[1:54]rasool allah muhammad o muhammad so my dear brothers and my dear
[1:59]sisters last night we began our discussion about this personality that appears
[2:07]in the quran only in this particular service errotica and nowhere else
[2:12]as he mentioned in the quran and this personality was who ignite
[2:21]very good a hundred a lot of a lot I mean I
[2:23]understand after a fog it's almost midnight the people are still in
[2:29]Arma I'm actually quite grateful to you guys for even being here
[2:33]I don't know how many cups of coffee you know have you
[2:37]had had had to have I myself would have probably needed some
[2:40]more but we're talking about dog 9 this personality who is mentioned
[2:46]in the Quran only in this surah surah calf nowhere else as
[2:51]he mentioned yet Allah subhana WA Ta'ala sometimes even in one verse
[2:56]a personality that may be mentioned in one verse or a couple
[3:01]of verses but due to the eloquence of the Holy Quran the
[3:04]beautiful way allah subhanaw taala describes that one personality even in a
[3:09]verse or two verses it describes to us it gives us a
[3:11]lot of information about what kind of character with that personality have
[3:16]here we have about for example a page of discussion maybe a
[3:21]bit more of this personality don't have a name last night we
[3:26]mentioned we started our discussion by first of all saying that when
[3:29]we take a look at historical anecdotes we need to take a
[3:36]look at them from an analytical approach as opposed to just stating
[3:41]the events without analyzing them we have to understand who was good
[3:46]who was bad what did the good do why did the bad
[3:50]do bad things why were they done and how can we avoid
[3:52]them or how can we mimic those with a great job so
[3:55]this is among the things we need to do when we study
[3:58]toric effects in addition we said that in Islam at hamdulillahi rabbil
[4:05]alameen out of the grace of allah subhana wa ta'ala we are
[4:08]blessed with so many stories in the quran as well as the
[4:11]characters of Ahlul Bayt salawatullahi wa salaam haunting image marine the history
[4:15]of Ahlul Bayt alayhi wa sallam that allah blessed us with all
[4:22]those stories all these characters who were real characters from whom we
[4:27]can derive real lessons people who dealt with real people and how
[4:32]they interacted with them as opposed to those who don't have such
[4:35]great personalities they create fictional characters from whom then they try to
[4:42]derive lessons that they implicate or they learn from under real life
[4:47]then we started our discussion about dhul-qarnayn we mentioned that it is
[4:53]said he is called a lion this is his title this was
[4:58]not his real name why was he given this title there are
[5:02]many reasons we mentioned the three reasons do you guys remember what
[5:07]what were they what was the first reason who was wearing a
[5:10]helmet with two horns which is the easiest one that's the obvious
[5:15]one kind of thing that comes to people's mind what else he
[5:19]ruled the east and the west the horn of the east the
[5:24]horn of the west so he kind of grabbed the horns of
[5:25]the world and therefore he is called canaan the man of the
[5:29]two horns and the third reason we mentioned which was stated by
[5:32]imam ali solomon llaha la in a hadith what did he say
[5:37]people beat him on his head once and they beat him twice
[5:40]and kind of created a couple of bumps on his head and
[5:44]that's what he was doing inviting people to the path of allah
[5:48]subhanahu wata'ala an imam and he said amongst you is one who's
[5:53]just like him referring to himself after he was beaten twice Allah
[5:58]kind of gave him a blessing a reward and a job and
[6:00]his edger was he allowed him and enabled him to rule on
[6:07]the earth because the man was dedicated genuinely for serving the cause
[6:10]of allah subhanahu wata'ala so allah reward alright so in the ayat'
[6:16]and so I tell KF which comments from verse number 83 why
[6:20]as Aluna can handle Canaan they ask you about dog 9 we
[6:25]mentioned that a group of flesh then unbelievers they went as the
[6:27]people of the holy book the scriptures about personalities that they can
[6:35]quiz the Prophet our prophet on so they told them go ask
[6:37]him about the people of the cave go ask him about the
[6:41]man who learned who Musa followed to learn from him and go
[6:44]ask him about the king who ruled the east or the west
[6:47]or the third question may have been go ask him about the
[6:49]soul so either way okay so they ask you about dhul-qarnayn say
[6:54]in respond all set Liu aleikum Minho vikre I will mention to
[7:01]you some verses of the Quran support ah and we mentioned that
[7:06]this is also a lesson for us when you're asked a question
[7:09]to reflect before you jump to the answer so the next question
[7:14]that we kind of left you with last night you remember what
[7:17]was the question what was the question that I left you with
[7:24]who was the man who was the per may here there are
[7:28]four answers that we may provide one according to one of the
[7:36]big son name of history in interpreters of the Quran commentators of
[7:40]the Quran by the name of Allah Ghazi al-razi suggests that such
[7:43]a king who rules the East and the West must have been
[7:47]someone who was well documented in history and there is no one
[7:50]according to him better documented in history that Alexander the Great and
[7:54]therefore he says the logname must have been Alexander the Great why
[8:04]because again he was a king - he ruled quite a vast
