[0:23]for the purification of the souls the enlightenment of the hearts the
[0:26]acceptance of the deeds and for the hastening of the reappear of
[0:31]the awaited Savior Enlighten your souls and the atmosphere with a recitation
[0:40]of salawat upon Muhammad Muhammad respected Elders sisters and brothers the 17th
[0:53]of the holy month of Ramadan a day like today marks an
[0:57]important event in Islamic history and one that most of us were
[1:03]raised in recognizing and understanding to a certain extent because it was
[1:08]in the second year after Hijra on the 17th of the Blessed
[1:11]holy month of Ramadan that the famous battle of bad took place
[1:17]a battle that was significant and pivotal within the history of the
[1:22]religion of Islam that shaped the future and has relevance to you
[1:25]and I in many shapes and many different ways we have always
[1:29]been told about bad and its importance as the first major victory
[1:38]for Muslims against polytheists but of course further investigation reveals that perhaps
[1:44]what we've been told about the Battle of B remains to be
[1:50]superficial something that requires a little bit more of an indepth look
[1:54]and an analysis I was blessed last month to to visit the
[2:01]site of the battle of badar it is situated approximately 153 km
[2:08]south west of Medina about 300 kilm from makkar and when I
[2:17]went there I for the first time in my life I was
[2:22]able to somehow imagine the battle right in front of me you
[2:26]see the problem is many people who go to omra and they
[2:29]go for Haj in Medina they are taken to important sites such
[2:34]as the site of the battle of they see the site of
[2:39]the battle of kand and they given a bit of a description
[2:41]which is great because many of times we need to link ourselves
[2:46]to history but bad because it's a bit far it takes about
[2:49]two hours out of Medina and until recently the authorities did not
[2:55]allow those on a om or Hajj visa to venture out of
[2:57]the city now you're able to do so for many people you
[3:01]are not necessarily exposing yourself to an in-depth analysis and a look
[3:06]as to exactly what happened but not only what happened in bad
[3:10]but also how did it take place and the repercussions of the
[3:16]battle because many times when you and I discuss the awaited Savior
[3:28]we are constantly told that are how many of his generals that
[3:34]we expect to be the best of the best the crem deem
[3:35]how many of them are they 313 these 313 occupy a p
[3:46]pivotal position in our teachings no doubt but how many times have
[3:50]we linked this number to a battle such as the Battle of
[3:52]bad because the number of Companions and the army of the Muslims
[3:57]on the day of bad without a shadow of a doubt according
[3:59]to majority of historians was what was 313 therefore there is a
[4:07]connection that can be drawn between the battle itself and indeed the
[4:13]future what I practically call the positive practical history PPH something that
[4:20]we need to develop in our lives what does that mean many
[4:25]of times when I look at an historical event when I study
[4:28]a past occurrence I look at it from a perspective of a
[4:34]narration that I enjoy understanding what happened before me but the Quran
[4:39]invites us to examine historical accounts from a different lens Allah discusses
[4:45]the lives of so many prophets how many prophets are discussed in
[4:50]the Quran how many how many prophets are mentioned by name in
[4:59]the Quran nearly 25 25 25 prophets are mentioned by name in
[5:06]the Holy Quran Allah when he tells us about Yu when he
[5:12]tells us about eunus ibraim mus when he tells us about the
[5:14]all these illustrious individuals it's not for you and I just to
[5:20]recite the Quran in the month of Ramadan and think wow mashallah
[5:22]these were amazing human beings they achieved so much Allah is asking
[5:26]us this question if you were in their shoes what Would You
[5:30]Do What are the challenges that they faced and today are you
[5:33]facing similar challenges so that's what's called the philosophy of religion that's
[5:37]what's called as positive practical historical analysis I need to look at
[5:42]history and I think you know what it is relevant to my
[5:46]life what are the important contemporary lessons that I can be drawing
[5:51]from this important event question what is the number one book for
[6:00]for the S of the holy prophet peace and blessings be upon
[6:03]him and his family someone was to come and tell you what
[6:08]is the number one book of history that I can learn the
[6:11]biography of s Al wasam which one is it what's the name
