[0:09][Music] I begin in the name of the almighty God the compassionate

[0:26]the merciful the one who has created everything in most Perfection and

[0:33]May the peace and blessings of the almighty God be upon his

[0:36]pure and beloved messenger the peak of his creation the symbol of

[0:44]humanity the holy prophet Muhammad and his Immaculate progeny of the ah

[0:56]bit peace be upon them especially the leader of our time the

[1:01]awaited savior may Allah hasten his reappearance and make us all amongst

[1:09]his sincere and dedicated servants respected Scholars brothers and sisters Asam Allah

[1:23]subhah waala States in Surah lman of the Holy Quran verse 20

[1:47]do you not see that the almighty God has made available for

[1:54]you that which is in the heavens and on Earth that that

[2:01]which is in the universe the resources that God has given us

[2:05]in the universe do you not see how God has made these

[2:10]resources available to you and God has bestowed upon you abundantly His

[2:19]blessings those that are visible and invisible those that are apparent and

[2:27]inherent this beautiful verse in the Holy Quran draws our attention to

[2:36]very two important points the first one is that God has truly

[2:41]honored the human being God has Preferred the human being over all

[2:48]of his Creations in the religion of Islam we believe that God's

[2:52]greatest creation is the human being now you may wonder why what's

[2:57]special about the human being does he have any special physical biological

[3:04]features that makes him stand out from all other creations we know

[3:11]there are Creations out there who are physically stronger than us there

[3:16]are animals out there their sense of vision is stronger than us

[3:21]their hearing is stronger than us their sense of smell is stronger

[3:29]than us if you want to analyze us physically there are Creations

[3:32]out there who are better than us who have a greater physical

[3:39]capacity than us so what's so special about this human being that

[3:42]the almighty God says I have made the resources of the universe

[3:46]available to you why are we different than other creations what makes

[3:55]the human being different is the power of intellect that God has

[4:00]given him you can see right from wrong you can appreciate the

[4:05]existence of God you appreciate the beauty of this universe many of

[4:10]these other creations do not have this capacity and that is why

[4:16]we have traditions and hadiths from the prophet s and the that

[4:22]the greatest treasure God has created and his most beloved creation is

[4:28]the intellect now intellect is not intelligence normally we conflate the two

[4:37]we confuse between the two you can have someone with an IQ

[4:40]of 200 but this person can be very arrogant this can this

[4:47]person can be a dictator this person can be an evil person

[4:49]this person actually fails his intellect even though his intelligence is high

[4:55]there's a difference between intelligence and intellect and intelligence is when you're

[5:02]smart intellect is when you use your mental and rational capacity to

[5:10]do that which is right to please your lord to help people

[5:13]in your Society to live a good life and to prepare for

[5:19]the Hereafter that's the that's the intellect God has endowed the human

[5:22]being with the intellect therefore based on this aspect the human being

[5:29]is God's most beloved creation because the full intellect has been given

[5:35]to the human being that is the first point we take away

[5:40]from this verse the second point that we take away from this

[5:44]verse is that God has given us two types of blessings in

[5:50]Arabic means Bounty or blessing the first type of blessings are those

[5:56]visible apparent ones and the second type of blessing are those invisible

[6:04]inherent ones what's the difference between these two types of blessings that

[6:10]which is apparent and that which is inherent let's examine the T

[6:15]and the exegeses of this verse and then we'll delve a little

[6:18]bit deeper into some of the layers of this verse to see

[6:25]how in our era Allah has given us a great hidden BL

[6:30]blessing one of the T and explanations of this verse is that

[6:38]there are two types of blessings some you can see with your

[6:42]eyes your hands are a blessing you can see them they're tangible

[6:47]your eyes your ears your senses and then you also have intangible

[6:53]blessings blessings that you cannot see with your eyes such as your

[7:02]intellect such as your spiritual capacity such as your capacity to love

[7:07]can you go to any lab today and ask a scientist to

[7:12]show you love under the microscope it's not something that you can

[7:16]tangibly see or experience but you know that it exists because you

[7:24]feel it you experience it so that is one understanding of these

[7:28]two blessings God has given you so many types of blessings some

[7:31]of them you can see some of them you cannot see another

[7:37]dimension of this verse is one that is communicated to us in

[7:46]a Hadith attributed to prophet muham in this Hadith the prophet sallallah

[7:55]alai States the visible apparent blessing is the blessing of religion number