[8:05]majority of land three is very well documented in history about a
[8:11]king who really ruled a lot of vast spaces and therefore in
[8:14]his opinion Alexander the Great must have been dominating this personality okay
[8:19]well this is one opinion however this opinion may not be quite
[8:23]valid the reason is because when you take a look at the
[8:26]history of Alexander the Great yes he was a king yes he
[8:33]may have ruled the vast majority of land however he does not
[8:35]seem to be a believer a devout worshipper of Allah Subhanahu WA
[8:40]Ta'ala to the point that Allah describes the logname later on as
[8:44]we will read in nomicon Allah who fell out of we allowed
[8:47]him we allowed on Canaan to rule on the land it was
[8:54]given that opportunity and what else were artena who we gave them
[8:58]min kulli shay'in Sababa we taught him their laws the rules of
[9:05]how to make things happen how to get work done well Alexander
[9:09]the Great a person who did not submit to allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala
[9:13]the way allah wants to be submitted to could not have been
[9:18]the person whom allah says we gave him we allowed him of
[9:19]course he did work by the permission of allah subhana wa ta'ala
[9:27]so Allah you know inevitably did allow him but not that Allah
[9:31]communicated with Alexander the Great Allah kind of revealed to Alexander the
[9:35]Great that that apparently did not happen so that's why this opinion
[9:39]may not be quite valid because Alexander the Great's personality his character
[9:43]does not fit the description mentioned in the Quran about a king
[9:49]who submitted to Allah who believed in allah subhana wa ta'ala who
[9:52]was such a devout worshipper such a great leader etc etc so
[9:55]that's the first opinion though a second opinion there was a famous
[10:00]historian by the name of eben hashem eben hashem in his history
[10:07]he says no egg nein was one of the kings of yemen
[10:09]one of the kings of yemen yemen had some kings and dhul-qarnain
[10:16]must have been one of the kings in yemen and the damn
[10:20]that he built which later on we'll discuss inshaallah and the saga
[10:25]he built a dam one of the things he did according to
[10:26]the verses this dam that he build is the dam that was
[10:32]in yemen the dam of muhib that's the dam that he built
[10:38]so that's what he suggests but again that damn of MATLAB which
[10:42]was used to block the water does not fit the description of
[10:45]the dam built here by the logname as we will learn later
[10:51]on in sha Allah and the stories as to how he built
[10:52]this dam it's made of iron the dam of Magadh is not
[10:58]made of iron so the description does not fit either so that
[11:00]second opinion may not also be quite valid a third opinion which
[11:09]emerged kind of in the early 20th century by one of the
[11:13]Indian ministers and National Congress leader his name was Abdul Kalam Azad
[11:24]abul kalam azad did some research into this he came to the
[11:29]conclusion that don't Elaine may have been Cyrus the Great the Persian
[11:34]leader the Persian Emperor Cyrus the Great was a king who ruled
[11:42]a vast majority of the land it was a person who was
[11:45]kind he is even mentioned in the Bible as the person who
[11:52]assisted the Jews in returning back to their homeland of Jerusalem so
[11:56]he was a person that's mentioned in the Bible he fits kind
[12:02]some kind somehow the description that is mentioned in the Quran and
[12:07]there may have been a prophet who was associated with him who
[12:10]allows to reveal to him and he would tell Cyrus the Great
[12:15]as what to do and what not to do and that kind
[12:19]of fits the description so that's another opinion that's a third opinion
[12:23]and this opinion is mentioned by this scholar this Indian scholar that
[12:28]he was the Persian king Cyrus the Great Cyrus the Great however
[12:33]died in 530 BC 530 BC ok so just before Christ and
[12:41]that's what leads us to the fourth opinion the fourth opinion suggests
[12:44]none of the above it was a king who lived at the
[12:51]time of Prophet Ibrahim this is based on some tradition narrations 530
[12:54]BC does not match the timeline of a king who lived at
[13:00]the time of prophet ibrahim alayhis salam prophet ibrahim lived way earlier
[13:04]than that it is said in some of the narrations he was
[13:06]a king who lived at the time of Prophet Ibrahim in fact
[13:11]it said it is also mentioned that the first two people on
[13:14]the face of this earth in our generation of adam alayhis-salam so
[13:21]the progeny of our Adam the first two people to ever shake
[13:24]hands where volkl nain and ibrahim khalil allah they were the first
[13:30]two men to ever shake hands they met at the holy Kaaba
[13:32]and Canaan had his army with him when he saw brahim honey
[13:37]Lala praying there he approached him and humbly he extended his arms
[13:44]to shake that of Prophet Ibrahim so he extended his arm back
[13:49]to shake his hand so they both took each other's hands so
[13:52]there are these traditions now these are the four opinions the Quran
[13:58]itself did not tell us what was the name of this man
[14:04]which means it's not so important what's important is his actions what's
[14:06]important is his character that's what we need to concentrate on so
[14:14]while it's good to have these opinions but what's really matters is
[14:17]not what was his name but look at what he did nonetheless
[14:21]there are these the fourth opinions that we have so one opinion
[14:27]is as examiner the great by al-razi but might not be very
