[1:10]have believer in so the a la la Li you love him
[1:15]and Allah he was fully so accelerate the reappearance of our awaited
[1:19]the Imam our Jalal Allah with Allah for Azhar Sharif our request
[1:24]we recite three salawatu the loudest of our voices respected scholars brothers
[1:28]and sisters in Islam assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh bliss is an emotional state
[1:33]that is characterized by perfect happiness that is basically the overwhelming feeling
[1:39]of satisfaction pleasure and enjoyment which is to be basically an absolute
[1:45]happiness happiness is what happiness is the opposite of misery and it
[1:50]is a characteristic that you identify a person with meaning if you
[1:54]want to describe a person you would say that this person is
[1:57]happy their joyful they're always smiling they're positive and we all have
[2:01]this one friend that is extremely happy all the time thus sometimes
[2:03]it seems to get a bit uncomfortable to the point I remember
[2:07]when I used to be in house of the first year we
[2:09]had this convert with us and his name was Zach Zach was
[2:14]a gem he was literally a guy that knew everything about anything
[2:17]we used to refer to him as the encyclopedia but that was
[2:21]one of those very happy people and when he was a roommate
[2:25]and when you have a roommate that's very happy overly happy and
[2:27]he would wake up and salat and fidget and wake us all
[2:31]up when he would wake up it would be minus 20 outside
[2:34]and pouring snow and he would say good morning well yes white
[2:37]people tend to butcher my name by the way I get called
[2:40]many different names well while I was named well olive for some
[2:44]time I don't understand why are the actual letters came from but
[2:47]anyways so you would say good morning well as in it's a
[2:51]beautiful beautiful morning and I would say no it's not that's minus
[2:53]20 outside just leave me alone so we all had this one
[2:58]very happy friend that is always very positive very joyful yes and
[3:00]since we said that happiness is a characteristic it is important to
[3:05]understand that the characteristics are of two types there are characteristics that
[3:10]we refer to as natural and there are characteristics that are unnatural
[3:15]meaning what the characteristics that are natural are the ones that are
[3:22]within you by birth the majority of the time meaning that you
[3:24]say this person is big and tall or this person let's say
[3:29]for example is physically strong ability health these are referred to as
[3:34]natural characteristics there are characteristics that are unnatural meaning what meaning they
[3:40]require a mental attention in order for you to identify with meaning
[3:44]once let me explain to you is that if I were to
[3:46]bring a person right now and that person had an inheritance that
[3:51]they are totally oblivious about here Allah and Xiao long one day
[3:55]yes that they they have an inheritance that they are totally oblivious
[3:59]about their wealthy but do they recognize the fact that they're wealthy
[4:02]no they don't because they don't know of that inheritance so when
[4:07]we say characteristics there are unnatural happiness instances considered one of them
[4:12]meaning one has to be aware of the state that he or
[4:17]she are in in order for them to be happy now generally
[4:22]speaking happiness is a very positive thing no one would say that
[4:26]happiness is no one would say that for example it is considered
[4:28]a negative emotion to be happy isn't it yet it depends what
[4:34]is that type of happiness what sense you find that the religion
[4:37]of Islam focuses on a certain type of happiness the happiness that
[4:40]is totally independent from everything else and they happen is that stems
[4:44]from within and to further understand you would notice that the holy
[4:47]quran the verse that i started with is so in surah al-qasas
[4:53]that talks about a Paran and the Perron sets an example about
[4:56]this topic and how is it so we can understand the concept
[5:00]of happiness more and he tells us about the story of Paran
[5:02]who was a wealthy and a fortunate man yet the advice that
[5:07]was given to karun from his people is that do not be
[5:13]happy if allah llahu Hulett Afra innallaha liable for hay now imagine
[5:17]yes that his people told him do not exalt do not be
[5:20]happy indeed Allah does not like the happy ones so what does
[5:25]it mean that Allah does not like the happy ones us does
[5:26]that mean that Allah doesn't want you to be joyful it doesn't
[5:30]want you to be positive no of course not to understand this
[5:32]topic further we shall die sect it tonight and sha allah depending
[5:35]on the following and angles is that number one we should look
[5:40]into the types of happiness according to the Islamic perspective and what
[5:43]is the one to really aim for number two we shall dissect
[5:48]the story of Tarun and we'll separate it into two parts the
[5:51]first part we'll talk about it tonight in sha allah and the
[5:55]second one we'll discuss it within the following nights what the second
[5:58]two two parts a story of perun and number three is that
[6:03]we shall look into the advice that was given to 'firown from
[6:06]the wise people in his community and number four we shall mention
[6:10]the elements have happiness depending on a narration by Imam Assad or
[6:14]salawatullahi wa salamu alayh before we continue I ask you to provide
[6:20]me with a lot salawats the religion of Islam separates the concept
[6:30]of happiness into three different types of happiness now say the first
[6:34]one is the happiness that is dependent on a physical appearance or
[6:40]a physical cause meaning what's meaning it's happiness that comes from the
[6:42]outside it's an external type of happiness I'm sorry the first one
[6:48]we said so is the physical type of happiness the physical type
[6:51]of happiness occurs when a person is healthy like people that are
[6:55]physically strong the fact that they're concerned about their physique it does
[6:59]bring them happiness you find that people that do go to the
[7:01]gym and workouts that the majority of the times you'd look at
[7:06]them and they're going through a pain yet on the other hand
[7:07]if you were to ask them in the state that they're in
[7:11]as soon as they're lifting or dead lifting right as soon as
[7:13]you would ask them that are you happy they would say I'm
[7:17]absolutely satisfied why because they're simply looking at the results that they're
[7:21]seeing it they're witnessing it right away on the spot and even
[7:24]though that there's pain now imagine in order for you to grow
[7:26]your muscle you need to rip it don't you so when you're
[7:30]ripping this muscle that causes you pain you're sore but you're walking
[7:33]in you have this absolute sense of the overwhelming feeling of satisfaction
[7:37]that you're very happiest and the next day you're motivated you want
[7:41]to go again to the gym right that you're always happy you're
[7:45]happy it does make you happy and sometimes obviously people take it
[7:47]a bit far and they start competing and so forth they become
