[0:11]foreign one of the most revolutionary inventions of our day and age
[0:32]that we see today as this smartphone this smartphone has completely changed
[0:41]how we live our lives this small device my friends has replaced
[0:51]the need for so many other gadgets and devices because look at
[0:56]it it's small but it contains within it trust me i'm not
[1:01]doing an advertisement for apple wait and you'll see what i'm talking
[1:06]about it's a very small device even though i think apple maybe
[1:08]should look at my lecture and and i don't know we can
[1:12]work together anyway it's a very small device but look at how
[1:15]many other devices and gadgets it replaces number one you find it's
[1:23]a phone it's a pager it's a calculator it's a computer whatever
[1:28]you can do on the computer you can do on the smartphone
[1:31]it's a gps system before we used to buy those gps systems
[1:36]you don't need it now it has a thermometer it has a
[1:42]calculator it has a radio it has an mp3 player all these
[1:44]devices and gadgets that you needed before have all been consolidated in
[1:50]this one small smartphone and we human beings have become so reliant
[1:56]on these smartphones many of us we begin our day with the
[2:03]smartphone right as soon as we open our eyes we reach our
[2:08]hands to get the smartphone and then because we can barely open
[2:11]our eyes and it's dark in the room right we open the
[2:14]phone we have to decrease the brightness of course so that it
[2:16]doesn't hurt your eye and then the first thing we do i
[2:21]check my missed calls i check my messages i check my emails
[2:25]i check sometimes even my social media how many likes i got
[2:28]how many retweets i got posts so on and so forth so
[2:33]the first thing we do many of us when we wake up
[2:34]is that we begin with the smartphone and we end our day
[2:40]with the smartphone how many people they fall asleep with their smartphone
[2:44]in their hands right the last thing we do we go in
[2:48]our beds and we take this this thing that we love this
[2:52]piece that has become like a body organ that we can never
[2:54]leave we take it to our beds and while we are sleeping
[2:58]on the bed it's over our head and we're just scrolling and
[3:01]watching the news watching videos watching social media correct and sometimes because
[3:05]it's over your head how many times because of how heavy this
[3:07]is becoming it falls on your face i'm sure it's happened to
[3:11]all of you right but we still don't stop we don't learn
[3:13]we take it right over our heads and subhanallah sometimes you even
[3:19]see some funny gadgets or some funny accessories on amazon you see
[3:23]a bed mount so that now you don't have to hold it
[3:25]and it falls on your face now there's a a mount where
[3:30]you can clip it to your to your desk or to your
[3:33]bed and then the mount will be right in front of you
[3:36]and you put the smartphone in front of you in bed so
[3:38]that you can watch and scroll and then fall asleep so the
[3:43]first thing we do when we wake up is we reach to
[3:47]our smartphones the last thing we see before we sleep is our
[3:50]smartphones and in between during the day the whole day we are
[3:54]glued to the smartphone correct when we eat some people you see
[3:58]them on the dinner table even in iftar watch tonight they're eating
[4:00]but at the same time they are what they are checking their
[4:03]messages they're scrolling they're watching their facebook they're watching a movie so
[4:08]when we eat or on facebook there are now complaints from many
[4:11]teachers children as early as the you know as nine years old
[4:17]10 years old 11 years old they're bringing their smartphones to class
[4:20]they're not listening to class because what they're on their smartphones people
[4:24]when they're coming to the lectures instead of listening to the lectures
[4:27]they're what they're just scrolling on their smartphones inshallah not my lecture
[4:32]brothers and sisters to the extent that you see some people even
[4:35]when they go to the bathroom i see they take their smartphone
[4:39]to the bathroom they won't leave it for a single second it's
[4:42]like a body part speaking about the funny accessories i saw once
[4:46]an accessory it's called a toilet smartphone mount instead of you know
[4:51]when we're on the sitting on the toilet instead of five minutes
[4:55]and then leaving we sit for 30 minutes because we get carried
[4:57]away with our smartphones that's why we fight over the bathroom each
