[28:42]my dear brothers and the and the world class and religion to

[29:14]make any sense in our lives people needed religion in the past

[29:19]because they could not figure out how the universe works so they

[29:23]had to resort to supernatural beliefs but today with modern science we

[29:29]understand more and more how the world works how the universe works

[29:34]so i don't need religion to give me explanations i have science

[29:40]that's replacing religion and that science and religion are incompatible because with

[29:46]every new scientific study we discover that some aspect of religion was

[29:51]wrong this is the misconception in our sermon today my dear brothers

[29:58]and sisters i would like to address this very important misconception if

[30:04]we hold on to the pure teachings of the holy quran from

[30:10]the source of the ahlul bayt peace be upon them i'm not

[30:14]talking about all religions and all schools of thought i am particularly

[30:19]speaking about take the teachings of the holy quran from the ahlul

[30:27]bayt if you abide by this formula that the prophet gave you

[30:33]i leave behind me the book of allah and my ahlul bayt

[30:37]then you will find my dear brothers and sisters that with every

[30:41]scientific breakthrough allah subhanahu wa ta'ala reveals to you that his religion

[30:49]is the religion that the religion he has given us is the

[30:54]path to allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and it's absolutely correct and with

[30:57]every scientific breakthrough that increases your faith in allah subhanahu wa ta'ala

[31:03]in his religion and the holy quran every new scientific discovery confirms

[31:10]aspects of the holy quran one idea that many of our youth

[31:15]are struggling with and i've seen some of our youth lose their

[31:18]faith because of this fundamental idea when scientists discovered that there are

[31:25]human like figures here on this earth and they go back to

[31:29]hundreds of thousands of years sometimes millions of years that shook the

[31:35]faith of many muslims or many people who believe in the abrahamic

[31:39]faiths because their understanding was that the first human being was adam

[31:45]alaihi salaam prophet adam the father of humans and he only dates

[31:51]back to several thousand years some say seven thousand some narrations say

[31:55]ten thousand let's say fourteen let's say twenty now you've got these

[32:00]scientists discovering the fossils and the remains of human like figures that

[32:05]dates back to when sometimes three million years like like the discovery

[32:11]of hulusi if you remember three point two million years so how

[32:16]do we explain that when there are human like figures before that

[32:19]and the quran and the religion of islam tells us that adam

[32:23]is the first human being there's a contradiction here if we study

[32:28]the holy quran very carefully and we examine the teachings of the

[32:33]prophet and the ahlul bayt we find that the holy quran way

[32:36]before modern science confirmed that there were human like figures way before

[32:42]adam alaihi salaam read this verse in the holy quran when allah

[32:46]speaks about the creation of adam remember when god said to the

[32:57]angels i will create a khalifa representative on earth what did the

[33:05]angel say they said o allah you're going to create a human

[33:17]figure who's going to spread corruption and spill blood kill one another

[33:24]why did the angels say that they had not seen adam yet

[33:28]they had not seen the human race from adam how did they

[33:31]know that why did they make this objection because the angels had

[33:36]seen human like figures before prophet adam and so they thought adam

[33:42]and his children will continue the same thing being wild savages killing

[33:47]each other because those earlier humans they were somewhat wild living like

[33:53]animals killing one another so they objected to allah subhanahu wa ta'ala

[33:57]allah told them no this time it's different i know what you

[34:00]don't know the quran itself hints that there were human like figures

[34:06]before now when you come to the narrations of the al bayt

[34:10]my dear brothers and sisters you find that it's even more fascinating

[34:15]according to one hadith from the prophet the prophet says there were

[34:27]earlier adams and adam in the hadith means human like figure who's

[34:33]created from clay there were human like figures that go to two

[34:42]thousand years 2,000 times one thousand is how much two million the

[34:48]prophet in this hadith says they go back to two million years

[34:52]this is a hadith from rasulullah confirming this reality another hadith from

