[3:03]the twenty fifth of muharram marks the martyrdom anniversary of imam ali
[3:12]ibn al hussein imam zain al abideen alaihi salam the son of
[3:20]imam al hussein the only surviving son of imam al hussein on
[3:26]the day of ashura imam zain al abideen was born in the
[3:34]year thirty eight after hijra two years before assassination and the martyrdom
[3:41]of imam al mumineen imam ali ibn abi talib so he lived
[3:46]during the life of imam al mumineen for two years and during
[3:52]the imam of imam al hassan for ten years and during the
[3:58]imam of imam al hussain for also ten years or for meaning
[4:07]that the day of ashura imam zain al abideen was 22 years
[4:11]old around 22 or 23 years old and imam zain al abideen
[4:17]was not the oldest son of imam al hussein but he was
[4:22]the only surviving son of imam al hussein and he was the
[4:28]chosen imam by allah subhanahu wa ta'ala so therefore on the day
[4:34]of ashura imam al hussain kept imam zain al abideen protected when
[4:41]imam al hussain called for help the narration says that imam zain
[4:46]al abideen was sick he was holding his cane in one hand
[4:50]and he carried a sword in the other hand by imam al
[4:54]hussein he tells uncle thoom his sister he tells her keep him
[5:00]in the tent because if he is killed then there will be
[5:04]no one remaining from al muhammad and he is the chosen imam
[5:09]after me he is the imam that is chosen by allah as
[5:14]zawajal and allah chooses who the imams are we believe that the
[5:20]imams are by allah's choice people cannot gather and pick to choose
[5:26]who is the representative of god it is allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[5:30]who chooses his representatives on earth and allah states in the quran
[5:50]allah says and we chose them we appointed them as imams they
[5:59]guide by the order of allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and they were
[6:11]inspired by allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to do the good wherever they
[6:16]are they are blessed individuals and they pray they stand for prayer
[6:32]and they give zakat and they were worshippers they are individuals who
[6:39]are worshippers and we see that all of these qualities they fit
[6:47]in imam zain al abideen all of these qualities they apply to
[6:53]this great imam imam zain al abideen was known to be a
[7:01]man who used to do good wherever he was and they were
[7:12]worshippers imam zain al abideen he is titled this name was given
[7:18]to him by rasulullah the adornment of the worshippers rasulullah he says
[7:29]my son imam my grandson hussein is an imam and his son
[7:34]ali ibn al hussein of course this was before the birth of
[7:38]imam zainul abideen and his son ali ibn al hussain is an
[7:42]imam who on the day of judgment there will be a caller
[7:47]who will call out where is the adornment of the worshippers so
[7:54]zayn al abideen ali ibn al hussain will stand and go to
[7:58]paradise this is the hadith of rasoolallah this is why one of
[8:04]his names is zayn al abideen another title for imam zainul abideen
[8:10]is a sajad the one who was always in prostration always in
[8:17]prostration this was the imam alaihi salam he was always prostrating to
[8:22]allah subhanahu wa ta'ala always doing sujood this is why a third
[8:29]title for imam zain al abideen is the one who is the
[8:34]the fat refers to the knees of the camel the knees of
[8:41]the camel are so rough because the camel is in the desert
[8:45]and when the camel rests it places its knees on the hot
[8:49]sand of the desert so the knees of the camels are very
[8:54]rough they call imam zainul abideen his forehead was as rough as
[9:00]the knees of the camels meaning that he used to do sujood
[9:04]so much where his forehead became it was changed because of his
[9:10]prostration to allah it is said that it is said that jabir
[9:20]ibn abdullah al ansari he goes to the imam he goes to
[9:25]imam zain al abideen and he tells him oh my master you
[9:31]don't need to do this to yourself you don't need to worship
[9:34]and pray in this way you're hurting yourself by doing this so
[9:39]imam zainul abideen he tells him don't haven't you heard about my
[9:44]grandfather rasulullah allah tells him that allah has forgiven him for everything
[9:51]yet when they used to come and tell rasulullah why are you
[9:55]worshipping so much rasulullah would worship in a way where his feet
[9:59]would swell from his standing to allah in the middle of the
[10:04]night so then rasulullah would reply should i not be a thankful
[10:12]servant to my lord he says i worship allah to thank allah
[10:18]subhanahu wa ta'ala for all of the blessings that he has given
[10:22]me we see that the life of imam zain al abideen was
