[0:06][Music] in our last lesson we were still looking at the words
[0:59]that adam alaihissalam used in order to repent and we were shedding
[1:04]light on more traditions in shia and sunni sources regarding this topic
[1:11]so we shed light on a few traditions in shia sources and
[1:17]also a few traditions in sunni sources namely in the book uh
[1:24]tafsir and we saw that according to shia and sunni traditions used
[1:48]in order to repent we also mentioned if you remember that when
[1:57]sayoti mentions traditions in his book at durham thur he tells you
[2:05]that other scholars he tells you which scholar narrated this tradition and
[2:10]sometimes he mentions five or six or seven names of scholars who
[2:16]mention the same tradition which means that referring to a dural mentor
[2:21]is important when we look at mantur we're looking at a book
[2:26]that provides us with you know a good amount of information that
[2:29]sunni scholars in general that sunni scholars in general presented or and
[2:38]or accepted then we mentioned the gospel of barnabas if you remember
[2:50]we said that in that gospel uh rasulallah muhammad is mentioned by
[2:58]name and he's mentioned to be the messiah meaning the savior and
[3:02]the messenger of allah we read a tradition regarding adam which basically
[3:13]said that saw the name of rasulallah where did you see it
[3:21]the tradition or the text in the gospel of barnabas says the
[3:25]following it says whereupon adam turning him around saw written above the
[3:32]gate there is only one god and muhammad is messenger of god
[3:37]there's only one god and muhammad is messenger of god when we
[3:42]read that passage which is found in chapter 41 of the gospel
[3:49]of barnabas we realized that even in that gospel even according to
[3:55]the gospel of barnabas the issue of adam was related to rasulallah
[4:02]so it's not only shia and sunni traditions which tell you that
[4:07]adam's issue was related to the prophet no even in the gospel
[4:16]of barnabas we see a passage confirming that point today inshallah we
[4:22]want to look at another passage in the gospel of barnabas speaking
[4:28]about rasulallah this doesn't have to do with adam's topic specifically but
[4:32]since we mentioned that gospel i'd like to share this passage with
[4:37]you then we'll look at a tradition by imam regarding the gospels
[4:44]and why christians today have four gospels then we'll move on to
[4:49]a new verse if we have enough time we'll move on to
[4:52]a new verse regarding adam adam's story we still have maybe you
[5:00]know one or two or three verses to analyze regarding adam's story
[5:03]and then sha allah will start with a new topic in these
[5:10]quran classes so the passage i want to share with you is
[5:15]found in chapter 97 chapter 97 and it mentions basically words that
[5:24]islam said words that jesus christ said so barnabas says jesus answered
[5:30]the name of the messiah is admirable for god himself gained gave
[5:37]him the name when he had created his soul and placed it
[5:43]in a celestial splendor so he saddam is speaking about the prophet
[5:48]prophet muhammad and he's calling him the messiah which might be a
[5:52]bit weird for some people but the literal meaning of messiah is
[5:56]what the literal meaning of messiah is the savior someone who saves
[6:01]mankind and rasulullah was a savior he was a savior to mankind
[6:10]similarly was a savior during his time musa was a savior during
[6:16]his time so on so forth so it's not weird in reality
[6:20]to see isa alaihissalam calling rasulallah the messiah secondly he says that
[6:29]god himself gave him his name god himself gave rasulallah the name
[6:35]muhammad which is also confirmed in our traditions thirdly he says and
[6:43]placed it in a celestial splendor which indicates that allah azzawajal wrote
[6:49]the name of rasulallah somewhere in the skies or on the throne
[6:57]of god and that's also what our traditions confirm so when you
[7:04]read the gospel of barnabas you realize that there are there's an
[7:09]a significant amount of passages that perfectly with our traditions we need
[7:20]the traditions of not to say of course that everything barnabus mentions
[7:26]is correct no there are some you know passages that we don't
[7:31]uh accept because they contradict what the quran said or what but
[7:38]then again there are you know passages out there in his gospel
[7:44]that coincide perfectly with al-quran or and or the narrations of it
[7:54]so he says for god himself gave him the name when he
[8:01]had created his soul and placed it in a celestial splendor god
[8:05]said wait muhammad for thy sake i will to create paradise the
[8:13]world and a great multitude of creatures does this ring a bell
[8:18]it should this should remind you of hadith and what other hadith
[8:26]also mentioned our traditions mention that had it not been for ahlulbait
[8:31]allah wouldn't have created anything he wouldn't have created the sky nor
[8:38]the earth nor the moon nor the sun nor the galaxies nor
