[4:54]on Long Island living soul of Muhammad Ali Mohammed Mohammed so my
[5:03]dear brothers are my dear sisters last night we began our discussion
[5:11]about this personality that appears in the Quran only in this particular
[5:16]service servitude calf and nowhere else as he mentioned in the Quran
[5:23]and this personality was who look I'm a very good at hundred
[5:27]adorable odd I mean I understand after a far it's almost midnight
[5:32]people are still in Arma I'm actually quite grateful to you guys
[5:38]for even being here I don't know how many cups of coffee
[5:40]you know have you had had had to have by myself would
[5:45]have probably needed some more but we're talking about denying this personality
[5:51]who's mentioned in the Quran only in this surah surah calf nowhere
[5:56]else as he mentioned yet Allah subhana WA Ta'ala sometimes even in
[6:01]one verse a personality that may be mentioned in one verse or
[6:04]a couple of verses but due to the eloquence of the Holy
[6:09]Quran the beautiful way allah subhanaw taala describes that one personality even
[6:13]in a verse or two verses it describes to us it gives
[6:17]us a lot of information about what kind of character with that
[6:21]personality have here we have about for example a page of discussion
[6:26]maybe a bit more of this personality don't party 9:00 last night
[6:32]we mentioned we started our discussion by first of all saying that
[6:35]when we take a look at historical anecdotes we need to take
[6:40]a look at them from an analytical approach as opposed to just
[6:45]stating the events without analyzing them we have to understand who was
[6:51]good who was bad what did the good do why did the
[6:54]bad do bad things why were they done and how can we
[6:59]avoid them or how can we mimic those with a great job
[7:00]so this is among the things we need to do when we
[7:06]study toric effects in addition we said that in Islam at hamdulillahi
[7:09]rabbil aalameen out of the grace of allah subhana wa ta'ala we
[7:12]are blessed with so many stories in the quran as well as
[7:17]the characters of Ahlul Bayt salawatullahi wa salaam ha image mind the
[7:23]history of Ahlul Bayt alaikum salam' that allah blessed us with all
[7:27]those stories all these characters who were real characters from whom we
[7:32]can derive real lessons people who dealt with real people and how
[7:37]they interacted with them as opposed to those who don't have such
[7:40]great personalities they create fictional characters from whom then they try to
[7:47]derive lessons that they implicate or they learn from under real life
[7:52]then we started our discussion about dog 9 we mentioned that it
[7:59]is said he is called pollenating this is his title this was
[8:03]not his real name why was he given this title there are
[8:07]many reasons we mentioned the three reasons do you guys remember what
[8:12]what were they what was the first reason it was wearing a
[8:15]helmet with two horns which is the easiest one that's the obvious
[8:20]one kind of thing that comes to people's mind what else he
[8:23]ruled the east and the west the horn of the east the
[8:29]horn of the west so he kind of grabbed the horns of
[8:30]the world and therefore he is called cognate the man of the
[8:34]two horns and the third reason we mentioned which was stated by
[8:38]Imam Ali Solomon la la in a hadith What did he say
[8:43]people beat him on his head once and they beat him twice
[8:45]and kind of created a couple of bumps on his head and
[8:50]that's what he was doing inviting people to the path of allah
[8:53]subhanahu wata'ala an imam and he said amongst you is one who's
[8:58]just like him referring to himself after he was beaten twice Allah
[9:04]kind of gave him a blessing a reward and a job and
[9:06]his edger was he allowed him and enabled him to rule on
[9:12]the earth because the man was dedicated genuinely for serving the cause
[9:16]of allah subhanahu wata'ala so allah reward all right so in the
[9:21]ayat and so I tell KF which comments from verse number 83
[9:25]why as a Luna can handle Canaan they ask you about dhul-qarnayn
[9:30]we mentioned that a group of Polish then unbelievers they went as
[9:33]the people of the holy book the scriptures about personalities that they
[9:37]can quiz the Prophet our prophet on so they told them go
[9:43]ask him about the people of the cave go ask him about
[9:47]the man who learned who Musa followed to learn from him and
[9:49]go ask him about the king who ruled the east or the
[9:52]west or the third question may have been go ask him about
[9:54]the soul so either way okay so they ask you about dhul-qarnayn
[10:01]say in respond all set Lu aleikum Minho vikre I will mention
[10:05]to you some verses of the Quran sebuah and we mentioned that
[10:11]this is also a lesson for us when you're asked a question
[10:14]to reflect before you jump to the answer so the next question
[10:19]that we kind of left you with last night you remember what
[10:22]was the question what was the question that I left you with
[10:30]who was the pugna who was the karne here there are four
[10:35]answers that we may provide one according to one of the big
[10:40]Sun Nima festive in interpreters of the quran commentators of the quran
[10:46]by the name of Allah Aziz Allah Raji suggests that such a
[10:48]king who rules the East and the West must have been someone
[10:52]who is well documented in history and there is no one according
[10:56]to him better documented in history that Alexander the Great and therefore
[11:03]he says the logname must have been Alexander the Great why because
[11:07]again he was a king - he ruled quite a vast majority
