[56:53]e s assalamu alaykum dear brothers and sisters it's lovely to have
[57:41]everyone here today we're blessed to have brother Hassan Al Kadri with
[57:45]us today inshallah um today's lecture is going to be a bit
[57:48]different it's going to be a bit more interactive than the usual
[57:53]inah we have these two bluetooth mics I'm I'm going to pass
[57:56]one to the sister's side and one to the brother's side if
[58:00]anyone is responding and and interacting with the she please just click
[58:05]the button at the bottom of the mic to turn it on
[58:08]and then click it again to turn it off when you're done
[58:10]with the question um and inallah just pass the mic around I'll
[58:13]put the mic at the front and just help help each other
[58:18]to give the mic mic to whoever's asking the question please welcome
[58:22]brother Hassan with a loud salawat oh m Al ahed muhamad m
[60:34][Music] IMI ald the first salaat is in the honor of the
[61:44]second is in the honor of the third is in the honor
[61:59]of IM IM the IM of our time in his honor do
[62:07]the salwat inshallah I greet you it's from the Sun of and
[62:27]the imams that when you do salaat your salaat needs to be
[62:34]your voices needs to be raised inshallah so to motivate you to
[62:38]motivate you there's a poem I've recited before but I'll recite it
[62:45]today inshallah the poet says for patience when we go back to
[63:33]the Quran and Allah subhah wa taala talks about the lives of
[63:39]the prophets the lives of the previous Messengers previous righteous slaves Servants
[63:43]of Allah and the prophets the likes of n Adam Isa IIM
[63:52]and our Prophet it talks about their life but it's more focused
[63:57]on not just telling us a story it's not just about stories
[64:03]it's to give us a examples from their lives how they dealt
[64:06]with their communities how they reached their objectives what was the way
[64:13]that they achieved it how did they deal with each circumstance and
[64:16]we see this always happening in their lives and they're going through
[64:22]trials and tribulations but there is one thing thing that's always in
[64:27]the center of their success and victory and that is sub patience
[64:32]when we go back to the we see when they talk about
[64:44]patience it's as if to say you have a superpower if you
[64:46]have patience honestly it's like super it's exaggerated excessively in the r
[64:55]everything we go through and every other attribute that we need as
[65:03]Believers always comes back to one thing Jihad fasting Sal dealing with
[65:14]our community our family our friends sa dealing with our children brothers
[65:21]and sisters sa always comes back to sa it's at the foundation
[65:25]of Im so today inshallah we want to talk about so the
[65:34]title of the lecture is the patience for Freedom the patience for
[65:40]Freedom how we so in this lecture we will talk about how
[65:47]to connect the two and what is required of us to do
[65:52]so that we have patience how do we acquire real freedom what's
[65:55]the connection between patience and freedom it's from the culture and by
[66:05]the way brothers and sisters like I said any questions just put
[66:08]your hand up put the mic and then ask ahead so it's
[66:11]interactive I'll will be asking questions as well so within the culture
[66:20]of the so the masters of Hadith when we say masters of
[66:23]Hadith we're saying they are narrators of Hadith they have mastered the
[66:27]Sciences of Hadith you would see what they would do is for
[66:34]example a good example of this is she he's a fourth Century
[66:38]scholar um he is someone that is known to have so he
[66:43]was born because of the Dua of IM and he has many
[66:50]important works that have actually reached us he has a book called
[66:54]Al the culture of alali and by the way he wasn't the
[67:00]only one that wrote a book like this you have also also
[67:04]another classical scholar another classical scholar you also have Shar who um
[67:11]M got me the book recently but to be honest if you
[67:15]when I started reading it it was like reading Chinese because his
[67:18]his uh his book was more specific about Baga of the Arabic
[67:23]language t and it was you know um it's a book that
[67:26]was very hard to understand but in his he has different chapters
[67:35]so each chapter will start for example it says sorry so M
[67:45]number 25 and he says so the one that's narrating the book
[67:48]will be saying for example that he narrated to us for example
[67:51]in this example here he says in mhad um so it was
[68:03]in and then he tells us the year the date the and
[68:07]everything so we get a very good U description of was when
[68:10]it happened and why he'll be narrating certain narration so for example
[68:15]in this chapter he start to talk about IM where is he
[68:20]MH when he goes to when it's the day of uh for
[68:25]example the 10th of M it talks about matters that are concerning
[68:31]to Ash so what I'm trying to do here today is follow
[68:35]that culture the culture of the so what we want to do
[68:40]is we going to focus on one Hadith but we're bringing we're
[68:44]bringing different from various different books to kind of give us a
[68:49]better understanding of the narration that we're talking about everyone's with me
[68:54]yeah yeah okay so the narration that we will start with I
[69:00]will go through the chain um and this is because it's important
[69:06]that we understand the importance of the chain of narrativ so the
[69:12]book starts the narration is in the book of Al so I'm
[69:16]going to ask you ask everyone a question okay show of hands
[69:21]I want to know who knows alfi so we got roughly just
[69:30]under 10 so the author of Ali the reason why I'm asking
[69:35]is look brothers and sisters we have we all agree on one
[69:40]thing in right what is the closest thing or the closest thing
[69:49]to that we have with us right now now of course we
[69:53]have the IM of our time but he's an occultation the closest
[69:57]thing we have to the is the that breached us so alfi
[70:06]was written by a scholar in the fourth Century his name is