[5:01]one needs to take 30 minutes now there's mounts even in the
[5:05]toilet even in the bathroom so that you don't have to hold
[5:07]the phone so that you can take care of your hygiene while
[5:11]you beautifully watch that video of yours so we have become so
[5:15]addicted to these smartphones and every part of our lives you find
[5:20]that the smartphone we have relied on and that's why when you
[5:25]read the statistics statistics tell us that in the us the average
[5:31]screen time is how much seven hours check your phone now the
[5:34]iphone has screen time you will find that most of you will
[5:39]find that the average screen time how many hours you're using the
[5:43]smartphone is seven hours a day and this is not you know
[5:47]one of the most countries that uses the smartphones seven hours is
[5:51]pretty modest do you know which country uses the smartphone the most
[5:55]on earth screen time try to guess it you will never guess
[6:00]it unless you have read the study make a guess where saudia
[6:07]no china no one more try yella throw a name pakistan no
[6:16]the country with the highest screen time no as south africa you
[6:24]said i'm so sorry i missed it i couldn't i couldn't hear
[6:27]you south africa is the highest country on earth with screen time
[6:32]how many hours did they watch how many hours screen time 25
[6:36]hours a day i'm joking 11 hours a day screen time so
[6:42]half of their day can you believe it and you know we
[6:46]sleep eight hours so that only leaves 16 hours of those 16
[6:49]hours 11 hours they're on the smartphone so this is their life
[6:53]they're living in this phone so like i said it's truly become
[6:57]an addiction and i'm sure you've seen many articles on the internet
[7:02]you've heard many lectures from speakers telling you about the dangers and
[7:06]the risks of screen addiction and we have to reduce the addiction
[7:10]because it's getting out of control we are living in the smartphone
[7:13]instead of it what helping us no we are becoming addicted to
[7:19]it we can't live without it and to an extent that's true
[7:23]to an extent there are many harms and risks that are associated
[7:27]with the smartphone and if i don't want to speak about you
[7:30]know the serious harms how you know we can do haram with
[7:34]it or how sometimes it is breaking up the families and marriages
[7:37]if i don't want to speak about the serious problems that are
[7:43]rising because of our addiction to screen time the most basic problem
[7:46]of this smartphone you know what it is how much we waste
[7:51]time those seven hours brothers and sisters the iphone even now and
[7:56]i'm sure samsung has it it shows you a breakdown of how
[7:58]you are using how you're spending that gadget how you're spending your
[8:04]phone you will realize brothers and sisters three-fourths of it for most
[8:08]people a waste of time what are we doing we're scrolling on
[8:10]facebook we're scrolling on twitter we're scrolling on tick tock sometimes you
[8:15]see are you three hours a day just one video after another
[8:20]one video after are they learning anything no is it productive no
[8:24]is it benefiting your dunya is it benefiting your dunya no is
[8:29]it benefiting your achara no complete waste of time one funny clip
[8:33]after a second funny clip after a third funny clip never ends
[8:36]two hours three hours check your facebook brothers and sisters screen time
[8:40]check your tick tock screen time and check your instagram screen time
[8:43]sometimes we're spending way too much time and it's all useless it's
[8:48]an addiction that has absolutely no benefit one of the names of
[8:54]yom kiyama brothers and sisters is yom al-hasra it is called the
[8:58]day of regret the day of sorrow do you know why not
[9:03]only we will regret sinning when i see that other people in
[9:08]the community they send less than me and they advance and they
[9:11]received a much bigger prize i will not only regret sins i
[9:17]will even regret wasting time allah subhanahu ta'ala gave me so much
[9:22]valuable time every hour that allah gives you as priceless brothers and
[9:26]sisters and if it goes it will never come back brothers and
[9:31]sisters you can do so much within this one hour on the
[9:34]day of judgment allah will give us our book i will see
[9:37]my book of so i'm holding my book of and i'm just
[9:41]scrolling i'm just you know going through it for some people it's
[9:45]all haram haram sins of course these individuals they will regret the
[9:49]most for others it's not the sins they will see page one