[6:17]of the number one book that we can learn history of the
[6:22]Prophet any ideas any recommendations of someone asks you I want to
[6:34]learn about history the number one book is the Holy Quran Allah
[6:38]subhah wa tala details the events of the life of the prophet
[6:44]of Islam in such a brilliant manner that most of us unfortunately
[6:48]we don't pay attention but the details relating the incidents such as
[6:52]bad such as H such as such as there is one chapter
[6:58]in the Quran that's named after a battle and that's chapter 33
[7:02]yet Allah mentions bad mentions H mentions not by name but through
[7:07]a number of ayat mentions a number of expeditions mentions a number
[7:11]of key points such as the conquest of Mecca fat mea which
[7:16]also happened in the month of Ramadan on the 20th of the
[7:17]month of Ramadan in the year 8 after Hijra incidentally just for
[7:22]your information and if there is a quiz sometimes in the future
[7:26]cahoot you can use this and that is what majority of the
[7:28]battles in the history of Islam at the time of the Prophet
[7:34]happened either in Shah Ramadan or in sha so happened in sha
[7:36]B in Ramadan H end of Ramadan conquest of Mecca Ramadan and
[7:44]why because Subhan Allah when you're fasting Allah is saying that you
[7:49]know you are going through the bigger Jihad I will make you
[7:55]go through the minor Jihad too because you have the strength to
[7:57]say no to your desires and that's the greatest struggle now you're
[8:00]going to have to go through what you're going to have to
[8:04]go through the minor struggle which is J so what is interesting
[8:07]is when I look at the history of bad I need to
[8:12]extrapolate these key things but from the Quran I'd like to tell
[8:14]you where you can find the story of bad in the Quran
[8:18]and the beauty of the Quran is doesn't limit the story to
[8:21]one Ayah or one Surah so according to my research there are
[8:26]49 verses in the Quran scattered all over the book that describe
[8:30]better where are they Surah Al Ayah 12 and 13 ay 77
[8:41]and 78 Surah Al Iman 123 to 127 andah majority of the
[8:46]story of bad is found in Surah anal Surah anal verse number
[8:50]one to verse number 19 verse number 36 to 51 and verse
[8:57]number 67 to 71 so what is interesting is that Allah subhana
[9:00]tala calls the battle ofan means what distinguishes H from what distinguish
[9:09]the truth from falsehood so the day of bad was a great
[9:12]day in which the truth emerged and most of us realize that
[9:18]many times in our battles or in any struggle in life if
[9:20]I'm Victorious from day one it sets me on a good beginning
[9:27]and both qur and the Muslim Army knew that victory in bad
[9:32]was absolutely necessary because it was the first time they're both confronting
[9:39]each other so I'd like to give you and I some background
[9:41]constantly refer to the Quran about bad but key to it is
[9:48]what does it mean to you and I today as we look
[9:52]at this important event in Islamic history as we go through it
[9:55]on the 17th of the holy month of Ramadan in order to
[9:58]understand the battle of we have to recognize thatr had two trips
[10:05]Caravans in order to obtain and Sell Trade Quran tells us in
[10:12]Surah qur they would go during two seasons which two seasons are
[10:22]they they would go during the summer and during the winter in
[10:29]the summer which city city did they used to go to any
[10:33]ideas which city did they used to go in the summer they
[10:38]used to go towards sham and in the winter they used to
[10:45]go towards Yemen so summer towards Syria winter towards the area of
[10:49]Yemen in order to buy products in order to sell items in
[10:51]Medina and in across the hij now the mush of meca what
[10:59]did they do when the Muslims left migrated towards Medina they started
[11:04]a campaign of hatred intimidation persecution they took away their belongings they
[11:10]started to torture them even more so Muslims who were in Medina
[11:14]heard about their families suffering in Mecca because there were still some
[11:17]Muslims who remained in Mecca or they had possessions that were usurped
[11:21]and taken away therefore and received the Revelation Surah Ayah number 39
[11:44]Allah subana wa tal said to the holy prophet you and the
[11:49]Muslims are going through oppression now you have permission to fight back
[11:55]now you can go so the prophet of Islam decided to raid
[11:58]certain Caravan FS of qur that were moving during the summer towards
[12:09]which area sham so he decided to send a group of Muslims
