[0:28]bell cozumel Mustafa Muhammad Ali Oh No I'll activate a high beam
[0:35]upon hearing Alma so mean Carla who Ta'ala famous chemica table in
[0:40]khreem smith la havas manova he module Nahum and in methania guna
[0:45]be Amina well Hina alayhim parallel karate where karma philosophy were eater
[0:51]as the cat what can you Lenna Abidine and we appointed them
[1:01]leaders to guide by our command and we revealed to them the
[1:07]doing of good deeds and the observing of prayer and the giving
[1:17]of alms and they worshipped us amenable area so doc allahu allah
[1:22]allahu la beam let us enlighten our hearts and our minds and
[1:25]our gathering with the remembrance of the holy prophet and his pure
[1:29]family swallow ala muhammadin wa ala muhammad we live in a consumer
[1:47]society a society that encourages us to constantly acquire goods and services
[2:00]in ever-increasing amounts we find ourselves constantly throughout the day from the
[2:09]time we wake up all the way until the time we go
[2:16]to bed we find ourselves in a situation where we are constantly
[2:24]bombarded with advertisements advertisements that push us to acquire various goods and
[2:35]services when we wake up in the morning you know whether we're
[2:37]listening to the news we're watching the news or listening to the
[2:42]radio we hear advertisement after advertisements when we're driving we see billboards
[2:51]with advertisements when we're living out our day whether at home at
[2:59]home or at school or at work we find ourselves constantly bombarded
[3:07]with advertisements that push us to buy things to consume things to
[3:16]acquire more and more things I read a report that suggested that
[3:22]the average American every day is exposed to anywhere between four to
[3:29]ten thousand advertisements now that sounds like a big number many of
[3:37]us might hear that number and say wait that doesn't sound right
[3:41]that's that's way too much that's because our brains have a sort
[3:45]of you know safety that allows us to filter many of these
[3:54]advertisements otherwise if we were to pay attention to each and every
[3:57]single advertisement that we come across we would go crazy so our
[4:01]brains filter out and so experts tell us that all of these
[4:06]advertisements are filtered out the ones that arrive to us completely are
[4:09]maybe around 100 a day that we really notice and pay attention
[4:12]to so we're constantly bombarded with advertisements I heard once that the
[4:21]reason why every single American household doesn't own an elephant the reason
[4:29]why is because until now there has yet to be an offer
[4:35]for zero down and small monthly payments on an elephant if they
[4:38]have such an offer we would all own elephants we're encouraged to
[4:45]outdo one another in terms of our spending to keep up with
[4:49]the Joneses I look at my family members my friends my colleagues
[4:55]and I look at the type of material goods that they have
[4:58]they required the house that they have the car the kind of
[5:02]car that they have the clothing that they have other material goods
[5:06]and I try to keep up and we try to outdo one
[5:14]another in terms of our consumption in terms of taking in one
[5:19]word brothers and sisters we are programmed to be takers to constantly
[5:25]take and to constantly consume when we examine the lives of the
[5:31]holy prophet muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa alayhi wasallam elohim ophélie Adam from
[5:37]Adam Adam this is definitely a pre fo follow us so let
[5:43]us Chava la vallee ala muhammadin wa when we examine the lives
[5:54]of the holy prophets and the Imams and the righteous we find
[5:58]that one of the very important features characteristics part of their personality
[6:04]was that they were not only consumers not only did they consume
[6:14]but they also gave they were givers you know the process and
[6:18]the amount they also consumed the Prophet the Quran tells us to
[6:24]Allah subhana WA Ta'ala tells the Holy Prophet tell them Quan Annamma
[6:33]and a bashar al mythical tell them i am a human being
[6:35]just like you I have needs I have desires and I fulfill
[6:43]these desires I consume also yet the difference is that while they
[6:50]consumed they were also givers what made them special was that they
[6:58]constantly gave and they noticed that others were around them they put
[7:05]others before themselves they were aware of the existence of others and
[7:10]so they always did good and they always gave and they acted
[7:19]with kindness and generosity towards others when Allah Subhanahu WA Ta'ala described
[7:23]the Imam and the prophet and the Prophet when Allah describes them
[7:31]in the Quran in chapter 21 verse 73 Allah Subhanahu WA Ta'ala