[9:54]facebook page two facebook page five hundred face facebook page five thousand
[9:57]twitter page fifty thousand tick tock couldn't know waste of time my
[10:01]book of ammar is all a waste this is my life my
[10:06]life is a bunch of hours of wasting time on social media
[10:08]do you know the regret that we will find that we will
[10:11]develop on the day of judgment because i could have used that
[10:14]five minutes that 10 minutes that one hour at least do this
[10:19]beer i will realize one test be how much tawab has the
[10:22]hadith of the prophet says that if you read allah gives you
[10:27]the thawab of reciting one-third the quran how long does quality take
[10:31]takes you five seconds ten seconds i see my book is absent
[10:39]of tasbih of diker of quran i could have used that time
[10:41]to help my parents to come to the masjid to attend the
[10:45]lectures to what to volunteer in my masjid to volunteer in my
[10:49]community instead i spent five hours a day six hours a day
[10:54]wasting time it didn't help me in my dunya i said if
[10:56]you're doing business on your smartphone fine at least you enjoy it
[11:01]at least it pays off you make the money and you enjoy
[11:03]it in the dunya but many times what are we getting when
[11:07]we're wasting time on social media allah nothing nothing okay i saw
[11:10]10 or 20 funny clips on facebook or on tick tock and
[11:15]then what did it increase my knowledge did it increase my wealth
[11:17]did it make my dunya better did it make my akra better
[11:20]nothing complete waste listen to imam ali says imam ali is narrated
[11:28]saying and know that this dunya is a place allah came you
[11:35]he brought you he gave you limited time he's trying you lam
[11:39]yaff [Music] he says that on the day of judgment when you
[11:51]see one hour pass by and you did nothing productive in it
[11:57]on the day of judgment you will regret it any hour that
[12:00]passes from this dunya and you did not do it to and
[12:03]you did not do anything to invest in your imam ali says
[12:07]on the day of judgment you will regret it i had 20
[12:11]minutes i was doing nothing for example i was driving i could
[12:15]have done vikkir i could have said subhanallah subhanallah subhanallah i could
[12:19]have listened to quran i spoke about the tawab of listening to
[12:24]quran so much good i could have done he says any hour
[12:26]you waste in the dunya then on the day of judgment it
[12:30]will come back to haunt you and you will regret it why
[12:32]did i waste it you know it's like the 23rd night you
[12:37]see how some people every minute they want to use it to
[12:39]invest in the achara they don't waste imagine someone later he's just
[12:44]sitting two hours facebook what are you doing imam ali says every
[12:48]day of your life if you waste time if you waste one
[12:53]hour on the day of judgment you will regret it you will
[12:56]tell yourself why did i waste this hour this hour could have
[12:58]made me so much you know more ahead this hour could have
[13:05]brought me so much more thaw up this hour could have put
[13:06]me for example instead of in the 10th level of paradise it
[13:10]could have brought me up to the ninth level to the eighth
[13:12]level to the seventh so we will regret on that on that
[13:16]day and unfortunately this smartphone is adding to this the waste of
[13:20]time that we spend every single day and because of that you'll
[13:25]find many people telling you that this is what this is a
[13:27]waste of time this is dangerous decrease your screen time tonight's brothers
[13:33]and sisters i want to give you a different perspective we've already
[13:37]heard the lectures about decreasing the screen time tonight i want to
[13:41]tell you the opposite i want to encourage you to increase your
[13:45]screen time tonight i want to change your perspective and i want
[13:51]to tell you that instead of decreasing your screen time increase it
[13:56]but however change the way that you've been seeing this device change
[14:02]the way that you've been using this device instead of highlighting the
[14:08]negatives tonight i want to highlight the positives because at the end
[14:13]of the day this device my friends is only a tool it
[14:16]can be a tool for good and it can be a tool
[14:21]for evil that's all up to you that's all dependent on how
[14:23]you use it just like the internet is the internet good or
[14:28]bad the internet can be good for some people they do haram
[14:30]crimes are done through the internet and it's also what it's also
