[0:00]foreign God um foreign foreign [Music] Allah pledge yourself with prayer and
[1:54]remain steady on it offer it as much as possible and seek
[2:00]nearness to Allah through it because it is written in the Quran
[2:07]that's upon the Believers there is a time which is ordained for
[2:16]it have you not seen when those who are in hell are
[2:20]asked the question why are you in hell they replied by saying
[2:27]we were not amongst those who used to offer prayers certainly press
[2:32]drop sins the way leaves drop from trees and they removed them
[2:40]the way a rope is removed from the neck of a cattle
[2:46]the holy prophet peace be upon him and his family used to
[2:52]say that prayers are like having a hot bath at your door
[2:57]five times a day which buys you and will you ever have
[3:02]any dirt remaining on you after having done this certainly those people
[3:12]who recognize the importance of prayer are not affected by the property
[3:17]that they own or by the coolness that comes to the eyes
[3:25]from having children for surely Allah has said in the Quran there
[3:30]are men who neither merchandise or trades affect their remembrance of Allah
[3:37]and their establishment of Salah certainly even the holy prophet peace be
[3:43]upon him and his family after being assured of Heaven did not
[3:50]stop exerting himself in prayer and this continued in the command where
[3:56]God said to the holy prophet peace be upon him and his
[4:02]family that enjoying prayer amongst your followers and be steadfast upon it
[4:08]he used to exert prayers on his followers and enjoin prayers on
[4:17]himself the first Salaam [Music] Allah a third in honor of the
[4:37]Imam of our time Imam [Music] [Applause] respected Scholars brothers and sisters
[4:54]sermon 199 of is known as the sermon of pledging yourself with
[5:04]prayer no doubt nobody had a relationship with Salat like Imam Ali
[5:09]alaihissalam he was born in the house of Allah and he died
[5:12]in the house of Allah he was born as we all know
[5:17]in the Kaaba and died having been struck in the house of
[5:24]Allah therefore you find that if anyone claims to be a follower
[5:29]of Imam then no doubt that person has to always ask themselves
[5:33]and compare themselves to the life of Imam and without a doubt
[5:43]wanted his followers to be amongst those who loved Salah the question
[5:47]arises how can I reach that love of Salah that he had
[5:52]because for many of us in reality that love for Salah doesn't
[5:56]really exist we respect Salah but respecting something does not necessarily mean
[6:02]you love something and loving something can be either out of understanding
[6:07]or it could be out of affection as in if you ask
[6:12]many Muslims in the world today they'll say to you we respect
[6:14]Namaz and that's a true mean is someone who prays Salah but
[6:21]that's Salah that we pray for some reason in some cases doesn't
[6:24]give us the buzz that we want okay I can pray Salah
[6:28]but I find that when I finish Salah I don't have that
[6:31]spiritual feeling that I want some people end up going and practicing
[6:38]other exercises in the world today as in there are some who
[6:40]have gone towards a world of yoga there are others who have
[6:45]gone to other mystical elements of the world maybe go hiking to
[6:50]a mountain somewhere and sit and reflect of course these types of
[6:54]practices where a person goes to meditate these meditations are not anti-islam
[6:59]at the end of the day my Prophet choose to go to
[7:03]a cave in a man meditate but Salah as we know in
[7:06]contrast to meditation Salah was that act which was obligatory yet when
[7:13]maula talks about Salah there's a difference in the way that mola
[7:18]describes Salah and the way that we describe Salah in Salah when
[7:21]he gets struck says I have been Victorious that somehow being struck
[7:29]in Salah means that he has now achieved everything he's wanted in
[7:33]life all of us have goals but I don't think any of
[7:37]our goals will reach a level where if someone struck Us in
[7:40]Salah we'll feel that we've achieved our life aspiration in many cases
[7:47]you'll even find that sadly there are some of mawla's lovers who
[7:50]don't even pray they could fall into a couple of categories one
[7:53]category is a very unique group who say that we will not
[8:00]pray because he was killed in Salah which is arguably one of
[8:02]the most absurd things I've ever come across but Humanity doesn't surprise
[8:05]me with how absurd it can become that group of people say
[8:10]that mola was struck in his sujood therefore we don't pray anymore
[8:15]and at the end of the day there's still a book called
[8:18]the Quran if we seem to have forgotten and also number two
[8:21]mola's son seemed to continue to love Salah that when we talk
[8:27]about mawla Sons we say is [Applause] we are highlighting on the
[8:36]first of all anyone who says I won't pray because maulah died
[8:39]in sujood that's on the first level is pretty absurd then there's
[8:44]a second group who are they they are the ones who say
[8:48]my love for mawla is my Salah sometimes I think that that's
[8:52]more that wheel than that is belief because you'll find some who'll
[8:56]say for example that Hajj is to visit the Imam of my
[9:00]time when there is a Kaaba there in Mecca some have turned
[9:03]around what did they say they said that my Salah is my
[9:08]Aza foreign that is my Salah when they say that that is
[9:16]my Salah what do they mean they say that listen I don't
[9:20]need to pray I cry for Iman Ali I cook food for
[9:24]Imam Ali and this of course is one of shaytan's favorite tricks
[9:27]when he teaches you how to compartmentalize religion that if I do
[9:32]X Y and Z I don't need to do a b and
[9:35]c that could have happened to each of us in life by
[9:38]the way where what we begin to convince ourselves from the whispering
[9:41]of shaytan is that if I've done these things I don't need
[9:46]to do these things no no no they're not enemies of one
[9:49]another I can pray and I could also listen to my side
[9:54]I can pray and I could do other I could pray and
[9:56]I'd go on ziara but the sad thing is when you see
[10:01]the lover of maula on Muharram Morning has woken up and has
[10:05]missed Fajr or has gone on and has not prayed Fajr therefore
[10:11]that was another group then there's the third group who are they
[10:15]this third group loves a little bait but they don't pray at
[10:20]all they just gone through a lazy streak or maybe spiritually they
[10:22]want a buzz so that they start praying therefore these groups what
[10:28]they haven't seemingly understood is how beautifully mola established Salah why most
[10:34]of the time if you ask many of us what's our mola's
[10:37]Hadith on Salah tell me five hadiths from maula on Salah or
