[0:11]hin sub for the purification of the souls and the enlightenment of
[1:34]the hearts and for the hastening of the reappearance of Enlighten your
[1:43]souls and the atmosphere with the recitation ofat upon muhamad respected Elders
[1:55]brothers and sisters in Islam it is a fact of life a
[2:08]universal law it affects each and every creation of God it does
[2:12]not distinguish between the old and the young between the women and
[2:19]the men between the Kings and the servants it strikes at any
[2:26]moment and at any place people run away from it people people
[2:31]are afraid of it people don't want to talk about it yet
[2:38]after it begins the real life the subject of death is a
[2:46]universal subject that affects the lives of each and every human being
[2:49]it's a subject that when we look at it on the service
[2:52]level we find that you and I are touched by it whether
[2:57]we like it or not all around us the idea of death
[3:04]emerges in different shapes or forms whether through natural disasters whether through
[3:09]people passing away in a normal fashion whether when we see the
[3:13]massacres happening around the world such as in Syria whether it's domestic
[3:19]issues like the use of guns and gun laws in this country
[3:24]you and I are aware of the subject of death and is
[3:30]presented before us in many shapes and forms sometimes we contemplate the
[3:36]idea of death when we watch movies most of us have watched
[3:40]movies like ghost or ghost town or the six sense or in
[3:45]fact there is a movie by the name of Hereafter which was
[3:49]indeed produced and edited by Clint Eastwood and others these movies in
[3:55]Hollywood reflect the idea of death likewise what do we find we
[3:59]find that people die in different shapes and forms some people die
[4:06]due to accidents others die in the most peculiar of ways in
[4:11]2012 a man by the name of Edward arold who indeed was
[4:19]from this country from the United States died why he is from
[4:23]Florida he died because of a competition that he entered which is
[4:29]named named as the competition of eating cockroaches this man died because
[4:37]he choked on a cockroach others di because of other reasons like
[4:42]a man by the name of Kurt in 1978 he is from
[4:47]America also an Austrian he died because of starvation why he was
[4:50]paranoid when his wife was taken to hospital he would not eat
[4:57]anything other than the food that his wife would cook whatever they
[5:00]present before him you would say no he was paranoid and he
[5:04]died due to starvation the subject of death therefore is of the
[5:09]utmost importance yet sometimes in the west what happens is that subjects
[5:13]like death and others that people dislike talking about they referred to
[5:17]it when it comes to jokes and what and humor they look
[5:23]at death through this particular way for instance they say that two
[5:27]people died and they made met each other other in the Hereafter
[5:31]the afterlife one person asked the other how did you die the
[5:39]response was I died because I froze to death he then asked
[5:41]the other how did you die he said I died due to
[5:46]heart attack he said how did this happen one day I came
[5:50]home and outside I heard that there is a voice of a
[5:54]man inside the house immediately I thought that my wife is what
[5:58]is with another man I went inside I searched and searched and
[6:05]I couldn't find another man then I felt so shameful that I
[6:09]accused my wife of infidelity that I had a heart attack and
[6:14]I died the first person looked at him and said if only
[6:16]you had found me in the fridge we'd both be alive today
[6:19]in other words what in other words that sometimes death is presented
[6:25]in such a manner yet when you look at the subject you'll
[6:28]find in the 21st century and especially in this day and age
[6:32]is being discussed more in the Western World you look at the
[6:36]Time magazine for instance in June this year it published an article
[6:39]what was the title of the article the new American way of
[6:44]death new American way of death you're thinking what does that mean
[6:51]do people die differently in this country the article discusses and dissects
[6:57]the use the ever increasing use of cremation when it comes to
[7:04]what dealing with the deceased and the dead bodies Cremation of course
[7:08]is what cremation is the process by which the body is placed
[7:12]in a cardboard box attack is placed on it thereafter it after
[7:21]the paperwork is uh finished it is put through a very hot
[7:25]chamber the temperature is raised to 1,800 100° F over 800° C
[7:34]and so what happened is that the body is then reduced to
[7:42]gray Ash and placed in a small box presented to towards the
[7:46]family and there is an increase in business in this country and
[7:49]in Europe whereby the type of box that the ashes are produced
[7:57]in or put in is now a growing Trend when it comes
[8:03]two variations so you have for instance box boxes that are decorated
[8:07]boxes that are made out of the objects that were the favorite
[8:10]for what for the diseased in this country in 2011 over 40%
[8:18]of those who died were cremated a staggering figure isn't it especially
[8:25]in a predominantly Christian country it is projected that by 2017 50%
[8:32]of those who die in the United States of America are subjected
[8:41]to cre pration why you ask because it costs over $22,000 to
[8:46]cremate a body whereas it costs over 7,000 to bury and people
[8:54]are looking for cheaper options to deal with those that have passed
[8:58]away hence you find that the idea of cremation is something that