[7:51]professional bodybuilders they're concerned about the physique they're concerned about their physical
[7:55]appearance and that makes them happy right on another example is that
[8:01]even athletes people who play sports people that are athletic they are
[8:03]absolutely happy and for a very simple reason is that especially when
[8:07]they're practiced practicing the sport that they love imagine is that you
[8:12]have a hobby that you're basically practicing or hobby you're on the
[8:15]other hand you're also getting paid for it I mean who wouldn't
[8:18]want that isn't it is that who wouldn't want to have a
[8:20]hobby you're at the same time get paid for it and that's
[8:23]why you find that athletes are very happy right it brings them
[8:25]joy that as soon as on their pitch that's when they're happy
[8:30]I remember they're asking Messi one time is that why is it
[8:32]that you don't like to speak and you don't like to speak
[8:35]in press corps he said to me just give me that soccer
[8:37]ball and let me expose my talent on the soccer field yes
[8:41]and answer panel I remember last night we were talking about patience
[8:44]isn't it and there is one point that it's extremely important to
[8:47]mention is that sometimes you need to have patience over the people
[8:51]that do think that Cristiano Ronaldo is better than Messi may Allah
[8:55]grant us suffer over those people seriously because if anything is that
[8:58]I mean I don't think there is anyone that is to be
[9:01]compared to mercy to begin with may Allah length in his life
[9:02]you are up so he can provide us with more happiness on
[9:05]the soccer field Ya Allah I'm going back to the topic is
[9:08]that you find that these people are very happy they are extremely
[9:12]happy they were and subhanAllah you find that the Islamic perspective we
[9:17]have so many narrations that focus on sports isn't it I'll give
[9:21]you an example Noby Muhammad Sal Allahu alayhi wa Ali was seldom
[9:24]he says in a narration that teacher children swimming archery and horse
[9:29]riding yes and if you focus on those three sports you would
[9:35]realize that those three sports they give you they provide you with
[9:38]a perfect posture that they give you a strong backbone and at
[9:41]the same time they teach you focus and control isn't it and
[9:46]while wonder is that you look at our community centers sometimes and
[9:50]how many sports facilities do they have is that every time we
[9:56]turn to open community centers we really neglect the notion of sports
[9:59]we don't really have entertainment units for the youth sometimes you complain
[10:03]as to why they don't show up but then provide them what
[10:05]they really need is that the you if they have this absolute
[10:09]any energy that they want to let out people want to play
[10:11]they want to practice sports is that it is important to do
[10:15]such a thing yes important to have swimming classes archery horse riding
[10:19]why not even the prophets of allah salem says it's mustahab isn't
[10:23]it as furthermore you would notice that even those who lost a
[10:26]lot of other salem says in a beautiful narration that's very simple
[10:30]but a sec should be beautiful he said that it gives me
[10:34]joy when I look at your children playing worse and I see
[10:39]someone might think that this actually isn't it there's something something simple
[10:43]right yet number one with Rasulullah sallallahu Salam he is basically implementing
[10:46]a scientific reality is that if she have you ever noticed that
[10:50]every time you take your child out to play with sand they
[10:53]obviously never took a class of engineering before the first thing that
[10:57]they start doing is what they start building don't they now something
[11:02]that I've never seen before it's in their nature they start building
[11:05]and that when they start building what's the direction that they move
[11:10]in what they're building and the structure they go up it's in
[11:13]your nature to ascend towards allah subhanahu wata'ala but even from an
[11:17]early child age and that's why rasul allah says it brings me
[11:21]joy when i see your children playing with the sand number two
[11:24]is that i wish also allah would come to our age nowadays
[11:28]where you find children sometimes sometimes it really amazes me is that
[11:31]you take your children to the park and you look at other
[11:33]children they come with their iPads is that what's the point of
[11:36]going to a park when you're going to bring your iPad with
[11:39]you right it's important to push your children out let them play
[11:42]get dirty climb on a tree fall break your arm if you
[11:46]want to even know these are some things that are important in
[11:52]your childhoods yes do not envelop your children and always keep them
[11:55]behind an iPad or in a screen it really amazes me as
[11:57]to why children sometimes sit down and all what they want to
[12:00]do is that they want to play a game and the biggest
[12:01]mistake is one of the parents they give them the phone just
[12:05]be quiet and there you go what you're doing is that you're
[12:07]giving them a disease you're not really helping that child whatsoever a
[12:13]child needs to play that child needs to go out needs to
[12:15]get dirty placed on play a sport get to know a sport
[12:21]you start from a very early age isn't it yes so there's
[12:22]a lot of emphasis from the religion of Islam when it comes
[12:26]to the whole notion of sports and that's what you find that
[12:28]at being athletic is that practicing sports that brings you happiness so
[12:33]that's the first type of happiness and happiness on a physical level
[12:37]the second type of happiness is the happiness caused from an external
[12:43]reason meaning what meaning if there is something present in your life
[12:47]and I want you to focus on this a little is that
[12:50]there is something present in your life something that you might own
[12:54]even that brings you happiness so let's say for example a fancy
[12:57]car is that a fancy car that you've always wanted you finally
[13:01]bought that corner that does bring you happiness that every time you
[13:05]stare at that car right what you tend to do is that
[13:08]you feel happy you're satisfied that you finally have achieved your goal
[13:12]and you or anything materialistic that you own or people that exist
[13:16]in your life for example a wife yes no no one agrees
[13:20]on this part by the way you should say look at their
[13:29]face when I said if I if somehow or a good spouse
[13:33]someone are partying in your life a friend and basically what I'm
[13:38]saying is that there's an external cause something that causes your happiness
[13:42]it comes from the outside it is something that you either own
[13:44]or so forth for instance you find a lot of people that
[13:48]are addicted to the whole concept of Fame they want to be
[13:50]famous they always want to do something to stand out some people
[13:54]have this you know the way they evaluate their success is simply
[13:57]through Fame how famous they are that's how they value their success
[14:01]right so that's a that also bring them happiness now I'm not
