[0:05]ald [Music] in our last lesson before we took the the break
[0:50]for faia we were looking at narrations from that speak about uh
[0:59]Allah subhana wa tala and the mention uh the results that would
[1:08]have taken place had Allah subhana wa TAA been like us when
[1:11]we say been like us we mean had he been like us
[1:15]we mean um if Allah subhana wa tala had an origin as
[1:17]in he came from something else or something came from him what
[1:24]would have happened the Traditions mentioned uh multiple points that we shed
[1:29]light on on this was all before what led us here is
[1:37]the verse in which says explains indicates that Allah subhana tala did
[1:48]not come from anything and nothing comes out of Allah subhanahu wa
[1:53]taala yes he creates his Creations but the creations of God are
[1:57]not part of him they don't come out of him subhah wa
[2:04]ta'ala rather he wishes to bring them into existence and that's it
[2:09]they're created by the almighty subhanahu wa ta'ala I believe there was
[2:17]one last narration that we did not read perhaps we read it
[2:20]but again there's no harm in uh repetition after we read it
[2:26]inah and explain it we'll shed light on the last verse and
[2:31]in by the end of the session today we'll have completed the
[2:37]the explanation of our next Surah will be because as we will
[2:43]realize these two suras are related and we realize from the narrations
[2:49]of that uh there are there's a significant amount of salawat significant
[2:57]amount of prayers um when you do these prayers tell you to
[3:02]recite and in in the prayer which seem which means that there
[3:07]is some sort of connection between and and so the narration we're
[3:14]going to read right now is also found in going to send
[3:23]it to you right now it's not allowing to select okay I'm
[3:39]going to send you a bunch of a Hadith the last one
[3:42]will be the Hadith that I that we want to shed light
[3:46]on okay the IM says again perhaps we read it before the
[4:03]F but there's no harm in reading it again and explaining it
[4:07]he says Allah subhana meaning nothing came out of Allah he has
[4:11]no children and nothing comes out of God nothing physically comes out
[4:18]of God for example because he's not physical um and again as
[4:24]we said when he creates his creation is not literally coming out
[4:31]of God subhah Waal so he says one proof that confirms that
[4:42]Allah subhana that Allah has no children and nothing came out of
[4:46]him is that the child resembles his father right the child resembles
[4:54]his father as in when you have a parent and the parent
[4:57]has a child there will be uh a degree of resemblance between
[5:04]the two but Allah subhana wa tal has no likes says Allah
[5:10]has absolutely no likes which means that he has no children well
[5:21]he says Allah subh which means Allah did not come out of
[5:26]something else did not originate from something else which means he has
[5:32]no parents had he come out of something else if Allah had
[5:42]a parent then also he would resemble his parents he would resemble
[5:47]those from whom he originated but again as we said Allah has
[5:52]no likes he has no matches so by simply understanding as if
[6:00]im is telling us by simply understanding uh that Allah subhanahu wa
[6:05]ta'ala has no likes you can understand that he has no parents
[6:11]and has no children and Allah subhana wa ta'ala has no matches
[6:28]amongst his Creations so none of his Creations are like him none
[6:36]of his Creations are a match for God here the Imam says
[6:46]that Allah's Allah subh or say Allah's reality is far different than
[6:52]the reality or the realities of his uh Creations his traits are
[6:59]much different than our traits why am I saying much different because
[7:05]the IM said so his traits are different than ours in fact
[7:12]there's a huge difference between the traits of God and our traits
[7:38]next Allah says in the translation for this verse is nor has
[7:48]he any equal in Shak translation he says and none is like
[7:53]him none is like Allah subhanahu wa taala so what do the
[8:01]MU what do the interpreters of the Quran say on this regard
[8:04]they say the verse is confirming that Allah subh has no matches
[8:13]that nothing is similar to Godel so Allah has no matches or
[8:23]likes in his Essence no matches or likes in his attributes and
[8:26]no matches or likes in his actions that's an important point to
[8:37]keep in mind so the essence of God meaning God himself is
[8:41]completely unique absolutely unique all right what about his traits well his
[8:46]traits are his Essence right who I knew that we say in
[8:52]the science of beliefs which means that his own existence is his
[8:59]own knowledge his knowledge know is his power his power is his
[9:03]life for example and his life is his own existence there there
