[0:10]assalammualaikum brothers and sisters compassion represents the true spirit of Islam and

[0:19]compassion is far more vital to Islamic teachings compassion means sensitivity to

[0:26]others suffering a person cannot be compassionate unless he or she is

[0:32]sensitive to others suffering and this suffering includes not only human beings

[0:38]but also animals and plants the Quran again and again shows its

[0:48]sympathy to the weaker section of the society and which includes among

[0:53]others the orphans the widows the poor and exploited and other political

[1:00]or social and an economical oppressed people and phrases different ways of

[1:08]helping them and this all is on the grounds of compassion even

[1:12]fasting during the month of Ramadan can be interpreted both spiritually and

[1:20]materially fasting in a spiritual sense is a form of a bada

[1:28]a form of prayer and an attempt to avoid consumerism for cultivating

[1:34]one's spiritual potentialities but it also makes one sensitive to others pain

[1:42]of hunger and develop sensitivity to others suffering and this develops compassion

[1:50]towards the poor compassion towards the poor is so important that Prophet

[1:56]Muhammad peace be upon him used to say that even if one

[2:00]person remains hungry in a locality no angel will dissent in that

[2:09]locality until that hungry person is fun also Prophet Muhammad peace be

[2:15]upon him is reported to have said that it is more worthy

[2:19]to feed a hungry Widow than to prey a full night as

[2:25]per a qur'anic story the family of Prophet Muhammad peace be upon

[2:31]him had to fast three consecutive days to fulfill a vow to

[2:37]God with limited daily food to break fast wit they gave away

[2:42]the food to various individuals who asked for the food on the

[2:47]three consecutive days and remained hungry for three days the Prophet was

[2:54]equally kind to animals - when a woman of distribute came to

[3:01]him and said that she saved the thirsty cat from dying by

[3:04]fetching water the Prophet said Allah will forgive all your sins and

[3:13]you will go to paradise the Prophet according to one tradition described

[3:19]the entire creation including humans animals and plants as of the family

[3:26]of Allah Allah Allah in which they should all be treated with

[3:31]compassion and sensitivity as part of advice to Muslim soldiers Prophet Muhammad

[3:38]peace be upon him said bring no harm to the trees nor

[3:45]burn them especially those which are fruitful don't kill any of the

[3:52]enemy's flocks save them for food you are most likely to pass

[3:55]by people who have devoted their lives for simple services leave them

[4:00]alone thus a real Muslim is one who despite being firm in

[4:08]his or her faith tradition shows equal love and compassion for all

[4:12]human beings whether they belong to his faith tradition or not every

[4:20]faith tradition is unique and should be recognized as such but should

[4:25]not become a tool of nomination the Quran itself declares that all

[4:33]human beings are children of adam' have been honored equally thus there

[4:39]is no justification in showing any discrimination on the basis of faith

[4:48]as far as the quran is concerned when the quran refers to

[4:52]the speaker section and most adiphene it does not qualify it with

[4:57]Muslims it uses an mr.

[5:03]dolphin as conclusive to all human beings all of them are equally

[5:08]entitled to our compassion and the laws mercy no less no more

[5:12]in fact to see it an action we do not need a

[5:19]time machine to travel back the time of Prophet Muhammad peace be

[5:22]upon him there are plenty of icons around us who have shown

[5:28]us the way to be compassionate and in this closing moment of

[5:32]my speech let me mention the prime minister of New Zealand Jacinta

[5:37]Arden who touched many hearts with her display of real compassion we

[5:43]as Canadians are also proud of our national value of compassion by

[5:52]opening our welcoming arms to all who are looking for compassion many

[5:57]of us under this roof and the massive number of Syrian refugees

[6:01]have seen the Canadian compassion and action thank you and salamu alaikum