[14:04]saying that all these factors that are present can be positive by
[14:10]the way not necessarily know the factors that are present in your
[14:14]life they're not necessarily positive yet they do bring you happiness some
[14:18]people have some some some habits or some type of pleasures that
[14:22]are psychologically ill yet on the other hand bring some happiness right
[14:27]so that's the second type of happiness and then there's the third
[14:30]type of happiness the third type of happiness is the happiness that
[14:34]is caused from within what we refer to as the internal type
[14:39]of happiness and that's basically the happiness that allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala wants
[14:42]you to have when the happiness is from within regardless of the
[14:47]circumstances that you're in regardless of what you go through in your
[14:53]life you are happy you see what's interesting a recent study by
[14:56]social psychologists they said that the best type of happiness that ever
[15:00]attained is called the level of contentment and Subhan Allah when Allah
[15:05]talks about the concept of it at all isn't it is that
[15:10]being content understanding that this is the situation that you're in and
[15:13]knowing how to deal with is that sometimes you find there are
[15:15]many people that you might meet in your life is that you
[15:19]look at their lifestyle and the way they live and they live
[15:22]and the troubles and the tribulations that they go through and you
[15:24]wonder as to why they're happy isn't it a kind of sometimes
[15:27]makes you wonder is that why is this person happy if he's
[15:29]many people they have absolutely every reason not to be happy in
[15:34]this life yet on the other hand you find in the most
[15:35]content and most happy people in life yes and I remember one
[15:40]time remember I have a very good friend of mine one of
[15:42]my best friends say it Hashim Charlie from the Punjabi community in
[15:48]Toronto remember one time in him were sitting down and we called
[15:51]someone for an SD card so he picked up the phone and
[15:55]he called an alum or a scholar called say it alemdar Hussain
[15:57]he lives in a city called Pixlr in the province of Punjab
[16:00]and what he did is that we asked him for his tejada
[16:04]and we didn't list the Hara for something if I'm not mistaken
[16:08]that was a while ago but he gave us a piece of
[16:10]advice that I can never forget it is one of the best
[16:14]pieces of advice that you can ever listen to and I remember
[16:16]asking him is that is my first year of Hausa and I
[16:19]want you to give me an advice he said I want you
[16:24]to said bata my son I want you to focus said yes
[16:28]he said there are two kinds of people that are extremely happy
[16:31]in this world pay attention to this he said there are two
[16:34]types of people that are extremely happy in this world he said
[16:39]the first ones are the ones that are extremely far from allah
[16:43]mohammed al mohammed i was shocked he said the first ones are
[16:51]the ones that are extremely far from allah mohammed al mohammed people
[16:55]that are not attached to religiosity whatsoever and i said why he
[16:59]said because they have nothing to worry about they have no conscience
[17:04]nothing to worry about they don't believe in the hereafter they don't
[17:09]believe that they're accountable for their actions there are totally detached from
[17:13]the divine believe it on sometimes you speak to atheist people you
[17:17]know and they're happy the sad affair they say yeah I'm going
[17:22]to nothingness after there's nothing that I'm going to write I'm now
[17:25]there's nothing called the hereafter you're the one who's trouble in life
[17:27]they look at you and they say you're the one who suffered
[17:30]not me that's the way they look right and it's amazing I
[17:34]remember many people sometimes they come and say the same or Lana
[17:37]you know my friend is atheist but he is amazing he's very
[17:39]good is he gonna go to Jannah well ask him does he
[17:42]want to go to Jannah he doesn't he doesn't want to go
[17:44]to Jannah if you tell an atheist person that do you want
[17:47]to go to heaven that's how you know what are you a
[17:51]fool there's nothing called heaven right so imagine so these people are
[17:55]very happy believe it or not and it's true you see it
[17:57]around you in society people are happy you know he said that
[18:01]there is the second type of people that are extremely happy in
[18:04]this world the ones that are extremely close to allah mohammed al
[18:09]mohammed i said that's true he said then you know who suffers
[18:16]i said no tell me he said the ones in the middle
[18:22]when you're in between that's when you suffer believe it or not
[18:26]you need to choose a side right remember since i got here
[18:32]how do i was in over those repeats Al Hayat Allah then
[18:34]you need to take a decision in life that's true and I
[18:38]totally reminded me of my father may Allah bless his soul and
[18:40]we'd always say this to me as a child is that you
[18:44]need to learn how to take a decision in your life he
[18:48]said you need to choose a side and then say I don't
[18:49]think meaning they said the ones in the middle they're the ones
[18:53]who suffer why because they're always fluctuating yes they do something if
[18:57]they think it's wrong they come back and they feel guilty and
[19:02]that feeling of guilty is not good by the way it's not
[19:04]fun whatsoever you will never put your head on the pillow and
[19:10]rest in peace it is impossible because you're struggling you're fighting there's
[19:14]something inside you so you need to choose a side and be
[19:21]completely happy and content with it right and that's what we said
[19:23]the best are third type of happiness that you're supposed to aim
[19:25]for in life is that the internal type of happiness the one
[19:30]that comes from within stems from within you look at personas into
[19:33]history like a Buddha Allah Allah Allah Allah Muhammad Ahmad la la
[19:38]la have an ID they are all happy even though they were
[19:44]in situations being bullied from the community us being killed in some
[19:49]cases prosecuted being thrown in prison but they were extremely content and
[19:53]happy simply because they believed that they were on the righteous path
[19:56]Abu Dharr Aldith re when he was exiled to robada if you
[20:00]can go right now and look at rubble you cannot live in
[20:02]it Lots alone back in the days I would ever thought he
[20:06]was exiled or about that Imam I mean al-islam or he went
[20:08]one time to visit Abu Dharr we asked him how do you
[20:11]feel he said as long as I'm on your path which is
[20:15]the path of help I'm very happy imagine yes Abu Basir you
[20:17]know there's a famous companion for Imam Asad Ali said on what's
[20:22]his name Abu Basir a boy by the way that was in
[20:23]his name that was his title and he didn't have a son
[20:27]called Bashir imam sadiq ali said i'm called him Abu Basir bus
[20:29]here from buzzer meaning what meaning the one who was insightful even
[20:33]though he was blind yet imam sadiq ali said ah mr.
