[0:23][Music] the [Music] there's no question amongst all muslims that the quran
[1:04]is the holy book it is the book that all muslims refer
[1:13]to it is the book that all muslims learn from and we
[1:18]base our religion and our values based on the quran and there
[1:25]is no division regarding the quran everyone accepts the quran however where
[1:32]the muslims are divided is not on the actual quran but rather
[1:39]on the interpretation of the quran on the understanding of the quran
[1:45]on the tafsir of the quran the verses and the surahs of
[1:50]the quran are the same for all muslims however when it comes
[1:54]to the interpretation you see a huge difference you see different mindsets
[2:02]different ideologies you have the salafi using verses of the quran to
[2:08]argue their beliefs you have the shia uses using verses of the
[2:12]quran to argue their beliefs and sometimes you have these different thoughts
[2:19]and ideologies being used and using the quran to strengthen the argument
[2:31]that some ideologies have and this is why the imams of the
[2:37]advaith they say that you cannot always refer to the quran when
[2:43]it comes to debate taking it off of face value without understanding
[2:49]truly understanding the tafsir and the meaning of the quran why because
[2:55]the hadith says meaning that you could take a different meaning and
[3:02]you apply it to the quran and someone else takes a very
[3:06]opposite meaning and they apply it to the same verse of the
[3:10]quran this is why it is very important to have the proper
[3:16]tafseer of the quran the proper interpretation the proper exoduses of the
[3:24]quran because allah subhanahu wa ta'ala made the quran in a way
[3:28]where there are some verses that are clear no one could come
[3:34]and argue with those verses these are the the mother of the
[3:38]book these are the foundations of the book these are very clear
[3:43]and then there are other verses that are referred to in the
[3:49]quran meaning ambiguous verses in the quran and these ambiguous verses they
[3:58]require interpretation they require understanding but not any interpretation they require interpretation
[4:06]from individuals who know the quran from individuals who understand the quran
[4:14]and that is rasulullah and his holy household they are the true
[4:19]interpreters of the quran allah says in the quran in surah [Music]
[4:47]our verses are very clear no one could come and change and
[4:53]twist the meaning of these verses there are others that are ambiguous
[5:10]that are not very clear and then allah says and there are
[5:26]individuals who there's a disease in their hearts the hypocrites those who
[5:33]try to make the religion go with their needs instead of adapting
[5:37]their life to the religion to what god wants they want religion
[5:42]and god to adapt to the way they live their life they
[5:49]go after the verses after the verses that are not very clear
[5:54]what do they do they try to cause fitna tumult in the
[6:00]community and they try to change the meaning of the quran religion
[6:05]is a very powerful tool and religion a lot of people take
[6:11]advantage of religion you find people they say things in the name
[6:15]of religion to fool people so it's very easy to come and
[6:20]take verses in the quran and to make them fit with your
[6:22]desires with your needs and then your company tells them this is
[6:24]what god is saying in the quran so allah acknowledges this and
[6:32]then allah says in the quran the interpretation the real exodus of
[6:43]the quran it is not known except by god and who else
[6:51]who god has given them knowledge who are those who allah has
[6:56]given them knowledge a specific group of people this is why this
[7:00]is one of the arguments that the shias the followers of the
[7:05]ada bait use to argue for the sake of imam because the
[7:08]other school they say any person could be an imam any person
[7:14]you you got up you come you lead the prayer and you
[7:15]become the khalifah you become the leader and you're the imam but
[7:19]we say no the imam needs to be able to interpret the
[7:23]quran the imam needs to be given knowledge by allah [Music] the
[7:30]ones who god has given them knowledge now before we go and
[7:37]talking about who are those people why did allah subhanahu ta'ala make
[7:43]some verses in the quran clear and other verses not so clear
[7:45]isn't allah isn't allah supposed to guide us all why would some
[7:52]verses become ambiguous while other verses are very clear and straightforward here
