[0:11]muhammad the past few days were of course we are in the

[1:21]holy month of and the past few days we celebrated the birth

[1:24]of imam and hussain al-assad which falls on the third of shabbat

[1:29]in the fourth year after the hijrah and then the fourth of

[1:36]sha'ban coincides with the birth of the brother of imam and hussain

[1:39]abel who was born on the fourth of japan in the 26th

[1:45]year after the hijab and the fifth of shaabad is the birth

[1:54]anniversary of imam zainal hussain who was born on the 38th year

[2:03]after the hijrah on the fifth of sha and these three figures

[2:07]they have one thing in common and that is that they were

[2:12]all in karbala on the day of and they all helped preserve

[2:17]the religion of islam two of them imam hussain and his brother

[2:23]abel abbas were killed on the day of ashura and the imam

[2:28]jayden lived to tell the world and pass on the legacy of

[2:34]his father imam hussain so the birth of these individuals is a

[2:44]very important time and when we celebrate the births of the imams

[2:48]of the prophets of these holy figures we're not just celebrating people's

[2:53]lives people that lived 1400 years ago we're gathering to celebrate so

[2:58]that we can take lessons from their lives practical lessons that can

[3:03]apply to our lives today we try to take them from the

[3:08]lives of these figures otherwise why would allah subhanahu ta'ala throughout the

[3:12]quran mentioned names of figures why does god talk about asia musa

[3:16]ibrahim so many figures are mentioned in the quran the quran is

[3:23]not a book of stories the quran is a book of lessons

[3:24]it's a book of ayats signs that bring us closer to allah

[3:32]so before going into some of the lessons that we learned from

[3:38]these births i just want to for the barakah mention the story

[3:41]of the birth of imam and hussain just the background and he

[3:59]tells her what did you see she tells him i saw a

[4:05]piece of your flesh fall in my lap and i'm startled i'm

[4:09]worried he tells her you saw something good she tells him what

[4:19]does that mean i see a piece of your flesh fall in

[5:21]born so he tells her don't you know that allah has purified

[5:25]him and allah has cleansed him and this is in reference to

[5:30]the verse of purification then and the first thing he did was

[5:53]he recited the adam in his right ear and then the akama

[5:55]in his left ear and this is the first thing that a

[5:59]child should hear the name of allah and these traditions of how

[6:05]to treat a newborn child we learned them from rasulullah and the

[6:10]way he dealt with imam hassan and imam hussain and then of

[6:15]course he held him and he began to cry so asma was

[6:18]shocked she tells him why are you crying he's a newborn baby

[6:22]he tells her he is going to be killed by my ummah

[6:30]and this is narrated by all muslims he foretold the martyrdom of

[6:35]imam hussain on the day of his birth and even before his

[6:40]birth told the muslims it was something very clear as clear as

[6:45]day for the muslims that imam is going the muslims are going

[6:51]to be tested through imam and hussain and the imam and hussain

[6:53]is going to be tested and the added baits are going to

[6:55]be tested through the muslims and the debates are in a way

[7:01]that allah tests us allah tests us through their debate how much

[8:37]and hussain and the birth of and the birth of imams and

[8:43]we are inspired we take lessons we draw lessons from these births

[8:49]one of the most important lessons that applies to our lives today

[8:55]from imam hussain from this man and from all of those who

[9:01]stood for the truth is that you have to always defend your

[9:08]faith you have to always put your faith ahead of everything else

[9:10]my dear brothers and sisters holding on to religion is not always

[9:17]convenient religiosity it's easy to say i'm religious it's easy to say

[9:22]i'm a muslim but to hold on to religion in times of

[9:24]difficulties in times of tests this is a challenge this is a

[9:31]challenge that many people have failed many religious people many people who