[20:36]clown the end in sight for one Subhan Allah yes Abu Basir
[20:41]one time painting mama satellizer Abu Basir would live in any city
[20:45]and people would bully him all the time people would throw rocks
[20:48]on him all the time the simplest thing that they would call
[20:51]him is what a Rafah D a Shia right to the point
[20:55]that sometimes they would tell him you know what if your Imam
[20:58]is really sada then let's him bring back your sights yes and
[21:03]then they would cast rocks on him and tell him it is
[21:06]a lot of throwing rocks on you it make fun of him
[21:08]now Abu Basir would be patient he would take this type of
[21:12]abuse from the community and every time he would go visit Imam
[21:15]asada salatullah salamullah Imam Assad up knows what he's going through you
[21:19]would ask him overseer how are you he would say I'm absolutely
[21:22]good and happy on Imam until one time I'm overseer felt really
[21:26]depressed yes that the attack started being on his own family and
[21:31]then he went to imam sadiq ali salaam and he told him
[21:33]exactly what's happening to him he said overseer imam asado sun's shadow
[21:39]up was here if the people are exposed to the type of
[21:42]knowledge that we are giving to the private companions such as you
[21:49]then trust me they wouldn't abuse you yet they would take the
[21:51]sand that's coming or the dust that's coming from your feet and
[21:58]they put it on top of their head and then he continued
[21:59]and he said yeah above us here do you want me to
[22:04]bring back your sight to you or are you happy this will
[22:08]end and you'll continue living in the community normally are you happy
[22:11]this is the way you are he said no I'm happy the
[22:16]way I am oh c'mon he said how is it that you
[22:19]find my our love inside your heart here above us here he
[22:21]said the Imam to me having that love towards you inside my
[22:29]heart is better than seeing the every day in night magic Sampson
[22:33]was happy he was satisfied he was content right so you need
[22:39]to choose a side once in your life is that you need
[22:41]to understand that this is what you need to long for is
[22:45]that that internal type of happiness to be content and live in
[22:48]tranquility and peace or else you're always trouble if your happiness gonna
[22:52]always be dependent on something else that's something else is gonna end
[22:59]it might not stay it's not everlasting right it's not gonna stay
[23:03]totally there's always gonna be another reason and you're always gonna look
[23:07]for something else to make you happy right if it's not a
[23:09]thing it's someone and then you're gonna move on but you need
[23:12]to attain that inner peace that you're absolutely happy that even if
[23:16]you were to be with yourself alright so that's the third type
[23:20]of happiness and that leads me on to the second point of
[23:23]our discussion tonight you see allah subhanaw taala talked about the story
[23:27]of a woman who was Peron Harun is basically referred to as
[23:32]Cora in the Old Testament Cora was a very wealthy man Allah
[23:35]subhana WA Ta'ala says bismillah ar-rahman ar-rahim in our own economy o
[23:39]me Musa fava Holly him indeed Cora was from the people of
[23:45]Moses but he intimidated them meaning words meaning that Cora was from
[23:48]the people of Lebanon Musa meaning that he was a relative of
[23:50]nabi musa the old testament suggests that Cora was from the sons
[23:56]of Lao II the what the son of yaqoob and he was
[23:58]from the great grandsons of Lao II of course the son of
[24:02]yaqoob and he was the cousin of Mousa Lisa lon that's even
[24:06]the Islamic perspective says the same thing yes it's either he was
[24:09]his first cousin from his mother's side or his father's side that's
[24:12]what they were that they differed on write our own was a
[24:16]knowledgeable man he was a person of knowledge he know the Torah
[24:21]you know the Old Testament very well yes and he was considered
[24:24]to be one of the close friends of nabi musa alayhis salam
[24:28]and it was a fortunate man extremely wealthy allah says in the
[24:32]quran economy communist of abbas oh but he intimidated his people meaning
[24:36]that the status that he had as soon as it was supported
[24:41]was well with wealth started intimidating to people you know he started
[24:45]bullying the people his own community started putting pressure on the people
[24:49]look at me and showing off and self boasting baba well I'll
[24:52]tell you now whom inalco newsy and then we had given him
[24:57]so much treasures ma anima Fatiha who later new boroughs but you
[25:02]know power to the points that the keys yes the keys of
[25:08]those treasures the keys of those treasures is that they would indeed
[25:12]prove heavy to carry from a band of stalwarts meaning what a
[25:18]band of stalwarts stalwarts are people that are highly trained they are
[25:22]physically strong they're highly trained they're private guards and a band of
[25:27]stalwarts is basically a group of men that consists from ten to
[25:30]forty men so what I don't do is that those men he
[25:34]needed that many men to carry his Treasuries around so I imagine
[25:38]how much treasures in that man had alright so at wherever they
[25:41]were gold he would carry those treasures around its Carla who pauletta
[25:45]Fran Aloha liable for him that his people told him do not
[25:50]exalt do not be happy for indeed Allah does not like the
[25:52]happy ones so now after we've dissected the three different types of
[25:56]happiness what are the people of kill Cora telling him is that
[25:58]do not let your happen is be dependent on something external or
[26:01]physical do not let your happiness stem from something materialistic right and
[26:07]that's why they told them Allah does not like the happy ones
[26:10]that unlike the exultant especially the ones that flaunt their wealth and
[26:13]wealth and they intimidate the people right and then they continued and
[26:17]gave him a four pieces of advice beautiful advice so after the
[26:19]first advice they told ona I'll be happy do not be exalted
[26:23]that negative type of happiness they continue to give him the rest
[26:26]of the advice I told him the first one worked every fema
[26:30]attack allahu ta'ala i fear i want you to focus on this
[26:34]because if you're longing to be financially stable in life do not
[26:37]forget those four pieces of advice what a lot brothers and sisters