[12:12]to interject some of these Tri uh Caravans of quray now someone
[12:16]will ask is that correct is that possible why should the prophet
[12:21]attack it wasn't the Muslims who attacked it was the qur who
[12:27]are what causing oppression against the Muslims because Allah subh here quantifies
[12:31]and says you are now allowed to fight why because you're going
[12:37]through you're going through oppression your belongings your people are subject to
[12:43]Injustice therefore the prophet of Islam decided that this had to be
[12:47]done and so what happened was that there was a caravan of
[12:49]qur headed by Abu sufyan and this particular Caravan was interesting because
[12:57]there were about 40 50 or 70 people with Abu sufyan and
[13:04]it had thousands of worth of what of Commodities din so was
[13:10]a very rich Caravan and the prophet of Islam decided that that
[13:15]Caravan has to be attacked ransacked and the belongings taken in compensation
[13:20]for what qur was doing in Mecca but what happened to Abu
[13:27]sufyan was that when he was in sham yes he was smart
[13:35]enough to investigate to try and ask did you see people watching
[13:39]our Caravan he would say to people and he would give them
[13:43]money until two people told him yes we to we saw two
[13:46]unusual individuals unusual meaning that they were not usually from this area
[13:51]constantly watching your Caravan he immediately realized that Muslims are going to
[13:57]attack so he changed his path instead going on the conventional route
[14:01]back to Mecca he took a different route in order to avoid
[14:07]his Caravan being attacked but what did he do he sent a
[14:12]messenger to Mecca and said to the messenger tell the qur Muslims
[14:17]are coming they're going to attack my Caravan come and help me
[14:22]in Mecca safah ABD mutalib who knows who safia is how she
[14:33]related to the prophet safia any ideas Auntie her sister Isa they
[14:42]are both Daughters of ABD mutalib yes and therefore they are sisters
[14:48]of Abdullah and Abu Talib yes and others now and Hamza so
[14:51]what happened was that she saw a dream in Mecca what was
[14:58]her dream she saw that a man somehow stood up on the
[15:01]mountain of ABI KU took a piece of rock and Scattered it
[15:08]on every houseold in Mecca and screamed so when she woke up
[15:13]she was shaken so she said to people like Abu J and
[15:17]others she said to him that I saw this dream Abu jahal
[15:23]said this is you are one of the prophets of Abdul mutalib
[15:25]this is your the second prophet mocking her but he said we'll
[15:29]wait for 3 days if nothing happens then I will declare you
[15:33]and all of Beni Hashim as the biggest Liars after 3 days
[15:38]of her seeing this dream what happened this man came who is
[15:41]this man the messenger of Abu sufyan says to quray in Mecca
[15:48]notice the army of Muslims are going to attack this Caravan you
[15:52]need to prepare yourselves Abu jahal who is the arch coordinator of
[15:56]the army of qur decid deed to assemble a huge Army of
[16:03]a thousand soldiers and these thousand Soldiers by the way were not
[16:07]all on foot according to historical records many of them were had
[16:15]Cavalry such as Horses and camels how many specifically there were 700
[16:18]camels and there were 100 horses this is significant I'm giving you
[16:24]details why you'll see how the army of Muslims was significantly disadvantaged
[16:28]more than the army of the non-believers the poths of qur because
[16:33]the army of Muslims later would have only a handful of camels
[16:37]and horses that's it whereas the army of qur had hundreds so
[16:42]when he prepares this Army the holy prophet in Medina he gathers
[16:51]the Muslims Allah subhah wa ta'ala reveals to him these ayat in
[17:04]Allah is telling you leave Medina now and it is the truth
[17:13]you must leave Medina so the prophet of Islam gathers the sahab
[17:17]please understand this this is agreed by Sunni and sh this is
[17:21]an academic discussion I'm not bashing anyone this is agreed by all
[17:26]Muslims yes as far as my research is concerned from different historical
[17:29]text when the prophet looked at the Companions and said the qur
[17:35]is now assembling a huge Army we are going to go and
[17:39]fight them what do you say what do you think the first
[17:44]khif Abu Bakr stood up and said sorry we're not fighting is
[17:52]too big it's going to defeat us we can't they're huge in
[17:55]Number the prophet said ous sit down the second second person who
[18:01]stood up usually after the first cuz after number one comes number
[18:04]two usually and that's the second khif who stood up said exactly