[9:03]is being discussed and it is indeed related to what it is
[9:09]related to death when you come to the subject of death you
[9:12]begin to understand its importance and its relevance in the lives of
[9:17]human beings to the extent that when you talk about it with
[9:21]others they say it's a gloomy subject I don't want to talk
[9:24]about it it depresses me it makes me anxious I'm fearful what
[9:31]is the term that expresses the fear of death photophobia photophobia is
[9:36]the fear of death and in 2005 a Gallup survey questioned over
[9:42]1,000 youth between 13 to 17 in the United States about what
[9:46]they fear most number one was what terrorism it was after the
[9:58]atrocity of 9/11 number two was what spiders that the youth are
[10:06]afraid of spiders second after terrorism number three is death so the
[10:13]third most fearful thing for many youth is to think about V
[10:15]or death you and I as Believers you and I as Muslims
[10:21]need to take ourselves outside of this box outside of this phenomena
[10:26]of fearing the subject why because as Believers we need to be
[10:31]different if you and I do exactly the same thing as others
[10:37]when it comes to this subject and other areas then truly we
[10:40]do not stand out we cannot call ourselves as individuals who have
[10:46]sought to be illuminated by the teachings of the religion of Islam
[10:50]why is it therefore that people fear this subject why is it
[10:53]that they fear that it is a subject which brings them anxiety
[10:57]depression and indeed a gloomy area to look at for three reason
[11:05]understand these three therefore we can work towards eliminating its fear from
[11:10]our hearts and from our minds the first reason that people fear
[11:14]death is because of the fear of the unknown how many of
[11:19]us know what will happen what is this journey all about what
[11:23]are the processes that will occur what is it that you and
[11:28]I will be subjected to all that we know about that is
[11:30]from movies and from what others have told us in other words
[11:35]what brings apprehension to our hearts anxiety somebody came at the time
[11:42]of IM the 11th holy of and he said there is a
[11:52]man who's about to die and he's petrified he's shaking IM came
[11:57]next to him and said are you afraid pray he said I
[12:02]going to die of death of the fear of death he said
[12:07]to him why he said because I don't know what's going to
[12:09]happen to me Imam said to him can you imagine that you're
[12:16]suffering or you're in a state of Filth and un cleansiness and
[12:22]you go to a public bathroom because at that time they didn't
[12:27]have bathrooms or restrooms as you guys call them in this country
[12:32]they did not have them in their homes they had them outside
[12:35]so people would go outside Imam would say can you imagine that
[12:41]you would go to this place and you your body would be
[12:43]cleansed and purified from all the dirt this man said yes sir
[12:49]that would be amazing Imam said how would you feel he would
[12:52]be cleansed and purified feel very refreshed cleansed clean white pure Imam
[12:59]says for the believer death is exactly that so number one we
[13:06]fear death because of what because we don't know what's happening number
[13:09]two we you and I as human beings crave longivity we wish
[13:15]to remain alive as much as possible and this is something that
[13:19]the Shan knew when he spoke to Adam he came to adam.
[13:23]the prophet and he said to him do you wish to live
[13:28]forever Adam says yes he said then look at this tree eat
[13:29]from this tree and you'll live forever that as human beings we
[13:36]do not wish to depart this is applicable to all especially the
[13:39]Kings and the tyrants the dictators who have assumed wealth and are
[13:43]ruling people unjustly a man by the name of whomi who was
[13:50]the Tyrant at the time of IM he had assumed so much
[13:58]wealth he had indeed killed the Imam he was traveling with the
[14:05]Entourage and with his army and he stopped somewhere where did he
[14:10]stop he stopped at a place which was picturesque which was an
[14:14]area of amazing natural beauty he looked at this place and he
[14:20]saw the water running and he said you know what bring my
[14:22]Throne place it on a small bridge that you will build and
[14:27]I wish to enjoy this wonderful area I wish to enjoy this
[14:31]wonderful place he sat there and he paced his hands on the
[14:36]water in order to take out the fish that was indeed swimming
[14:39]under him as soon as he placed his hand on the water
[14:44]he felt a shiver he started shaking he didn't know what that
[14:47]was he called a physician The Physician came diagnosed him as what
[14:51]illness that will eventually lead to death you're going to die you're
[14:56]suffering with an illness there is no return now here there was
[15:02]a moment for mmon to reflect he stood there looked at his
[15:04]vast Army looked at the wealth that he had and realized that
[15:10]this idea of longivity cannot be established then he looked at the
[15:14]heavens and said the following oh the one whose wealth never disappears
[15:25]have mercy on the one whose wealth is about to disappear here
[15:32]I'm about to leave there is nothing that can hold me back
[15:35]that's the second reason and the third reason is what the third
[15:38]reason why you and I dislike talking about death is because we
[15:44]have not prepared for our and here I would like to tell
[15:50]you a story a beautiful story that highlights this point it is
[15:53]mentioned and this story is from one of the that it is