[70:11]muham he narrates from his chain to Im so he says he
[70:22]says meaning a number of our companions now when a does this
[70:30]I'm doing this so in you can go back to these books
[70:33]of Hadith and when you're reading you're not getting confused what do
[70:36]you mean a number of our companions what does that mean a
[70:39]number of our companions usually every m is talking about a specific
[70:46]um teachers that he had that goes back to a specific narrator
[70:49]what he's doing here is is he's he doesn't want to constantly
[70:56]mention who the narrators are so he's basically just cutting it short
[70:59]but we do know who the narrators are from other Scholars for
[71:03]example we have from in his book now he was a 8th
[71:12]Century scholar so he's about about 4 to 500 years after Alain
[71:16]but he does say he says when he says and he's going
[71:23]back to so the change goes like this so just we're all
[71:25]in the same understanding if you don't understand just tell me I'll
[71:29]go I'll go over it's not a problem and number of our
[71:33]companions have narrated from Ahmed bin Muhammad bin khed so he says
[71:43]when he says that and he's saying a number of our companions
[71:50]going back to Ahmed bin Muhammad bin khid he means Ali ibim
[71:55]Ali abdah bin Ahmed abdah Ali alass now of course these names
[72:05]are we many of us maybe don't know who they are but
[72:07]that's fine I'm just trying to give you an understanding of what's
[72:11]Happening how when you go back to the books of Hadith what's
[72:13]happening so I'm giving you small fa inshallah anyway they discuss it
[72:20]other Scholars like and the rest of them they also discussed this
[72:25]topic there's a bit more depth to it as to where did
[72:30]get it from how did he what's his um when he says
[72:34]Al Kain said this when he meant a number of our what
[72:35]does it mean there's a bit of a discussion we don't want
[72:38]to get into it because it will complicate things so the first
[72:41]narrator is Ali bin ibraim bin Hashim I'm only using alib bin
[72:48]ibraim bin Hashim because he's the one that's considered trustworthy within the
[72:52]number of companions everyone on everyone's with me or is it again
[72:56]is it complicated everyone's with me yeah so the reason why I'm
[72:59]not mentioning the other three but him is because he has been
[73:02]authenticated by the scholars of Hadith okay so Al IIM anashi a
[73:13]fifth century scholar um authenticates him he's one of the Specialists when
[73:17]it comes to the narrators of Hadith he authenticates him Ali ibim
[73:24]is actually one of the narrators that's narrated over 7,000 in our
[73:32]Hadith Corpus so you imagine how important this individual is um some
[73:39]Scholars do state that he is the companion of imari and aladi
[73:45]but um there is a bit of a discussion as in we
[73:47]don't have any where he directly narrates from them states that this
[73:51]doesn't negate U the fact that he might have just been a
[73:56]companion but them Hadith didn't reach us so it's not a problem
[73:58]we go to the narrator that we were speaking about ahed muhamed
[74:04]again within the culture of the Masters of Hadith for example they
[74:11]would say if I was a narrator of Hadi they would say
[74:16]hassin Ali alondon why I'm from London I lived in London and
[74:21]this is I don't know about you guys but on my phone
[74:26]list I have you know Ali Ali Ali Ali so you got
[74:31]Ali I don't know clap of Junction Ali Ali just to know
[74:34]who I'm talking to because there's so many Ali so the M
[74:40]were like that what they'll do is is they would um always
[74:42]know him by the area he was from now the reason why
[74:48]it's called Al there was a there's a area I might butcher
[74:53]the the name because it's it's a Persian uh name uh Bara
[74:57]or some say barar it's a area in K if there's any
[75:02]Iranians sorry I apologize um so yeah but his family this this
[75:08]narrator Hadith his family were from kufa that came to because the
[75:18]Shia in kufa especially just before IM even in time and they
[75:24]were uh a lot of Injustice happening to them so a lot
[75:28]of them went to he gets he's authenticated by aash but they
[75:33]do mention again these are just small fa please bear with me
[75:39]yeah I'm just giving it to you it's not for me to
[75:40]sound intelligent or anything like that it's just for you to understand
[75:45]oh okay so there's a chain of narrators before you any book
[75:47]of Hadith when you come to it there's a chain of narrators
[75:49]then you get to the Hadith so this is how you're going
[75:53]to understand the chain of narrators so anyway they authenticate him he
[75:57]has a famous book that also reached us it's called um now
[76:03]this book Mah was considered to be from the reliable meaning back
[76:10]in the day there was it was from the fundamental books of
[76:13]the Shia we only the the only about a third of it
[76:18]has reached us as per the opinion of some Scholars then he
[76:24]narrates from who muhammadin so his father his father there's a bit
[76:34]of a discussion if he's authentic or not s goes with the
[76:38]opinion that he is not to get into too much detail but
[76:40]basically he narrated a lot from weak narrators of Hadith and people
[76:47]that and he also always used to kind of doal he'll disconnect
[76:51]the reports so they found that problem atic but generally speaking most
[76:57]of the um or shall we say some of the authenticate him
[77:01]then you have the third in the well the fourth in the
[77:06]chain is Al companion of IM again he's been authenticated by the
[77:12]scholars then you have Abdullah Bin musan he was a companion of
[77:18]IM and some some Scholars also put him as a companion of
[77:23]Imad are you are you realizing how the first narrator companion of
[77:31]imari aladi the other one Al and the other one IM and
[77:34]we're going down back to the Imam they are narrating from so
[77:39]again this is just so you can get an understanding and the
[77:41]next is um abas now abas in when you open up the
[77:47]books of Hadi you see a lot of ab the way for
