[0:09]m [Music] in our last lesson we were uh reading a tradition
[0:50]by IM Hussein in which he explains the meaning of the Imam
[1:00]was asked about Allah what is the meaning of and so the
[1:05]IM said that Allah subhana waala Allah he explained the meaning of
[1:14]a uh through the verses that came after in for those of
[1:21]you who are new we are studying the of and we're specifically
[1:26]at the part which says so the IM said that Allah he
[1:33]explained the by saying so this means if someone understands the meaning
[1:45]of he will understand what is a which led us to reading
[1:54]a lengthy tradition uh by IM Hussein in which he uh explains
[2:02]all right so we read half of the tradition the the recording
[2:08]is online for those who are not present and we stopped at
[2:12]the other half when he explains now we said one of the
[2:20]basic meanings that we derive from this Holy Verse is that Allah
[2:23]subhana wa tala is not a parent as in he has no
[2:28]children and he's not a son he's not a child meaning he
[2:32]does not have any parents this is one basic meaning that we
[2:37]derive from also we derive that he has no Partners meaning he
[2:41]does not have a wife from which he receives a son or
[2:47]a daughter that's a basic meaning but Imus gave us a deeper
[2:54]meaning when explaining when he shed light on the said and I'm
[2:58]going to summarize what he said he said that L indicates that
[3:05]uh nothing stems from Allah subhanahu wa taala whether that thing is
[3:11]dense or light sometimes one thing stems from another one matter or
[3:21]one thing stems from another matter or thing for example a child
[3:25]comes out of its mother's womb here one thing is steming out
[3:31]of the other and both are what dense sometimes something that's light
[3:36]stems from something else for example something that is dense like what
[3:46]like NS the soul comes out of the human body the soul
[3:49]is light it's not dense and it comes out of the the
[3:55]body your words they come out of your mouth they're what they're
[3:59]light not dense but they come out of the human being they
[4:06]come out of you you're the one who produces those words so
[4:11]when Allah says Allah is saying that he that that nothing stems
[4:17]out of Allah subhanahu wa taala the way things stem out of
[4:25]other things in this world in fact the IM said confirms that
[4:30]Allah Suba T does not go through the states that we human
[4:34]beings go through like what like happiness and sadness like drowsiness uh
[4:44]strength for example sometimes you feel strong sometimes you feel weak Allah
[4:51]subhana wa T does not go through these states and the verse
[4:59]or part of the verse that part of the verse which says
[5:02]confirms this reality this is a quick summary of what now we
[5:16]stopped at the part in which he says let me send it
[5:22]to you on the chat section uh for the new students if
[5:39]you download an app called Cisco WebEx meetings J and you log
[5:41]on to the uh the room the virtual room we have you'll
[5:46]have the aith sent to you I'm sending a Hadith on the
[5:48]chat section so you'll be able to receive the Hadith or the
[5:54]verses and to read them with us inshallah tal the app is
[5:57]called Cisco WebEx meetings okay all right so the IM says what
[6:10]again this narration is found in says meaning Allah did not originate
[6:26]from anything he does not have an orig whereas we have Origins
[6:35]for example we came from what from our parents right with Allah's
[6:42]permission Allah T chose to make our parents a cause behind our
[6:49]existence or a cause for our existence not the only cause but
[6:52]one of the causes which brought us into this world Allah on
[6:58]the other hand he has no origin he is the origin of
[7:05]all matters meaning he's the Creator had it not been for him
[7:07]nothing no possible being would exist everything depended on him and still
[7:17]depends on him and will always depend on him whereas he is
[7:21]independent absolutely independent and has no origin so he says he did
[7:30]not or originate from anything and he did not come out of
[7:33]anything subhana tala then the IM gives more details he said Allah
[7:53]T did not come out of anything the same way dense matters
[7:56]come out of their origins or their sources like what he gives
[8:04]examples just as one thing comes out of another for example uh
[8:11]sometimes a person sweats right the sweat comes out of his body
[8:15]the sweat is dense something that you can feel and the body
[8:20]is also dense something that you can feel the sweat comes out