[18:06]the same as the first that you know we cannot defeat qur
[18:12]they're too many the prophet said sit down the third individual who
[18:16]stood up was who was one of the companions of the Prophet
[18:21]but also close to said to him you command us and you
[18:32]tell us what to do whatever you say we will do we
[18:34]will not say to you what Ben said to we will not
[18:44]say to you what they said that you oh mus go and
[18:48]fight we will sit here we will say to you we will
[18:55]fight with you the prophet smiled according to the he was so
[19:02]happy with the answer of MD then he looked at the head
[19:05]of the tribe of K and said what do you say he
[19:11]also stood up and said we gave you Allegiance we gave you
[19:14]we will fight with you whatever you say we will follow and
[19:20]so now the Muslim Army was ready how many were they as
[19:25]we said 313 they left Medina around the day of 13 or
[19:32]14 of the month of Ramadan and they headed towards this particular
[19:37]area now what is interesting is once the companions had agreed about
[19:44]the prophet moving the prophet of Islam said something beautiful to them
[19:51]just one important contemporary lesson here please focus on this and that
[19:56]is the holy prophet of God did not have to consult them
[19:59]Allah did not have to ask them he could have just commanded
[20:04]them and said everyone goes yet it was number one the great
[20:07]leadership skills of the brilliant and the best who wanted to ensure
[20:15]that his army are fully aware of what's going on number one
[20:18]number two they feel part of the plan they feel that they're
[20:23]not just necessarily being led but they're being consulted and advised and
[20:26]that was a brilliant method used by the holy prophet of Islam
[20:33]he would consult and that's a lesson for all leaders all people
[20:38]in places of authority and those who are in charge and that
[20:40]is it's okay to lead it's okay to tell people what to
[20:45]do but it's also very much advised to sometimes sit with the
[20:48]people and ask them what do you think consult with them discuss
[20:53]with them take their opinions and the prophet of Islam would show
[20:57]and display remark able leadership qualities when they were about to leave
[21:03]the prophet said that Allah subhah wa ta'ala has promised me either
[21:11]Victory against or we would get that Caravan one of them and
[21:19]Subhan Allah you know when I was studying bad I was constantly
[21:24]linking it TOA you know on that night the eve of when
[21:30]he said to his sahab go you are now free from my
[21:34]allegiance you don't need to stay they said how can we leave
[21:39]you how can we desert you how can we be disloyal to
[21:42]you then according to rat he showed them their place in J
[21:46]when they passed the test when they were loyal and firm on
[21:49]the path Imam would give them these Glad Tidings now as they
[21:57]continued their Journey towards better they only had a few camels according
[22:02]to narrations what they had to do majority of them walk and
[22:07]then they would share the camel so three or four would sit
[22:10]on a camel right and uh they would for example come down
[22:14]and so on the prophet peace be upon him man his family
[22:17]did the same so they said to him Yol Allah you are
[22:22]the messenger of Allah you need to be on a horse or
[22:26]a camel all the time you can't be walking the prophet refused
[22:28]he he said to them you are not stronger than me neither
[22:36]are you more desperate for reward than I am meaning that I
[22:43]want reward as well with it comes struggle with it comes sacrifice
[22:45]so he led by example the prophet didn't say you know what
[22:47]I'm going to chill with my Ferrari you know I'm going to
[22:53]sit and I'm going to be you know taken and you guys
[22:57]walk no he was with them he felt their pain he felt
[23:00]their suffering now when Abu sufyan heard that there was a big
[23:09]army headed by Abu jahal heading towards bad that area towards Medina
[23:13]he decided to send a message to say forget fighting Muslims we
[23:17]don't want to do this this is not right so he sent
[23:21]a message to Abu jahal and the army of quray and said
[23:23]where was he he was still with the Caravan remember he was
[23:27]still trying to come back from sham right and he said I
[23:32]don't want to fight let's just go back Abu jahal refused Abu
[23:37]Jal insisted and said no we will go towards bad Muslims when
[23:44]they reached this particular site what happened Quran tells us inah anal
[23:50]and time doesn't allow to go into details of the ayat but