[15:59]mentioned that an individual was traveling where on a ship and the
[16:02]ship sunk and it was only him that remained he held on
[16:08]to a wooden plank and he was taken through the waves of
[16:11]the water to an Island an island by which he could see
[16:18]skulls and the bodies of people he recognized that it was the
[16:21]end for him at that moment after a few days he saw
[16:27]people approaching with a boat he was delighted that he will be
[16:30]saved he looked at them and says will you save me they
[16:35]said of course you are our King he said excuse me I'm
[16:39]your king they said yes come with us and we'll tell you
[16:41]they took him on the boat and they took him to a
[16:46]city as soon as he entered that City according to the imams
[16:49]he was welcomed as a king they placed him on a throne
[16:55]they gave him whatever he wanted and then they said to him
[16:59]every 3 years we choose our Kings by going to this particular
[17:06]Island and finding an individual who has been stranded and we found
[17:11]you therefore you are our King today he looked at them just
[17:14]like how you and I should do when we sign any contract
[17:18]he said to them are there any terms and conditions you know
[17:20]read the small print most of us don't read the small print
[17:25]he said to them are there any terms and conditions for this
[17:27]they said yes there is a term the term that you have
[17:31]to abide by he said what is it they said that you
[17:36]become a king for 3 years and after you finish we'll take
[17:38]you back to this island that we find you he said are
[17:43]you serious they said yes we'll take you back exactly where we
[17:46]find you he said no problem as soon as he assumed this
[17:51]particular leadership and became the king the first thing that he did
[17:54]was what what did you do he said I would like to
[17:58]go to that Island they said what he said yes I'd like
[18:00]to take with me many people and i' would like to take
[18:03]with me many equipments and a lot of wealth they said you're
[18:05]the king you can do whatever you want he went to that
[18:10]Island he started building palaces he started building Gardens he started harvesting
[18:16]farms and crops until after the 3 years when he was sitting
[18:20]in his throne in the city they came to him and said
[18:25]your majesty it's time to go to that Island your rulership has
[18:28]now ended he said bis I'm ready please take me I'm looking
[18:34]forward I said how every time we wish to take somebody they
[18:36]cry and they beg us and they say don't take me don't
[18:40]take me he said I'm Different I've prepared for it when they
[18:43]took him to that Island they were amazed he had built some
[18:50]amazing palaces he had in their people he had in their food
[18:54]and the Imam would that say that the parable of this island
[19:00]is and the city is this D that when you and I
[19:05]have not prepared for that particular Island we're petrified to go to
[19:09]it we do not wish to depart from our cities but if
[19:14]we have indeed constructed what could be done in that place Eternal
[19:18]place of aboard then we would do whatever to go to it
[19:25]and are not afraid to depart from our cities from this dun
[19:28]hence when we recognize this we recognize the importance of this subject
[19:33]and the need for it to be dissected in detail and here's
[19:40]the news that for the next five or six nights we will
[19:43]go through this subject in the utmost of detail why because some
[19:50]of you may say oh dear going through the death and afterlife
[19:55]and in such extensive detail is for what reason why are we
[20:01]doing this what is it that we will talk about we will
[20:06]talk about a number of important things first of all how do
[20:10]we prepare for it physically mentally and spiritually number two what are
[20:16]the processes that we go through physically in terms of shw in
[20:20]other words if you were in a particular country and you had
[20:24]a loved one a friend with you a non-muslim country you went
[20:28]for a holiday you went to Barbados for instance and somebody passed
[20:31]away from your family members God forbid what do you do then
[20:37]they are there on the death bet what is expected from you
[20:39]what do you do then in terms of the the burial what
[20:44]are the recommendations that you and I should be thinking about we
[20:48]need to know this beforehand so that we are prepared thirdly as
[20:53]soon as an individual dies what goes through the soul what is
[21:01]the extensive understanding of the intermediary world what happens to people what
[21:08]classifications are they through can we help them can we help ourselves
[21:12]when we are in but importantly my dear brothers and sisters please
[21:17]understand this point the objective of this examination which is going to
[21:24]be extensive and quite detailed is for two reasons number one the
[21:30]belief in death after life is a crucial one and part of
[21:33]our in other words you and I will be questioned on the
[21:38]day of judgment about this belief I can't call a molana or
[21:42]refer to a scholar or Google it when it comes to these
[21:48]things I need to know I need to have it in my
[21:53]heart it needs to be deeply rooted in my existence therefore the
[21:56]purpose of the next few nights is to increase our knowledge number
[22:00]two it's going to be a practical analysis it's going to be
[22:07]a discussion based on what would help us in this journey in
[22:10]this utmost important Journey what practical things can you and I do
