[0:06][Music] foreign [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] ah [Music] [Applause] [Music]
[1:23][Applause] [Music] muhammad i'd like to ask a very critical question a
[2:03]question which has the potential to shape our lives and influence every
[2:10]single decision that you and i make but before i ask the
[2:19]question and allow you to contemplate and to think about the answer
[2:23]you would like to give i want to share a story with
[2:28]you in the form of a hadith there was a person named
[2:33]younos he was a companion of our 8th imam now for reasons
[2:47]beyond the scope of this medjlis i don't want to talk about
[2:54]the back story but essentially this individual despite his proximity to the
[3:00]eighth imam despite the status and rank that he held with the
[3:07]imam of his time was the target of incessant attacks by his
[3:16]own community in other words imagine a scholar and it's not too
[3:20]difficult to imagine this but a scholar who is senior in his
[3:26]rank but who is the target of criticism by the shia community
[3:33]of the day many of them viewed him as being too harsh
[3:39]as being not fit for the role and so they criticized him
[3:47]in a very very harsh and merciless manner one day he is
[3:54]in the presence of imam al-assam when somebody knocks the door imam
[4:01]says to you to go and sit behind the curtain the imam
[4:07]obviously knows what is about to happen and so he sets the
[4:14]stage he says to eunice go sit behind that curtain and don't
[4:18]utter a word not a sound i want you to stand there
[4:21]when they open the door a group of shia come in and
[4:27]they come obviously they wanted to meet the imam and only later
[4:32]does it turn out that the reason the purpose of their visit
[4:35]was to wage yet another attack on who you so they came
[4:44]they sat there remember eunice is sitting behind the curtain and they
[4:49]launch their ambush against yunus he's this he's that he's not for
[4:56]the role the imam doesn't say a word they finish what they
[5:01]had to say they get up and leave as soon as they
[5:07]leave eunice emerges from behind the curtain as he was shedding tears
[5:14]crying imagine having people go to your imam and slander you and
[5:21]attack you he was crying at that point when he emerged the
[5:26]imam gave him words of solace he said to him what do
[5:33]you care what they say about you he said yep did you
[5:40]hear what they said all these attacks all this criticism the imam
[5:46]said to him what do you care about any of that imam
[5:53]as long as your imam is pleased with you [Music] does it
[5:58]even matter what other people think does it matter what they say
[6:03]now this is a badge of honor unlike any other the imam
[6:10]of your time telling you that i'm happy with you i'm pleased
[6:16]with you and so you can imagine how that would turn yunus
[6:19]of the abdul into the most energetic person on the face of
[6:24]the planet being told by his imam that he's pleased with him
[6:31]the question i want to ask is this is your imam pleased
[6:39]with you is imam al-hussein pleased with you is the imam of
[6:43]our time pleased with you now before you rush to conclusions and
[6:48]answer that question whether it be in the positive or the negative
[6:53]before you say yes i think my imam is pleased with me
[6:58]because one two three four five six seven eight nine ten or
[7:01]some of you might say no i don't think my imam is
[7:05]pleased with me because of all this laundry list of reasons or
[7:10]you might be one of those people who errs on the side
[7:12]of caution and says well i'm not entirely sure sometimes he's pleased
[7:18]with with me sometimes i know for a fact that he's not
[7:21]before you answer this question we need to be asking another question
[7:26]which is foundational and paves the way for us to understanding and
[7:32]responding to this question in a better manner what's that question what
[7:37]are the parameters by which you can figure out whether your imam
[7:41]is pleased with you or not what exactly is the criteria how
[7:48]do you determine obviously gut feeling goes a long way sometimes we
[7:55]just know deep down especially when the signs don't point to the
[8:01]right direction and so you have this gut feeling that i know
[8:05]there is something wrong something's wrong with me i don't believe the
[8:11]imam would be happy with my lifestyle with my choices right so
[8:15]gut feeling does help but it doesn't give a definitive answer does
[8:19]it in order to give a definitive answer you need to know
[8:26]the criteria you need to know the parameters you need to have
[8:28]the measuring stick the ruler you need to have a means by