[14:29]valid the second opinion he may have been one of the kings
[14:31]of Yemen but again that also may not really fit the description
[14:35]the third opinion could be a Cyrus the Great that might be
[14:37]it it could be possibly but the timeline then one match of
[14:42]some of the hadith and the traditions and the tradition suggests he
[14:45]lived at the time of Prophet Ibrahim so it may have been
[14:47]someone else completely that again we don't know it's just the opinions
[14:54]that are out there now what happened with this great man or
[14:59]this great king says in a mcanally who fell Arif we enabled
[15:03]him McKenna we gave him the ability to go in the land
[15:10]to walk on the land and not only that were attained aha
[15:17]min kulli shayin Sababa we taught him the laws of how to
[15:21]make things how to do things for example allah subhana wa ta'ala
[15:26]allowed dhul-qarnain to utilize ayran he knew where to dig and look
[15:34]for iron not only that he knew how to make blocks of
[15:36]iron not only that he knew also how to build things using
[15:42]iron not only that he also knew how to dig copper and
[15:44]find copper not only that he knew how to mold copper into
[15:51]different shapes to all this required knowledge he knew a lot of
[15:56]things God Almighty taught him this takes us to a very important
[16:01]description what arte Naju min kulli shay'in Sababa we gave him the
[16:05]laws but he did something very important at Bahasa baba he followed
[16:10]these laws and that's important God sometimes gives us gift he gives
[16:16]us gifts we need to utilize these gifts sometimes we don't so
[16:25]this suggests to us that there are laws there is a system
[16:29]that Allah subhana WA Ta'ala has made in this universe and things
[16:36]go according to this system this is an important thing that I
[16:39]would like to touch upon brothers and sisters because this can take
[16:42]us to a really interesting discussion that is happening today there are
[16:47]several scientists and writers who asked the question does this universe have
[16:55]a creator do we have a maker or did we just come
[17:02]through an accident did the human being come onto the face of
[17:06]this earth go an accident or was it a calculated and measured
[17:12]creation this is a very important at serious discussion that's been taking
[17:18]place for centuries in fact millennia and it continues till this day
[17:25]and age those of you who know how to read Arabic well
[17:30]if I may suggest to you to read a book called kitab
[17:36]l80 judge by la la macabre see that book contains several discussions
[17:40]between an imam musa alayhis salaam and atheists of his time and
[17:44]surprisingly you'll find a lot of these discourses were taking place back
[17:48]then 1200 years ago between imam sadiq added salaam or 1300 years
[17:51]ago between the imam salaam Omaha lay and atheist of his time
[17:55]those of you who may not speak Arabic very well and cannot
[17:58]read Arabic very well there is another book which is really good
[18:03]it was first written in Arabic called kitab at tawheed Bashar Assad
[18:07]walk you'll have to write the whole thing so if you look
[18:12]for it online kitab al-tawhid Bashar Assad Oh Oh Sidhu at least
[18:18]my saddle this book was written over a thousand years ago in
[18:23]Arabic however it's been recently translated well in English a really good
[18:29]translation I'm not sure if the whole English corpus is available online
[18:32]if not you may have to order it however that's a really
[18:35]good book to read it contains again some of the arguments and
[18:40]discussions taking place between imam sadiq ali insulin and other imams among
[18:45]the atheists they're bringing up some of the arguments and is quite
[18:49]interesting to see it's right nice and good to see how the
[18:53]Imam salam ala they responded to some of these arguments which are
[18:58]still being posed today few years ago i was invited to have
[19:08]a discussion at the University of Alberta and Canada with a professor
[19:15]of philosophy who was an atheist and the whole discussion goes around
[19:20]whether there is a God or there's no God as there a
[19:23]creator or is no no creator the professor was more inclined towards
[19:32]a theory that's called humanism humanism theory just that we be good
[19:38]humans and therefore we don't really need religious laws us being good
[19:46]humans generally speaking the theory suggests people are humans natural kind to
[19:53]each other when they see someone for example falling on the street
[19:59]collapsed they would actually call the ambulance and try to help and
[20:03]instead of picking up the phone and just filming when they see
[20:11]someone drowning they would actually try to jump and save him instead
[20:16]of let's film them so because human beings generally speaking are kind
[20:23]to each other there's this whole theory of course I'm oversimplifying the
[20:27]theory so it's a big theory it's a major theory so this
[20:32]is very very way you know oversimplification of it but that's the
[20:34]bottom line that we can humanism you know we just like human
[20:41]beings now that theory in itself is not quite valid I'll tell
[20:45]you why I won't use the United States as an example because
[20:50]your leadership is kind of mean these days things have just not
[20:53]I'm gonna use Canada as an example you know I think you
[20:57]guys understand Canadians were always open minded open-hearted you know we're kind
[21:03]people were quiet you know you hardly ever hear about us in
[21:11]the news except when it's pretty good so I ask people you