[26:40]you know what the problem that we suffer from in our community
[26:44]or in our understanding is that we're so far away from the
[26:47]Quran you see as a Muslim you get asked all the time
[26:49]as of what's your manual in life as a Muslim it's the
[26:55]Quran isn't it your manual in life is the Quran your way
[26:57]of life is the Quran refer back to the Quran in everything
[27:02]Ayatollah bash at me Allah bless his soul used to always just
[27:04]from this point he said the problem with us the followers of
[27:08]a debate is that we've took the idol bait without the power
[27:10]on sometimes that's an issue they come together they come together I'll
[27:15]better the equals of the Quran right in order for you to
[27:20]understand Quran you need the a debate and in order for you
[27:24]to understand they are debating in the Quran this is a very
[27:26]important message that you need to employ to implement in your life
[27:31]you see so if you're longing to be fortunate one day or
[27:33]to be successful one day always keep those things in your mind
[27:37]those four pieces of advice says what Terry FEMA article on Allah
[27:42]Allah so by the means that Allah has given you make sure
[27:44]that you seek the Hereafter meaning what meaning that since Allah subhana
[27:49]WA Ta'ala provided you with wealth that should give you more time
[27:54]to focus on your hereafter right because you're more comfortable you need
[27:57]you don't need to put a lot of effort you know you
[27:59]don't need to really work extra hours you don't really need to
[28:04]me you know you don't need to to worry about the means
[28:07]of sustenance right because that's what happens sometimes what makes you lose
[28:10]focus from a bada or focus from the path is literally striving
[28:16]daily trying to offer the means of sustenance right this is the
[28:19]thing so you know what Allah the people of Korah which were
[28:21]basically the wise people of the Israelites so the optelec in my
[28:25]article offered our life you know so this is since Allah provided
[28:27]you with wealth then make sure you seek the Hereafter then try
[28:32]use it and seek the hereafter you know what's interesting is that
[28:35]Imam amirul mumineen salatullah salamullah such a narration he says that a
[28:42]wise man seeks perfection you're a foolish one seeks wealth and a
[28:48]wise man seeks perfection get a foolish one 6:12 and then he
[28:52]mama me nobody says another narration if not liars but there are
[28:56]two types of people that will never have enough tally Burrell what
[28:59]Ali boom Ali and said the one who's seeking knowledge and the
[29:03]one who's seeking wealth the one who is seeking knowledge would always
[29:06]say what poor Rob visit me Elma oh Allah please increase me
[29:09]in knowledge knowledge is beautiful sometimes when you get into a certain
[29:13]science you always want to understand more if I'm people that are
[29:17]working in labs these are the ones that confuse me as to
[29:19]why they're happy but they're very happy and stalking you bugs me
[29:25]I have to admit but they're very happy they see what are
[29:28]you doing you're just sitting and focusing why because it says the
[29:30]whole notion of discovery they're finding something I'm just hating on them
[29:34]because I used to be very bad in scientific field and in
[29:37]school that's the reason I have to admit that anyways so in
[29:40]order to meet they're very happy but you know what you don't
[29:43]see this why because they're seeking knowledge and the ones they never
[29:47]have enough they always want to learn more they always want more
[29:49]to learn they always want to prove another thing you want to
[29:52]study another thing there's another scientific discovery and the ones that are
[29:56]seeking welfare are seeking money you know the one that's always that's
[29:58]the only thing that in their mind in front they can never
[30:00]have enough they always want more they just want to give them
[30:04]right I remember it's interesting some people are surely that even on
[30:07]their deathbed they think what they're thinking of as wealth I'm giving
[30:09]an example one of the personal incidents that happened with me one
[30:12]of my friends from the Sydney Brothers one of my really good
[30:16]friends back in Ottawa has father passed away long story short we
[30:19]went to the Masjid we did that janazah and then we went
[30:23]to bury him there's an area in Ottawa called Bar Haven and
[30:25]there's a graveyard for the Muslims there so I remember one we
[30:30]won there it was a brand new graveyard so I think there
[30:32]was only about three or four graves three to four graves so
[30:36]anyways they dug the grave and we were waiting for the generosity
[30:39]right by the car so I went around and I said let's
[30:41]just recite Fatiha for those mcmean they're Muslims they're Arbor here and
[30:44]I kid you not one of the things that really shocked me
[30:48]is that I approached a grave and I'm looking at the tombstone
[30:50]and I read the name the name was in small letters and
[30:56]under it was in big letters engineer I'm not kidding with you
[31:01]on his tombstone they wrote engineer and I said wait a second
[31:07]you know I hope I'm gonna make you realize that the guy
[31:13]they're gonna come down on the grave and ask him okay what
[31:16]do you think now where should we construct the way you want
[31:19]to put your head please we would like to build another grave
[31:22]right beside you your position in heaven no do you want to
[31:24]draw the map I don't get it is that why insisting on
[31:29]that title you know imagine you have the title engineer that's something
[31:32]that I've never seen seriously Canada is the country of Wonders I
[31:36]swear to God you see things sometimes that are anyways so you
[31:39]know most of us that's the case is that people sometimes they're
[31:42]seeing well the always thinking was so the people of Moses are
[31:46]telling him what what tell if he might attack Allah that Allah
[31:48]Allah is that by the means that Allah is giving you then
[31:53]seek the hereafter use them employ them to use that to get
[31:56]to the hereafter yes well Aten so no see become in a
[32:00]dunya focus on this how beautiful is the Quranic expression is he
[32:03]our merciful as allah subhanaw taala while not forgetting your share in
[32:07]this world meaning that enjoy the wealth that you have the religion
