[0:11]part 8 section 70 taking and giving a person who prefers taking
[0:18]to giving is deluded because in his heedlessness he thinks that what
[0:22]is Now is better than what is to come it behooves the
[0:26]believer when he takes something that he should take it rightfully if
[0:30]he gives it should be for a right purpose in a right
[0:34]way and from his rightful possessions how many a taker gives up
[0:37]his faith but he's not aware of that how many a giver
[0:39]brings down on himself the wrath of Allah the matter is not
[0:45]just a question of taking and giving however rather he is saved
[0:48]who fears Allah when taking and giving and who holds tight to
[0:53]the Rope of righteousness in this regard people are of two types
[0:56]the elite and the common the elite considers with painstaking caution and
[1:01]does not take until he's certain that it is permissible if it
[1:05]is unclear to him he will only take when it is absolutely
[1:08]necessary the Common Man considers only the outward form he takes whatever
[1:15]he does not find to be stolen or extorted and says there's
[1:17]no harm in this it is permissible for me here the matter
[1:23]is clear and he takes it by the Judgment of Almighty Allah
[1:25]and spends it in his pleasure section 71 Brotherhood three things are
[1:31]rare in every age Brotherhood in Allah a devout affectionate wife who
[1:35]helps you in Allah's faith and a rightly guided son whoever finds
[1:41]these three things has obtained the good of both abodes and the
[1:45]fullest portion of this world and the next beware of taking someone
[1:49]as a brother when you're moved by greed fear inclination money food
[1:56]or drink seek the fraternity of the Allah fearing even to the
[1:59]ends of the Earth and even if you spend your entire life
[2:02]seeking them Allah has not left anyone better than them after the
[2:08]prophets peace be upon them on the face of the Earth nor
[2:10]has he given a bondsman any blessing like that of success in
[2:16]finding their company Allah said the friends shall on that day be
[2:20]enemies to one another except those who guard against evil in chapter
[2:23]43 Verse 67 I believe that anyone who looks for a friend
[2:27]without fault in these times will remain without a friend do you
[2:31]not see that the first Mark of Honor which Allah bestowed on
[2:33]His prophets when their call to faith became known was a trusty
[2:39]friend or helper similarly the most Sublime gift which Allah bestowed on
[2:44]his friends supporters aah pure friends and trustees was the company of
[2:49]His prophets this is proof that after knowledge of Allah there is
[2:53]no blessing in either Abode which is more Sublime more excellent or
[2:56]more pure than the company in Allah and Brotherhood for his sake
[3:03]section 72 consultation take counsel in the matters Faith demands of you
[3:08]with one who has the following five qualities intellect knowledge experience Good
[3:14]Counsel and precaution if you find these five things in a person
[3:18]then make use of them be Resolute and rely on Allah this
[3:23]will lead you to what is correct as for matters of this
[3:26]world which do not pertain to Faith make decisions about them and
[3:29]then do not think about them further if you do this you
[3:33]will obtain the blessings of livelihood and the sweetness of obedience knowledge
[3:38]is obtained through consultation the man of intellect is he who derives
[3:43]new Knowledge from consultation and that guides him to obtain his goal
[3:48]Consulting a proper counselor is like reflecting upon the creation of the
[3:51]heavens and the earth and the destruction of both since the more
[3:55]intense a person's reflection upon these two things the deeper he penetrates
[3:58]into the Seas of the light of nosis and the more he
[4:03]increases his understanding and certainty do not take counsel from someone when
[4:07]your intellect does not give him any Credence even if he's famous
[4:10]for his discernment and scrupulousness when you take counsel from someone your
[4:15]heart trusts do not disagree with what he advises even if it
[4:18]is contrary to what you want surely the self combines both acceptance
[4:24]of the truth with what is opposed to it that is on
[4:26]receiving other truths which are clearer to him Allah has said take
[4:31]counsel with them in the affair in chapter 3: 159 and again
[4:37]their rule is to take counsel among themselves in chapter 42:38 that
[4:43]is they consult each other about it section 73 forbearance forbearance is
[4:48]a lamp of Allah which leads the holder to his Excellence a
[4:52]person cannot be forbearing unless he's aided by the lights of noses
[4:58]and toed forbearance has five facets when a man man is exalted
[5:01]but is then humbled when he's truthful he's accused of being a
[5:04]liar when he calls people to the truth he is scorned when