[77:51]you to authenticate or to see who who it is you usually
[77:55]have to go through so many different chains to understand who this
[78:00]narrated which my daughter for example is called Maria so they would
[78:04]call me ABA Maria or Abu Maria there might be a lot
[78:09]of Abu Maria which Abu Mari is it which one Hass lendon
[78:12]or Hassan from Manchester who is it so here what we what
[78:17]we see is the scholars through their examination analysis they would say
[78:21]it's y bin ABI Alim who's been authenticated so now we'll get
[78:28]to theith so look what um IM says in this Hadi he
[78:40]says he says verily a free person is free in all conditions
[78:49]so let's ask now so we could get interact insh Allah what
[78:54]do you guys think that means just let's just show of hands
[79:01]don't feel um don't be uh shy let's see from brothers sisters
[79:07]he says a free person is free in all conditions I'll repeat
[79:16]one more time a free person is free in all conditions what
[79:22]do you think it means I think it means that um so
[79:34]as long you're slave to God only then you're free to everyone
[79:39]so you're obligated to to follow what's right regardless of any condition
[79:43]whether even even if it's death basically okay nice anyone else sisters
[79:49]follow so I think it means that freedom is ultimately a state
[79:55]of mind and not limited to anything which is existent in the
[79:59]D so it allows that Detachment very nice okay anyone else I
[80:09]think it means you're free um no matter any circumstance or situation
[80:15]you're free uh in the mind where your your Iman is undisrupted
[80:22]and it can't nothing can change it nothing can affect it very
[80:28]nice anyone else father yeah yeah so we're talking about Muhammad bin
[80:45]KH Al the father of the um narrator that we spoke about
[80:50]no no so he he he's considered authentic by a specialist and
[80:56]authenticates and so does people Mis kind of understand what Nashi another
[81:03]specialist that lived in the time ofi where he basically says that
[81:12]I'll go back to it here he basically says that um bear
[81:16]with me one second he basically says weak in Hadith not he
[81:22]is weak weak in Hadith so it's saying Hassan is not strong
[81:26]right in Hadi that's what he's saying he's not saying he's a
[81:31]liar he's saying or that he is weak himself he's saying he's
[81:35]weak in Hadith um even um there's a statement from where he
[81:43]said a contemporary to anashi he says his Hadith are recognized and
[81:47]denied he narrates a lot from the weak narrators and relies on
[81:52]Mel Traditions so that gives us understand understanding that the reason why
[81:55]he was weak in Hadith is because he took narrations from weak
[82:00]individuals for example you have let's say he's a weak narrator and
[82:03]I narrate from him then you have Saleem I narrate from him
[82:09]Zaki amen and then you got M who I to use M
[82:14]you know he invited me I have to so when I am
[82:16]I'm not a liar but I just relied on weak narrators of
[82:20]Hadith and as for how many chains that goes into the discussion
[82:25]of and um and um and that's a a bit of a
[82:32]long discussion but generally speaking nowadays most of the scholars they accept
[82:35]even if it's a singular narration okay so anyone else wants to
[82:40]comment on the the words of the Imam a free person is
[82:47]free in all conditions so I'll give you I'll tell you what
[82:51]there's there's a common Tru done oh sorry sister just a question
[83:00]um you said in Arabic but in English in all conditions so
[83:05]is it in his yeah his conditions yeah so in the conditions
[83:10]that he he lives in okay you should be a scholar of
[83:17]Hadith you're very that was good thank you um okay so I'll
[83:20]tell you there's a scholar his name is zani he has a
[83:25]book that is a commentary on alfi so what the narration we're
[83:28]talking about is in alfi alfi being the book of Muhammad he
[83:34]compiled these narrations and put it in his book Ali okay um
[83:40]he basically does a sh a commentary on all of the reports
[83:46]in Ali look what he says by the way I think all
[83:52]of you more or less got it right on a certain on
[83:56]a certain level okay he says the free is opposite to of
[84:02]a slave and the meaning of it here is the one who
[84:05]saved himself from servitude of psychological or mental desires and bodily pleasures
[84:15]and from the worldly chains of beauty is ever understanding what he's
[84:19]saying he's saying you are first of all he's explaining is someone
[84:26]that doesn't have a master but we all have Masters right we
[84:31]all do realistically but he's saying but here in this meaning is
[84:38]that you are not a slave to your mental psychological desires and
[84:46]bodily pleasures and from the worldly chains so the beauty of this
[84:50]world so you're not Shackled by the beauty of this world but
[84:53]then he continues mus is going to like this one he's he's
[84:58]into the spiritual stuff yeah and to direct the spiritual self to
[85:03]witnessing the Divine Light and the secrets of the lordship Allah muhamad
[85:14]so true so true Freedom isn't what it's been said in this
[85:22]generation in this generation no I want to go and have fun
[85:27]no I want to dress like this I want to eat like
[85:31]this drink like this go out to places like this they think
[85:34]this is freedom but the reality of it is that understanding of
[85:37]Freedom can never be true in any society in any Community because
[85:44]whatever Community you go to whatever country you go to there's always
[85:48]laws and legislations so you don't have total freedom it's just the
[85:52]so freed Freedom can never mean that so when someone says I
[85:55]want freedom that's not what we're saying no one can mean it
[85:59]like that it it doesn't work like that you for example I
[86:02]don't know about you guys when you're driving down kilin High Street
[86:05]it's 20 I definitely don't want to drive 20 I want to
[86:10]drive 30 it does my name but that's the law and I
[86:16]follow it Freedom isn't how they How the West tells us but
