[34:06][Music] foreign [Music] in the return of our beloved 12th Imam a
[34:41]third final loud salawat [Music] tonight's talk by first and foremost congratulating
[34:56]all of our dear brothers and sisters on these auspicious events two
[34:59]very special births for us the birth of our holy prophet as
[35:05]well as our beloved sixth Imam secondly I'm very happy and honored
[35:18]to be here with the community and inshallah I hope that what
[35:21]is said tonight on the member is of benefit to our audience
[35:25]and to the speaker himself first and foremost the topic that we'll
[35:30]be discussing tonight in sha Allah is the topic that I have
[35:33]titled don't judge me a topic with regards to the concept of
[35:36]judgment within our communities let us begin our discussion from here the
[35:42]reality is the idea of being judged is a fundamental pillar of
[35:47]our faith out of the three pillars that makes someone a Muslim
[35:51]without any one of these three this individual cannot refer to himself
[35:57]as a Muslim you will find the belief in the day of
[36:00]judgment and this is a belief that not only us Muslims hold
[36:05]in fact you find in the Jewish faith there is a similar
[36:07]idea in the Christian faith there is a similar idea as well
[36:12]as maybe many other Divine ideologies or other faiths the idea that
[36:16]the human being is given a particular Lifetime and that he has
[36:20]the opportunity to choose between good or evil but at the end
[36:25]of the day he's going to be held accountable to his deeds
[36:27]and his actions are going to be displayed for Allah to be
[36:32]able to tell him whether he lived up to the standards or
[36:35]not this is the concept of judgment and of course within Islam
[36:40]the Quran talks about the day of judgment so often that you
[36:43]practically cannot go through a couple of pages of the Quran other
[36:48]other than coming across the concept of judgment in the Quran every
[36:53]time Allah refers to the Final Destination that you and I are
[36:57]headed towards this day of judgment the different titles that the Quran
[37:00]uses every time you will find the concept of judgment is built
[37:06]into these names sometimes Allah refers to that day as the day
[37:11]where everyone stands what does it mean that everyone is standing it
[37:15]means that everyone is going to be standing in front of Allah
[37:19]to be held accountable and to be judged sometimes the Quran refers
[37:24]to that day as the day where good and bad are separated
[37:28]from one another again denoting the idea of judgment sometimes Allah refers
[37:34]to that day asab the day where accounting is going to take
[37:40]place and therefore you find any of the many titles of the
[37:44]day of judgment that you look at the concept of judgment is
[37:48]always built into these titles this is all nice and wonderful there
[37:52]is no complexity as it relates to this portion of our discussion
[37:57]the complexity around the issue of judgment starts to begin when the
[38:01]judge is no longer Allah it is no longer one who is
[38:07]approaching the issue with Mercy with compassion with kindness it is no
[38:11]longer one who's approaching it with ultimate wisdom and knowledge like Allah
[38:16]does or has now the judgment is coming from a fellow human
[38:20]being now the judge is no longer a Rahman and a Rahim
[38:25]the judge is another human being with his limited knowledge with his
[38:29]limited compassion with his limited Mercy this is where the discussion starts
[38:34]to get a little bit complex and this becomes a little bit
[38:39]of a problem many of us have found ourselves sometimes in situations
[38:44]or found others in situations where you and I might do something
[38:47]wrong when someone comes to you and tells you about this wrong
[38:50]thing that you did you might use the following phrase with them
[38:55]you might say listen don't judge me you don't know the situation
[38:58]that I was in and sometimes when you use this phrase what
[39:01]you mean is you shouldn't think of what I did as something
[39:06]wrong sometimes what you are referring to is that they shouldn't speak
[39:09]to you from a moral high horse as if they never make
[39:14]mistakes themselves it is only you have made a mistake and you've
[39:17]only ever broken your promise to Allah and so on and so
[39:23]forth to add to the complexity of this topic you see this
[39:25]issue within our communities there are brothers and sisters who myself others
[39:30]might be a part of them who have shortcomings but then all
[39:33]of a sudden you see the community or sometimes individuals within a
[39:37]community will begin to judge this person so harshly that this person
[39:40]slowly feels like they have to isolate themselves more and more from
