[0:00]Albany New York for the 10 days of as I don't know
[0:05]if you remember say jaur came here about three years ago spoke
[0:12]during the second half or first half of the month of Ramadan
[0:15]and we were very interested in Sam's lectures and his discussions and
[0:24]alhamd he is here one more time and we are honored to
[0:32]have him and let us welcome him with a loud upon muhamed
[0:39]perion please please and I have this I have this I'd rather
[0:53]have this one say is it on is it on uhuh okay
[0:59]okay so I will have this one Ya Allah my dear brothers
[1:10]and sisters it is my honor pleasure that I will be with
[1:21]such a beautiful wonderful faces all faces faces of Iman and belief
[1:25]and love of alhamdulillah that the Almighty have granted me this opportunity
[1:33]to be among you and today I promise you unlike any other
[1:36]speakers I would like to listen from you more than to talk
[1:41]to you but I will start with an introduction if you allow
[1:43]me after your big and loud salaatul [Music] if you can just
[2:29]keep the light closer sure sure historians narrate that to the events
[2:51]leading up to the revolution of ashur IM Hussein wrote letters to
[3:02]so many dignitaries and leaders and tribal leaders of Iraq of course
[3:10]with emissaries he sent several representatives and emissaries so probably the most
[3:17]famous of them is musl but then he had other ones as
[3:21]well so when he wrote to bunch of leaders in Bas to
[3:29]touch base with them see how is their reception how is their
[3:36]Readiness to accept and follow his cause and support him when he
[3:40]sent letters to those leaders one of those leaders his name was
[3:45]Al Mund was one of those bureaucratic aristocratic people what do I
[3:54]mean by that meaning that first of all he was someone who
[3:58]always wanted attention lived uh led a very comfortable life affluent life
[4:03]and was involved in the bureaucracy of the government before the time
[4:10]of IM Hussein in fact historians say that he was one of
[4:14]the assistants of Al who participated in a few battles among them
[4:24]was Battle of G and he used to govern certain parts of
[4:28]Persia at the time during the r of so IM Hussein wrote
[4:37]to him as well as to other leaders to tell them that
[4:42]I am ready to come and help you assist you and what
[4:46]is your feelings are you willing to show support and assistance so
[4:52]when this man received the letter of Imam Hussein which was in
[4:59]Bas and BAS used to be governed byah before he took over
[5:06]kufa as well so when he got the letter with the representative
[5:12]of Imam Hussein and his name wasan Rin he took both the
[5:22]letter andan and took them handed them over to zad telling him
[5:26]this is what I got from Imam Hussein and all could guess
[5:30]correctly what did zad do with the letter and with the Emissary
[5:38]of Imam Hussein he immediately beheaded the Emissary of Imam hussein.
[5:44]this incident speaks volume IM hussein.
[5:50]has rightly distinguished the sickness the ailment by which the nation have
[5:59]been engulfed with have been suffering with you see M was not
[6:04]an enemy of Imam Hussein in fact he loved Imam Hussein and
[6:11]he loved his father as well as others but why did he
[6:13]grab this poor man and handed him over to zad for probably
[6:19]one reason you can call it cowardice you may call it longing
[6:26]for a better position because he was a bureaucratic he was AR
[6:30]ratic he was searching for a better you know for improve Improvement
[6:35]for a better salary probably but all of those speaks of one
[6:41]big ailment and a problem and that is the loss of dignity
[6:49]loss of self-respect loss of self-belief in the leaders and of course
[6:56]this is a reflection of the society so the entire Muslim nation
[7:05]was suffering from this syndrome this big ailment loss of dignity and
[7:12]respect therefore you see Imam Hussein throughout his Revolution he kept reminding
[7:20]people over and over about this value this a principle dignity free
[7:27]conscience and freedom when you look at the throughout the story of
[7:33]the revolution of Imam Hussein you come to see so many values
[7:36]and principles that the Imam put into demonstrations for example fighting Injustice
[7:46]tyranny oppression striving for fairness for making a society a fair Society
[7:54]also value of Courage bravery value of sacrifice value of religious devotion
[8:04]and Devotion to the articles of Faith you see the IM on
[8:11]the eve of a when the camp ofar and his army wanted
[8:17]to attack the camp of Imam Hussein Imam Hussein asked them for
[8:22]one grace period that night for what reason he told AB Abbas
[8:29]that I love prayer so much let's you know spend the night
[8:39]with the prayers on the day of the battle started right after
[8:43]when he you know put them all at once the ranking officers
[8:49]and the you know the soldiers and then he divided them on
[8:53]the left side Left Flank and right flank and in the middle
[8:59]that was after right when it was one of his companions told
[9:04]him reminded him that it is time for the IM didn't tell
[9:10]him oh we are in the middle of the fight let's continue
[9:13]with the fight and then we will think about our prayers no
[9:21]this man was a defensing Imam was you know the safe was
[9:25]safeguarding the Imam until the Imam finished his prayers so these are
[9:29]a few values of Ash that we need to learn you know
[9:34]by the way I forgot to tell you about the topic probably
[9:38]you know the topic and that is you know living a husseini
[9:41]life how do we see husseini life through his values and the
[9:45]principles that he demonstrated in the revolution of as so there are
[9:52]so many values but probably the most important one that the IM
[9:57]has emphasized it was the of a human being therefore you see
[10:01]in his many repetitive rhetorics and slogans he mentioned this fact the
[10:10]one that I mentioned at the beginning death for me is happiness
[10:18]if it were with whom with the oppressors as long as I