[10:44]tell me ten hadiths from Maulana let me give you an example
[10:47]I'm the type of person who gets sleepy for some reason at
[10:53]Salah time what's mola said about people like me okay let me
[10:56]give you a second one I'm the type of person who wants
[11:00]to find a way in which I could respect Allah when I'm
[11:02]in Salah what's mola said about that number three I'm a type
[11:07]of person who when he finishes Salah just gets up I don't
[11:10]really do any duas what's mola said about that number four what's
[11:16]mola said for example about jamaat has mola stressed on jamaat Namaz
[11:19]or was mola more interested in individual numbers number five did mola
[11:24]accept any Namaz today there are Namaz or Salah in certain Muslim
[11:28]schools we that means it's always something that we should do or
[11:36]that mawla even have boundaries when it came to Salah further than
[11:40]that did mawla have to tell me about what I should wear
[11:43]when I get to Salah is it okay for me just to
[11:46]have like some Nike shorts and like a vest when I come
[11:48]to Salah then mawla talk about did maulah tell me how I
[11:53]should smell when I get to Salah did mawla tell me that
[11:55]if I've had drugs or alcohol do I stop praying or do
[12:01]I continue to pray did mola ever teach me what rukua means
[12:04]what tech beer means what should the first sajda means what getting
[12:10]up from the first sajda means what going back to the second
[12:12]such that what getting up from the second Sage that means I
[12:15]guarantee you the reason that we have no relationship with Salah is
[12:21]that we have never examined mawla Salah 's greatest moments came in
[12:27]his Salah if you want to study his life you'll see however
[12:30]intellectual he is he still loves his moments with God don't ever
[12:36]let your phds and mscs and bscs make you feel that you've
[12:42]done everything in life alongside that we always need God time we
[12:46]need a time to be alone with our Lord therefore tonight I'd
[12:49]like to examine this sermon in nature sermon 199 of natural balaka
[12:57]the sermon that I quoted at the beginning of this lecture is
[13:00]quite a long sermon but it's only about at the beginning only
[13:08]about Salah maula opens up about Salah let's write examine that maula's
[13:13]history of Salah his life with Salah the sermon with Salah his
[13:17]greatest moments in Salah and whether we tonight can make a promise
[13:20]to Allah that our Salah will be a bit similar to his
[13:26]let's examine this and dissect the topic in complete depth maula's Journey
[13:31]with Salah begun at a very young age as we all know
[13:34]there were first three to praise Allah to the extent that there
[13:50]would be some people when they'd walk past them near the Kaaba
[13:52]they'd come and say who are these and the locals of quraish
[13:58]would say for example Abbas the uncle of rasulullah I would say
[14:02]that's my nephew Muhammad and that is my nephew Ali and that's
[14:06]Muhammad's wife Khadijah and those early period maula was still young mola
[14:11]being young from a young age Salah was established in his life
[14:16]naturally being established at a young age it did not mean that
[14:23]rasulullah felt religiosity was only for old people not at all rasulullah
[14:29]wanted an inculcation of Acts of worship for youngsters in a beautiful
[14:34]way for us today for example one of the meritorious things I've
[14:40]seen in Birmingham jamaat in particular is that there is a program
[14:43]for children and a program for adults instead of children just being
[14:46]thrown in some hole somewhere to run around there is a person
[14:51]who's teaching them talking to them slowly establishing Salah what's the age
[14:54]difference between rasool Allah 30-year difference in his thirties while raising Amir
[15:09]and was raising him in Salah maula would come and that's why
[15:12]one of the best acts that any father could do is that
[15:16]from a young age they take their kids with them at least
[15:20]at least at least the child may not know what that Salah
[15:24]is but the child grows up in the atmosphere of Salah the
[15:32]atmosphere of mosque the atmosphere of humility and gratefulness because ultimately what
[15:38]was Salah in the eyes of maula Salah in the eyes of
[15:40]mola were two main words at the beginning humility and great fullness
[15:45]and I tell you something those early years where the new Companions
[15:52]of rasulallah joined the religion of Islam Wallah in those early years
[15:57]they suffered to pray Salah today I could come to the mosque
[16:01]I can pray Jamaica comfortably in Birmingham or wherever I am I
[16:05]can relax in those early days I remember when converted to the
[16:12]religion of Islam musab was one of the richest of the Arabs
[16:17]his family were very wealthy must have joined the religion of Islam
[16:21]he would secretly come and meet the prophet peace be upon him
[16:24]and his family and others and pray Salah with them where they
[16:29]used to pray Salah secretly a few of them look how vital
[16:32]and Powerful Salah was for them and they say that Salah by
[16:37]the way in early Islam because you know most of the laws
[16:40]of Islam were established in Medina Hajj Medina zakat Medina homes Medina
[16:48]Jihad Medina they say that the earliest Act of law that possibly
[16:55]was established in Mecca was Salah fasting Medina the rest of them
[17:02]Medina but the earliest act that was made law but how was
[17:08]it some say that it became an act straight after rasulullah returned
[17:12]from Maharaj when the holy prophet came back from Maharaj of course
[17:16]he was in Mecca when he came back he said my Lord
[17:21]has ordered me to establish Salah when he said that my Lord
[17:24]has ordered me to establish Salah what he meant at the beginning
[17:27]According to some ulama was that Salah the beginning was only two
[17:33]times in the morning and in the evening the community was still
[17:36]a small one it was not easy for them to come out
[17:39]and say hey by the way I'm Muslim the rest of them
[17:45]would have finished you they used to meet secretly in the house
[17:51]when he became Muslim would go then you don't tell everyone that
[17:58]you're praying why because of danger for your life that you've converted
[18:02]to Muhammad's new religion had become a Muslim and he found out
[18:10]that he was praying with rasulullah with the others he went and
[18:14]told moshab's Mom you know like you always have a class Niche
[18:19]he wins it's almost ab's mom when he told mosab's mom's mom
[18:24]rebuked this they were working their socks off just to find a
[18:32]place to pray Salah and we take our mosques for granted you
[18:36]know where they used to pray Jamal they would go somewhere hidden
[18:40]to pray he was one of the earliest converts to Islam the