[8:42]me nor you nor adam nor eve so no one would have
[8:47]been created had it not been for salaam allah created the whole
[8:52]universe for their sake and here the gospel of barnabas is confirming
[8:57]this in regards to who to rasulullah specifically whereof i make thee
[9:09]a present in so much that whoso ever shall bless thee shall
[9:16]be blessed that whoso shall bless thee shall be blessed and whoso
[9:19]shall curse thee shall be accursed so allah is telling the prophet
[9:26]that that i'm going to make you a present to mankind when
[9:28]i send you you will be my gift that is sent to
[9:32]mankind such that whoever blesses you will be blessed by god but
[9:39]then again the person who curses you o muhammad he will be
[9:43]cursed by god quran says what on this regard that he only
[9:55]sent the prophet as a mercy to the worlds then again we
[10:00]have plenty of traditions speaking about salawat when you recite salawat when
[10:05]you ask allah to send his blessings upon muhammad and his progeny
[10:10]for example you say what happens allah wa'ta'ala sends blessings upon you
[10:20]for example we have one tradition saying that he whosoever performs salawat
[10:31]once allah azzawajal will bless him ten times and he who performs
[10:37]salawat ten times allah will bless him a hundred times and he
[10:40]who performs salawat a hundred times allah will bless him a thousand
[10:43]times blesses you multiple times then god tells him when i shall
[11:01]send thee into the world i shall send thee as my messenger
[11:05]of salvation and thy world shall be true in so much that
[11:13]heaven and earth shall fail but thy faith shall never fail so
[11:20]basically what the passage is saying here is that the message of
[11:27]rasulallah will be so true and so strong that it will continue
[11:32]to last it will continue to exist even after the destruction or
[11:38]the annihilation of the heaven meaning the skies and the earth here
[11:47]isa says muhammad is his blessed name then the crowd lifted up
[11:53]their voices saying o god send us thy messenger o muhammad come
[11:59]quickly for the salvation of the world so when they heard asalay
[12:04]salaam saying this they responded in a good manner and they said
[12:07]yeah muhammad come quickly because the world is in need of you
[12:14]again this is one passage in the gospel of barnabas we said
[12:19]last week if you remember that this gospel existed before the advent
[12:28]of rasulallah such that when you do a bit of research on
[12:32]this gospel you find that in year 492 there was a pope
[12:40]called gelasius who banned this gospel he told the christians that was
[12:44]forbidden upon them to read this specific book 492 rasulallah had not
[12:50]come to this world yet in year 492 for the prophet came
[12:55]according to people six hundred years after a usa saddam and according
[13:00]to 500 years after asa al-islam in both cases whether we accept
[13:05]this opinion or that opinion will come to the conclusion that rasulallah
[13:12]was not on this earth yet he wasn't in this world yet
[13:16]even then the gospel of barnabas was mentioning who rasulullah by name
[13:24]so if anything these passages actually uh strengthen the gospel of barnabas
[13:31]and show us by us i mean people in general not only
[13:34]muslims that there is you know an amount of passages the least
[13:42]we can say is there is an amount of passages in the
[13:46]gospel of barnabas that are true that are true and correct and
[13:52]that haven't been altered since we're mentioning the gospel of barnabas let's
[14:04]read a tradition by imam rita alaihi that sheds light on the
[14:10]bible in general and explains why today christians have four bibles meaning
[14:19]four gospels as you may know the the gospels that the christians
[14:24]accept today are the gospel of john matthew mark and luke allah
[14:31]descended one book upon isa alaihissalam one injil one bible so how
[14:39]did how did it become four gospels when you have four gospels
[14:46]this means there's there are contradictions or differences at least between these
[14:53]gospels there are differences for if they were exactly the same why
[14:57]would they be four they'd only be one correct so the presence
[15:00]of four gospels indicates that there are differences amongst the gospels and
[15:05]when you read them you'll see that yes there are contradictions or
[15:14]differences so the question is what led the christians to having four
[15:21]gospels or let's say four bibles when the bible was one book
[15:26]brought down upon isa alaihissalam according to the holy quran this was
[15:33]the first word he said when he defended mary's purity has he
[15:41]said i am the slave of allah al-kitab he has given me
[15:47]the book and he has made me a prophet so it was
[15:51]one book what made it or turned it into four books let's
[15:59]read the uh narration of imam this narration by the way is
[16:07]part of the lengthy debate imam alaihi salaam had with the um
[16:15]jewish christian jewish and christian scholars and with other scholars from other
