ya Allah, do not make me too sick
[30:51]such that I collapse, nor keep me healthy all the time." He
[30:59]doesn't want pure health all the time, nor sick all the time.
[31:05]He asks Allah, give me something right in the middle.
[31:08]Some days I'm sick, so I start appreciating your favors.
[31:15]And some days I am healthy.
[31:19]So on those healthy days, I can use those healthy days to
[31:27]worship Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to really value what I lost when
[31:30]I was sick.
[31:32]So we have to experience both.
[31:34]Brothers and sisters, you will never appreciate your health unless you become
[31:38]sick.
[31:39]You will never appreciate all the beautiful organs that Allahawel has given
[31:44]you until one of them starts malfunctioning.
[31:47]Inshallah allahel doesn't need to take you to that level so that
[31:54]you start to appreciate him.
[31:54]But if if if it had to be and that was the
[32:00]will of Allah know that it's for your own good.
[32:01]So he asked Allah subhana wa ta'ala the best dua is ya
[32:06]Allah mixed sickness with health.
[32:07]Some days I'm sick, some days I am healthy.
[32:12]This is the best for your spiritual well-being.
[32:16]So anyway, I im Ali going back to that story tell Salman
[32:23]if you're patient and you complain only to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala,
[32:28]not only will Allahawel forgive your sins, not only will Allah write
[32:36]for you whatever good deeds that you were naturally doing but you
[32:40]cannot do because of your sickness, Allah will even write you more
[32:44]good deeds that you never even did.
[32:47]And this is a notion that you will never find but with
[32:51]Allah.
[32:52]Brothers and sisters, imagine if your employer tells you, "If you come
[32:57]to work eight hours, I'll pay you $100.
[33:01]But if you're sick in your bed, I'll pay you $300." Which
[33:07]one would you choose?
[33:10]Well, you might say, "Which sickness?" Right?
[33:12]Which sickness?
[33:14]And how many days?
[33:14]Well, maybe a week of sickness.
[33:16]That's worth it.
[33:19]I'm not doing anything.
[33:19]I'm just sleeping on my bed.
[33:22]And I'm getting paid.
[33:24]I'm not just getting paid.
[33:25]I'm getting paid double, triple what I would get paid if I
[33:31]would go to work.
[33:30]This is what happens to a believer when they get sick.
[33:35]Allah says, "Look, on a normal day, you spent that night praying,
[33:40]reading Quran.
[33:42]Tonight you're sick.
[33:43]Not only will I forgive your sins, I'll give you the ofat.
[33:49]I'll give you even more and you didn't pray.
[33:52]Is it better to be sick, brothers and sisters, or healthy all
[33:57]the time?
[33:57]Be healthy all the time, you're just preventing denying yourself from all
[34:00]that beautiful free thaw.
[34:03]But to be sick all the time is also tough.
[34:05]So that's why the dua of MS says, "Ya Allah, let me
[34:10]be sick some days and let me be healthy some other days."
[34:14]And this is exactly what Allah does to most people, right?
[34:17]There's nobody, very rare, people are sick their whole life.
[34:22]And I don't think there's anybody that's healthy their entire life.
[34:26]And that's why everything, brothers and sisters, that comes from Allah subhanahu
[34:30]wa ta'ala, appreciate it.
[34:33]Thank Allah for it because Allah is only doing it for my
[34:36]own good.
[34:38]I may not understand until the day of judgment.
[34:41]There's a hadith that I read.
[34:42]It's so beautiful.
[34:43]You know, in the month of Ramadan, I mentioned this and we
[34:46]hear this every year.
[34:49]What's beautiful about Ramadan and what makes it unique and remarkable is
[34:52]that when you breathe, Allah writes for you.
[34:54]Subhan Allah.
[34:55]And when you sleep, Allah counts that as there's a from where
[35:03]he tells im Ali, he tells him, "Yeah, Ali, the one who
[35:10]is sick, injured, in pain, what do they do sometimes?
[35:14]They moan.