[9:35]claim to be religious they felt people who saw rasulallah they saw

[9:42]the miracles of the prophet they filmed the test of religion people

[9:46]during the time of the admit they fell during in many people

[9:52]felt with regards to the debates many people failed holding on to

[9:55]religion is not easy and allah subhanahu wa ta'ala tells us do

[10:06]people think that they're going to just just be alive just just

[10:10]because you claim that you believe is that going to be sufficient

[10:13]on the day of judgment you're going to need to prove that

[10:18]you have believed and imam hussain has a very beautiful saying he

[10:23]says and religion is easy to have on the tip of your

[10:46]mouth it's easy to say i'm muslim it's easy to identify as

[10:51]a follower of the adventure but when it comes to practicality when

[10:54]it comes to action when people are tested the real religious people

[11:05]are very few the real religious people are very few these are

[11:09]the words of imam and imam and hussain is a he's an

[11:13]example of the fact that many people could claim to be religious

[11:19]many people could claim to be muslim yet they turn against religion

[11:24]so my dear brothers and sisters one of the most important lessons

[11:29]practical lessons that we learn from imam hussain from the admits is

[11:35]to put religion above anything else prioritize our faith imam al-hussein he

[11:42]could have lived a very comfortable life he could have lived with

[11:46]his family he could have lived very comfortable however imam and hussain

[11:52]chose god over everything else he chose god over everything else this

[12:03]is why when his arms were cut off on the day of

[12:07]what did he say he says by allah you have cut off

[12:28]my right arm but forever i shall defend my faith i shall

[12:32]forever defend my religion and the imam of my time yep this

[12:38]is very important my dear brothers and sisters if we're tested and

[12:42]allah will test us in various ways some people are tested through

[12:55]fear some people throw hunger some people through poverty some people through

[12:59]the loss of a loved one every one of us is tested

[13:03]in one way this is the sunnah of this life allah says

[13:06]this in the arabic language they say wow meaning this is a

[13:12]vow by god this this is to make it affirmative to make

[13:26]it sure that don't don't anyone think that you're going to leave

[13:32]this life without being tested have you seen anyone that wasn't tested

[13:35]in this life have you seen a single person that has not

[13:37]had some sort of trouble some sort of difficulty every single one

[13:42]of us the most important thing is that you have to prioritize

[13:46]faith this is one another very important lesson that we learned from

[13:50]these figures and from all of the those who speak on behalf

[13:55]of religion and the prophets and the imams and the advaita is

[14:00]that religiosity should not just be words it should not just be

[14:06]based off of emotions it should be based off conviction belief and

[14:12]understanding and mata this is very important today you ask many people

[14:18]what's your religion i'll tell you i'm i'm muslim the christian says

[14:21]i'm christian the jewish says i'm jewish the buddhist says i'm buddhist

[14:25]you tell them why many people don't have an answer many people

[14:29]will say oh because our family we're born in this family now

[14:34]yes if you were born into a muslim family you're lucky this

[14:39]is a blessing but you should not be muslim especially once you

[14:42]reach the age of maturity you should not be muslim just because

[14:46]you were born into a muslim family you should be muslim because

[14:49]you did your own research and you reached your own conviction to

[14:52]believe that this is this makes sense and this is what what

[14:57]distinguishes and differentiates islam from other religions islam is a religion of