[39:47]the community and psychologists talk a lot about the effects of Shame
[39:52]and judgment in today's world if someone is dealing with a problem
[39:55]and they feel like if they were to share about the problem
[39:58]they would only be judged in a negative way psychologists will tell
[40:03]you this person will struggle even more to overcome the difficulty and
[40:08]the struggle that they were dealing with because now they have lost
[40:12]their support system now they have lost a community around them to
[40:15]be with them along this path this is therefore one extreme we
[40:20]have in our communities on the other hand we have another extreme
[40:23]and that is the extreme we see sometimes especially within our younger
[40:27]generation because this idea and concept is being pushed by the Western
[40:30]culture and that other extreme is the following no matter what this
[40:37]person does he doesn't give anyone the permission to make any moral
[40:41]judgment as it relates to his deeds there are Muslims who live
[40:44]life like this today they will undermine some of the most important
[40:47]practices within Islam and if you point to the action and the
[40:52]deed and you say what you're doing doesn't mesh with Islam they
[40:55]say you are being very judgmental in your approach you don't have
[40:59]the right to judge me so this person doesn't pray if you
[41:04]say it's important for you to pray and this is going to
[41:06]affect your relationship with God he says don't be judgmental be accepting
[41:09]be welcoming this person doesn't observe dress code if you were to
[41:14]tell him that the marsumin wanted you to observe dress code he
[41:18]or she will turn around and say don't be judgmental be accepting
[41:22]therefore you find two fundamental extremes within our communities where does Islam's
[41:31]opinion lie in between these two extremes is the topic that we
[41:34]will be delving into tonight inshallah and in order to do so
[41:36]we'll pose the following questions number one what does it mean when
[41:43]someone says don't judge me what are the different interpretations of this
[41:46]and in other words what are the different forms of judgments that
[41:50]we have towards another person number two where does Quran and Hadith
[41:54]make reference to the idea of judging others and have we ever
[42:00]been given permission to judge the Deeds or the character of another
[42:05]individual number three are we allowed to scorn and scold people for
[42:09]their mistakes and what did the teach us about a person who
[42:12]scorns or scolds other people because of the previous mistakes that they
[42:19]have made number four if Islam promotes an environment that is Judgment
[42:24]free does that mean in turn that Islam wants you and I
[42:27]to speak about our shortcomings and our mistakes and our sins openly
[42:30]and freely because the idea is that no one should judge me
[42:36]therefore I should feel comfortable to speak about my shortcomings my sins
[42:40]and my mistakes and number five and finally what conversation took place
[42:46]between Allah and his great prophet Prophet Musa in which Musa alaihissalam
[42:51]spoke to Allah and complained of others judging him and what answer
[42:59]and response did Allah present to this great prophet of his tonight
[43:04]inshallah we'll delve into these five questions nonsense [Music] let's begin from
[43:18]here when someone says don't judge me first and foremost we have
[43:21]to understand what is it that this person is even referring to
[43:25]we live in a world today where these small short icons or
[43:29]logos or slogans you can say these one-liners are used all the
[43:35]time half the time people use these one-liners they don't really know
[43:39]what's meant behind this one line so you'll find people they'll support
[43:42]an idea they'll support a slogan they'll support a hashtag but if
[43:46]you ask him what exactly is this hashtag saying what interpretation of
[43:50]this do you understand you will find going from one person to
[43:54]another person they have completely different understandings of what this hashtag is
[43:58]supposed to stand for what is it exactly that they are supporting
[44:03]so you'll see people they'll say yes we have to live in
[44:06]the moments yes so what does it mean live in the moments
[44:08]living in the moment if it means that you're not going to
[44:13]learn from the mistakes of your past you're not going to plan
[44:16]for the future well is some completely disagrees with you yes if
[44:20]your interpretation of living in the moment is that though you plan
[44:25]for the future but you have some worries you don't allow those
[44:29]worries and concerns to consume this present moment Islam would completely agree
[44:34]with you depending on the interpretation maybe Islam completely agrees with you