[10:25]am living with those tyrants it is nothing but disgust humiliation in
[10:30]another one it says I don't give in like a submissive person
[10:44]nor I run away like a servant and a third one that
[10:50]was in the middle of the battle between IBN zad Army and
[10:57]Imam Hussein when he said this wicked son of wicked has anchored
[11:20]between two things either fight confrontation or disag Grace and far from
[11:28]us is disag Grace Allah would not allow it the prophet would
[11:32]not allow it that we live in disgrace meaning surrender you surrender
[11:37]to him and our nobility is so high that we don't allow
[11:47]submission to this wicked to the oppressors over the death of the
[11:53]abstaining Souls so the IM repeatedly have said not only him even
[11:58]those who followed him in the battle I have promised I have
[12:10]taken an oath that I don't die but a free no I
[12:14]don't like death I'm not after death I'm not a pro death
[12:19]but if I've been given between disag grace and living in dignity
[12:24]and respect no I would rather take the dignity and respect and
[12:28]die with honor IM Hussein even the enemy wanted to stir the
[12:37]spirit of a freedom of a free Spirits free conscientious in them
[12:41]at one time he called them if you don't believe in Allah
[12:50]don't believe in don't believe in anything but at least have a
[12:54]free conscience why so much emphasis on this Instinct on this value
[13:09]god-given value value of freedom and dignity because because this is how
[13:13]Allah subhah wa taala has has it created a human being we
[13:19]have an instinct that does not exist in any other living thing
[13:22]take for example the little kid the todler you see at early
[13:29]age he defend his Aton eny he fights against coion he always
[13:34]fight for his belongings his toys he doesn't allow others to touch
[13:38]them what does that tell you he's fighting for his dignity for
[13:44]his honor throughout the history always Nations revolutionaries fought for their own
[13:49]independence and freedom irreg of the price tag in regards of the
[13:58]high cost of seeking such kind of endeavor in fact a human
[14:01]being is the only creature the only living thing that God has
[14:05]created and has given him the Power of Choice tell him you
[14:13]choose you can follow me obey me or disobey me even angels
[14:22]don't have this Leisure of a freedom they are creatures that know
[14:28]nothing but obedience but why the IM is stressed on this fact
[14:44]because he have found an ailing Nation a nation that have been
[14:50]deprived and is suffering from loss of dignity loss of self-respect does
[14:59]not not have self-respect has lost it imagine a nation that just
[15:08]recently have been appraised by Allah Allah subhah wa ta'ala has appraised
[15:13]them due to their you know obeying the commands and teachings of
[15:18]the Prophet who have transformed them from a primitive backward Community to
[15:26]a nation that Allah attests to this fact and says you are
[15:33]among the best of Nations why because you're righteous you defend the
[15:41]fairness you defend the righteousness you prevent the vice all of a
[15:49]sudden people who were know nothing but fighting nadic primitive life the
[15:57]prophet have elevated them and elevated them they have conquered the entire
[16:01]region they Islam have spread everywhere just few years down the road
[16:11]they kill his grandson grandson this is a way to thank the
[16:15]prophet and tell him thank you Allah for all the good deeds
[16:19]that you have done to us we're going to kill your grandson
[16:21]you see there is a story all of you have heard that
[16:26]one day the prophet told his wife um Sal that um you
[16:31]know I'm going to rest a bit therefore don't allow anyone to
[16:37]bother to bother me and he goes into his private room as
[16:40]he was watching all of a sudden Imam Hussein interjects you know
[16:44]a kid at age of 3 4 years old he interject suddenly
[16:50]interject in the room before um Sal could catch him she leaves
[16:55]him for a while after a few minutes let's say after 30
[17:03]minutes or so as she sneaks through the door she see that
[17:06]Imam Hussein sitting on the chest of the Prophet while the prophet
[17:12]is laying you know in his bed and the prophet is cuddling
[17:18]him playing with him but at the same times he's weeping and
[17:21]crying weed profoundly um was so surprised Yol what's wrong I see
[17:31]you playing with the kid but at the same time you're weeping
[17:33]he said that an angel just came to me and told me
[17:39]do you love this little boy do you love him and I
[17:44]said of course I love him he said that your nation will
[17:46]kill him therefore I am weeping now one a scholar said that
[17:58]the prophet was not weeping for IM Hussein why because Imam Hussein
[18:02]was martyred and what is better than reaching the level of martyrdom
[18:15]they will be very happy in fact one narration of the Prophet
[18:21]says that whoever enters the paradise does not like to leave except
[18:25]Shahid Shahid says send me back over and over they say why
[18:28]he said because the way that Allah subhah wa taala and Mal
[18:33]have handled me at the time of my martyrdom I have enjoyed
[18:35]it so much let's repeat it again and over and O over
[18:40]again and the prophet tells his grandson Hussein just prior to his
[18:45]departure from Medina going to he told him you have a stature
[18:55]you have a state in the Upper Paradise that you will not
[19:01]receive it except with martyrdom so the prophet knew that he would
[19:04]be martyred and he wanted him to get to that elevated status
[19:07]therefore he was not crying for Hussein so for whom he was
[19:13]crying he was crying for this nation for this corrupt nation that
[19:18]after few years have turned away and turned their back to him
[19:25]not out of hatred to Hussein no many of them did not
[19:31]hate maybe only the handful of few benaya their assistants like even
[19:42]even who was the commander of the army he wept for IM
[19:47]Hussein on the day of Ash and they all history narrates that