[11:13]of land three is very well documented in history about a king
[11:16]who really ruled a lot of vast spaces and therefore in his
[11:21]opinion Alexander the Great must have been denying this personality okay well
[11:26]this is one opinion however this opinion may not be quite valid
[11:29]the reason is because when you take a look at the history
[11:33]of Alexander the Great yes he was a king yes he may
[11:38]have ruled a vast majority of land however he does not seem
[11:41]to be a believer a devout worshipper of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta'ala
[11:44]to the point that Allah describes dog named later on as we
[11:50]will read in nomicon Allah who fell out of we allowed him
[11:53]we allowed on Canaan to rule on the land it was given
[12:00]that opportunity and what else were artena who we gave him min
[12:04]kulli shay'in Sababa we taught him their laws the rules of how
[12:12]to make things happen how to get work done well Alexander the
[12:15]Great a person who did not submit to allah subhanahu wata'ala the
[12:19]way allah wants to be submitted to could not have been the
[12:24]person whom allah says we gave him we allowed him of course
[12:29]he did work by the permission of allah subhana wa ta'ala so
[12:32]allah you know inevitably did allow him but not that allah communicated
[12:36]with alexander the great allah kind of revealed to Alexander the Great
[12:41]that that apparently did not happen so that's why this opinion may
[12:45]not be quite valid because Alexander the Great's personality his character does
[12:49]not fit the description mentioned in the Quran about a king who
[12:52]submitted to Allah who believed in allah subhana wa ta'ala who was
[12:58]such a devout worshipper such a great leader etc etc so that's
[13:01]the first opinion though a second opinion there was a famous historian
[13:06]by the name of eben hashem eben hashem in his history he
[13:12]says no called nain was one of the kings of yemen one
[13:15]of the kings of yemen yemen had some kings and dhul-qarnain must
[13:20]have been one of the kings in yemen and the damn that
[13:25]he built which later on we'll discuss inshaallah and the Suruga he
[13:29]built a dam one of the things he did according to the
[13:33]verses this dam that he build is the dam that was in
[13:38]yemen the dam of marib that's the dam that he built so
[13:41]that's what he suggests but again that damn of MATLAB which was
[13:48]used to block the water does not fit the description of the
[13:51]dam built here by the lug nein as we will learn later
[13:57]on inshallah and the stories as to how he built this dam
[13:59]it's made of iron the dam of MATLAB is not made of
[14:04]iron so the description does not fit either so that second opinion
[14:08]may not also be quite valid a third opinion which emerged kind
[14:13]of in the early 20th century by one of the Indian ministers
[14:21]a National Congress leader his name was Abdul Kalam Azad abul kalam
[14:28]azad did some research into this he came to the conclusion that
[14:33]don't hug nein may have been Cyrus the Great the Persian leader
[14:43]the Persian Emperor Cyrus the Great was a king who ruled a
[14:47]vast majority of the land he was a person who was kind
[14:52]he is even mentioned in the Bible as the person who assisted
[14:56]the Jews in returning back to their homeland of Jerusalem so he
[15:03]was a person that's mentioned in the Bible he fits kind some
[15:07]kind somehow the description that is mentioned in the Quran and there
[15:11]may have been a prophet who was associated with him who allows
[15:15]to reveal to him and he would tell Cyrus the Great as
[15:19]what to do and what not to do and that kind of
[15:24]fits the description so that's another opinion that's a third opinion and
[15:27]this opinion is mentioned by this scholar this Indian scholar that he
[15:32]was the Persian king Cyrus the Great Cyrus the Great however died
[15:41]in 530 BC 530 BC okay so just before Christ and that's
[15:46]what leads us to the fourth opinion the fourth opinion suggests none
[15:50]of the above it was a king who lived at the time
[15:57]of Prophet Ibrahim this is based on some tradition narrations 530 BC
[16:01]does not match the timeline of a king who lived at the
[16:06]time of prophet ibrahim alayhis salam prophet ibrahim lived way earlier than
[16:10]that it is said in some of the narrations he was a
[16:12]king who lived at the time of Prophet Ibrahim in fact it
[16:17]said it is also mentioned that the first two people on the
[16:20]face of this earth in our generation of adam alayhis-salam so the
[16:27]progeny of our Adam the first two people to ever shake hands
[16:29]we're Vulcan Ain and ibrahim khalil allah they were the first two
[16:35]men to ever shake hands they met at the holy Kaba and
[16:38]AG nine had his army with him when he saw brahim Khalil
[16:42]Allah praying there he approached him and humbly he extended his arms
[16:49]to shake that of Prophet Ibrahim so he extended his arm back
[16:54]to shake his hand so they both shook each other's hands so
[16:58]there are these traditions now these are the four opinions the Quran
[17:03]itself did not tell us what was the name of this man
[17:09]which means it's not so important what's important is his actions what's
[17:12]important is his character that's what we need to concentrate on so
[17:19]while it's good to have these opinions but what's really matters is
[17:23]not what was his name but look at what he did nonetheless
[17:26]there are these the fourth opinions that we have so one opinion
[17:32]is as examiner the great by al-razi but it might not be