[8:33]which you gauge the imam's pleasure or displeasure with you am i
[8:40]right so ultimately as we said last night people's opinions of you
[8:47][Music] shouldn't matter that's not to say that you could live your
[8:55]life not caring about what other people think sometimes you need to
[9:01]abide by certain rules that society sets for you especially if certain
[9:08]acts or behaviors might cause you to look bad right if you
[9:14]do certain things that would reflect negatively on you as an individual
[9:18]or as a community or as a religion then you need to
[9:23]be mindful of that but people's opinions of you as to whether
[9:27]or not you're a good person or a bad person that doesn't
[9:31]really change the reality of who you are am i right in
[9:36]fact you might think you're a good person but people might view
[9:43]you as being not so ideal not so good or it could
[9:49]be the other way around people might perceive you as being a
[9:51]good moral virtuous individual right this happens a lot of times in
[9:56]religious communities masha allah this brother masha allah look at this sister
[10:02]but in reality you know deep down that your life is all
[10:06]over the place so people's opinions and perceptions of you don't change
[10:12]the reality as a matter of fact in that same hadith in
[10:15]that same story imam he says to him he gives him a
[10:24]test he says imagine if in my hand in my palm i
[10:29]was holding a gemstone a precious stone and people said to me
[10:40]that this is a worthless pebble would it change the nature of
[10:45]the gemstone it wouldn't conversely if i was holding a worthless pebble
[10:50]a rock and people said to me what a beautiful diamond you
[10:55]have in your hand does that change the fact that this is
[10:59]a worthless pebble not a diamond yunus responded by saying no it
[11:05]doesn't the imam is giving you a very important means by which
[11:10]you can evaluate yourself he's saying that people's views and perceptions don't
[11:16]change who you actually are so the question once again is what
[11:23]are the parameters by which we can determine whether my imam is
[11:30]pleased with me because at the end of the day as we
[11:34]said last night the purpose the reason that we gather around in
[11:40]these commemorations is to align ourselves with imam al-hussein it is to
[11:46]get closer to the ark of salvation to the point where the
[11:50]imam could then save us and so if that's the objective for
[11:56]our gatherings and our programs we need to know what the criteria
[12:03]is with which we can determine the imam's pleasure or displeasure with
[12:08]us the first criteria that i'd like to share with you tonight
[12:10]is this to know whether allah subhanahu ta'ala is pleased with you
[12:18]and therefore the imam of the time is pleased with you you
[12:23]need to see whether you are pleased with allah and his will
[12:31]and determination for you and your life sounds like a cliche but
[12:36]bear with me this is more difficult than it sounds i'll reiterate
[12:40]to know whether your imam is pleased with you ask yourself this
[12:46]are you pleased with your imam are you pleased with god's will
[12:51]and destiny and what he has decided to happen in your life
[12:58]are you you'd be surprised how displeased many of us are even
[13:08]with the most basic and fundamental things in our lives if you
[13:11]ask a group of people especially nowadays young men and women in
[13:16]school for instance if you present them with this question are you
[13:22]happy with your gender that's assigned to you are you if you
[13:26]say to the boys are you happy that you're a boy if
[13:31]you say to the girls are you happy that you're a girl
[13:34]and not a boy you'd be shocked how many people whether this
[13:42]is based and grounded in some deep and ingrained idea some kind
[13:53]of gender dysphoria or a mental illness or it could just be
[13:57]a mental exercise that i wish i was not the gender that's
[14:06]been assigned to me you'd be shocked how many people are not
[14:09]happy with their gender you'd be shocked how many people would say
[14:15]to you why did god even create me in other words the
[14:17]very most basic fact of our lives the fact that we exist
[14:25]is something many people are displeased with let alone the details let
[14:32]alone the minute differences between individuals it is truly shocking brothers and
[14:38]sisters how many of us contemplate this idea over and over again
[14:44]throughout the course of our lives why this why that which is
[14:50]in its distilled and simple form an objection to the will of
[14:57]allah subhanahu wa ta'ala why did god create me i might ask