[22:15]so that we are in the best shape and in the best
[22:20]possible position when we go through this process ourselves no human being
[22:26]can what can evade it question to start off this discussion is
[22:32]what is the importance of this discussion why should we talk about
[22:39]it here I will give you 10 points in case anyone is
[22:42]doubtful about its importance 10 points we will talk about why the
[22:46]subject of death and Barak and the Hereafter is of the utmost
[22:54]importance why you and I need to have a clear recognition of
[22:57]the area number one the Quran the book of guidance the book
[23:05]that directs us to where and how we should lead Our Lives
[23:08]the book that you and I need to be acquainted with the
[23:13]book that you and I need to have with us all the
[23:15]time in order for us to refer to what do I mean
[23:19]when you and I travel what do we take with us we
[23:24]take with us our luggage our baggage we pack our bags in
[23:27]accordance with of what we need imagine that you're traveling and you
[23:35]go to the airport here in Detroit or anywhere around the world
[23:39]and you check in your luggage they say to you excuse me
[23:44]what you have is too much you have excess weight you look
[23:49]at the bag and inside you have candy you have food in
[23:56]the UK we call it chocolate what do you do you say
[24:01]you know what I can take this out why I can eat
[24:04]it and once I eat it the luggage weight would be less
[24:10]true no one's going to weigh me yes my weight will increase
[24:16]but no one's going to assess how much I weigh when I
[24:18]go where when I go inside that plane but they'll assess the
[24:21]luggage right what happens is that when we transfer to the afterlife
[24:27]what can we take with us we can't take anything but what's
[24:33]inside us can come with us in other words if the Quran
[24:39]has been embedded in our flesh and in our blood then it
[24:42]will help us in the Hereafter but if I place the Quran
[24:46]and I say you know what I want 10 copies of the
[24:47]Quran placed around my grave will that come to my assistance and
[24:53]help will that come to my Aid just like that Parable in
[24:55]the journey the Quran my dear brothers and sisters discusses a number
[24:59]of important subjects let's talk statistics what is the most common subject
[25:07]discussed in the Holy Quran think about it what is the idea
[25:11]that is often referred to most in most references in the Quran
[25:19]30% of the Quran talks about this particular idea 1,920 ayat talk
[25:30]about Allah God the almighty the absolute perfect being Allah subhah wa
[25:53]ta'ala in 1,920 ayat in the Holy Quran talks about what talks
[25:58]about his Unity talks about his existence talks about the importance of
[26:03]the belief ined and monotheism that's the most commonly talked about subject
[26:09]in the Holy Quran question what is the second most common subject
[26:14]in the Holy Quran whereby you'll find what you'll find 26% of
[26:20]the ayat equating to 1,480 verses that subject is what death so
[26:35]here we have an important realization if the second most important subject
[26:40]in the Quran whereby 26% of the ayat talk about this phenomena
[26:46]shouldn't we talk about it shouldn't we discuss it a quarter of
[26:54]the Quran my dear brothers and sisters talks about death and the
[26:56]day of judgment a quarter of the Quran Quran is telling you
[26:59]and I think about it don't run away from it understand it
[27:04]it's not what you think a quarter of the Quran is asking
[27:08]us to reflect should we ignore a quarter of the Quran just
[27:14]because you know what it's too gloomy I'm too young I don't
[27:16]want to talk about death I don't want to speak about it
[27:20]I don't want to prepare for it I have my whole life
[27:24]ahead of me what do we do with this quarter of the
[27:25]Quran should we shove it should we ignore it or should we
[27:32]think about it in the best possible way Muhammad Muhammad therefore the
[27:42]realization hits us hard my dear brothers and sisters that the ayat
[27:46]of the Quran are not there coincidentally they're not there by Chance
[27:51]the fact that the allmighty subhanahu wa'ta'ala places 1,480 ayat about about
[27:59]death is sending us a strong profound message read about it understand
[28:07]it reflect and prepare this is the clear message that the Holy
[28:13]Quran is sending us that's number one number two why should we
[28:16]discuss and talk about in extensive detail the subject of death and
[28:23]the Hereafter the second is the fact that when you look at
[28:26]the early years of the life of the holy prophet when it
[28:29]comes to his prophethood and the Declaration of his message in Mecca
[28:37]the discussion surrounded what the idea of the the idea of what
[28:41]awaits human beings what awaits people of different denominations when it comes
[28:47]to the other realm the Quran says it's all about where we
[28:59]began from and to whom we shall return in a beautiful absolutely
[29:10]Sublime Hadith which you and I should memorize what does he say
[29:17]he says and what may the mercy of God be on whomsoever
[29:29]has the cognizance not just the knowledge deep reflection understanding of what
[29:37]where they came from where are they now and where they're heading
[29:40]towards in other words the prophet of Islam would begin this discussion
[29:47]with the non-believers in order to bring them to their realization that
[29:52]this world is transient this world is temporary and the is the
[29:57]Eternal place of Abode you cannot run away from it you cannot