[17:34]very valid the second opinion he may have been one of the
[17:36]kings of yemen but again that also may not really fit the
[17:40]description the third opinion could be a cyrus the great that might
[17:42]be it it could be possibly but the timeline then won't match
[17:47]of some of the hadith and the traditions and the tradition suggests
[17:50]he lived at the time of Prophet Ibrahim so it may have
[17:55]been someone else completely that again we don't know it's just the
[17:59]opinions that are out there now what happened with this great man
[18:03]or this great king says anomic n ala who fell Arif we
[18:11]enabled him McKenna we gave him the ability to go in the
[18:14]land to walk on the land and not only that what are
[18:21]Tina who min kulli shayin Sababa we taught him the laws of
[18:25]how to make things how to do things for example allah subhana
[18:33]wa ta'ala allowed dhul-qarnain to utilize ayran he knew where to dig
[18:39]look for iron not only that he knew how to make blocks
[18:41]of iron not only that he knew also how to build things
[18:46]using iron not only that he also knew how to dig copper
[18:49]and find copper not only that he knew how to mold copper
[18:56]into different shapes to all this required knowledge he knew a lot
[19:01]of things God Almighty taught him this takes us to a very
[19:05]important description what are teh Naju min kulli shay'in Sababa we gave
[19:10]him the laws but he did something very important at mahabhava he
[19:15]followed these laws and that's important God sometimes gives us gift he
[19:21]gives us gifts we need to utilize these gifts sometimes we don't
[19:29]so this suggests to us that there are laws there is a
[19:33]system that Allah subhana WA Ta'ala has made in this universe and
[19:40]things go according to this system this is an important thing that
[19:44]I would like to touch upon brothers and sisters because this can
[19:47]take us to a really interesting discussion that is happening today there
[19:51]are several scientists and writers who asked the question does this universe
[19:59]have a creator do we have a maker or did we just
[20:06]come through an accident did the human being come onto the face
[20:10]of this earth go an accident or was it a calculated and
[20:16]measured creation this is a very important at serious discussion that's been
[20:25]taking place for centuries in fact millennia and it continues till this
[20:29]day and age those of you who know how to read Arabic
[20:35]well if I may suggest to you to read a book called
[20:40]kitab l80 judge by lama paparazzi that book contains several discussions between
[20:46]an imam sadiq alehissalaam and atheists of his time and surprisingly you'll
[20:50]find a lot of these discourses were taking place back then 1200
[20:54]years ago between imam sadiq ali salam or 1300 years ago between
[20:57]the imam salam Omaha lay and atheist of his time those of
[21:01]you who may not speak Arabic very well and cannot read Arabic
[21:04]very well there is another book which is really good it was
[21:09]first written in Arabic called kitab at tawheed Bashar Assad walk you'll
[21:14]have to write the whole thing so if you look for it
[21:17]online kitab al-tawhid Bashar Assad or OSA Duke at least my Sudoku
[21:22]this book was written over a thousand years ago in Arabic however
[21:29]it's been recently translated well in English I really go translation I'm
[21:33]not sure if the whole English corpus is available online if not
[21:38]you may have to order it however that's a really good book
[21:42]to read it contains again some of the arguments and discussions taking
[21:47]place between imam sadiq ali salam and other imams among the atheists
[21:52]they're bringing up some of the arguments and it's quite interesting to
[21:56]see it's right nice and good to see how the Imam salam
[21:59]ala they responded to some of these arguments which are still being
[22:07]posed today few years ago i was invited to have a discussion
[22:13]at the University of Alberta in Canada with a professor of philosophy
[22:17]who was an atheist and the whole discussion goes around whether there
[22:27]is a God or there's no God as there a creator or
[22:30]is no no creator the professor was more inclined towards a theory
[22:36]that's called humanism humanism theory just that we be good humans and
[22:43]therefore we don't really need religious laws us being good humans generally
[22:50]speaking the theory suggests people are humans natural kind to each other
[23:01]when they see someone for example falling on the street collapsed they
[23:06]would actually call the ambulance and try to help and instead of
[23:10]picking up the phone and just filming when they see someone drowning
[23:16]they would actually try to jump and save him instead of let's
[23:24]film them so because human beings generally speaking are kind to each
[23:29]other there's this whole theory of course I'm oversimplifying the theory so
[23:33]it's a big theory it's a major theory so this is very
[23:36]very way you know oversimplification of it but that's the bottom line
[23:41]that we can humanism you know we just like human beings now
[23:46]that theory in itself is not quite valid I'll tell you why
[23:52]I won't use the United States as an example because your leadership
[23:54]is kind of mean these days things have just not I'm gonna
[24:00]use Canada as an example you know I think you guys understand
[24:05]Canadians were always open minded open-hearted you know we're kind people were
[24:10]quiet no you hardly ever hear about us in the news except