[8:06]one the blessing of creation God has given you these capacities in

[8:10]your body number two and the blessing of sustenance risk religion is

[8:14]a great blessing that God has given you imagine your lives my

[8:17]dear brothers and sisters without religion imagine your community without religion without

[8:24]the faith in God without spirituality we would be dead like a

[8:29]robot that has no life religion is actually what gives your heart

[8:37]life and our dear friend darl from Bedford United Church can attest

[8:43]to that can you imagine your church and your community without faith

[8:47]faith is actually what gives you life a heart without faith is

[8:55]a dead heart that's one apparent visible blessing Another Blessing is is

[9:02]how Allah created you your body your eyes your nose your mouth

[9:06]your features your fingers your fingertips your fingerprints this is truly the

[9:13]miracle of Allah subhah wa ta'ala he's created you in perfect form

[9:17]he's given you all the tools to live a successful life to

[9:20]manage your life to organize your life the third one is sustenance

[9:27]God has given you sustenance natural resources that you have access to

[9:31]these are all visible blessings so then what's the invisible blessing here

[9:36]according to this Hadith by the Prophet sallallahu alaihi The Invisible blessing

[9:42]is that God has concealed many of your faults mistakes and sins

[9:50]imagine when you go out there in society people know how many

[9:57]sins you've committed imagine if there was a number on our forehead

[10:01]6,783 cents for me you think I'd have the face to leave

[10:10]my house one of the names of God in Arabic is satar

[10:14]the one who excessively covers you protects you conceals your sins many

[10:20]times Allah subhana T conceals our sins imagine if you go out

[10:27]there in society and people actually see your intentions you know how

[10:31]you have those metal detectors at the airport imagine there's a detector

[10:34]that reveals and uncovers your intentions what you're thinking about others if

[10:39]you have Envy if you hate this person if you have negative

[10:43]thoughts about that person believe me we would not dare step outside

[10:48]of our rooms but God has concealed all of that because God

[10:52]is merciful god wants to give us endless chances to improve ourselves

[10:56]to be better and that is the trial of life so this

[11:02]is the invisible blessing that the almighty God has given you that

[11:06]he's really covered most of your sins only he knows of them

[11:12]of course the Angels who record our sins they're also aware of

[11:17]our sins but when you repent look at the mercy of Allah

[11:20]when a person repents in the month of Ramadan Ya Allah I've

[11:23]committed sins I've made mistakes I sincerely ask you to forgive me

[11:30]the Hadith States not only will God forgive you not only will

[11:34]he convert your sins into Good Deeds God will make the Angels

[11:37]forget that you actually committed that sin because if I've committed sins

[11:47]all my life the Angels view me unfavorably they have a very

[11:53]negative impression of me because they're with me 24/7 they know what

[11:59]I do with one sincere AC Act of repentance God wants to

[12:05]reclaim your reputation in front of who not the people in society

[12:09]in front of even the angels so that the angels Don't view

[12:15]you negatively and suddenly God causes them to forget all your sins

[12:19]they'll only remember your good deeds and so after 30 years of

[12:22]so many sins you repent suddenly the Angels see you as an

[12:28]angel now they see you as a person who has no history

[12:30]of sins that's the mercy of God because God wants to protect

[12:37]your reputation this is another type of blessing that Allah has given

[12:41]you but this is an invisible blessing it's an inherent blessing now

[12:45]let's take this deeper let's see what other types of visible and

[12:50]invisible blessings that we have according to a Hadith from Al IM

[12:55]he says an application of the visible bless in is Prophet Muhammad

[13:01]and the teachings that he brought and the application of the invisible

[13:11]inherent blessings is the of Al Muhammad peace be upon them the

[13:24]is an inherent blessing you have to make the effort to know

[13:32]who your imams are your leaders are to be inspired by their

[13:35]teachings that's an inherent blessing that Allah subhana wa taala has given

