[0:12]muhammad my respected brothers and sisters as you know we are in

[1:03]the spiritual season the month of rajab [Music] and this spiritual season

[1:10]culminates into the peak of spirituality and that is during the holy

[1:16]month of ramadan and tomorrow insha'allah will be the first day of

[1:22]the holy month of so the month of rajab is already behind

[1:26]us and now we have the month of shabbat and the month

[1:32]that comes after is the holy month of ramadan now when some

[1:37]people hear that the month of ramadan is getting close they get

[1:41]a little bit nervous they get anxious and others they get excited

[1:43]and they get happy so everyone has a different mood as we

[1:49]welcome the month of ramadan however my dear brothers and sisters this

[1:57]season the season of rajab and season of spirituality this is the

[2:05]time to gain nearness to allah and as you have seen during

[2:10]the month of rajab and also we will have throughout the month

[2:15]of and during the month of ramadan there are many opportunities and

[2:20]events for dua are worth more than 60 years of worship worth

[2:46]more than 60 years of ibadah this is the eve of the

[2:51]27th of rajab and of course during the month of shabbat we

[2:55]have the mitch the eve of the myth of shabbat eve of

[2:58]the 15th which is considered to be the second holiest night out

[3:04]of the year after laid and during the month of ramadan we

[3:09]have laid a tarpon so one of the themes of these three

[3:13]months is spirituality and also specifically the theme of dua the theme

[3:22]of calling upon allah and speaking to allah and my dear brothers

[3:30]and sisters is one of the greatest forms of worship it's one

[3:34]of the greatest forms of ibaadah in seeking nearness to allah of

[3:40]course prayer the prayer that we pray is a type of it's

[3:44]also a type of jihad falls under the category of gohan and

[3:49]allah subhanahu wa ta'ala wants us to always call upon him allah

[3:56]wants us to always perform and your lord says call upon me

[4:03]and i shall answer you and then the following verse says who

[4:15]have stakbar those who are too proud to call upon allah and

[4:21]do dua to allah will enter into the hell fire what does

[4:23]this mean this means that dua is a form of worship and

[4:29]when you do du'a you're acknowledging the hierarchy of the relationship between

[4:34]you and allah subhanahu wa you're acknowledging that god is the giver

[4:38]god is the bestower god you are the ones who are in

[4:56]need of god and allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is the rich allah

[5:01]is the one who gives so dua is a form of submissive

[5:07]worship to allah it's a form of this is why we have

[5:11]to always do dua we have to always ask allah subhanahu wa

[5:14]one day one of the companions of imam assad he asks the

[5:20]imam he tells him should i read quran or should i do

[5:21]duha [Music] and then he recited this verse because it's a form

[5:47]of worship it's a form of submissiveness you're acknowledging that you are

[5:51]the slave you are the servant and allah is the lord what

[5:54]whereas when you're reading the quran that feeling of that feeling of

[5:59]servitude does not come but when you're calling upon allah you're acknowledging