[44:39]maybe Islam completely disagrees with you it all depends it's not that
[44:43]simple sometimes people will say yes never change for anybody else be
[44:48]who you are okay so never change what do you mean does
[44:52]that mean you're going to hold on to your foundational values you're
[44:57]never going to change those for anybody else if this is the
[45:00]case Islam a hundred percent is on your side and agrees with
[45:02]you but if what you mean is you're going to come home
[45:06]and you're going to throw your socks in the corner and then
[45:10]when your wife says please this is the house yes you have
[45:12]to keep it clean you're going to say no I told everyone
[45:16]I'm never going to change for anybody well this is a recipe
[45:19]for disaster and recipe for problems that we see in marriages depending
[45:23]on your interpretation either Islam can completely agree with you or Islam
[45:28]can completely disagree with you but this is the world we live
[45:33]in it's a world where you don't take the time to explain
[45:35]what you mean you know there's some social media apps if you
[45:39]try to explain what you mean they'll limit you they'll say listen
[45:42]you have 50 characters 70 characters whatever the case is get the
[45:45]thought across if you will go beyond this we don't have time
[45:47]for it yes maybe you have to buy a subscription or something
[45:51]like that otherwise you can't go beyond this this is the world
[45:54]that we live in there for when someone says don't judge me
[45:59]what exactly do they mean by this there are three interpretations that
[46:02]generally we can understand from a statement like this the first of
[46:08]these interpretations the first form of judgment depending on the interpretation Islam
[46:12]might completely agree or completely disagree with us the first of those
[46:15]interpretations sometimes when someone says Don't Judge Me what they mean is
[46:22]you have no right to pass any moral judgment on what I
[46:26]did if I stole money from someone you don't have the right
[46:31]to pass judgment yes if I betrayed the trust of another person
[46:34]you can't pass judgment on this if I'm Muslim and I know
[46:39]I'm supposed to pray but I don't pray you don't have the
[46:40]right to pass judgment you can't say what I'm doing is good
[46:44]or bad no moral judgment you don't have the right to pass
[46:46]on it if I don't fast in the month of Ramadan yes
[46:50]when I'm supposed to be fasting yes I don't have any excuse
[46:54]or anything like that I know I'm supposed to be I don't
[46:56]fast you can't say what I'm doing is wrong you can't say
[47:00]what I'm doing doesn't mesh with Islam the first interpretation is you
[47:03]don't have any right to any form of moral Judgment of my
[47:06]Deeds this is the first of those interpretations the second of those
[47:09]interpretations is what is that listen you can judge my deed but
[47:15]you don't have permission to take some of my shortcomings and sins
[47:22]and because of that dismiss my character as a whole this is
[47:25]a different one yes the first one was the Judgment of Deeds
[47:30]the second one is what the judgment on the character of this
[47:33]individual what does that mean you can pass judgment that not praying
[47:35]for example is a bad thing but you can't sit there and
[47:40]say because I don't pray now I have no value in the
[47:42]eyes of Allah now there's no way for me to ever make
[47:46]it into heaven because I committed the sin now God doesn't care
[47:51]about me anymore now I don't have a place in the community
[47:53]anymore and so on and so forth this is interpretation number two
[47:57]interpretation number three this person says regardless of whether you pass judgment
[48:03]on me or not when I say don't judge me I mean
[48:07]don't speak to me with a judgmental tone don't speak to me
[48:11]as if I'm the only one who's ever made a mistake and
[48:14]you're perfect and you have no shortcomings and masha'allah you walk on
[48:19]the clouds this is the third interpretation depending on the interpretation we
[48:25]have to see does Islam agree does Islam disagree some of these
[48:29]Islam is a big proponent of some of these Islam has a
[48:31]major issue with and therefore in order to get into each of
[48:37]these and see which Islam agrees with which Islam disagrees with Allah
[48:48]as we go through these three the first and most important point
[48:52]we have to pay attention to is that if we ever say
[48:54]Islam has allowed you to pass judgment in this scenario or we
[48:59]say Islam has not allowed you to pass judgment in that scenario
[49:02]the fundamental principle to hold on to is this this is the
[49:06]one line I want you to remember you can only pass judgment
[49:11]on an issue when God has already passed judgment on that issue