[24:13]when it's pretty good so I ask people you know generally speaking
[24:22]do you think Canadians are good people they're like yeah they're very
[24:26]nice people they're very laid-back so okay great well that's wonderful then
[24:31]how about this scenario what if the Prime Minister of Canada comes
[24:34]out and says Canadians you you know what pretend you guys are
[24:36]all Canadians because I know you would love to have that but
[24:40]it's okay Canadians you're really wonderful people you're so nice you're great
[24:47]we don't need laws in Canada anymore just be nice to each
[24:49]other that's it that's all we need because you guys are really
[24:53]good Canadians you're really good citizens so be kind be good humans
[24:56]towards each other you think will that be valid will that hold
[25:03]why why not humanism be kind be good to each other what's
[25:07]the problem with that well first of all what is the definition
[25:12]of good define good I'll give you a very simple example two
[25:17]scenarios you have a business owner and you have employees okay so
[25:24]you have the employer and the employees okay the business owner says
[25:28]I'm going to be a good citizen good all right by all
[25:30]means being good according to me since I'm the business owner I
[25:38]have let's say 100 employees being good is if I can make
[25:41]more profit and this way I can pay more taxes and this
[25:47]way the state will make a lot of more money and that's
[25:49]really being good in order for me to make more profit I'm
[25:53]going to have to cut down on the salaries of my employees
[25:55]to five dollars an hour that will be really good fantastic this
[26:01]is being good the employees will come and say wait wait wait
[26:09]that's nonsense no no being good as we want $20 an hour
[26:13]for example you know because then it will give us a stronger
[26:19]buying power you know I'll be able to afford let's say a
[26:21]bigger house a better car things to buy for my children afford
[26:27]to go on a vacation and therefore I will drive the economy
[26:29]instead of you giving it to the state and the state will
[26:32]give it back to me no no I want to get it
[26:39]directly and let me pay the taxes if necessary well here how
[26:42]do you solve that problem what's good the employer is looking at
[26:48]being good and the employee is thinking of being good that's why
[26:53]the state needs to intervene and they have minimum wages they say
[26:59]you know what we understand you're an employee a employer we understand
[27:03]you own the business by all means however you cannot just pay
[27:08]your staff whatever you want to there are some minimum standards that
[27:11]you have to adhere to so you see why do you need
[27:17]his laws you have to have the laws otherwise will be chaos
[27:23]another simple example driving why do we need driving laws we live
[27:34]in a free country isn't that what the president says it's a
[27:38]free country you can do whatever you want in this country so
[27:46]why do have laws of driving because you need laws without driving
[27:49]laws it will be unsafe to drive on the streets you'll have
[27:53]problems a person would want to drive at 100 mile an hour
[27:59]another person would drive at 150 miles and freedom stop sign why
[28:01]do you want to limit my freedom at stop signs red light
[28:05]what do you mean red light I want to drive the way
[28:07]I want it's freedom of expression say by all means we do
[28:13]have freedom of expression my friend but not when it comes to
[28:16]endangering your safety and the safety of others that's why we need
[28:21]laws not only that we need also law enforcement to enforce these
[28:26]laws otherwise just laws by themselves are not even good enough and
[28:30]we saw a few examples in the recent history when the law
[28:34]enforcement in this country is absent what happens chaos in some cases
[28:39]so that theory while it may sound good in itself doesn't work
[28:49]out and that's why every country in the world has laws and
[28:52]not only do they have laws but they enforce these laws so
[29:00]there's discussion between myself and the professor professor came and reduced his
[29:07]concept of humanism and then he had a seat I came up
[29:09]and I said to the professor I'm gonna speak to you as
[29:16]a scientist not as a man of religion I did research for
[29:20]time for a few years on diabetes and heart failure it was
[29:26]a very sad statistic the statistics suggests that 80% of diabetic patients
[29:31]may die from heart failure that's unfortunately a fact that's why there
[29:38]is consistent monitoring of diabetes the blood sugar and so on so
[29:42]forth billions of dollars are invested just to monitor and make sure
[29:44]that the blood sugar is kept it'll maintain and so on try
[29:51]to minimize this statistic billions of dollars are spent worldwide and research
[29:56]trying to figure out why well we observe 80% of diabetic patients
[30:02]die from heart failure the question is why how come what happens
[30:10]why does the heart muscle quit so for decades scientists doctors researchers
[30:17]have been investigating researching trying to figure out why every year there
[30:27]are conferences where those scientists and researchers meet and try to present
[30:29]their research trying to figure out what they found trying to hopefully
[30:35]bridge this gap to hopefully one day find either a cure or
[30:39]stop it all together I said to the professor imagine if one
[30:46]day in one of these conferences where you have thousands of scientists
[30:51]researchers scholars sitting down there discussing their research a man gets up