[13:39]you many Muslims today around the world they have abandoned the prophet's

[13:43]family they have abandoned the teachings of the prophet's family there is

[13:49]so much inspiration in the knowledge of our imams and the experience

[13:53]of of our imams you want spirituality after the prophet go to

[13:58]the imams of you want that pure just law go to them

[14:01]you want the knowledge of the Quran go to them you want

[14:05]psychology go to them you want economics go to them they have

[14:08]addressed every aspect of our lives in such a beautiful way that

[14:13]is a gift that Allah has given us but if it's it's

[14:14]a more it's more of a hidden gift you have to make

[14:18]the effort to go and KN who and know who these leaders

[14:21]are after The Prophet sallallahu alaihi now we take it to the

[14:28]final depth and this has to do with a blessing that we

[14:31]have in our era a hidden blessing according to a Hadith narrated

[14:35]in the book of Kamal by the IM sheds light on this

[14:44]verse that God has given you visible blessings and invisible blessings the

[14:49]Imam gives us a new application of this an application of the

[14:55]visible apparent blessings is an IM who is present and the application

[15:04]of the invisible blessing is an Imam who absent in occultation these

[15:12]are the two types of blessings that God has given us let's

[15:16]expand on this and see how we can benefit from a hidden

[15:21]Imam that God has appointed for us God has appointed many leaders

[15:25]for us throughout history prophet nisam he was a universal leader Prophet

[15:31]ibraim Prophet Moses Prophet Jesus all these great prophets of God they

[15:38]were leaders who lived in their society and people had physical access

[15:44]to them this is a blessing from God imagine imagine if today

[15:48]you had a divinely chosen leader whom you can go to for

[15:51]your problems to get solutions from imagine if Christians today would go

[15:58]to Jesus peace be upon him phys physically see him and ask

[16:01]him about the state of the world and what we can do

[16:04]to fix this world is this not a blessing that is a

[16:08]blessing when you have a leader who's physically present with you that's

[16:12]definitely a great blessing you can go to them you can ask

[16:15]them questions you just see them walk how they carry themselves you

[16:22]see their humbleness that fascinates you one scene that always strikes me

[16:27]about Prophet Isa am is that one day he washed the feet

[16:33]of his disciples who does that have you seen a teacher who

[16:36]washes the feet of his students who does that you're not willing

[16:43]to wash anyone's feet but Prophet Isam did that and they were

[16:48]shocked his when his disciples were shocked they told him oh spirit

[16:53]of God why are you washing our feet that's not appropriate he

[16:55]told them I am doing this so after me you will be

[17:01]humble with your people see how he's teaching them humbleness don't you

[17:05]wish you had a leader like that today at that caliber the

[17:09]caliber of prophet Moses the caliber of prophet Jesus to inspire us

[17:14]today we live in a world of materialism day and night our

[17:21]society lives on materialism our economy depends on consumerism every occasion that

[17:29]comes these big companies want you to spend and buy and spend

[17:32]even if you don't need it just go and spend go to

[17:36]the mall whatever you can get your hands on just spend as

[17:39]much as you can today the world needs the spirituality of a

[17:46]leader like Jesus because we've become very materialistic so having a leader

[17:52]present is a great blessing from Allah subhana wa ta'ala but then

[17:55]there is another type of blessing which is the invisible inherent one

[18:01]and that is the hidden IM the IM who's in occultation we

[18:09]in the school of we believe that there are 12 imams after

[18:14]the prophet sahu Al and even in Sunni books of Hadith the

[18:19]number 12 has been mentioned repeatedly all those 11 imams after Prophet

[18:25]Muhammad sallallahu alaihi Al were killed or assassinated or martyred every one

[18:31]of them IM Ali Alam was martyred in the month of Ramadan

[18:34]he was struck by the sword Imam Hussein was massacred in carala

[18:38]the other imams were poisoned why because they represented Justice the true