[86:19]I'll ask you something and with the current situation that's happen Happening
[86:24]Now Allah has a witness upon you all do you not see
[86:31]that the people of Palestine specifically I'm talking about because of what's
[86:37]Happening currently are they not more free than all of us here
[86:40]have you ever seen any of the any video of them complaining
[86:46]I haven't seen it not one single video have you seen what's
[86:49]been happening on social media I don't know if you've seen it
[86:54]or not do you know how many non-muslims have become Muslim because
[86:57]of the events that's happening they're like these people are not moaning
[87:02]they're not complaining a bomb comes down alhamdulillah a bomb come children
[87:08]that alhamdulillah all praise be to Allah look at the mentality that
[87:14]they have that is true Freedom look at the people of Yemen
[87:18]for how long nearly a decade of them getting bomb barded with
[87:25]bombs and killing look how poor they are wah they're more free
[87:28]than us they are more free than us and that is true
[87:34]Freedom look at Imam kav who his martydom is coming up who
[87:39]remembers har Rashid who remembers Al who remembers mua yazid who remembers
[87:46]these individuals does anyone dispute imass no does anyone dispute the character
[87:56]of Imam Hussein no does anyone dispute that Imam when he was
[88:03]in prison he was free he saw it as Freedom he saw
[88:07]prison as Freedom look at the mentality there's a story of a
[88:10]American Boxer I think it was in the 50s 60s I think
[88:16]it is he became a champion they used to call him the
[88:19]hurricane there's actually a movie about him um I think Den Washington
[88:25]acted as the um the character he they put him into in
[88:29]prison for basically because they were racist the police and he was
[88:32]in jail for I think two three two decades I think it
[88:38]was and then he wrote a book talking about how he deals
[88:42]with all these you know things that happens uh to him and
[88:46]how he's living in prison and he would write books and then
[88:49]about 20 years later a poor American Boy read this book and
[88:56]then somehow not to get into too much detail after many years
[89:02]of fighting for him in court got him out of prison look
[89:05]at the Bas that someone can have look at the superpower that
[89:09]someone can have was sa and Freedom the title of the lecture
[89:13]was what the patience for freedom freedom cannot be achieved only through
[89:20]sa only through sub will you achieve true freedom and I'll tell
[89:27]you something personal about my life those who know me know that
[89:35]I buried three children I've had three kids and I buried all
[89:38]three when my first son died Allah is my witness first thing
[89:45]I did I went into suud and I thanked Allah because I
[89:51]chose not to allow sadness to make me a prisoner because sometimes
[89:54]you become a prisoner in here the pressures of Life the psychological
[89:59]pressures that you have in your life all the mental things that
[90:05]go in your your mind I decid I said no I will
[90:07]not allow myself to go there and I thanked Allah subhana T
[90:11]but don't get me wrong mental scars stay and they will never
[90:15]go and when you bury a loved one Let It Be Your
[90:21]Father brother sister mother child it leaves an empty space in your
[90:24]heart that you can't fill it but you just learn to live
[90:31]with it patience is what allowed me to succeed when sadness was
[90:39]just coming in waves but I didn't allow it and that's how
[90:45]I got through all of this and by the way I'm not
[90:47]patient in everything in my life let's just I mean you could
[90:50]talk to my wife she'll tell you I'm definitely not not patient
[90:53]in everything in my life but patience is what will help you
[91:00]succeed in everything now I'll tell you let just respond the smallest
[91:02]of things you're about to go to UNI okay and you're walking
[91:10]to the bus stop a car goes by it was raining you
[91:14]get wet you're about to get to the bus stop the bus
[91:19]goes from the smallest of if you you have if you nurture
[91:26]yourself and you start to build patience in your life you're free
[91:29]nothing will get in you what what can they do I mean
[91:33]look what they've done to the Palestinians look at everything that they've
[91:37]done are they defeated no they're patient patience is is truly a
[91:44]superpower look at the prophets M Isa ibraim and our Prophet sallallah
[91:51]alai and and the IMs patience patience is what will help you
[92:00]succeed and get to Victory anyway but there's there's actually a beautiful
[92:05]story about Al mazandarani the guy the scholar that wrote the commentary
[92:12]of alfi interesting it was funny because I translated the quote here
[92:17]um of his commentary of what freedom is and he uh I
[92:24]don't know how and why I came across um the website of
[92:30]say alian he's lectured here before he has a website called and
[92:35]they've actually they translated and I saw I was like oh I've
[92:37]got to put but I thought of course I have to mention
[92:40]him just to give them credit inshallah so he says he says
[92:47]I am approved so this Al mazandarani by the way he was
[92:50]the okay I have to ask this question now who knows please
[92:55]tell me you you've heard okay there's more hands okay perfect so
[93:00]he from a few centuries ago his father was also a scholar
[93:05]his name wasand was married to the sister of no that's his
[93:17]daughter he married the daughter of but he married the sister of
[93:24]Muhammed the author of he says look look at this word he
[93:27]says I am a proof upon all students because no one was
[93:34]poorer than me and there were moments where I would not have
[93:38]any light to use for studying except the light that would be
[93:42]lit in the restroom so you imagine and excuse me for saying
[93:48]it he would have to go into the toilet to start reading
[93:51]he was so poor he didn't he didn't have enough money for
[93:55]candles my memory and mind was worse than everyone such that I
[94:02]would forget the way to my own home yeah he must definitely