[16:22]faiths faiths as well if you remember we mentioned that a debate
[16:28]with multiple scholars from different religions in the presence of and we
[16:36]read part of that debate in the biography of the prophet class
[16:40]we saw what imam al-assad is to the jewish scholar regarding miracles
[16:47]and rewarding tawato so today we want to read a passage from
[16:51]that lengthy debate regarding the bible the tradition says again you can
[16:59]find it in the book can you inform me about the first
[17:33]bible what happened when you lost it and where did you find
[17:42]it with who did you find it and who wrote the current
[17:47]bible for you meaning who wrote the four gospels that the christians
[17:56]believe in during imam times the christians the christians had the four
[18:02]bibles or the four gospels the gospel of john luke mark and
[18:07]matthew so this is the imam's question being a christian scholar said
[18:16]what he said he said we only lost the bible for one
[18:26]day meaning throughout christian history from the days of isa alayhi salaam
[18:31]and up until today meaning the days of imam salam i'm speaking
[18:37]on behalf of from the days of isa until today we only
[18:42]lost the bible for a day and then we found alhamdulillah and
[18:47]it was in a good condition we found it it was still
[18:54]soft it was in a good condition then what happened he says
[19:00]at that point john and matthew they came forth and having found
[19:09]the bible they presented the bible to who to the average christian
[19:12]so they presented the bible to the christians in general in he
[19:28]said your knowledge is poor regarding the history of the bible and
[19:34]its scholars so the imam is to agree with al-jafliq on that
[19:40]answer he's telling him your answer is incorrect that's not what happened
[19:45]so what happened the imam said he said sorry before we look
[19:53]at what happened he says he told him if if that actually
[20:05]happened as in you only lost the bible for a day and
[20:07]then you found it and matthew and john came forth and presented
[20:14]the bible to the general to the the general public then why
[20:19]is it that you differ today on the bible as in you
[20:24]have different versions of the bible you told him that basically today
[20:46]you christians uh differ on what is the actual bible as in
[20:52]when you have four different bibles or gospels the presence of four
[21:00]different bibles or gospels is a proof that they're unsure which one
[21:05]is the authentic or original gospel that was brought down upon isa
[21:12]they're unsure about this so the imam tells him that if you
[21:21]had preserved the original bible if you had preserved it and that
[21:27]bible was passed down from generation to generation then today you wouldn't
[21:34]have different bibles or gospels then he said however i will tell
[21:43]you what happened he doesn't know that when the first bible was
[21:57]lost the christians came to their scholars and they said to their
[22:03]scholars the following words let me just copy and paste the tradition
[22:10]for you so we can read it together has been killed and
[22:33]we've lost the bible you are our scholars so what should we
[22:38]do what should we do at this moment here we need to
[22:42]make a comment regarding their first word they say isa has been
[22:47]killed we need to understand that some people thought that had been
[22:56]killed that isa was crucified but but the reality is what as
[23:02]the quran says they didn't kill him what happened like in some
[23:08]the person who was crucified was a person whom they thought was
[23:14]isa he resembled asa but it wasn't him the real isa the
[23:19]real jesus was saved by allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala and was lifted to
[23:28]the skies and he shall return once reappears in order to support
[23:35]sahib zaman so he wasn't killed nor was he crucified who was
[23:42]the person on the cross according to a tradition by imam salaam
[23:46]allah if you remember i mentioned this to you before it was
[23:51]a young man who voluntarily um who basically voluntarily wanted to be
[24:03]a sacrifice for isa salam in better terms it was a young
[24:09]man who accepted to sacrifice himself in order to save isa's life
[24:15]according to the gospel of barnabas it was judith who is judith
[24:21]who he was the companion of isa salam who backstabbed him he
[24:29]told asa's enemies where isa was and as a punishment from god
[24:32]subhanahu wata'ala allah azzawajal made them believe that judith himself was asa
[24:37]so they took judith and they crucified him long story short bottom
[24:44]line is what the bottom line is it wasn't isa who was
[24:47]crucified even then some people during um during that time or after
[24:56]isabella bit ali believed that he was killed now this doesn't mean
[25:03]that every single christian had that belief on the contrary for isa
[25:11]had successors the first of them was simon peter the successors of
[25:17]asa definitely knew the truth the successors of isa definitely knew that