[30:04]just simply ignore [Music] it Allah says the death that you're running
[30:19]away from indeed it will come to you you cannot indeed avoid
[30:26]it that's number two number three the Quran tells us it's very
[30:30]interesting most of us please pay attention to this point most of
[30:34]us describe our homes or where we live as where the destination
[30:40]or the countries that we reside in for instance somebody will come
[30:44]to you and say where do you live you say that my
[30:48]home is Dearborn Detroit the United States of America people come to
[30:52]others in the Middle East and they will describe their homes or
[30:55]where they come from or where they were born Allah subah wa
[31:00]tala says the message of the prophets was what the message of
[31:02]all the prophets was the following we purify these prophets so that
[31:12]they tell people where their homes are where are the homes Dar
[31:20]is their homes we are told in the Quran that our homes
[31:26]that you and I have been created for is J is Paradise
[31:29]Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is so merciful the almighty J is full
[31:36]of compassion and love you and I have been created for Paradise
[31:40]for Jenna that's our place that's our home Allah says prepare for
[31:45]that house that home that Eternal place that you will return to
[31:52]therefore you should know about it you should be able to understand
[31:56]everything that is needed to be stood about it that's number three
[32:00]number four in 30 places in the Quran this is all statistics
[32:07]that you need to know 30 places in the Quran Allah says
[32:13]what he places the belief in God and the belief in Hereafter
[32:19]right next to each other it's simultaneous which means what that most
[32:24]of the times when we speak to atheists that when we speak
[32:27]to non-believers who deny the existence of God one of the most
[32:32]effective tools and ways in which we can deliver the pristine message
[32:40]of monotheism anded is to talk about the Hereafter tell me can
[32:43]we talk about the Hereafter when our knowledge and understanding and comprehension
[32:49]of it is not up to scratch can we talk about it
[32:51]in the best possible way when our knowledge is not how it
[32:57]should be therefore the Quran places the these two together that's number
[33:00]four the other the other point number five is what the reason
[33:04]why we need to know more about the Journey of death is
[33:09]what is that the Quran tells us that before all the other
[33:12]actions that you and I do an important precursor is to believe
[33:17]in the Unseen the belief in the UN is the prerequisite it
[33:30]is the joury beginning of the journey towards what towards prayers towards
[33:37]fulfilling our tasks towards establishing what is obligatory in the eyes of
[33:45]Allah suban waala number six is a form of purification my dear
[33:48]brothers and sisters famously mentions it's sufficient for death to what to
[34:07]be the point whereby you and I are shaken to the core
[34:13]it helps us to purify ourselves the author of the famous commentary
[34:17]of the Holy Quran says there is only one business that you
[34:25]and I have in this world one thing what is that purification
[34:32]cleansing our souls reaching Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala with this this PR
[34:44]Pure Heart the idea of the remembrance and the understanding of death
[34:49]is what so that it purifies us it puts everything in perspective
[34:57]most of you have heard of what a man by the name
[34:59]of Steve Jobs haven't you if you haven't heard of him that
[35:05]you using products that were developed by him products that have changed
[35:13]the world and the way we use technology of course we are
[35:16]talking about a man who is instrumental in the development and the
[35:20]success of the company known as Apple from the iPads to the
[35:27]iPhones to the many products that you and I see around the
[35:30]world today this man was indeed an important individual but when he
[35:38]died he touched the hearts of so many and it's interesting that
[35:42]when he died people started to refer to a statement that he
[35:46]spoke about when it comes to death unfortunately sometimes people refer to
[35:52]individuals like Steve Jobs and do not refer to the M for
[35:58]inspir ation when it comes to statements regarding death yet it doesn't
[36:02]necessarily cause a problem for us to look at what he said
[36:08]when it comes to this area I'll read you to what he
[36:11]said some of the extracts to what he mentioned when it comes
[36:14]to the idea of death he said remember that I'll be dying
[36:18]soon and this realization is the most important tool to make the
[36:28]biggest choices in my life he was diagnosed with cancer he recognized
[36:31]that he will be departing from this world he said that recognition
[36:35]was of the utmost importance to make me understand what choices are
[36:40]there before me in this existence then he says no one wants
[36:48]to die true even people who want to go to heaven don't
[36:52]want to die to get there he then references and says and
[36:56]yet death is a destination we all share no one has ever
[37:05]escaped it and that's how it should be why because death is
[37:08]very likely the single best invention of Life amazing huh this man
[37:17]says death is the most important and significant invention of life it's
[37:26]a life changing agent think about it reflect it that a non-muslim
[37:31]says something like this about death because he had come to this
[37:35]realization knowing that death was around the corner when we say that
