Did the Abbasid caliph want to kill Imam Mahdi (a)? -Qazwini

The caliph was very serious in seeking the Mahdi. When Imam al-Askari (a) passed away and was martyred in Samarra, the caliph had his guards storm into the house of the Imam (a). There were females in the house of the Imam (a). The caliph told the guards, “Bring midwives with you, any women who is pregnant, or you suspect she is pregnant, we have to imprison her.” So there was a lady in the house of Imam al-Askari (a), and they suspected she was pregnant. They actually took her and imprisoned her until it became clear that she was not pregnant. So the caliph was really trying to kill the Mahdi. This is not a joke. He was serious.