[9:09]is no difference between between these attributes of God we say Allah
[9:15]tal is knowledgeable right when we say he's knowledgeable Allah is not
[9:20]one thing and his knowledge is something else no no he is
[9:23]his own knowledge for me and you you're one thing and your
[9:29]knowledge is something else I'm one thing and my knowledge is something
[9:34]else for example a baby is born the baby's name is jaar
[9:38]all right when Jafar is born he has what no knowledge zero
[9:44]knowledge yes he knows a few things that are part of his
[9:46]what part of his human nature or human instinct but he doesn't
[9:52]know for example the alphabet he doesn't know Arabic grammar he doesn't
[9:58]know uh let's say the history of Canada these Sciences are later
[10:05]on absorbed by him because he's taught these Sciences right so the
[10:11]when when when jaar grows up and he learns and then becomes
[10:19]a scholar or becomes a scientist is he the same jaf right
[10:24]he is the he is he's not why not but is his
[10:37]is his reality the same I think is he the same person
[10:41]he is right he's the same person he his traits changed but
[10:49]his own Essence is still the same because the know uh you're
[11:00]going to laugh at my statement if we say that then we're
[11:04]going to say the essence of his Essence is still the same
[11:07]right so there's something in right there's a core part in the
[11:13]human being that doesn't change even though his traits might change right
[11:18]one day Jafar is ignorant as we said and then you know
[11:24]he learns and he becomes a a a great scholar he's still
[11:28]the same jaf in what sense in the sense that he'll he'll
[11:31]he'll tell you about himself I'm the person who was born in
[11:37]let's say 1950 I'm the person who went to this school that
[11:40]school I learned these Sciences these were my teachers and I went
[11:44]through all of this process until I became knowledgeable so his knowledge
[11:51]is what one thing his Essence is something else J the same
[11:56]applies to any other trait that we hold methan one day uh
[12:05]someone is stingy methan you have someone called Z right Z he's
[12:11]stingy he doesn't like to give and he maintains that habit for
[12:18]10 20 years then something happens in his life which changes him
[12:22]and that that same Z becomes generous he starts giving he starts
[12:26]giving you know food money helping people sacrificing his time is that
[12:32]the same Z yes it's the same Z one day he was
[12:35]singi one day he what he became generous all right Shan one
[12:44]day was amongst the angels and he was worshiping Allah subhana wa
[12:48]tala he was he was good he was righteous he wasn't a
[12:53]bad person or a bad uh Jin he's a Jin then he
[12:57]changed and he disobeyed all and he became the devil is it
[13:02]the same individual who became the devil it is right so the
[13:12]the the evil is the that was one day good we're giving
[13:18]these examples to understand that for us human beings or for us
[13:27]creations of God we we our our Essences are different than than
[13:30]our traits your trait is one thing but your essence is something
[13:37]else with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala it's it's uh it's different Allah's
[13:42]traits Allah's attributes are his assets we say God is knowledgeable you
[13:46]might think okay so we have something called Allah and then knowledge
[13:50]is what attached to God no no no no he is his
[13:56]own knowledge all right Allah is powerful you might think you have
[14:02]something called Allah and then you have power no he is his
[14:09]own power all right Allah is says he is what you're all
[14:16]living so you might think Allah is one thing and his life
[14:21]is something else no his life is his own Essence his Essence
[14:24]is his power his power is his uh uh knowledge yes there
[14:29]there's one point that we have to understand which is a bit
[14:32]tricky we have created knowledge created Power created life and then you
[14:40]have the light and the knowledge and the power of the Creator
[14:43]himself those are different J right now I have power so one
[14:50]might tell me all right so you have power we have power
[14:52]and you're saying Allah tal is his own power so we're Allah
[14:57]no no no no wrong this power that we have have is
[14:59]created by God and it's given to us by God so it's
[15:05]it's what it's a created type of power or a created form
[15:10]of power when we say Allah is his own power that power
[15:13]is beyond my and your understanding because it's his Essence from the
[15:20]power of the Creator the created Power is brought into existence make
[15:26]sense also when we talk about knowledge we have to understand there's
[15:32]knowledge which is created and then you have the knowledge of Allah