[18:46]men of God evil people hate them and they try to kill

[18:49]them Jesus peace be upon him right Christians believe that he was

[18:55]killed crucified we believe there was an attempt to crucify him someone

[18:59]else was crucified but there was that attempt to crucify him why

[19:03]what was Jesus doing for him to be crucified because he represented

[19:11]Justice when you represent Justice You're a threat to all those unjust

[19:16]ones out there who are stubborn and they reject your justice so

[19:20]these 11 imams one after the other they were killed God saved

[19:27]the 12th one the 12th one is the one whom we call

[19:29]IM Al the guided IM chosen by Allah subhanahu wa taala he

[19:36]is Al IM for 12 centuries now he's in occultation we don't

[19:40]have physical access to him he's present here on Earth but we

[19:44]don't have physical access to him in terms of seeing him physically

[19:48]speaking to him hearing his voice but he is a blessing the

[19:54]IM who's physically present is a is a blessing and the one

[20:00]who's in occultation is also a blessing today many people ask this

[20:04]questions how do I benefit from an IM whom I can't see

[20:09]if he's in occultation for for 12 centuries and at the end

[20:11]of times he is going to reappear with Prophet Jesus peace be

[20:14]upon him to bring Justice on Earth then what's the benefit of

[20:19]having him right now on Earth he's an occultation he's an absence

[20:21]I don't have access to him what is the point of such

[20:27]a leader I will share with you the Hadith of the Prophet

[20:31]Muhammad s alai in answering this question one day the prophet told

[20:38]his community his companions that the last of the imams is going

[20:44]to go in occultation jab abdah anari that great companion who was

[20:51]full of faith and he had an inquisitive mind he became intrigued

[20:55]by this concept of a hidden leader a leader in occultation so

[21:02]he asked the prophet sallallahu alai will his followers benefit from him

[21:08]when he's in the when he's in occultation what's the point of

[21:12]having a leader if people don't have physical access to him what

[21:17]was the famous response of the Prophet sallallah alai the prophet said

[21:22]yes I swear by Allah his followers will benefit from him and

[21:27]they will seek the life of his guidance and Authority just like

[21:33]people benefit from the Sun even though it's sheltered behind the clouds

[21:39]this is a beautiful analogy that the prophet gave us about a

[21:46]hidden leader which is the savior that we are waiting for the

[21:49]sun that's covered behind the clouds he gives us spectacular analysis of

[22:01]this Hadith how do we understand this Hadith here that the sun

[22:06]is sheltered behind the clouds and applying that to the Imam of

[22:09]our time how do you benefit from the Imam I will share

[22:13]with you how we can understand this Hadith from the prophet sallallahu

[22:16]alaih and apply it to the IM of our time that way

[22:20]you appreciate this blessing more that you can benefit from your Imam

[22:26]number one what is the role of the Sun in the solar

[22:29]system without the Sun what would happen to the planets orbiting around

[22:36]the sun the sun is the biggest mass in the solar system

[22:40]and so it has the greatest gravitational force it's the gravity of

[22:47]the Sun that keeps everything in perfect order in the universe that's

[22:51]the role of the sun without the Sun the universe would collapse

[23:00]represents the son through his presence through his blessings God keeps the

[23:07]universe in order why go back to where we started from what

[23:13]is the most beloved creation of God in the universe the intellect

[23:16]today who carries the full intellect see during the time of prophet

[23:21]mam he carried the full intellect Prophet Jesus peace be upon him

[23:26]in his era he carried the full intellect our beloved prophet in

[23:32]his era he carried the intellect in this era now who is

[23:36]that human being who embodies the full intellect who and we said

[23:48]that the intellect is the greatest creation of God so by default

[23:51]now you know who's the greatest creation of God on Earth today

[23:56]he is Al IM Ali because he carries that full intellect and

[24:00]the intellect that prophets have their power to see right from wrong

[24:07]is not matched to anything that we have one striking Hadith tells

[24:09]us that if you wanted to compare the intellect of prophet Muhammad

[24:13]sallallahu alai to the intellect of all of humanity all people living

[24:18]at that time the example is of the grains of sand imagine

[24:25]you have all the sand in the universe and you give someone

[24:32]a grain what is the proportion of that grain of sand to

[24:35]all the sand in the universe what one in a trillion that

[24:40]is the intellect of the prophets of God our intellect compared to

[24:45]their intellect is one in a trillion and that's why they're chosen

[24:50]by God that's the vision that they had that's why Jesus is

[24:55]the spirit of God you think it's a joke to be the

[24:59]spirit of God who can be the spirit of God God who's

[25:01]nothing but goodness who's the source of all goodness in the universe

[25:06]the source of all richness in the universe the source of all

[25:09]power in the universe and then for one of his creation to

[25:12]be his Spirit that's a big deal because he carries the full

[25:16]intellect so Al IM Ali carries the full intellect and by doing

[25:21]so he validates the existence of this universe and that's why we

[25:25]have hadiths that tell us if it weren't for the if it

[25:29]weren't for the proof proof of God completed in this intellect Earth

[25:31]would not exist it would cease to exist but the presence of

[25:40]that intellect to see right from wrong is what allows this universe

[25:43]to continue that's what allows planet Earth to continue otherwise you'd have