[30:58]and says guys I have finally figured it out I now understand
[31:00]why do 80% of diabetic patients die from heart failure the reason
[31:06]is a random process of evolution that's why it's just a random
[31:15]process so you guys have been wasting your time money energy billions
[31:20]of dollars just gone to waste because it's just a matter of
[31:23]a random process of evolution that's it I said to him honestly
[31:30]professor what do you think the people's reaction will be to this
[31:33]what will they say back to you've got like thousands of scholars
[31:41]scientists researchers professors what will their reaction be to this man if
[31:47]they want to be kind they will say this is nonsense you
[31:51]know that's being kind he will be dismissed the response will be
[31:57]what do you mean 80% of diabetic patients are dying from heart
[32:02]failure and you're telling us is just a random process of evolution
[32:09]that does not make any sense in fact as a side note
[32:12]every University in the world today that does research and I discussed
[32:18]once to some of my colleagues I said do you know why
[32:22]they call it research because when you start your masters you do
[32:25]a search and the search always fails so you have to go
[32:29]back and research and you keep on researching and researching and finally
[32:32]after five six years of your PhD you finally publish to three
[32:38]hundred papers and that's your whole PhD thesis your life or seven
[32:40]years or six years they've just been compiled into three four hundred
[32:45]pages which basically discuss your misery your pain and some of the
[32:49]success stories you might have had along the way you know that's
[32:51]basically why the PhD thesis is about but nonetheless of course this
[32:58]is really you know it has some other useful stuff as well
[33:01]you know I had to write one of those things before so
[33:06]uh every research which is done in the university is based on
[33:10]the foundation that there is a reason for some things to happen
[33:15]scientists are trying to discover the reasons why do earthquakes happen so
[33:18]I just want to discover it so that hopefully they can avoid
[33:21]it or minimize the damage when it happens etc why or how
[33:26]do bees make honey scientists would like to know that maybe they
[33:29]can you know increase the production of honey for financial reasons that's
[33:33]another thing why does illness happen why do L neces happen well
[33:37]maybe we can stop them from happening cure them and prolong the
[33:43]life of humanity have a better life quality of life so there
[33:47]are reasons that's why there is research happening at all universities in
[33:53]the world they're trying to find out reasons why why so going
[33:56]back to the point I told this professor I said professor now
[33:59]remember he was a professor of philosophy so he totally understands logic
[34:03]that's one thing I knew he does so I said to him
[34:05]doctor if scientists cannot accept that a heart can fail from a
[34:16]random process of evolution do you want me as a scientist to
[34:19]accept then that this whole universe with the billions of reactions that
[34:24]occur that occur in it on a daily basis came into existence
[34:34]through a random process you know his response he says well maybe
[34:42]we do not understand the source again I repeat that maybe we
[34:50]do not understand the source that was his reply my response was
[34:57]we're not discussing about understanding the source our discussion is about the
[35:03]existence of a source and you have just confessed that there has
[35:12]to be a source now you may want to call him a
[35:18]source you want to call him a designer you call him whatever
[35:20]you want to call him I'm going to call him God or
[35:25]Allah there has to be a creator there has to be a
[35:26]maker there has to be a designer there has to be a
[35:35]source you see simple logical argument deductive reasoning and a man who
[35:44]understands deductive reasoning could not deny it simple argument this is something
[35:50]important Allah subhana WA Ta'ala created this whole universe based on laws
[35:56]and Allah created these laws scientists are trying to discover these laws
[36:01]trying to find out these laws and they're trying to find out
[36:07]ways to sometimes manipulate these laws for various reasons which means that
[36:17]law less Ness could not have produced these laws you have had
[36:23]to have a designer and maker someone was perfect to create all
[36:28]this has to be a creator there has to be a God
[36:32]and that's something I would like to add my brothers and sisters
[36:39]about the religion of Islam the religion of Islam we have what
[36:41]we call a solid deen the roots of the religion that's our
[36:46]ID as muslims if they ask you as a muslim what's like
[36:51]what do you believe in what makes you a muslim there are
[36:53]three main things that makes us muslims three main things and the
[36:59]school of a elevate two more things are added but but they
[37:02]stem from these three things the first thing is they believe in
[37:06]God monotheism we're a monotheistic religion as a Muslim I believe in
[37:13]God one God he's the creator of this heaven and earth and
[37:16]everything that exists within them this God has no partners no associates
[37:19]no children this God is all-knowing all capable and he created this
[37:26]whole universe okay that's one this God it's also very just and
[37:34]that's what justice divine justice stems from tawheed from monotheism divine justice
[37:39]he gave us free will and therefore on the day of judgment