[25:22]isa wasn't crucified so we can we can firmly say that not
[25:32]all christians even during isa's time or after asa's eradi salaam believed
[25:38]in the crucifixion but so basically when they lost the bible they
[25:48]came to their scholars they needed help from the scholars so what
[25:52]happened the imam says [Music] and mark they told the people don't
[26:13]worry we've memorized the bible we have it memorized so insha'allah we're
[26:21]going to recite the bible for you one chapter after the other
[26:27]every sunday every sunday will sit down and will recite the chapters
[26:33]of the bible one chapter after the other [Music] so do not
[26:42]grieve and do not abandon the churches as in don't stop coming
[26:46]to the churches don't become you know disbelievers maintain they said for
[27:05]certainly we shall recite the bible um in front of you every
[27:14]sunday will recite all of its chapters one chapter after the other
[27:17]until we ensure that the whole bible has been compiled then what
[27:29]happened imam said [Music] when you the four individuals john luke mark
[27:48]and matthew they came forth and they recited the bible to the
[27:56]christians because all four of them recited the bible each one was
[28:01]reciting what he knew from the bible what happened the bible turned
[28:07]into what four different bibles four different gospels that's what happened the
[28:16]question is who are these people who are they the imam he
[28:29]tells him these says people were the students of the students of
[28:36]the first generation of christians so these weren't people in the first
[28:40]generation they weren't people who met isa alaihissalam they were the students
[28:48]of the students of what of the first generation of christians and
[28:54]when you look at the history of the bible when you do
[28:58]some research about this topic christians admit that none of the gospels
[29:02]they have today were written during jesus time ali none of the
[29:08]gospels whether we're talking about john or luke or mark or matthew
[29:12]all those gospels were written after a salih salaam by an x
[29:17]amount of years by and by an amount of years so these
[29:26]were who again these were the students of the students of the
[29:33]first generation of christians do you know the truth behind the bible
[29:42]and what happened when it was lost he told him i did
[29:52]not know this issue and it is apparent to me that you
[30:04]have a good amount of knowledge regarding the bible look at this
[30:17]important word he tells the imam salam i've heard the things you
[30:26]said i've heard the things you said and i've witnessed part of
[30:29]what you know and my heart meaning my soul has testified that
[30:34]what you said was true remember al-jafliq didn't know what imam was
[30:40]mentioning previously he had no knowledge regarding those specific events even then
[30:46]he tells the imam when you were talking my heart was testifying
[30:51]that yes saying is true and that happens sometimes subhanallah it happens
[30:59]when you hear when you hear a word of truth or multiple
[31:06]words of truth sometimes you you feel a sense of certainty telling
[31:15]you that these words are true because of you because of your
[31:29]words i was able to enhance my understanding to a great degree
[31:42]this is only a glimpse of their knowledge and this is only
[31:50]a glimpse of how sahabis will will will you know debate with
[31:57]the christians or the jews or any individual who differs with him
[32:02]in faith after his reappearance may we live to see those days
[32:09]one sahabi clarifies for the world that truth lies with muhammad and
[32:16]the rest of god's prophets and successors do we have a question
[32:39]before we move on going back to adam we want to shed
[33:10]light today on uh on verse 36 of surat al-baqarah why specifically
[33:23]this verse because it mentions how allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala told adam and
[33:29]eve to descend from the garden we've mentioned main incidents up until
[33:35]now regarding what happened in the garden we've mentioned adam's word in
[33:42]the garden adam's word out of the garden meaning when he came
[33:45]to this world how he repented so now the last piece of
[33:52]the puzzle that we want to look at is uh allah's word
[33:59]subhanallah regarding the descent of adam and eve so the verse says
[34:14]but the shaitaan made them both fall from it meaning the garden
[34:18]and caused them to depart from that state in which they were
[34:22]we shed light on that part of the verse so we don't
[34:26]need to repeat today this is the new part that we need
[34:34]to understand and we said get forth some of you being the
[34:44]enemies of others and there's for you in the earth an abode
[34:52]and a provision for a time when we read this segment of
[35:00]the verse um multiple questions come to mind firstly who is allah
[35:06]addressing when he says come down some of you will be enemies