[49:14]you are never the judge even when Islam says you can pass
[49:20]judgment in a particular situation technically you're not the judge technically God
[49:28]has already passed judgment on this issue you're just conveying the message
[49:32]otherwise you're never in a position to pass judgment on anything this
[49:38]is the principle hold on to it let's go to the first
[49:39]one this person says I pray I don't pray it shouldn't make
[49:44]any difference for you I fast I don't fast shouldn't make any
[49:47]difference for you God forbid part of Haram relationships not Haram relationships
[49:51]it shouldn't make any difference for you you have no right to
[49:54]pass any moral judgment on any of my Deeds this first form
[49:59]of interpretation does Islam agree with this or does Islam disagree with
[50:03]this Islam a hundred and ten percent disagrees with this meaning what
[50:10]meaning in Islam it is impossible not to pass judgment on Deeds
[50:17]on the Deeds themselves character we're going to get to that's a
[50:22]separate discussion yes on the Deeds it's impossible you say how is
[50:26]that impossible because in Islam if you look at the religion itself
[50:29]the religion itself is made up of hundreds of moral judgments that's
[50:35]what the fabric of the religion even is in reality you and
[50:41]I already passed judgment on hundreds of Deeds as good deeds you
[50:44]and I already passed judgment on hundreds of Deeds as bad Deeds
[50:50]the moment you Embrace this faith the moment you said whatever the
[50:54]prophet says I'm going to agree with him whatever he says I
[50:58]believe in him that's the moment you already passed judgment on hundreds
[51:02]of Deeds as good and moral and hundreds of Deeds as what
[51:08]bad and immoral because the moment you Embrace this faith and said
[51:12]you believe in this messenger than if the messenger came and said
[51:15]if you don't pray that's a bad thing you already passed that
[51:18]moral judgment whether you like to admit it or you don't like
[51:21]to admit it whether you're sitting there and thinking to yourself no
[51:24]Sheikh I'm not a judgmental person or not doesn't matter the reality
[51:30]is the moment you Embrace this Faith you already made it a
[51:34]point that for example adultery is immoral now whether you go up
[51:39]to someone and you tell them that or not it's a separate
[51:40]discussion that's the outward expression of it but in reality you already
[51:46]passed judgment on this and in fact Islam will not even remain
[51:50]it cannot not even exist without a set of moral judgments in
[51:55]many ways that is what Islam even is at least a big
[52:00]portion of it it's the fabric of Islam this is number one
[52:04]therefore is it possible for me to not judge people in this
[52:07]area no it's not even possible for you because you're Muslim the
[52:11]moment you said muslim that means adultery Bad drinking bad that means
[52:16]praying very important if someone doesn't do it that's bad fasting if
[52:20]someone doesn't do it that all of this of course in the
[52:22]situation where the person doesn't have a valid reason yes and so
[52:27]on and so forth not only this not only is it okay
[52:29]for you to pass this form of judgment in reality it is
[52:33]wajib for you to pass this form of judgment where are you
[52:37]saying you know the Maharaja have a discussion on what it means
[52:42]to enjoin the good and forbid the evil yes when it comes
[52:48]to America they have different levels in the discussion the third level
[52:53]the fourth level is not the same as the first level when
[52:56]it comes they say before you get to those stages where now
[53:00]for example you have to actually stop this person from committing a
[53:03]sin so on and so forth there are lower levels of it
[53:07]the lower levels sometimes is approaching this person in a nice way
[53:10]and speaking to them believe it or not there is a level
[53:12]lower than that there is a level that comes even before that
[53:16]what is this level what else is there how am I injoining
[53:21]the good and forbidding the evil if I'm not even speaking to
[53:23]this person at all like how does that even work huh the
[53:29]most basic level that is he says obligatory precaution this is necessary
[53:36]for you to do is that whenever you come across someone doing
[53:41]something wrong deep down in your hearts you have to consider that
[53:47]deed a bad deed and you have to disassociate from that deed
[53:51]in your own hearts you're not a Believer if you come across
[53:56]someone doing something wrong and you look at it and deep down
[54:01]you think that's amazing that's great what a wonderful thing the very
[54:07]first step you have to take for Amber happens within yourself you