[19:52]he was you know perplexed didn't know what to do should he
[19:57]go to fight Imam Hussein should he stay in his position but
[20:03]has promised him to take R you know the big city in
[20:10]Big Town in in Persia to be the governor of Ry he
[20:12]will say this is what I have been fighting for this is
[20:20]what is my desire should I come back again with the disgrace
[20:27]and humiliation of killing Imam Hussein so everybody had no you know
[20:35]no problem with Imam Hussein one poet had put it so beautifully
[20:38]when he met Imam Hussein on the way to kufa Imam Hussein
[20:44]told him how are the people of kufa and that was he
[20:51]told them they're with you inside deep down they're with you but
[20:58]the problem is that that was the problem of people that they
[21:03]have submitted to the will of IB zad why you see brothers
[21:09]and sisters this is what I'm trying to say probably this is
[21:12]the most important this is the take-home message when we lose our
[21:19]self- digity when we lose our self-respect something will happen to us
[21:23]the self digity the dignity and self-respect is like the immune system
[21:31]in a human body in any in anybody you know what does
[21:36]an immune system do immune system is the strongest line of defense
[21:42]against microbes pathogens bacteria viruses any foreign body that enters the body
[21:51]this mechanism of immune system fights it off defends the body so
[21:57]if the immune system is dead damaged what happens the body will
[22:05]be occupied by everything everything can occupy it all kind of pathogens
[22:09]all kind of viruses all kind of bacteria will occupy the body
[22:13]and kill the human being self self-respect and dignity and a freedom
[22:20]of conscience it is similar to the immune body immune system but
[22:26]not in a human body rather in the nation so when the
[22:32]nation loses that it will be receptive it will be susceptible to
[22:36]all kind of invasions cultural invasions political invasions economic invasions and even
[22:45]military invasions this is how unfortunately becomes the nation this is one
[22:52]message and now let's compare between our nation today and the nation
[22:55]14400 years ago don't you see the Striking similarity between don't you
[23:03]see that 1.7 billion Muslims today are staying idle like by standards
[23:11]feckless incompetent cannot do anything in the front of a bunch of
[23:19]zionists that have been destroying their fellow Muslims land killing Mass murdering
[23:27]and human Exterminating there brothers and sisters and they cannot do anything
[23:34]just watch it and those handful people who are defending those oppressed
[23:39]people are you know interestingly the followers of Imam Hussein those who
[23:49]have learned the message of abdah Hussein those who have heard his
[23:55]call and have heard his rhetorics and his slogans and they emulate
[24:01]ated him today I was reading the news 20 aircraft have bombarded
[24:09]the harbor of ala in Yemen 20 with those you know huge
[24:13]bombs each one of them is you know weighing about 2,000 hitting
[24:19]them back but did that do anything to their resolve no they're
[24:24]stay staying steadfast only handful of people I probably spoken more than
[24:33]what I should yes you know I promis myself to speak only
[24:35]15 minutes now it's 21 minute so I would like to hear
[24:41]from you brothers and sisters I am here to start this discussion
[24:44]and we will have one from the brothers and one from the
[24:47]sisters and because ladies first we will start from the ladies to
[24:51]hear about their points about the values of Ash of course it
[24:56]is not only limited to our time topic as we go farther
[25:01]toward the end of the you know discussion we can pick any
[25:04]topic but I would love to hear from both sides their take
[25:09]and their words of wisdom y sisters please and I will stand
[25:25]up if you don't mind do you have a microphone there well
[25:29]if you don't have any volunteer to speak then I'm going to
[25:32]you know ask somebody just a quick reminder the cafe is open
[25:39]until 12:00 [Music] a.m.
[25:46]any questions y sisters discussion not only questions some important point to
[25:56]say huh sister what's going on brother they're too shy they want
[26:07]the brothers to okay if that's their choice you know so we
[26:10]gave you the choice but you decided the brothers to start first
[26:12]okay please Brothers Ya Allah there was a talk today in Gaza
[26:19]they feel like uh what what's going on in Gaza it's exactly
[26:22]what's going on with IM husin the exact same feeling the exact
[26:28]same scenario the they have nobody to help them they are hopeless
[26:32]and people just watching where they're being murdered so now they're feeling
[26:37]exactly the talk in Gaza right now is exactly what happened in
[26:42]in ashur I heard it the other day and uh people actually
[26:46]start seeing the truth about what's going on absolutely ha Hussein you
[26:51]know both were under siege yes razza was under siege yes and
[26:57]Imam Hussein was under siege 14 10 days yes they cut them
[27:00]off water and food including food you know one things that you
[27:03]don't hear much about Camp of Imam Hussein they were hungry as
[27:09]well but according to Arab tradition it is not nice to say
[27:13]that I am hungry it is you know denigrating but thirst everybody
[27:17]can say that I am thirsty and they can seek water but
[27:21]for food no one would say hungry so they were hungry and
[27:27]they were thirsty at the same time when they k K they
[27:30]killed everyone the youth the adult the young the children the women
[27:37]the the boys the the elderly and the same thing happened in
[27:40]in you know so there are so many you know so many
[27:46]aspect that have striken similarity between yesterday's carala and today's R and
[27:53]most importantly IM husin was by himself you know only by few
[27:58]of his household members the other night I said it when I
[28:01]was in Albany I said Abdul mutalib who's the great grandfather of
[28:09]Imam hussein.