[10:28]shaped by the environment that he lived in and every imam was
[10:33]sent to their own group of people based on the circumstances that
[10:38]they dealt with during their times for example imam saddiq he had
[10:45]the opportunity to educate people he had the opportunity to sit in
[10:49]the mambar on the mambar and preach why because of the circumstances
[10:55]because of the times amir al mu'mineen he had his own circumstances
[11:00]imam al hassan and imam al hussain they had their own circumstances
[11:05]similarly imam zain al abideen alaihi salaam was living in some of
[11:10]the most difficult circumstances for any person imam zain al abideen alaihi
[11:16]salaam he became an imam at the age of 22 and he
[11:24]was living during the reign of bani ummayah that cruel tyrannical government
[11:32]that had the audacity to murder the grandson of rasulullah they murdered
[11:39]imam al hussain there was no red lines for bani ummayah if
[11:44]they killed the grandson of rasulullah that means killing the great grandson
[11:49]of rasulullah was going to be something very easy for them there
[11:53]nothing is going to stop them from doing any of that yazid
[11:57]yazid the son of muawiyah the grandson of abu sufyan he came
[12:02]to power and he ruled for three years the first year he
[12:07]killed imam al hussain in the middle of daylight in front of
[12:12]the whole world in the land of karbala the second year there
[12:17]was a rebellion in medina the city of rasulullah rebelled against yazid
[12:23]because of his actions so yazid he sent an army by the
[12:28]name of a man by the name of muslim ibn akbah he
[12:32]entered into medina with his army and he sacked the city of
[12:37]rasulullah killing hundreds and thousands of people where he had a direct
[12:45]order from yazid that madina is halal upon you for three days
[12:51]meaning let your soldiers go and do whatever they want to do
[12:55]many of the sahaba were killed many of those who were the
[12:58]companions of rasulullah were killed in that event it's called waqa'at al
[13:02]harrah where the soldiers of bani ummayah they attacked medina and it
[13:08]is said that after that event the man cannot guarantee that his
[13:12]daughter was a virgin after that event because the soldiers from sham
[13:17]they came and they were assaulting the woman and the children and
[13:21]everyone who was in medina and then they forced everyone in medina
[13:26]to give a bayah to yazid but this time not only accepting
[13:32]and agreeing that yazid is the khalifa yazid also took the bayah
[13:37]from them that everyone is his slave he wanted to enslave people
[13:43]this is why imam al hussain stood against a man like yazid
[13:46]because yazid crossed all red lines after yazid after that event after
[13:53]the second year he attacked medina the third year another companion of
[13:59]the prophet by the name of abdullah ibn zubayr he rebelled against
[14:04]yazid and abdullah ibn zubayr of course he had his own ill
[14:09]intentions he didn't go to support imam al hussein he wanted imam
[14:14]al hussein to leave so that he could so that all the
[14:17]lights all the light and attention will be on him he was
[14:20]in mecca he declared his own caliphate and he rebelled against bani
[14:24]ummayah so bani ummayah that same army al muslim ibn akbah they
[14:31]go and they march from medina all the way to mecca of
[14:35]course muslim ibn akbah he died on the way and this time
[14:40]the army is led by a man by the name of al
[14:43]hussain ibn numer this army they go and they begin to catapult
[14:48]the kaaba they begin to attack masjid al haram abdullah ibn zubayr
[14:53]he goes and he he takes refuge in masjid al haram thinking
[14:57]that no one is going to come and attack the kaaba no
[14:59]one's going to come and attack masjid al haram the holy sacred
[15:02]house of allah they come and they begin to throw fire catapulting
[15:08]the kaaba destroying the kaaba in that event this was what yazid
[15:13]was doing of course immediately after that event the army of al
[15:19]hussain ibn numer they hear news that yazid has died in damascus
[15:25]then his son muawiyah ibn yazid he comes to power muawiyah does
[15:29]not last very long he does not want to continue this rule
[15:33]so now bani ummayah the rule is shifted from the children of
[15:37]abu sufyan to marwan ibn al hakam who was also from bani
[15:41]umaya marwan he goes and he takes the caliphate and marwan rules
[15:47]for a few months or a very short time and then after
[15:51]him his children his children they take the rule and the reign
[15:56]of bloodshed and oppression continues throughout the life of imam zainul abidin
[16:02]marwan all of these individuals al walid ibn abdul malik these were