[5:10]he is injured without having done any crime and when he demands
[5:13]his rights and they oppose him when you have given each of
[5:18]these its due you have achieved the goal when you have countered
[5:21]the half wit by turning away from him and not answering him
[5:25]people will come to your aid for He Who wages war with
[5:29]the fool is like a man who puts wood on the fire
[5:34]the holy prophet sallallah alai said the believer is like the Earth
[5:38]people obtain benefits from it while they are on it whoever cannot
[5:41]endure people's harsh rudeness will not reach Allah's good pleasure because his
[5:46]pleasure is closely linked with people's antipathy it is related that a
[5:52]man said to you are causing me to worry I will forbear
[5:55]with you he replied the messenger of Allah sallallah alai said I
[6:01]was sent as a center of forbearance a mind of knowledge and
[6:06]a home for patience he spoke the truth when he said true
[6:10]forbearance is when you pardon a person who acts badly with you
[6:13]and opposes you while you have the power to take revenge on
[6:18]him it is as the supplication says my Allah you're too vast
[6:22]in favor and forbearance to punish me for my action and abase
[6:27]me for my mistake section 74 following another's example following the example
[6:30]of another is nothing more than what has been bestowed upon the
[6:35]spirit at its origin when the light of time was mixed with
[6:38]that of Eternity following a model however does not consist of adopting
[6:44]the marks of outward actions and claiming the descent from the aah
[6:48]of The Faith from among the wise and the imams peace be
[6:50]upon them as Allah said the day when we will call every
[6:56]people by their Imam in chapter 17: 71 that is whoever follows
[7:00]someone with effacement is pure and elsewhere so when the trumpet is
[7:05]blown there will be no ties of relationship between them on that
[7:10]day nor shall they ask of each other in chapter 23: 101
[7:13]the commander of the faithful Alam said souls are a drafted Army
[7:18]those who know each other are intimate and those who do not
[7:23]know each other differ from each other Muhammad hanfia was asked who
[7:27]had taught him good manners and he replied my Lord taught me
[7:29]manners in myself whatever I find to be good in people of
[7:35]intelligence and insight I follow and use whatever I find ugly in
[7:38]the ignorant I avoid and forsake forever that has brought me to
[7:43]The Path of Knowledge there is no Sounder way for the aute
[7:46]believer than to follow the example of others because it is the
[7:49]clearest path and the soundest goal and Allah said to Muhammad s
[7:54]the greatest of his creation they are they whom Allah guided therefore
[8:01]follow their guidance in chapter 6: 90 elsewhere he said then we
[8:05]reveal to you follow the faith of ibraim the upright one in
[8:12]chapter 16: 123 if the faith of Allah had a path straighter
[8:15]than following a model he would have recommended it to His prophets
[8:20]and his supporters the holy prophet sallallah alai said there is a
[8:24]light in the heart which is illuminated only by following the truth
[8:29]and intending to work Wards the right path it is a part
[8:32]of the light of the prophets which has been entrusted in the
[8:34]hearts of the Believers section 75 pardon pardoning someone when you have
[8:39]the power to punish is one of the customary practices of The
[8:45]Messengers and the secrets of the Allah fearing pardon is when you
[8:48]do not charge your companion for what he has done wrong outwardly
[8:50]when you forget the cause by which there was inward Affliction and
[8:55]when you extend great charity in your choice despite having power over
[9:01]him no one could find a way to that pardon except by
[9:03]the one whom Allah has pardoned and forgiven for the sins which
[9:06]he has committed and the Deeds he has put off and who
[9:10]has been adorned with his Mark of honor and clothed in the
[9:13]light of his Radiance this is because pardon and forgiveness are two
[9:18]of the attributes of Almighty Allah which he entrusted in the secrets
[9:22]of his pure friends so that they adopt the manners of their
[9:25]creator and maker with creation this is why he said they should
[9:31]should pardon and turn away do you not love that Allah should
[9:34]forgive you and Allah is forgiving merciful in chapter 24:22 if you
[9:39]do not pardon another mortal like yourself how can you hope for
[9:42]the pardon of the compelling King the holy prophet sallallah alai said
[9:47]that his Lord commanded him to have these qualities saying Unite with
[9:51]whoever breaks with you and pardon whoever wrongs you give to whoever
[9:56]deprives you and be good to whoever is bad to you he
[10:01]commanded us to follow him when Allah said whatever the messenger gives