[7:57]scholars they give different reasons and different interpretations one of them which
[8:04]we spoke about not last night but the day before and that
[8:06]is the jazz the inimitability of the quran one of the features
[8:12]of the quran that makes the quran a miracle and brought so
[8:17]many people to accept rasul allah is because the quran is inadmittable
[8:21]meaning you can't imitate the quran it's a merger and one of
[8:29]the ways it is inimitable is through the language of the quran
[8:31]so the language of the quran is in a way where no
[8:36]one could come and make something up like it where no one
[8:40]could come and copy it and in order for it to be
[8:44]that way then some verses come off as ambiguous they come off
[8:47]as mutasa this is one second they say that the quran is
[8:55]not only speaking directly to one time and one person and one
[8:58]group of people the quran was revealed 1400 years ago but it
[9:02]is speaking to me right now in 2022 just as it was
[9:08]speaking to people 1400 years ago the quran is not like a
[9:14]newspaper not like uh any book that you get up when you
[9:16]get up and you read a book you could read it even
[9:19]if you don't see the date and the time you could contextualize
[9:23]you could come and say i i gather i could i could
[9:26]i could you know i could conclude that this was written a
[9:30]hundred years ago i could conclude that this was written five thousand
[9:35]five hundred years ago we could conclude that the quran when you
[9:39]read it now or you read it 1400 years ago it's as
[9:42]if it's the same so this is why sometimes some verses come
[9:46]off as ambiguous because allah in general terms for all people for
[9:54]all humanity for everyone it's not speaking directly to me as an
[9:58]individual based on my own circumstances this is the second reason the
[10:04]third reason why there are some ambiguous verses in the quran is
[10:08]that we don't have the knowledge of the revelation verses of the
[10:13]quran were revealed over 23 years the quran began being revealed in
[10:20]the in the cave of hera when the prophet was 40 years
[10:22]old and every day and every month and every week verses would
[10:28]be revealed until the prophet passed away 23 years so every time
[10:32]a verse was revealed it was revealed based on a context based
[10:37]on a story based on an incident we don't know the stories
[10:41]we don't know the incidents so this is why some verses for
[10:43]us they come off as ambiguous because we don't know the context
[10:48]of revelation if you know the context then it's not going to
[10:52]be ambiguous this is the third point and the fourth point and
[10:56]perhaps the most important verses in the quran ambiguous so that people
[11:07]go back to the other debate so that people go back to
[11:12]rasulullah the quran is not meant to be understood on its own
[11:17]allah gave us the quran and gave us interpreters of the quran
[11:23]these interpreters of the quran they and the quran they go hand
[11:28]in hand with one another they do not separate from one another
[11:30]and these are not our words these are the words when he
[11:36]talks in the hadith in the hadith [Music] i am leaving behind
[11:54]the two weighty things the book of god and my anger bait
[11:58]and they shall never separate from one another until they meet me
[12:03]at the house at the pond of kautha and paradise what does
[12:06]this mean when rasool allah says they shall never separate from one
[12:12]another now this hadith is accepted in sahih muslim muslim he says
[12:17]the book and the family of the prophets now there's another one
[12:22]of the one of the other books they come and he says
[12:26]even though that hadith is lower in rank even according to the
[12:33]sunni scholars lower in rank than sahih muslim but you find some
[12:37]people they refer to that hadith and ignoring the one that says
[12:41]even though it's higher and ranked according to their standards in our
[12:44]standards it's very clear kitab allah [Music] wants us to have an
[12:56]interpreter to the quran that's like going and saying i read the
[13:00]textbook for the medical school i went i went to the medical
[13:05]school textbooks i read them and now i'm a doctor does that
[13:08]make sense no you need someone to explain it for you you
[13:12]need someone to teach you you need someone to show you to
[13:17]clarify things for you can you come and just say i'm a
[13:18]doctor because i read this textbook no you can't same with the
