[0:00]foreign has a statement in which he describes his son Imam Muhammad

[0:19]al-jawad now it's an incredible statement and what I want to do

[0:25]in this short series is to try and focus and zoom in

[0:29]on this statement just to try and understand and make sense of

[0:34]it the Imam says a now in order to understand the gravity

[0:48]and the significance of this Hadith we need to take a step

[0:57]back you see Shia Creed today has gone through many twists and

[1:00]turns before it was crystallized towards the beginning of the reign of

[1:07]Imam in other words belief in an Imam who has been in

[1:10]occultation for over a thousand years and who became an Imam when

[1:15]he was only five years old this belief is a given now

[1:18]and is taken for granted but that's only because the prerequisites for

[1:24]these beliefs were firmly established in a gradual manner like building a

[1:30]wall one brick at a time the idea that a person is

[1:37]divinely inspired and acquires his authority and knowledge from God and no

[1:41]one else this idea was vociferously challenged by All Humans at first

[1:45]this is why prophets had been rejected by the majority of people

[1:53]in the beginning of their mandate likewise the imams were initially seen

[1:59]as merely virtuous and good people but with time people came to

[2:02]realize that they were much more than that that they were endowed

[2:09]with Divine knowledge and Authority which entails a slew of other incredible

[2:15]factors like infallibility and Supernatural powers so how did that come about

[2:21]well it came about by carefully observing the success of imams at

[2:29]major turning points and one of those turning points was the birth

[2:33]of Imam al-jawad hence the famous statement of Imam about his son

[2:43]is essentially this translates to the following Imam salaam points to his

[2:57]own son Imam al-jawad and says this is the newborn who has

[3:00]no equal in Islam a newborn whose blessings upon our followers are

[3:08]unprecedented that's a significant and bold description he's unique he's unprecedented the

[3:15]greatest blessings are brought by this child in the entirety of the

[3:20]religion of Islam it's a fact being stipulated by the eighth Imam

[3:26]and naturally draws a lot of attention so what does that mean

[3:32]well I'll mention three points that stem from this statement number one

[3:37]blessings in our supplications and devotional literature we have specific supplications that

[3:50]have been narrated by the likes of al-kahfami in both of his

[3:57]books both of which are compilations of supplications and devotional duas and

[4:07]these particular supplications they're divided over the 12 hours of the day

[4:16]so in other words every hour of the day meaning the daytime

[4:20]has a specific supplication that's ascribed to it that is recommended for

[4:27]it to be recited right so you've got 12 hours 12 supplications

[4:32]in each of those there is a supplication in which you beseech

[4:40]and you seek the intercession of one of the imams may God's

[4:44]peace and blessings be upon them now what's interesting is that with

[4:50]each of those imams to whom there is a supplication attributed in

[4:56]each of those supplications you ask for a specific set of things

[5:03]and you acquire the intercession of that Imam for the Fulfillment of

[5:07]those needs for instance when it comes to the commander of the

[5:11]faithful Imam Ali alaihissalam you ask Allah to allow him to intercede

[5:19]for you specifically for Seeking Justice from oppressive tyrants right preventions against

[5:26]despots our fourth Imam you seek his intercession for protection from authorities

[5:37]to be safeguarded from harm so that governments and other forms of

[5:45]political Authority do not hurt you when it comes to Imam you

[5:50]seek his intercession for the calamities of death and what happens when

[5:56]we're buried and we're inside of our grave right when it comes

[6:02]to Imam Assad our sixth Imam you seek his intercession to be

[6:06]protected from the Dreadful events of the afterlife the things that will

[6:11]happen on the day of judgment right things like resurrection and Reckoning

[6:15]and being held to account for our actions likewise you seek his

[6:24]intercession specifically for attaining wellness and health in our bodies and to

[6:31]not be afflicted with disease Imam or eighth Imam you seek his

[6:37]intercession for safety and protection during travels and when you go from

[6:41]one place to another right so again the idea is that for

[6:46]each of the imams you seek their intercession for a specific set

[6:49]of things so these are supplications that have been prescribed and narrated

[6:54]by our imams themselves so what about Imam remember what Imam said

[6:59]about him he said no one has brought out brought about greater

[7:07]blessings upon our followers than this newborn so in this Dua going

[7:12]back to those devotional books we read the following foreign oh one

[7:26]who has his servants pray to him those who are in Affliction

[7:34]those who are hopeless and destitute they reach out to him and

[7:39]he responds to them people seek refuge in him those who are

[7:42]frightened and terrorized and he provides them with safety I ask you

[7:49]then we say Muhammad we ask you to send your blessings upon

[7:54]Muhammad and his family and that you give me of your generosity

[8:01]of your uh give me self-sufficiency give me sustenance such that I

[8:19]don't I don't feel the need to go to your Creations I

[8:24]don't need to ask anybody and that you sever My Hope and

[8:33]everyone except for yourself and I want you to disappoint my hopes

[8:39]except in yourself once again to send his blessings upon Muhammad and

[8:58]his progeny and you expand on the sustenance that you have deprived

[9:07]me from so essentially what happens here is that we ask Imam

[9:20]or we ask Allah in the name of the ninth Imam to

[9:28]increase our sustenance and to increase the blessings of Allah upon us

[9:35]but specifically sustenance livelihood those people that are going through financial trouble

[9:41]those of us who inevitably fall into problems of all sorts and

[9:46]kinds when it comes to matters of money and wealth and poverty

[9:52]and so forth Imam is the one to seek his intercession he's

[9:58]the one and in his name Allah provides us with those needs

[10:04]so that's the first thing that we extrapolate from the statement of

[10:12]Imam as to why he says that this newborn is unprecedented he

[10:16]is unequaled he is unique in every way and then the Imam

[10:21]specifically mentions Baraka blessings that this child will bring so this could

[10:27]be one of the meanings of that statement