[7:36]says wa ja alna mom ma tan dune at the arena and
[7:42]we have appointed them as imams as leaders who guides by God's
[7:47]command well Hannah in a hymn CLL Quran the first thing that
[7:52]God did was to reveal to these leaders to these imam general
[7:55]fellows the doing of good doing good entails a recognition of others
[8:06]a recognition of those whom one can do good towards well known
[8:13]in materia Doudna BM Elena Wow Haina Elena infernal chaos where karma
[8:18]philosophy were each at the cup and to observe prayers and to
[8:24]give arms we can rule in our body but before prayers and
[8:27]before the fasting and before any of these other acts of worship
[8:32]Allah Subhanahu WA Jalla he commands these leaders these role models to
[8:38]do what to do good to be givers to give towards others
[8:47]to help others and to maintain their well-being in chapter 59 verse
[8:55]number 9 Allah Subhanahu WA Ta'ala says where was he Rona Allah
[9:03]and force ahead and they do what and they put others before
[9:07]themselves they are altruistic they engage in ether ether means what means
[9:13]altruism to put others before yourself to be selfless to think of
[9:19]others alive describing the added base and the amount Allah Subhanahu WA
[9:24]Ta'ala says while her owner Allah and footsy him they would place
[9:32]others before themselves well ocaña be in Kosova even a time when
[9:39]they themselves were desperately in need sometimes it's easy for me to
[9:45]put others before myself when I'm not in need if I'm full
[9:49]if I'm not hungry and I'm invited somewhere it's easy for me
[9:55]to tell someone else to go before me but if I've spent
[10:00]the entire day fasting and I'm tired I'm hungry right what happens
[10:06]becomes difficult even this one person standing before me in line becomes
[10:11]much more difficult to put this person for me because I'm hungry
[10:15]I'm in need what made these individual special the added base alayhim
[10:24]as-salam and the righteous the prophets and the Imams was that they
[10:28]would put others before themselves they were out true istic they were
[10:31]selfless where you fear Allah Allah and forcing him well Ocana be
[10:41]him hopeful and among these givers primary among those who did good
[10:48]towards others and who put others before himself is our second Imam
[10:53]an imam al Hudson and Mujtaba alehissalaam whom we celebrate his birth
[10:59]history tells us that our second imam and imam hassan al mustafa
[11:05]alehissalaam he was born in medina in the second year after hijra
[11:11]after the Prophet migrated from Mecca to Medina he was born in
[11:18]the second year in the 15th of Shaban a day like today
[11:20]a 15th of the month of Ramadan a day like today al
[11:27]imam hasan alehissalaam like his father like his brother like his mother
[11:33]like his grandfather like other members of the holy progeny the imam
[11:40]had various virtues these individuals they excelled in every field yet one
[11:47]of the great characteristics that the Imam was known for was his
[11:54]generosity was his kindness was his goodness towards others the Imam was
[12:02]a giver the a man placed others before himself he was out
[12:10]true astok and he was selfless and this is no surprise producers
[12:13]because as I mentioned when we read about the lives of the
[12:18]annual battle in Misenum we find that this was a primary feature
[12:22]and characteristic of their lives it was predominant in there every single
[12:28]day in their experiences and their interactions every single day we read
[12:35]an environment husband Adi his Salam he says he recalls in a
[12:40]hadith he says when I was a young child and I was
[12:48]growing up says my mother she would seats me next to her
[12:54]when she would pray he was a young child Damon and when
[13:00]his mother father Methuselah alaihe salam when she would be at home
[13:04]and she would engage in her acts of worship and her prayers
[13:08]she would seat her children those who were young she would seat
[13:11]them close by so that they can observe so that they can
[13:13]see and this is very good this is very good lesson brothers
[13:20]and sisters that we teach our children we teach our youngsters the
[13:25]importance of worshiping allah subhanahu wata'ala and not just through our words
[13:31]but through our actions that our children they see us engage in
[13:36]acts of worship they see us worship allah subhanahu wata'ala they experience
[13:42]us do good because actions speak louder than words unfortunately sometimes and
[13:49]if we have a chance maybe the upcoming nights will talk about
[13:55]this issue further sometimes we find that as parents we desire to
[13:59]instill goodness in our children we want our children to be angels
[14:03]to be perfect but when it comes to our own observance we're