[13:25]quran the quran allah sent us the quran but allah also sent
[13:31]us guides individuals who will explain the quran and who was the
[13:35]first professor of the quran who was the first person who was
[13:42]tasked with interpreting the quran rasulallah the first was rasulallah he had
[13:49]two tasks he had one job which is deliver the quran to
[13:54]the people the quran is being revealed onto his heart and then
[13:57]he would deliver it to the people but he also has another
[14:01]task of explaining and interpreting the verses in the quran and this
[14:06]is by the command of allah allah says in the quran so
[14:19]that you clarify so that you teach people so that you show
[14:26]people the way and allah also says whatever the prophet the messenger
[14:34]orders you to do then you have to do it so this
[14:38]is why the words of rasulallah are upon us the words of
[14:45]the of the infallible of the prophets are proof upon us today
[14:49]i find some people muslims they come and they you tell them
[14:51]this is they say no no this is not mentioned in the
[14:56]quran okay it's not mentioned in the quran what does that mean
[14:59]they say no only bring me verses in the quran this is
[15:03]a wrong attitude when you became a muslim what did you say
[15:09]you said allah so this is why allah wants us to take
[15:27]the quran and also take the interpreters of the quran after rasulullah
[15:31]comes the position of the advent where allah tells us [Music] you
[15:46]have to follow the family of the prophets why just because no
[15:51]allah is not after nepotism the prophet was not after nepotism want
[15:59]us to follow specific group of people because they are the true
[16:06]interpreters of the [Music] and this is a hadith narrated by a
[16:20]nisai in his khasa a hadith so this is a sunni tradition
[16:27]by a nasa one of the sahab one of the six books
[16:29]that they consider the correct books he says [Music] so the prophets
[16:48]he came out and the sandal strap of his sandals had broken
[16:52]loose so he says he handed over he tossed his sandals to
[17:05]imam ali so that imam ali could fix the sandal of rasulallah
[17:11]and this is the relationship between imam ali and just like a
[17:16]father son he tells him do this for me and there's no
[17:18]shame in helping and being there for rasulullah and then he's sitting
[17:25]and he's fixing the sandals of the prophets he says a statement
[17:31]he says a person that will have to fight people over the
[17:47]interpretation of the quran just as i was thought and i had
[17:52]to fight people over the revelation of the quran so i had
[17:54]rasulallah saying i had to fight people my struggle was the revelation
[17:58]one of you the struggle is the interpretation of the quran here
[18:04]so ada and this is mentioning this he says is it me
[18:16]or rasulullah [Music] referring to imam ali and this is a position
[18:31]made clear in front of all the muslims that it was it
[18:36]is going to be imam ali who interprets the quran and people
[18:41]are going to fight him people are going to wage war against
[18:43]him because of his interpretation of the quran and this is exactly
[18:47]what happened as soon as power came to him three wars were
[18:53]waged against him three wars he ruled for five years he was
[18:58]left in the house for over 20 years but as soon as
[19:00]as soon as the official power and authority came to him three
[19:07]wars were waged against him why because of the seal of the
[19:10]quran they all they all go back to the interpretation of the
[19:15]quran they all go back to the interpretation of the laws of
[19:20]the religion of islam now after imam ali this power this authority
[19:26]of interpreting the quran it goes to the rightful imam after imam
[19:34]al-assad imam al-hassan hussain and then [Music] now the imams they had
[19:44]brothers for example imam and kasim he had a brother abdullah when
[19:48]the imam said that passed away abdullah said i am the even
[19:53]within the family it happened but then how would people distinguish who
[20:00]was the rightful imam and who was the wrong imam by their
[20:02]knowledge by their knowledge this is clear today if you want to
[20:07]know who is the imam after the prophet see who was the
[20:09]most knowledgeable person after the prophet after the prophet who was the
[20:12]most knowledgeable person this is why he was the only one who
[20:22]says he was the only one who says ask me before you
[20:25]lose me he was the one who rasulullah says about him i