[8:23]of the body does Allah T come out of anything in that
[8:28]manner no he doesn't subhana waala he says sometimes an animal comes
[8:35]out of another animal for example the child comes out of the
[8:39]mother's womb right or a bird for example lays an egg the
[8:45]egg comes out of the bird and both are what dance matters
[8:51]dance matters something something that you can actually feel something that's rigid
[8:57]or solid herbs plants vegetation come out of the earth water stems
[9:14]from Springs fruits come out of trees they stem from trees so
[9:29]the Imam here is giving us examples of things that are dense
[9:36]that come out of other things meaning they have Origins the fruit
[9:41]the origin of the fruit is what the tree the origin of
[9:48]the vegetation or the plant or the flower is the Earth so
[9:55]he's telling you when you see these dense matters coming out of
[9:58]their sources or Origins know that this does not apply to Allah
[10:02]subhanahu wa tala when he says L you L he's telling you
[10:07]this does not apply to me I do not come out of
[10:11]matters the way these dence matters sorry I do not I do
[10:13]not come out of anything the way these dense matters come out
[10:19]of their Origins then the Imam moves to things that are light
[10:33]not things that are we spoke about the things that are dense
[10:36]now he talks about things that are light so he says Allah
[10:50]subhana wa tala does not come out of anything the way light
[10:59]matters come out of their origins or come out of uh the
[11:07]places from which they stem like what AB abdah he gives us
[11:11]examples and of course the examples are really important to understand the
[11:14]concept that the IM is mentioning he speaks about the senses right
[11:29]the senses of the human being so it tells us that there's
[11:35]something called Bas that is sight or the power to see and
[11:41]then you have the eye the sight or the power to see
[11:47]stems from what from from the eye you need the eye in
[11:52]order to see but the eye is one thing and the sight
[11:56]of the human being or the sight of the animal is something
[11:58]else J thus you see certain people with eyes but they can't
[12:06]see they're blind so the sight is one thing the eye is
[12:11]something else but they're connected sight stems from the eye but you
[12:16]don't see it you don't feel the sight it's something that's light
[12:22]not dense you can't feel it the same way you feel your
[12:24]eye or you feel your body but it stems from the eye
[12:28]the same applies to hearing and the ear the ear is one
[12:33]thing and the power to hear hearing itself is something else hence
[12:40]you'll see people with ears but they can't hear they're deaf hearing
[12:45]or the power to hear is connected to the ear which is
[12:52]quite obvious it stems from the ear but again it's not something
[12:55]that you can touch not something that you can you can feel
[12:58]with your hand for example hence it's light the IM is saying
[13:04]it's it's what it is so the sight stems from the eye
[13:13]the the hearing stems from the ear does this apply to Allah
[13:19]subhana tala it does not meaning Allah does not come out of
[13:24]any matter the same the way um light matters or issues stem
[13:32]from their origins or stem from certain things then he [Music] says
[13:47]your nose you use your nose to smell scents to smell fragrances
[13:53]the power to smell is different than the nose that power stems
[13:57]from the nose again it's something light something that you cannot feel
[14:06]or touch with your hand but it stems from the the nose
[14:08]meaning that you need the nose to smell if if you don't
[14:12]have a nose you won't be able to smell a person uses
[14:25]his mouth to taste certain matters to taste his food for example
[14:29]or to taste his drink the power to taste is connected to
[14:36]the mouth it stems from the mouth as you need the mouth
[14:41]to taste certain matters to taste your food without the mouth you
[14:44]won't be able to taste words stem from your tongue meaning you
[14:59]need the tongue in order to speak in order to utter words
[15:06]that people can understand in order to utter a speech one might
[15:14]say but you know I need my vocal cords to produce sounds
[15:19]not my tongue you need your vocal cords to produce sounds but
[15:23]in order to actually talk in a way people understand you you
[15:28]don't want need your vocal cords you need your vocal cords and
[15:33]your mouth and of course your tongue the tongue plays a vital