[21:15]know generally speaking do you think Canadians are good people like yeah
[21:18]they're very nice people they're very laid-back so okay great well that's
[21:25]wonderful then how about this scenario what if the Prime Minister of
[21:28]Canada comes out and says Canadians you know will pretend you guys
[21:30]are all Canadians because I know you would love to have that
[21:34]but it's okay Canadians you're really wonderful people you're so nice you're
[21:41]great we don't need laws in Canada anymore just be nice to
[21:44]each other that's it that's all we need because you guys are
[21:47]really good Canadians you're really good citizens so be kind be good
[21:52]humans towards each other you think will that be valid will that
[21:57]hold why why not humanism be kind be good to each other
[22:01]what's the problem with that well first of all what is the
[22:06]definition of good define good I'll give you a very simple example
[22:14]two scenarios you have a business owner and you have employees okay
[22:18]so you have the employer and the employees okay the business owner
[22:22]says I'm going to be a good citizen good all right by
[22:27]all means being good according to me since I'm the business owner
[22:30]I have let's say 100 employees being good is if I can
[22:38]make more profit and this way I can pay more taxes and
[22:41]this way the state will make a lot of more money and
[22:45]that's really being good in order for me to make more profit
[22:47]I'm going to have to cut down on the salaries of my
[22:52]employees to five dollars an hour that will be really good fantastic
[22:55]this is being good the employees will come and say wait wait
[23:01]wait that's nonsense no no being good is we want $20 an
[23:10]hour for example you know because then it will give us a
[23:13]stronger buying power you know I'll be able to afford let's say
[23:19]a bigger house a better car things to buy for my children
[23:21]afford to go on a vacation and therefore I will drive the
[23:24]economy instead of you giving it to the state and the state
[23:28]will give it back to me no no I want to get
[23:33]it directly and let me pay the taxes if necessary well here
[23:36]how do you solve that problem what's good the employer is looking
[23:43]at being good and the employee is thinking of being good that's
[23:48]why the state needs to intervene and they have minimum wages they
[23:53]say you know what we understand you're an employee a employer we
[23:57]understand you own the business by all means however you can just
[24:02]pay your staff whatever you want to there are some minimum standards
[24:09]that you have to adhere to so you see why do you
[24:11]need these laws you have to have the laws otherwise will be
[24:21]chaos another simple example driving why do we need driving laws we
[24:27]live in a free country isn't that what the president says it's
[24:31]a free country you can do whatever you want in this country
[24:38]so why do have laws of driving because you need laws without
[24:43]driving laws it will be unsafe to drive on the streets you'll
[24:48]have problems a person would want to drive at 100 mile an
[24:51]hour another person will drive at 150 miles an freedom stop sign
[24:56]why do you want to limit my freedom at stop signs red
[24:58]light what do you mean red light I want to drive the
[25:03]way I want it's freedom of expression say by all means we
[25:06]do have freedom of expression my friend but not when it comes
[25:11]to endangering your safety and the safety of others that's why we
[25:15]need laws not only that we need also law enforcement to enforce
[25:19]these laws otherwise just laws by themselves are not even good enough
[25:23]and we saw a few examples in the recent history when the
[25:29]law enforcement in this country is absent what happens chaos in some
[25:36]cases so that theory while it may sound good in itself doesn't
[25:44]work out and that's why every country in the world has laws
[25:48]and not only do they have laws but they enforce these laws
[25:53]so this discussion between myself and the professor professor came and reduced
[26:01]his concept of humanism and then he had a seat I came
[26:04]up and I said to the professor I'm gonna speak to you
[26:10]as a scientist not as a man of a religion I did
[26:14]research for time for a few years on diabetes and heart failure
[26:19]it was a very sad statistic the statistic suggests that 80% of
[26:25]diabetic patients may die from heart failure that's unfortunately a fact that's
[26:31]why there is consistent monitoring of diabetes the blood sugar and so
[26:36]on so forth billions of dollars are invested just to monitor and
[26:40]make sure that the blood sugar is kept in maintained and so
[26:44]on try to minimize this statistic billions of dollars are spent worldwide
[26:50]and research trying to figure out why while we observe 80% of
[26:57]diabetic patients die from heart failure the question is why how come
[27:04]what happens why does the heart muscle quit so for decades scientists
[27:10]doctors researchers have been investigating researching trying to figure out why every
[27:21]year there are conferences where those scientists and researchers meet and try
[27:24]to present their research trying to figure out what they found trying
[27:29]to hopefully bridge this gap to hopefully one day find either a
[27:34]cure or stop it altogether I said to the professor imagine if
[27:38]one day in one of these conferences where you have thousands of
[27:42]scientists researchers scholars sitting down there discussing their research a man gets