[23:53]beautifully Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala so meticulously so precisely tells us where
[23:59]they sat and where they were positioned in the battle itself exactly
[24:03]where the Muslims were and where the polytheus were and they were
[24:10]somehow in a land that they could see the polytheists a bit
[24:13]bit higher than them right but the Muslims when they reached they
[24:18]could not see the polytheus who were coming and so the prophet
[24:24]of Islam went and sent sent with a few others to scout
[24:26]try and find out how many of these mush were there and
[24:31]they captured a number of slaves who had come to drink water
[24:33]from the well there was a well there that the Muslims eventually
[24:37]captured I saw the well when I went to bad last month
[24:41]it's still there but now it's full of rocks by the way
[24:46]do you know what they did in that well when the Muslims
[24:48]defeated the polytheist in bad they threw the bodies of the 70
[24:54]mus in the well and the well is still there right but
[24:57]there's no water in it so when he captures those slaves he
[25:01]brings them and the prophet asks him how many mus are there
[25:06]they said we don't know he says don't you know how many
[25:09]people no he said okay tell me what do they eat he
[25:15]said we slaughter a a camel every day how many camels yes
[25:21]we Slaughter nine to feed the people so the prophet said there
[25:26]are 900 to a th000 because every camel feeds 100 people so
[25:31]brilliant mathematicians as well he would calculate that the numbers were what
[25:36]around a thousand through how many camels they would Slaughter what happened
[25:42]was though now it was the 16th of Ramadan a day before
[25:48]the battle the Muslims felt incredibly tired and sleepy Allah says in
[25:53]the Quran they felt very tired Allah subhah wa ta'ala says as
[26:03]a result of you being tired and sleepy Allah sent much rain
[26:10]so the skies became cloudy the rain became to pour heavily but
[26:14]the position where the Muslims were actually was brilliant why because they
[26:19]were in such a state that the water they benefit from but
[26:22]it didn't impact the ground why I saw it last month there
[26:28]was a number of Hills that were Sandy in nature they were
[26:34]like golden sand right and according to rat it's the ones that
[26:38]the Mala descended the Mala they descended on the day of bad
[26:42]I saw a in that says when the Mala thousands of them
[26:47]descended on this mountain to support the Muslims they resembled they looked
[26:57]like one of the mercies of Allah subhana wa tala is that
[27:05]he sent them rain so that they can do they can do
[27:10]and also help them when it comes to not being sleepy because
[27:13]how many people could sleep when it's raining right so they were
[27:19]benefiting from the water the qur the Army had arrived now their
[27:22]area where they were positioned were full of Puddles and they struggled
[27:26]because the water was pooling up for them the water was actually
[27:31]detrimental for them now that night was not an easy night for
[27:38]Muslims you know why because they knew they were outnumbered by three
[27:42]they knew that the qur were more vast in their capabilities and
[27:49]it was the first time they would encounter a battle under Islam
[27:52]and under the holy prophet of Islam yet this is an important
[27:55]lesson my dear sisters and brothers W please if you switch off
[28:00]for the last 20 minutes 25 minutes just switch on back for
[28:03]the next 2 seconds today many of times when we are in
[28:08]a battle against many corrupt thoughts ideologies many actions that we consider
[28:12]to me immoral and against the religion of Islam and other religions
[28:17]like for example the RIS in lgbtq plus plus Plus+ plus yes
[28:20]when we are facing this some people say forget it we are
[28:27]weak we are low in number we cannot achieve much yes they
[28:30]will normalize and they will push this agenda through our schools and
[28:36]our kids and TV and Hollywood and so everything it's there social
[28:40]media what can we do that's it we accept that night also
[28:45]resembled the eve of carala why and it resembled another story in
[28:50]the Quran and that is talut talut yes who is the king
[28:56]of B Isel was fighting which arrogant King at that time anyone
[29:01]tell me jalut in English he was Goliath right so Quran says
[29:09]how many of them we with talut what's the number anyone know
[29:14]how many people were with this King tal that Allah sent to
[29:17]help B is kill jalut and the prophet who was with talut