[37:43]it's remembrance and it the understanding of the processes and the journey
[37:47]of death is the utmost importance we are talking about something that
[37:51]may change the life of the human being I recall a few
[37:56]years ago here in this country a young man a 17 young
[37:59]old man came to me after a Magus and said I have
[38:04]a problem I said to him what's your problem he said that
[38:08]I go to school and at in school there's a girl that
[38:11]has a crush on me what can I do she has a
[38:16]crush on me I said okay so what's the problem he says
[38:18]every time I go to the classroom she comes and hugs me
[38:22]and when she hugs me I hug her back you know an
[38:27]eye for an eye is this Haram can I do that I
[38:32]said it's not permissible in Shar law you can't touch somebody who
[38:35]is nonaham to you he said then I have a problem I
[38:38]can't deal with it I can't say no to her there's a
[38:43]Temptation in my heart he said can you help me I said
[38:47]I'm going to give you something to do will you do it
[38:50]he said I'll try I said go to the cemetery he said
[38:52]excuse me I said tomorrow go to the local graveyard and just
[38:57]sit there and reflect if you find an empty grave just look
[39:02]at it also and that's all he said I'm not sure it
[39:03]will help I said try it he came back my dear brothers
[39:07]and sisters a few days later after the majus and said my
[39:09]dear brother if this girl was missusa I'll never hug her again
[39:15]I said why he said I looked at those Graves and I
[39:21]thought with myself how will I help myself after I depart from
[39:24]this world and when I'm questioned and subjected to accountability as to
[39:29]what I did I can't help myself therefore I should try and
[39:35]attempt to do what I can now before it's too late it's
[39:41]a source of purification number six number seven it's the best anti-depressant
[39:46]how most of us go through grief depression anxiety difficulties in life
[39:54]we are dealt with in a way that we feel what hard
[39:59]done by we go through hardship the remembrance of death puts everything
[40:05]in perspective how that we know this life is short term but
[40:11]importantly we know that the justice of Allah will be manifested when
[40:15]on the day of judgment therefore if I'm wronged in any shape
[40:21]or form I know that Allah is watching and I know that
[40:23]there is another realm that he will come to my Aid and
[40:28]the truth will will prevail therefore it's the best way to deal
[40:32]with life's calamities life's hardship and life's difficulties number eight if you
[40:39]don't think about death then the following will happen you will be
[40:43]inclined more towards what Disobedience of Allah sinning transgression the Quran says
[40:55]woe be to those who cheat others why have these people that
[41:09]deceive and cheat and conceal from others in all shapes or form
[41:12]and are dishonest do they not know that they will face Allah
[41:19]on that absolutely amazing and horrifying day the day of judgment so
[41:23]the lack of remembrance of death number eight makes us what makes
[41:27]us in in lined towards evil inclined towards SIN number nine does
[41:33]what it hardens our heart and stops us from receiving the light
[41:38]and the guidance and the mercy of God the almighty because the
[41:44]Quran speaks about hearts that are soft and hearts that are hard
[41:47]and if you look at the rat they say the lack of
[41:51]the understanding and the remembrance of death makes our hearts Hard Rock
[41:57]whereby we do not become receptive whereby we turn away from the
[42:02]message some people ask when I read the Quran I don't react
[42:05]to it when I listen to the and the I don't shed
[42:11]tears when I think about what is happening around me I am
[42:19]oblivious I don't care I am careless why is that and one
[42:22]of the reasons and these are symptoms of what of the hardening
[42:29]of the heart and the mission of the Quran and the teachings
[42:33]of Islam through the bait and the infallible book is to soften
[42:40]our hearts to make it more receptive so that we can indeed
[42:43]be inspired and motivated to move ourselves in this wonderful journey and
[42:47]the final Point as to why we need to discuss this all
[42:53]important idea is that so that we should not have hopes outside
[42:56]of our capabilities this is referred to in Islamic spirituality as when
[43:04]you and I have desires and aspirations and when we think about
[43:09]death we think you know what my life is short let's focus
[43:14]on what really matters let's focus on what really can help me
[43:18]when we ponder over this we recognize the importance of it but
[43:23]the question arises here and that is when it comes to the
[43:30]school of the specifically how and in which way did he prepare
[43:39]for death and what are the lessons that we can learn fromal
[43:45]this amazing University of values and principles this University For All Mankind
[43:51]this Universal place whereby people seek inspiration there is an important lesson
[43:56]in that University and that is how approached this subject one of
[44:04]the first things that we learn is that IM Hussein did what
[44:11]he left the will he left the will to his brother Muhammad
[44:16]which states what the will outlines the objective of his mission and
[44:22]his Revolution this is an important lesson for you and I in
[44:29]the preparation for death as we begin this examination and I require
[44:33]your patience and understanding as we go through the intricate details of
[44:37]what helps us in this process the first thing that you and