[32:10]of islam once she will be financially stable financially sufficient it is
[32:15]wonderful to be financial sufficient that you don't need to ask anyone
[32:20]for anything that you write the religion of islam one should be
[32:24]suffer financial suffers one financially stable well at do not forget to
[32:27]share in this world enjoy the wealth that you have and that's
[32:31]what this generation by the prophet sallallaahu sunder says what is that
[32:35]one allah subhanaw taala provides someone with a nama he likes to
[32:38]see the effect on the sanam on him right they even dress
[32:43]well look presentable as a Muslim all the time it's wonderful show
[32:46]thus namma on you don't flaunt it there's a difference between both
[32:50]is that show that Namur let it show but effect look like
[32:54]that that never has an effect on you right well at insanity
[32:57]but me not doing well simcha my son Allahu Allah and do
[33:02]good like Allah has done good to you you see ayatollah nasser
[33:10]mcaren makes a beautiful point in this Minister Sienna Mona he says
[33:14]what he said he says that expect people to come to you
[33:19]and ask you the same way you're asked you asked Allah cuz
[33:22]since when you're asked when you asked a lot of Lost Planet
[33:27]or I'll provided you with that nama he provided you with wealth
[33:29]there are other people that are asking Allah to and sometimes Allah
[33:33]wants you to be the wasilla he wants you to be that
[33:40]connection so expect so do good let people like allotted good to
[33:45]you another thing is that when you do good do it do
[33:49]it yet resembling the manners of allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala meaning do good
[33:54]and totally help out and be quiet about that about it when
[34:00]you help a person do not remind them of it because that
[34:01]really hurts them see a beautiful narration that one time a person
[34:05]came and knocked on the door of imam hussain ali salaam he
[34:10]wanted money the mattress and i said i'm said to the servant
[34:12]tell him to write down all right on the sand the amount
[34:17]of money that he wants the servant said why he said i
[34:22]do not want to see his face when he's asking me so
[34:29]you wonder in the Sierra what we call him or personally Sarah
[34:35]Muhammad Allah head was all the white mercy the general mercy of
[34:38]Allah that was wonderful why because when someone is asking you for
[34:42]a favor they're trying their best to be nice they're trying to
[34:46]bet to be polite right sometimes what we tend to do people
[34:51]like myself we have this ego that's what we want to do
[34:52]is that we want to see them we want to see them
[34:56]begging for it right see and tell them say please right no
[34:58]I said no I don't even want to see that on you
[35:02]well I think come on allahu allah and the last one is
[35:07]what well our Taba villa facade the fil art in the la
[35:09]jolla you have balm of Sidon and do not strive to spread
[35:15]corruption in this world for indeed Allah does not like the agents
[35:18]of corruption focus on the worst ah the one the first one
[35:24]on the second one in Allah Allah you have born 13 inna
[35:25]llaha you have one move City a lot is not like two
[35:29]kinds of people in this verse that depending on this verse the
[35:31]first ones are the ones that are happy exultant in that sense
[35:35]and we explained it and the second ones are the ones that
[35:36]are agents of corruption why because one corruption in order for you
[35:43]to spread corruption you need money you need wealth right they go
[35:48]hand in hand you need money involved you need to spread corruption
[35:52]then you need someone to fund that corruption right like the US
[35:55]and Saudi they're best friends for a reason one of them spreading
[35:59]corruption and the other one is willing to pay for it they
[36:00]don't mind it's the money of the Muslims let them pay for
[36:05]it okay that's a reality right what I will first saw the
[36:08]salar de la la la abu musa d and therefore that leads
[36:12]me on to the fourth point and the final point of our
[36:14]discussion tonight you see when one might ask is that what are
[36:20]the elements of happiness if none of it needs to be external
[36:22]or physical and has to be from within its what are the
[36:27]elements of happiness according to mama saw the salah whathe lo ceremony
[36:31]he says any narration beautiful narration and he tells a happiness of
[36:36]a man as in four things he said the first one is
[36:43]a good understanding wife that is willing to adapt to the circumstances
[36:50]of life meaning whites it's not only a wife expect that even
[36:54]the vice versa or a partner a spouse in your life someone
[36:56]that is willing to even when you go through hardships in life
[37:03]that they stay with you but they believe in you but they're
[37:06]knowing that there's an end goal and that's why you speak to
[37:10]people that are successful in life they always they always relate to
[37:14]their partner they always say that I had someone that supported me
[37:16]someone that believed in me someone that pushed me someone that made
[37:19]me better someone that believed in what I want to become right
[37:24]you find so many things if I the list can go on
[37:27]for example you find in one of the stories of Conor McGregor
[37:30]the mixed martial artist he says that said I used to live
[37:32]in a trailer park but my wife is taking that welfare money
[37:36]and what she she wouldn't even buy food with it she would
[37:38]give it to me so I can buy my nutrition with it
[37:41]so I can become a better fighter and we imagine it and
[37:44]so on many stories about these things we can go on from
[37:48]her the whole night about that wonderful is that it is always
[37:50]that has to do with a partner in your life someone that
[37:52]totally believed in you someone that is willing to suffer with you
[37:56]and how wonderful is this look at the relationship between ha dicho
[38:00]slow what allows alimony her and maybe muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam
[38:03]right that's at the point that also la would say what is
[38:05]that this islam this religion would have never been spread if it
[38:10]wasn't for the wealth of Khadija and the sort of a leave
[38:12]not be Peloponnese salah you see none do you understand what rasool
[38:17]allah is saying that you and i right now we wouldn't be