[15:00]this question because i'm trying to figure out the purpose of my
[15:02]life which is fine but sometimes we find ourselves asking this question
[15:10]in objection in denial of what has been handed to me why
[15:15]did god create me to begin with why am i a man
[15:19]why am i a woman why am i this national nationality why
[15:22]am i this ethnicity why am i rich why am i poor
[15:27]not the rich mind you because when good things happen in our
[15:30]lives there is this sense of me deserving this sense of entitlement
[15:40]when a good thing happens i deserve this which is why it's
[15:44]happening it's not that god is testing me or blessing me or
[15:51]any other kind of criteria it's the fact that i deserve what
[15:56]i have today i've worked hard to build my life the way
[16:01]it is today that's when things go our way that's when we
[16:04]experience what we would refer to or define as success whether it's
[16:09]actual success or not is another discussion for another day but when
[16:12]things happen that are favorable to us there is a sense of
[16:18]entitlement i deserve this but the second things go the other way
[16:23]when things are unfavorable to us when they're not according to our
[16:30]taste suddenly we object to allah subhanahu ta'ala why this why that
[16:34]what did i do to deserve this how many times have you
[16:38]heard people say that so at the most fundamental level we have
[16:46]a major problem brothers and sisters we're not happy we're not pleased
[16:51]with what allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has determined for us or has
[16:54]given us we call it means determination it means what allah has
[17:05]destined for me and qatar means what allah has measured for me
[17:10]you see the problem is even more fundamental it goes back to
[17:17]the very core of our beliefs because if i believed that allah
[17:23]subhanahu wa ta'ala was the creator of the universe in other words
[17:28]i submit and resign to the fact that he is the creator
[17:32]that's a step in the right direction and that's something most people
[17:37]resign to most people agree with this that god or some supernatural
[17:44]deity however you might define him created the world because to not
[17:50]subscribe to creationism is the most absurd philosophical position anyone can take
[17:55]which is why atheists are a tiny tiny minority in the world
[18:00]you'd really have to be a to be an atheist because you're
[18:05]trying to prove a negative you actually believe there is no way
[18:09]this universe was created by a supernatural creator you believe that there
[18:17]is nothing that could ever change your mind about the fact that
[18:20]god created the universe it is the most absurd thing i have
[18:22]a series on atheism on youtube which you can look it up
[18:26]absolutely mindless insanity but most people agree that the world was created
[18:35]and that it was created by an all-knowing all-powerful omniscient creator an
[18:41]omnipotent omnipotent creator which is a step in the right direction now
[18:46]as believers who submit to the fact that the creator of the
[18:53]universe if he has the power to create all of this to
[18:59]put together this marvelous wonder to design a universe that is so
[19:05]incredible so breathtaking so stunning so beautiful so complex so intricate you
[19:14]see with each of these adjectives you can easily submit to the
[19:22]names of allah subhana wa he would have to be all-knowing to
[19:25]create all of this he would have to be all-powerful to bring
[19:30]about all of this he would have to be wise to ensure
[19:35]that this universe functions in this seamless and incredibly beautiful and harmonious
[19:41]manner all of these names and attributes of allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[19:45]come naturally they're not additions to the fact that he is a
[19:51]creator if he is a creator and he is without a speck
[19:52]of doubt then all of these attributes become obvious to anyone who
[19:59]who thinks even for a moment allah subhanahu ta'ala speaks about those
[20:03]who wonder at the creation of the heavens and the earth and
[20:09]they say rabb those who ponder and think and contemplate on the
[20:19]creation of the heavens and the earth the natural consequence the natural
[20:24]response of this contemplation is what this could not have been created
[20:35]in vain this isn't something that just pops into existence without a
[20:40]purpose surely there is a purpose surely all of this has a
[20:44]meaning sublime art thou and i'll talk about the sublime nature of
[20:56]allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and why tasbih is the inevitable reaction of