[25:49]bunch of Bloodshed and wars and Corruption on Earth without that power

[25:54]to do good what's the value of this Earth why would God

[25:57]allow it to continue it's the intellect that validates this existence so

[26:02]just like the sun holds the universe together the intellect of your

[26:10]IM and his presence on Earth holds this Earth together and Subhan

[26:14]Allah the prophet sallallahu alai in a very beautiful Hadith he said

[26:26]my family of the they represent the safety for the people of

[26:31]the earth just like the stars represent the safety in the universe

[26:35]because stars are those gravitational forces that hold their systems together and

[26:41]so it's the peace be upon them who hold the system of

[26:45]Earth together that's a blessing have you ever thanked God for this

[26:48]invisible inherent blessing and it is through this full intellect that Allah

[26:54]subhana wa ta'ala guides you many people say say but I can't

[26:56]see the IM I can't hear his voice if you connect spiritually

[27:01]to God and you connect spiritually to the IM of your time

[27:04]you benefit from him I'll give you an example what is the

[27:11]role of Satan Shan and in your tradition darl Lucifer right what's

[27:15]the role of Satan Lucifer what does he do he whispers to

[27:22]you to misguide you he encourages you to commit sin to commit

[27:26]evil now I have a question for you do you see Shan

[27:30]physically no maybe some devils here and there not in this community

[27:37]there are devils out there in the world but you don't see

[27:39]Satan physically but you as a Muslim who believes in the Quran

[27:44]you believe in the existence of Satan what does Satan do he

[27:50]misguides you but do you see him no do you hear his

[27:53]voice no Satan through an invisible platform Whispers to you Whispers to

[27:59]your heart as the Quran says Whispers to your chest sometimes you

[28:05]just get that urge to do wrong right that's Satan pushing you

[28:09]to do wrong you don't see Shan but you believe in his

[28:15]existence just like Shan represents evil and he whispers to you and

[28:21]misguides you IM because he carries the full intellect he is the

[28:26]source of guidance in the universe when whenever you open your heart

[28:30]you want guidance God guides you through Al IMI through the hidden

[28:35]IM this is a blessing that you ask Allah subhah wa ta'ala

[28:40]to bless you with thank Allah subhah wa ta'ala for this blessing

[28:49]that's one way of understanding the example of the Sun the second

[28:54]way of understanding the Hadith of the Prophet sallallah alai on a

[28:58]cloudy day and if you are going on a vacation what is

[29:03]one thing you want on your vacation the sun right you'll hate

[29:10]those cloudy days on a cloudy day you hope any minute the

[29:13]clouds will break and you get the sunlight during the occultation of

[29:17]the Imam the Believers constantly have the hope that at any moment

[29:23]God will bless them with the reappearance of their Imam Believers Never

[29:27]Lose That hope they all always hold on to that hope and

[29:30]they're optimistic and they're hopeful some people in this world are very

[29:34]pessimistic you think of the future you're pessimistic you think of the

[29:39]world that's going to unfold in two decades I know some people

[29:45]lose sleep at night because of this some people don't have children

[29:49]because of this you want me to have children for this ugly

[29:54]world look at what the world is coming to have hopes yes

[29:57]there's a a lot of corruption going on around the world but

[30:01]never lose hope just like you hope for the sun to shine

[30:08]on you from those clouds always have that hope that the spiritual

[30:12]son of Al IMI can shine on you at any moment that's

[30:18]another way of understanding the application of this Hadith the Third Way

[30:23]of understanding the application of this Hadith if you want to benefit

[30:29]from sunlight it depends on how much devices you have to benefit

[30:33]from the Sun and how much you allow yourself to be exposed

[30:38]to the sun if you go into a building with no windows

[30:40]you're not going to get any sunlight the more windows you have

[30:45]the more sunlight you have and those fancy pen houses they have

[30:48]all glass around right because you want that sunlight today you have

[30:52]solar technology solar power you can produce all this electricity from the