[14:09]not doing as well and this is problematic because we learn primarily
[14:14]before we learn through words we learn through what through experience through
[14:20]actions through seeing so Fatima to Zara alehissalaam she would seat her
[14:26]children and imam and hudson next to her when she would pray
[14:28]the amman says that one day after my mother concluded her prayer
[14:35]she sat down and she raised her hands into art and supplication
[14:39]and she began to pray for others and she began to mention
[14:44]name she began to mention names of some of the companions there
[14:50]at the time some of the noble companions the righteous companions one
[14:54]by one mentioned their names she would then begin to mention names
[15:00]of some of her extended family members and others residents of the
[15:08]community she would name name after name name after name and then
[15:13]she completed her list of names so in a mammoth house an
[15:19]audience and I'm he's a young boy at the time he turns
[15:24]to his mother and he tells me Alma my dear mother I
[15:26]heard you mention the names of our friends and family members and
[15:31]others but I did not hear you pray for me or pray
[15:38]for my siblings or pray for my father or pray for yourself
[15:44]I didn't hear you mention any of our names you mentioned everyone
[15:47]else's name but you did not mention our names Papa Methuselah alaihe
[15:54]salam she turns to her young son and he mahmoud hassan and
[15:57]she tells him booney a job for mother my son take this
[16:06]as a principle as a lesson for you in life your neighbor
[16:10]before yourself your neighbor before yourself a job tomahto and we have
[16:19]all read and are aware of the story that is mentioned in
[16:29]surah till in son in the quran the story the very famous
[16:32]story that is mentioned where Allah Subhanahu WA Ta'ala says way of
[16:36]Ramona fauna Allah being skinned and we're teaming Wasilla in the mandatory
[16:42]macomb they watch in LA their response after the family of the
[16:51]Prophet after fasting for three days engaging in another and then fasting
[16:58]the story is known at the time of afar for three consecutive
[17:00]nights someone who is needy he comes he knocks on the door
[17:03]the android-based they give all of the food that they have they
[17:09]give us and they break their fast on what on water well
[17:11]why your frame on apana Allah o Bhima skin away Athena was
[17:19]here ah they do so for what for recognition so someone comes
[17:24]and says look mashallah look at this person what a pious person
[17:27]this person is he or she takes care of the needy and
[17:32]the orphans and those who are not as fortunate was it for
[17:38]recognition from the people no Allah subhana WA Ta'ala says way of
[17:45]Ramona para allá hoping for the pleasure of allah subhanho wa taala
[17:48]with keen away a team aware serie in demand for a more
[17:51]comely watch in la we feed you for what for the sake
[17:57]of allah loudly domain come gaza Allah Shukur Allah we expect nothing
[18:02]in return usually when we do something good we expect something in
[18:09]return at least we expect to what we expect to thank you
[18:12]even if we don't say it out loud within us there is
[18:17]an implicit belief that I expect at least some gratitude someone to
[18:20]say thank you to me and this is why we teach our
[18:24]children from a young age to always say please and thank you
[18:26]because the least thing that we can do is say thank you
[18:31]the other ways they teach us that their goodness their acts of
[18:36]kindness and generosity and goodness were solely for the sake of allah
[18:41]subhanahu wata'ala in which they did not even expect what something in
[18:46]return not even a thanks than resume income Jezza and well as
[18:52]usual and so in such an environment it makes sense that someone
[18:58]such as an imam hassan ali hassan al would grow up with
[19:06]generosity with kindness with altruism and with selflessness as a core component
[19:12]of his personality and thus when we examined the life of our
[19:17]second Imam and Imam Ali his phenomena ma'am and Hudson we find
[19:20]that there are numerous examples in which he expresses kindness to others
[19:26]generosity to us we are told that one day the Imam as
[19:34]he is walking in Medina in the city of Medina he came
[19:40]across across a group of young men poor young men who were
[19:43]sitting on the side of the road and they were sharing a
[19:49]meal and their meal was a humble meal the tradition says that
[19:53]they were eating dry bread together a number of them and so
[19:57]as the Imam is passing by one of these youth he turns
[20:03]towards the Imam and he calls him out tells him he have