[18:46]father of the notorious they used to go and pray in Jamaica
[18:52]one day one of the meccans realized these guys are praying in
[18:55]Jamaica they went as a gang of Mexicans to go and hit
[18:59]them while they were praying in jamaa with one another picks up
[19:03]a bone of a skull maybe of a camel or something he
[19:07]picks it up and he hit the person because obviously you're praying
[19:10]and someone's coming and hitting you that person got killed they say
[19:15]that was the first killing in Islam where a Muslim was defending
[19:19]themselves therefore in that early period of Islam Imam sure number one
[19:26]Companions of rasulullah who were ready to pray to Allah in the
[19:30]most difficult circumstances may Allah never show you a country where you
[19:35]cannot pray Namaz in your life don't take this for granted say
[19:41]Shakur when you have a city like your City where you can
[19:43]pray Salah for example on a night like this I stress that
[19:48]build your mosque here in Birmingham and establish Salah the way Salah
[19:53]was established in early Islam and nobody went through hardship in establishing
[19:58]Salah in early Islam like Imam Ali's teacher rasool Allah [Music] they
[20:08]asked they asked one of the companions what was the worst moment
[20:12]that you saw when new people used to pray Salah in your
[20:16]early days he said we saw people who used to come and
[20:22]throw feces on the head of rasulullah and you would have people
[20:29]who would come and throw things on him and his daughter Fatima
[20:31]would wipe his face and there were others who said we're going
[20:36]to throw a stone on Muhammad's head never forget the Messiah rasulullah
[20:41]and mawla used to see this how much passion rasulullah had for
[20:45]Salah there must be something in Salah that makes him love it
[20:51]so much and you saw rasulullah slowly begin to show mola all
[20:54]the secrets of Salah one by one and that's where maulah gives
[21:01]the sermon to his sahaba about Salah how does he begin pledge
[21:04]yourself with the Salah and remain steady on it as much as
[21:12]possible try and pray and gain nearness to Allah that's the first
[21:18]line which is what which is have that respect for Salah pledge
[21:22]yourself say that I will never miss Salah I don't care if
[21:28]it's come the wettest day rainiest day Thunder because you know in
[21:32]Islam there is absolutely no excuse to miss Salah in your life
[21:37]why why is there no excuse because even if you're on your
[21:40]deathbed and you are in a hospital bed you could still move
[21:45]other parts of your body so that you could be praying to
[21:47]Allah because sometimes I've seen people who blatantly they'll say to you
[21:51]bro I've got a headache I can't pray yeah headache has given
[21:56]you every opportunity to pray someone says but bro you know what
[22:01]I haven't found a place to pray then pray in the streets
[22:02]what's wrong with praying in the street go and pray in the
[22:06]streets Allah I respect sometimes I see these people they might be
[22:08]cab drivers in some countries I've been to in the world I
[22:11]see him on the sidewalk praying Salah and I don't care he's
[22:16]my meth have others he's a Muslim lover of Allah I see
[22:20]them praying Salah a person says I am someone who drunk or
[22:25]I am someone who took drugs doesn't matter you have to continue
[22:27]praying he says no no but I heard 40 days throw that
[22:31]40 days out of your window there's no such thing as 40
[22:32]days never does that of Allah stop don't let shaytan tell you
[22:38]because you know what you're a hypocrite now so what's the point
[22:41]of talking to Allah Allah's door never closes for anyone every single
[22:45]time and that's why Imam used to say whoever has come towards
[22:55]their Salah knowing the rights of their Salah on them Allah does
[23:00]what Allah forgives all of their sins having that respect for Salah
[23:07]that I will never miss Salah if it's the wettest day if
[23:10]it's raining someone says but sometimes I'm on a flight in the
[23:12]flight pray I've seen Muslims and Allah it's embarrassing Wallah on a
[23:19]plane you see them go hours on the flight not one of
[23:22]them gets up to do his who said you need to go
[23:29]to the stewardess or the steward and say can I pray here
[23:31]in your seat you get up you do that Tech beer ask
[23:35]for the direction ask for the direction how could you go on
[23:40]a flight with your friends go chill have a holiday in the
[23:43]plane ask for the direction of the Qibla and all you have
[23:46]to do then is pray within five minutes you would have done
[23:50]your Salah you could see outside that there's a chance you're gonna
[23:53]miss Fajr do not miss Fajr otherwise you haven't understood the man
[23:56]killed in Fajr when he would see such a he would talk
[24:01]he would talk to the sky he would say you are a
[24:06]witness that never was I asleep oh son when you came out
[24:08]and his Shear asleep as if nothing's happened nothing so how could
[24:15]you say you love maula when he used to say son have
[24:19]you ever seen me or the darkness of the night have you
[24:21]ever seen that I'm asleep and did not wake up for my
[24:25]bedroom if you are on a flight somewhere you know there's a
[24:27]chance that Fajr you might knock out whatever whatever my brother Allah
[24:34]has blessed you to be able to travel around the world get
[24:37]up at that moment do not be embarrassed you think was embarrassed
[24:42]was embarrassed the others of the sahaba of the Early times of
[24:47]the religion of Islam were they embarrassed they were facing people who
[24:51]were ready to kill them for praying and you have planes which
[24:54]would beg you juancy coffee coffee tea dinner drink no I don't
[24:59]want I just want to know which way is Mecca now the
[25:01]technology on planes I've even seen planes which are not for Muslim
[25:05]countries they show you where you're heading and some Muslim countries their
[25:09]planes nice every one hour every half another there's a compass which
[25:15]way is Kaaba never could be a situation so the first law
[25:17]for Imam Ali was what for Salah pledge yourself with Salah make
[25:24]a pledge to Salah I'm gonna protect you I want you to
[25:27]protect me on Rihanna that's the first thing then what did mawla
[25:34]say he said because it is upon the Believers at a prescribed
[25:37]time second secret tomorrow what is it could what is the Salah
[25:41]is four eyes of the Quran he quotes 4 103 then he
[25:55]quote 74 42-43 then he quotes 24 37 then he called Surah
[26:02]20 verse 132 let's start with the first one first one it
[26:05]has been prescribed on the believer Salah at set time second secret
[26:11]of Salah what is it Salah is that one don't pray at
[26:17]8 26.