[35:15]They moan.
[35:18]They'll be saying, "Ouch." Making some noises because of the pain.
[35:22]The prophet tells im Ali a sick individual that moans Allah writes
[35:35]that as long as you do not complain to people only to
[35:43]Allah hadith a beautiful hadith from im he says when those two
[35:49]angels come to see what you're doing after they're informed by Allah
[35:53]subhana wa ta'ala.
[35:55]Of course, Allah knows that this person is sick and he's not
[35:59]doing their Allahawel now he turns to these two angels.
[36:02]The one on your right that writes your good deeds.
[36:03]The one on your left that writes your sins.
[36:06]He looks at the one on the left and he gives that
[36:10]angel on the left who I sure all despise because he's constantly
[36:13]writing our bad deeds.
[36:17]He tells that angel, "As long as Abidi, the servant of mine
[36:22]is sick, you have no right, r i g ht, to write
[36:26]w r i t e any sin against this individual, as long
[36:32]as he is sick, because I made him sick, do not write
[36:36]any sins." Now, does that mean you can go on a sinning
[36:37]spree if you're sick?
[36:40]No.
[36:41]Don't abuse Allah's mercy because Allah is smarter than you.
[36:44]Allahel wants you to feel better emotionally.
[36:47]That look, I'll be more forgiving.
[36:50]I'll be more lenient because you're sick.
[36:53]That doesn't mean take that as an excuse to commit every haram
[36:56]in the book.
[36:58]And then he orders the one on the right.
[37:01]He says, "You yell get to work.
[37:02]The other guy can rest.
[37:03]Get to work and start writing worship for this man." So the
[37:07]hadith says that angel looks at you and you're just in your
[37:09]bed not doing anything and you're just making all these noises and
[37:13]you're moaning.
[37:12]Allah what do I write?
[37:15]All he's doing is making these annoying noises because of the pain.
[37:18]What do you want me to write?
[37:19]Allahawel tells him those annoying voices to you they are to me
[37:24]write.
[37:27]And then the prophet says sometimes the pain is so severe you
[37:34]start screaming.
[37:33]That is also a couple of months ago, some of you heard
[37:37]about the story.
[37:39]One of the brothers of our community, he was studying in another
[37:42]state.
[37:43]A very a very tragic incident happened where he was injured his
[37:48]leg and they had to amputate his leg.
[37:52]A young man studying in another state, they had to amputate his
[38:00]feet, his leg, and this is above the knee.
[38:01]and he spent I think two or three months in the hospital.
[38:09][snorts] I spoke to one of the relatives of this young man
[38:11]19 I think or 20 years old very promising future in front
[38:18]of him.
[38:20]He lost his leg.
[38:21]I spoke to one of his relatives after he went and visited
[38:25]him from here from Michigan in the hospital.
[38:28]I said how is he doing?
[38:29]Is he is he okay?
[38:31]Okay.
[38:31]And it was probably like a couple of weeks after the amputation.
[38:35]They said, "Say it.
[38:36]It's the worst place to be, just to be by that person.
[38:41]It's so heartbreaking." I said, "Why?" They said, "Because he is shouting
[38:45]the whole time." Said, "Why?" He said, "Because of the pain." I
[38:50]said, "There's no painkillers." They said, "There are painkillers, but even painkillers
[38:53]have a limit.
[38:56]You can't just keep on giving those high doses.
[38:57]you could you're only allowed to have you know this much within
[39:01]an hour or two hours and it's not enough.
[39:04]So what does he do?
[39:04]He just shouts.
[39:06]He's not complaining to anybody.
[39:08]HE JUST SHOUTS OUCH THE WHOLE TIME.
[39:11]The prophet says every time that person shouts and screams Allah writes
[39:17]that asik and Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala wrote that entire stay in
[39:23]the hospital as every minute every night of it.
[39:27]So yes, you suffer, you go through a lot of difficulties, but
[39:30]in the end it's worth it.