[6:03]that you are in need of god and god is the lord

[6:07]and you are the one who's in need so my dear brothers

[6:11]and sisters dua is calling upon allah subhanahu ta'ala allah has promised

[6:16]us that he will answer our book as now some people they

[6:22]come and they say but i've been calling upon allah i've been

[6:25]doing dua and my qu'a is not being answered where is the

[6:30]promise of allah hasn't god promised that he will answer us a

[6:41]companion he comes to the imam and he tells them there's a

[6:45]verse in the quran that i am confused about because allah says

[6:49]that will call upon me and i will answer you and i've

[6:53]been doing dua and my supplication my need has not been given

[6:57]to me he tells him yes do you think that allah is

[7:05]going to lie to you in the quran when allah says do

[7:09]you think allah is just lying to you the man says no

[7:12]allah does not lie then the imam tells him that that means

[7:17]there's a problem with either the person doing the or there's a

[7:24]problem with the dua itself that's the issue because it's three part

[7:27]three issues either it's from god which allah has promised you will

[7:34]give or it's from the person and many of us have flaws

[7:36]many of us have faults or it's the dua itself maybe the

[7:41]dua is not something that's good for me at this particular time

[7:43]at this particular moment so the imam then he teaches the man

[7:51]how to do duham he tells him allah [Laughter] our relationship with

[8:35]god is a selfish relationship we only want god when we want

[8:38]something we only turn to allah we only do dua when we

[8:43]are in need of something otherwise in times of comfort when we

[8:45]are not in need we don't turn to allah some of us

[8:51]have that relationship with allah a selfish relationship or some of us

[8:57]we don't even have a relationship with allah some of us we

[9:00]don't even turn to allah some people don't ask allah when they're

[9:04]in need they go and they knock on everyone else's door and

[9:06]then finally they say yeah maybe i should also ask allah when

[9:11]that is the wrong attitude the first one that we should turn

[9:17]to when we are in need any type of need that you

[9:18]have the first one that you turn to is allah and then

[9:21]you turn to anyone else even if you are sick for example

[9:27]allah says go to the doctor you will receive the treatment through

[9:30]the doctor however in the back of your head in the back

[9:34]of your mind you have to believe that the health and the

[9:37]treatment comes by the permission of allah subhana this medicine that you

[9:42]take you're supposed to take the medicine you're supposed to protect yourself

[9:46]but you're supposed to believe that this medicine has its effect by

[9:49]the permission of allah subhanahu ta'ala otherwise without the permission of allah

[9:54]nothing will work so we need to have that in the back

[9:58]of our mind have that in our hearts that we have to

[10:00]always turn to allah [Music] what does this verse say the one

[10:24]who's in distress am i in distress when i turn to allah

[10:28]many times we're not in distress many times we do just for

[10:32]the heck of it we're raising our hands we're saying we're not

[10:36]desperate to allah like we are desperate for other people for example

[10:44]if you ask allah sometimes i'm desperate but i don't turn to

[10:48]allah i turn to this person and that person we don't have

[10:52]a relationship with god where we turn to allah in times of

[10:55]need so this is what has to do with the person i

[10:59]have to be distressed i have to be desperate i have to

[11:03]have a relationship with god i have to obey allah then allah

[11:07]will answer this is one second my dear brothers and sisters it

[11:11]has to do with the dua itself what are you asking allah

[11:18]for sometimes we ask for certain things that are bad for us

[11:21]sometimes we ask for certain things that are destructive to ourselves to

[11:27]our families to our livelihood a lot of us we don't know

[11:30]what to ask we are we are not very mature in our

[11:35]dua when we are asking allah subhana we ask for silly things

[11:38]just like a child you know a child when they go to

[11:41]the candy store they come and they want to take everything they

[11:44]want to take everything the parents tell them this is not good

[11:47]for you this is going to hurt you and this is bad

[11:50]for you they say no no i want it and they cry

[11:51]and they beg now crying and begging and insisting is a good

[11:55]attitude with allah you're supposed to insist with allah you're not supposed

[12:00]to give up but sometimes we need to know what we're asking

[12:03]for you know children they do this and adults do this as

[12:06]well adults when they go on amazon.com or they're shopping some people

[12:10]they just everything is on the shopping list everything is in the

[12:16]in the cards a few days ago a person came up to

[12:19]me a couple they were going through some issues the husband said

[12:23]during the pandemic my wife spent 120 000 on amazon.com 120 000

[12:30]now this is going to make a lot of you feel better

[12:34]about your shopping probably so some people that's it they have this

[12:39]addiction where when they want something right away whether it's good for

[12:44]them whether it's bad for them they don't care when we ask

[12:48]allah subhanahu ta'ala we have to know what we're asking we have

[12:51]to think about it allah says sometimes asks for asks for evil

[13:05]thinking they're asking for something good why because the insane is because

[13:10]the inside is so quick we want something right away we want

[13:15]it we want it right now that's it we're not going to

[13:17]wait we're not going to we're not willing to be patient sometimes

[13:21]allah subhanahu wa ta'ala tells me what you want what is better

[13:26]for you i know what's better for you just be patient just

[13:29]hold on some of us you see some people they do do

[13:42][Music] you are a millionaire but allah will give it to you

[13:50]throughout your whole life not at once you know there's a hadith

[13:53]that says that the sustenance that comes from allah comes like the

[14:00]rain drops and it does not pour down on a person imagine

[14:03]a flower and you pour a huge pitcher of water you dump

[14:07]a pitcher of water on the flower what's going to happen to

[14:10]the flower to die but if you give it at its time

[14:14]at the time that it needs you give it water it's going

[14:18]to become stronger it's going to become healthier it's going to survive

[14:22]this is the risk that comes from allah subhana wa knows this

[14:27]person is not going to die out of hunger allah knows this

[14:31]person is not going to be homeless of course some people probably

[14:33]they have other issues other reasons that they end up losing that

[14:37]but typically speaking the risk the sustenance that allah has promised for