[29:26]how many of them were there 313 Subhan Allah 313 notice the
[29:33]number notice the reoccurrence yes but that night was very difficult so
[29:37]some of the Muslims were concerned some of them were scared but
[29:41]here comes the powerful leadership of the greatest and the choicest and
[29:45]the best the holy prophet sallallahu alaihi Ali wasallam would reassure them
[29:50]the prophet of Islam would come to them and give them as
[29:55]much positivity and hope that you know the they are with him
[29:59]that Allah is with them and the verses of the Quran would
[30:04]strengthen their resolve and determination and their commitment and that's why if
[30:10]we look at the Quran we see it's incredible how Allah subhana
[30:14]wa tala says if you and I truly believe in him we
[30:17]should never be shaken Allah says never be fearful never be frightened
[30:27]or what saddened about the past or the future you are superior
[30:32]if you're truly Believers you are actually Superior because you have Allah
[30:39]with you now interestingly the Quran says Allah says in verse number
[30:53]10 is what you were scared but Allah gave you that strength
[30:56]of the heart which sometimes we need that heart hope that optimism
[30:59]it all comes from him subhana wa tala but through holy individuals
[31:03]like the and that's how the role of the holy prophet of
[31:09]Islam and was so powerful on the day of bad and that's
[31:14]why on Friday 17th of Ramadan year two after Hijra the prophet
[31:22]of Islam demonstrated His Brilliant military expertise he knew that there were
[31:32]700 on camels he knew there were 100 on horses but the
[31:36]Muslims were what all on the ground and you and I know
[31:41]you've seen enough movies right where if somebody's riding a camel or
[31:44]a horse they have an advantage over somebody who is on the
[31:49]ground they can easily strike them much easier right so what did
[31:52]the prophet do most of us have seen the film The Message
[31:56]film grown up with it right I think the generation doesn't watch
[31:59]these kind of films sadly but I remember when I was a
[32:03]child there was no Netflix no internet no insta alhamdulillah all we
[32:08]were watching is the message and we grew up watching that film
[32:11]the message yes how many of the youngsters have actually watched the
[32:14]film the message I don't think so because it was made in
[32:18]the 70s and people think it's old but it was really inspirational
[32:21]for most of us because many of the content although some were
[32:26]disputed but our in Lebanon approved it the Shia anyway so the
[32:31]prophet first lined up a group of men like Salah two rows
[32:37]the first row were the people with Spears and long sticks and
[32:40]the second row were the archers so they were not at the
[32:45]beginning so the mush did not see the archers so the moment
[32:48]they were about to charge the ones with the spears were able
[32:53]to push them and the ones with the archers came out and
[32:58]and what and struck them with their bows and their arrows but
[33:02]of course before that what happened was the confrontation and the confrontation
[33:08]resulted after the prophet of Islam peace be upon him and his
[33:13]family made the supplication you know if you study B you'll find
[33:15]that there was many duas many times the prophet would perform this
[33:19]supplication to ask Allah one of them he said Allah Allah this
[33:31]ISR coming with its arrogance with its Cavalry trying to deny your
[33:35]Prophet Allah Ya Allah I want the victory youve promised me that
[33:43]moment qur come up with three individuals they were and now is
[33:48]the father of hind hind the wife of Abu sufyan and of
[33:55]course she had her brother as well Alit now these two came
[34:01]shba is the brother ofba so the father of hind the uncle
[34:04]of Hind and the brother of hind all three came up the
[34:09]first three individuals that volunteered to come up were individuals that were
[34:13]not necessarily known at that time they're called Ma and Ma and
[34:17]Ma and another person they said no we don't want to fight
[34:21]them we want people who we recognize the prophet of Islam once
[34:25]again an important practical lesson sisters and brothers if you and I
[35:27]on the chest of he put his head on the chest andir
[35:33]struck him and when these two were dead unfortunately the third individual
[35:39]was already injured was already injured by sh with Hamza they go
[35:44]and kill him now when these three enemies of Allah are killed
[35:47]in the battlefield this was a tremendous psychological boost for Muslims there
[35:53]is a cries of allahar but now Abu jahal says by God