[20:31]am the city of knowledge and ali is the gate to that
[20:35]city and then after it goes on to the imam after imam
[20:39]who is appointed by allah one day he sees one of the
[20:49]muslims of that time a man by the name of atada tatada
[20:52]if any of you are familiar with the books of sunni tafsir
[20:58]you see the name is mentioned in every other hadith [Music] i
[21:17]heard that you are doing tafsil you are giving your own opinion
[21:22]of the quran so he says he says yes i am giving
[21:26]my tapsee of the quran and then the imam if you are
[21:37]giving your own opinion then you are going to mislead other people
[21:40]and mislead yourself if you're giving your own opinion then you are
[21:55]misguided and you are misguiding other people in the one who truly
[22:04]knows the quran is the one who the quran was speaking to
[22:08]them who was that and they had [Music] and this is only
[22:20]with the exclusive small group of people from the family of rasulullah
[22:30]and you do not have the knowledge of one letter in the
[22:34]quran how can you come and give tafsir of the quran this
[22:37]is why my dear brothers and sisters we said earlier the intro
[22:41]where all all muslims are united over the quran but the division
[22:46]is over the tafsir of the quran the interpretation of the quran
[22:50]and we're not allowed to give our own tafseer rasool allah [Music]
[22:59][Music] yeah i think this verse is saying this i think this
[23:05]verse is english who told you to think who told you to
[23:09]come and think like this the verse is the message of god
[23:13]what god is trying to tell you you have to find out
[23:17]what god is trying to tell you not what you wanted to
[23:20]say so here we have no right to do our own tafsir
[23:24]of the quran we have to get the tapsir from the rightful
[23:29]sources so now my dear brothers and sisters today you see there's
[23:36]different mentalities there's different groups of people one muslim one group of
[23:42]muslims they say no we follow exactly the tafsir that was given
[23:44]to us from rasulullah and then from imam ali and then from
[23:48]the imams and then there's another group of people that say no
[23:50]we don't need to see it i could understand the quran on
[23:52]my own and this started this movement started during the life of
[23:58]the prophets the prophet had not passed away yet and they began
[24:01]to interpret the quran on their own when the prophet was on
[24:07]his deathbed the prophet was on his deathbed he tells the muslims
[24:09]bring me a pen and a paper so that i tell you
[24:14]something that you shall never go astray one of them he says
[24:20]the book of god is sufficient for us we don't need interpretation
[24:25]the book of god is sufficient for us the man is hallucinating
[24:31]the man is dying he's hallucinating his mind is not there the
[24:34]book of god is enough for us that attitude is alive until
[24:39]today the attitude of rejecting and sidelining the proper mufasirin of the
[24:44]quran and saying we understand the quran on its own but now
[24:48]the question is is the quran sufficient to understand on its own
[24:53]understand islam on its own is the quran sufficient the answer is
[24:58]no today some non-muslims they come and they say i read the
[25:04]quran if i want to teach a non-muslim about islam i don't
[25:06]only give them the quran i give them the quran and i
[25:10]give them a book that explains the quran a book that explains
[25:13]the religion of islam because someone could read the quran verses of
[25:22]jihad verses of fighting verses of this and that and people could
[25:26]take the verses out of context and mislead themselves and mislead other
[25:32]people but this mentality this ideology that said the quran is enough
[25:39]for us and we don't need anything else they thought that they
[25:43]were preserving the quran they ended up losing the interpreters of the
[25:47]quran who are the debate and they ended up losing the quran
[25:53]itself because if you don't have the real interpretation of the quran
[25:56]you might have the letters of the quran you might have the
[26:00]words of the quran but the soul of the quran is not
[26:04]there this is why he says [Music] perhaps there's someone who's reciting
[26:12]the quran maybe you go and you see this person is reciting
[26:16]in a very beautiful voice you say masha allah but the quran
[26:20]is cursing this person day and night why because they misinterpreted the