[37:47]he will judge us if you choose to follow then you'll be
[37:52]rewarded if you choose not to follow his laws there will be
[37:57]consequences and that will happen on the day of judgment and on
[38:00]this earth so that's divine justice what else do you believe in
[38:08]well I believe in all prophets I believe in prophets God sent
[38:13]us prophets he wanted us to worship Him well how do we
[38:15]worship Him he sent us prophets to teach us to educate us
[38:20]starting with prophet Adam peace be upon him and concluding with the
[38:23]last messenger our prophet muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa aalihi wa sallam all
[38:33]these prophets were sent to guide us to teach us okay well
[38:39]after the last prophet does that stop we say no there is
[38:43]divine succession to prophethood and that's in the Med hub of Ahlul
[38:46]Bayt what we call Imam the Imams there are Imams starting with
[38:52]Imam Ali alehissalaam tomorrow whom we will discuss and talk about his
[38:56]martyrdom peace be upon him because coincides with his martyrdom and the
[39:00]last one is our Imam and Meridian mantova a gelada for adoption
[39:04]the 12 Imams so that's what we call divine succession and that's
[39:10]what the school of Ahlul Bayt the Imani is believing okay well
[39:13]what else do you believe in we say the third thing and
[39:15]most important is I am king of judgment the day of judgment
[39:21]that one day we will all be resurrected and we'll be held
[39:24]accountable for our deeds justice will be served so they believed in
[39:30]one of the ISM they believe in God's divine justice they believe
[39:34]in the prophets they believe in the Imams which is in the
[39:37]school of animal bait and they believe in the day of resurrection
[39:40]all Muslims except monotheism except prophethood and accept their day of resurrection
[39:46]and the school of a halal bait we have two more components
[39:53]added which is divine justice and a man what's important my dear
[39:55]brothers and sisters something which is unique to Islam is that all
[39:58]these five things can be proven to a logic reason and rationale
[40:03]just like I did earlier with this professor I did not need
[40:06]a single verse from the Quran to convince him that there is
[40:10]a God nor did I need to quote the hadith from the
[40:11]Prophet peace be upon him and his family or one of them
[40:15]are so mean the Imams we just use rational reasoning deductive reasoning
[40:19]we proved it that's important because it's one of the fund as
[40:26]the fundamental believe the foundation our religion some other religions for example
[40:32]struggle with that I'll give you an example few years ago a
[40:40]professor of Catholicism requested to bring some of his students who are
[40:48]studying Catholicism graduate students to come to the mosque and to have
[40:54]me give them a lecture he says we're doing a lecture about
[40:57]Islam and it'll be nice for them to learn about Islam from
[41:02]an imam as opposed to me teaching them about Islam and also
[41:06]it's nice to give them the experience of a mosque so I
[41:10]said by all means you're more than welcome to come so he
[41:13]came never he had about maybe seven or eight graduate students along
[41:16]with him and I was talking about you know the fundamentals of
[41:21]Islam one of the things I mentioned was exactly what I just
[41:24]told you guys that you know and in Islam and thank you
[41:29]so much in Islam we have the five fundamental beliefs in the
[41:33]school of Ahlul Bayt alehissalaam as shia muslims and all these five
[41:38]can be proven through logic reason and rationale the professor's response who
[41:44]himself as a father of course he's a Catholic father and he's
[41:49]a professor it has PhD as well his response was well it's
[41:52]the same thing in Catholicism you know our fundamental beliefs can also
[41:57]be proven through logic reason rationale my response was father for my
[42:03]own sake of knowledge you know I want to learn but to
[42:08]the best of my understanding the concept of Trinity the Father Son
[42:14]and the Holy Spirit that concept that all three are one and
[42:20]the one are three that is not a logical based concept that's
[42:26]a faith-based concept is that true he paused for a couple seconds
[42:31]and he said yes you're right I said thank you and then
[42:35]I moved on and I told him I told him before that
[42:40]though I told him father correct me if I'm wrong but the
[42:46]belief in Trinity is like the root of the religion in Catholicism
[42:51]it's like something fundamental to Catholicism he says guess that's right so
[42:56]that's when I went ahead and said well to the best of
[42:59]my knowledge and correct me if I'm wrong but it's a faith-based
[43:03]concept it's not a logical based concept he was like yes so
[43:07]when you have a fundamental concept in the faith in the religion
[43:12]which is not logical but it is faith based that can create
[43:16]problems sometimes to some people who start reflecting I have personally come
[43:21]across three or four people myself who've converted from Catholicism to Shia
[43:28]Islam and among the reasons is this issue how could one be
[43:37]three and three be one it's not a logical based concept so
[43:40]when they learn about Islam especially the Islam of Ahlul Bayt alehissalaam
[43:45]that God is one he cannot be divided into parts that makes
[43:50]perfect sense he does not have any children lemmya lead well emulate
[43:59]well any Accola who who for one had he did not have
[44:02]children nor was he had himself was not begotten how did he