[14:36]good it could be a force of good for example this lecture
[14:38]that is being that i'm reciting right now is being broadcast all
[14:43]over the world through youtube there are people if you go see
[14:47]the comments sometimes on the channel the youtube channel of this of
[14:50]this uh holy masjid you will find people from for example south
[14:54]america thank you say it we enjoyed the lecture people in africa
[15:00]people in europe people in canada people all across the u.s so
[15:04]instead of having having for example 100 people benefit here we can
[15:08]have the words of ahlul bait disseminated across the globe thanks to
[15:12]the internet so is the internet bad no it's only a tool
[15:16]likewise this device the smartphone is a tool you can use it
[15:21]for haram you can use it to waste time but you can
[15:25]also use this device to number one increase your faith number two
[15:34]strengthen your relationship with allah and number three to make religion easier
[15:39]that's a very bold claim isn't it this device that some of
[15:44]us see as the shaitaan and we should stay away from because
[15:46]it's an addiction and because of all these harms if you change
[15:50]how you use it this device can take you closer to allah
[15:57]and it can make religion much easier for you listen to this
[16:04]s the imam says that the dunya can sometimes be an assistant
[16:14]to your akhila meaning sometimes you can use the dunya to build
[16:18]your akhira you can use the dunya to invest in the achara
[16:24]wait a minute what is the imam saying dunya is the opposite
[16:26]of dunya is bad dunya is the opposite it's the antithesis of
[16:32]akhirah the imam says no sometimes if you're smart you can use
[16:35]the dunya which we see as evil to build your akhira it
[16:40]can be a means for your an assistant for your achara you
[16:46]just have to change your perspective and you just have to change
[16:48]how you use this now if i ask you is this gadget
[16:52]from the dunya or from the akhir is it a means of
[16:55]the dunya or of the achara most people would say no this
[16:59]is for dunya first of all it's expensive now smartphones are costing
[17:01]over a thousand dollars right second of all so much haram so
[17:08]much waste of time correct so this is not when you think
[17:10]of the smartphone you don't remember the you remember the dunya but
[17:14]if you change your perspective brothers and sisters and you change how
[17:17]you spend it it could be a means for your akhira as
[17:23]imam says sometimes the dunya can help you for the betterment of
[17:30]your achara how if you check my phone for example i fall
[17:34]in line with the national average i spend on average probably my
[17:39]screen time is seven hours it gives you a report every week
[17:42]on average i spend seven hours on my screen does that mean
[17:47]i have to decrease it does that mean it's bad is that
[17:51]alarming does that mean i have to change my habits no brothers
[17:54]and sisters because it depends how you're using their smart your smartphone
[17:57]and let me tell you how i use my smartphone and how
[18:01]i'm using it for my aqua so seven ways you can use
[18:06]your smartphones to assist you in your and in that way if
[18:11]your screen time is even 11 hours like the people of south
[18:13]africa that could be a good factor not a bad factor number
[18:17]one how can i use this for my number one use this
[18:23]to seek knowledge because there are so many books brothers and sisters
[18:27]there are so many books so many articles that you can find
[18:32]on this phone before i remember when i used to travel i
[18:34]had to take so many books with me i had to take
[18:37]stashes of notes with me i had to for example if i
[18:41]arrived to a place i had to find if there's a scholar
[18:42]he has books of hadith i would have to borrow it from
[18:47]him it was complicated now brothers and sisters i don't need to
[18:50]do any of that seeking knowledge has become so much easier because
[18:54]of this smartphone because it's small it's convenient it's light and i
[18:59]can take it everywhere with me and let me share how i
[19:02]seek knowledge through this number one there's an app called i shia
[19:07]there's an app on the smartphones i i'm sure it's on available
[19:13]on android also called i shia this app brothers and sisters contains
[19:18]20 000 books 20 000 books all islamic books if you want
[19:25]to see the quran you will find 100 books if you want
[19:31]for example books of hadith thousands of books of hadith the largest