[36:00]by I will not let Beni Hashim and these Muslims Victorious charge
[36:05]on them he said don't kill the muhajirin kill the ansar muhajirin
[36:11]captur them he was so arrogant Abu jahal interestingly Abu jahal was
[36:16]somebody who eventually was killed in the Battle of B itself and
[36:23]the person who killed him was who Abdullah Mas who used to
[36:25]be his slave and he was the one who finished him yes
[36:30]now when they charged towards the Muslims the prophet of Islam was
[36:34]where when I was in bad last month there's a mosque known
[36:41]as M anyone know what is in Arabic the Arabs amongst you
[36:47]know what Anish is there is a there is a clue in
[36:49]the word comes from so is a place where a leader of
[37:01]an army sits and watches the battle right so they say the
[37:04]prophet had a spot where he sat and he watched the battle
[37:09]and that's why they built a mosque some of our like who's
[37:14]written this colossal over 40 volume he says it's nonsense he says
[37:24]the prophet wouldn't sit and watch because we have rat that says
[37:27]that the the prophet was fighting with the Muslims and that Amir
[37:32]very very clearly says how the prophet was so courageous in the
[37:38]battle itself yes we in the says that he was fighting in
[37:46]the most tremendous of ways yes and so it's unlikely that the
[37:50]prophet of Islam had a throne or something to oversee and just
[37:54]watch and this mosque probably was where the prophet resided as far
[38:00]as his tent is concerned as far as where he used to
[38:02]stay not Overlook the particular battle and not take part in it
[38:12]at all now in this battle 70 of the qur are killed
[38:15]how many Muslims are mared these are important facts many times we've
[38:24]learned about bad but I need you to walk out today experts
[38:27]as much as possible about this battle how many were killed 14
[38:30]some say 17 but I saw the name of 14 people they're
[38:36]made in a plaque outside the cemetery in bad and they included
[38:41]some of those individuals who gave their lives in that particular battle
[38:46]amongst those who were killed of the mushin was the brother of
[38:51]Khadijah by the name of no the prophet hated him because he
[38:59]used to instigate people against Islam who killed noal the brother of
[39:05]Khadijah by the command of the Prophet was Amir killed him and
[39:09]the prophet prayed for him and said because he had sent a
[39:17]on him now very interestingly according to many rat half of those
[39:21]killed in the Battle of bad were killed by none other than
[39:25]the commander of the faithful some say even more 3640 and interestingly
[39:39]The Rat Say when he killed half the other half he helped
[39:43]in The Killing as well so not only half was responsible for
[39:50]but also he help the other Muslims now did the Mala fight
[39:56]or not this is an important question Allah subhana tala in the
[39:59]Quran says I'm sending you at least a Thousand Angels did they
[40:08]fight it's unlikely why number one the Quran says they were sent
[40:13]number two if they did then what's the point for the Muslims
[40:19]to get virtue the Muslims to be praised if the Mala killed
[40:21]the this Believers then why are Muslims celebrated and congratulated by Allah
[40:26]they did nothing and if the Mala were there killing the polytheists
[40:31]then how can kill half of them and help with the others
[40:34]so the Mala that came down on the mount they were not
[40:39]necessarily fighting in the battlefield they were giving Muslims strength can they
[40:43]give you an I Strength 100% can they boost our self-esteem 100%
[40:50]And this is where sometimes when we feel low we need to
[40:53]ask Allah subhana and hold on strongly to him and to the
[40:58]and you will see that happening finally my dear sister Brothers what
[41:03]happened afterwards the booties were collected there was a a dispute between
[41:09]the elders and the youngsters youngsters took all the booties of War
[41:12]The Spoils of War the elders excuse me what about us Allah
[41:15]revealed the first Ayah of and means SPS of War Allah uses
[41:30]this example to say correct and make up the relationship between those
[41:36]of your relatives that yes those that are relatives and those that
[41:42]you have disconnected from you're not speaking to you have somehow now
[41:48]don't wish to have any connection with them or relationship with them
[41:51]Subhan Allah that's a lesson from the Battle of bad that Allah
[41:54]subhana tala says it is important when it comes to these matters
[42:01]after Victory don't let the Tha be lost and cause fitner and