[14:43]people allah has promised the destiny that was for you when you

[14:47]were in the womb of your mother when your mother didn't even

[14:49]know about you when no one knew about you the sustenance was

[14:53]coming to you through the blood and then through the milk and

[14:56]then through all of the ways that allah has been blessing you

[15:01]if you think god who has been blessing you for nine months

[15:03]in the womb of your mother is going to leave you right

[15:05]now of course not we just have to have faith in allah

[15:09]sometimes we want something very quick we're used to everything fast fast

[15:16]food fast internet everything we want it fast and we also sometimes

[15:19]want our dua to be fast but allah tells us no sometimes

[15:24]keep your trust in allah don't want something immediately because maybe that

[15:32]dua that i wanted that was delayed that is probably better for

[15:36]me because allah knows what's best for me that was delayed that

[15:55]thing that i wanted that was delayed and not given to me

[15:58]right away that's better for me because oh allah you know the

[16:05]endings you know what's better for us at the end i don't

[16:06]know what's going to happen tomorrow i don't know what's going to

[16:08]happen in a year from now allah knows all of that so

[16:14]therefore when allah is answering my dua when allah has given me

[16:17]and giving me what i want what i'm asking for allah knows

[16:21]what's best this is why it's best to surrender to allah now

[16:26]that doesn't mean we don't ask that doesn't mean we don't do

[16:29]dua because not doing a sign of arrogance we're supposed to do

[16:33]duha but we're supposed to tell allah allah give me what you

[16:39]believe is better for me give me what you want for me

[16:43]choose for me what is best for me and that is the

[16:47]best form of dua to ask to give you that which is

[16:54]best for you and allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is always around there's

[17:02]no in islam we don't have that you need to go for

[17:04]example you need to go to a church you need to go

[17:08]to masjid you need to go to a specific place to do

[17:11]god no you can do it anywhere and the distance between you

[17:17]and god is closer to anything than anyone and the trip the

[17:29]journey to allah is it's our actions that become a partition between

[17:54]us and between the dua that is being answered so if i

[17:59]want my dua to be answered i have to obey allah i

[18:03]have to obey allah follow the rules of allah because we know

[18:09]this in life when you're applying for a school you're applying for

[18:13]a job anything you do don't you have to follow instructions some

[18:17]people they want to ask allah without following the instructions you have

[18:26]to ask allah through the jab through the way of the dog

[18:30]so then the companion he asks the imam he tells him what

[18:33]is the jihad he tells him first of all you realize all

[18:38]of the blessings of allah upon you in order to ask allah

[18:43]you have to acknowledge what god has given you if i don't

[18:45]acknowledge what god has given me and i'm asking allah then what's

[18:50]the point of asking allah subhanahu ta'ala acknowledge what god has given

[18:55]you thank allah acknowledge your sins acknowledge that you have disobeyed allah

[19:02]subhanahu ta'ala do isaf for those sins and then he says then

[19:06]you do salawat upon muhammad s ta'ala then you ask allah for

[19:26]your hijab but that hajj that you're asking for has to be

[19:29]something that's in line with your beliefs allah is not going to

[19:34]answer a dua that's going to end up hurting someone or hurting

[19:38]yourself and there are specific duas that are in the quran there

[19:43]are the odds that are in the quran learn to ask allah

[19:48]from the way how the prophets ask allah that means you believe

[20:06]that god is limited you're limiting your hajj you're limiting your dua

[20:09]that means you're saying god is also limited don't limit your god

[20:12]say oh allah give me a good life be general allah give

[20:17]me a good life and a good afterlife us from our spouses

[20:36]and our progeny joy for our eyes oh allah forgive me and

[20:49]forgive my parents and have mercy on them just as they had

[20:52]mercy on me when i was young oh allah make me from

[21:02]those who uphold prayer this is a perfect dua because prayer is

[21:08]the tool the best tool to be connected with allah also my

[21:17]children don't only do the offer yourself dude your family your children

[21:21]your offspring will also be able to communicate with allah prayers in

[21:28]life is a language it's a language of communication if you want

[21:32]to empower your family if you want to empower your children you

[21:34]have to teach them that language the language that connects them with

[21:39]the one who is not limited any you talk to anyone you're

[21:44]talking to someone who's limited but when you're talking to allah you're

[21:47]talking with the unlimited you're talking to the most generous you're talking