[35:18]to others or some of you are enemies to others who is
[35:21]he addressing here we have multiple opinions mentioned in the books of
[35:29]tessier i'll share some opinions with you and the snake the snake
[35:48]what snake this is the snake that is shaipan used in order
[35:53]to hide from adam alaihissalam and at the same time whisper to
[35:58]adam salam if you remember we mentioned tradition by imam al-askari hid
[36:07]himself in the um in in a snake and particularly close to
[36:14]the snake's mouth or in its mouth when it was talking when
[36:19]he was talking to adam so there was a snake present and
[36:32]even the snake that iblis used should come down from the garden
[36:39]and go to where go to earth this is one opinion based
[36:53]on this opinion based on this opinion when allah says some of
[37:02]you will be enemies to others what he's saying is that adam
[37:10]and eve and their progenies will be enemies to who to shaytan
[37:14]and his progeny and vice versa similarly the snake the snake and
[37:22]its progeny will be enemies to who to adam and eve and
[37:30]their progeny as you know stakes are quite dangerous right and they
[37:34]can kill you sometimes they attack you so the verse here based
[37:40]on this opinion when it says it is confirming that there is
[37:47]enmity between shaitaan between the devil and his progeny and human beings
[37:57]and it's also confirming that there's enmity between the snake and human
[38:06]beings or let's say snakes in general and human beings a second
[38:23]opinion says that allah was addressing adam and eve that's the second
[38:32]opinion a third opinion says what it says allah was addressing adam
[38:39]and eve only so when he says he's only speaking to adam
[38:49]and eve here the question is but adam and eve are two
[38:54]people they're two people if you want to address two people and
[38:57]tell them come down you you'd say used to address at least
[39:07]three people three or more so the answer is based on this
[39:12]opinion of course allah is addressing adam and eve primarily and he's
[39:20]also addressing who their progenies because where are uh the rest of
[39:28]mankind where is the rest of mankind they're in adam ali they're
[39:33]still in a slob once adam and eve come down from their
[39:39]garden to earth the sons and daughters of adam will start emerging
[39:47]into into existence in this world so we were all in adam
[39:53]in his soul was addressing all of us adam eve and the
[40:05]progeny of adam telling us come down go down from the garden
[40:14]to earth based on this opinion when allah says what's he saying
[40:20]if he's only addressing human beings adam even their progenies what's he
[40:25]saying he's saying that some humans will be enemies to other humans
[40:31]and that is also correct that is also correct some of us
[40:38]follow the truth others follow what falsehood and as a result enmity
[40:47]is what created the people of truth are enemies to the people
[40:52]of falsehood and the people of falsehood are enemies to the people
[40:55]of truth of course the people of truth aren't at fault it's
[40:59]their duty to be enemies towards who towards the people of falsehood
[41:03]but the people of falsehood they're at fault because they're supposed to
[41:09]be following the path of truth take the example of who was
[41:18]at fault yes on a day of judgment he will be an
[41:25]enemy takabe but this was because of what kabil did this was
[41:32]because of kabil's envy and what his envy led to which was
[41:37]murdering here we need to remember that the same applies to a
[41:51]shaytan regime shaitaan is an enemy to us yes and we're also
[41:55]an enemy to him but who's at fault he's at fault essentially
[42:02]didn't do anything to shaitan it was a shaytan regime who felt
[42:08]arrogant from day one and who envied adam alaihissalam and as a
[42:14]result considered adam and his progeny to be his enemies we didn't
[42:18]do anything to him right we took him as an enemy because
[42:22]he took us as an enemy and he tried to mislead us
[42:28]tries to mislead us and will continue trying to mislead us until
[42:34]his death alahillah so we're not at fault rather he is at
[42:38]fault here we remember a beautiful hadith by imam basically explains why
[42:56]it cannot be in agreement with ali abhi sufyan the progeny of
[43:02]abu sufyan who are basically from banu umayya let me share the
[43:06]tradition with you you can find it in the book mahani just
[43:19]give me one second so i can send you the hadith he
[43:39]says he says we and the household of abu sufyans of of
[43:54]abi sufyan's progeny we are uh afonsori he says we and abu
[44:01]sufyan's progeny are two households that considered each household to be its
[44:08]enemy why he says because of allah subhanahu wa the reason we
[44:15]consider them to be enemies and the reason they consider us to
[44:21]be enemies is what our belief and their belief in allah he
[44:27]says we said allah is truthful what allah says is the truth
[44:36]and they said the exact opposite they said allah has lied so