[16:12]all individuals that were very far from allah very far from the
[16:17]quran and imam zain al abideen he has to be an imam
[16:22]and he has to preach during these in the during the lives
[16:26]of these individuals it was during the life of imam zain al
[16:30]abideen that a man by the name of al hajjaj ibn yusuf
[16:33]al thakafi he comes and he takes power and he becomes the
[16:38]governor of iraq and he butchers and he kills anyone that stands
[16:42]in front of his way so what is imam zain al abideen
[16:45]supposed to do imam zainul abideen he preaches and he delivers his
[16:52]message he fulfills his duty by fulfilling the orders of allah he
[17:01]guides by the order of allah imam zain al habideen he uses
[17:06]techniques and tactics to deliver his message he has no right to
[17:11]go and sit on the mambar and teach people so what does
[17:15]he do imam zain al habideen he becomes a role model when
[17:20]it comes to worship when it comes to ibada imam zain al
[17:25]habideen was a role model where today imam zayn al abideen is
[17:30]revered by revered by sunni scholars by some of the abbad of
[17:34]the time some of the worshippers of the time they revere imam
[17:38]zayn al abideen and they look up to this great man imam
[17:42]zayn al abideen and worship and seeking nearness to allah this is
[17:50]a gift that allah subhanahu wa ta'ala gives certain individuals one when
[17:57]you worship you remove all of the burdens from your heart you
[18:02]free your heart from all guilt from all oppression you free your
[18:07]soul by worshiping despite all of the challenges despite all of the
[18:13]difficulties that one faces in their life but if they are worship
[18:18]if they are worshiping if they are connected with allah the most
[18:22]difficult challenges will become easy in front of them why because allah
[18:28]says in the quran allah says in the quran it is through
[18:37]the remembrance of allah that the hearts will be at peace that
[18:41]the hearts will be at tranquility those who say allah is our
[19:03]lord and they stand firm for what they believe in the angels
[19:08]come down upon them day and night and they tell them don't
[19:13]be afraid don't be sad and we give you glad tidings of
[19:23]paradise that you have been promised so the most difficult life becomes
[19:29]an easy life when you are connected with allah you are connected
[19:34]with allah you have the key to happiness is allah subhanahu wa
[19:42]ta'ala controls the happiness it is narrated that isa jesus he was
[19:49]walking with his disciples and he saw a ruins a play a
[19:53]ruins where there's basically a kharibah and he hears a person there's
[19:59]someone living in that ruins he goes in there he sees an
[20:05]old man who was blind who was paralyzed and who had skin
[20:11]disease where no one comes to him no one comes near this
[20:15]person so prophet isa in front of his disciples he asked that
[20:21]man he tells him you abdullah kaifa asbahat o servant of allah
[20:27]how are you that man he replies you ruhallah o spirits of
[20:37]god i am at my best right now so prophet isaiah tells
[20:42]him how are you at your best when you are suffering from
[20:44]pain you're paralyzed you cannot see no one is around you that
[20:50]man here replies he tells him he says allah has taken away
[20:59]everything from me but i have one thing it's my muscle of
[21:03]the tongue and this tongue is always remembering allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[21:08]and when i am always connected with allah then i'm at peace
[21:14]this is what the quran teaches us this is the connection with
[21:19]allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and this is the path that imam zainulahabdin
[21:23]took despite all of the difficulties and challenges that he faced despite
[21:29]all that he saw the murder of his father and his family
[21:33]imam zainul abidin he says in dua abu hamza thumali he says
[21:47]he says oh allah through your remembrance my heart survives through your
[21:53]remembrance my heart thrives and through the and the connection with you
[22:01]i have healed the pain in my heart by connecting with you
[22:09]this was imam zain al abideen and of course imam zain al
[22:14]abideen did not choose to live this lifestyle after the day of
[22:18]ashura imam zain al abideen was like this from day one one
[22:22]of the narrators he says we were going to mecca we were
[22:27]going to perform the hajj and all of the caravans were together
[22:32]he said i looked i saw there's a young child he's traveling
[22:36]on his own he's walking towards mecca and all of the caravans
[22:41]they're going they're riding their camels and their horses they're going in