[15:34]subhanahu wa tala I said this before but I'll say it again
[15:36]because it's necessary to repeat these these Concepts uh when we read
[15:44]mean any books that contain knowledge we read Quran we read Hadith
[15:48]we read history books math books science books Etc you're reading what
[15:53]knowledge this knowledge was which is going through your brain which is
[15:58]entering your brain is not Allah one might say you know what
[16:03]I I learned uh I learned math you know I read math
[16:07]now I became God no no you're not God okay whatever you
[16:10]learn that knowledge that went through your mind or your brain is
[16:13]created knowledge the knowledge of Allah subhana wa tala is his own
[16:21]Essence and from it comes all from it come all forms of
[16:26]created knowledge the same applies to life you're alive are you sure
[16:33]yes I'm sure I'm alive all right we're alive our life is
[16:37]what created life his life is what he's alive as well but
[16:44]his life is the life of the creator has no beginning it's
[16:50]uh magnificent amazing mindblowing uh mindblowing uh life because it has no
[17:02]beginning and has no end and death cannot mix with that kind
[17:05]of Life subhah waala all right so our created life comes from
[17:16]where from Allah's life not in the sense that we literally come
[17:20]out of him no no in the sense that he created that
[17:24]that that life he made it so when the verse says the
[17:33]verse is telling you Allah has no matches in essence he has
[17:40]no matches in traits as we said earlier even the traits that
[17:45]the Creations can hold uh even the traits that Allah has which
[17:52]we can hold to our own degree there's a big difference between
[17:55]these traits that we hold and the traits that Allah holds so
[18:02]for example with Mercy Allah T is what merciful and I can
[18:06]be merciful Allah T is generous and I can be generous Allah
[18:09]tal is kind and I can be kind even though I can
[18:13]be or I am merciful and kind and generous Allah's Mercy is
[18:21]much greater than mine Allah's kindness Allah's generosity is much greater than
[18:27]mine such that you can't even compare the two to one another
[18:36]last but not least Allah's actions are also unique he has no
[18:45]matches in actions what do you think that means no matches in
[18:54]actions but can we elaborate what can we understand from that no
[19:04]one can do what Allah does capacity is I unless he gives
[19:24]you permission unless he gives that power right what is it in
[19:32]that scenario still indirect s exactly exactly so we're saying he has
[19:39]no likes in action in the sense that Allah has absolute freedom
[19:48]complete freedom to do whatever he wants the only being who has
[19:54]absolute freedom is Allah any other being in existence even let's go
[20:01]to the top even they don't have absolute freedom but how can
[20:08]you say that you say it because are creations of God they
[20:13]are God's slaves they can only do what Allah permits them to
[20:22]do now if someone believes that were given were given and we
[20:32]do believe in that right we believe that Allah gave them the
[20:38]power to manipulate the segments of this universe with his with with
[20:42]his permission subhana wa tala they can only do that if Allah
[20:45]allows them to do it it's like the angel of death he
[20:54]has the power to take a person's soul so he has the
[20:56]power to make us die even if even if I'm not sick
[21:02]yes even if you're not sick even if I don't go through
[21:04]an accident even if someone does not kill me Mal mod can
[21:08]simply pull my soul out of my body yes he has that
[21:10]power but that power has been given to him by God number
[21:16]one and M cannot remove one person's soul from his body unless
[21:22]Allah gives him permission so unless it's the time for that person
[21:25]to die unless the time for that person's death arrives Mal cannot
[21:32]remove your soul from your body because he has no permission makes
[21:36]sense so here what do we find we find that is able
[21:42]to do something that Allah is able to do because Allah says
[21:46]in the Quran Allah collects or completely collects The Souls of the
[21:54]people at the time of death when the time of death of
[21:56]those Souls arrives but then he also says say that the angel
[22:12]of death he takes your souls tell them that the angel of
[22:15]death takes your souls so Quran Quran is telling you Allah subhana
[22:18]tala can do and can also do right hence one might say
[22:26]look see the the Quran is telling you that the angel of
[22:30]that is at Allah's level wrong it's a big difference cannot work
[22:36]without Allah's power Allah has to give him the power to pull
[22:39]out the souls and he cannot do anything without Allah's permission but