[26:15]is that one you want to taste the flavor of Salah you
[26:21]take a step to turning up to my appointment on time I
[26:25]will look after your soul whenever you want imagine now I had
[26:29]an appointment with the doctors when you have a deployment with a
[26:32]doctor or you booked a a restaurant or something like that you
[26:35]will when you know you're 10 minutes late hey sorry I'm so
[26:38]sorry I I could be 10 minutes late can you please forgive
[26:40]me and with Allah seven hours go past that's nearly a cover
[26:46]you haven't even shown respect to the Creator the way you show
[26:51]respect to the creation the Creator who has given me everything I
[26:55]have in life has looked after me in everything has protected me
[26:59]and everything has blessed me with everything I cannot turn up on
[27:04]time for Allah's meeting maula says the second secret of Salah was
[27:08]turn up on time when Salah has been prescribed to you at
[27:12]a certain time no one is saying that it's Haram you praying
[27:16]a few hours later it's not Haram otherwise Allah wouldn't give us
[27:19]that period to praise Salah but if the secrets notice a teacher
[27:25]who looks at a student coming to class on time is always
[27:29]their attitude different to the student who's always late and our childhood
[27:33]we went to school if school lesson was at a certain time
[27:36]those who used to come before the Bell were always their attitude
[27:40]and their respect from the teacher was different to the ones who
[27:44]came late Allah same with us the Quran said that Salah is
[27:47][Applause] being prescribed on the Believers at ordained times that's the first
[28:01]Ayah on salaam Allah quotes he then explains Salah how does he
[28:04]then explain Salah he then explains do you know what you're heading
[28:08]towards he says verily prayer drops sins the way leaves fall off
[28:17]trees and removes them the way the Rope is removed from the
[28:20]neck of a cattle when I have sins I when Salah I
[28:25]come to Salah Salah helps the removal of my sins but before
[28:28]I've even come to Salah does something before you come to Salah
[28:34]you get to vote first isn't it when I come to World
[28:37]War how was this how old is this hey I'll be there
[28:48]in five seconds just give me that's us maula o Allah put
[28:51]light on this face when the faces are darkened on the day
[28:57]of judgment when maula would come to his right arm he would
[28:59]say oh Allah allow me to be of the people of the
[29:02]right on the day of judgment when he'd come on the left
[29:05]he would say oh Allah do not let me be of the
[29:07]people of the left and when when he'd wipe his head he
[29:09]would wipe with that respect of lowering his head before Allah and
[29:15]then when he'd wipe his feet he would say Ya Allah do
[29:17]not let these feet slip While others are slipping on the day
[29:24]of judgment tell me how many of us recite the duas of
[29:26]Amir al-manin when he says lines like Allah oh Allah give light
[29:38]on my face on the day when those faces are darkened how
[29:41]many of us recite that Dua when we wash our face people
[29:44]say to me said Hamad I don't feel Salah I say Baba
[29:49]because maula is teaching us to do one thing in we are
[29:52]doing something else many of us are not showing concern then they
[29:56]say to mola they say to mola why does your face turn
[30:00]pale as you approach Salah he says because I am heading to
[30:03]Japan I'm heading to the one listen to his line I am
[30:08]heading to the one who the heavens and the Earth could not
[30:14]take his trust we the humans took his trusts I am now
[30:16]about to go and talk to him I asked you how many
[30:20]of you in your Salah have ever felt that at all in
[30:24]your life you could achieve it mind you you could achieve it
[30:27]maulah doesn't say it's unachievable he says say the lines that I
[30:34]said turn up on time when you do turn up on time
[30:38]you say the lines that I've said no one thing that's also
[30:40]your clothing and your perfume is vital maula used to say wear
[30:46]your best clothes when you come to Salah what does best clothes
[30:48]mean not the most expensive but the cleanest clothes I've seen and
[30:53]it's not Haram but you do see people with shorts praying Salah
[30:58]but I ask you if you are going for an important meeting
[31:00]would you honestly wear shorts for that meeting or if you're going
[31:04]for an important meeting would you obviously would you honestly wear a
[31:08]t-shirt that stings honestly maula before he would go to meet Allah
[31:12]he would always put perfume on himself that culture of atar has
[31:18]gone in our community in the past people when they would come
[31:21]to Salah there would be a culture of actually giving each other
[31:24]now people can come to Salah there's no concern it's just minor
[31:29]things but you know what it is it's you saying Allah how
[31:32]could I come and meet you and meet your creation your creation
[31:37]I meet them with a suit with the best look with the
[31:40]best perfume and you I come to you with no concern whatsoever
[31:45]my socks maybe socks that are dirty my clothes may be clothes
[31:50]that have not been washed maula used to say clothing and perfume
[31:56]people normally would not associate this no no it's vital why because
[32:01]I'm building etiquette with Allah I'm saying yeah Allah when I'm gonna
[32:05]come and approach you I'm gonna come and approach you in my
[32:07]best of ways mawla says when you're coming to the Salas what
[32:12]are they doing to you he says the prophet used to say
[32:14]that Salah is what is like having a hot bath five times
[32:21]a day have you ever thought of your Salah like that he
[32:24]says the hot bath washes away all your dirt Salah washes away
[32:29]all of your sins imagine that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is so
[32:33]merciful that every day five times a day he offers us a
[32:39]chance to restart and rebuild again and they say God wants to
[32:42]send us to jahannam if Allah is offering you five baths a
[32:48]day imagine mola says they will remain no dirt on that person
[32:50]who prays five times a day when I used to pray five