[44:09]beget and there is nothing like him so this is something important
[44:14]in the religion of Islam it's a fundamentally logical religion once the
[44:21]logic makes sense then yes you believe in it if you accept
[44:27]the logic you believe in it then you believe in the holy
[44:30]quran okay once you believe I mean you accept the logic okay
[44:36]I presented you with the logic is there a god yes there
[44:38]is for whatever reasons you know I gave that description said okay
[44:41]fine I accept you accept all the prophets yes okay I finally
[44:44]I take that day of judgment and so on so forth Imams
[44:48]divine justice alright I accept it all well then you believe in
[44:51]it yes I do that's your choice you want to believe it
[44:55]or not but once you believe in it you say you know
[44:56]what it makes sense and I believe in it I accept it
[44:59]we say okay now you've become a Muslim you'll become a Muslim
[45:02]okay what do I do now say well now we have branches
[45:07]of the religion the branches you have to pray five times a
[45:12]day fast the holy month of Ramadan perform your pilgrimage pay your
[45:16]humps pay your zakat etc etc these are the branches of the
[45:19]religion this is not the core of the fundamentals it's the branches
[45:25]when it comes to the branches of the religion and that's what
[45:29]I would like you to attention when it comes to other branches
[45:34]of the religion yes sometimes it is faith-based sometimes we don't have
[45:39]all the answers for example men in Islam are not allowed to
[45:42]our gold they cannot wear gold say why not so well do
[45:48]you accept the Quran you accept the words of Allah you accept
[45:50]the words of the prophets and so on and so forth you
[45:53]accept everything okay we have a hadith you know it's a tradition
[45:55]that men are a lot to our gold you have the entire
[45:58]periodic table for God's sake you can wear all these metals on
[46:02]the periodic table there's just this one metal on the periodic table
[46:06]which you need to avoid if you're a man wearing it that
[46:08]is that's the gold if you really want to look fancy and
[46:13]sharp well there's something even more expensive than gold platinum go buy
[46:16]platinum that's permissible it's even more expensive than gold you know so
[46:24]that's permissible but gold is not allowed now some people say well
[46:27]you know what maybe it interacts with their red blood cells it
[46:30]can create we say maybe maybe but that is not the reason
[46:36]why it's Haram because the foot I says suppose you have a
[46:38]gold ring for example gold ring they say it's by the appearance
[46:44]so chemically speaking if I take a gold ring and I do
[46:45]some chemical reaction to it electroplating it with a very very thin
[46:50]layer of silver very very thin like five nanometers you can't even
[46:55]see it when you look at the ring you say this is
[47:00]a gold ring then can I wear it now say no you
[47:01]still cannot wear it because it looks like a gold ring and
[47:03]therefore you cannot wear it but you say well it's not gold
[47:08]really because I've got will this really thin layer of silver that's
[47:10]protecting it therefore it's not going to touch my skin you know
[47:12]the goal say that's fine but that's not the reason you're not
[47:17]allowed to wear it because it looks gold and if it is
[47:21]gold and it looks gold then you're not you know allowed to
[47:25]wear it well why this is a faith-based concept a little bait
[47:29]the Quran sometimes gave us some of the reasons but not everything
[47:35]our job is to accept that's why what is the name of
[47:42]our religion Islam what does it slam me submit you have to
[47:49]submit now when it comes to a solid Deen you can ask
[47:52]all questions that you want prove to me there is a God
[47:56]prove to me this God has no point we can and we
[47:59]can have all these kind of discussions by all means when it
[48:02]comes to assault the roots these five things I told you about
[48:07]once we discuss those we come to the branches the branches then
[48:10]some of them we understand why alcohol why can't we drink alcohol
[48:14]as Muslims well there are many reasons the Quran says it will
[48:17]create problems for you it will be harmful to you and this
[48:23]harm is multitude multifaceted a harm for example in Canada I don't
[48:27]know about us statistics was in Canada for example four people died
[48:30]every single day in Canada from drinking and driving accidents every day
[48:35]for people god forbid imagine look around you here every day we
[48:40]lose four people god forbid within a few days there will be
[48:45]no one left here anymore so you can imagine the magnitude of
[48:47]the seriousness of this and this is despite all this kind of
[48:51]advertisement stop drinking don't drink and drive don't drink and drive still
[48:55]you have four people dying every single day and that's not to
[48:59]talk about domestic violence problems not to talk about you know addiction
[49:03]problems not to talk about etc etc etc etc all these other
[49:05]problems but actually so that one we understand we have been given
[49:10]reasons but some aspects we don't have reasons but that does not
[49:12]mean we reject them we accept them so Allah subhana WA Ta'ala
[49:17]my dear brothers and my dear sisters created a system and this
[49:21]system points us to him to his existence that he exists because
[49:26]it has to be a designer as that professor called it a
[49:33]source so there has to be a maker and despite what you
[49:36]read from some prominent scientists today that there is no God you