[54:12]have to disassociate from that within yourself now sometimes you have the
[54:15]opportunity to kindly and nicely you have the relationship with that person
[54:19]it's strong enough that you can approach them and tell them about
[54:24]a certain issues sometimes a relationship is not there so you leave
[54:26]that person live their own life everyone gets to live their own
[54:29]life they have free will they make their own decisions yes but
[54:34]that's a Next Level first level is this so I ask you
[54:36]when you want to say that deed is a bad deed isn't
[54:40]the fundamental qualification of that is that you are passing moral judgment
[54:43]on that deed how can you sit there and say this deed
[54:45]is bad when you haven't even passed moral judgment on it pass
[54:50]moral judgment on it and this brothers and sisters is becoming a
[54:55]problem in our communities especially with our younger generation why because they're
[55:00]being taught within the Western Community that deals with its own issues
[55:04]by the way that yes we have to be fully accepting we
[55:07]have to be welcoming don't ever say this is bad don't ever
[55:12]say this is wrong yes fully accepting one time I was on
[55:14]social media I saw this meme once yes the meme was what
[55:18]the man the person had posted a post he said listen even
[55:23]if that Jal came himself with one eye and on his forehead
[55:26]it says Cafe which some narrations of ours yes points towards he
[55:29]said there'll still be some Muslims who are so worried about being
[55:34]judgmental they will say no no let's not judge about that child
[55:37]yes we don't know who he is who are we to judge
[55:40]what do we know so on and so forth this is one
[55:42]extreme that we are heading towards now this person doesn't pray you
[55:47]don't have the right to ever tell me what I'm doing is
[55:52]wrong well where did you get this from this is not Islam
[55:54]your deed is wrong okay this is the first of the meanings
[55:59]of judgment let us move on to number two allowed salawat please
[56:08]number two the second meaning of judgment is what judging the character
[56:13]of this person so you look at the mistake that this person
[56:15]made and because of this mistake you take that and you judge
[56:21]their whole character by it so this person doesn't pray this person
[56:25]doesn't fast this person lacks dress code this person add whatever other
[56:29]shortcoming or mistake that you want to add you take that and
[56:33]you say you know what because of this you'll never make it
[56:37]into heaven because of this God doesn't care about you because of
[56:41]this you have no value in the eyes of God because of
[56:46]this fundamentally you're an evil person you're a terrible person this yes
[56:50]do we have permission to pass judgment like this on individuals the
[56:55]answer is this one unlike the first one Islam completely disagrees with
[57:02]it meaning what meaning you and I do not have the right
[57:06]and permission at all to pass judgment on the whole character of
[57:10]an individual yes there is one exception to this and when I
[57:15]go through the exception you'll see probably maybe never in your life
[57:18]will you come across this maybe you will maybe you won't but
[57:22]most people never come across this in their lives when is it
[57:24]that Islam has allowed for you and I to pass judgment on
[57:28]the whole character of an individual extremely rare situation when this person
[57:33]knew the truth about the faith and fundamentally rejected the faith he
[57:39]knew that Islam in the heart in they deep down in his
[57:44]heart he knew Islam is what he has to follow but out
[57:47]of arrogance what did he do he turned away from it the
[57:53]Quran says what the people of yes they turned away from it
[57:57]out of arrogance but they knew for sure that this message is
[58:02]true yes if you come across a person like that the Quran
[58:07]has already passed judgment on this individual the Quran has already said
[58:11]if you come across an individual like this and he dies in
[58:17]this state this person will not enter Heaven the Quran is very
[58:20]clear about this what does the Quran say this Surah number 8
[58:22]verse 40 the Quran says Those Who denied our signs was and
[58:32]they did so out of what out of arrogance not out of
[58:39]ignorance out of arrogance I ask you how often do you come
[58:42]across a person like this it's very rare yes maybe I immature
[58:47]the heads of evil in this world you can point to they
[58:52]fall under this category yes maybe from time to time maybe some
[58:55]a politician or something yes but the average person you come across
[58:58]can you put them into this you can't put them into this
[59:02]category yes denied our signs he did it out of kib as