[27:49]up and says guys I have finally figured it out I now
[27:55]understand why do 80% of diabetic patients die from heart failure the
[28:01]reason is a random process of evolution that's why it's just a
[28:09]random process so you guys have been wasting your time money energy
[28:15]billions of dollars just gone to waste because it's just a matter
[28:18]of a random process of evolution that's it I said to him
[28:24]honestly professor what do you think the people's reaction will be to
[28:29]this so what will they say back to you've got like thousands
[28:33]of scholars scientists researchers professors what will their reaction be to this
[28:40]man if they want to be kind they will say this is
[28:47]nonsense you know that's being kind he will be dismissed the response
[28:50]will be what do you mean 80% of diabetic patients are dying
[28:57]from heart failure and you're telling us is just a random process
[29:02]of evolution that does not make any sense in fact as a
[29:05]side note every University in the world today that does research and
[29:13]I discussed once to some of my colleagues I said do you
[29:15]know why they call it research because when you start your masters
[29:20]you do a search and the search always fails so you have
[29:22]to go back and research and you keep on researching and researching
[29:26]and finally after five six years of your PhD you finally publish
[29:31]to three hundred papers and that's your whole PhD thesis your life
[29:34]or seven years or six years they've just been compiled into three
[29:37]four hundred pages which basically discuss your misery your pain and some
[29:43]of the success stories you might have had along the way you
[29:47]know that's basically why the PhD thesis is about but nonetheless of
[29:51]course this is really you know it has some other useful stuff
[29:54]as well you know I had to write one of those things
[29:58]before so uh every research which is done in the university is
[30:06]based on the foundation that there is a reason for some things
[30:08]to happen scientists are trying to discover the reasons why do earthquakes
[30:12]happen so I just want to discover it so that hopefully they
[30:16]can avoid it or minimize the damage when it happens etc why
[30:19]or how do bees make honey scientists would like to know that
[30:23]maybe they can you know increase the production of honey for financial
[30:27]reasons that's another thing why does illness happen why do L neces
[30:31]happen well maybe we can stop them from happening cure them and
[30:36]prolong the life of humanity have a better life quality of life
[30:40]so there are reasons that's why there is research happening at all
[30:45]universities in the world they're trying to find out reasons why why
[30:51]so going back to the point I told this professor I said
[30:53]professor now remember he was a professor of philosophy so he totally
[30:56]understands logic that's one thing I knew he does so I said
[31:04]to him doctor if scientists cannot accept that a heart can fail
[31:09]from a random process of evolution do you want me as a
[31:12]scientist to accept then that this whole universe with the billions of
[31:20]reactions that occur that occur in it on a daily basis came
[31:25]into existence through a random process you know his response he says
[31:34]well maybe we do not understand the source again I repeat that
[31:43]maybe we do not understand the source that was his reply my
[31:49]response was we're not discussing about understanding the source our discussion is
[32:00]about the existence of a source and you have just confessed that
[32:05]there has to be a source now you may want to call
[32:11]him a source you want to call him a designer you call
[32:13]him whatever you want to call him I'm gonna call him God
[32:18]or Allah there has to be a creator there has to be
[32:23]a maker there has to be a designer there has to be
[32:26]a source you see simple logical argument deductive reasoning and a man
[32:36]who understands deductive reasoning could not deny it simple argument this is
[32:44]something important Allah subhana wa ta'ala created this whole universe based on
[32:49]laws and Allah created these laws scientists are trying to discover these
[32:55]laws trying to find out these laws and they're trying to find
[33:01]out ways to sometimes manipulate these laws for various reasons which means
[33:10]that law less nests could not have produced these laws you have
[33:16]had to have a designer and maker someone was perfect to create
[33:23]all this has to be a creator there has to be a
[33:28]god and that's something I would like to add my brothers and
[33:32]sisters about the religion of Islam the religion of Islam we have
[33:36]what we call a solid deen the roots of the religion that's
[33:40]our ID as muslims if they ask you as a Muslim what's
[33:45]like what do you believe in what makes you a Muslim there
[33:47]are three main things that makes us Muslims three main things and
[33:54]the school of elevate two more things are added but but they
[33:57]stem from these three things the first thing is the belief in
[34:02]God monotheism we're a monotheistic religion as a Muslim I believe in
[34:07]God one God he's the creator of this heaven and earth and
[34:10]everything that exists within them this God has no partners no associates
[34:14]no children this God is all-knowing all capable and he created this
[34:22]whole universe okay that's one this God it's also very just and
[34:29]that's what justice divine justice stems from tawheed from monotheism divine justice
[34:34]he gave us free will and therefore on the day of judgment