[19:36]collection of hadith that we have 110 volumes how do you want
[19:41]me to carry that with me sahih it's difficult now it's all
[19:44]in this beautiful app you want books of ahadith you find it
[19:50]in asia you want books of jurisprudence you want books of arfan
[19:59]you find it in you want the hadith of the history of
[20:02]bait you find it in aisha and what's beautiful about this app
[20:05]is that it has the capability of searching so i know there's
[20:10]a hadith but i don't know which imam said it i don't
[20:14]know exactly what's the wording i know the beginning of it i
[20:16]don't know the end is it even a hadith you can beautifully
[20:20]search is this a real hadith or not because a problem we
[20:24]have many times because of social media people are just sending all
[20:27]these quotes with ahadith that are fake these are hadith are fake
[20:33]the imams never mentioned them so when such a hadith i receive
[20:36]it on whatsapp or wherever i quickly can go to aisha and
[20:39]within one minute i can verify is this hadith i just type
[20:45]it if i find it and which book is it is it
[20:49]in al-kafi is it for example is it in the book of
[20:54]sheikh sadhu which book is it so it makes research so much
[20:56]easier so when you come to my screen time yes you'll see
[21:01]seven hours but probably a good chunk of it is on aisha
[21:03]i'm reading books i'm reading tafsir i prepare my lectures brothers and
[21:09]sisters with this device i don't need any books asan i don't
[21:11]even remember the last time i opened the book it's all through
[21:15]this smart device and you tell me this is shaytan this is
[21:18]bad decrease your screen time no i will increase it and it's
[21:21]saving me time because it's fast and you can search so this
[21:24]is one app another app that i use and you should use
[21:28]brothers and sisters and this helps you in seeking knowledge is an
[21:32]app called the books of akam of the malaya you know we
[21:37]have many marajah correct each marjah has an opinion if i want
[21:42]to know the opinions of the different maraja when i am asked
[21:44]before i would have to go and take ten books i would
[21:48]have to read what said he says hakeem says he says allah
[21:52]says say that so 10 books i would have to go and
[21:57]look it would take me an hour now with this app you
[22:01]just type the masala for example seafood what is the law towards
[22:06]seafood what is the hukum of the seafood it will have it
[22:11]all gathered together say sistani says this say hakeem says this say
[22:15]it for allah says this you see how it makes it easier
[22:17]within one minute i can know the opinions of all the malaja
[22:23]so if you see my screen time is seven hours maybe half
[22:24]an hour of it one hour of it is trying to know
[22:29]the opinions of the malaya this is number two number three there's
[22:33]an app called rijalul hadith hadith is an app that has the
[22:39]names of all the narrators and it tells you if they are
[22:43]reliable or not when you see a hadith it doesn't mean necessarily
[22:48]it is it could be sahih it could be the if how
[22:50]do i know you have to look at the narrators the narrators
[22:54]there are hundreds of books wrote a 27 volume book hadith how
[23:01]am i supposed to find that narrator in this ocean of 27
[23:05]books right now there's an app just type the name type muhammad
[23:11]ali ibrahim and it will tell you right away who this person
[23:19]is which compact he's a companion of which imam is he reliable
[23:23]is he not reliable within seconds within seconds i'm able to tell
[23:27]if a hadith or not if it wasn't for the smartphone brothers
[23:31]and sisters it would take me hours to know if this if
[23:35]this narrator is authentic is this reliable or not you see how
[23:40]this smartphone has made seeking knowledge so much easier and if you
[23:43]go to the english world now these are all arabic you will
[23:44]also find so many books that bring you this content you don't
[23:48]have to go and buy them you don't need a huge library
[23:50]all you need is this brothers and sisters the book of el
[23:55]cafi has been translated many volumes of it in english and you
[23:57]can find a commentary on it and you can find it in
[24:01]the app store so this brothers and sisters can be a means
[24:03]to allah you increase your knowledge so this is number one the
[24:08]first way that you use the smartphone to seek nearness to allah
[24:13]is by seeking knowledge through the beautiful apps that it provides number