[22:45]one direction from medina to mecca so he said i went to
[22:49]him i saw a young child he said around the age of
[22:54]seven he says i went to him i tell him where is
[23:05]your caravan where is your food where are you going where is
[23:10]your goal so he says he looks at me he tells me
[23:15]he says my rahala my car my vehicle is my feet and
[23:30]my strength my food that keeps me going it's my taqwa that
[23:38]keeps me going towards and my goal is my mola my goal
[23:45]is my master my lord so then he tells him who are
[23:49]you he tells me ana qurashi he says tell me more who
[23:54]are you he tells me he tells me more i tell him
[23:59]tell me more he says he says i realize that he is
[24:04]from that holy household but he does not want to tell me
[24:08]anymore so i left him once we went in mecca i saw
[24:13]a group of people surrounding around a man around a young man
[24:17]who's teaching people who's preaching i asked who is that they tell
[24:22]me this is ali the son of hussein the son of ali
[24:31]is zayn al abideen this is imam zayn al abideen another man
[24:38]by the name of tawus al yamani he says one day in
[24:43]mecca and this is when imam zayn al abideen was older imam
[24:46]zayn al abideen his imam lasted for thirty seven years years and
[24:51]from '61 till '95 the imam alaihi salam was an imam he
[24:56]says one day in mecca we were in mecca and at that
[25:01]time there was no electricity there was no electricity there was no
[25:06]power so he says in the middle of the night i hear
[25:10]someone doing tawaf around the kaaba someone praying and doing tawaf around
[25:15]the kaaba so he says i went and i kept hearing closer
[25:21]i hear someone crying and in his tawaf he says he says
[25:50]a beautiful dua oh allah all of the kings have closed their
[25:54]doors but you are the only king whose doors are open in
[25:58]the middle of the night i ask you to have mercy on
[26:02]me and show me the face of my grandfather rasulallah in the
[26:07]darkness of qiyama qiyama is dark everyone yes everyone will have their
[26:15]own light he says i ask you to show me the face
[26:18]of my grandfather rasulullah on that day so he says he kept
[26:24]doing dua and dua until he fainted so he says i went
[26:28]to him i didn't know who it was i go to him
[26:32]i look closer i see this is ali ibn al hussain so
[26:37]i sprinkled some water on his face and i tell him oh
[26:41]my master oh zain al abideen this is the way that you
[26:45]are speaking then what should we do what should we say in
[26:47]our dua if this is how you faint from your dua so
[26:52]then he says he opened his eyes and he looked at me
[26:56]and he tells me he says don't tell me i'm from this
[27:18]family and from that family i'm a sayyid i'm from this family
[27:21]because allah subhanahu wa ta'ala created heaven for whoever worships him even
[27:27]if this is a slave from ethiopia from abyssinia and allah created
[27:33]the hellfire for whoever disobeys him even if that was a sayyid
[27:39]from quraysh this is imam zain al abideen he taught people through
[27:46]his worship this is how he would teach people this is one
[27:52]second the imam didn't have the freedom to educate people in the
[27:57]traditional way by going on the member and teaching people so the
[28:01]imam he used the dua's as a means to teach people through
[28:05]the dua he would teach people through the munajat he would teach
[28:09]people today when you read dua kumail when you read dua abu
[28:14]hamza when you read dua makaram al akhlaq when you read the
[28:18]dua's of the ahlul bayt you're not only having a connection between
[28:22]you and your lord you're actually learning your faith you're learning your
[28:25]ta'id you're learning your from the dua's of the ahlul bayt and
[28:30]this is what the imam did he would teach people how to
[28:35]speak to allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and in the dua he mentions
[28:39]the qualities of god the essence of god the ways to describe
[28:44]allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and this is why my dear brothers and
[28:47]sisters we the followers of the al bayt we have a great
[28:52]gift that no one has and that is the legacy that the
[28:55]al bayt left and that's the duas the akkumin who reads the
[29:00]akkumayn only the followers of the al bayt even though it's a
[29:04]dua the akkumayn doesn't make you a sunni or shia but there
[29:09]are some people they have a grudge against the akkumayn they don't
[29:12]recite i remember when we were in medina we would recite while
[29:18]we are next to the grave of rasulullah reciting thursday night they
[29:23]would bring guards with soldiers carrying their guns surrounding all of the
