An English Latmiya/Noha commemorating the martyrdom of our beloved tenth Imam, Imam Ali ibn Muhammad al-Hadi/al-Naqi (a.s), from the perspective of his grandson, Imam al-Mahdi (a.j.f.s). As if Imam al Mahdi (a.j.f.s) speaks to his Grandfather Imam al Hadi (a.s) longing to one day meet him whilst mourning over his martyrdom.

Poetry:
Grandfather, I've waited so long to meet you
Grandfather, how long must I be without you?
Grandfather, Hadi, it is me
Your awaited grandson, Mahdi
I present you words unspoken
Locked up in my heart that’s broken
Days slip by and we’re yet to meet
Your holy self I’m yet to greet
This separation carries pain
Just Like Rukayya’s and Hussain’s
Oh Hadi, my longing just will not subside
Oh Hadi, do you see the tears that I’ve cried?
Grandfather, I've waited so long to meet you
Grandfather, how long must I be without you?
I swear by the Alif Laam Meem,
By the great walk of Arbaeen
The two shrines and land in between
I swear by Zainab al Shaam’s queen
By time and the places I’ve been
I swear by the book and Yaseen,
That my heart craves one special scene,
The sight of you and your noor beams
I swear that, oh Hadi, I wish to meet you
I swear that, oh Hadi, my eyes crave your view
Grandfather, I've waited so long to meet you
Grandfather, how long must I be without you?
Known for being so generous
To any you’d spread your kindness
Your mercy you always upheld
In history your name is spelled
Written amongst such great legends
A true symbol of religion
Your legacy echos through time
Heard in eulogies and in rhyme
Oh Imam, from you I take inspiration
Oh Imam, just like the hundreds of nations
Grandfather, I've waited so long to meet you
Grandfather, how long must I be without you?
Grandfather tonight I mourn you
Killed at the age of 42
Martyred and so mercilessly
Just like our forefather Ali
Now in Samarra your dome’s raised
I look to it whilst you I praise
With tear filled eyes I send Salam
To the tenth leader of Islam
Oh great tenth, that poison how did they prepare
Oh great tenth, the thought of your death I can’t bear
Grandfather, I've waited so long to meet you
Grandfather, how long must I be without you?
You’re a star shining in the skies,
But your light unseen by some eyes
From your guidance, they turn away
They’re even shy to mourn this day
Their hearts are unable to grieve
I pray that this will be the eve
That to you they take a step forth
Like lost souls to the star of north
Oh great star, may every person find your light
Oh great star, and with you we all soon unite

جدي انتظرت طويلا حتى التقي بك
جدي كم سأظل بدونك؟
جدي يا هادي هذا انا
حفيدك المنتظر المهدي
اقدم لك كلام غير منطوق
محبوس في قلبي المنكسر
الايام تمر و نحن لم نلتقي بعد
نفسك الشريفة لم ارحب بها بعد
هذا الفراق يحمل الم
مثل فراق رقية و الحسين
يا هادي، عشقي لم يتنحى
يا هادي، هل ترى الدموع التي بكيتها؟
جدي انتظرت طويلا حتى التقي بك
جدي كم سأظل بدونك؟
اقسم بحق ((الم))
بمسيرة الاربعين العظيمة
الحضرتان و الارض التي بينهما
اقسم بزينب ملكة الشام
بالوقت و الاماكن التي ذهبت اليها
اقسم بالقران و ياسين
ان قلبي يتوق الى رؤية خاصة
رؤيتك و شعاع نورك
اقسم، يا هادي اتمنى لقاءك
اقسم، يا هادي عيناي تتشوق الى النظر اليك

تمنح طيبتك لأي شخص
كنت تمتلك الرحمة دائما

رمز حقيقي للدين
صدى ميراثك يسري في الزمان
مسموع بالقصائدو الاشعار
يا امام، استمد منك الهامي
يا امام، مثل مئات من الامم
جدي انتظرت طويلا حتى التقي بك

جدي الليلة انوح عليك
قتلت عن عمر الثاني و الاربعين
استشهدت بلا رحمة
مثل ابونا علي
الان في سامراء ارتفعت قبتك
انظر اليها و امدحك
بعيون مملوءة بالدموع ارسل سلام
الى قائد الاسلام العاشر
ايها العاشر العظيم ، ذلك السم كيف اعدوه
ايها العاشر، لا استطيع تحمل فكرة موتك
جدي انتظرت طويلا حتى التقي بك
جدي كم سأظل بدونك؟
انت نجمة تضوي في السموات
لكن نورك لا تراه بعض العيون
عن قيادتك يستديرون
حتى يخجلون عن عزاء هذا اليوم
قلوبهم لا تستطيع ان تحزن
ادعو في هذا المساء
يخطون خطوة نحوك
مثل الارواح الضائعة و نجمة الشمال
ايها النجم العظيم ، ليجد كل شخص ضوئك
ايها النجم العظيم ، و جميعا نجتمع معك قريبا.