[24:16]two the second way that i seek nearness to allah through these
[24:22]smartphones maintaining family ties do you know how easy it is now
[24:31]to perform because of this before i remember i had some distant
[24:34]relatives i would talk to them maybe once every five years because
[24:39]i don't go to the country they live in and you need
[24:41]a calling card and every minute it costs like two dollars so
[24:45]i would call them probably once every five years now i talk
[24:49]to them once every week even if it's just a message a
[24:54]whatsapp message even if it's just a voice message salaam alaikum my
[24:57]dear cousin he's my third cousin he's my fourth fourth cousin it's
[25:01]so easy to maintain family ties because of all these apps because
[25:05]of facetime you know sometimes i have a family called facetime or
[25:10]whatsapp group video call subhanallah you see one of my relatives is
[25:14]in canada one of them is in california one of them is
[25:18]in iraq one of them is in iran one of them is
[25:21]in kuwait one of them in australia and at the same time
[25:23]we are having this beautiful session of every second of this phone
[25:30]call allah is giving me tawab allah has given me ajar why
[25:33]because i am maintaining family ties i am performing i am asking
[25:38]about my family members the hadith tell us that if you maintained
[25:42]good family ties you're always what you're always in contact with your
[25:46]family members allah will give you four things number one he will
[25:51]increase your risk your sustenance number two allah will prolong your life
[25:57]number three allah will ease sakaratil sakaratil are those final seconds when
[26:04]we're dying and it may be difficult for some people maybe a
[26:09]difficult time the hadith will make that transition death it will make
[26:16]it easier and finally it will make the stages of the day
[26:21]of judgment much easier you want all these benefits going and physically
[26:27]visiting or taking the phone and calling now you can do it
[26:29]with your smartphone so easily you can do it through the social
[26:34]media apps so instead of just scrolling and scrolling funny videos no
[26:37]talk to your family members talk to your cousins talk to your
[26:40]extended family member send them a message if you come for example
[26:45]you'll see in my whatsapp i have a group of all my
[26:49]relatives on my fam on my mother's side we're always keeping in
[26:52]touch i know what they're doing i know what they're going through
[26:56]they know what i'm going through we're always connected i have another
[26:59]group of all my relatives on my father's side i have a
[27:02]third group of my immediate family members because of these groups brothers
[27:06]and sisters has become so much easier i would not do surat
[27:11]like before before when i travel khalas i call my father once
[27:17]every five days i talk to my mother once a week especially
[27:19]if i travel internationally i would talk to my cousin or my
[27:24]uncle once every three months now sometimes every day once every week
[27:28]once every 10 days because it's easy it's cheap it's fast it's
[27:31]convenient everyone has it so you see how the smartphone can be
[27:37]a means for your akhira ali says be smart use the dunya
[27:44]to build your aqua this is dunya but i use it for
[27:48]my akhira so this is number two we said number one was
[27:50]what use it to seek knowledge because it has made knowledge so
[27:55]available and so convenient number two maintain family ties number three you
[28:00]know this gadget helps you with your salah your salah salat tomorrow
[28:06]my topic will be salah do you know how this helps with
[28:12]your salah how now two ways number one this device can easily
[28:21]conveniently help you find the you know before i used to travel
[28:23]a lot it was a pain for me to find the table
[28:27]i would have to look at the sun which way is the
[28:30]sun which way is the ease i would have to go ask
[28:31]people and the airplane i'd have to beg the you know the
[28:36]flight attendant please call the captain ask him she forgets i have
[28:39]to ask her again again now it's just one button one app
[28:42]the compass apps ah some people even if they carry a compass
[28:46]i don't know which way is mecca let's say i have a
[28:50]compass i don't know which way is my sahara i don't know
[28:52]especially when i'm traveling now the app tells you this is the
[28:56]qibla you just say allahu akbar you see how it's made it