[32:54]times a day what do I think when I was younger that
[32:55]I'm praying five times a day out of being scared of Allah
[32:59]no if I change and think that these are five meetings in
[33:02]the day where I have a chance to have a fresh start
[33:07]with Allah that psychology changes from being a chore that my parents
[33:13]forced on me to being the greatest spiritual act in Islam but
[33:18]then I asked mola a question mola I want to ask you
[33:23]will this beer Roku and then after the court you get up
[33:26]and then sujud and then you get up and then sujood and
[33:31]then you get up what is the philosophy of all of that
[33:35]how many of your non-muslim friends have you ever explained the philosophy
[33:38]of every part of salatu if I can't explain it to them
[33:43]how do I explain it to myself how many of you I
[33:46]want to ask the lovers of Imam if I was to ask
[33:50]you all the questions explained it to me explain it explain each
[33:55]part of the Salah you love Emirates you say you're Shia okay
[33:58]so how was his Salah what what did he explained to me
[34:03]what was the record what was standing up from record why to
[34:06]such this you know what mawla does for us is he takes
[34:09]us to the very psychology of why we do these things sometimes
[34:12]non-muslims say to me you know I don't like the very rigid
[34:18]Islamic laws of prayer say why say I could just come and
[34:20]pray at the end of the day and raise my hands true
[34:24]Christians Christians they love their prayer because they can just come at
[34:29]the end of the day and say God you know what I'm
[34:31]a sinner forgive me okay cool let's go to bed me the
[34:36]Muslim I have to make sure I find a place and the
[34:40]place is pure and after the place is pure I've got to
[34:44]get pure now said Ahmad is saying that not just get pure
[34:46]I have to also recite Dua at every single section of my
[34:50]Salah because maula was saying Dua every section of his world war
[34:54]then I have to ask myself a question why do I do
[34:58]Tech beer why Roku but then from why couldn't I just jump
[35:02]straight to sujood why do I get up okay so George why
[35:07]not once why truth is this okay what is the meaning of
[35:12]getting up in the middle of the truth does why can't I
[35:14]just say something and then gets up maulah explains each one for
[35:21]us he says what do I say when I do all of
[35:27]you say it what do we say he says at that moment
[35:31]what you are saying is Allah is greater than anything I perceive
[35:35]Allah is above everything yes Allahu Akbar he says listen to this
[35:43]he says your core is when you extend your head saying I
[35:48]am ready for this head to be beheaded for the sake of
[35:52]this religion have you ever thought of your head position and record
[35:56]we only think of the back if you ask anyone what's record
[36:01]they say your back is Straight No One mentions the head knew
[36:05]it would be the head at the end he said is when
[36:13]you extend your head enough to say I do not mind it
[36:19]being beheaded for the sake of religion try doing record tonight with
[36:24]that mentality see the level of Iman how much it goes up
[36:30]here can you imagine in your record you think you know what
[36:34]you're Allah this neck is for you and this head could be
[36:38]struck for you why do you think he wasn't worried about being
[36:41]struck on the head because he knew part of the philosophy was
[36:45]that that was it was for eign he said that moment of
[36:57]getting up why you didn't go straight into sujood why is it
[37:00]that you went up he said that's when you stand up and
[37:05]recognize Allah as your creator he said then when you go into
[37:10]the first stage there you go put your head on Earth realizing
[37:12]where you came from where did I come from when I get
[37:20]up in the middle after I've got up from first sister what
[37:24]does that mean that Allah is the one who gave me life
[37:26]after I came from the Earth that I will one day return
[37:35]to uh then he says well the second time you get up
[37:40]from Jordan's what is that there's a day that I will have
[37:42]to sit up and answer on the day of judgment I want
[37:48]you all to take all of that see your Salah today in
[37:53]record when you put your head forward like that I want you
[37:58]to imagine that this head I do not mind if it goes
[38:03]Islam stays Hussein sure thing saying it I think Jose's head in
[38:10]Carabella just after Salah taken mola turned around what did he say
[38:17]Don't just pray otherwise people will one day leave Islam's prayer and
[38:20]they'll go and sign up in their local health club for other
[38:24]forms of meditation the whole of meditation is in this Salah God
[38:33]is greater than all that I will ever perceive and that my
[38:37]head is ready to be cut for my lord for I know
[38:42]that my Lord is the one who created me and I know
[38:44]where I came from in this earth and I get up because
[38:48]I recognize he gave me life and I know one day that
[38:52]I will return below the Earth and I get up because one
[38:54]day there will be a day where I have to answer for
[38:59]everything that he's given does anyone explain anyone look at the Oz
[39:08]after a man died and said I have been victorious in Salah
[39:12]that some of us don't even want to pray Salah anymore it's
[39:15]because we forgot the spirituality and meaning of Salah maula then says
[39:20]that after Salah what then happens he says that after Salah some
[39:26]people get up and they walk away from Salah quickly true some
[39:29]of us as soon as we finish as soon as we finish
[39:32]Aisha I you know sometimes I see my Sunni brothers and sisters
[39:36]after their Salah they stay for the nawafil prayers they do the
[39:42]nothing they stay and then after that as well they stay with
[39:44]zikr no one wants to run away sometimes with us I see
[39:49]people getting up from Salah some will do Dua Imam used to
[39:52]say that try and do thicker after you finish Salah what did
[39:56]he used to say you should do he used to say do
[39:57]the Ayatul Kursi foreign [Music] foreign main is the Salah the desert
[40:34]is what is that liquor that you do after what is that