[22:46]Allah doesn't need anyone's permission to do anything that's why we said
[22:51]he has absolute freedom he doesn't need anyone's assistance and doesn't need
[22:59]anyone's permission he's all powerful and as the Quran says he does
[23:07]what he Wills yes like a totality all of his attributes right
[23:30]right where say like uh the traits of man you can only
[23:33]be so many things at once and also do the traits of
[23:36]man have to be like Quantified in a way like say if
[23:40]I say oh I'm I'm merciful well your last like well like
[23:43]give an example you know I mean I'm I'm I'm a like
[23:48]a charitable person it's something you have to quantify can't just like
[23:53]say it right where the laws traits are Eternal they exist like
[23:57]yeah they exist within a to and his actions too whereas like
[24:03]um like you can only do so many things at once as
[24:05]well whereas the law can act within the entire totality okay so
[24:18]that's a comment not a question right just making making a comment
[24:24]yeah uhhuh so you're saying that basically whatever traits we we hold
[24:34]are limited they're not uh uh traits Without Limits and these these
[24:40]traits all come from God as in had it not been for
[24:46]God we wouldn't possess the traits that we possess that's what that's
[24:50]what you're saying correct we're talking of course here about the good
[25:01]traits that human beings hold as for bad traits those we can
[25:05]talk about in a different discussion they're also created but the human
[25:11]being chooses the human being chooses to uh to be evil the
[25:20]human being chooses to hold or maintain bad traits nonetheless they have
[25:26]their own discussion which I don't want to get into to right
[25:30]now because it's going to take us um lead us to a
[25:35]deep topic which we'll need uh a what amount of time to
[25:37]um cover J so we were saying that Allah Allah subhana wa
[25:45]taala Allah's actions are what are also unique he has no matches
[25:52]when it comes to actions because as we said the only being
[25:54]that has absolute freedom is God any other being any other being
[26:02]that can perform an action number one needs power from Allah subhana
[26:09]wa tala to perform that action number two he needs permission from
[26:14]God by permission we mean allowance Allah has to allow him to
[26:18]actually do that action if he doesn't allow him it's not it's
[26:23]not going to happen make sense so for example when I want
[26:29]to perform Salah when I want to perform Salah I need power
[26:32]from Allah to perform the Salah secondly I need allowance he has
[26:37]to allow me if Allah decrees he's not going to do this
[26:43]but suppose he decrees that he will not allow people to pray
[26:48]we won't be able to pray every time we try to pray
[26:51]something will happen and we won we won't be able to do
[26:56]it make sense one very clear example on this regard is m
[26:58]Alam Pharaoh had a plan Allah had a plan Pharaoh's plan was
[27:04]to get rid of M Alam hence based on our Traditions he
[27:10]killed thousands of babies from B is Thousands to get rid of
[27:14]the real mban who would grow up and terminate Pharaoh that was
[27:18]Pharaoh's plan Allah subhana T had a plan which was that MSA
[27:24]is going to come into this world he's going to grow up
[27:26]and then when he grows up he will terminate Pharaoh Allah wanted
[27:31]to show Pharaoh his power and wanted to show us his power
[27:39]so he sent M to Pharaoh himself and Ms ended up living
[27:41]in the Mansion or the Palace of pharaoh then he grew up
[27:47]and Subhan Allah MSA terminated Pharaoh so when Allah subhana wa tala
[27:53]does not allow for something to happen it's not going to happen
[28:02]period Allah did not allow pharaoh to kill M hence Pharaoh was
[28:04]able to kill thousands of babies but he was not able to
[28:08]kill the real M makes sense and the opposite is true when
[28:17]Allah wants something to happen he decrees it he wants it to
[28:23]happen it's going to happen Allah T wants people to go through
[28:25]death that's a decree that we cannot Escape one day we're going
[28:30]to have to die either we get killed by someone or we
[28:33]die due to old age due to sickness due to a car
[28:38]accident there are two Avenues and we're going to have to take
[28:40]one of them before we leave this world that that's a given
[28:47]you cannot Escape that fate make sense here of course an idea
[28:51]comes to mind which is all right so in this case those
[28:56]who are sinning those who are disobeying Allah those who are oppressing
[29:01]other people um they are technically oppressing other people with Allah's permission
[29:05]so now Allah be becomes what he becomes the criminal or he
[29:11]becomes a criminal and the answer is no Allah is not a
