On the anniversary of the birth of teh Sayeda Zainb bint Ali (sa), we look into how we can take lessons from her life of hardships and review our own hardships this year, and how we are meant to view them.

[0:40]i'd like to begin by sending my peace and blessings on the

[0:45]holy project the holy prophet and his progeny the bait and to

[0:48]congratulate you all and the imam of our time on the anniversary

[0:54]of the birth of saiyadaz zainab is one of the important characters

[0:59]that we look towards in our own lives and she is one

[1:05]of the champions of kerbala one who despite all of the adversaries

[1:08]and all of the problems and all the issues that came and

[1:13]all the hardships that came out to her life she still ended

[1:15]up closer to allah as a result of these although we look

[1:20]into the life of zainab and her we look into her life

[1:25]we see her actions after the event of karbala and during the

[1:30]event of karbala we tend to see zainab in this view saying

[1:34]but i want to spend a bit of tonight to try to

[1:38]understand on the night of her birth about her life even before

[1:45]that and how these events in our own life made the person

[1:50]that she became and how that affected her on that day of

[1:54]care of and in the palace of yazid and sham so inshallah

[1:57]we'll be looking into that and after and we'll be spending tonight

[2:00]to look at her character to see what we can learn from

[2:05]that and how we can come out being closer to allah and

[2:08]having that tawakkul having that faith that trust in allah that he

[2:12]is there whenever we are faced with any hardships any issues in

[2:19]our own lives when we look at the character of zainab we

[2:24]see a manifestation of the characteristics of the albeit in general we

[2:29]see that she grew up under the protection and under the household

[2:32]of many prominent characters we see that she grew up under the

[2:40]holy prophet who was her grandfather and she grew up after under

[2:44]inaudible and after she also grew up under azerite so all of

[2:58]these characteristics she was able to take that into her own life

[3:01]and she was able to use these characteristics and manifest them within

[3:03]herself so that we can see that character within her now i

[3:11]want to begin of course by getting to know her a bit

[3:16]better and the facts about her on the day of her birth

[3:18]she was born on the fifth of jamada al-awal in madina some

[3:23]say that it is might have been in the month of sha'an

[3:26]or the month of jama but we accept more prominently that it's

[3:33]the fifth of jama what in the year five some may also

[3:35]say the sixth so she was born the third of the children

[3:43]of and say the fatima salam so she was born after emo

[3:49]hassan hussain being known as zainab kubra as opposed to her younger

[3:54]sister so this is a bit about her now the name of

[4:00]zainab is very interesting when we look into it that there's a

[4:02]specific story about it that when her mother brought her to imam

[4:09]ali she said to him name her and she replies i would

[4:11]not name her i would not name her before allah's messenger at

[4:16]this time the prophet was away he was on a trip and

[4:19]when he returned he again refused to name her before her lord

[4:23]so rasulullah ali waited for the lord to give him that name

[4:27]and then he descended to inform rasulallah about allah's blessing and he

[4:36]says that the name of this baby is zainab allah chose his

[4:40]name for her subhanallah look at this beauty the name of zainab

[4:45]was chosen by allah in which he gave to rasulallah to name

[4:48]her so this name zainab what does this exactly mean right one

[4:55]must ask it comes of two words it is a compound of

[4:58]zain and ab zain meaning the adornment or the beauty and of

[5:03]being that of the father so we could say that it is

[5:08]a compound of the beauty of her father and she later married

[5:10]abdullah in jaffar and they had five children from them those being

[5:16]ali muhammad abbas and um and some of these names you may

[5:24]have heard during the battle of karbala she had many different names

[5:28]and titles among them being akala which means the most honorable woman

[5:31]and aalima meaning the most knowledgeable we say she's the most honorable

[5:38]woman and one of the events in her life shows that is

[5:40]that of hassan when he passed on who did he give his

[5:44]will to we see that he gives his will he gives it

[5:50]to her and he trusts her as she is one of the

[5:53]most honorable women that he sees in our her life and that

[5:55]which we see in our own life so he even trusts her

[6:00]with this this will being so important and in the other name

[6:04]which is we can completely understand that she's the most knowledgeable woman