[10:05]you accept it and from whatever he forbids you keep back in
[10:12]chapter 59:7 pardon is a secret of Allah in the heart of
[10:14]his select whoever is gladdened by it has made him happy the
[10:19]messenger of Allah sallai said is any of you capable of being
[10:23]like Abu damam oh messenger of Allah they said who is Abu
[10:30]damdam the holy Prophet sallallah alai replied one of your ancestors who
[10:34]when he woke up in the morning would say oh Allah I
[10:38]have forgiven the shattering of My Honor by The Common People section
[10:43]76 exhortation the best form of exhortation is when the words used
[10:46]do not go beyond the limits of truth and the actions performed
[10:51]do not go beyond the limits of sincerity the Warner and the
[10:55]warned are like someone awake and someone asleep whoever awakes from the
[10:59]Slumber of his he heedlessness opposition and Rebellion does good to awaken
[11:04]others from that sleep anyone who travels in the deserts of transgression
[11:08]and engrosses himself in the Wilds of misguidance abandons his modesty because
[11:13]of his love for reputation showing off in Fame wasting his time
[11:18]with those who wear the garments of the righteous his outward appearance
[11:22]divulging the substance of what is inside of him in reality he
[11:28]is devoid of any substance and his inner destitution is flooded with
[11:32]love of praise and enveloped in the darkness of greed how seduced
[11:35]he is by his passion how he leads people astray with his
[11:39]words as Allah has said evil certainly is the guardian and evil
[11:45]certainly is the associate in chap 22:13 but whoever Allah has protected
[11:52]by the light of toed support and excellent success his heart is
[11:56]cleaned of impurity he does not separate himself from noses and precau
[11:59]caution he listens to the words of the misguided while he ignores
[12:02]the speaker himself whoever he is the wise have said take wisdom
[12:08]even if it comes from the mouths of Mad Men In the
[12:10]words of is sit with anyone who reminds you of Allah when
[12:16]you see him and meet him aside from when he talks Do
[12:20]not sit with someone when your outer being accepts him but your
[12:24]inner being rejects him that is someone who lays claim to what
[12:26]he does not have if you are sincere then they will yield
[12:31]to you when you find someone with these three qualities then seize
[12:34]the opportunity to see him meet with him and sit with him
[12:39]even if it is only for an hour this will have an
[12:40]effect on your faith your heart and your worship through his Blessing
[12:46]if someone's words do not go beyond his actions whose actions do
[12:50]not go beyond his truthfulness and whose truthfulness do not contend with
[12:54]his Lord then sit with him with respect and wait for mercy
[12:56]and blessing Beware of the proof against you and make his time
[13:02]in your company Pleasant so that you do not reproach him and
[13:05]lose look at him with the eye of Allah's favor upon him
[13:11]his selecting him and his honoring him section 77 advice the best
[13:14]of advice and the most necessary is that you do not forget
[13:19]your lord and that you remember him always and do not rebel
[13:22]against him and that you should worship him whether sitting or standing
[13:25]do not be dazzled by His blessings and always be grateful to
[13:31]him do not go out from under the protective cover of his
[13:34]mercy immensity and Majesty lest you go astray and fall into the
[13:37]field of Destruction even if Affliction and adversity touch you and the
[13:44]fires of Trials burn you know that the afflictions he sends are
[13:48]filled with the Eternal marks of his honor and that the trials
[13:50]he inflicts bring about his pleasure and nearness even though it may
[13:54]be after some time what blessings there are for the person who
[14:00]has not knowledge and who granted success therein it is related that
[14:03]when someone asked the messenger of Allah s for advice he said
[14:07]never get angry for anger contains opposition to your lord beware of
[14:14]making excuses for they contain hidden polytheism say your prayers like someone
[14:17]saying farewell for it contains a link to Allah and nearness to
[14:23]him be modest before Allah as you're are modest before the righteous
[14:27]among your neighbors for this contains inre inre certainty Allah has gathered
[14:31]up the advice of all our ancestors both distant and near into
[14:37]one single characteristic and that is precaution tawa in the words of
[14:42]Almighty Allah certainly we enjoin those who were given the book before
[14:45]you and we enjoin you too that you should be careful of
[14:48]your duty in chapter 4: 131 this is the sum of every
[14:53]sound act of worship It Is by precaution that people reach the