[34:43]he will judge us if you choose to follow then you'll be
[34:46]rewarded if you choose not to follow his laws there will be
[34:50]consequences and that will happen on the day of judgment and on
[34:57]this earth so that's divine justice what else do you believe in
[35:02]well I believe in all prophets I believe in prophets God sent
[35:08]us prophets he wanted us to worship Him well how do we
[35:10]worship Him he sent us prophets to teach us to educate us
[35:15]starting with prophet Adam peace be upon him and concluding with the
[35:18]last messenger our prophet muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa alayhi wa sallam all
[35:27]these prophets were sent to guide us to teach us okay well
[35:33]after the last prophet does that stop we say no there is
[35:38]divine succession to prophethood and that's in the Med hub of Ahlul
[35:41]Bayt what we call Imam the Imams there are Imams starting with
[35:46]Imam Ali alehissalaam tomorrow whom we will discuss and talk about his
[35:51]martyrdom peace be upon him because it coincides with his martyrdom and
[35:55]the last one is our Imam and modeun mantova a gelada for
[35:58]adoption the 12 Imams so that's what we call divine succession and
[36:04]that's what the school of Ahlul Bayt the Imam E is believed
[36:06]in okay well what else do you believe in we say the
[36:11]third thing and most important is I am king of judgment the
[36:14]day of judgment that one day we will all be resurrected and
[36:19]we'll be held accountable for our deeds justice will be served so
[36:25]they believe in one of years in they believe in God's divine
[36:28]justice they believe in the prophets that believe in the Imams which
[36:31]is in the school of animal bait and they believe in the
[36:35]day of resurrection all Muslims except monotheism except prophethood and except their
[36:40]Day of Resurrection and the school of Ahlul Bayt we have two
[36:44]more components added which is divine justice and a Maya what's important
[36:49]my dear brothers and sisters something which is unique to Islam is
[36:52]that all these five things can be proven to a logic reason
[36:55]and rationale just like I did it earlier with this professor I
[36:59]did not need a single verse from the Quran to convince him
[37:02]that there is a God nor did I need to quote the
[37:06]hadith from the Prophet peace be upon him and his family or
[37:10]one of them are so mean the Imams we just use rational
[37:14]reasoning deductive reasoning we proved it that's important because it's one of
[37:19]the fund as the fundamental believe the foundation our religion some other
[37:25]religions for example struggle with that I'll give you an example few
[37:31]years ago a professor of Catholicism requested to bring some of his
[37:39]students who are studying Catholicism graduate students to come to the mosque
[37:46]and to have me give them a lecture he says we're doing
[37:52]a lecture about Islam and it'll be nice for them to learn
[37:55]about Islam from an imam as opposed to me teaching them about
[38:01]Islam and also it's nice to give them the experience of a
[38:03]mosque so I said by all means you're more than welcome to
[38:08]come so he came and ever he had about maybe seven or
[38:10]eight graduate students along with him and I was talking about you
[38:13]know the fundamentals of Islam one of the things I mentioned was
[38:18]exactly what I just told you guys that you know and in
[38:21]Islam and thank you so much in Islam we have the five
[38:26]fundamental beliefs in the school of Ahlul Bayt alehissalaam is shia muslims
[38:30]and all these five can be proven through logic reason and rationale
[38:35]the professors response who himself as a father of course he's a
[38:40]Catholic father and he's a professor it has PhD as well his
[38:46]response was well it's the same thing in Catholicism you know our
[38:50]fundamental beliefs can also be proven through logic reason rationale my response
[38:55]was father for my own sake of knowledge you know I want
[39:02]to learn but to the best of my understanding the concept of
[39:07]Trinity the Father Son and the Holy Spirit that concept that all
[39:12]three are one and the one are three that is not a
[39:18]logical based concept that's a faith-based concept is that true he paused
[39:25]for a couple seconds and he said yes you're right I said
[39:28]thank you and then I moved on and I told him I
[39:34]told him before that though I told him father correct me if
[39:37]I'm wrong but the belief in Trinity is like the root of
[39:44]the religion in Catholicism it's like something fundamental to Catholicism he says
[39:50]guess that's right so that's when I went ahead and said well
[39:52]to the best of my knowledge and correct me if I'm wrong
[39:54]but it's a faith-based concept it's not a logical based concept it
[40:01]was like yes so when you have a fundamental concept in the
[40:05]faith in the religion which is not logical but it is faith
[40:11]based that can create problems sometimes to some people who start reflecting
[40:16]I have personally come across three or four people myself who've converted
[40:24]from Catholicism to Shia Islam and among the reasons is this issue
[40:28]how could one be three and three be one it's not a
[40:32]logical based concept so when they learn about Islam especially the Islam
[40:40]of Ahlul Bayt alehissalaam that God is one he cannot be divided
[40:45]into parts that makes perfect sense he does not have any children
[40:49]let me lead Wellum you let why Lamia Kola who who for
[40:56]one had he did not have children nor was he had himself