[29:27]shias because they're afraid of duaq kumail duaq kumail does not mention
[29:32]any names of imams it does not say anything to say you're
[29:35]shia or sunni duaq kumail is what is it but they're afraid
[29:43]of the akhmael they don't want you to read the akhmael because
[29:46]when you read the akhmael you're going to ask who is the
[29:49]author of the akhmael when you read dua abu hamza you're going
[29:52]to ask who's the author of dua abu hamza when you read
[29:55]dua imam al hussein on the day of arafah you're going to
[29:58]ask who's the author of this and then you're going to see
[30:02]that this is the legacy of the ahlul bayt that the muslim
[30:05]ummah neglected the imams of the ahlul bayt and especially imam zain
[30:11]al abideen he used the duas to teach people their aqa'id to
[30:16]teach people their religion to teach people morality and ethics imam zain
[30:21]al abideen was living in an era where there were no there
[30:24]was no morality and ethics they wanted to make the city of
[30:29]rasulullah madina to be a city of parties and music and dancing
[30:35]and their own palaces the caliphs they used to have dancing and
[30:38]parties they wanted to make the city of rasulullah to be in
[30:43]that way so what does imam zain abideen do he goes and
[30:48]he starts reciting dua's in medina in the city of rasulullah to
[30:53]connect people back to allah to connect people with the sanctity of
[30:58]this holy city the city of medina so imam zain al abideen
[31:03]he is the author of one of the most beautiful duas by
[31:06]the name of dua makaram al akhlaq in this dua the imam
[31:10]he teaches people akhlaq he teaches people virtues he teaches people manners
[31:17]through that dua because that was his way of educating people that
[31:22]was his way of teaching people imam zain al abideen another way
[31:27]of teaching people is that at that time the muslim empire was
[31:32]growing the muslim ummah was growing bani ummah today there are some
[31:37]they praise bani ummah they say bani ummah they took islam all
[31:40]the way to europe they took islam all the way to africa
[31:44]okay what's the what's the value of islam that has reached africa
[31:50]and that has reached europe but that in the name of that
[31:53]very islam they're killing the grandchildren of rasulallah does that islam have
[31:57]value is islam did rasulullah come all about quantity is it just
[32:03]quantity no islam the quran rasulullah came with quality muslims this is
[32:11]why on the day of ashura there were a handful of men
[32:15]they say between 72 to a 150 companions were with imam hussein
[32:19]no more than 150 were with imam hussein alaihis salam and on
[32:23]the other side there were over 30,000 but the quality of the
[32:29]iman that those individuals had defeated the numbers it defeated all of
[32:35]the numbers allah wants us to be good muslims allah wants us
[32:40]to be quality muslims not quantity muslims today there are some they're
[32:44]happy yes there are over 1,000,000,000 muslims in the world okay what
[32:49]are all these muslims doing today one small palestine they couldn't get
[32:53]it back what are they do what's the what's the value of
[32:57]numbers it's the quality and unfortunately that quality does not exist because
[33:04]they rejected the al baith so the ummah was growing in number
[33:09]bani ummah was growing in number they were conquering lands here and
[33:13]there they reached all the way to spain during the reign of
[33:17]bani ummah but then they were butchering the children of rasulullah and
[33:24]because the ummah was growing there were many slaves that were being
[33:29]brought into the ummah many slaves were being brought in this was
[33:33]not a problem that was caused by the imam but the imam
[33:36]alaihi salam what he would do is he would go and purchase
[33:40]these slaves he would teach them he would educate them he would
[33:45]equip them with the basic necessities to survive in life and knowledge
[33:50]and then he would free them on the night of the eid
[33:54]one year later he would gather them all and then he would
[33:57]tell them remember when you disobeyed me remember when you did this
[34:01]remember when you did that they would all tell him yes we
[34:04]remember we disobeyed you he would tell them did i hurt you
[34:08]did i oppress you they tell him never once oh son of
[34:11]rasulullah and then he says i have forgiven you for all that
[34:15]you have done and i have freed you in the way of
[34:18]allah so now i want you all to raise your hands and
[34:23]say o allah free zain al abideen from the hellfire he would
[34:28]ask the slaves to do dua for him and then they would
[34:32]tell him oh son of rasulullah you did not do anything wrong