[21:05]anyone who contemplates on the creation of the heavens and the earth
[21:09]right but what happens is when you look at all of this
[21:16]you marvel at this incredibly beautiful stunning breathtaking creation of allah subhanahu
[21:23]wa ta'ala you are filled with all and you are filled with
[21:28]fear of allah fear meaning this sense that he is so great
[21:36]and i'm so minuscule i'm so infinitesimal i'm so tiny i am
[21:43]nothing i am literally less than a speck in the vastness of
[21:46]the cosmos and so this fills you with fear about your role
[21:53]your responsibility towards this creator as great as he is the james
[22:00]webb telescope which was launched a few months back and started sending
[22:04]images some of you might have heard about this it's again the
[22:11]first image that was sent by the james webb telescope i don't
[22:15]know if you got to see it but the very first image
[22:18]represents a person holding a needle imagine if you held a needle
[22:26]at arm's length at the top at the very pin of that
[22:29]needle imagine there's like a speck or a dot or something and
[22:34]you point it in any random direction around you that image which
[22:43]contains billions of galaxies represents that head of the pin on your
[22:50]needle in other words everything around you is not included in that
[22:56]picture these billions of galaxies are that tiny speck this incredible universe
[23:03]was put together by this creator surely he is wise enough to
[23:11]make determinations in my life that are in my favor even if
[23:19]i fail to grasp the philosophy behind it surely if he chooses
[23:25]to put this here and to put that there he knows what
[23:31]he's doing again this is just looking at the universe at the
[23:36]cosmos look at your own body look at how things run so
[23:42]incredibly harmoniously and beautifully the average human body contains 30 to 40
[23:46]trillion cells all of these emerge from a single cell allah says
[23:59]he says have you seen how life emerges have you seen how
[24:06]the single celled organism begins to grow and develop until it becomes
[24:15]40 trillion cells working together in absolute harmony and synchronicity who did
[24:21]this allah says did you create this did the mother and the
[24:31]father bring about all this complexity all this beauty all this harmony
[24:34]who did all of that who designed all of this who engineered
[24:39]this the human brain the human heart every single honestly try this
[24:45]exercise choose any random organ in your body and google it and
[24:49]just write this the miracle of fill the blank how this tiny
[24:57]muscle in your chest pumps 80 000 liters of blood per day
[25:03]how does that happen where does it derive its energy from from
[25:09]food what kind of factory what kind of process converts vegetables and
[25:18]plants and animals and these kinds of things into the energy that
[25:23]pumps 80 000 liters of blood across your body every single day
[25:28]if you leave if you have the heart functioning on its own
[25:33]pumping on its own on a table right it'll squirt the blood
[25:37]30 feet up that's 10 meters how does it how can a
[25:41]tiny muscle do that for 50 60 70 80 90 years how
[25:48]does it do all of that how is it that when our
[25:53]bodies disintegrate and cells die every single day 30 billion new cells
[25:58]are made by the human body 30 billion a day and that's
[26:04]not including all the times that the body needs to repair things
[26:08]it needs to heal itself it needs look up the miracle of
[26:14]the eyebrows the miracle of the eyelashes the miracle of every single
[26:18]part in your body and what it does and how it functions
[26:22]and how it works again with complete harmony and synchronicity with the
[26:25]rest of the human body producing you after all of this we
[26:34]still have a doubt as to why this happened to me surely
[26:40]the one who created all of it knows better than i do
[26:45]yeah it might not make sense to me at first just like
[26:50]when a child is forced by his parents to go to school
[26:53]a child using every fiber of his being every cell in his
[27:00]brain will say why the heck do i need to go to
[27:03]school every day i have to get up in the morning go
[27:10]to school study work hard come back why explain this to me
[27:13]and not a single parent can actually explain it to the satisfaction
[27:17]of the child so the child will nag the child will want
[27:22]to quit school will want to just goof off and play video
[27:30]video games every day and that's exactly what we do because when
[27:32]we see a trial we see a test we see a problem