[40:37]Dicker remember one thing why jabbat acts are what they are what
[40:41]keep you upright mustafab is the supplement that keeps your Fitness going
[40:48]if you go to the gym when you work out you always
[40:53]look for a supplement to try and take that may increase your
[40:57]protein intake or whatever for us Salah has a supplement called Dua
[41:01]and liquor and the first thing they do as soon as they
[41:16]finish Salah is the test be of my grandmother father the fire
[41:20]of Hell will never touch that person never because that person has
[41:28]continued talking to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and then what does mola
[41:33]continue to say then mawla continues to say and I love Salah
[41:39]is that which is beloved to me we are not a community
[41:46]that is very much as strong in Jama maula used to love
[41:51]Jama from the beginning of his life together the early Muslims and
[41:58]teach this even just at home it's nice if a father gathers
[42:01]his wife the kid's nice maybe once a week go in Jama
[42:06]and pray that's not Haram husband and wife can pray in Salah
[42:09]together with one another there is no issue whatsoever maula used to
[42:13]say if a mosque is near this is why you're a mosque
[42:16]you must make sure that there is a mosque in our community
[42:21]and not just an imambarga used to say a person who has
[42:23]a mosque near them to pray Jamal and still sitting at home
[42:29]is not one of us every footsteps to mosque sins are deleted
[42:33]from your life and not just even if it was difficult to
[42:42]pray I remember in the battle when IBN Abba says mola looking
[42:49]around mola said what you looking for he said I want to
[42:53]see if it's time for Salah he said mawla we're in the
[42:55]middle of the battlefield is that the reason we are fighting this
[42:59]battle is to establish Salah the whole reason is to establish Salah
[43:02]look at Imam a few hours before he dies where is that
[43:08]jamaa philosophy gone in our method where is that jamaa philosophy we
[43:14]used to be another companions would stand behind him and stand in
[43:20]front of him to take the arrow so that he does not
[43:26]die maulah used to say that there is unity in Jamaica between
[43:29]us True Jamaica builds unity in the community all of us come
[43:33]together another favorite prayer of maula was what outside of the wajabbat
[43:37]was what Salat used to love it so much that in the
[43:45]Battle of safin there was a night in safin it was called
[43:51]it was the most vicious night of fighting in Elizabeth's entire history
[43:56]you could hear swords ripping each other cutting each other that night
[44:02]middle of the battle moves what is it I'm going to pray
[44:08]but people are looking it's the most vicious battle never that was
[44:18]his love he used to say the moment from that day I
[44:29]never miss Salah he used to say that is from the of
[44:35]the prophet and brings the pleasure of Allah and makes the body
[44:39]healthy unbelievable listen to these three lines he says never miss the
[44:51]night prayers why do I mention the night prayers because the night
[44:55]prayers is when you can talk to Allah alone without anyone else
[44:58]listening you know on 21st nights we're going to recite something called
[45:07]munajat true what's why don't we call it Dua why do I
[45:14]call it what's the difference between anyone can recite whether they are
[45:20]obedient to Allah or not are the words of the lovers of
[45:28]Allah today anyone who's not that really just couldn't do it they
[45:31]don't write munajat all right find me someone now who's not that
[45:37]religious they will still read Allah bless me bless my family give
[45:42]me good health no problem but you'll never see them writing a
[45:45]whispered prayer of love is the lover talking to the Beloved why
[45:50]even Allah says who is that person who's awake while they're all
[45:56]asleep for he woke up to talk to me while the rest
[46:03]were asleep never missed his name is that Allah sees you want
[46:11]to talk to him Imam used to say a line I'll never
[46:14]forget he used to say that never or she I would never
[46:19]miss Salah you know Salah is say we'll never miss our Shia
[46:26]I will never miss which one which you don't need to pray
[46:29]all 11.
[46:30]remember don't do religion on quantity do religion on quality with presence
[46:44]of heart is better in the eyes of Allah into their life
[47:01]meaning some talk to Allah meaning some humility meaning some gratefulness have
[47:05]you ever had a moment where your mom's sitting alone in the
[47:07]sitting room at home and you go and sit with her in
[47:11]the darkness of the night no one else is there you just
[47:13]chat why do you do that why don't you just go upstairs
[47:15]or why don't you just go home because you love talking to
[47:19]Mom you could see moms alone he's just gonna talk to her
[47:21]that same love can you find it for Allah where you say
[47:25]you know what there's no one at home or there's no one
[47:29]here everyone's asleep I want to talk to you tonight I want
[47:31]to open up to you more Allah says it is the of
[47:35]the Prophet then he says number two it brings the pleasure of
[47:38]Allah what else do I want but the pleasure of Allah isn't
[47:41]that the riches of this world if I get the pleasure of
[47:45]Allah then number three says and it brings a healthy body now
[47:48]I don't know I must admit on this point I've seen certain
[47:53]people do yoga when they do yoga I see certain positions in
[47:57]yoga about straightening backs about breathing positions and so on I begun
[48:05]to wonder whether a person goes in cupping their hands you know
[48:09]when you cup your hands in Namaz you don't just say what
[48:14]you do a love a love just notice the breathing movements as
[48:19]you're talking there is actually a breathing in and out is produces
[48:28]a healthy body not soul there's something about Salah if it is
[48:33]done properly 300 times let's say 100 times then seven times oh
[48:43]Allah this is the position of the one who seeks Refuge from
[48:46]you then 40 people you pray for I wonder does the body