[94:09]had a bad memory such that I would forget the way to
[94:12]my own home and forget the names of my own children Subhan
[94:19]Allah it was off after 30 years that I learned how to
[94:25]read the alphabets I put so much effort in my studies thereafter
[94:29]that Allah graced him with his favors his his sh is huge
[94:37]he's written so many books you he used to forget his children's
[94:39]names but look how Allah subhana tala blessed him we'll continue with
[94:47]the with the Hadith inshallah so Imad continues he says so a
[94:54]free person is free in all conditions even if hardship strike him
[95:00]he exercises patience if afflictions batter him he does not break down
[95:10]even if he is taken as a captive and is overpowered and
[95:15]his comfort and prosperity are changed into poverty and hardships you don't
[95:24]break no I will not allow myself to break see I think
[95:26]of this whole thing of because we are living in an era
[95:31]where there's so much going on mental health is on a rise
[95:33]and then there is that psychological battle that you constantly have but
[95:40]in my the way I started to kind of proceive this whole
[95:45]thing you see the imams when you go back to especially I
[95:52]I really recommend everyone go to alfi go to.net okay it's a
[95:56]website that has a lot of the translated books of.net go to
[96:03]alfi volume two and just read the imams are trying to give
[96:10]us and build within us different superpowers yeah I'm calling it superpowers
[96:14]honestly upon Allah super power patience super power Jihad ands superpower memorization
[96:25]superpower love superpower hate towards the correct things to hate Injustice oppression
[96:32]poverty and so on they teach us all these even by the
[96:37]way many of us to think think that um arrogance is fully
[96:43]bad no it's bad in most cases but our imams teach us
[96:50]that it's not bad against the tyrant being arrogant against the Tyrant
[96:55]is not bad it's a good thing so they try to build
[96:57]they're molding their sh this is what you need to do this
[97:01]is what even the Quran why is it giving you all these
[97:03]stories build you build you until you have all these superpowers because
[97:10]truly if you have all of this you go through life nothing
[97:14]bothers you all that's in front of you is Allah subhah wa
[97:19]taala all you want is Allah subh wa taala all you want
[97:25]to reach is the Perfection that was that the imams and the
[97:29]prophets reached that's all you want to reach but sometimes when I
[97:36]think about as I was saying sorry I I went a bit
[97:39]off track but the I think of it like this cuz I
[97:45]have family friends family that do got that have been through mental
[97:49]health problems and mental health has really affected their life life the
[97:53]way I see is is this you have the Quran and the
[97:59]Sunnah that gives you these tools to build your psychological metaphorical Castle
[98:04]see back in the day when they used to build the Fortress
[98:07]or the castle their main aim is no one can get in
[98:12]when an army wants to attack and I can attack them arrows
[98:15]can't hit me but my arrows can hit them so you've got
[98:20]to think of it like this I am building a castle when
[98:22]I'm building this Castle no nothing can get through sadness doesn't get
[98:31]through frustration doesn't get through anger doesn't get through I will not
[98:36]allow anything to get through because I've built such a powerful Fortress
[98:40]and there's a nice beautiful Hadith attributed to Imad um where he
[98:50]says the heart is a fortress and that Fortress is only for
[98:56]Allah subhanahu wa taala so once that Fortress the only thing that
[99:03]enters it is Allah how does anything else affect you and we're
[99:07]seeing it in in live action in Afghanistan in Palestine Iraq all
[99:18]of these countries that are War torn right any continue and the
[99:25]Imam says so I'll go back to we'll go back the whole
[99:28]way just so in case anyone forgot a free person is free
[99:32]in all conditions even if hardship strike him he exercises patience if
[99:39]afflictions batter him he does not break even if he is taken
[99:42]as captive and is overpowered and his comfort and prosperity are changed
[99:46]into poverty and hardships just as in the case of Yousef the
[99:52]the truthful and the trustworthy one whose Freedom remained unaffected even though
[100:00]he was enslaved Prophet yfam what happened to him his brothers left
[100:08]him in a well he was taken as a slave then the
[100:14]whole thing happened with Z he went into jail okay everyone's probably
[100:18]picturing the the series he went into jail he was free he
[100:25]was he was he was thanking Allah to going to prison so
[100:31]he says whose Freedom remained unaffected even though he was enslaved taken
[100:36]as a captive and overpowered the darkness and the loneliness of the
[100:43]world did not harm him nor did all that he went through
[100:46]until Allah granted him favors now listen to this he made the
[100:53]insolent Tyrant into a slave for him after his being his King
[100:58]he set him free and made the whole nation be kind to
[101:03]him this is how patience yields goodness you know I I don't
[101:11]know if you've seen it I saw this on social media I
[101:13]thought it was a really beautiful thing and it showed it showed
[101:18]a perspective of patience a side of patience so what it was
[101:24]it was um I think in America they have the UPS UPS
[101:27]is it UPS they do the deliveries you see them around here
[101:31]as well in central London and I don't know what state it
[101:34]was but it was you could tell it was very hot so
[101:38]this delivery man would always come and just throw it the people
[101:42]have a a ring camera yeah the you know the one front
[101:46]in front of the house and every time you throwing it throwing
[101:51]it I mean most of us I don't know may maybe on
[101:55]a bad day I I'll put Habi where you doing please what
[102:00]you doing but they chose not to do that what they did
[102:05]was they left a small I think it was a small fridge