[39:33]And anytime brothers and sisters, we speak about patience in the face
[39:42]of sickness, the most inspiring story or one of the most inspiring
[39:45]stories that we are told of in the Quran is the story
[39:53]of prophet Aub.
[39:53]It is so touching.
[39:55]Allahel speaks about this prophet Aub in multiple verses.
[40:04]Aub was the son-in-law of Ysef.
[40:08]Ysef the king, the prophet.
[40:10]Some traditions say he married the daughter.
[40:15]Some say the granddaughter.
[40:15]His wife obviously was the most beautiful woman of her time because
[40:21]Ysef is her father.
[40:23]Yousef was the most beautiful person Allah ever created.
[40:26]So that's I you see you know I'm related to Ysef.
[40:31]That's where anyway.
[40:34]So I'm not related to Ysef.
[40:42]I'm joking.
[40:42]So Aub has a perfect life.
[40:49]He's a prophet but he was rich.
[40:51]He owned massive lands.
[40:53]He owned all this livestock, the most beautiful wife.
[40:57]And he had all these children.
[40:59]Some traditions 10 children.
[41:03]I saw a tradition that says 18 children.
[41:03]So he had the best life possible.
[41:07]The shaitan [snorts] is envious.
[41:10]He can't stand it.
[41:13]He sees this guy has the best of both worlds.
[41:14]He's living like a king and he's a prophet.
[41:17]It doesn't make sense.
[41:20]Where's the suffering?
[41:20]See, it's not brothers and sisters, it's not easy becoming a prophet.
[41:23]The prophets of Allah have the most difficult lives.
[41:27]Trust me.
[41:29]You think your life is miserable.
[41:30]You think your life is tough.
[41:32]You think you're suffering.
[41:32]Every single prophet suffers more than every other nonprofit.
[41:38]That's why they become prophets is because of their patience and their
[41:42]dedication and their resilience.
[41:44]So the shaitan, he starts complaining to Allah.
[41:47]He says, "Ya Allah, the only reason Aub is such a good
[41:52]person and he's always praying on time and he's thanking you because
[41:54]you gave him everything.
[41:55]If you give me everything, I'll do the same." Allah tells him,
[42:00]"No, I know." Aub Aub is a genuine person, not opportunistic.
[42:03]Shaitan keeps on complaining.
[42:07]Allahawel decides to try Aub with a very difficult test to show
[42:14]that aub is a true gem.
[42:17]So all of the sudden one day Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala takes
[42:23]away all his property.
[42:23]There's a huge fire.
[42:26]He loses everything.
[42:27]They tell him all your lands, your orchards, the animals, anything you
[42:35]used to own all died, all gone.
[42:38]The hadith that's narrated, you know what he did?
[42:40]quickly went to sujud and he thanked allahel.
[42:45]He thanked allahel such that the angels of Allah were impressed.
[42:52]Sometimes brothers and sisters I tear my $20 shirt or dress and
[42:56]I'm complaining for an hour about it.
[42:59]Loses everything and he does sujud thanking Allahawel.
[43:03]He said Allah gave it to me.
[43:06]Allah can take it back whenever he wants.
[43:08]I didn't lose anything.
[43:08]It wasn't mine to begin with.
[43:10][snorts] Soan, he's like, "Ya Allah, well, you just took his property.
[43:18]What about his kids?
[43:18]He has all these beautiful kids.
[43:20]He's going to rebuild his business again." So Allahel in one day,
[43:27]you see how the test of prophets is so difficult.
[43:29]The shaitan starts what?
[43:34]He starts messing with you and he starts to focus all of
[43:40]his animosity against you because for most of us the shaitan doesn't
[43:45]have time for us.
[43:44]He has smaller working for him.
[43:48]He sends them to us.
[43:49]But the prophets of Allah and the imams know he knows that
[43:51]he has to go after them and he can't.
[43:58]So Allah takes all of his children.
[43:58]Just one day something happens, an accident.
[44:02]Every single child of his dies.
[44:04]They're not children, sons and daughters.