[34:35]he says yes but i need you to do the dua for
[34:37]me and then he would free them in the way of allah
[34:41]the imam was not able to teach people in the masjid so
[34:45]he would buy these slaves he would teach them and these slaves
[34:49]they would become teachers they would become educated individuals and then he
[34:54]would free them and send them back to their homes and send
[34:57]them back in the muslim world and wherever they may go the
[35:02]imam one of his legacies is a treaties on rights rasalat al
[35:08]khakuk a treaties on rights and this was the first document that
[35:14]spoke about human rights today people talk about the magna carta the
[35:19]united nations human rights and all of that imam zain al abdeen
[35:22]was before them he talks about the right of allah the right
[35:26]of the nafs the right of everything around you going to the
[35:30]neighbor to the family to the mother to the father to your
[35:33]hands to your organs to your legs to everything allah subhanahu wa
[35:38]the imam speaks about that this was the imam and the imam
[35:46]was an imam of action the imam was not just an imam
[35:51]a leader where he would sit and boss people around and tell
[35:54]people do this and do that no imam zain al abideen was
[35:59]an imam of action one day a man comes to the imam
[36:04]and he begins to curse and use foul language towards the imam
[36:10]so some of the companions of the imam they come around him
[36:13]and he tells them let's go and visit that man so some
[36:17]of those companions they think that imam zain al habdeen now that
[36:21]he has his companions with him he wants to go and take
[36:24]revenge from that man so they go and they hear the imam
[36:29]alaihi salaam he's reciting this verse he's repeating this verse and those
[36:41]who control their anger and those who forgive people indeed allah loves
[36:46]those who do ihsan those who do good towards others he goes
[36:51]to the person he calls him out of his home that man
[36:55]comes out he's afraid but then the imam he tells him what
[37:00]you said about me you were cursing me and you were using
[37:04]foul language against me what you said about me if it is
[37:09]correct i ask allah to forgive me and if you are wrong
[37:15]and i did not do anything wrong and you are wrong in
[37:19]what you are saying then i ask allah to forgive you that
[37:24]man he begins to cry he comes and he kisses imam zain
[37:28]al abideen and he says i bear witness that allah gave you
[37:33]the title of imamah because you are deserving to be an imam
[37:37]this is the akhlaq of islam this is the morality of islam
[37:45]one of the most wicked enemies of imam zainul abideen was marwan
[37:49]ibn al hakam the man who ended up becoming caliph was a
[37:53]short period where mecca and medina rebelled we were talking about the
[37:57]year after ashura the city of medina rebelled so marwan ibn al
[38:02]hakam but until the time the army came and took medina back
[38:07]marwan ibn al hakam was afraid for his life any minute the
[38:11]people of medina they could come and they could kill him so
[38:15]what does he do he goes and he takes his women and
[38:19]his children and he brings them to the home of imam zain
[38:23]al abideen zain he tells him oh grandson of rasulullah i don't
[38:30]have anywhere to take my women and children i might be killed
[38:34]but i want my women and children to be protected i don't
[38:38]know anywhere to take them other than take them to your home
[38:41]this is bani umayyah this is the leader this is one of
[38:44]the leaders of those who instigated against the ahlul bayt many times
[38:48]he would instigate against imam ali against imam al hassan and imam
[38:52]al hussein he comes and he brings his woman and his children
[38:57]to the house of imam zain al abideen and the imam opens
[39:00]his doors for him the imam he says if the murder of
[39:05]my father entrusted me with the sword that he killed my father
[39:10]i would protect that amanah i would protect it meaning that there
[39:16]are principles in life that you have to always uphold rasulullah was
[39:24]the honest and the trustworthy the kuffar the pagans in mecca they
[39:29]would trust rasulullah even though they would call him a liar and
[39:32]they would call him a magician but they would trust him with
[39:34]their money they would bring their money with rasulullah even though they
[39:38]don't believe in him and they're cursing at him because they know
[39:40]that rasulullah would not take a dime from them imam zain al
[39:45]abideen he used to spend his nights delivering zakat and food to
[39:56]people and allah says this they do khairat they do the good