[38:19]present and sitting focus on the details of the liberation when you
[38:22]listen to her already when you read one is that you and
[38:26]i right now won't be sitting discussing mourning over our imam having
[38:30]it is who this wonderful you know community event simply because the
[38:34]only reason that we are right now is because of the world
[38:38]of Khadija is because of the fact that she was supportive of
[38:40]her husband she was you know she was willing to sacrifice anything
[38:43]for her husband and that's one thing and another hand the same
[38:47]thing when it comes to the movement of enormous in salawatu love
[38:50]ceremony there wasn't first aiders in of salawats allah wa salam ala
[38:53]wasn't that the case yes so the first one is always a
[38:57]partner says the firm is a partner that believes in you basically
[39:00]the second one he says honourable children meaning good children you see
[39:07]there is an apparent in this life that does not want good
[39:11]children you speak to any parent and they say I hope I
[39:15]have an evil child no no one says that everyone wants a
[39:18]good child everyone want their children to become better children tend to
[39:22]get the evil though sometimes they're so vicious but everyone wants a
[39:28]good child everyone wants the children to be coming back and by
[39:30]the way there's a theory that says that a father does not
[39:33]like anyone to be better than him in this world except for
[39:35]his son right or his children he always wants to see them
[39:41]better always wants to see them the most successful people in life
[39:44]all right so having good honorable number two honorable children meaning what
[39:48]is that children that are willing to carry their parents when they
[39:53]grow old Ya Allah I remember one time my phone rang and
[40:01]it was a person from our community and then he asked me
[40:03]a question and he said Mawlana I'm putting my mother in a
[40:04]retirement home and I just want to ask you is that is
[40:09]it possible ok can you find out if there's a photo that
[40:12]it's possible for her to eat the food by the time I
[40:13]start bringing her halal food and I said it I don't know
[40:17]what do I need to curse you out for and so the
[40:19]first one or the second one and I literally hung up on
[40:23]him see the fact that you want to put your parents in
[40:26]a retirement home or in old-age home that by itself as a
[40:34]disaster they carried you when you were a child and they have
[40:38]sacrificed everything for me for you and you're a child yet when
[40:44]you grow up how many of us are not willing forget about
[40:46]the fact that putting them in retirement on they're not willing to
[40:49]get the blessings of having their parents with the would them living
[40:55]with them what a blessing you see a man came Thor also
[41:00]lost a lolly wolly Salomon he told him what's my mother recently
[41:02]passed away he said you have lost a direct connection to Allah
[41:06]see how many people are not willing to even host their own
[41:16]parents you'd be shocked they're not even once take care of their
[41:20]parents so what they do is that they give it to someone
[41:24]else they throw that responsibility on someone else how sad it is
[41:31]is that you as an honorable person it is your duty and
[41:35]by the way you don't need to be thanked for it the
[41:39]most thing that bugs me a life are people who love to
[41:44]get credit for something they're supposed to do it is your watch
[41:48]you're supposed to do this it is your watch up to be
[41:53]honorable to your parents don't say state the obvious oh I'm good
[41:57]to my parents well youth it's almost like saying oh I have
[42:02]a job while you're supposed to write so the second one is
[42:06]honorable children having honorable children and I'm sure each one of us
[42:09]when they're raising their children that's the only thing that we're thinking
[42:12]of is that we hope that when we grow they take care
[42:18]of us right number three is basically a country where you live
[42:23]in that you consider home and you have your family and friends
[42:26]around you and that would allow you to have a social life
[42:31]because that's fun having a social life is one of the means
[42:33]of happiness you know it's wonderful to live around the community that
[42:40]you have friends and families and you can become closer you know
[42:43]it is actually one it does bring your happiness and number four
[42:47]and I want you to focus on the last one is that
[42:51]having good friends you see this is sometimes an issue because how
[42:56]many people you can find in life that they were starting and
[43:01]they were supposed to become something in life but simply because of
[43:05]the wrong crowd they ended up deviating from the path how many
[43:10]marriages have been can because of bad friends how many relationships have
[43:16]been broken because of bad friends so I'm not gonna elaborate more
[43:20]about it a lot the Imam speak there's a beautiful narration by
[43:23]imam zain I begin salawatullahi wa salamu alayh where he tells her
[43:27]son imam and butter he says pony pony butler do not befriend
[43:33]five types of friends what types of people this is the first
[43:39]type that you shouldn't be friends it doesn't burn a Yokohama Sahaba
[43:42]tell cat that fan hookahs robbed you are Republican buried will you
[43:48]buy I do a little creeped certain way Sun Bakr do not
[43:53]befriend a liar focus on this understand that right now you're at
[43:56]an age where you need to identify your friends you need to
[44:02]have good friends or else if you're gonna have bad friends right
[44:05]now and let go of this and think that you know what
[44:08]they're gonna be present in my lifetime they're always gonna be present
[44:10]in your life and yet they're gonna put you down you'll never
[44:12]be successful in life and there are some friends that you might
[44:16]have a life that they want to look at you fail and
[44:20]they don't mind they don't mind at all right so do not
[44:25]befriend a liar for indeed he's like an illusion he pictures everything
[44:29]that is far far from you as being very close to you
[44:34]right it's like an illusion when you look at an illusion is
[44:36]that you think it's close and every time you approach it it's
[44:38]actually far so that's the first type do not befriend a lawyer
[44:42]the second one in thousand when I back and worry Yakima saw