[6:07]of her time being one that grew up under the household of

[6:10]amir al-manin as he as we can understand is the most eloquent

[6:15]he's the peak of eloquence and we can see that in her

[6:19]own character and we know that during her time when she was

[6:21]in medina and later on in kufa she would host sessions in

[6:26]which she would teach the quran and she would teach the woman

[6:29]of the time about the quran so she was a teacher among

[6:33]those people and she would teach the woman so this is a

[6:39]bit about her now i want to go back into the original

[6:42]verse that i read and i want to look a bit deeper

[6:44]into it now so he says that nothing befalls us that which

[7:03]allah writes for us that which allah ordains for us that which

[7:07]he decrees upon us so nothing falls upon us except for which

[7:11]he decrees and what does he say after hua mawlana what he

[7:18]says that he's our protecting friend the one who protects us he's

[7:25]our protecting friend and in allah let believers put their trust let

[7:32]the believers put their trust upon him upon allah subhanahu wa ta'ala

[7:37]so this is one of the verses that relates to the life

[7:41]of the zainab and how does it relate in our own lives

[7:48]as we can see that allah tests us you savannah he gives

[7:53]us hardships he gives us issues in our own lives and we

[7:58]come upon challenges which he gives to test us in our own

[8:04]life as allah says in the quran he says he is the

[8:16]one who is created death and life and why does he create

[8:24]it this is important he says to test you who is the

[8:31]best in actions and he's the most mighty and the forgiving so

[8:35]allah we can see that he tests us with this life and

[8:42]within this test we see many different things being tested upon them

[8:48]being fear upon them being wealth our spouses our children these are

[8:56]all tests that are within our own lives that allah tests us

[8:59]and with these challenges there comes a need for many different characteristics

[9:04]characteristics such as patience such as resilience such as hope such as

[9:12]reflection and above all all to trust in allah subhanahu wa ta'ala

[9:20]so the believers put their trust in allah this is one of

[9:25]the most important things that we need to have in our own

[9:27]life above all such as hope reflection resilience and patience we need

[9:32]to have our tawakkul for god and not many can be sick

[9:38]not many can say that they've been tested in a way let's

[9:40]say the zainab has been tested for she has been tested in

[9:45]a way that not many of us can even compare not to

[9:46]even a small portion of her life let's look into her life

[9:53]let's see what kind of limits she's been tested to at a

[9:55]young age she lost her grandfather rasulullah had passed at a very

[10:02]young age and she felt that bitterness of life in regards to

[10:06]her grandfather passing away at such a young age and not being

[10:09]able to spend that time with him after after that what do

[10:14]we see we see that her mother passes away from the injuries

[10:17]that she receives to lose your mother at such a young age

[10:23]it affects the children to see that their mother passes away so

[10:28]this is another test after rasulallah's of him passing away she loses

[10:36]her own mother say the fatima what else after this she goes

[10:41]and she takes her family with her from medina the only city

[10:45]that she knew when she grew up in when i salam he

[10:50]went to kufa in his khilafah it was say the zainab that

[10:55]came with her family he took she took her kids and her

[10:57]husband and they went to kufa and this would not be the

[11:02]last time that they would be traveling outside of their safe haven

[11:05]so they left tekufa and this is where another tragic tragedy befell

[11:12]upon her what is this tragedy that of amir al-mu'manin that in

[11:16]which he had been struck in the head in his prayer this

[11:20]is another tragedy that she felt in her own life this is

[11:25]her father who was also passed away days after being struck by

[11:28]an enemy of the albeit so this is another tragedy that befalls

[11:34]her after this so we see that and upon that we later

[11:39]see who else but her brother hassan alayhi salaam he had been

[11:46]poisoned one of the shabbab of al-jannah one of the youths the

[11:48]masters of paradise he's poisoned and upon this he passes away when

[11:55]you look at her she's lost so many different characters we see

[12:00]that she's lost her own grandfather her mother her father and now

[12:05]her brother has been poisoned so now this leaves imam hasan alayhi

[12:11]and now this is where we see the biggest issue or the

[12:14]biggest hardship in our own life and the biggest test on that

[12:20]day of karbala and this is a day when she sees so

[12:24]much of her family and so much of the supporters of the

[12:27]bait they pass away and this is so difficult and such a

[12:30]tragedy one that we commemorate every year so these are all the

[12:38]difficulties of say the zainab and can we even say that if

[12:42]we felt such a life if we were tested to the limits

[12:43]that she was tested would we be able to come out closer

[12:48]to allah after result of this test many of us would say

[12:52]no many of us would believe that you would lose faith in

[12:56]allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala to say that how can allah give so much