[28:58]easy for us this is number one number two another way it
[29:02]helps us with our salah is how qibla you said it the
[29:06]first one what's the other way there's apps that tell you all
[29:13]the adhan times from now until 20 years you know exactly when
[29:16]fajr is when i'm fasting every night brothers and sisters when i
[29:23]want to tell the amsak when i want to see the aftertab
[29:27]i go to my smartphone i don't need a paper before print
[29:28]a paper carry it in your pocket i don't need that everything
[29:34]is in this when i travel i have a i have a
[29:34]connection in paris and amsterdam in london i don't know when when
[29:40]the time of salah is correct i forgot to check it before
[29:42]and i don't have for example internet now beautifully now you have
[29:46]abs that have all the major cities you're in paris it tells
[29:50]you this is the salah and it even lets you choose what
[29:52]your medhab is are you sunni are you shi are you say
[29:56]are you this you choose your madhab and it gives you the
[30:01]adhantam based on your medha if it wasn't for the smartphone we
[30:02]would not be able to have that so this is what this
[30:07]is number three this smartphone can help you with your salah it's
[30:11]a means to allah number four one of the beauties of this
[30:15]smartphone is that it contains quran and mafatir you know how much
[30:22]i read quran because it's so easy it's on my i have
[30:24]the quran app i don't carry the quran with me everywhere let's
[30:28]say i'm stuck in traffic check out the quran and read let's
[30:30]say i'm at the doctor and the doctor keeps on delaying me
[30:34]and delaying me what do i do i can't take the quran
[30:35]with me everywhere i open the quran app i read one page
[30:39]i read two pages i read three pages and it has you
[30:45]want to read it's all there before you had to carry this
[30:48]fat big book sahih now it's all there in this beautiful smartphone
[30:54]i remember once brothers and sisters i was in the plane it
[30:58]was leila so i asked the flight attendant very long flight i
[31:00]was going to the middle east or coming back i told her
[31:03]can i go and pray she said yes we have finished serving
[31:05]the food you can go and pray i went i prayed no
[31:08]one came to tell me ella get up i took out my
[31:12]smartphone and i read dua kumail 15 minutes because of my smartphone
[31:15]if it wasn't for a smartphone i would not read the aquaman
[31:17]because i haven't memorized the akumi i have memorized parts of it
[31:23]subhanallah i remember maybe 15 years ago i went to a trip
[31:25]with my father one day and it was this was before the
[31:31]smartphone age we tried to read the aquaman together and we kept
[31:35]on missing different lines we had to memorize it perfectly so i
[31:38]would remember one part my father would remember one part i remember
[31:43]saying ahmed water was there and then we remember that we skipped
[31:46]this line we skipped that it was a mess no it's so
[31:48]easy you want to read the aquaman it's all in this you
[31:52]want to read the al-sabah it's in this you want to read
[31:55]the it's in this and we carry it with us remember i
[31:57]said what's beautiful about it is that it's like a body organ
[32:01]it never leaves us it's always there with you so you have
[32:06]24-hour access to and to the holy quran and there's a beautiful
[32:10]ah brothers and sisters called nafila n a f i think e
[32:16]l a h download it from the app store it has everything
[32:21]in english all of them it's there in arabi it's there in
[32:24]english it's beautifully there at your disposal and you can easily search
[32:28]so this is number four the fourth benefits of this smartphone that
[32:34]it can take you to allah subhanahu ta'ala number five not just
[32:38]reading remember we spoke about this in my arabic lecture not just
[32:42]reading quran and mafia listening to quran in mafatir before we had
[32:45]to carry with us an mp3 player now this is your mp3
[32:49]player put quran in it and if you don't have to you
[32:54]have internet just go on youtube any dua that you want you
[32:57]can easily listen because of this you know when i go back
[33:01]to every day when i go home i have a one hour
[33:01]drive i don't waste that one hour because of this either i
[33:08]listen to the lift or i listen to for example of its
[33:13]leila i'm driving so i can't read so i turn it on
[33:15]and i listen to the if it's a little later i listen
[33:19]to ah i listen to baha i listen to dua if it