[29:14]criminal Allah gives the human being the power that he needs to
[29:23]obey Allah all right he gives him power to perform actions so
[29:26]he may use that power in a good way way not in
[29:31]a bad way so when the human being uses his power given
[29:33]to him by Allah in a bad way he's at fault not
[29:37]God yes so we have the power right I can I can
[29:44]this power this given me I can use it to obey him
[29:51]or disobey let's say I'm using this power to oppress you right
[29:55]I I have intended upon it I upon the a MH but
[30:00]then why do I have to carry it through or why does
[30:05]Allah have to permit me to carry it through uhhuh so for
[30:08]example I have a gun yeah I'm pointing it to you my
[30:13]fingers on the trigger y why do I have to actually pull
[30:16]the Trigg I've intended it is it not enough is my crime
[30:18]not complete no not yet why do you have to actually become
[30:22]the M for me to be a well the human being here
[30:29]he he choose is to become the by by shooting the person
[30:31]who does not deserve to be shot right so now Allah subhana
[30:37]tala when when Allah does not intervene in such cases and doesn't
[30:41]stop the shooting from happening Allah is permitting the shooting by permitting
[30:46]it I mean he's allowing it to happen now that allowance doesn't
[30:49]mean Allah is pleased with whatever is happening you know we've said
[30:54]this multiple times Allah's allowance is one thing and his pleasure is
[31:01]something else when he allows people to commit crimes he's not pleased
[31:08]with their crimes hence he holds them accountable for what they did
[31:12]on a day of judgment or in the Hereafter so his pleasure
[31:17]is one thing and what he allows is is or could be
[31:20]something else correct he allows me to pray and I pray so
[31:27]there's permission from Allah for me to pray and I know that
[31:30]prayer pleases him so here you find that his permission and his
[31:33]pleasure coincide but then again Allah T permitted to kill IM Hussein
[31:40]ABD to kill IM Ali mu to kill IM but Allah was
[31:47]not pleased with the killing of Ali or Hussein so here his
[31:52]permission was on one side and his pleasure was on the other
[31:55]side make sense that's not my question uhhuh so I'm doing the
[32:00]crime right okay I get punished for it and Allah records it
[32:03]that I did the crime correct why do you have to become
[32:09]the witness is the question so the example is like for uh
[32:13]is right yes he didn't have to actually be sacrificed okay ibraim
[32:18]sacrifice was accepted even though he didn't actually kill that is what
[32:24]I'm getting at here we're I I cannot give you a definite
[32:28]answer I can give you a general one which is these occurrences
[32:34]which take place on Earth they all go back to Allah's decree
[32:39]and Allah's decree is mysterious I'm not going to you know pretend
[32:43]that I know all the secrets in his decree you know I
[32:44]know a minimal amount of of secrets in his decree his decree
[32:48]what what the narrations call is quite mysterious and uh what we
[32:56]can do is come out with certain possibilities uh to understand what
[33:03]could be the wisdom behind such An Occurrence why would fulan say
[33:12]his name is jabber why would jabber be killed by mean as
[33:15]an example someone called ha and why would Allah allow this right
[33:22]what's what's the wisdom behind it as we said ha is the
[33:24]criminal not Allah subhana T but Allah T allowed to be killed
[33:32]by ha why it's it's an interesting question and we might not
[33:37]know the answer but we can come out with possibilities one possibility
[33:41]is uh ja is a good person Allah knows he's he's he's
[33:48]good he's sweet but you know Jaber slipped a few times here
[33:51]and there and disobeyed Allah subhana wa ta'ala Allah doesn't want to
[33:55]punish him in the Hereafter but jabber needs cleansing ha intends on
[34:04]killing jabber Allah subhana T allows ha to kill jab and holds
[34:09]ha accountable for what he did but he cleanses ja through the
[34:14]oppression that Bealls him so now ja goes to the Hereafter in
[34:21]a in a clean State he has no sins whatsoever make sense
[34:28]that's that's one one one possibility yeah another possibility is Allah subhana
[34:33]wa tala wants to lift he wants to elevate the status of
[34:40]of jabber right jabber is good and Allah knows it but you
[34:43]know jab is that kind of a person who doesn't doesn't you
[34:50]know exert much effort in you know worshiping Allah he's good he
[34:54]worships God but he's not you know your your uh he's not
[35:00]the you know the person who performs excessive Allah wants him to
[35:07]reach a high level in heaven based on his current actions he'll
[35:11]be let's say in level one Allah wants him to be in
[35:16]level seven how is he how is he is he gonna get