[40:11]they give the charity imam zainul abideen used to carry a heavy
[40:16]bag filled with food on his back every night and he would
[40:22]visit the homes of the poor people in medina one day one
[40:27]of the companions one of the narrators by the name of ibn
[40:31]shahab is zuhari man he's one of the taber'een he says i
[40:37]saw ali ibn al hussein carrying a bag on his back a
[40:45]heavy bag on his back so i tell him what are you
[40:49]doing o son of rasulullah so then he says he tells me
[40:54]i'm on a trip i'm on a travel i'm traveling and i'm
[41:00]preparing for my journey so he says i thought ali ibn hussain
[41:05]was going to travel he says the next day i saw ali
[41:09]ibn hussain once again so i come to him and i tell
[41:13]him oh son of rasulullah i thought you were traveling but i
[41:17]see you in the city he says he told me i was
[41:24]not referring to the travel in this life i was referring to
[41:28]the travel of the afterlife and i was preparing for the journey
[41:33]of the afterlife what is the journey of the afterlife doing good
[41:38]deeds what tazawwah do try to increase in piety try to get
[41:46]closer to allah because that's the best thing that you could carry
[41:50]with you when you're going on that very long and difficult journey
[41:55]so ibn shahab azhori he says i realized ali ibn al hussein
[41:59]was carrying food to give the needy in medina this is what
[42:04]imam zain al abideen was doing and finally imam zain al abideen
[42:11]took it upon himself to let the whole world know what happened
[42:17]to imam al hussain on the day of ashura imam zain al
[42:22]abideen he was an eyewitness to the events on the day of
[42:26]ashura he saw everything in front of his eyes he saw the
[42:33]whole tragedy and he is one of the narrators of the event
[42:37]of ashura he narrates what he saw he narrates what happened to
[42:42]his father imam al hussein and what happened to the woman and
[42:46]the children and he was also one of those who were taken
[42:51]as prisoners from karbala to kufa and from kufa all the way
[42:58]to the palace of yazid this was what the imam alaihi salaam
[43:04]went through he was taken to damascus when damascus was parade was
[43:12]was parade they were paraded in the city of damascus and they
[43:18]were taken to the courtyard of yazid and yazid he called he
[43:24]called upon hundreds of people to come and attend so that they
[43:28]could see what he has done to this family and he would
[43:33]call a speaker he would call a khatib to go sit on
[43:38]the mambar in front of the ahlul bayt while they were in
[43:41]chains and in front of the head of imam al hussein is
[43:45]in front of him the speaker would go up and the speaker
[43:49]would curse amir al mu'mineen imam al hassan imam al hussein and
[43:54]the family of rasoolallah imam zain al abideen during that event in
[44:03]the courtyard of yazid he gave that powerful sermon that shook the
[44:09]foundations of the ummawi government all that he needed to do was
[44:14]tell them who he was that's all that he did he let
[44:18]he needed to let the whole world know that he is the
[44:21]grandson of rasulullah he's the grandson of amir al mumineen he's the
[44:25]son of imam al hussain and that's all that he needed to
[44:29]do to change what was going on in medina and this is
[44:34]what he did after yazid called upon the speaker to go and
[44:41]sit on the mambar and preach imam zain al abideen while he
[44:46]was in chains he tells him oh speaker you have traded heaven
[45:02]for hellfire because you want to please the creation while displeasing the
[45:08]creator so know that your seat in the hellfire is ready for
[45:13]you imam zain abdin was not afraid and then he looks at
[45:19]yazid and he tells him oh yazid give me permission to stand
[45:38]on these pieces of wood he doesn't call it a mambar because
[45:42]these are pieces of wood that curse the ahlul bayt it doesn't
[45:46]have the virtue of becoming a mambar he tells him let me
[45:50]go and stand and say something that will satisfy allah and will
[45:57]bring reward to those who are sitting now yazid he knows which
[46:02]family the ahlul bayt are from so he refuses but some of
[46:07]those around him they tell him what is this twenty some year
[46:10]old young boy what is he going to do what is he
[46:15]going to do they keep insisting let him go let him speak
[46:21]yazid says he is from a family he is from a family
[46:36]that have been given the knowledge and he will not come down
[46:40]except with my humiliation and the humiliation of the family of abu
[46:44]sufyan until they kept insisting then yazid gave him permission imam zain
[46:51]al abideen he went and he gave that powerful sermon in that
[46:57]sermon he tells people who rasulullah is he tells people who imam