[15:36]role in what in articulating in in pronouncing or uttering letters and
[15:43]these letters make up what words and the words make up your
[15:50]speech or your sermon or whatever you want to say the message
[15:53]that you want to convey hence the IM speaks about the tongue
[15:57]and he says words stem from the tongue the words that stem
[16:04]from the tongue can I catch them can I touch them I
[16:06]can't hence the IM says they're La they're they're light they do
[16:12]exist but they're lighter than your body for example or other solids
[16:16]that are in you or around you here the Imam mentions has
[16:36]different meanings one of its meanings is the intellect all right one
[16:40]of the meanings of Al is the intellect now sometimes we talk
[16:45]about Al and we refer to the human soul how will you
[16:51]know what is meant by the when you read a specific tradition
[16:55]you'd have to look at the context to see or talking about
[17:00]the intellect or are we talking about the human soul nonetheless the
[17:05]im here talks about and from the context we understand that he's
[17:10]speaking about the intellect why because he speaks about understanding and Tam
[17:18]Tam is basically the power to differentiate between matters and the intellect
[17:33]is needed for both through your intellect you're able to understand matters
[17:39]through your intellect you're able to differentiate between matters between what's right
[17:45]and wrong between good and evil Etc so he says they stem
[17:50]from what from the intellect the intellect is one thing but your
[17:53]mifa your understanding is something else it's a product of the intellect
[18:01]yes hence it stems from the intellect is also something else as
[18:06]we said is the power to differentiate between matters that's different than
[18:11]the intellect it's a product of the intellect through the intellect you
[18:17]can you can do thus the IM says that stem from the
[18:25]from the intellect finally he gives the example of fire and stones
[18:36]he says fire stems from what from stones but fire in comparison
[18:45]to stones or to our bodies is quite light it's lighter than
[18:49]our bodies and stones and whatnot so here abdah gave us examples
[19:01]of multiple light matters that stem from other matters and the message
[19:12]he wanted to convey is Allah subhanahu wa taala does not originate
[19:20]from anything he has no origin so he does not come out
[19:29]of anything the way a baby comes out of its mother's womb
[19:34]and he does not come out of anything the way your sight
[19:39]comes out stems from your eye or the way for example fire
[19:42]stems from a stone or multiple Stones long story short he has
[19:51]no origin subhah wa taala then he said he said nay he
[20:12]is Allah he is a now we said previously is meaning he
[20:23]is the master that is sought by all beings for the Fulfillment
[20:26]of their needs that is a any being in existence refers to
[20:40]Allah goes back to Allah seeks Allah subhah wa taala for the
[20:44]Fulfillment of his or her or their needs he is the one
[20:53]who did not come out of anything so he always existed yes
[21:01]he did not need anyone to exist no he was completely independent
[21:05]is completely independent and will always be completely independent subhana wa tala
[21:10]he did not come out of anything and he is not inside
[21:16]of anything and he is not on top of anything meaning he's
[21:24]not carried by anything your heart is inside your body Allah is
[21:34]inside of us or inside of this building physically no he's not
[21:41]he's not but one will say isn't Allah tal always with us
[21:48]doesn't the Quran say he's with you doesn't the Quran say he's
[21:55]closer to him to the human being sorry we are closer to
[22:02]him than his jugular vein but he's not close in a physical
[22:05]manner because he's not physical subhana wa tala so Allah is with
[22:12]us in this room yes but not physically if I say he's
[22:14]physically with us in this room I've limited God and I've attributed
[22:20]to him a trait that does not belong to Allah subhanahu waala
[22:25]hence the says he's not in anything but he's in the room
[22:32]in what sense he's with us in this room and he's with
[22:34]us wherever we may be in the sense that wherever we are
[22:38]he has dominion over us he knows what we are doing he's
[22:45]fully aware of what we are doing he sees us he hears
[22:48]us and we are in need of him to exist and to
[22:54]live wherever we may be that is the meaning of him being
[23:06]with us wherever we are now shed let's shed light on he