[41:00]he was not begotten or did he beget and there is nothing
[41:04]like him so this is something important in the religion of Islam
[41:14]it's a fundamentally logical religion once the logic makes sense then yes
[41:20]you believe in it if you accept the logic you believe in
[41:23]it then you believe in the holy quran okay once you believe
[41:28]i mean you accept the logic okay I presented you with the
[41:31]logic is there a god yes there is for whatever reasons you
[41:34]know I gave that description said okay fine I accept you accept
[41:37]all the prophets yes okay I finally I take that day of
[41:39]judgment and so on so forth Imams divine justice all right I
[41:44]accept it all well you believe in it yes I do that's
[41:49]your choice you want to believe it or not but once you
[41:50]believe in it you say you know what it makes sense and
[41:53]I believe in it I accept it we say okay now you've
[41:54]become a Muslim you've become a Muslim okay what do I do
[42:00]now say well now we have branches of the religion the branches
[42:03]you have to pray five times a day fast the holy month
[42:08]of Ramadan perform your pilgrimage pay your humps pay your zakat etc
[42:11]etc these are the branches of the religion this is not the
[42:19]core of the fundamentals it's the branches when it comes to the
[42:23]branches of the religion and that's what I would like you to
[42:24]attention when it comes with our branches of the religion yes sometimes
[42:29]it is faith-based sometimes we don't have all the answers for example
[42:36]men in Islam are not allowed to our gold they cannot wear
[42:39]gold say why not say well do you accept the whole on
[42:44]you accept the words of Allah do you accept the words of
[42:45]the prophets and so on and so forth you accept everything okay
[42:48]we have a hadith you know it's a tradition that men are
[42:51]allowed to wear gold you have the entire periodic table for God's
[42:55]sake you can wear all these metals on the periodic table there's
[42:58]just this one metal on the periodic table what you need to
[43:02]avoid if you're a man wearing it that is that's the gold
[43:05]if you really want to look fancy and sharp well there's something
[43:08]even more expensive than gold platinum go buy platinum that's permissible it's
[43:13]even more expensive than gold you know so that's permissible but Gold
[43:18]is not allowed now some people say well you know what maybe
[43:21]it interacts with their red blood cells it can create we say
[43:28]maybe maybe but that is not the reason why it's Haram because
[43:30]the [ __ ] I says suppose you have a gold ring
[43:34]for example gold ring they say it's by the appearance so chemically
[43:37]speaking if I take a gold ring and I do some chemical
[43:43]reaction to it electroplating it with a very very thin layer of
[43:46]silver very very thin like five nanometers you can't even see it
[43:50]when you look at the ring you say this is a gold
[43:53]ring then can I wear it now say no you still cannot
[43:56]wear it because it looks like a gold ring and therefore you
[43:59]cannot wear it but you say well it's not gold really because
[44:03]I thought with this really thin layer of silver that's protecting it
[44:06]therefore it's not going to touch my skin you know the gold
[44:08]I say that's fine but that's not the reason you're not allowed
[44:13]to wear it because it looks gold and if it is gold
[44:15]and it looks gold then you're not allowed to wear it well
[44:21]why this is a faith-based concept a little bait the Quran sometimes
[44:26]gave us some of the reasons but not everything our job is
[44:33]to accept that's why what is the name of our religion Islam
[44:38]what does Islam me submit you have to submit now when it
[44:44]comes to oh solid Deen you can ask all questions that you
[44:48]want prove to me there is a God prove to me this
[44:52]God has no point we can add we can have all these
[44:55]kind of discussions by all means when it comes to a suit
[44:58]the roots these five things I told you about once we discuss
[45:03]those we come to the branches the branches then some of them
[45:06]we understand why alcohol why can't we drink alcohol as Muslims well
[45:10]there are many reasons the Quran says it will create problems for
[45:16]you it will be harmful to you and this harm is multitude
[45:18]multifaceted a harm for example in Canada I don't know about us
[45:21]statistics was in Canada for example four people die every single day
[45:26]in Canada from drinking and driving accidents every day for people god
[45:30]forbid imagine look around you here every day we lose four people
[45:37]god forbid within a few days there'll be no one left here
[45:39]anymore so you can imagine the magnitude of the seriousness of this
[45:45]and this is despite all this kind of advertisement stop drinking don't
[45:49]drink and drive don't drink and drive still you have four people
[45:52]dying every single day and that's not to talk about domestic violence
[45:54]problems not to talk about you know addiction problem is not to
[45:57]talk about etc etc etc etc all these other problems but also
[46:01]so that one we understand we have been given reasons but some
[46:04]aspects we don't have reasons but that does not mean we reject
[46:09]them we accept them so allah subhana wa ta'ala my dear brothers
[46:13]and my dear stirrers created a system and this system points us
[46:18]to him to his existence that he exists because here has to
[46:23]be a designer as that professor called it a source so there
[46:27]has to be a maker and despite what you read from some