[59:10]well what happens to this person the gates of the heaven will
[59:15]never open up to this person and then the Quran uses an
[59:21]analogy that you also have in the Bible use this analogy as
[59:26]well the Quran says you know this person will only ever make
[59:29]it into heaven if this impossible thing happens in other words he'll
[59:32]never make it into heaven yes this is what the Quran is
[59:35]saying so the Quran says and they will never enter into heaven
[59:39]unless what happens unless you can get the camel yes to pass
[59:48]through the thread of a needle and the eye of a needle
[59:52]if you can make that happen this guy will also what they'll
[59:57]also make it into heaven in other words impossible not happening this
[60:01]person you can pass judgment on his character if he dies in
[60:06]the state even while he's alive technically you don't know technically his
[60:12]life might continue he might change so even this person while he's
[60:16]alive you can't pass judgment on him this rare situation you come
[60:21]across even that you can't pass judgment on his character you have
[60:24]to wait until he leaves this world that's why the Quran says
[60:26]Ibrahim when he came to his uncle the Quran says ABI but
[60:31]we believe that this ABI refers to his uncle for multiple reasons
[60:34]says he used to do is Safar for his uncle when it
[60:40]was became clear to him that he is that he died in
[60:45]a state of disbelief then Ibrahim drew the line there and he
[60:48]said enough is enough while he was alive there was a chance
[60:51]for him to what to change things now he's already passed away
[60:57]Allah passed his judgment on this individual outside of this do you
[61:01]and I have the right to point to someone and say yeah
[61:05]you're right write them off yes oh you're a done deal this
[61:07]that you and I don't have this right this is the second
[61:13]meaning of judgment allowed salawat please foreign the third meaning of judgment
[61:21]this person says listen my issue is not you passing moral judgment
[61:24]on me just don't speak to me in a judgmental way are
[61:28]we allowed in Islam if someone has done something that is a
[61:31]sin are we allowed to scorn this person are we allowed to
[61:33]scold this person are we allowed to sit there and yell at
[61:39]this person sometimes people do wrong things other people around them turn
[61:43]around how dare you how could you what were you thinking what
[61:50]is this huh are we allowed to do this this third meaning
[61:52]of judgment again Islam has not given us permission to do so
[61:56]and hence you come across this beautiful narration from our beloved Prophets
[62:04][Music] the the term is a term you find in multiple narrations
[62:19]yes scolding someone scorning someone for a mistake that they've made especially
[62:24]if they're already regretting it especially if they know it's wrong especially
[62:28]if they say listen that was my past can we move on
[62:33]whoever scolds another believer because of a sin that he has done
[62:40]he will not die until he commits the same sin himself and
[62:46]in some narrations it says that sin or a sin worse than
[62:51]that sculpting people for their past mistakes is a scary thing yes
[63:00]you can sit down with someone and let them know that what
[63:03]they did was wrong if you have a close relationship with them
[63:06]not only can you do that you have to do that if
[63:11]your relationship can bear that yes if your relationship can watch I
[63:15]want you to repeat this can bear that don't go up to
[63:17]some random person oh brother come here let me tell you what
[63:21]you did wrong I saw you were praying come here come here
[63:25]you had 54 mistakes in your Salat please correct these 54 next
[63:31]time you come to the Masjid you have a relationship with this
[63:36]guy do you know him is your best friend no problem is
[63:38]he your best friend go tell your best friend no problem then
[63:41]your best friend will turn around be like yeah I know I
[63:43]have this issue you also have 50 issues as well so I'll
[63:47]come to the Masjid next time I'll fix it you fix those
[63:48]issues everything everyone walks home happy yes no problem but this person
[63:53]who doesn't have a relationship with you you go up to him
[63:57]and you put yourself in a situation as if you and I
[63:58]God forbid God forbid are like you know the scholars and the
[64:02]marsumin who when they spoke everyone would just see some animal yes
[64:05]everyone would just listen oh I told him what he did was
[64:11]wrong he didn't listen to me well who are you your relationship
[64:14]with this person is not anywhere close yes your husband your wife
[64:18]your child someone near and dear to your heart absolutely should you
[64:23]have those hard conversations with them absolutely really God expects it of