[23:20]says he's not on anything and this is important especially when we
[23:26]remember what right the The Throne of Allah you said right right
[23:30]when you remember or we have these things that Allah T mentioned
[23:36]in the Quran right uh he mentioned a in multiple verses the
[23:43]throne the narration also spoke about The Throne of Allah spoke about
[23:52]hence it's known as right let's translate kury to the chair so
[23:58]here when hearing the these words and reading the verses about or
[24:04]reading the Traditions about or one might they say might assume that
[24:12]Allah subhana wa tala is sitting down on top of a throne
[24:15]or on top of a chair but that's not the case Allah
[24:20]is not limited of who are aware of of what Allah said
[24:28]and what said about Allah subhana T know that Allah physical he's
[24:34]not limited so he's not sitting on any Throne not sitting on
[24:40]any chair and the word of IM husin alludes to this when
[24:46]he says he's not on anything but this does not negate the
[24:52]fact that there is a throne there is something called there is
[24:58]something called now what are they that's a different story we can
[25:01]look into that one day previously before we had these uh uh
[25:07]classes before we had classes on on on this specific application we
[25:13]had lessons on alhamdulillah perhaps we can um give classes again in
[25:19]the near future about ayat specifically and we mentioned in those classes
[25:28]what is a that Allah mentions when he says meaning that the
[25:43]Coury of God is as wide as the S the skies and
[25:46]the Earth or say encompasses overwhelms the skies and the Earth what
[25:53]is this kury that he's talking about perhaps one day we'll we'll
[25:57]have a few lessons on on the then he says now he's
[26:09]describing Allah subhana wa tala and I've said this once and I'll
[26:12]say it again the description that give to Allah subhana tala is
[26:19]very important the more uh of their words you read the the
[26:25]better you'll understand Allah subhana wa tala you understand them to your
[26:31]own level of understanding of course we'll never fully understand God but
[26:36]your understanding of Allah will be enhanced by looking more and more
[26:41]into the words of what's interesting is whenever usually whenever want to
[26:47]begin a a sermon the sermon begins with what with h they
[26:52]praise Allah and it begins with meaning they describe Allah subhanahu waala
[26:57]they mention his beautiful traits but if you simply read their their
[27:02]sermons and you read that part of the it will give you
[27:08]a lot of knowledge regarding who is Allah subhah wa tala here
[27:12]the IM says he's the creator of the things meaning the creator
[27:17]of all things but he's also is who he is the one
[27:25]who creates something uh when that specific thing does not have a
[27:31]previous model hence Allah is known as means he created the skies
[27:48]and the earth when previously there were no Skies there were there
[27:52]was not in Earth so he did not need anyone for him
[28:00]to come and create the skies and the Earth sometimes what you
[28:04]do as a human being is you copy someone else's work or
[28:09]at least you use the work of that someone to produce a
[28:15]particular thing for example someone invent invents a table so I come
[28:19]forth and I produce another table so uh the the the person
[28:26]who invented the table is is who the innovator one the invent
[28:35]the inventor and I did what I copied his word I got
[28:39]inspired by him with Allah subhana wa tala that's not the case
[28:43]Allah did not need anyone and does not need anyone to create
[28:49]whatever he wants to create in fact at a certain I can't
[28:55]say time because he's the creator of time let let me call
[28:58]it phase at a certain phe no one existed other than Allah
[29:02]then he made then he created and then he created the universe
[29:06]he created the skies and the Earth there was no such thing
[29:11]as the universe there were no Skies there was no Earth he
[29:16]did not need anyone to make up to give him the idea
[29:18]of how to create the skies and the Earth because he is
[29:23]Allah subhana wa tala he's aware of all matters was always aware
[29:27]is always aware and will always be aware of everything as the
[29:31]Quran says it's time to pray so we'll stop here we're almost
[29:41]done the narration of IM Hussein next week in our next Quran
[29:46]class we'll um we'll mention uh new points uh most likely we
[29:56]will mention a bit of points extra points regarding l and we'll
[30:00]move on