[15:02]logic islam is a religion of proof come and talk talk go

[15:05]and debate go and study why you're a muslim other religions they'll

[15:08]come and they'll just tell you oh just believe just believe and

[15:11]you'll be saved no islam is not just believing in islam you

[15:16]need to have maharitha you need to have basila you need to

[15:19]have foresight and insight and you need to be able to know

[15:23]why you believe in what you believe and this is something very

[15:29]important imam and for saying on the day of he didn't just

[15:34]stand for the sake of dunya as some people come and accuse

[16:19]to see the reality of things when other people could not see

[16:24]reality of things imam hussain did see it was not fooled imma

[16:28]say knew exactly what was going to happen this is why before

[16:32]heading to karbala he stood in mecca and just as the necklace

[16:52]leaves its mark and goes around the neck of a girl and

[16:58]then he says even gave them the location now today some people

[17:22]they come and they say oh remember hussain he didn't know what

[17:24]was going on and he went and they they betrayed him no

[17:29]imam hussain had had knowledge of everything was not the brother of

[17:37]imam hussain and a loyal defender just because he had blind love

[17:40]for his brother remember because of god because of faith and because

[17:48]he knew him was his imam this is why he was loyal

[17:52]because otherwise a brother could give up his life for his brother

[17:56]we've seen that many times in battles and wars and a tribal

[18:01]in a tribal lifestyle a brother is willing to go and give

[18:03]up his life for the sake of the brothers was not like

[18:09]that wasn't loyal to imam and hussain because of tribal loyalty because

[18:13]of emotional loyalty and was loyal to imam hussain because he knew

[18:16]he was his imam he knew he was his leader this is

[18:20]why he was loyal and this is why in the ziyarah of

[18:26]in the ziyarah of and in the words of the imams in

[18:34]the words of imam assad in the words of imam zaynil he

[18:38]says foresight he knew exactly what he was doing his iman was

[18:53]solid unshakable this is why was greater so this is a very

[19:14]important lesson for us today my dear brothers and sisters you're a

[19:18]muslim you're a follower of the debate you need to know why

[19:20]and this is why it's very important for us to focus on

[19:26]education this is why it's very important for us to learn about

[19:29]god learn about the attributes the qualities of god learn about our

[19:33]learn about our faith and one of the the name of this

[19:38]organization that we're establishing one part of it is educational because we

[19:42]have you can't be muslim without being educated you can't be a

[19:46]a religious person without having knowledge and education and having math and

[19:53]conviction and we have to focus on that by focusing on knowledge

[19:56]and educating ourselves and educating our children and our families entered upon

[20:04]and hadith he why so they know god to acknowledge god and

[20:24]then he says once they know god then they will worship god

[20:39]and then once they worship him then they will not need to

[20:44]worship anyone else and then a man asks imam in hussain he

[20:47]tells them how can we know god so imam hussain is saying

[20:52]the first the first step towards religion is to know and this

[20:57]is why religion starts with seeking knowledge the first step of religion

[21:03]is maharaja the man he asks a man who's saying how can

[21:06]we know god than the imam he tells them through the rightful

[21:09]imam through the right imam that guides you to god and forbids

[21:15]you from that which is haram and this is why the position

[21:17]of imam is very important because it is through the rightful imam

[21:21]that you you reach god the wrong imam is not going to

[21:26]take you to god the wrong imam is going to take you

[21:29]to shaytan and away from allah subhanahu ta'ala the position of imam

[21:33]is very important this was the second point the third point my

[21:37]dear brothers and sisters we see imam and hussain and all of

[21:44]the allah and the messengers and the men of god what did

[21:48]they do do they plan on going to heaven alone or did

[21:51]they plan on taking as many people as they can with them

[21:55]here we have to learn to make religion inclusive to attract people

[22:03]to religion we have to bring people to religion my dear brothers

[22:06]and sisters throughout his whole journey on his way going to karbala

[22:13]even though he knows he's going to be killed he kept inviting

[22:15]people and he tells them he wasn't misleading them he tells them

[22:19]we're going to fight and i'm going to be killed but join

[22:21]me because you're going to be saved you're going to reach the

[22:26]better and imam hussain was inviting people imam hussain he brought his

[22:31]own family with him if someone is going to battle someone's going

[22:35]to war why would they take their family with them because imam

[22:39]hussain knows that this is the path towards victory this is the

[22:45]path towards hop and it requires struggles but make it inclusive invite

[22:49]other people invite people don't single out people don't make your religion

[22:53]and your group exclusive to only you and only people around you

[22:57]god's mercy is infinite god's love is infinite god's compassion and heaven

[23:05]is infinite invite people to religion if i it's understandable if it

[23:12]comes to this dunya you give money money is going to run

[23:14]out you give some something from this dunya it's going to finish

[23:18]but if you're giving the knowledge from allah you're giving the mercy

[23:20]of god you're sharing it with other people why are you worried

[23:23]all you have to do is tell people about religion all you

[23:27]have to do is invite people all you have to do is

[23:28]invite people through your akhla through your manners through your love through

[23:32]your through your compassion imam and hussain on his way to karbala

[23:39]a christian man converted to the religion of islam what happened he

[23:43]converted to the religion of islam and he was killed on the

[23:47]day of ashore john mawlana who was regarded in that society at

[23:54]that time although this is unislamic but as a you know from

[23:56]a different status he was an afraid slave on the day of

[24:00]hussain treats him the same way he treats his own son so

[24:05]let religion be inclusive and this is a lesson for us my

[24:09]dear brothers and sisters we have to reach out we can't just

[24:14]focus on our own circle for decades and years we've been doing

[24:17]dawah we've been telling people about islam it's only the same people

[24:23]when are we going to go and start telling the world about

[24:27]islam when are we going to go and tell non-muslims about the

[24:30]religion of islam and it's time it's time that we start but

[24:34]in order to do so we have to fix ourselves and this

[24:39]brings us to the fourth point the fourth lesson my dear brothers

[24:43]and sisters these members the advait they were individuals that weren't just