[44:06]10 or 18 depending on the different narrations.
[44:09]They tell him the the news.
[44:11]They break the news.
[44:14]If you're told that one child is sick in the hospital, what
[44:16]do you do?
[44:18]Imagine if you're told that every single son and daughter just died.
[44:21]What does he do?
[44:22]Once again, he goes to sujud.
[44:24]He says, "Allah, you're the one that brought them to this dunya
[44:30]and you're the one that took them back to you.
[44:32]They're not dead.
[44:33]They just move to a different life.
[44:35]I thank you, Ya Allah." The shaitan is so aggravated.
[44:38]What's up with this guy?
[44:40]There's nothing that will break him down.
[44:42]He asks Allah subhana t for more for more suffering for a
[44:50]and Allah knows Aub can take it.
[44:52]So then poverty begins to strike.
[44:55]He has no food to eat.
[44:59]Then he starts getting sick.
[45:01]He can't move his hands.
[45:04]He can't move his feet.
[45:05]He can't do anything until he becomes fully paralyzed and in pain.
[45:11]The only thing that he could do, the only thing that was
[45:13]functioning in his body, his eyes, he could see his ears.
[45:17]He could hear and his tongue, he could speak very slowly or
[45:22]else he was on the floor.
[45:23]So now he cannot even get food for himself.
[45:29]His children are all dead.
[45:32]The community abandon him.
[45:37]You know why?
[45:38]Because they start saying if Aub was really a prophet and Allah
[45:44]loved him, Allah would not take away all these good things from
[45:48]him.
[45:48]And this brothers and sisters is what really hurt Aub.
[45:52]You know there's a tradition from one of the imams where he
[45:54]says after au after this entire story A aub was asked what
[46:00]was the most difficult test that you went through losing the children
[46:04]losing you know the poverty the the humili he said the worst
[46:07]thing was the gloating of my own socalled religious community we thought
[46:14]you were religious we thought you were a prophet this is what
[46:20]really broke his heart and I've heard Some people who go through
[46:25]difficulties, disease, sickness, they have a a a child who is handicapped
[46:30]and they tell me that the pain of what people say about
[46:38]us behind our backs and sometimes no even in your face, no
[46:41]shame, is more than the pain of the actual disease or virus
[46:45]or the problem that we have.
[46:46]We don't know brothers and sisters how much damage this tongue can
[46:49]do when we speak about other people and we start to give
[46:54]all these interpretations.
[46:54]Why is this business going down?
[46:56]Why is his health going down?
[46:58]Why did he get divorced?
[46:58]Why?
[46:59]Why?
[46:59]Why?
[47:00]Always giving it bad interpretations.
[47:03]He became sick.
[47:04]He can't eat.
[47:06]His wife, her name was Rahma.
[47:09]So either the daughter of Ysef or the granddaughter.
[47:12]She wants to provide for her husband.
[47:14]She doesn't want to leave him.
[47:17]Very righteous woman.
[47:17]You know what she started doing?
[47:19]She was the daughter of Ysef King.
[47:21]They were so wealthy.
[47:25]She started working as a maid just so she can buy enough
[47:29]bread for her and her husband.
[47:29]That's how their life became.
[47:33]Yet they were so thankful to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
[47:39]You know what's really heartbreaking?
[47:42]The tradition says that one day his wife she went to serve
[47:48]in another house.
[47:50]They told her we don't need you today.
[47:52]She wanted to go serve some nobody wanted her.
[47:55]Nobody even wanted her to work as a maid because they're like
[48:01]this is a cursed family.
[48:01]God doesn't love them.
[48:05]So she found a salon somewhere far, a woman's salon.
[48:08]And she went and she asked the person there, "Can I work
[48:13]here and help you?" The lady said, "Sorry, no, we don't.
[48:17]There's no need." But she said, "But maybe I can help you
[48:20]somehow." How?