[20:08]not a soul Allah o grandson of the Prophet we are sharing
[20:10]a meal and we would like to invite you to join us
[20:16]to sharing this meal the tradition tells us that the Imam stopped
[20:20]in his place and he proceeded immediately towards them and he once
[20:26]and he sat down with them and he joined with them in
[20:33]the meal then afterwards the Imam he invited them he told them
[20:37]come my brothers he invited them over to his home where he
[20:44]expressed kindness and generosity to them he gave them food and clothing
[20:47]and money and he took care of them one of the companions
[20:54]he was there he told me of novoselov love how great and
[20:58]generous you are for bringing in these young men into your home
[21:05]and for expressing kindness and generosity to them the Imam he replied
[21:11]to him he said absolutely not no in fact this is not
[21:18]an act of kindness or generosity it is nothing compared to what
[21:23]they did because what because when they gave me they gave me
[21:27]from everything that they had when I gave them I still have
[21:35]something I still have something left over but when they gave they
[21:40]gave everything that they had and this is a true act of
[21:45]kindness and generosity this is a true act of altruism of selflessness
[21:51]the Quran tells us lengthen an old bill you will never achieve
[21:58]righteousness hatsune fit all minima to a bone until you are ready
[22:02]to give but what type of giving giving from that which you
[22:09]love that which you like otherwise as I mentioned earlier sometimes it's
[22:14]easy for me to give something which I don't like I've used
[22:17]these clothes for many years they're worn out I want to go
[22:23]and buy a new wardrobe so I take my old clothes and
[22:25]I give them to others this is good it's good to give
[22:30]to others but real kindness and generosity is when we give from
[22:33]that which we love so the amount says they gave everything that
[22:37]they had so this is a true act of kindness and generosity
[22:44]and another tradition we are told that the Imam one day he
[22:49]was sitting at home the Imam was sitting on a worn-out a
[22:54]tattered sack he had placed on the ground and he was sitting
[22:57]on there and so one of his companions he came to visit
[23:04]the Imam in his home when he came to visit him he
[23:06]noticed that the Imam was sitting on this old worn-out you know
[23:13]garment the sack so he turned to the Imam and he told
[23:16]him my dear Imam why is it that you are sitting on
[23:23]this old sheet perhaps if we can purchase one for a new
[23:30]one for you something that is comfortable for you something that is
[23:35]new for you the amount told him I'm not in need of
[23:42]a new sheet a new sack this is this works perfectly fine
[23:44]he told him I can give you if you are short on
[23:52]funds I can provide one for you I can purchase one for
[23:54]you Oh mom don't worry about it the amount turned to him
[24:00]and he sank him he said I thank you for your kindness
[24:06]and generosity but if you have extra funds extra money would it
[24:10]not be better that these funds are given to someone who is
[24:13]more in need than I am I can do with this yes
[24:19]it's all it's one out but I can do with this there
[24:24]are others around who don't even have this simple thing to sit
[24:27]on who don't even have clothing adequate clothing to wear to observe
[24:39]who don't have enough food to consume some reports tell us today
[24:45]that approximately half of the world's population or less at least 3
[24:50]billion people in the world live on less than 2 dollars and
[24:56]50 cents a day they live their entire living is on 2
[25:00]dollars and 50 cents a day we have to ask ourselves when
[25:06]it comes to our consumption what is vital and what is extra
[25:10]what is vital and necessary and what is extra and to what
[25:18]extent can I turn to others and help others because many times
[25:21]we make an excuse we say well I can't help I'm sorry
[25:27]the Quran says gives an example of those who pass by those
[25:31]who are in need but they neglect them God Anoka a moment
[25:38]louia sha allah wa Alfama shall we feed and help those who
[25:42]if God wanted to help them God would have helped them what's
[25:47]my responsibility God wanted them to live comfortably God could have helped
[25:53]them al hamdulillah al hamdulillah when it comes to issues of goodness
[25:57]when I am the giver of good when I am the beneficiary
[26:04]it's all me we forget no Alexis it's me I am the
[26:09]person who gave I am the person who did this I am
[26:10]the person who founded this but when it comes to issues other
[26:16]issues that were not very happy about the first being that we
[26:19]blame is whom is Allah I have nothing to do with it