[28:08]had 10 children 10 boys only the children of Abu Talib and
[28:16]Abdullah the descendants of those two participated in the Battle of kbal
[28:23]what happened to the other eight one of them was ABAB is
[28:26]out of you know question send him but what happened to the
[28:31]other seven where were they where were Ben Abbas where were the
[28:35]children of Hamza where were the children of Zu and others you
[28:38]don't see anything except Imam Hussein and only about a 20 30
[28:43]of his household members and of course companions adding them all together
[28:47]probably 72 75 you know individual by himself and fought of an
[28:54]enemy as big as 35,000 soldiers ancestor we gave you one you
[28:59]know one opportunity so you think and meditate and come up with
[29:16]something y the question I just felt I please not okay can
[29:31]we hear you I can't hear you sister can you st yeah
[29:34]yeah now it's good yeah go ahead yeah yeah with with the
[29:40]microphone so I feel like it's not right to compare what's happening
[29:44]in to completely different but I feel like the people that don't
[29:49]believe whatever happened in carala can now have their eyes opened and
[29:52]be like you know maybe the stuff that is happening in actually
[29:55]happened but 10 times worse in no I made a point that
[30:01]uh yeah yeah no I was comparing themselves now to what happened
[30:05]in so the idea of what's going on in Gaza right now
[30:10]it's been discussed within Gaza people that we alone what exactly happen
[30:14]of course not a person the idea is that's [Music] what mashah
[30:23]thank you sister yeah I saw some some hands with yeah here
[30:27]yeah no I please because people in they also people in K
[30:34]they also they weren't buried and they were tortured and there's people
[30:38]in festine and concentration camps so I feel like there's a big
[30:42]similarity between that sure people in festine they were never buried they
[30:45]had no burials nothing sure well I I I agree with the
[30:51]sister that if we want to compare the details and the severity
[30:55]and magnitude and the Holiness of the person you see sometimes someone
[31:01]insults someone else beat him up it depends on the person that
[31:11]has been beaten up maybe he's a friend his colleague you know
[31:14]somebody that was raised with him all these years were together was
[31:18]it a big deal yes probably people will say no don't do
[31:22]this but eventually they are together they've been playing together and one
[31:27]attacked the other one sometimes times that person no is is is
[31:32]an adult a respected person in the community will the severity the
[31:38]the awfulness of this act would be worse sometimes the person no
[31:43]it's your father your mother would you attack them if somebody attacks
[31:51]his father or his mother then it is Unforgiven so we are
[31:55]not comparing every details of it but sure there are similar ities
[31:58]between what is going on today in Gaza and between what has
[32:04]happened in carala but of course the severity the magnitude the awfulness
[32:09]of the tragedy of kbal could not be matched by anything else
[32:12]by any other tragedy due to the fact that Imam Hussein was
[32:19]he was the master of the Youth of the paradise we can't
[32:24]compare him to anyone else the grandson of rasol Allah all have
[32:28]seen what the prophet did to him and to his brother Hassan
[32:34]therefore cannot be compared in the details but when we look at
[32:37]the similarity I see that b umay were great teachers and instructors
[32:41]for the Zionist they learned from them a lot how to you
[32:45]know to encounter their adversaries y now still is it your turn
[32:49]or their turn whose turn their turnam you mentioned their dignity a
[33:10]few times what is it what does it mean to be dignified
[33:12]what is dignity M and maybe the second part to that question
[33:17]is you also mentioned that the IM told them to be at
[33:19]least free in your world will that means you have to have
[33:24]a level of Consciousness whereas the vast majority of people including myself
[33:29]probably many other of us here we're just like bio machines we
[33:32]are programmed by a system by marketers by social media by Family
[33:36]by customs and very few of us even if we act appropriately
[33:42]do it consciously so how could we be conscious in our actions
[33:46]so we can actually own them so we're free in the way
[33:52]we practice and secondly what is it to be dignified MH thank
[34:00]you very much uh well I acknowledge that my words have so
[34:05]much deficiencies and without going back to dictionaries and checking uh you
[34:10]know looking up for the terminology dignified or dignity in my humble
[34:15]opinion and I could be of course wrong is that the proper
[34:20]place of a human being Allah subhah wa taala where did it
[34:24]place a human to be the almighty when it speaks about human
[34:29]says we have given them value we have given them dignity we
[34:34]have given them respect the status of a human rises above you
[34:42]know all those creatures that we know and then we call him
[34:48]that value should not be humiliated that status should not be you
[34:57]know denigrated sometimes I see someone very sacred and holy respectful respectful
[35:01]and respectable but then all of a sudden I see if few
[35:07]acts from him if you kind of you know things that I
[35:11]would say you know you're no longer having the same status that
[35:15]you know as as I used to hold a few you have
[35:23]brought yourself down that proper PL you know status that God has
[35:26]put us in that has told us you know be free of
[35:33]everything you know says don't be slave of anything sometimes we don't
[35:42]want to be enslaved by others but we enslave ourselves with the
[35:46]commanding soul with the you know low desires this is again another
[35:52]kind of enslavement I don't know if I answered your question and
[35:59]regard in being self-conscious especially in this part of the world or
[36:04]no even you know back in our homeland the modernity the age
[36:10]of modernity the age of uh you know uh as we the
[36:13]technology and how people are so much you know into make a
[36:20]living and how to gain more and more of of those uh
[36:26]you know wealth let's say be affluent make make your ends meet