[44:45]Hobart alphas up in who you be okay be at Leighton alumina
[44:51]and it's awesome all my son butter do not befriend a fossil
[44:54]a one who seeks his pleasure there are people that are only
[45:01]concerned about their own pleasures they only want to satisfy their pleasures
[45:04]there is only about them they're very self-centered they're very selfish selfish
[45:10]people do not have them in your life trust me they won't
[45:13]worry they don't care they don't care about anything else it says
[45:18]do not whatever so do not befriend the pleasure seeker why the
[45:21]Imam says explains he says because he is he would be what
[45:23]to sell you out for something so insignificant that brings them pleasure
[45:29]and it could be something as simple as a bite of food
[45:32]subhanAllah even food where they're willing to sell you out do not
[45:39]befriend a fossil a person that this base Allah don't ever think
[45:42]that he's gonna have honor towards you it is impossible drive from
[45:46]the fossil and then he continues what yeah Kiwanis our habit al
[45:52]the healed for in who I am now come in Molly I
[45:54]would you not a Kunal a and do not be friend stingy
[45:58]stingy Ness that disease a movement is never stingy a Muslim is
[46:03]never stingy Rasulullah SAS a madman has two main traits courage and
[46:13]generosity as a mock mean you need to be brave and generous
[46:16]says what Yakima so Allah says do not befriend a stingy for
[46:24]indeed he will prevent you his money when you are most in
[46:27]need of it is what ends up happening sometimes that's a third
[46:33]type and then he continues what a Yakama habit Allah who you
[46:38]read or onion for the rook and do not befriend one that
[46:41]has a foolish mind for even when he wants to do you
[46:46]a favor he ends up causing you damage some people insist on
[46:49]not using the Faculty of reasoning some friends refuse to grow up
[46:55]as just go back to it I mean we have time at
[46:58]all to dissect out there's a theory by Jordan Pederson a clinical
[47:00]psychologist from Toronto University of Toronto it talks about the Peter Pan
[47:04]theory the boy that never wants to grow right we all know
[47:06]this in life there's a lot of people I meant like that
[47:09]in society that they refuse to grow that even sometimes they are
[47:12]very very old age but they act like children they still think
[47:17]they're teenagers right basically so do not befriend the one with a
[47:20]foolish mind so even when he wants to do your favor he
[47:22]ends up causing you a damage and then the fifth type or
[47:27]a yakima saw a battle totally Rahimi in Nene was a to
[47:33]him alone unforgettable ah and do not befriend the one that cuts
[47:37]off relationships his own family the one that does not honor his
[47:41]parents for indeed I have found him cursed in the book of
[47:46]Allah a person that does not honor his own parents how is
[47:48]he gonna be a good friend to you I think he's gonna
[47:52]honor your friendship impossible a person that is willing to cut off
[47:57]relationship with his own family is never gonna be loyal to you
[48:03]right is that that for elements of happiness so one Imam Asad
[48:07]Ali Salaam explains us and stresses on that point he's basically teaching
[48:11]us a lesson understanding us that these things if they are present
[48:14]in your life then indeed you're gonna be happy you're gonna be
[48:17]successful in life and what distinguish the movement of Imam has since
[48:21]Allah what Allah WA Salim Ali to the land of Karbala is
[48:25]having that support from the close family and friends and imagine if
[48:29]you are personally Salaam did not have the support of his brothers
[48:35]his children as sisters his wives yes that support came for a
[48:39]reason because if these are the ones that are not gonna believe
[48:43]in your movement and your message then who will and that's why
[48:45]you find that you sign a lease alimony says Allah he that'll
[48:52]cut or run oh Allah I have left those creatures who is
[48:56]he talking about he's not good not talking about people like myself
[48:59]that he loved no no no he's basically telling Allah Allah look
[49:06]who I left I left Holly you know Akbar for you I
[49:09]left Sakina for you I left say the same about yourself for
[49:20]you look at the ones that I left just for you well

[49:30]to see you how romantic is this how beautiful is this Amara
[49:40]Sonali Salam is talking about those orphans the orphans and the tell
[49:44]the children of Bani Hashim the orphans such as halal Oscar of
[49:47]the law I revere the orphan such as alpha yes Absalon al-hasan
[49:54]and so forth these are the ones that him ever since a
[50:00]lotta Lotta molly is talking about yes the orphans such as sailor

[50:15]crying and weeping and I said o imam why is it that
[50:21]you're crying still over Caramella and what's happened or imam you are
[50:26]from an elevator that martyred him as something that you used to
[50:33]yes imam zain al-abideen Allah's Salam replies back I am crying or
[50:38]focus on this mock me Nina does he tell him over my
[50:41]father for saying no it does he tell him over Allahu Akbar
[50:46]I said no because he told him over Abdullah an idea I
[50:53]know it wasn't me AHA bahama I am crying because of a
[50:57]sham a sham a Shia Hamza Omaha MA if you only have
[51:04]entered to the court of Yazidis and saw the women of June
[51:07]children of bani hashem and every stranger is staring at their face
[51:15]yeah Abba Hamza o Muhammad what do you know about the orphan
[51:19]of Hasan ruqaiya alaihe salam the infant the child of imam and
[51:22]the daughter of imam hussain alehissalaam that kept crying she stayed up
[51:28]all night crying longing for her father the narrations say that yes
[51:36]he'd heard he said what is this and what is this commotion
[51:38]and they told him that it's one of the daughters of Imam
[51:41]Hussain she's crying because she misses her father and then yes he
[51:47]tells them then take her the head of her father Hussain narration
[51:51]say and that they gave her the head of imam hussain ali
[51:58]salam she uncovered it looked at the head of her father the
[52:02]face of her father and cried out o my father jose come
[52:08]to me my father jose na and then she fell on the
[52:11]face of our Father when a racial say mom's a non-rpg looked
[52:17]at his eye and say the same up and he sat on
[52:22]my I'm Zeynep left aa ProCare for indeed she had tied in