[30:56]Sun so the Sun is there it's shining it's always shining it's

[31:03]always giving you energy if you have the appropriate tools and devices

[31:08]you'll benefit from the Sun or you can lock yourself up in

[31:11]some Building without windows and not benefit from the Sun that's up

[31:16]to you similarly during the occultation of the more you open your

[31:22]window to the raise of his guidance the more you will be

[31:28]guided but you have to open that window that's another beautiful analogy

[31:33]about the sun and the Imam but truly the Imam of our

[31:40]time is a blessing you have an Imam connect with your IM

[31:44]on a daily basis you wake up in the morning thank Allah

[31:46]for this blessing and say oh Allah you've given me a leader

[31:50]an infallible leader who represents all prophets he is my savior today

[31:55]I will be a good soldier to my savior when I go

[31:59]to work I will not cheat anyone I will not defraud anyone

[32:01]I will not lie to anyone because I want to be a

[32:05]good soldier for my IM and the month of Ramadan is the

[32:10]best time to reflect on that my dear brothers and sisters and

[32:12]feel the Baraka and the blessings of your Imam we all have

[32:19]pain we all have suffering we all want Solutions one of the

[32:23]best solutions that God has given you is your connection with the

[32:27]Imam of our time you know how much hope he gives you

[32:29]how much positive energy he gives you today people one of their

[32:35]struggles is they feel insecure we spend billions of dollars on safety

[32:39]right keeping our society safe the biggest fear in any relationship is

[32:44]what there's no safety in that relationship I'll get backstabbed and betrayed

[32:49]in that relationship that's the biggest fear in relationships we all have

[32:57]feelings of insecurity one way Way by which Allah subhana wa ta'ala

[33:01]cures your feelings of insecurity is by giving you an infallible Imam

[33:06]who compassionate who cares about you he acknowledges you and you connect

[33:10]with him on a daily basis that eases your concerns you know

[33:16]you have an IM who's watchful who's watchful over you who's aware

[33:19]of what happens for you read Dua my dear brothers and sisters

[33:23]normally we read these supplications as a ritual read them with deep

[33:28]analysis [Music] can you show me words more beautiful than that you're

[33:39]saying oh Allah grant me the compassion of my IM IM Al

[33:46]Mahi grant me his love grant me his Dua grant me his

[33:47]Dua in the morning when you wake up you say my Imam

[33:51]today I want you to pray for me and if on that

[33:54]day your Imam prays for you that will be a beautiful day

[33:57]but he is truly the solution to our problems in Du which

[34:02]you write you recite every night in the month of Ramadan there's

[34:05]a beautiful passage that reminds you that all of our Solutions and

[34:09]problems God will solve them all of our problems Allah subhana T

[34:16]will solve them through the Savior through Al IM Ali the one

[34:21]passage that really affects me when I read du is the following

[34:28]oh Allah heal our hearts with the Imam of our time we

[34:34]all have pain in our hearts we all suffer all of you

[34:39]have pain could be a disease a family problem a financial struggle

[34:42]we all have pain don't lose hope connect to Allah subhah wa

[34:46]ta'ala connect to the IM of your time and Allah will heal

[34:51]your heart through Al IM and those who await their Imam who

[34:56]stay firm and work for justice preparing for their IM according to

[35:05]AI from IM they are the best of human beings throughout history

[35:09]IM in thisi he tells His companion Abu he speaks about the

[35:17]the occultation the end of times people who will go through the

[35:20]most difficult struggles but they hold on to their faith the Imam

[35:25]says those people God has given them so much intellect such that

[35:30]even though their IM is absent but they feel as their IM

[35:34]is present with them they are they are the best people throughout

[35:40]history because they have the highest level of patience and the highest

[35:45]level of intellect so our Imam is a blessing that we constantly

[35:50]need to thank Allah for now finally my dear brothers and sisters

[35:54]tonight after thear we will be celebrating the the birth of the

[35:58]grandson of prophet Muhammad s Alam the master of the Youth of

[36:08]paradise Al IM alassan he is also one of the Hidden blessings

[36:12]my dear brothers and sisters IM Hussein is IM Hussein is an