[34:59]al imam al baqir sallallahu alaihi wasallam he says before this adam

[35:04]the father of modern humans there were thousands of adams then the

[35:09]imam tells his companion he tells him look don't think you're the

[35:12]only human like figure allah has created so many before you and

[35:18]then the imam divides the history of these human like figures into

[35:23]seven parts he says you're in the seventh world the last of

[35:27]them there were six before you and then the imam says something

[35:31]interesting he says and don't think that on the day of judgment

[35:36]when the people of heaven go to heaven and the people of

[35:39]hell go to hell it's over allah will renew this earth allah

[35:44]will renew this universe and he will create other creations who will

[35:48]come and worship him allah's kingdom is much more vast than you

[35:53]human being you're just a speck in this universe that's the creation

[35:58]of allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and we even have a beautiful hadith

[36:04]attributed to imam ali ibn abiqalib alaihis salam in which he states

[36:09]just like you have cities here in this world there are cities

[36:13]in the stars subhanallah today scientists and nations are spending millions and

[36:20]billions trying to find life somewhere in the universe al imam amir

[36:24]al mumineen makes a reference to that don't think you're the only

[36:27]creation here these stars that you see they have cities just like

[36:31]you have cities if i think there is a clash between science

[36:37]and religion it's because i have not understood my religion my dear

[36:41]brothers and sisters our religion has so much depth and the more

[36:45]there are scientific advancements and breakthroughs the more we understand the depths

[36:50]of our religion religion gives you purpose in life my dear brothers

[36:57]and sisters you know one of the objections of atheists i remember

[37:02]i heard this objection once when a person was disabled they were

[37:06]born disabled and they were suffering one atheist made a very disturbing

[37:13]comment he said you people of religion why give this person false

[37:18]hope that there is a god that there is a hereafter and

[37:22]god will compensate you for the pain and suffering that you go

[37:25]through why give them false hope when there is nothing and you

[37:30]don't have proof that there is an afterlife you know this type

[37:34]of statement my dear brothers and sisters is a crime against that

[37:38]person you know why because what this atheist is telling this person

[37:44]that you the disabled person you're a worthless creature suffer and you

[37:49]will become dirt just like everyone else it's the atheist who's taking

[37:54]the hope from this person why do that is this fair you

[38:00]have a lord who created you for a purpose look at the

[38:02]design of the universe and allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says look you're

[38:06]not some evolutionary accident those people who want to worship science and

[38:11]negate religion you know what they're doing they're reducing human beings to

[38:16]some accident there's no purpose behind your creation some evolution happened somehow

[38:22]you're just some accident that was not pre planned by anyone how

[38:27]can you have purpose and hope when you're just some accident in

[38:30]this universe my dear brothers and sisters allah gives you purpose yes

[38:35]those who suffering allah says i'll compensate them look at my universe

[38:39]don't you see everything is based on a delicate system what makes

[38:43]you think you have no purpose in life when every atom and

[38:47]every electron is serving a purpose what makes you think you the

[38:50]human being have no purpose in life you have the greatest purpose

[38:54]in this universe and in this life it's those who attack religion

[38:58]those atheists who try to weaken the resolve and the faith of

[39:03]those people who are suffering based on what right you tell this

[39:08]person that you will die and become dust and there's nothing for

[39:12]you you're destroying the morale of this person whereas religion uplifts the

[39:18]morale of this person religion religion tells you even if you're suffering

[39:22]a few days here you're part of a plan devised by allah

[39:28]subhanahu wa ta'ala when allah subhanahu wa ta'ala creates life many people

[39:34]ask what is the position of islam regarding regarding evolution there are

[39:39]many types of there are many dimensions to evolution within one species

[39:43]from one species to another species we're not addressing that now but

[39:48]if science tells us that life evolved that in no way negates

[39:54]the role of allah subhanahu wa ta'ala allah can either directly create

[39:58]or allah subhanahu wa ta'ala can create a system that that allows

[40:02]for life to evolve a complex beautiful system how does that negate

[40:07]the existence of allah subhanahu wa ta'ala you see unfortunately they try

[40:11]to use these theories to negate the existence of god when this

[40:15]theory itself even further proves that there's an intelligent creator who gave

[40:20]you this system you know oftentimes they give you the example of

[40:24]the lottery many of you want to win the lottery right you

[40:30]get the lotto and land the lotto they tell you listen what

[40:34]are the chances of you winning the lottery very very slim but

[40:37]in the end it can happen this universe what are the chances

[40:41]of the universe just randomly being shaped the way it is and

[40:46]life evolving the way it is they'll say it's a very very

[40:49]small chance we admit but it can happen and the laws of

[40:52]probability demonstrate that it can happen just look at any lottery system