[49:43]know science has just proved to us that God is not necessary
[49:46]bla bla bla with all due respect all those scientists who actually
[49:50]write about this some of them are prominent physicists other writers these
[49:56]guys while I truly respect their fields of expertise physics you know
[50:02]whatever field they they come from but when it comes to theology
[50:08]is just a theory because this is not their field they're not
[50:13]theologians so they're writing they're stepping outside their boundaries of expertise which
[50:22]then wholesome no responsible and we can critique them that's what they
[50:26]believe that's what they state but it does not necessarily be true
[50:29]in fact I remember there was a mathematician a very prominent mathematician
[50:34]who was arguing against some of those scientists that there is a
[50:37]God you know addressing Lee this mathematician when he starts his speech
[50:41]his discussion he says I just want to let everyone know that
[50:45]I am a mathematician I'm not the field theologian but I feel
[50:50]it is necessary for me to speak because many people are reading
[50:53]these books and they're being influenced by them so I find it
[50:57]it's you know obligatory upon me to give also my view as
[50:59]a mathematician so it's quite interesting the guy he said himself says
[51:02]that I'm not a theologian this is not really my cup of
[51:06]tea but I have to speak about it so that's why my
[51:09]brothers and sisters when you start reading about all this don't be
[51:12]just you know taking it for granted that it has to be
[51:17]authentic it has to be true because comes from someone so person
[51:19]or that person who writes really well they may they may be
[51:21]very good writers but does not mean that their arguments are quite
[51:25]valid in fact one of the major people who writes about the
[51:30]idea that there is no God few years ago interestingly he was
[51:36]interviewed and he was asked on a scale from 1 to 7
[51:44]where 7 you are absolutely convinced that there is no God what
[51:50]would you rank yourself as he says 6 point 9 she was
[51:59]asked well why not 7 is like well you know what to
[52:04]be honest with you I cannot listen to this I cannot conclusively
[52:10]state that there is no God he's basing his all argument on
[52:16]an assumption I cannot conclusively state that there is no God but
[52:24]I live with the assumption there is no God can you imagine
[52:28]that quite an interesting thing when I read this is subhanAllah this
[52:32]guy is written books about the non-existence of God thousands if not
[52:36]millions of people have read his books and they're now influenced by
[52:39]his talk because he's a good writer and he is just riding
[52:45]on the basis of an assumption a man came to Imam Assad
[52:47]that was what this remind me of and I concluded with this
[52:51]insha'Allah a man came to imam musa alayhis salaam and after a
[52:54]discussion about you know it was an atheist man and he told
[52:57]the imam you know i still don't believe the imam didn't apply
[52:59]to him he said listen if if hypothetically speaking if what you're
[53:04]saying is right if there is no that and we believe in
[53:09]a God and we pray and fast and do all these things
[53:13]then at the end we haven't lost anything we haven't lost anything
[53:16]when we died we didn't lose much rather I lived a good
[53:22]life I was a good person being a good person I earned
[53:24]the love of people the respect of people so I did not
[53:29]lose anything and if what you're saying is not true and what
[53:33]you're saying is not true that there is no God and all
[53:38]that that's not true however if there is a God we have
[53:42]one and you've lost so if there is no God and that
[53:46]is not the case there is a god but hypothetically speaking for
[53:48]the sake of argument if there is no God we haven't lost
[53:51]anything but if there is a God then we've won and you
[53:55]have lost you know that's quite interesting so don't just based your
[53:59]whole argument on an assumption misguiding millions of people or thousands of
[54:05]people and Allah says in the Quran it's all based on one
[54:08]assumption or in Avenel Ariadne on a hot day Shia that assumption
[54:17]does not substitute the truth it's a fact so this is something
[54:20]we learn from the story of the egg neighing that Allah spanner
[54:23]Allah created a system the main was taught the laws of the
[54:30]system and they're gonna use that system to spread justice on earth
[54:34]as we will learn in sha allah over the next few nights
[54:37]now for the next three nights of allah gives our stuff we're
[54:40]going to take a break from the story of the canaan because
[54:44]we have tomorrow the night of qatar that right yes and the
[54:48]eve of the basically the strike of imam ali salam ala hele
[54:52]then so we'll dedicate the next three nights for him an ally
[54:55]salam ala hele and then we'll come back for one night to
[54:58]discuss about dhul-qarnayn then again take a break for the night of
[55:01]padam the third night of Qadhafi inshallah we will talk about the
[55:04]holiness of the night of qatar and then what can continue with
[55:08]the remaining nights of the holy month of ramadan about the story
[55:11]of the canaan so hopefully that will give us enough time to
[55:13]discuss the story and complete it in sha allah at this point
[55:17]if i may request you all to please raise your hands for
[55:19]draw we are on your holy nights of this holy month and
[55:25]inshallah he requests and you need will be fulfilled audhu billahi min