[26:24]so the Imam says he tells me remind him says wouldn't it
[26:28]be better that this money spent for those who are greater in
[26:36]need we are told that in his lifetime the Imam twice at
[26:39]least twice in his lifetime the Imam gave half of his wealth
[26:43]half of his wealth he gave it to those in need and
[26:48]at least three times in his lifetime the Imam gave all of
[26:53]his wealth to those in need history thoses and when one day
[27:00]the Imam was asked by a companion he was asked you have
[27:04]never saw Allah why is it that you never refuse anyone whenever
[27:12]someone comes to you with a request you never say no never
[27:14]it doesn't matter what situation you're in whether you are capable or
[27:21]whether you are yourself in need you never refuse others requests why
[27:28]is it that you never refuse others requests you know what the
[27:32]Imam answers the Imam answered he said because throughout the day I
[27:39]make numerous requests to my Lord and I expect that my Lord
[27:48]fulfils every one of my requests so how is this I am
[27:51]ashamed that if someone comes to me with the request I read
[27:56]I deny that person's request subhanAllah when we pray we pray to
[28:05]allah subhanahu wata'ala and we expect that a lot fulfills our prayers
[28:11]and supplications none of us pray and say all my lord you
[28:13]know I want this I want that and take your time you
[28:18]want to do it you don't want to do it you want
[28:21]to fulfill it you don't it's up to you and I hate
[28:22]none of us know when we pray we pray as if was
[28:26]as if this thing we are in need of and we need
[28:31]it immediately but how many times do people come to us with
[28:35]requests and we denied their request we expect our request to be
[28:44]fulfilled but we are capable of denying the request of others the
[28:49]Imam was so close the man showed empathy towards others we are
[28:57]told in a famous tradition that one day a man from the
[29:03]Syrian region of the area and for those of you who are
[29:09]well versed in the history during the time of an amendment Hudson
[29:12]alehissalaam and before the time of Alabama husband during the time of
[29:17]Imam Ali alehissalaam there was a certain friend of animosity and hatred
[29:22]coming from the syrian reed region towards especially the imam and the
[29:26]annual basis this was exemplified first in mahalia the son of abu
[29:33]sophia and his war against amirul mumineen and the muslims during the
[29:38]xalapa of the Imam it was exemplified and it was propagated history
[29:45]tells us that for many decades during the weekly sermons the Habib
[29:55]the preacher would publicly express contempt and would curse any of Nabby
[30:02]opponent on the pulpit it was mandatory for the preacher to curse
[30:06]any of Nevada so that region was the region in which what
[30:10]in which some individuals who lived there they expressed and animosity towards
[30:16]the Olympics so we're told that one day a man a visitor
[30:19]he comes from that region he comes to the city of Medina
[30:26]and when he arrives to the city of Medina he asked for
[30:31]the grandson of the Prophet for imam hassan ali salaam he told
[30:34]them tell me show me i've heard of this man by the
[30:37]name of al hasan IBN ali show me where he is so
[30:38]they guided him they told him this is al hassan he himself
[30:43]he narrates this man he narrates this tradition he says I approached
[30:46]him and I asked him I told him our Yule Hasan ibn
[30:51]Ali he said yes he said when he confirmed his identity I
[30:54]began to curse him and humiliate him I began to curse him
[31:00]with every curse word that I knew I humiliated him in every
[31:04]way that I knew possible he said after I finished the Imam
[31:12]he looked at me and he smiled he smiled and he turned
[31:20]to me and he said it seems like you are a stranger
[31:24]in this place you're a visitor you're not a resident of this
[31:29]area seems like you're visiting coming from a different place so if
[31:34]you are in need of a place to stay I can give
[31:41]you a place to stay if you are hungry and you want
[31:46]food I can give you food if you need clothing I can
[31:49]provide you with clothing if you need directions if you're lost you
[31:56]need directions somewhere I can help you find your way whatever it
[31:59]is that you are in need of tell me and I can
[32:06]provide for you the man says when I heard this from the
[32:08]Imam I became utterly ashamed I was so embarrassed I wish that
[32:15]the ground would open up and swallow me from my embarrassment and
[32:19]my shame for training him in such a manner and for the
[32:26]way that he treated me this is a result of a kind
[32:34]and compassionate heart a heart that is aware of the existence of