[102:06]or something with snacks cold drinks and this guy comes and sweating
[102:13]and everything and he comes he's about to throw it and he
[102:17]sees a big sign saying um you're welcome to free drinks and
[102:21]snacks and he comes and he takes the stuff and it was
[102:26]like you see it like his face you know sometimes you could
[102:31]tell a lot by the body language his face changed and then
[102:36]he goes he kind of like you could see from his bu
[102:39]I mean no one interviewed him afterwards but you could see like
[102:45]oh like he grabbed the parcel just put it down took a
[102:48]few bottles of water and so on and snacks and and went
[102:54]on with his day so see how patience sometimes can really change
[102:58]things and how if you do have patience how it can change
[103:03]the circumstances a lot of different circumstances in your life so he
[103:08]says this is how patience yields goodness you must exercise patience and
[103:14]settle your soul upon patience and you will certainly be rewarded so
[103:19]this is the Imam telling us how father yeah that you know
[103:31]what that's a good question yeah yeah I think I think every
[103:38]situation like like I said um when my when I buried my
[103:47]children my alhamdulillah I'll be honest sometimes I wonder where it came
[103:55]from but I had patience but then the little things in my
[103:57]house I don't have patience it's just like and you're thinking why
[104:00]do I not so in every every situation but I'll be honest
[104:04]with you like now that I've been married for a few years
[104:09]now yeah I think this is just a small example you you
[104:12]have to practice it so for example I I'm the type of
[104:17]person if I put something here and someone moves it I go
[104:20]crazy I I can't handle it and and my wife will be
[104:25]cleaning or something I come back from work and she's moved it
[104:28]why did you do that but then but then it's kind of
[104:34]more like after after throughout the years you realize like listen it's
[104:38]not a big deal she moved it she was cleaning she doesn't
[104:40]need to concentrate at every single like you don't have to be
[104:45]you know a robot so it's all about for example I I'll
[104:48]tell you what does help fasting regularly and praying regularly praying the
[104:56]sunna prayers Sal especially honestly it's a game changer fasting and praying
[105:02]your Sunnah prayers do you get what I mean so it's it's
[105:04]kind of like it's it's like anything in life more you do
[105:07]it the more you'll get better at it so just that that's
[105:12]probably the best um advice I can give is to constantly do
[105:15]but fasting and praying your Sunnah prayers does help I've realized it
[105:19]personally anyway there's a um there's a beautiful Hadith um attributed to
[105:31]Imad it's also in alfi so alfi there's three different if you
[105:39]want to call it categories it has it starts of where it
[105:42]gives you it talks about matters matters of belief and then you
[105:48]have who talks about Juris Prudential matters Salah and things like that
[105:58]and then you have is more stories history and bio some parts
[106:03]of the biography of the imams but it's narrated there the reason
[106:07]why I say it's attributed in his commentary of he authenticates it
[106:14]but he basically says that he disagrees because um the narrator that
[106:20]narrates from Imam his name is is he disagrees on who he
[106:25]is there's a bit of a discussion we don't want to get
[106:27]into it now the Imam says do you sit in a place
[106:38]so he I I want you to focus and I'm going to
[106:42]ask you what you think is meant here do you sit in
[106:46]a place and narrate what you like and say what you like
[106:53]and dissociate from who you like and befriend who you like the
[107:00]narrator said yes the Imam says he says is luxury of Life
[107:12]anything other than this do you want me to repeat the Hadith
[107:17]again so he asked Imad is asked King muham muhamad so IM
[107:34]is asking do you sit in a place and narrate what you
[107:40]like and dissociate from who you like and befriend who you like
[107:49]he said yes so the narrator says yes and then the Imam
[107:55]says is luxury of Life anything other than this or is life
[108:01]anything other than this what do you think is meant here because
[108:05]here he's talking about I don't know if you've realized this more
[108:12]kind of patience but in a kind of from a different approach
[108:17]but then there's also a discussion of freedom and some form of
[108:23]of security matter of security freedom but what do you think anyway
[108:28]we we we'll give the floor to the um brothers and sisters
[108:39]everything's been created for Allah okay so I God wants to put
[108:45]me in that certain place and that certain environment I like it
[108:49]all cuz Allah created it I'm happy with what Allah has put
[108:52]me into and I'm sure Allah like won't show me anything bad
[108:57]cuz he's showing me nothing but love and mercy throughout all my
[109:01]life so I wouldn't say this is what the Hadi is intending
[109:09]um because remember he's asking the narrator do you sit in a
[109:13]place and narrate what you like what you like and say what
[109:20]you like and dissociate from who you like and befriend who you
[109:22]like father I think what it means is that um so are
[109:34]you capable of managing to let's say I don't know Dodge your
[109:38]desires your actual like are you like sometimes for example when I
[109:41]want to sin and I feel like oh God I'm sinning I'm
[109:44]I don't want to do this but I'm I'm trapped into it
[109:47]okay but at the same time let's say another time I I
[109:49]manag to judge it I feel so powerful like oh yeah I
[109:53]got I didn't do this so so so he's telling them are
[109:58]you capable of doing this and he says yes so then he's
[110:00]not sitting and then like he's superbly completely free let's say so
[110:06]yeah I think so I don't know um so um no the
[110:14]Imam is not really saying that focus on the words do you
[110:18]sit in a place and narrate what you like and say what
[110:20]you like and dissociate from who you like and prend who you
