[0:00][Music] I'm alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh the longer form which means may the
[0:09]peace blessing and mercy of Allah be with you the term Allah
[0:14]by the way is the same term used by Christian Arabs and
[0:17]Christian Bibles to speak about the same entity in fact I my
[0:25]research I found in some encyclopedia that the term for God in
[0:31]the aramaic language which is supposed to be the language of the
[0:36]blessed Jesus peace be upon him the turn for God is Allah
[0:42]in Arabic Allah because they're all Semitic language it's not used as
[0:46]much in the why but my colleague at st.
[0:49]Mary's actually in the legislature said that it it doesn't appear much
[0:53]in the Bible but I think it's a book of Daniel there's
[0:58]some reference that uses all talking about the same entity anyway now
[1:03]we heard the recitation I didn't know what the brother were going
[1:08]to the site and we heard interpretive translation my dear brothers here
[1:15]maybe I'll carry from this by making a couple of comments on
[1:23]that key verse in the Quran and by the way for those
[1:25]who want to check it and see the context of the whole
[1:29]chapter or surah it is chapter 49 and that particular verses number
[1:35]31 3 the comments concisely the speaker he is is God because
[1:40]Muslim believe that this is the word of God dictated to the
[1:46]Prophet that should not be very strange for our Jewish Jewish and
[1:49]Christian brethren because if you look at the Ten Commandments didn't say
[1:54]God revealed to Moses say to your people this even though we
[1:59]have no assurance in this were the exact word for well but
[2:04]the message the style thou shalt and thou shalt not obviously indicate
[2:08]that the speaker there is God himself I just want to to
[2:12]the variety of interpretation what revelation means they are variety of forms
[2:17]of Revelation so that's a message but to whom is that message
[2:26]directed it is not directed to any particular group of people or
[2:30]any race or color or even religion for that matter school because
[2:35]if it intends if the Quran intends to address Muslims in particular
[2:44]it is only in areas only in areas where it relates to
[2:49]the duties of Muslims as Muslims so when the Koran speak about
[2:56]the duty of doing the five daily prayers fasting charity and so
[2:59]on there is no sense of addressing all people because that is
[3:03]their duty having chosen Islam but most amazing is that Universal concepts
[3:10]whether its concept of mercy the concept of piety or others it
[3:22]addresses humankind this is a subtle difference that many people don't notice
[3:26]in the Quranic address you analyze the verses that speak all people
[3:30]and you find that they relate to something beyond addressing any particular
[3:36]religious community even if that community is also green so that's one
[3:42]about first observation you had asked all of you and all of
[3:45]you means all of you really and some listen some don't but
[3:50]the addresses to all addressing the common elements common humanity basic humanity
[3:54]of all and then it goes on that we created you my
[4:01]brother's son sedated its collector and correct rendering from a single male
[4:07]and female again the heritage of all humans which might have a
[4:13]nice meaning also in terms of looking at humanity all as one
[4:18]big family with all the diversity even among the unbelievers because that's
[4:23]included non-believers and God even has the right to choose their way
[4:30]okay but also some renders men Zachary no answer meaning also male
[4:35]and female and that's significant too if you'd look it from that
[4:41]perspective that the question of superiority of one gender or the on
[4:47]the other is not really the Divine Will it might be human
[4:55]biases or cultures died and then it went on we made you
[4:58]into nations and tribes Locke would have made it all one tribe
[5:04]or one nation or one race or one gender for that matter
[5:07]so we can avoid all that gender Wars what unisex love sort
[5:14]of sort you know we made you into nations and tribes diversity
[5:20]is an inherent law of the Creator in the physical sense in
[5:29]the demographic sense unity and diversity and diversity in unity but what
[5:33]is the purpose there could be variety of reasons we cannot totally
[5:38]discern the wisdom of the divine but in that verse there is
[5:42]something very important little arrow foo for those who know Arabic not
[5:50]literary for not to know the other phone interval meaning to know
[5:55]one another that means you initiate contact with others they initiate contact
[6:01]me not somebody sitting there waiting for us to come back jealous
[6:05]just like when you sit on or almost something like powerful this
[6:09]is very interesting one that it is a mutual responsibility for people
[6:15]to get to know one another whether they know their cultures their
[6:21]beliefs their ideas but then the ending part of the verse connect
[6:25]us to some degree with a few words I wanted to say
[6:31]about the month of fasting it says in Attica in a Croma
[6:34]command Allah he at cosmetics the most owner of you who are
[6:39]those you an ass not only believers Muslims believers Islam because they
[6:46]it's continuing in the verse and since the address is to all
[6:50]humankind it follows that the end of the verse is addressed not
[6:56]only to Muslims but to all of mankind the most honored of
[6:59]you human beings in the sight of Allah are those who are
[7:06]at cockin the world at Cockrum come from a very interesting concept
[7:10]in the quran that some people translate translated in a way that
[7:16]doesn't reflect the depth of its meaning taqwa in the Arabic language
[7:20]could mean to avoid something subtle not for example to avoid something
[7:30]it could mean also piety but that's not as clear in fact
[7:35]the most comprehensive translation in my humble view of taqwa is the
[7:42]feeling of God's presence because all other meanings could come under that
[7:47]if indeed the person remembers God feel the presence of God we
[7:57]cannot do it 24/7 that's hard but as much as possible and
[8:00]this was reported that Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him can I