[21:53]to me do not turn our hearts away after you have guided

[22:06]us when you when allah guides you that's the greatest gift that

[22:12]allah has given you ask allah to not take away that guidance

[22:14]this is why every day we have to ask allah for hidayah

[22:19]for guidance [Music] and of course in addition to the quran you

[22:30]have the duas of rasulullah you have the duas of the end

[22:36]of we just recited secret it's the intimate relationship that you build

[23:11]with allah subhanahu ta'ala in the middle of the night or when

[23:14]you're alone turn on this dog try to listen to it try

[23:18]to read it try to understand it and see the language of

[23:20]love that is used by the by amir al-mu'min with allah subhanahu

[23:27]wa ta'ala you have imam zainab he teaches us teaches in a

[23:38]society that does not have a moral compass in a society without

[23:44]manners without etiquette without principles he teaches us what the proper and

[24:15]one of the themes that you see in the duas of the

[24:21]bait and the duas of the prophets a lot of us when

[24:23]we think of dua we think of a selfish relationship oh let

[24:26]me ask god give me this give me that give me this

[24:29]we're only asking allah subhana tala but you could change the perspective

[24:33]and ask allah subhanahu ta'ala and the way the quran teaches us

[24:38]and the way the imams teach us where they teach us how

[24:41]to be not only a person who's only receiving but a person

[24:46]who's giving a person who's contributing ask allah to make you be

[24:49]a person who's contributing to society a person who's helping out others

[24:56]a person who is getting closer to allah a person who is

[25:00]a mubarak someone who is guided and guides others for example help

[25:13]me pray help me build a bond with you that's not a

[25:16]selfish dog some people say i feel like it's selfish if i'm

[25:21]asking allah no it's not selfish and especially if you're asking this

[25:24]type of ask allah to help you improve the relationship with and

[25:53]my days during the day and night be remembering you ask allah

[25:59]to bring you closer to him imam hussain he also has a

[26:06]beautiful dua the dua that he recited on the day of on

[26:30]there are so many distractions around us that distract us from you

[26:35]allow me to do something that will make me connected with you

[26:54]to you allah answered the dua of imam who's saying on the

[26:59]day of ashura allah answered the dua of imam hussain by having

[27:04]him be the one who makes the ultimate sacrifice for the sake

[27:07]of religion for the sake of islam and that sacrifice began on

[27:12]the days of raja the days of rajab were the days that

[27:16]imam hussain left madina that final journey the final time he left

[27:21]madinah and did not return was during the month of rajab when

[27:26]imam hussain received news that has passed away and he has ordered

[27:32]for his son yazid to be the khalifa of rasulullah after him

[27:38]and the governor of medina he summoned imam hussain he tells him

[27:44]you have to come and give bay to hazeed imam hussain on

[27:48]these days the days of rajab he made that decision on the

[27:52]days of rajab he launched that movement that lasted for about six

[27:56]months until the day of where he was killed but that movement

[28:04]began in the end of rajab where they called imam hussain and

[28:07]they tell him you have to give bay and the amount of

[28:11]hussain he made it clear that he cannot compare to a man

[28:13]like that's it first he tried to get out of it he

[28:18]tells them you want me to do bayha at night let's do

[28:21]that in front of people call me not they're in front of

[28:24]at night in secrecy what's the point of the bay on secrecy

[28:28]they tell them you have to give bail and the laws of

[28:43]the religion does not give sanctity to religion a man like me

[28:48]does not give way to a man like is he and he

[28:49]left but he goes to the grave of his grandfather and there

[28:58]he speaks to rasulullah and he tells him this is what has

[29:07]happened it's the year 60 after hijrah and the grandson of rasulullah

[29:24]his dream for i see that you will be killed in the

[29:37]land of allah and there you will make the ultimate sacrifice for

[29:40]the religion of islam so imam was saying he gathered his family

[29:47]he gathered his children and he left medina that last time going

[29:53]to mecca and then after during the month of the hijab we

[29:57]headed to iraq we asked allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to make us

[30:04]from those who follow in the footsteps of imam hussain al-assad blesses

[30:14]us in this life and blesses us in the afterlife this is

[30:18]how our dogs should be that will bring us foreign