[110:27]like father so you've mentioned something about having and freedom yeah so
[110:33]for you to be away from what you like and narrate what
[110:35]you like you have sa and it's mentioned that after sa is
[110:40]fish so you're making sure that you have sa and patience because
[110:43]you know you are going to have that Fage afterwards and freedom
[110:47]as in you have that capacity of controlling your mental and spiritual
[110:52]and know that you have the freedom to choose that to be
[110:59]away from something or you know what I mean right yeah no
[111:02]no I get it um I don't think you're wrong but you're
[111:07]not completely right okay but um you're currently you're doing better than
[111:13]the brother's side oh um I think can you correct me if
[111:19]this is the right context like in the times of their moms
[111:21]and the companions they couldn't Express their beliefs um so openly in
[111:27]many situations many times yeah and so the Imam is telling this
[111:30]companion you don't know how lucky you are to now Express the
[111:33]true Islam the and especially when you talked when you mentioned the
[111:40]bit about you can't you can dissociate from people certain people and
[111:43]you can befriend certain people so that's what it reminded me of
[111:47]that yeah so brother tanir is 100% right the Imam is talking
[111:51]about um he's talking about father um is it saying like you're
[112:06]free but as in you have to be responsible um you're not
[112:10]wrong you're not wrong there's there's there's some some of that there
[112:15]like I mean like as in who you befriend who what you
[112:20]say I remember like K like for example don't befriend someone who
[112:24]swears and does weird things um so you're not far off it
[112:30]you're on the right track we're getting there yeah so it was
[112:34]a good it was a good observation anything from the sister's side
[112:41]so the Hadith in Arabic so he's basically saying do you sit
[113:11]in a place and narrate what you like and say what you
[113:15]like and and dissociate from who you like and befriend who you
[113:20]like the narrator said yes and he says is life anything other
[113:25]than this so he's saying the luxury of life is the luxury
[113:28]of Life anything other than this anything from the sister's side okay
[113:32]so like I said t is correct the imams lived in a
[113:38]they couldn't do everything they wanted even the companions of the imams
[113:43]so he's saying that ultimate freedom luxury of life for Imad is
[113:55]to be able to sit down narrate what he likes say what
[114:02]he likes do from who he likes and befriend who he likes
[114:08]he sees that as luxury so you imagine you know like in
[114:14]our heads when we look at Freedom we think freedom is is
[114:19]just you know didn't get time to play a bit of FIFA
[114:25]where's the brother that beat me last week two weeks ago is
[114:27]that you was it you oh where is he so something like
[114:32]that so you see um you see you know you don't get
[114:37]time to do the things that you like that's not luxury that's
[114:40]you you're thinking about something completely wrong for the Imam luxury is
[114:44]for him to sit down befriend who he likes disown who he
[114:51]likes and narrate what he likes and to narrate the there was
[114:54]you know there was a the Shia were persecuted for centuries that
[115:00]the companions of the imams had to keep the of hidden from
[115:04]the you know the general Muslim public to that extent there's a
[115:12]beautiful Hadith again I say attributed by the standard of some Scholars
[115:15]they um accept it um if you're are strict with your standards
[115:24]you wouldn't accept it but his it's a companion the companion's name
[115:28]is jab he asks IM again he asks IM may Allah have
[115:39]mercy upon you what is beautiful patience he says so what is
[115:54]beautiful patience again let's give the floor to see what people think
[115:58]what is in your eyes what do you think is beautiful before
[116:01]I give you the answer what is beautiful patience in your opinion
[116:07]is it patience that um you you do it and you don't
[116:10]feel bitter about it at the same time so you you're you're
[116:14]patient but then at the same time you don't complain you don't
[116:16]do this so just you're just patient and that's it yeah you
[116:23]done a good job I must say um okay he done good
[116:30]but I didn't say he's right anything else no this question you
[116:53]butcher this question can I ask where you from yeah that's why
[117:06]I did that father yeah so I guess it's having the patients
[117:14]to go through what you're going through without without knowing when the
[117:20]far is coming without knowing when this problem might be solved and
[117:25]you're doing it purely for the sake of Allah you know um
[117:27]so you're on the right track you're on the right track but
[117:31]you reminded me of a Hadith I actually have it here with
[117:35]me so this is this Hadith is definitely considered weak but it's
[117:41]attributed to the Imam and then there are some other evidences that
[117:46]might strengthen it Imad says so look what the IM said W
[117:52]this is very important he says we are strong to exercise patience
[117:56]so he's saying we are strong to exercise patience and our sh
[118:06]are stronger than we are it's a strong one no and our
[118:13]sh are stronger than we are I then said so the narrator
[118:22]of Hadith may Allah keep my soul in service for your cause
[118:25]how have your followers become stronger than you are I mean how's
[118:32]it possible look up from what perspective the Imam answers it's just
[118:35]to follow up what you're saying well it's a beautiful Hadi he
[118:38]says it is because we exercise patience in the matter that we
[118:47]already know but our sh or our Shia sorry exercise patience in
[118:52]matters of the reality which they have no knowledge of are you
[118:57]understanding what the Imam is say so this Hadith attributed to the
[119:00]Imam he's saying sh are stronger than us in EX in exercising
[119:07]patience because we have been given the Divine knowledge they are infallible