[24:49]talk they practice what they preach imam hussain a lot of us

[24:54]we know him happened hussain just because on the day of we

[24:56]don't know anything else about the life of a member hussein was

[25:01]a man who used to practice everything that he preaches and when

[25:07]you see what kind of a person he was when he prays

[25:11]when you see what kind of a person what he was when

[25:15]it comes to his connection with the quran when you see what

[25:17]kind of a person he was and all of the others imam

[25:21]saying abdi and the others how were they when it came to

[25:23]treating poor people and treating those who were in need you see

[25:26]that this person yes this person he would go and give up

[25:32]everything he has on the day of ashura imam hussain just as

[25:37]an example imam hussain his connection with the quran a man a

[25:42]teacher teaches one of the children of imam hussein he teaches one

[25:51]of the sons of imam hussain that we all have memorized alhamdulillah

[25:57]imam is saying the son the young child he comes and he

[26:01]recites it in front of imam and hussain imam and hussain he

[26:12]he gives them jewelry some people they come and they say what

[26:58]the name of the praises of the family of abu talib he

[27:12]he lives outside of medina in the desert he entered into medina

[27:15]he needed help so this man he wanted he didn't want to

[27:20]waste time he says guide me take me to the most generous

[27:23]person here tell me who the most generous person is here so

[27:28]they all tell him go to the house of abba go to

[27:33]imam hussain so the man he goes to imam hussain and he

[27:36]sees imam and hussain is praying in the masjid of rasulullah he

[27:41]stands by the door and he waits until the imam finishes the

[27:46]prayer and he begins to recite this poetry he begins to say

[27:57]he says whoever comes to you and knocks on your door you

[28:16]are generous and you are someone who i could rely upon your

[28:22]father was the one who exterminated the the non-believers if it was

[28:35]not from you and from your family the hell fire would have

[28:39]fallen upon us because you guys are the ones who guided us

[28:44]so imam al-hussein the hadith says imam hussain finished his prayer and

[29:57]and hussain begins to recite he says take it but i'm apologizing

[30:06]to you he's giving him four thousand enough he says take it

[30:27]but i don't have more to give you and if i had

[30:32]more i would have given you more the man he took the

[30:34]money and he began to cry so imam hussain tells him is

[30:39]it because it's little is that why you're crying he said no

[30:43]i cry because how can soil be poured over a generous man

[30:50]like you how can a generous man like you be buried within

[30:53]the soil these were the other debates these were this was imam

[32:37]that so my dear brothers and sisters practice what you preach if

[32:40]we want to tell people about islam tell people through your o'clock

[32:44]tell people through your manners tell people through your generosity tell people

[32:48]through you appreciating the quran the fifth point and final point is

[32:54]that these individuals they teach us their reliance on allah to always

[33:00]have tawa and reliance on god at all times if you rely

[33:05]on god let the whole world turn against you and you have

[33:11]allah you're still the winner if god is with you and the

[33:13]whole world let it be against you this is what we learned

[33:18]from the debates on the day of 30 000 stood against him

[33:24]by imam hussain he stood strong and he kept his reliance on

[33:30]allah subhanahu wa ta'ala he kept they kept hearing the beautiful duas

[33:36]of imam al-hussein you are my the one who i will turn

[33:55]to you are my you are the one who will save me

[33:56]when all else turn against me i'm saying the same imam says

[34:03]which we will recite during the month of ramadan he says he

[34:10]says he says through remembering you my heart survives through talking with

[34:28]you i have pulled down the pain in my heart and this

[34:33]is why these individuals despite all the challenges that they saw they

[34:38]remain strong if one of us our family members are killed they're

[34:45]killed we see all that suffering we would collapse he saw all

[34:50]of his family killed in one day remain strong imam hussain allah

[34:57]describes him as the one who has and rest assured my dear

[35:16]brothers and sisters once again i congratulate you on these auspicious births

[35:22]and we ask allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to make us from those

[35:25]who follow in the footsteps of the debate now inshaallah we will

[35:33]conclude