[48:52]become more healthy because of the body being in a standing position
[48:55]with the hands being cupped does the blood circulate in a different
[48:59]way in the night or not today when I see people saying
[49:05]in my community we've gone to yoga I believe there was a
[49:09]secret pointed to that produces a healthy body he could have easily
[49:17]said it produces a healthy Soul no no healthy body stand straight
[49:23]chest out hands forward breathing slowly talking it seems that there was
[49:30]a secret that the Chinese and the Indians and Hindus and others
[49:36]if you look at those who do your yoga they chant what
[49:40]do they chant they chant the name of God when they do
[49:43]it what do they all chant who could tell me um why
[49:48]do they chant that what do we do in Salah we talk
[49:52]to Allah chanting 300 times don't we what we are doing is
[49:59]breathing movements in one position in Salah Imam was asked if someone's
[50:02]sleepy in Salah should they pray he said no they said what
[50:06]do you mean no he said if you're sleepy don't pray at
[50:10]that moment because the Salah may not be for you it becomes
[50:12]against you why because you don't even want to talk to Allah
[50:16]properly because you're sleepy how many of us when we're sleepy and
[50:20]you tell someone get up get up you have to pray now
[50:22]it's about three in the afternoon you're a bit knocked out should
[50:24]you pray at that moment no no hold back hold back someone
[50:28]say about shaytan will affect me no get up and talk to
[50:30]Allah with respect is better than talking to Allah wanting to stop
[50:34]talking to Allah if you're sleepy don't talk to Allah when you're
[50:40]fit and you're fresh do not put a gun on someone's head
[50:44]and say that if you do that it's Haram they just say
[50:45]try and think of how much respect you have for Allah and
[50:50]then you will see the wonders of Allah in your Salah did
[50:55]he see the wonders of Allah no doubt and in say something
[50:58]he says even rasulullah was assured of Jannah he never stopped praying
[51:04]to Allah he says but those who are in hell when the
[51:19]Quran says to them why are you in hell they say we
[51:23]were not of those who used to pray Salah he says therefore
[51:27]in the Quran Allah is showing you before hell and day of
[51:30]judgment comes one of the reasons someone will not make it to
[51:33]Heaven is because they did not pray their Salah some of his
[51:38]greatest moments no doubt were in his salaam and I ask Allah
[51:40]Allah how did he achieve those moments no doubt respect punctuality humility
[51:47]love to talk to Allah cleanliness all of these if you put
[51:54]them together even an arrow in your body you don't feel when
[51:56]it's taken out so someone came to the Imam someone came to
[52:03]his companions he said to him he's got an arrow in his
[52:07]body when's the best time to take it out if it was
[52:10]me I'll say Baba put anesthetic in me right now and take
[52:14]the thing out if they said when's the best time to get
[52:17]the arrow out and that's only got stuck and the reply was
[52:21]take it out while he's praying he doesn't feel anything except the
[52:25]existence of his Lord why because he was just saying Arabic words
[52:30]no no no no no he was thinking of the words he
[52:34]was saying he mastered the prayer at a certain time he wore
[52:39]his best clothes he was perfumed and he made sure that he
[52:43]was fresh and then from there the person came someone said this
[52:46]is ridiculous you take out an arrow from a human because this
[52:48]guy was concentrating on Salah Yusuf of his Beauty in ABI Yusuf
[52:54]walked into a room one day ladies had knives in their hands
[53:01]they cut themselves while looking at his Beauty did they feel the
[53:06]cut no so if these ladies cannot feel the cut from yusuf's
[53:09]Beauty and his love for Allah [Applause] that's on the one hand
[53:19]on the other hand where was his second greatest moment in Salah
[53:22]when Allah decided I will answer people's Dua through Mosque of Medina
[53:31]rates a poor man was walking around the mosque people give me
[53:38]something I'm poor I'm poor I'm poor what was he doing and
[53:41]the Dua of the oppressed is answered by Allah but you know
[53:47]the beautiful thing about us as humans is when Allah uses us
[53:50]to answer peoples to us when someone comes and tells you can
[53:55]you give me a donation don't look at them in a way
[53:57]as if it's a negative thing say thank you maybe Allah was
[54:01]using me to give that this man went round then he read
[54:08]Allah I've come to the mosque of your prophets in Medina I've
[54:13]asked for some charity no one's given me he says the man
[54:16]turned around at that moment that man turned around he is move
[54:23]his finger in his Roku and he had a ring on at
[54:27]that time he said at that moment that man walked towards the
[54:32]ring he took the ring and he walked away he says turned
[54:35]around to us and said he just came to me and said
[54:41]to me Allah saw a poor man in the mosque in Medina
[54:45]that poor man had asked for some Dua to be answered Allah
[54:54]for Salah is the Mirage of the men and he is meaning
[55:04]that if you pray properly you pray decently you pray with discipline
[55:08]Allah will play sir in your heart that nor was Ali I
[55:14]inspire you to put your finger out rasulullah said Allah revealed to
[55:19]be the Ayah who Allah is your Welly number one we all
[55:26]agree we know that that way of Allah the authority and guardianship
[55:33]he gives to the rasool but now does it stop at the
[55:39]rasool well and those who believe by can't be all of the
[55:42]people who believe [Applause] but then on that day in Medina puts
[56:06]out his neck to say that this neck this head is ready
[56:10]to be given for the religion of Islam because of that love
[56:13]Allah inspired him to become give a ring away that ring became
[56:19]a symbol for the will I of debit [Applause] do you know
[56:30]the Ayah after it is to me I like it even more
[56:34]than this one the Ayah after why are you ready most people
[56:41]on member only quote 555.
[56:45]you all know it they forget to quote 556.