[36:30]and things like that how would we survive I think every single
[36:38]one should act according to his own possibilities and what he can
[36:44]achieve but for sure we have a potential that we have not
[36:47]examined we have not tried yet I think that okay I am
[36:56]a simple employee in a company that is supporting for example the
[37:00]adversaries what can I do should I quit not necessarily you have
[37:04]to quit but you can talk you can convince with your rationality
[37:10]with your ability you can discuss the affairs with others tell them
[37:17]this is is this Justice how can you justify these acts are
[37:22]in those barbaric at any rate it doesn't have to be only
[37:27]in this fight between Gaza and the you know and their enemies
[37:30]anything you know hey John do you know Allah do you know
[37:36]God what kind of features he have what does he do don't
[37:38]we have any responsibility toward him don't we feel that he has
[37:45]certain rights that we need to accomplish and do and it start
[37:48]a conversation like that so I believe each one of H of
[37:53]us have a certain task responsibility and potential and Power you see
[38:00]if this man M have not killed have not submitted this person
[38:04]to zad zad had no idea would not kill him why did
[38:10]he do that thinking that maybe I zad will find out and
[38:14]then he will come after me then he will persecute me cause
[38:17]me trouble maybe by the way historians say you know I was
[38:20]reading his biography this guy M passed away in the mid of
[38:30]61 hij IM Hussein was martyred in the first month of so
[38:35]only lived after Imam Hussein 6 months only 6 months did that
[38:42]worth it did that worth that he purchased Janam for taking this
[38:46]Man Poor Man to the you know to the tan and kill
[38:51]him in order for him to live but he didn't sorry y
[38:58]sisters your turn yeah Mo a wireless okay great I can hear
[39:10]you yes go ahead um say I want to ask you like
[39:14]when they the the story in happened and they all started dying
[39:17]one after the other they like how did they like record All
[39:23]This and like sometimes there's IM Hussein and his sister by theirselves
[39:27]and who wrote everything about every single word that happened what she
[39:31]told and what he told her some people ask me that question
[39:33]it's very hard for me like every detail in the melis is
[39:38]said you know what she said what he said what did you
[39:42]know was it's hard for me to comprehend how every single detail
[39:45]was you know written sure what we have received from the Battle
[39:56]of ashur probably that are two main resources two main sources One
[40:04]Source that comes from who've watched this seen it lived with it
[40:11]and explained it the woman survived IM survived and after him IM
[40:17]who was only three or four years old also survived the battle
[40:22]so some of it comes from them they're the ones who explain
[40:29]what Imam Hussein for example the night before he went inside his
[40:32]tent and then Zab came to him then he started to eulogize
[40:35]himself then Zab cried then she said such and such he said
[40:40]such and such then the ansar gathered in front of the tent
[40:42]of Z Zab and they told her such and such stories that
[40:48]within the camp of Imam Hussein of course women were not witnessing
[40:52]everything in the battlefield they were you know mostly resorting in their
[40:57]tent and sitting you know in their shelter the other source it
[41:03]is the enemy the enemy has written that why the enemy does
[41:08]that it has been a tradition that always the Monarch the Khalifa
[41:13]The King send someone to corroborate everything everything possible he would cor
[41:21]write it down why because those commanders later on they will ask
[41:26]him for booties they want for example reward give me such and
[41:32]such I did such and such so these should be recorded therefore
[41:37]thead army orar army at least as far as I know could
[41:44]be more one of them wased Muslim or Hamed Muslim he was
[41:52]the narrator he would get close to the Army to the battle
[41:56]field and see the fighting and can hear them can see them
[42:03]whatever comes to his mind he writes them down of course did
[42:05]he have assistants probably probably he had assistant he collect them now
[42:09]how much of it is it true how much is it not
[42:14]a true this depends on the you know the scholars who go
[42:20]and review the battle and all the details of the battle see
[42:23]some of it really makes sense some of it doesn't make sense
[42:29]some of it is coming from the here we have as a
[42:31]principle you see when the enemy when the enemy admits that I
[42:38]am having such and such should we accept it or not you
[42:43]see if the enemy said that I have killed 1,000 people from
[42:46]the camp of Imam Hussein should we believe him no why because
[42:49]he's talking about himself as a showoff could be but when the
[42:55]enemy says oh I lost 1,000 people should we believe him or
[43:02]not rule of logic says yes because the anyone who you know
[43:06]is mindful would not say something against himself and lying about it
[43:12]to to hurt himself and lying unless he's saying something that is
[43:16]truthful so Muslim used to narrate that and of course he used
[43:22]to sell it to sell it to historians and I think the
[43:28]first first author of the story of IM Hussein his name was
[43:32]AB he wrote the whole story now some historians some Scholars they
[43:39]cast doubt on some area of it because they saw they say
[43:42]that some part of it was missing and others have added to
[43:49]that that's all left to the scholars to proof read it and
[43:51]and come up with with the right answer welcome y Brothers please
[44:01]public yes you have a microphone Wireless yeah go ahead so a
[44:09]lot of sun they bring up the fact that we beat ourselves
[44:14]a like either hit our on the chest or sometimes even with
[44:18]the chains with with the chains how would you recommend we um
[44:26]I guess have that I guess discussion with them how do we
[44:29]defend ourselves how do we say oh we're not sinning if that
[44:31]makes sense mhm well I would say when we are confronted with
[44:39]such kind of thing the first question let's talk about the wisdom