[27:35]we see a bump in the road our first reaction is why
[27:40]just like that nagging child we don't get it but we need
[27:48]to go back to the fundamentals brothers and sisters go back to
[27:51]the basics which is if allah is if he is all of
[28:07]these things then surely he knows best right it's the famous hadith
[28:13]when somebody goes to imam assad salaam and he didn't look too
[28:18]happy he looked visibly upset what's wrong what's happened to you he
[28:26]said well my wife just gave birth that it's a girl and
[28:30]you think this is something that's only happened back in those days
[28:36]but unfortunately even in our communities in this day and age so
[28:42]many families feel that it's some kind of a curse if allah
[28:46]subhanahu ta'ala gave them a girl which islam [Music] 14 centuries ago
[28:53]the holy prophet came and said look a girl is a blessing
[28:57]a girl is a means by which allah subhanahu wa ta'ala elevates
[29:05]you you should be happy you should be ecstatic that allah has
[29:09]blessed you with a girl i did a recent series of videos
[29:15]about all the hadith in which the imams praised the idea of
[29:20]having girls and the prophet i'll just mention this one the hadith
[29:25]says the prophet's lineage is from who other than a girl known
[29:35]as allah so he comes to the imam and says that it's
[29:48]a girl the imam said to him he said a few things
[29:53]one of them was this he said let me ask you this
[29:54]question if allah subhanahu wa ta'ala said to you that you're going
[30:04]to have a child would you like me to choose the gender
[30:07]of the child or do you want to choose the gender of
[30:11]the child yourself what would you say he said of course i
[30:16]would say oh allah you choose for me he said well allah
[30:20]did choose for you he chose a girl god says to musa
[30:28]he says [Applause] [Music] he says no one has sought proximity to
[30:40]me god says through an act that is better than being pleased
[30:52]with what i have chosen for him you want to get close
[30:55]to allah subhanahu wa ta'ala additional acts of worship are great salatul
[31:03]is beautiful all these things are great but you really want to
[31:08]get close to allah be pleased with what he has chosen for
[31:12]you again whether it's gender dysphoria whether it's the idea of why
[31:20]did god create me to begin with why does he want me
[31:22]to be alive or when you get to the details so many
[31:28]sins are committed because of the fact that we are not pleased
[31:33]with what allah has chosen for us all these cosmetic surgeries am
[31:39]i right why is my nose the shape that it is be
[31:43]pleased with what allah has chosen for you he's chosen for you
[31:50]to look this unique way be happy with it the shape of
[31:54]my body the shape of my this that all these things happen
[31:59]because we're simply not pleased we're not happy whereas a person who
[32:07]knows allah subhanahu wa to allah to be good to be merciful
[32:13]to be all-knowing to have a grand plan and that grand plan
[32:19]is for all of us to enter paradise this is the purpose
[32:23]of creation again i'll talk about that on another night if we
[32:27]believe this to be the the the truth to be true then
[32:32]you leave it all to him your actions obviously matter where you
[32:40]make a choice you can't blame it on allah but wherever you
[32:45]do not make a choice and allah chooses for you leave it
[32:50]to him just say you know better than i do why am
[32:56]i poor so many people ask especially in underdeveloped countries especially in
[33:00]countries in the middle east which are now going through incredible difficulty
[33:05]and pain economic slumps and downturns crashing currencies all these things that
[33:10]are happening right before our two eyes a lot of people find
[33:14]themselves asking this existential question why are we like this why are
[33:19]we poor listen to this beautiful hadith by amir al-mu'min in whether
[33:29]you're poor or rich is determined when he says when you are
[33:40]raised to face your reckoning before allah that's when you know whether
[33:44]you're poor or rich you look at someone like elon musk with
[33:52]his incredible wealth that's not a rich person that's the kind of
[33:57]wealth that you can't transfer you can transfer it from one account
[34:03]to another yeah but you can't transfer it from this world into
[34:07]the next right that's the kind of wealth that is nothing but
[34:10]a curse it's a wealth that's kept behind vaults and not spent
[34:17]where it's supposed to be spent not given to those who are
[34:21]needy or poor in fact the reason they have this kind of
[34:24]wealth is because the of the exploitation of the poor the reason