[46:32]prominent scientists today that there is no God you know science has
[46:39]just proved to us that God is not necessary bla bla bla
[46:41]with all due respect all those scientists who actually write about this
[46:45]some of them are prominent physicists other writers these guys while I
[46:54]truly respect their fields of expertise physics you know whatever field they
[46:58]they come from but when it comes to theology is just a
[47:04]theory because this is not their field they're not theologians so they're
[47:10]writing they're stepping outside their boundaries of expertise which then wholesome no
[47:15]responsible and we can critique them that's what they believe that's what
[47:20]they state but it does not necessarily be true in fact I
[47:25]remember there was a mathematician a very prominent mathematician who was arguing
[47:30]against some of those scientists that there is a God you know
[47:33]interestingly this mathematician when he starts his speech his discussion he says
[47:37]I just want to let everyone know that I am a mathematician
[47:40]I'm not a theologian but I feel it is necessary for me
[47:46]to speak because many people are reading these books and they're being
[47:50]influenced by them so I find it it's you know obligatory upon
[47:52]me to give also my view as a mathematician so it's quite
[47:55]interesting the guy he said himself says that I'm not a theologian
[48:00]this is not really my cup of tea but I have to
[48:03]speak about it so that's why my brothers and sisters when you
[48:05]start reading about all this don't be just you know taking it
[48:08]for granted that it has to be authentic it has to be
[48:12]true because comes from someone so person or that person who writes
[48:14]really well they may they may be very good writers but does
[48:18]not mean that their arguments are quite valid in fact one of
[48:22]the major people who writes about the idea that there is no
[48:30]God few years ago interestingly he was interviewed and he was asked
[48:34]on a scale from 1 to 7 where 7 you are absolutely
[48:44]convinced that there is no God what would you rank yourself as
[48:48]he says 6.9 she was asked well why not 7 is like
[48:57]well you know what to be honest with you I cannot listen
[49:01]to this I cannot conclusively state that there is no God he's
[49:09]basing his own argument on an assumption I cannot conclusively state that
[49:18]there is no God but I live with the assumption there is
[49:20]no God can you imagine that quite an interesting thing when I
[49:25]read this is upon Allah this guy is written books about the
[49:28]non-existence of God thousands if not millions of people have read his
[49:32]books and they're now influenced by his talk because he's a good
[49:36]writer and he is just writing on the basis of an assumption
[49:39]a man came to Imam Assad that was what this remind me
[49:44]of and I conclude with this inshallah a man came to Imam
[49:46]Sadiq alehissalaam and after a discussion about you know it was an
[49:50]atheist man and he told the Imam you know I still don't
[49:54]believe the Eman that it applied to him he said listen if
[49:58]if hypothetically speaking if what you're saying is right if there is
[50:03]no God and we believe in a God and we pray and
[50:07]fast and do all these things then at the end we haven't
[50:09]lost anything we haven't lost anything when we die we didn't lose
[50:15]much rather I lived a good life I was a good person
[50:17]being a good person I earned the love of people the respect
[50:22]of people so I did not lose anything and if what you're
[50:25]saying is not true and what you're saying is not true that
[50:31]there is no God and all that that's not true however if
[50:33]there is a God then we have won and you have lost
[50:39]so if there is no God and that is not the case
[50:41]there is a God but hypothetically speaking for the sake of argument
[50:44]if there is no God we haven't lost anything but if there
[50:48]is a God then we've won and you have lost you know
[50:50]that's quite interesting so don't just based your whole argument on an
[50:55]assumption misguiding millions of people or thousands of people and Allah says
[51:02]in the Quran it's all based on one assumption or in a
[51:06]bundle irony and hot the Shia that assumption does not substitute the
[51:13]truth it's a fact so this is something we learn from the
[51:16]story of the logname that allah subhanaw taala created a system the
[51:20]elaine was taught the laws of the system and the canaan use
[51:27]that system to spread justice on earth as we will learn in
[51:30]sha allah over the next few nights now for the next three
[51:34]nights of allah gives our stuff we're going to take a break
[51:36]from the story of the whole nine because we have tomorrow the
[51:41]night of padam that right yes and the eve of the basically
[51:43]the strike of imam ali salam ala ali then so we'll dedicate
[51:49]the next three nights for him an ally salam ala hele and
[51:50]then we'll come back for one night to discuss about dhul-qarnayn then
[51:53]again take a break for the night of padam the third night
[51:58]of Qatar inshallah we will talk about the holiness of the night
[52:00]of Qatar and then we can continue with the remaining nights of
[52:05]the holy month of Ramadan about the story of the Kinane so
[52:07]hopefully that will give us enough time to discuss the story and
[52:09]complete it in sha allah at this point if i may request
[52:14]you all to please raise your hands for da we are holy
[52:18]nights of this holy month and inshallah your requests and you need