[44:41]I should do is to have our Wills ready don't tell me
[44:47]that you're young don't tell me that you're 16 17 20 21
[44:53]30 40 these are lame excuses how many of us have heard
[44:56]of instances where by by the youth Young have passed away and
[45:03]left this world without any underlying problems whether it was an accident
[45:08]or a natural death therefore it is around the corner for each
[45:11]and every one of us and the Traditions from the [Music] says
[45:22]this is the statement of the holy prophet of Islam peace and
[45:28]blessings be upon him and his holy progeny whomsoever dies and does
[45:32]not has not left the Will dies the death of the our
[45:38]say leaving a will is highly recommended but in certain instances it's
[45:43]w why is it wag if you have Salah or if you
[45:49]have and Zak or any other obligations and duties that you have
[45:52]not fulfilled or performed if you had debts if you have given
[45:57]people money and you have not return it it's incumbent for you
[46:00]to write this and to ensure that the will is ready and
[46:06]under your pillow according to what according to the Hadith It prepares
[46:10]you for the eventuality what does this will have this will would
[46:14]have a third of your wealth and whatever you have dedicated towards
[46:19]a cause dedicated to whatever you wish it could be for the
[46:26]majalis of ab abdah it could be for the or it could
[46:28]be to build an Islamic Center it could be for any charitable
[46:34]purpose or it could be for those who would inherit your wealth
[46:37]for the inheritors and the rest of your wealth is what is
[46:45]given to those who are your inheritance according to sh but also
[46:49]what you write in that will is way you wish to be
[46:53]buried it's what kind of actions you want your children your family
[46:56]to do for for you to remember you after you pass away
[47:01]to visit your grave to perform something and a good deed in
[47:04]your name my dear brothers and sisters if you have not written
[47:09]a will then make it a commitment in this month of mam
[47:12]to write one seek help ensuring that you prepare for this journey
[47:20]this absolutely factual Journey that each and every one of us will
[47:28]go through by first of all writing that will highlighted the purpose
[47:37]of his mission in this will that he left to his brother
[47:41]he said [Music] [Music] that the mission was absolutely crystal clear this
[48:03]is number one this is how would prepare us and teach us
[48:10]how to advance towards this eventuality number two what do we learn
[48:14]from the school of carala we learn from the school of carala
[48:18]that live your life just as if you are dying tomorrow just
[48:27]like how says when when he famously examines this idea he says
[48:33]live in this world just as if you are dying tomorrow our
[48:42]Scholars say when you approach Salah pray as if this is your
[48:47]final prayer none of us knows what will happen tomorrow and when
[48:53]you and I prepare ourselves by reflecting and thinking that tomorrow is
[48:59]our final day it's our final few hours in this world it
[49:05]places everything in context and makes us in the best possible position
[49:10]when we look at theab ofd Hussein indeed they were the greatest
[49:14]manifestation that when they came on the night of Ash IM Hussein
[49:20]tested them in many occasions throughout his journey from Medina to Mecca
[49:26]and from Mecca to kalala where he stopped at least in 45
[49:29]places 45 locations he stopped he would tell them what was about
[49:38]to happen yet indeed most of them passed the examination and they
[49:43]were ready for this eventuality they would embrace the death just like
[49:48]how the aah Allah indeed would do so IM Hussein would teach
[49:54]you and I also what would teach you and I that in
[49:59]this journey one of the most important things to begin with is
[50:02]what seek Toba and repentance understand the problems that you and I
[50:06]face when it comes to sinning we end with this that someone
[50:11]came to him and said I have a problem and my problem
[50:17]is that I sin too many times most of us maybe can
[50:22]relate to this I'm sitting in front of the television screen I'm
[50:26]watching a Hollywood movie something Haram comes on I can't turn away
[50:31]I look at it I have illicit relationships I gossip I back
[50:36]I listen to Haram music I associate myself with the wrong crowd
[50:41]this man would come to IM Hussein and would say to him
[50:46]this is my problem I sinning can you give me a prescription
[50:48]can you help me Imam said yes help you I and if
[50:56]you can f fulfill these five scenarios then you can sin as
[51:02]much as you wish as much as you want number one go
[51:04]to a place where Allah cannot see you and sin as much
[51:10]as you like can you do that the man says no everywhere
[51:15]Allah subhana waala is there I cannot do that Imam then looks
[51:21]at him and says what about going to a place where Allah
[51:26]is not in charge of he's not the guardian of once again
[51:33]the man says this is impossible Allah is the guardian of everything
[51:36]he looks after everything Imam says then if you cannot fulfill this
[51:41]condition go to a place or eat from that which does not
[51:47]belong to Allah it's not risk of the almighty subhanahu wa ta'ala
[51:51]the man once again says that I'm unable to do so every
[51:54]single thing is from Allah this is all his RK IM says
[51:59]then how about when the angel of death comes to you and
[52:04]takes your soul say to him my friend I'm not ready can