[33:24]wasn't for this how would i listen i'm not going to go
[33:27]buy an mp3 player i'm not that type of person i'll just
[33:29]probably spend the whole time just wasting time just you know one
[33:33]hour of drive because of this brothers and sisters i read more
[33:36]dua than ever before because it's so easy and it's so accessible
[33:39]and it's so convenient so this is what this is uh number
[33:44]five also not just listening to listening to lectures you know one
[33:49]habit i have when i'm on a plane i have an eight-hour
[33:51]flight or sometimes when i'm coming to the medjlist or i'm going
[33:56]to a far place i'm driving i download i download some lectures
[33:59]a couple of lectures of scholars whoever you like download them and
[34:03]listen to them if it wasn't for the smartphone this would have
[34:06]been difficult so instead of watching movies all these people are watching
[34:11]movies on the plane i take out my headphones sahih and i
[34:13]listen to one lecture two lectures three lectures i benefit there is
[34:18]moeva in it if it wasn't for the smartphone this would not
[34:21]be possible this is number five number six brothers and sisters this
[34:27]smartphone has enabled someone like me to have discussions with ulama before
[34:32]if i want to have a discussion with alem and najif and
[34:35]kom it would be too difficult no one would call long distance
[34:39]to have a 30 minute discussion now because of whatsapp you know
[34:42]many of my teachers who i had in home many of the
[34:46]ulama they have whatsapp and i what and i always discuss with
[34:49]them you can imagine i have many of my teachers back and
[34:57]forth whatsapp i send him a question he answers and then i
[35:00]reply and then he replies it's a debate it's an entire discussion
[35:05]unfolding on whatsapp isn't that beautiful before what's up before the smartphones
[35:10]i was not able to do that right now you ask me
[35:11]a question it's a question i can't find it in the book
[35:16]of i can easily reach out to for example some of the
[35:18]uh that know the opinions of a said sistani or any other
[35:24]merger before this was very difficult so this is number six it
[35:30]has made scholarly discussions with ulama very easy and finally number seven
[35:36]brothers and sisters this smartphone has made scholars accessible before if you
[35:42]wanted to ask a scholar a question it was hard you have
[35:46]to call the masjid during work hours and then only then you
[35:48]could ask now brothers and sisters i have so many groups me
[35:53]said muhammad baqar also we have groups that are dedicated to answering
[35:56]the questions of the believers whoever it is come and ask a
[35:59]question we have people from australia from new zealand from africa from
[36:04]asia from india from pakistan we have from all over europe we
[36:09]have some students even from south america we have people from all
[36:12]over the u.s and canada asking us questions this has made because
[36:16]the smartphone is there and you have whatsapp and whatnot this has
[36:21]made scholars accessible before if i'm someone living in a country where
[36:24]there's no alama how do i ask now it's so easy just
[36:29]go on facebook go on instagram go on twitter go on their
[36:31]accounts and send them a question and they will easily reply to
[36:36]you so when you come to the smartphone brothers and sisters and
[36:39]you see seven hours eight hours of screen time that doesn't mean
[36:44]it's a bad thing it just depends how you're spending it if
[36:48]it's all facebook and instagram and and the snapchat and it's waste
[36:54]of time just watching funny videos then this is wrong yes this
[36:58]is an addiction that needs to stop but if you're spending it
[37:03]seeking knowledge doing spending reading quran reading dua listening to quran listening
[37:12]to the listening to lectures if you're doing it if you're spending
[37:17]your time on your smartphone having discussions with ulama answering the questions
[37:22]of people then i will tell you this is what will help
[37:26]you in entering paradise brothers and sisters this will be the best
[37:29]assistant for you in your religion i ask allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
[37:33]to bless us all to accept our ask him to grant us
[37:38]the tawfiq and the ability that we are able to use these
[37:40]gadgets these na'am that allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has given us i
[37:46]ask them to enable us so that we can use them in
[37:48]the best and a