[119:17]we're not we don't know when something is going to happen and
[119:22]how it's going to happen not to say that the imams know
[119:26]everything in the future but they what we get from theith is
[119:31]that they have an understanding or a general understanding of the future
[119:38]is that the Imam is basically saying because we don't know the
[119:42]reality of things we have no knowledge of it but yet we
[119:50]exercise patience can you imagine for how many centuries our IM is
[119:56]in occultation yeah we're exercising patience I mean I must say for
[120:05]the last 20 years every war that happens my father's always like
[120:09]the Imam is coming and I'm like Dad I mean we have
[120:15]a Hadith that tell us you know there are major signs we
[120:17]can't we can't just say the major signs haven't had happen I
[120:22]know he's coming but Subhan Allah may Allah preserve my father he's
[120:27]still patiently waiting and he always makes Dua he says he says
[120:30]I wish that I'm alive when the Imam comes because I don't
[120:36]know if I'm worthy of being resurrected to be in his army
[120:39]um to answer your question yeah so you're on the right track
[120:44]we'll go back to the Hadith you're on the right track you're
[120:48]not wrong anything from the side we'll come to all right you
[120:55]can go yeah so about the beautiful patience right yeah I think
[120:59]to me when you think Beauty you think positivity and looking at
[121:04]patience as an opportunity rather than a negative or a trial or
[121:09]a tribulation I think a lot of the times when we think
[121:12]about patience we're thinking hardship and struggle and it's all very very
[121:16]negative but when you switch that perspective and you look at patient
[121:19]as an opportunity and a gift from Allah subhana tala to show
[121:24]him your patience through your love for him I think that's what
[121:28]beautiful patience is to me that that is that that's a very
[121:30]nice way of looking at it yeah so mine my point is
[121:40]an extension of yours where for me beautiful patience is a complete
[121:45]conviction and submission to God's plan and it being an exercise for
[121:49]for you to become closer to God and to do so with
[121:55]tul yeah ultimately practicing a sense of Grace which is what makes
[121:59]it beautiful and I think this is where the secret is is
[122:02]looking at looking at it as an opportunity to become closer to
[122:05]Allah as opposed to it being just a test against you so
[122:10]and I think as a Muslim you use these opportunities to become
[122:13]a better Muslim so it's a gift in that sense and that's
[122:14]why it's beautiful that's where the beauty of it lies essentially very
[122:20]nice anything else from the brothers so I think you're all right
[122:28]in a certain sense um because there's levels of the beautification of
[122:32]patients um but I'll tell you uh just as a side note
[122:40]you see think like this life is like you know sometimes when
[122:45]you go on Google Maps and then you put your destination and
[122:48]then your current location it tells you I don't know 50 minutes
[122:52]life is like a b you're just going from one destination to
[122:55]the next from birth to death that's it so the the problem
[123:03]with us Shia and forgive me for saying this like when I
[123:07]asked who knows alfi there wasn't enough hands if you don't know
[123:13]alfi which is our most authorative book of Hadith there is a
[123:17]major problem that means you haven't had a relationship with the by
[123:22]the way there are four books the four main books ofi is
[123:30]if you have never opened up these books there is a problem
[123:37]there is a major problem how are you understanding how are you
[123:43]going to navigate through life the sister spoke about being optimistic IC
[123:50]in in patience talking about not complaining all of these factors how
[123:56]are we going to know what is it oh okay only three
[124:04]minutes left oh okay I was going to go through half of
[124:06]alfei um so if we don't know these books of Hadith then
[124:13]how are we going to even know our imams how are we
[124:18]because look at the end of the day imams guides we don't
[124:21]know what the guide is telling us or where to go we
[124:26]don't know how to do how to achieve tul how to achieve
[124:29]patience that is a problem within itself we have to go back
[124:34]to these books I pray that Allah gives me the opportunity and
[124:37]time that one day we sit down and we'll have a brief
[124:41]discussion about Alf we'll just be like there there isn't a specific
[124:44]topic where we're sitting down you know the patience of freedom and
[124:49]all of that stuff stuff no it's not there it's just going
[124:52]to be we'll go through some go through chains but we just
[124:57]oh okay that's what it means when he said it that's why
[124:59]I I was mentioning the small things in the beginning about the
[125:01]narrators I'm just trying to get you get you to understand the
[125:07]different approaches that we have when we open up a book of
[125:08]Hadith and by the way when you open up a book of
[125:12]Hadith the reason why I was asking what's your opinion what's your
[125:15]opinion is just to see where your thoughts are but we always
[125:20]have to refer back to the books of the scholars to get
[125:22]the correct understanding that's very important anyway to give the prize to
[125:33]M the IM replied to jab ya when he said to him
[125:35]what is beautiful patience he says that is the patience in which
[125:41]there is no complaint before the people you don't complain I'll be
[125:46]honest with you sometimes I complain so I need need to get
[125:49]to the level of beautiful patience and I pray that Allah subhana
[125:57]T gives us patience in this life so that we can reach
[125:59]the highest ranks in Jenna inshallah I pray that everyone benefited Allah
[126:04]is screwing me now so I have to finish um and please
[126:10]don't forget me from your dasas I hope that um you learned
[126:13]something today inshallah please rise for [Music] duam [Music] [Music] [Music] he
[127:22][Music] for