[52:06]you come back another time I'm not in a position for you
[52:12]to take my soul can you do that if you can do
[52:13]that then sin as much as you like the man stood he
[52:18]froze he recognized that this was impossible he was hoping for the
[52:23]fifth point he said maybe number five I can do it Imam
[52:28]says on the day of judgment when the angel of death Malik
[52:31]comes and takes you towards Janam because of your sinning tell him
[52:38]excuse me I think you've got your directions wrong take me to
[52:44]Jenna instead can you do that can you object to being taken
[52:48]to Janam the man says no I can't Imam is sending us
[52:55]a clear message and a signal on a prescription on how indeed
[52:59]we can prepare ourselves for this important journey and the school of
[53:05]carb educates Us in the subject and in the phenomena of death
[53:11]that abdin on a day like tomorrow reaches a particular land who
[53:21]is the commander of the army ofah zad had received a letter
[53:30]saying that now you have to stop Hussein wherever he is however
[53:34]stop him in a place away from water Al comes and reads
[53:41]this letter to Imam remember that had an army of a thousand
[53:44]that had come to surround IM Hussein on his journey towards kufa
[53:51]and to stop him and derail him from reaching kufa alh says
[53:54]to Imam he says that I am commanded to stop you here
[53:59]Imam says can we walk just a bit more agrees they walk
[54:05]just a bit more until hor says I cannot any longer allow
[54:08]you to continue your journey Imam stops he asks what is the
[54:15]name of this land they say to him this land is called
[54:22]na he says has it got any other name they say yes
[54:27]this is called he says is it known by another title a
[54:31]third man says this is the land of IM Hussein says oh
[54:46]Allah I seek refuge in you from the trials and the difficulties
[54:53]and the calamities he then commands his family to sit down on
[54:57]this land this is the place that we will sit down and
[55:04]establish our tents then he looks at them and says this is
[55:11]the place where we will be killed this is the place whereby
[55:15]our blood will be shed this is the place whereby our children
[55:20]and our women will be taken as captives allahar IM is preparing
[55:29]his family and his bit for this land to recognize what will
[55:35]happen on this land but tell me the next time they return
[55:43]to carala when was this when they left carala on the 11th
[55:47]of muharam they returned on the 40th the Caravan of the captives
[55:59]together with and the daughters of Hussein return back to the land
[56:11]ofal they sit they surround the graves of their loved ones the
[56:22]narrations tell us that say Zab had under her abah something she
[56:27]asked she asked IM take me to the grave of my brother
[56:40]AB say Zab sits next to the grave of Hussein this grave
[56:47]that has no head the body that was decapitated say Z takes
[56:54]out the head of allahar this had what kind of Journey did
[57:03]it have fromal all the way towards kufa and Sham and all
[57:08]the way back to the land of carala what happened to this
[57:15]head of Hussein Ali the same head that was kissed and beloved
[57:22]towards BYO it was embraced by the messenger of Allah what happened
[57:26]it on the on the Palace of yazid when yaid and would
[57:34]look at the head of Hussein when he would poke the head
[57:40]of Hussein with a stick when he would hit the lips of
[57:45]abdah with a stick a man who is the companion ofo would
[57:49]look at this and says what is it that you're doing this
[57:54]is the mouth and the head thato embraced and kissed how dare
[58:01]you do such a thing to the head of Hussein and this
[58:07]is the same head that was carried on a spear this is
[58:10]the head that indeed fell and was crushed under the roofs of
[58:17]the horses Allah abbar what else did this head see the head
[58:21]saw the young daughter of Hussein by the name of R she
[58:25]was crying to see the head of her father abah she was
[58:33]only three or four years of age in sham she wept and
[58:38]cried and said where is my father Hussein at that moment yazid
[58:45]who wanted to sleep was disturbed by the cries of R the
[58:49]young three-year-old daughter of abdah otherwise known as sinina she would cry
[58:57]out AB where are you yazid said send her the head at
[59:03]that moment she's presented with a balll which is covered she looks
[59:10]at it she says I did not request any water or food
[59:12]I'm not hungry or thirsty I want my father Hussein when the
[59:19]covering is removed she looks at the head Allah abbar she Embraces
[59:24]it cries out oh my father who is it that's done this
[59:36]to you who is it that's made me an orphan she is
[59:42]then quiet no one can hear the Cries From the daughter of
[59:53]Hussein IM calls out to his auntie Z her soul has departed
[60:05]from this world she has passed away allahar Z sits next to
[60:09]the grave of abdah with the head of Hussein joins the head
[60:14]to the body and weeps and cries and says a Hussein the
[60:20]am that you gave to me that to me to look after
[60:27]your daughter I left her in sham she's no longer there at
[60:30]that moment she looks at her BR her nephew Imam Zay and
[60:39]says this was the protector of Zab this was the one who
[60:46]would look after her Zab would sit next to the grave of
[60:49]Abu weep and cry and she would say you you are the
[60:59]one who brought me toala you are the one who looked after
[61:02]me yeah who is the one who will take me back to
[61:08]Medina what kind of what kind of is this Allah Allah Allah
[61:33]Allah Allah for