[13:00]evil upon this world for me to have lost so many family

[13:02]members for me to be left alone for me to lose my

[13:05]own two sons owen and muhammad these are two of her own

[13:10]sons that she gave away in karbala so these are another test

[13:14]for her so she loses these two sons in kiarbala as well

[13:17]so after this what happens she's taken to the palace of yazid

[13:21]and they are chained and they are taken to sham in which

[13:25]the people of sham and the people of kufa they're outside in

[13:30]the streets and they're parading this family of the albeit they're praying

[13:34]them in the streets and they're taken in chains and in this

[13:38]we can see when she comes to the palace of yazid we

[13:43]can see that there's the famous saying of say the zainab one

[13:48]of the most famous things that we we attribute to her mara

[13:55]i did not see nothing but beauty what does she mean by

[14:01]this what does she mean by seeing beauty in such a tragedy

[14:06]in the tragedy of karbala can one even see beauty in such

[14:09]a state how can we see after such hardships well the viewpoint

[14:20]of say the zainab was not not that in which we can

[14:24]see or sometimes we see it in a very materialistic view but

[14:28]rather she saw a more different view to karbala and a more

[14:33]different view to her issues she saw that this was something that

[14:39]allah put upon her and this was a test that she was

[14:42]given she was given all of these tragedies as a test to

[14:46]her in this very temporary world and she saw it as that

[14:49]clearly this was something that was temporary for us and just for

[14:51]allah to see our actions as a result of these tests and

[14:56]this is where she says that she has contentment this is an

[15:03]important word here contentment in the affairs of allah she was content

[15:07]with which she was given and this was the test that she

[15:12]was given by allah yet she still came out and viewed beauty

[15:15]in it and what is the verse of the quran holy quran

[15:24]allah does not burden a soul more than it can bear this

[15:28]is a verse from allah in allah says that he does not

[15:35]burden us and she can see that that the test that she

[15:40]was given was not something that was unbearable rather this was from

[15:44]allah so that she can come out of it even greater and

[15:49]we can see in our own life sometimes when we lose our

[15:53]dear ones our loved ones this causes a catalyst a change in

[15:56]our own character some of you may have already seen it we

[15:59]move a certain way and as a result of a loss of

[16:03]a loved one we see it to a certain extent that it

[16:05]changes us and we move towards being a better person after seeing

[16:12]that so this takes our child into perspective what exactly is our

[16:17]life and what exactly it means so we can see through the

[16:22]character of say the zainab that she saw the trial as it

[16:24]is and nothing more than that and i want to now relate

[16:28]that into our own lives and this is a very good time

[16:31]that we should have this discussion as we're closing 2021 and these

[16:36]are the final month of the year we've seen so many pain

[16:41]and we've seen so many hardships in our year just like the

[16:44]last year this year has been very difficult for us being away

[16:46]from our loved ones and some of us might have seen that

[16:50]we've also loved we've also lost our loved ones during these past

[16:54]two years so now we should reflect upon our own lives in

[16:57]this year and how we've viewed it have we viewed it in

[17:01]the way that we should have we viewed it in the way

[17:05]of say the zainab that in which she viewed it to see

[17:07]as a trial to see how we can see the beauty out

[17:11]of it how every single moment there is beauty inside each moment

[17:14]whether this be in hardship so inshallah the year is ending and

[17:20]we should try to reflect upon ourselves and think upon this year

[17:23]and how we viewed it and inshaallah we can try to implement

[17:26]into our own lives the characteristics of say the zainab and as

[17:31]allah says in the holy quran indeed after hardship comes ease so

[17:41]we've passed through such hardships we've had that osri right we've seen

[17:45]that the difficulties that this year has come with us but inshallah

[17:49]we can look into the future into this new year inshallah 2022

[17:54]for us to get yusura to just for to be able to

[17:57]get our ease after such hardships and inshallah we can grow through

[18:02]our own characters characteristics so let's take a moment to take the

[18:05]beauties of our own lives the jamilah we should think about it

[18:10]and say ma'ai to allah of our own lives and of this

[18:14]year so we see the beauty about it and inshaallah through this

[18:17]we can try to implement these characteristics of the advaith and specifically

[18:23]the characteristics of sainab and inshallah we can grow and we can

[18:27]become closer to allah