[47:02]al hussein is he tells people who amir al mu'mineen is he
[47:07]begins by saying the imam he described the qualities of rasulullah and
[52:04]then he went on to describe the qualities of amir al mu'mineen
[52:08]in the courtyard of yazid in the in the courtyard that has
[52:12]been cursing amir al mu'mineen for many years he described all of
[52:17]the qualities of amir al mu'mineen and then he describes the qualities
[52:21]of fatima al zahra and khadija tal kubra and then he tells
[52:25]them i am the son of the one who was butchered in
[52:29]karbala i am the son of the one whose family was taken
[52:33]as captives all the way from iraq to shem so yazid he
[52:39]saw that everyone began to turn against him everyone started crying with
[52:44]imam zain al abideen so yazid in order to stop the imam
[52:50]from continuing his speech he calls upon the to call the even
[52:56]though it was not the time of the stands and he says
[53:02]allah he tells him you have glorified allah there is nothing greater
[53:16]than allah and then he says the imam he says my skin
[53:28]and my body and my bones all witness that there is no
[53:32]god other than allah and then the muaddin says imam zain al
[53:42]abideen when he hears the muadden saying i bear witness that muhammad
[53:46]is the messenger of allah he looks towards yazid and he tells
[53:50]him oh yazid you say that muhammad if muhammad is he your
[54:11]grandfather or my grandfather if you say that he is your grandfather
[54:16]then you are a liar and a kafir and if you say
[54:19]that he is my grandfather then why did you kill his family
[54:24]and butcher his children imam zain al abideen came back came down
[54:30]from the mambar and it was that event that led imam zayed
[54:34]yazid to free the and he sent them back to to karbala
[54:41]and from and from there to medina but the imam he lived
[54:46]his whole life remembering imam al hussain crying for his father imam
[54:52]al hussain my dear brothers and sisters we cry for imam al
[54:57]hussain and we hear the story that took place over a thousand
[55:00]years ago imagine what imam zain al abideen saw in front of
[55:06]his eyes imagine what he was witness to on the day of
[55:11]ashura this is why every time they bring water for the imam
[55:16]the imam would fill that water with his tears they bring food
[55:20]for the imam the food would be filled with his tears they
[55:24]come and they tell him you have not rasulallah why how long
[55:28]are you going to be crying like this for isn't the murder
[55:33]martyrdom something normal for your family hamza jafar amir al mumineen they
[55:38]were all murdered imam imam zain al abideen he tells him he
[55:45]he tells abu hamza thumali yes amir al mu'mineen was murdered jafar
[55:51]was murdered hamza was murdered however when have you heard that one
[55:58]of the woman of rasulullah was taken as a captive before the
[56:02]day of ashura where have you heard our women and our children
[56:06]were put in chains and taken from city to city every time
[56:10]i look at my the woman and the children my aunts and
[56:14]my sisters i am reminded of the day that they were taken
[56:18]as captives to the courtyard of yazid this was imam zain al
[56:26]abideen he would go in front of the butchers he would see
[56:29]them about to slaughter a sheep he would tell them oh butchers
[56:34]have you given water to the sheep before slaughtering it they tell
[56:38]him yes oh son of rasulullah this is what your grandfather came
[56:41]and taught us then he would face karbala and he would say
[56:45]but my father hussain was butchered without giving a drop of water
[56:51]and he would make everyone cry this was the imam until he
[56:58]was poisoned by al walid ibn abdul malik he sent poison to
[57:03]the imam and on the twenty fifth of muharram imam zain al
[57:10]abideen he passed away in the year '95 after hijra imam al
[57:16]baqir he comes he wants to wash the body of his father
[57:20]imam zain al abideen so he removes the clothes from imam zain
[57:25]al abideen when he's on the mukhtasal he sees there are two
[57:30]signs and he begins to cry one of his companions jabir al
[57:34]jafi he tells him why are you crying so much he tells
[57:39]him oh jabir when i took off the clothes of my father
[57:44]to wash his body i saw two marks on the shoulder of
[57:48]my father there was one mark from the bag that he used
[57:52]to carry to help the poor and the needy that has left
[57:56]its mark on the shoulder of my father and there was another
[58:00]mark that has made me cry and that is the mark of
[58:04]the chains that were put around the neck of zayn al abideen
[58:09]when he was taken from karbala all the way to sha'a