[44:44]of commemorating do they agree with commemorating or they do not agree
[44:48]with commemorating the legacy of Ash the Epic of Ash you see
[44:56]now we will talk talk about the details whether you know chest
[45:02]beating hitting with chains and other things are you know lawful or
[45:06]not lawful but the mere fact that people will sit down and
[45:09]mention the memory of Imam Hussein in a somber mood and then
[45:17]they eulogize him in a lamenting way is that acceptable or not
[45:21]acceptable we do not say it's alone it is most Scholars they
[45:28]mentioned that the prophet has recalled the event of Ash not once
[45:32]not at twice so many times and every time he wept and
[45:38]at one point he gave um Sal a sample of dust of
[45:44]a soil ofala and told her keep your eyes on it if
[45:50]it turns red bloody then it means that Hussein have been killed
[45:53]in the Battle of K why would the prophet what is the
[45:58]wisdom that the prophet keeps mentioning over and over again it has
[46:02]a philosophy it has a rationale it doesn't come up you know
[46:07]by itself the rationale simply put it is that we emulate the
[46:14]principles the values of fighting against oppression staying you know on the
[46:21]righteous path these are the things now comes the details when it
[46:24]comes to details of course there are are certain acts that Scholars
[46:30]say this is a traditional in any way conducive that you supress
[46:36]your sorrow your grief to the martyrdom of Imam Hussein without hurting
[46:43]yourself is acceptable is something that is very good and advisory unless
[46:50]you do not hurt yourself now this hurting self is of course
[46:57]subjective some is schol say Define to me what is you know
[47:00]hurting self well for example y used to weep and cry over
[47:09]Yousef until he lost his vision yob was a prophet he was
[47:12]not an ordinary person Yousef was a prophet and Yousef was alive
[47:18]and knew that he was alive he was not dead still he
[47:20]kept weeping and weeping until he saw Yousef why did he do
[47:27]that he used it as a stry if he had not cried
[47:31]for Yousef if he had not shown his grief and anguish toward
[47:34]Yousef youf never been have been found and been lost so y
[47:40]used it as a strategy conscious strategy in order to regain Yousef
[47:44]so this is one way now of course there are certain acts
[47:50]that are probably the majority of his Scholars don't agree with and
[47:54]you know the Sunni Brothers you know definitely they would not agree
[47:57]with they say this is not the way it is beating chess
[48:01]by itself is a traditional thing it is something that you supress
[48:06]sorrow any grief by itself it has no problem unless it gets
[48:12]to the point that it's considered to be you know a severe
[48:16]self uh you know uh hurting and that's another story that I
[48:19]have not seen such kind of thing I don't know if I
[48:24]answered your your question but sisters yes mashallah in the second and
[48:30]third row do you have a a mic for them or should
[48:36]I give them this y sister go with this theic the brothers
[48:39]are busy with the pizza go [Music] ahead I'm sorry was going
[48:49]to make an announcement so I gave him the microphone okay sure
[48:52]if you want to make announcement that's sure okay so we'll take
[48:56]the question then he will make the announcement then we willum it's
[49:08]a pleasure to be here it's first time meeting you so it's
[49:14]an honor it's my honor too you talking about the um effects
[49:18]ofal on our society today and one thing that came to mind
[49:25]is I come from a background that has different different sects of
[49:29]Islam who believe in different sects of Islam and I myself am
[49:36]um my nationality is Yemen so I do come from a very
[49:42]I guess I would say taboo to talk about Shia um one
[49:46]thing that stands out from being Shia yen is being um proactive
[49:53]during Asura and I get a lot of question questions from family
[49:59]and friends about why we're so dedicated to to Ashura and what
[50:04]stands out um during this time a lot of the time I
[50:13]do things um out of my love for for Imam Hussein but
[50:16]I don't know how to express it in words it's very hard
[50:22]when you're challenged by um your family about why you like act
[50:29]based off of your belief like why are you so like for
[50:34]example my parents have been out of town for for a week
[50:35]now and I had a comment from a family um relative that
[50:41]was like why are you attending the massal like your family is
[50:46]out of town like you don't even have to do that like
[50:51]what is pushing you at such a young age to be attending
[50:53]these madas and then I'm tested to like speak up about ashur
[51:00]and speak up about what it is to be Shia a family
[51:02]relative and also their Sunni and very religious and it makes it
[51:09]reminds me of like I guess when you're facing those challenges it
[51:13]reminds you of wow how blessed I am to have this belief
[51:19]and this love for Imam Hussein and for the tragedy that happened
[51:25]in Ashura and what a like an honor to be Shia what
[51:31]an honor to be a representative to even like the Y Community
[51:35]to to show that you don't have to be you know like
[51:41]I guess ask questions you don't have to be a follower of
[51:44]your parents or you don't have to be somebody who just is
[51:50]afraid of asking questions cuz I get that all the time like
[51:52]I don't want to ask any questions or offend you or anything
[51:56]like that so during this time I'm I'm reminded all the time
[52:02]and I and I love it so much when I have these
[52:03]like looks from my relatives and my friends like what what is
[52:09]so what is this passion behind Aura and I get these questions
[52:12]and it just like every year I just wait and I I'm
[52:17]so excited um the irony of the tragedy that happened but I'm
[52:20]so excited to every year be progress be progress Progressive I'm sorry
[52:28]um during this time and alhamdulillah I think I'm I'm trying to
[52:33]to do my best but of course again it's really hard to
[52:38]put into words the belief and the love that you have for
[52:43]IM Hussein um besides just the actions I just can't express it
[52:46]in words but that was that's what I like to say and