[40:58]it tells you that the chances are slim but somebody's gonna win

[41:02]you know what the fallacy they commit those atheists by using this

[41:05]example the lottery system didn't just randomly pop intelligent humans designed it

[41:15]who designed the lottery yes once you design the lottery you put

[41:19]the rules then it can generate random results for you based on

[41:25]the laws of probability in math but the lottery itself is a

[41:30]system that is created by someone intelligent okay we have evolution in

[41:36]this world evolution can't just hang mid air without a system evolution

[41:43]needs an entire system to support it that system which allows evolution

[41:48]to take place where did that come from who divine who devised

[41:52]that who created that other than allah assuming proven by science because

[42:01]even scientists themselves are discussing the details sometimes they'll take theories and

[42:08]act as if it's a fact yes there is a type of

[42:10]evolution especially within species but many other aspects of evolution they yet

[42:17]have to be confirmed by science in no way does that negate

[42:21]the existence of allah subhanahu wa ta'ala that serves to prove that

[42:26]we have an intelligent creator my dear brothers and sisters you're not

[42:29]some evolutionary accident you have a lord who's given you purpose in

[42:34]this life try to find that purpose my dear brothers and sisters

[42:39]let's not waste the opportunity allah subhanahu ta'ala has given us in

[42:43]this life and the best weapon that allah has given you is

[42:47]knowledge seek education seek knowledge literally from the cradle to the grave

[42:53]the more you seek knowledge the more you will appreciate the holy

[42:57]quran the more you'll appreciate the teachings of the ahlul bayt peace

[43:01]be upon them there is absolutely no contradiction between science and religion

[43:06]allah is the one who created the physical natural world and he

[43:10]created the laws and allah is the one who gave us our

[43:13]religion they have the same creator the same originator and they go

[43:19]hand in hand with each other if we think there's a contradiction

[43:22]it's because we have not understood our religion my dear brothers and

[43:25]sisters my dear brothers and sisters a couple of quick announcements and

[43:32]will end inshaallah in my arabic sermon i spoke about the guidelines

[43:38]for dialogue in the holy quran and how the holy quran invites

[43:43]all nations all people to have dialogue on wednesday my respected father

[43:49]samahtas syed hassan al qazwini met pope francis in rome where 23

[43:56]religious leaders from the abrahamic faiths participated in the abrahamic faith initiative

[44:03]and the idea of this forum is to advocate for dialogue for

[44:22]positive consequences that this will have around the world this will invite

[44:27]more than half of human beings on earth today's population is over

[44:32]7,000,000,000 more than half of that they follow the abrahamic faiths 2,000,000,000

[44:39]or so christians 1.7 1,800,000,000 or so muslims that in itself represents

[44:47]half of the world population if these world religions come together for

[44:51]dialogue that sets an example around the world my dear brothers and

[44:55]sisters to build bridges towards one another and the holy quran invites

[45:01]everyone appreciate and celebrate the diversity allah has created on earth the

[45:07]races the colors the languages these are the signs of allah it

[45:12]was a very successful meeting and my respected father asked the pope

[45:17]to play a greater role in establishing peace around the world and

[45:21]calling on different nations to come to peace secondly my dear brothers

[45:26]and sisters days ago grand ayatollah sayyid ali sistani may allah prolong

[45:32]his life underwent surgery and alhamdulillah the operation was successful and he

[45:40]had the surgery done in the holy city of karbala and recently

[45:43]he returned to the holy city of najaf we ask allah subhanahu

[45:47]wa ta'ala to bless him with a speedy recovery and we ask

[45:52]allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to protect all of our marajah and scholars

[45:56]and we ask allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to grant a speedy recovery

[46:01]to all the mumineen and muminat i specifically would like to ask

[46:07]you my dear brothers and sisters to recite surah al fatah for

[46:11]the recovery of our dear brother al hajj abu ali hamada who's

[46:16]undergoing surgery also a brother by the name of muhammad has asked

[46:21]us for his shifa let's pray for them and everyone that you

[46:26]know who is struggling with their health let's recite surah al fatiha

[46:30]and ask allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to bless them with a speedy

[46:34]recovery