[34:28]they're so rich is because they take advantage of those who are
[34:32]powerless it's because they haven't given the wealth where they're supposed to
[34:37]that's why the hadith says that up to a certain cap you
[34:43]cannot increase your wealth except through being stingy and miserly or through
[34:48]haram up to a certain cap beyond that there has to be
[34:55]an element of haram involved right but ultimately they keep all this
[35:02]wealth behind these iron vaults and then when they don't know what
[35:07]to do with it they spend it on space exploration they spend
[35:10]countless amounts of money on trying to prolong life as the two
[35:17]co-founders of google have been doing for the last decade or so
[35:21]trying to fund studies and get scientists and labs and so forth
[35:24]because they feel like they need to keep alive as long as
[35:27]they can and so what do we do let's find a way
[35:30]to cryogenically freeze the human body so that we could live for
[35:36]more than the average human lifespan 200 years 300 years whatever it
[35:41]takes whatever it takes to live just a little bit longer and
[35:43]enjoy my wealth a little bit more and again as i said
[35:48]when all things fail let's try and squander hundreds of billions of
[35:51]dollars on you know missions to mars and on trying to explore
[35:57]the outer space and whatnot everybody cheers them everybody claps for them
[36:00]wow what great endeavors adventures they're trying to advance the human species
[36:06]they're already trying to escape this planet having completely destroyed it already
[36:12]trying to build outposts on mars so that when the time comes
[36:19]an environmental collapse takes everybody they're able to actually escape all of
[36:22]this and find a way to live life on some distant planet
[36:26]the point is none of this is worth anything says that only
[36:33]on the day of judgment will you know who's actually rich and
[36:36]who's poor remember the hadith of it's a favorite line of mine
[36:42]i might have mentioned it before when the agent of uthman the
[36:46]third khalifa he came to abu dharr trying to buy his conscience
[36:52]they were trying to silence this man abu dharr was a very
[36:58]vocal critic of uthman the reason he was exiled into jabal the
[37:03]south of lebanon lebanon became a shia especially became shia at the
[37:09]hands of abu dharr the reason he was exiled there was because
[37:13]they couldn't handle him he was being too critical of the ruling
[37:18]regime in medina and so eventually the governor of jabal sent a
[37:25]message to uthman saying hey this guy is converting the entire country
[37:28]man send him back to wherever he came from so they exiled
[37:32]him back to medina at the end of it all when they
[37:35]couldn't figure out how to silence him uthman resorted to what every
[37:40]tyrant does you either entice your critics or you threaten them right
[37:46]and so he began with the enticement he sent him his slave
[37:52]with a large sum of money again you've heard the story i'll
[37:59]make it short he said to him i have a gift from
[38:02]the khalifa and this is it it's a bag full of gold
[38:09]coins uthman gets into this back and forth uh discussion with him
[38:14]saying what is this for why is he sent it to me
[38:15]has he sent every single citizen a bag full of gold coins
[38:18]or is it just me what's so special about me is this
[38:22]his money or is this from the muslim treasury where did he
[38:24]get this from because from what i know uthman doesn't have this
[38:27]kind of money so he kind of mops the guy with the
[38:32]floor eventually he says to him listen take the money i know
[38:36]you need it you're poor he took a peek through the door
[38:40]and he noticed how the children of abu dharr were hungry he
[38:45]said tim you're poor take it at this point there is this
[38:51]vein in a buddha that popped he said to him you're calling
[38:58]me poor and i am the richest person in the world i
[39:06]have the guardianship and the william you're calling me poor abu dharr
[39:14]ultimately died of starvation and yet he sees himself as the richest
[39:23]person because he has the love of brothers and sisters whether i'm
[39:28]rich or poor whether i'm white or black whether i was born
[39:33]into this family or that family all of these determinations that allah
[39:36]subhanahu wa ta'ala made for me i should be pleased with them
[39:41]i should be happy with them why because allah knows best because
[39:45]at some point in the future there may come a day if
[39:48]i mature enough like a child who grows older and then realizes
[39:53]why his parents were sending him to school every day i might