[52:49]alhamdulillah for this time alhamdulillah mashallah thank you I I will comment
[53:02]after s hayar make his announcement thank you sister s go ahead
[53:06]with the with your announcement and then so if we can have
[53:11]a five minute break just for them to grab some pizza but
[53:15]if you want answer this question and then we can start the
[53:18]break is it possible we go for another 10 12 minutes and
[53:22]then whoever would like to stay would stay in whoever would like
[53:24]to leave so we will have exactly 1 hour in in 12
[53:28]minutes we will have 1 hour is that possible still the food
[53:30]will be warm enough the f is ready okay well thank you
[53:35]so much sister I commend you for what you did especially when
[53:38]you know when the environment or the atmosphere that you live in
[53:43]is not very much you know Pro the same thing and then
[53:48]you have difficulty hard time to explain those things but as you
[53:52]said you know the movement of Imam Imam Hussein or we commemorate
[53:56]his memory is not only out of belief or intellect or because
[54:04]only Faith say do this and this definitely emotions play a major
[54:10]role definitely emotions you know uh what what we feel sometimes it
[54:14]is difficult to explain to express these feelings so others could understand
[54:20]us it is maybe impossible to the point but emotions also play
[54:28]a major role in our own religion and ideology you see ibraim
[54:33]when he took his family fromd from all the way from Jerusalem
[54:40]and brought them to Ka to his holy house what did he
[54:46]pray to Allah I brought my family my offsprings in this Barren
[54:59]Valley that doesn't have any kind of fertile land nothing no agriculture
[55:05]no you know nothing green all rocks and hot Valley he says
[55:19]some of those willing hearts come and sympathize with them fall for
[55:28]them love them cherish them this is emotion a total human emotion
[55:31]but this is an Immaculate emotion this emotion we consider it very
[55:38]clean and comes from the that Allah subhana wa tala has has
[55:47]placed there is an attraction to Holy individuals by any sex go
[55:52]to any Creed to any sex to any religion you see there
[55:58]holy figures people love him they they're drawn to him why because
[56:02]this is natural and the almighty have instructed his a prophet told
[56:07]his a prophet oh Prophet when you talk to your people and
[56:13]they want to reward you they want to compensate you don't take
[56:17]anything except one thing them show their love to your family what
[56:27]does mean not only you love rather you express your love and
[56:34]love is all emotion so maybe others do not understand you know
[56:39]what we're talking about you tell a four years old 5 years
[56:42]old kid the beauty of marriage they have no idea what is
[56:48]the beauty of marriage maybe now now a day maybe some some
[56:52]of those smart naughty kids they know everything but you know average
[56:58]on average they have no idea until they grow up until they
[57:01]reach the age of maturity they understand what marriage is the same
[57:05]thing we can say many of our adversaries they cannot feel it
[57:10]they don't know what happened to us on the eve of Ash
[57:13]when we hear you know the story of Imam Hussein the one
[57:18]that the prophet used to cherish and he collapses from his horse
[57:22]on the ground and all the blood his heart his forehead everywhere
[57:27]strikes upon strikes and he doesn't use any word to condemn them
[57:34]or to curse them rather he says isn't that compelling when we
[57:46]look at that I remember we had a friend still he still
[57:49]lives alhamdulillah and he's in California he said I had a friend
[57:56]of mine who was from Egypt and he said that we would
[58:02]listen to the story of the M of the martyrdom of Imam
[58:04]Hussein all the Arabs know the very single most famous person who
[58:12]recited this is she ABD that was you know back in the
[58:17]60s if you have not you know have seen it go to
[58:18]YouTube put his name very beautiful way for two hours complete without
[58:23]any mistakes without any Interruption without any you know trouble continued on
[58:28]a single you know Serene voice given the whole story so he
[58:35]said that the next day when I met this guy I told
[58:39]him you know tomorrow at that time there weren't YouTube or you
[58:42]know record so they would listen to the to radio Bagdad radio
[58:46]Bagdad would you know put that twice on the day of a
[58:51]he said next day when he came he could not hold of
[58:56]his tears every time he wanted to talk he would choke up
[58:58]I told him what's the matter did you hear the story did
[59:03]you listen to the story he said yes I did but there
[59:07]is one that I cannot explain something that is still I am
[59:10]so baffled what kind of a human they are a 6 months
[59:16]old baby so innocent so innocent they without giving him a single
[59:23]water they hit him with a aim at him with an and
[59:28]kill him in the lap of his father what kind of vicious
[59:30]animals they are so yes when of course when you carry the
[59:37]mission and you explain more to them and they get more and
[59:40]more familiar with the story of course every heart will be leaning
[59:44]toward them sorry took it too much y one question from the
[59:51]L from the gentlemen from the brothers and one from the ladies
[59:54]and we will come to an end y go go ahead Habibi
[59:58]yeah you're in the first [Music] row U I heard or I
[60:10]know but uh like tell me if I'm wrong so there's a
[60:16]mirac and head was cut off and they trying to take it
[60:17]to I think I'm sorry could you repeat that again what what
[60:22]im Hussein Alam did IM Hussein when they cut off his head
[60:27]they were taking it um taking uhuh they would hearr night right
[60:34]it's because it's a miracle there there is a narration that says
[60:37]that yeah so how come we don't hear him when we go
[60:43]is it cuz he's buried if we go to the shinein and
[60:47]what happens if we do like I know this wouldn't happen but
[60:49]I was just curious like if if somebody dug up and uh
[60:54]dug up in his Shrine will we we He Is We Ste
[60:59]Quran Amica well first of all thank you for this question beautiful
[61:03]question first of all let's see what is the wisdom of a