[56:52]555 says Allah the prophets and the one who gave away his
[56:58]ring in record we agree they are the Wellies Allah the prophet
[57:04]and the one who gave away his ring in 556 told the
[57:13]Muslims something yet whoever takes Allah as his Welly and the prophets
[57:25]and the messenger and those who believe born surely the party of
[57:35]Allah are the Victorious question [Music] if Islam was only about to
[57:45]Hayden nobua why do I also have to have the allegiance to
[57:48]willia as well in this Ayah come with me on the Ayah
[57:56]whoever takes Allah okay I take Allah as my guardian most Muslims
[58:03]will say you see that's Islam no no you're right that's Islam
[58:07]you get to Iman that's the difference [Applause] say to them if
[58:30]there is nothing after rasulullah that requires my obedience then why in
[58:36]556 Allah himself says whoever takes me the rasool and those who
[58:41]believe as their Wellies then they become the party of Allah therefore
[58:48]the second greatest incident was where was in his urukur the third
[58:52]one on a night like this in his night is the most
[58:59]difficult night for Al Muhammad No Doubt but for him he believed
[59:05]it was the night where he became victorious in the eyes of
[59:09]Allah this night he had made clear like every night and the
[59:15]holy month of Ramadan never did in his life ever Miss Salah
[59:22]biggest lesson you want to take from me tonight Ali never miss
[59:28]Fajr take that from me and if they love Ali then they'll
[59:33]remember it was Fajr that cost him his life but he will
[59:39]say it was Federal that made me happy that night yes because
[59:45]no doubt there was a movement there at that time that they
[59:48]needed to get rid of him on his head he already had
[59:54]an injury an injury that was there when on the top of
[60:03]his head there was an injury there that remained for a long
[60:06]time on this night only Allah knows the heart of zainab and
[60:13]her sister and the Heart of Imam al-hasan and Imam al-hussein this
[60:19]was a night that broke the hearts of not just Muhammad Allah
[60:24]the people of cool for one by one all of them were
[60:26]used to the best thing you could ever be used to in
[60:30]life behind Imam I ask one thing on this night while I
[60:40]do this Ya Allah I want one day to have the honor
[60:43]of praying behind in Jamaica the Imam of my time the way
[60:49]they had the chance with the Imam of their time but Ya
[60:52]Allah I pray that when I pray behind the Imam of my
[60:57]time I'll stop the Eben muljims of that time and I'll try
[61:02]my hardest to defend the Imam of my time Imam Bid Farewell
[61:05]to his children on a night like this he and of course
[61:12]how basic it was subhanallah how basic the Surah was that when
[61:20]he was offered bread and salt and yogurt he turned around to
[61:23]his daughter he said when have you known your father to have
[61:25]such a grand meal Allah none will ever come none we can
[61:35]try to learn from him but there is nothing the like of
[61:42]but like any father it's difficult to Bid Farewell to your loved
[61:46]ones yes how difficult is it for a father to turn around
[61:49]and see Hassan and Hussein he began to look out into the
[61:56]sky and he began to look out into the animals even that
[61:59]were outside of his house imagine you even hear the geese or
[62:03]the Ducks outside and you could see there is some sort of
[62:06]movement but death for him he was never scared of death nobody
[62:12]is more aware of death when will there be a day where
[62:29]I become a martyr is there ever a day going to be
[62:30]like that take your hearts on A Night Like This on a
[62:35]night like this take your hearts to the land of cool for
[62:39]in the land of energy the hearts on this night those lovers
[62:47]of Emirates as he entered the Masjid of Kofa he would pray
[62:54]his maulah never missed his Nawa Philly and he would lead and
[62:59]he would be of the people going around his would be that
[63:01]he'd go around to everybody who was there amongst the people who
[63:06]he went to Abdullah was lying sleeping on the ground while he
[63:11]was sleeping on the ground he was sleeping what is called the
[63:15]sleep of shaytan because he was sleeping on his stomach he said
[63:19]do not sleep the sleep this is the sleep of shaytan even
[63:24]muljam of course had his dagger ready had his sword ready maula
[63:28]himself went towards his prayers he had finished with his with all
[63:35]he went towards his prayers this man who was born in the
[63:39]house of Allah could only die in the house of Allah the
[63:42]others of the Muslims they were all gathering together on this day
[63:47]but for zainab and consumed they were still at home on this
[63:50]day yes and they had not gone towards the mosque they were
[63:55]at home they were expecting their beloved to come back I wonder
[63:59]oh zainab how many times did you expect one of your beloved
[64:02]to come back to you yes and when you were younger you
[64:08]saw rasulullah died and you saw your mother father madai imagine zainab's
[64:13]Heart On A Night Like This the Emir got together the others
[64:20]were slowly Gathering Together the Emir went towards the Salah my duas
[64:28]are with you as I reside this and I asked for forgiveness
[64:34]from the Imam of my time Imam [Applause] about what I'm about
[64:41]to recite amironment [Applause] [Applause] on the top of his head at
[65:28]that moment [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] the pillars of the religion have been
[66:07]broken at this moment then what did he say continued and performance
[66:16][Applause] and this moment has been cut why has it been cutting
[66:26]the best has been killed by the worst of them the blood
[66:35]the blood came down from the head of the Imam he found
[66:43]himself where in the lap of Imam al-hussein this exchange all of
[66:50]you know I could recite it every year he found himself in
[66:53]the head of a woman who said he removed his head when
[66:58]he found his head Imam Al Hussain who tried to look after
[67:04]his fathers and his father at this moment said Hussain is that
[67:07]you Allah Allah picture the scene all of you how sane is
[67:12]that you he said to him yes Father it's me said today
[67:17]you have my head Hussein today you have my head one day
[67:29]one day [Applause] that is one of the saddest scenes imagine that
[67:39]scene Hussain looking at his father's bleed again but at least at
[67:43]least Imam Ali had someone holding his head was on a spear
[67:51]that day They Carried their father they were leaving the mosque on
[68:01]this night when they were leaving mola was limping slowly because the
[68:06]injury had cut him severely he was limping and limping and then
[68:12]when he was leaving getting closer to the house he said let
[68:18]me stand straight they said to him why father why why he
[68:21]said I see saying about the door come on I see I
[68:30]see saying about the door I don't want saying up to fall
[68:36]on the floor I don't want Zayn have to be shocked by
[68:41]what she seems how caring is this man you are injured you're
[68:49]bleeding you're limping but when he's coming near the house cannot take
[68:53]seeing saying I'm hurt when he's coming there right tells them hold
[68:59]me let me stand straight it's as if saying they're saying one
[69:04]poet says it's as if she broke down what was she saying
[69:11]it will never be the same it will never be the same
[69:22]now I see my father's head has been slain come on only
[69:26]Allah knows the hearts I'm saying of that night she saw her
[69:33]father's head with blood coming from it I ask you all one
[69:36]question if that caused pain for zainab seeing her father's head with
[69:41]blood from it and then how much pain seeing her brother's head
[69:48]being kicked around by the horses laughs on raise your hands my