[39:58]mature to the point where i realized that all of these twists
[40:00]and turns all these trials and tribulations all of these pains and
[40:04]difficulties that i faced were in my favor they were good for
[40:09]me so next time you find yourself having the urge to say
[40:12]oh allah why are you testing me like this what did i
[40:18]do to deserve this instead say oh allah you deem me worthy
[40:21]of this difficult test thank you thank you now help me overcome
[40:31]this trial now help me come out at the end with flying
[40:37]colors because you can do that i know you can help me
[40:41]i i know you can support me so to ask this question
[40:47]and i'll sum up is my imam pleased with me requires you
[40:53]to say or to ask another question am i pleased with allah
[40:57]subhanahu wa ta'ala am i pleased with what he has given me
[40:59]because if you reach that level of riva because it's truly incredible
[41:18]if you examine the words of not just imam al-hussein not just
[41:26]his inner circle of zainab but also the entire camp of imam
[41:32]al-hussein in spite of all of the unspeakable tragedies that they faced
[41:38]there is not a single hint of displeasure with the will of
[41:45]allah not once all you see is the opposite affirmations that we're
[41:50]happy with this we're pleased with this imam al-hussein saying i am
[41:58]pleased with whatever pleases you there is no one worthy of worship
[42:05]than you or when imam al-hussein says after the murder of his
[42:17]six-month-old infant oh allah if this pleases you take as much as
[42:23]pleases you some say that when imam al-hussein buried his infant son
[42:29]in the ground he was seen shaking his clothes like this in
[42:34]other words he's saying oh allah i've given everything in your way
[42:38]there's literally nothing i have to give you ladies all of these
[42:54]are affirmations that they were pleased with with what allah determined for
[42:59]them and chose for them and it's at that moment that allah
[43:04]gives you so much more he gives you certainty he gives you
[43:09]proximity to him he gives you all of these spiritual gifts that
[43:15]we so desperately need my dear brothers and sisters one of the
[43:20]greatest manifestations of one who was pleased with what allah gave them
[43:27]is uml think about the fact that married multiple lives and yet
[43:35]the single most famous after fatima [Music] are the children of um
[44:00]how does this happen it happens when you have surrendered your will
[44:06]to the will of allah subhanahu wa when your entire focus is
[44:12]the pleasure of the imam of your time um had no worry
[44:17]no concern in her life other than for amir al-mu'min to be
[44:21]pleased with her and after the imam imam hassan and ultimately imam
[44:28]and hussain because she knew that her fate was tied with that
[44:35]of imam al-hussein she knew that her children's fate was tied with
[44:40]imam al-hussein and his companions which is why she raised her children
[44:45]in order to die on the day of imagine looking at your
[44:52]children as they grow older and older and all you see is
[44:56]the prophecy that they will be murdered on the plains of karbala
[45:03]that they're only being born so that they die in the way
[45:06]of abba hussain on the plains of karbala this is what makes
[45:13]so special and it's why when the caravan returned to medina was
[45:22]dispatched by imam to tell of the tragedy jose your city i
[46:26]where are you going none of you bothered to follow him everyone
[46:37]gathers around to hear the news from what is it i hear
[46:58]you're saying mentioning my son jose why did you just mention jose
[47:06]bishop says i asked who is this woman and so he started
[47:31]off by mentioning her son's names one after the other with each
[47:36]of those names may my sons and everyone why are you talking
[48:01]to me about my sons tell me about the son of father
[48:16]may allah increase your reward why jose [Applause] now you can begin
[49:29]to imagine what happens before i go into she says i wish
[50:24]to see my sons it is at that point that she is
[50:30]told look in that direction that is your son she looks at
[50:33]her boy then she says where is my son she is told
[50:41]to look in the direction of the right flank of the throne
[50:46]of allah she looks in that direction she sees a ghost she
[50:51]sees something that is not very is we [Music] make the intention
[52:05]to recite this tiara on behalf of the imam of our time
[52:08]who is now mourning and crying day and night shedding tears out
[52:14]of his eyes perhaps this will be solace to his broken heart
[52:22]insha'allah m foreign foreign