[42:04]problems what do we mean sometimes immediately after the month of Ramadan
[42:07]we go back into our habits how do I know Allah has
[42:11]accepted my fast how do I know the month of Ramadan has
[42:15]been successful for me it's whether I am a better person after
[42:18]Shah Ramadan not during it the test is after on the first
[42:20]of sha am I a better human being or not if I
[42:25]am then that means I'm on the progress towards its acceptance the
[42:30]prisoners were then taken how many prisoners according to rat 70 these
[42:38]70 prisoners look at the mercy of the Prophet according to rat
[42:40]he stayed up at night couldn't sleep because he said maybe they're
[42:44]uncomfortable the ropes around their hands are uncomfortable so he asked for
[42:48]it to be loosened although most of them were disbelievers and those
[42:54]who fought the Islam and hurt the Muslims then he opened up
[42:57]a an opportunity for them anyone who teaches 10 Muslims how to
[43:00]read and write can be can then be freed anyone who wants
[43:04]to purchase their freedom can be freed and including those who did
[43:10]not who helped the Muslims in the of Abu Talib in Mecca
[43:12]in the sanctions were also freed and some of them were just
[43:14]freed just like that they were not tortured they were not degraded
[43:20]they were respected and so respected in the sense that they were
[43:24]not harmed the other thing that happened and the final point that
[43:26]I'd like to mention which is very very important and that isala
[43:31]and bad I alluded to it already but the hatred due to
[43:37]the Battle of bad was the main one of the main reasons
[43:42]According to some historical records that Cara's tragedy was pushed and perpetrated
[43:51]this ya mu what did he do when he had the head
[43:56]of and he was poking the head did you know what he
[44:03]said I wish my fourfathers in bad can see what I'm doing
[44:09]now excuse me what's abdah Hussein got to do with bad if
[44:14]you think about it it's got a lot to do with B
[44:15]yes he says later he says I'm not from this tribe except
[44:24]that I seek Vengeance from Ali muhamad the family of Ahmed because
[44:31]of what they did in bad mechans when they returned for whole
[44:34]month they were in mourning you know a sign of people being
[44:37]in mourning in jalah is that women they loosen their hair and
[44:44]they don't tie it right and they were in a State of
[44:52]Shock they were absolutely rattled to the ground and they vowed Vengeance
[44:58]and the hatred remained in their heart mainly to whom to Al
[45:03]anyone associated with Ali so they said Ali was the perpetrator of
[45:08]bad by the way today if you look at historical works just
[45:14]like for example H just like they will take away the of
[45:19]Ali as much as possible that was part of the plan that
[45:22]was part of Ben Oma's orchestrated agenda in order to distort historical
[45:28]of the commander of the faithful and that's why the thir said
[45:33]to he said to him said to qur will never ever respect
[45:45]you because you killed 70 of them on the day of bad
[45:50]and you can recognize the repercussions of this particular event that had
[45:57]what longlasting impacts on Islamic history and the final thing I'd like
[46:01]to remind myself and my dear sisters and brothers in this particular
[46:05]regard is that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala wants you and I when
[46:12]we remember the Battle of bad to recall and to establish that
[46:15]once a group of individuals who are believers but also obey Allah
[46:21]and his messenger this idea that we are individuals who are supposed
[46:31]to obey not go by what we think and incidentally what happened
[46:36]a year or so later in exactly one thing didn't happen that
[46:43]happened in bad and that's obedience to Allah and the messenger and
[46:48]therefore the Muslims were defeated that's one major reason today if we
[46:57]think we can interpret Islam if we think we can practice Islam
[47:00]the way we like then unfortunately that falls under the category of
[47:05]those who are not obeying Allah and his messenger today if we
[47:10]say that you know what I don't like this particular command of
[47:12]Allah or I don't believe in this or I'd like to practice
[47:15]in this way my way what's comfortable for me am I not
[47:23]doing what certain individuals did in and certainly I'm not doing what
[47:27]those with the the prophet did in B The Obedience the unreserved
[47:30]uncat the categorical obedience to the holy prophet of Islam and of
[47:38]course Allah subhana is the recipe for success