[8:04]ask Allah luckily I only used to remember God all the time
[8:08]you know could be walking in the street you make supplication whatever
[8:16]okay and it is that feeling of the presence of God if
[8:20]the person takes it seriously not pay lip service to that help
[8:27]the person to do what is right because you know God hears
[8:29]you sees you knows your thoughts and what you hide even in
[8:36]your heart it is that taqwa that make the person ashamed of
[8:41]himself or herself to disobey God or do indecent stuff okay it's
[8:46]not talk was not beards and turbans alone even me but that's
[8:53]that's the appearance that parents must be consistent with the inner taquoia
[8:58]also and that's what brings me to a few words about fasting
[9:03]it's known this month lunar month the nine lunar Martin the islamic
[9:13]calendar is the month of fasting is called ramadan the TM of
[9:18]lead the month and when you look at the current you can
[9:21]speak about all kind of wisdoms behind fasting however in the verse
[9:31]in the Quran in the surah al-baqarah the second surah the Quran
[9:36]it says fasting in the translation of meaning o believers fasting has
[9:43]been prescribed upon you as it has been prescribed or ordained on
[9:47]people before you a recognition of the good in all especially Abrahamic
[9:53]religions that have some form or fasting or the others such openness
[9:59]again even though that this is Muslim still keep in mind also
[10:03]others as well even when the other systems okay but what is
[10:11]the purpose given lolicon katakana so that you may attain that quality
[10:17]of taqwa the overwhelming sense of Maya of the presence of God
[10:22]in one's life I wondered what kind of meaning of fasting to
[10:31]those people have to reserve that month for the worst of bloodshed
[10:35]if one really feel the presence of Allah indeed not paying lip
[10:40]service or trying to mislead people by making religious claims then they
[10:45]wouldn't do that in fact the month of fasting is a month
[10:49]of spiritual rejuvenation that's what it's intended for spiritual rejuvenation through that
[11:01]concept of of aqua when the person goes through the hunger and
[11:07]thirst this year for about 17 and 1/2 hours drink is available
[11:16]water is available food is available why do you go through that
[11:20]but remind you of Allah I want to eat this No be
[11:24]patient so that is self-control and only those devoid of any mercy
[11:33]and their hearts are the ones who don't heed the lesson of
[11:38]fasting it is the month of charity you go through hunger so
[11:45]we practice hunger not just hear about hunger and that's why a
[11:49]lot of Muslims a lot of month I would say most Muslims
[11:51]actually pay their charity during the month of Ramadan so these are
[12:02]just a touch briefly on rejuvenation the new one renewal of friendship
[12:07]and we are all grateful after being grateful to a laugh cause
[12:11]the Creator to our brother Abu Ahmed and the other Souls people
[12:20]and man all the hard-working people I was just mentioned to his
[12:29]owners and brothers Jeff Regan when we having the food that this
[12:35]became a kind of welcome Richard angulate renewals at least we have
[12:42]a chance once a year to we've exchanged some words but I
[12:48]fully agree with what my brother rather also said earlier that the
[12:53]real value of Islam really and I believe also in my little
[12:58]knowledge of the Bible of what we find in Hebrew Scripture and
[13:05]the New Testament is the issue before we talk about legalism the
[13:09]issue of humanity the issue of love the issue of mutual coexistence
[13:17]peaceful and just coexistence I will into it this verse in the
[13:23]Quran in the translation it's a very important key verse in the
[13:31]Quran about the coexistence with others who not agree with you in
[13:36]whatever you will you it says Allah does not forbid you or
[13:40]Muslims from being kind and just with respect or in the treatment
[13:48]of those who do not fight you because of your religion or
[13:52]drive you out of your homes and these are two entitlement for
[14:00]every human being don't fight me because I'm a Muslim don't fight
[14:03]me because I'm Christian or Jew or hand or any ELISA there
[14:06]is no justification at least from my knowledge of the Quran if
[14:11]we understand it in its historical and textured context there is no
[14:14]license to fight with someone because you have a different religion or
[14:18]no religion in fact the Quran makes it very clear in chapter
[14:22]18 say this say o Muhammad this is the truth from your
[14:31]Lord whoever wills means to believe let him or her belief and
[14:35]whatever wills not to believe that someone are not belief so the
[14:41]exact term is presented with the full freedom of choosing faith let
[14:46]alone freedom in other areas like freedom of expression and entitled other
[14:52]entitlement so it goes on Allah does not for video if those
[14:56]people other people are not transgressing against you because Islam doesn't shy
[15:03]away from legitimate self-defense in the face of unprovoked aggression or oppression
[15:09]it is not a passive faith in that it which makes sense
[15:15]but with very restrictive code of conduct with very restricted and very
[15:20]hard condition I said honestly there so if they're not fighting you
[15:24]you have no right to fight against them as yesterday them in
[15:32]kindness and mercy just and peaceful coexistence this is my humble message
[15:39]and I believe that you'll be able to hear much better speakers
[15:45]and more knowledge also she always respected a man here again we
[15:51]allah bless you all and bless us all and help us to
[15:58]really realize on the ground not in words this notion of basic
[16:03]humanity and peaceful coexistence I thank you again and I hope you
[16:07]excuse me because I have some active diversion during the month of
[16:15]Ramadan most of the mosques in the area they have a special
[16:20]prayer every single night with many recitals of the Quran who recited
[16:27]beautifully it takes almost about an hour or so but it's very
[16:31]refreshing and again in the in the spirit of renewal and rejuvenation
[16:40]is accumulative salam alikum warahmatu language [Music] you