[48:21]She says, "Can I see your hair?" So that lady that owes
[48:25]the salah, she says, "Can I see your hair?" The wife of
[48:27]Aub, she says, "Yes." She looks at her hair.
[48:30]She sees it's very good, nice hair.
[48:31]She's like, "If you sell me your hair, I'll give you this
[48:34]amount of money." My hair?
[48:36]sell it to you?
[48:38]She's like, "Yeah, I can sell it as a wig and make
[48:41]a lot of money, so I'll I'll pay you for it." And
[48:42]she wasn't even paying her that much.
[48:43]She thinks it's a very difficult decision.
[48:47]What do I do here?
[48:50]She does not complain once.
[48:51]She says, "Fine, take it." She sells her hair so she can
[48:55]buy some food for Aub the prophet and herself.
[48:58]And she goes back home.
[49:00]when Aub found out his heart was so broken that he knew
[49:04]his wife had to sell her hair just to bring him food
[49:11]and then some of those so-called worshippers those monks they came to
[49:16]visit Aub and they're like yeah Aub's going on what sin did
[49:20]you do that Allah is doing this to you know how many
[49:22]years he was suffering seven years the hadith says seven years and
[49:29]not once did he ask Allah ya Allah Allah cure me such
[49:31]that his wife the hadith says asked him you're a prophet ask
[49:36]Allah to bring that end to this misery he said I'm embarrassed
[49:39]to ask Allah to cure me said why how many years did
[49:45]Allah give me those good days how many they were more than
[49:48]seven years they were let's say 20 years whenever my sickness becomes
[49:52]longer than my good days that's when I'll ask Allah to cure
[49:56]me I'm embarrassed I'm ashamed to ask Allah subhana wa ta'ala Not
[50:00]once.
[50:01]Can you believe that?
[50:01]He asked Allahawel to cure him.
[50:02]He was just praising Allah all the time.
[50:05]But when those so-called worshippers came and they started to stigmatize him
[50:10]and what sin did you do?
[50:11]This is when he turned to Allahawel and he did a dua.
[50:18]Allah records his dua in the Quran.
[50:19]What did he say?
[50:23]When he told Allah and he cried to Allah subhana wa ta'ala,
[50:36]ya Allah, you see my situation.
[50:39]You see all the tragedies and the pain and suffering and you
[50:43]are the most merciful.
[50:43]He did not even ask Allah to cure him.
[50:46]He just said, "Ya Allah, you see what I'm going through and
[50:50]you're so merciful." As soon as he made the dua, Allahel, he
[50:54]sent an angel.
[50:57]He erupted.
[50:59]The angel erupted a a like a well or a spring right
[51:02]by his feet and he took from that water and he poured
[51:07]it on Aub.
[51:09]As soon as the water fell on Aub's body, he recovered just
[51:17]like day one.
[51:20]And Allahel CURED HIM OF ALL HIS SICKNESSES.
[51:23]See the next verse.
[51:25]Allah says, Allah says that I answered his dua and I relieved
[51:32]them of his misery.
[51:36]And then Allah resurrected his sons and daughters, all of them.
[51:42]And he gave him more kids.
[51:43]and he gave him his property and everything that he has lost.
[51:48][snorts] And then allahel ends the verse by saying that let this
[51:55]be a lesson a reminder for all those that worship Allah all
[52:01]those that claim to be righteous that when you are in a
[52:06]state of despair and you're suffering allahel can also help you and
[52:10]save you.
[52:11]But sometimes Allah wants you to be patient so that you can
[52:15]reach those high levels of iman and be with the prophets and
[52:18]imams.
[52:19]May Allahel grant you all the best in this world.
[52:24]May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala accept your may Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[52:27]forgive us of all our deeds.
[52:29]Anyone that is sick, ya Allah, we ask you to give them
[52:35]patience, to give them patience and resilience and to eventually cure them
[52:39]and elevate their status.
[52:39]And let us end by reciting surah fat for all the believers
[52:44]all the and that are in need after a loud salawat for
[52:47]Muhammad and al Muhammad.