[61:04]a miracle why there is a miracle they miracle for what purpose
[61:11]Miracle you know I have to simplify everything don't go into too
[61:14]much details Miracle serves only one purpose only one purpose first of
[61:19]all mirica Miracle meaning it's an extraordinary act that defies the law
[61:25]and a principle of nature you know when someone is dead all
[61:30]of a sudden he stands up and he wakes up get resurrected
[61:32]it is against the laws of nature when when you know when
[61:39]we're dead we're dead we don't go back to life um you
[61:42]know something from from the bottom spontaneously jumps to the you know
[61:47]to the top you know without some energy pushing it up to
[61:52]the top something like that the python the the serpent that Moses
[61:57]used these are all considered to be extraordinary but they only serve
[62:02]one purpose that said nothing else and that to show that this
[62:07]person who owns this miracle is connected to Allah connected to the
[62:12]Creator why prophets are capable of doing miracles to show their people
[62:17]that we are not speaking of our own rather we are connected
[62:21]to the one who built this universe the one who built the
[62:25]universe also can divide defies the laws of this universe therefore we
[62:32]see Miracles so anytime that there is certain circumstances like this we
[62:37]say okay those people didn't accept Imam Hussein or didn't accept the
[62:41]message of the their Prophet or their messenger therefore their messenger has
[62:45]shown you know the miracle in order for them to accept it
[62:50]of course many of them don't accept still mush did you know
[62:54]the miracle of the Prophet was Quran to tell them here you
[62:57]want to challenge me bring me something similar to Quran they had
[62:59]difficulty doing so so there are narrations that the Imam did you
[63:06]know or or his head or something has happened with him that
[63:11]were extraordinary do we categorize it as a miracle or Grace of
[63:15]Allah that's another story because some say Miracle is only for you
[63:19]know prophets and Messengers but nonetheless Imam Hussein was was connected to
[63:25]Allah he was immaculate he was an infallible he was an Imam
[63:28]therefore he had to show at one point that he's not an
[63:34]ordinary person therefore narration said that at that time his head started
[63:39]to speak and they say he recited this Ayah it's a narration
[63:48]now we have to go dig further and see if you know
[63:53]the narration is correct or not that's you know that's another thing
[63:56]but by itself is that the Imam has said this to tell
[64:01]the masses that I have been killed innocently they unjustly without a
[64:06]just and I am capable of doing that now do we hear
[64:11]that or we do not hear that that in this physical world
[64:16]it is difficult to hear or it's impossible even if we we
[64:19]hear how can I claim that this is the voice of Imam
[64:23]Hussein nobody have heard the voice of Imam Hussein at that time
[64:26]why they thought this is the voice of because they recognized the
[64:28]voice of Imam Hussein they were with him so if the head
[64:33]talks and exert them voice they can tell this is similar to
[64:36]the voice of Imam Hussein after 1,400 years of Time how can
[64:42]we tell oh this is really was the voice of Imam Hussein
[64:45]there isn't but of course there are so many Graces again let's
[64:51]not call them miracles of Imam Hussein that you see this man
[64:55]is connected to Allah today millions of people at one time they
[65:01]go to his you know burial site without getting you know in
[65:05]trouble peacefully or you go for example to a stadium and look
[65:07]at see the you know how the the commotion that starts the
[65:13]traffic that afterward the you know the dirt that is left the
[65:16]garbage that is left in carala millions literally millions of people come
[65:20]and and and and visit the burial site and leave peacefully without
[65:27]any you know mentioning trouble even during Co time here I used
[65:31]to follow the news for example if there is a holiday let's
[65:34]say 4th of July or Labor Day or Veterans Day the next
[65:41]3 4 weeks afterward the numbers of covid patients would go up
[65:46]you know from 2,000 they become 3,000 then 5,000 then 10,000 then
[65:54]15,000 you know one week to two weeks in Iraq inala just
[66:00]the opposite happened so when the numbers published by the government would
[66:04]say there are 500 people you know have covid after the event
[66:09]of and the visit of the burial the number went down not
[66:14]not going up some would say wait may maybe this is the
[66:16]trick of the government maybe but we cannot you know see it
[66:23]we cannot verify it why because I am working in a hospital
[66:29]and I can see patients so today for example if the government
[66:33]announces there is 100 people have caught covid you know they have
[66:38]been catching covid on the same day when I check our records
[66:43]at the hospital we see that we had five patients 10 patients
[66:47]at least one tenth of what has been announced Even in our
[66:51]Hospital the numbers started to decrease and decrease we used to have
[66:55]100 people would come then after this 100 became 50 then 30
[67:01]then 40 then 20 started to what is this this all shown
[67:06]the grace of abdah Hussein the value of abdah Hussein one last
[67:12]question from the sisters or comments go ahead sister yes why do
[67:19]why that's what we should don't do I'm sorry I I why
[67:28]sunnis oh okay um why why our brothers Sunni Brothers um you
[67:34]know observe fasting on the day of Ash there are narrations that
[67:40]is written in their books I'm sorry that is written on in
[67:45]their books that says you know uh from the prophet that says
[67:50]that hold observe fasting uh on the day of Ash because he
[67:54]have seen the Jews in Medina doing that when he asked him
[67:59]why you do that they said that today was the day that
[68:02]you know MSA declared victory over Fon in one in another tradition
[68:08]it said that he you know became Victorious over the sorcerers third
[68:11]said it is the day that they he met his Lord in
[68:17]Mount Si and so forth so when the prophet asked him why
[68:20]you observing fasting they said because of that Ms observed fasting he