[64:28]you because your relationship can what can bear this but the one
[64:32]whose relationship can't bear this it doesn't help many times it makes
[64:34]things even worse yes this is part of the conditions of yes
[64:40]so this third meaning can I sit there and look at another
[64:44]person and say this person God doesn't care about that is why
[64:48]in the narrations we read that the sixth Imam said [Music] no
[64:55]no OK has narrated this in his book may Allah bless his
[65:04]soul he says that a Believer never comes across another person except
[65:09]that his default mindset is that this person is better than me
[65:13]so then the question that comes to mind is the question I
[65:17]always had reading these Hadith in high school and you know younger
[65:19]ages always thinking about this question that well what if he's doing
[65:23]wrong things what if I know for example I pray he doesn't
[65:27]pray what if I know for example I fast he doesn't fast
[65:30]what if I know he has bad luck what if I know
[65:33]this what if I know that so then what did the Imam
[65:38]say yes the Imam said and if I'm not mistaken the narration
[65:45]is from the Beloved Prophet Allah please the prophet said what the
[65:52]prophet said when you're in that situation where you see this person
[65:55]is doing something wrong he said he should say this to himself
[66:01]that oh Allah maybe the good parts of his character are hidden
[66:05]and the bad parts of his character is what I'm seeing right
[66:11]now you don't know this guy who maybe for example doesn't fast
[66:16]is God happy with him not fasting no absolutely not you can
[66:22]pass judgment on the Deep no problem you have to but how
[66:25]do you know the sacrifices this person might have made for tens
[66:30]of other people you don't know this he said when you come
[66:33]across this person you should say what oh Allah maybe his bad
[66:37]side is showing right now and maybe his good side is hidden
[66:40]while my good side is apparent and my bad side is what
[66:46]it is hidden yes therefore this third form of judgment Islam has
[66:50]not given you and I permission at all that is why the
[66:54]verse of the Quran that we started out with at the very
[66:56]beginning what did it say he said go and tell my servants
[67:01]when they speak to someone else tell them to pick and choose
[67:08]the best possible way to communicate why the best possible way why
[67:13]not just a good way upon because shaytan's not going to just
[67:18]sit there idle if you use a word that can be understood
[67:21]in a good way good way or a bad way guess what
[67:23]shaytan is going to do he's gonna go whisper in his ears
[67:26]that you know what he meant he meant the other one not
[67:29]this one is after you guys your Lord knows you better if
[67:47]he wants to show Mercy to you he will do so or
[67:51]if he wants to hold you accountable for the sins that you've
[67:56]done technically he can do that he has that right yes we
[68:05]didn't make you in charge of everybody people have their own rights
[68:10]people have their free will yes if your relationship with them works
[68:14]you have to tell them no doubt about it but at the
[68:17]end of the day this guy wants to listen he doesn't want
[68:20]to listen whatever he wants to do that's up to him he
[68:21]has free will God's not going to come ask you and I
[68:25]about what other people did therefore this judgment is not allowed in
[68:31]Islam now if someone comes around and says wonderful Sheikh I love
[68:35]this I love this talk about no judgment a judgment-free Zone yes
[68:40]we should therefore be able to speak about our sins openly I
[68:45]committed this sin so I should be able to talk about it
[68:48]openly because no one's supposed to pass judgment on me yeah no
[68:51]one's supposed to say anything to my face this also is what
[68:57]Islam doesn't want Islam says if you see someone doing something wrong
[69:01]you shouldn't pass judgment on their character but Islam also says to
[69:05]that person who's doing that wrong thing at least don't do it
[69:08]in public go hide it go do it in the corner of
[69:13]your house go do it somewhere else don't bring it out into
[69:16]the public you should have a little bit of Shame between yourself
[69:22]and Allah yes shame with other people is a separate discussion Islam
[69:27]doesn't necessarily approve of that form of Shame you know what Islam
[69:32]does approve of the shame between yourself and Allah between yourself and
[69:36]have a little bit of Haya God's watching you so now you're
[69:41]committing this mistake and you're saying it's too difficult for you to
[69:45]drop this habit okay well at least don't do it in public
[69:49]it's a judgment-free zone no one should judge me no one's supposed