[32:43]others recognizes perhaps this person may be humiliating me because he or
[32:48]she is in need of something and it is my job to
[32:50]fulfill the needs of others to be of service whenever I can
[32:56]help others that I can help others this is the type of
[32:59]personality that any moment has an audience another he was kind he
[33:06]was generous he was good towards others and thus brothers and sisters
[33:11]as the followers of the ennovation it is important for us to
[33:16]follow in different steps it is not only important for us to
[33:22]know about them and to read their history and know the details
[33:25]of their lives but it is import important for us to act
[33:31]as their followers and we will speak about the sin shall lie
[33:35]on the upcoming knifes more in depth it is important for us
[33:40]as the amount did as the members of the annual basis for
[33:44]us to also be givers to also be aware and recognize others
[33:49]around us and to turn to others in kindness and in goodness
[33:57]whether this act is is big or whether this act is small
[34:00]the holy prophet muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa alayhi wassalam lama Holly ala
[34:08]muhammadin wa ala mom he says that you have grown mache and
[34:12]mineral Maroof do not belittle any opportunity for goodness for kindness don't

[34:37]come of soap on a lake even if it means something as
[34:42]simple as receiving others with what with a smile on your face
[34:46]smiling towards others even smiling towards others is an opportunity for goodness
[34:53]for kindness that should not be belittled that's when we meet others
[34:59]the least thing that we can do is smile towards them in
[35:04]another tradition the hadith tells us that allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala may enter
[35:12]into his paradise may rewards people into the paradise with what with
[35:21]removing a harmful obstacle from the path passing by in a path
[35:28]where people walk where people move and there's something harmful there's something
[35:32]small or big and harmful obstacle someone goes and out of the
[35:37]kindness of his or her heart for the goodness of others removes
[35:43]this obstacle the hadith says that if this act is done with
[35:45]sincerity this small act this simple act could be enough to allow
[35:53]one to enter into the paradise into that the holy prophet muhammad
[35:57]sallallahu alayhi wa sallam ala muhammadin wa ala muhammad he says in
[36:02]the context of the month of Ramadhan he says itself an hour

[36:16]God's punishment and receive God's reward not only by feeding many people
[36:22]it's very good to feed people during the month of Ramadan and
[36:25]in a few minutes of time of a Spartan Shama it's not
[36:29]just good there is not only great rewards in feeding large amounts
[36:34]some of the Companions they told me Allah to Allah we're not
[36:37]capable of feeding people in large quantities he replied to them he
[36:44]said it's a cone are well oh the Shipka tombola protect yourselves
[36:49]from the hell fire from God's wrath and acquire God rewards even

[37:09]water if done out of what done out of kindness if done
[37:14]out of generosity and it doesn't have to be monetary brothers and
[37:19]sisters yes one prominent way of expressing kindness is through giving money
[37:24]people giving people money helping financially but we can be kind in
[37:31]many different ways sometimes someone just requires us to listen to them
[37:35]they just need someone to listen to them we just give them
[37:37]a few minutes of time and what and listen to them give
[37:43]someone advice a youth is trying to decide which path he or
[37:46]she should decide to pursue for their career and you have experience
[37:52]give them a little bit of time your time and give them
[37:55]some advice from your experience this is an act of kindness this
[38:01]is an act of generosity and goodness a demonic father alehissalaam he
[38:06]says there is nothing greater than kindness nothing greater than kindness except
[38:13]one thing and that is what that is the rewards of kindness
[38:16]the rewards of kindness are the only thing that are greater than
[38:20]kindness this is the holy month of Ramadan for businesses we have
[38:27]now completed half of the month what is left of us is
[38:30]approximately less than half of the month of Ramadan this is the
[38:36]month of kindness this is the month of generosity this is the
[38:39]month in which we cultivate our kindness and generosity and goodness towards
[38:44]others i ask allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala the Almighty to give us the
[38:49]capacity to express kindness and goodness to those around us to accept
[38:53]our deeds and supplications and fasting during these holy days and nights