[14:58]high degrees and highest rank It Is by precaution that people lead
[15:03]a good life with constant companionship surely those who guard against evil
[15:06]shall be in the gardens and rivers in the seat of Honor
[15:11]with the most powerful King in chapter 54: 54-55 section 78 trustful
[15:20]Reliance trust meaning tul is a cup sealed with Allah none may
[15:24]drink from it or break the seal save the trustful it is
[15:28]as Allah said on Allah should the trustful rely in chapter 14:12
[15:33]and on Allah should you rely if you're Believers in chapter 5:
[15:40]23 Allah May trust the key of belief and belief the lock
[15:43]of trust the reality of trust is preferring others to oneself the
[15:49]root of preferring others is to advance the other person's claim he
[15:52]who trusts continues to affirm one of the two preferences in his
[15:56]trust if he prefers what is caused he's veiled by it if
[16:02]he prefers the causer of the cause of trust I.E the Creator
[16:05]glory be to him and may he be exalted he remains with
[16:09]him if you wanted to be a man of trust and not
[16:14]a man of causes then say the takir over your Ru five
[16:16]times and bid farewell to all your hopes as death bids farewell
[16:21]to life the lowest level of trust is nothing more than placing
[16:25]your highest aspiration before your own advancement moreover you should neither see
[16:30]for your own portion nor look for what you lack for either
[16:32]of those things would break the bond of your belief while you're
[16:35]unaware if you're truly determined to live by one of the marks
[16:41]of the trusting one and by his trust with respect to one
[16:42]of these two preferences then cling to this story for support it
[16:49]is related that one of the men of trust came to one
[16:50]of the imams peace be upon them and said to him show
[16:55]me compassion by answering a question about trust the IM knew the
[17:01]man to be of excellent trust and rare scrupulousness and he saw
[17:05]his sincerity in what he was asking before the man actually put
[17:08]the question stay where you are and wait with me for a
[17:12]while he told him while he was formulating his answer a poor
[17:15]man passed by the Imam Alam put his hand into his pocket
[17:21]and said taking something out gave it to the poor man then
[17:23]he turned to the man who had asked the question and said
[17:28]come and ask about what you have seen oh Imam the man
[17:32]said I know that you could have given me the answer to
[17:34]my question before making me wait why then did you delay and
[17:39]the Imam replied belief means reflecting on the meaning before I speak
[17:43]for how could I be negligent of my innermost being when my
[17:46]Lord perceives it how could I discuss the science of trust while
[17:51]there is a coin in my pocket it is not permitted for
[17:54]me to discuss that until after I had given it to him
[17:58]so understand the questioner sighed deeply and swore that he would not
[18:02]seek shelter in a house nor rely on another mortal as long
[18:06]as he lived section 79 respect for one's Brothers the reason why
[18:11]Brothers in the faith shake hands is Allah's love for them the
[18:14]messenger of Allah Sall alai said whenever Brethren shake hands in Allah
[18:19]their wrong actions are dispersed so that they become as they were
[18:25]on the day their mothers bore them no two brothers love and
[18:27]respect for each other increases without there being increased for each of
[18:32]them also it is obligatory for the one having most knowledge of
[18:35]Allah's Faith among the two to stimulate his friend to perform the
[18:41]obligatory functions which Allah has made necessary and to guide him in
[18:45]going straight in contentment and moderation to give him the good news
[18:49]of Allah's mercy and to make him fear his punishment the other
[18:51]brother must seek the blessing of his guidance and hold to what
[18:57]he calls him to adhere to his admonition and be guided by
[19:01]him all the while seeking protection in Allah and seeking his help
[19:05]and success Isam was once asked how are you this morning to
[19:11]which he replied I do not possess the benefit for which I
[19:13]hope for nor can I repel what I am on my guard
[19:18]against while I'm commanded to obey and forbidden to rebel I do
[19:21]not think that any popper is poorer than I am and when
[19:26]a Alani was asked the same question he said how is a
[19:30]man in the morning when he does not know if he will
[19:31]be alive in the evening and in the evening he does not
[19:35]know if he will be alive in the morning Abu said in
[19:40]the morning I thank my Lord and I thank myself the holy
[19:45]prophet Sall said whoever wakes up in the morning aspiring for something
[19:50]other than Allah has become among the losers and transgressors