[69:51]to judge you but that same God who told everyone not to
[69:53]judge you also told you what not to speak openly of your
[69:59]mistakes and of your sins yes but the reality is judgments brothers
[70:02]and sisters is something all of us are going to deal with
[70:05]at one point or another at one point or another we're all
[70:10]going to feel judged in our lives what do I do when
[70:13]I feel judged in my life this is the last points that
[70:15]inshallah we're going to make tonight two points for one to keep
[70:17]in mind number one if you feel judged sometimes that is because
[70:25]you're opening up to people too much we live in a world
[70:29]of social media today people put everything out there for everyone to
[70:34]see well people don't have the capacity to digest why you do
[70:38]the things you do what's your intention what are you trying to
[70:41]get out of it what so what do people they assume things
[70:45]about you and you're naive enough to sit there and say no
[70:47]they shouldn't judge yes he shouldn't judge but shouldn't you be smart
[70:50]enough not to do this to protect yourself a little bit this
[70:54]is number one number two if I feel judged in my life
[70:59]we'll have to remember that this is a test from Allah there
[71:02]are many who will judge any one of us in any particular
[71:07]situation I wear this clothing I probably get judged every single day
[71:11]yes because there are people they come they see this person wearing
[71:14]this clothing maybe they have negative reactions in the past negative experiences
[71:18]in the past this that they say yeah he's like this he's
[71:22]like that they make judgments and you two in your own way
[71:23]you might be in a situation where other people make judgments about
[71:26]all of us at one point or another will be judged by
[71:31]the people around us this is one of the tests of Life
[71:35]yes and it was a test that even Musa alaihissalam was tested
[71:38]with in his own way so the conversation says and this is
[71:45]from Anwar that Musa one day spoke to Allah of the many
[71:48]that Musa had with Allah he said Ya Allah I need to
[71:54]ask you a favor this is of course my paraphrasing I have
[71:59]a hajja I have a request that I need to ask you
[72:00]responded to him yes Musa what is it he said Ya Allah
[72:06]my problem is I have done so much for these people but
[72:10]they still speak negatively of me they criticize me they assume terrible
[72:15]things about me yes when I'm not around they say this they
[72:20]say that they say this Musa he came to grab power he
[72:23]came to do this he came to do that they judge my
[72:25]intentions so on and so forth do something so that they only
[72:31]speak well about me what was the response that Allah gave him
[72:36]the response from Allah was the following he said Musa I will
[72:43]not do for you what I have not done for myself he
[72:47]said Musa I will not do for you what I have not
[72:52]done for myself I am God and people still speak negatively of
[73:00]me yes and people still judge my intentions people still criticize me
[73:03]yes isn't this true the moment our Dua isn't given exactly how
[73:08]we want it now we start to judge him yes oh he
[73:12]never cared about me anyways he never heard my draw anyways he
[73:17]left me to myself anyways everyone else is getting their hajja they're
[73:20]walking away anyways how come I don't have this I don't how
[73:22]come I don't have the narration said Musa I will not do
[73:25]for you what I haven't done for myself and then he turned
[73:31]to Musa Musa wouldn't you love to walk in my footsteps and
[73:35]do to ASI to me wouldn't it be better for you to
[73:41]be the way that I am that this test I put it
[73:44]in front of you and that you are pleased with what I've
[73:46]decided for you and Musa said Ya Allah I would rather do
[73:51]to see to you and I understand that this is the test
[73:54]of Allah we ask Allah that when we go through the tests
[74:01]of Life the difficulties of life people say things about us people
[74:05]judge us so on and so forth that he gives us the
[74:07]ability to understand that this is a test from Allah inshallah let's
[74:12]take a moment inshallah for a couple short draws first and foremost
[74:17]we ask Allah for the shafara of our beloved prophet and our
[74:22]sixth Imam on the day of judgment inshallah we ask Allah for
[74:25]all of those who have worked hard to make this majalis possible
[74:31]this Gathering possible that Allah blessed their lives in sha Allah we
[74:36]ask Allah that all of those who have hajjat they have requests
[74:38]there are things that they need that Allah grants them their hajjat
[74:42]and their requests inshanda and finally last but not least we ask
[74:50]Allah that he hastens the return of our beloved 12th Imam thank