[26:27]quran they changed the meaning of the quran and this is where
[26:31]you see the problem and the division rises amongst the muslims this
[26:35]is why this is such a major topic this is such a
[26:39]major issue it goes back to the interpretation of the quran because
[26:42]if you have the true and proper interpretation of the quran then
[26:46]you will have the quran and the meaning of the quran today
[26:52]a group of muslims they come and they say god has a
[26:57]body allah has a body allah has a face god has legs
[27:01]god has hands and this is mentioned in bukhari and these other
[27:06]books now is this something that we can accept no because allah
[27:12]says nothing resembles allah but they come and they take these verses
[27:16]for example the hand of god is above their hand they come
[27:21]and they say god has a literal hand just like my hand
[27:24]in your hand here the imams of the admit they say no
[27:28]yeah doesn't mean god has a physical hand it means god's power
[27:34]is above their power god's authority is above their authority or the
[27:38]other verse today people will look towards the face of god bukhari
[27:48]he mentions this hadith he says he told people you look at
[27:53]the full moon you see the full moon on the day of
[27:54]judgment you will see the face of god just like you see
[28:00]this full moon and this is something that has become a part
[28:02]of the belief system of the non-shias but we say no how
[28:06]can you limit how can you give god a face that's just
[28:11]like saying jesus is god you're given you're limiting god you're giving
[28:15]giving god a body an image a size he'll be taking a
[28:18]place at a time allah doesn't have a face like my face
[28:24]in your face so what does look towards the mercy of god
[28:33]they look towards the subhana another issue today all of this fight
[28:45]and wahabis attacking shia just three days ago in mashhad three shaykhs
[28:52]they were struck with a knife in the shrine of imam the
[28:55]person who came and he struck them and his name is al-muradi
[29:00]the same name of the man who struck amir and in the
[29:05]month of ramadan his name is he comes and he has a
[29:10]they brought out a link where does this come from this comes
[29:18]from not understanding because if you were if you had understood the
[29:24]quran you would not come and judge against millions of people and
[29:28]consider them kuffa consider them idol worshipers they come and they say
[29:36]yeah these people that are going and visiting the shrine of imam
[29:39]radha they go and they worship idols they come and they recite
[29:48]the verses of idols comparing what the shias are doing with what
[29:51]the idol worshipers were doing at that time there's a big difference
[29:54]there's a big difference they come and they say you can't do
[29:57]shafa'a because allah says in the quran that the idols they do
[30:04]not have shafa'a but yes allah also says [Music] some individuals will
[30:13]have by the permission of god yes an idol cannot do shafa
[30:16]intercede but rasulallah can do the imams of the albeit they can
[30:22]do shafa and my dear brothers and sisters there are many examples
[30:26]there are many examples one day abu hanifa he was sitting with
[30:32]imam sadiq and i'll conclude with this abu hanifa was sitting with
[30:35]imam sadiq and i'm sad it was eating once imam said finished
[30:40]he says alhamdulillah oh allah thank you this is from you and
[30:45]this is from your prophet rasulallah meaning the food is from god
[30:56]because you said the food is from god and the prophet and
[30:59]the food is only from god how can you say it's from
[31:04]rasulullah what's wrong with that so here are my dear brothers and
[31:35]sisters this issue goes back to the tafsir of the quran and
[31:37]the subsea of the quran is very important and we have to
[31:42]be very careful who we get our knowledge from who we learn
[31:46]from because it all goes back your religion will go back to
[31:50]the interpretation of the quran and we have to be very careful
[31:55]who we listen to today there are some very powerful speakers that
[31:59]are speaking but maybe they may be spewing poet poison you have
[32:04]to be careful who you're listening to allah says let every person
[32:11]look at their knowledge look at their food imam in battery [Music]
[32:15]let them look at their knowledge who they take it from and
[32:19]what it is so we have to be very careful where we
[32:24]get the tafsir of the quran from alhamdulillah foreign
