[1:37]on the dawn of the tenth day of muharram imam hussein led

[1:43]his followers for the morning prayer he then wore his grandfather's armor

[1:52]and turban and held his father's sword he stood to address his

[2:01]followers beginning with the praise of allah he said allah has destined

[2:09]that you and i shall be killed today therefore i urge you

[2:16]to be strong and resilient in fighting then imam hussein began preparing

[2:24]for battle by mobilizing his 72 companions and family members he positioned

[2:33]waheir ibn al payne as the commander of the right flank habib

[2:39]ibn al mahir as the commander of the left flank and he

[2:45]placed his household in the center he then presented the flag to

[2:52]his brother al abbas the troops gathered in front of the tents

[2:58]where the women and children were housed omar ibn saad the commander

[3:06]of the enemy army proceeded with 30,000 troops he positioned amr ibn

[3:14]al hajjaj as the commander of the right flank and shimr ibn

[3:19]al jawshan as the commander of the left flank when imam hussein

[3:26]saw their large gathering he raised his hands to the sky and

[3:32]prayed oh my lord you are my haven in every mishal my

[3:40]hope in every predicament my refuge and defender in every ordeal how

[3:49]many forms of distress that weaken the heart and make the enemy

[3:53]rejoice when i entrusted them to you and resorted to you out

[3:59]of preference over others you did not let me down and eliminated

[4:07]all of these distressing things you are the giver of every blessing

[4:14]and the ultimate source of every wish to be granted imam hussein

[4:20]then mounted his horse and stood in front of the enemy army

[4:25]ready to speak he began by saying o people track back my

[4:33]lineage to see who i am then look back and think to

[4:39]yourselves think about whether it is right for you to kill me

[4:44]and violate my integrity am i not the son of your prophet's

[4:51]daughter am i not the son of your prophet's successor was not

[4:59]hamzah the master of martyrs my father's uncle was not my uncle

[5:09]have you not heard the prophet's word concerning my brother and i

[5:15]hassan and hussein are the masters of the youth of paradise whether

[5:21]you believe in what i say or not even though it is

[5:26]the truth there are men among you that if you ask them

[5:31]they will tell you that i speak the truth ask jabir ibn

[5:36]abdullah ibn ansari zayd ibn alupam anas ibn malik and they will

[5:45]tell you that they heard these words from the messenger of allah

[5:48]in favor of my brother and me a member of the enemy

[5:55]army replied submit to the authority of your kinsmen imam hussein replied

[6:05]by allah i will never give you my hand like a humiliated

[6:09]man nor will i ever flee imam then raised his hands towards

[6:17]the sky and said oh allah give them no rain afflict them

[6:24]with barren years like the years of yusuf and make them slaves

[6:29]to the man of taqaf meaning al hajjaj ibn yusuf taqafi for

[6:35]they have labeled us as liars and have let us down you

[6:40]are our lord we rely on you and to you we return

[6:47]he then began to plead for help and rescue when heard his

[6:55]plea for help approached omar ibn sa'ad and asked him are you

[7:02]really going to fight this man umar replied yes by the almighty

[7:09]the kind of fighting in which heads will fall and arms will

[7:12]be cut off khur said are you not satisfied with what he

[7:18]has proposed to you umar replied if it was up to me

[7:24]i would accept his proposal but your master ibn ziyad has his

[7:30]orders khur then stood in the middle of the battlefield and began

[7:36]to tremble al muhajir ibn ous called him and said you arise

[7:46]my doubt i have never seen you like this in any situation

[7:52]and if someone were to ask me about the most courageous man

[7:56]in kufa i would have never chosen anyone else other than you

[8:02]oh oh replied i am making a decision between paradise and hellfire

[8:11]and by allah i choose nothing over paradise even if it means

[8:16]death he then gradually drew nearer to the camp of imam hussein

[8:27]as soon as he reached the imam's camp imam hussein asked him

[8:33]who he was all appearing with tears in his eyes said my

[8:41]master hussain i am the one who brought you to this land

[8:46]and prevented you from returning to where you came from imam asked

[8:52]him are you hol hulk replied yes my master i have come

[8:59]to seek forgiveness from you do you think that allah will accept

[9:04]my repentance imam hussein replied to him yes if you repent allah

[9:11]will forgive you umar ibn saj drew nearer to the camp of

[9:17]imam hussein and ordered the bearer of the flag to move forward

[9:24]he then took an arrow placed it in his arch and released

[9:29]it in the direction of the imam's camp and said bear witness

[9:35]for me with the amir that i was the first to shoot

[9:40]the arrows then followed like rain causing injuries among the companions of

[9:46]imam hussain imam hussain then said my companions rise to certain death

[9:57]may allah have mercy upon you these arrows are the messengers of

[10:03]your enemies to you the companions waged the battle for some time

[10:11]when the dust settled 50 of them were killed when the imam

[10:17]saw this sight he said allah's wrath was on the jews because

[10:24]they claimed he had a son on the christians became because they

[10:29]made him one of the trinity and on the people who were

[10:33]unanimous in the agreement to kill the son of their prophet's daughter

[10:39]by allah i am not going to give up until i meet

[10:43]allah drenched in my blood he then shouted is there no one

[11:03]who can come to our rescue is there no one to protect

[11:08]the sanctity of the prophet's family when the woman heard his plea

[11:16]they all began to weep one by one the companions of imam

[11:22]hussain asked for permission to enter the battlefield to fight the enemy

[11:27]bidding him farewell attacked the enemy troops killing over 40 of them

[11:37]when his horse was wounded he fought them on foot until he

[11:42]fell to the ground imam hussein rushed to him he sat next

[11:48]to him and began to remove the blood and the sand from

[11:52]hur's face imam hussein turned to him and said congratulations al khur

[12:02]you are a free man khur just like your mother named you

[12:09]islam who was the servant of imam hussein was next he fought

[12:16]very bravely when he was badly wounded he he called on the

[12:22]imam for hallowed the imam came to him and hugged him for

[12:28]one last time islam smiled and thanked allah for granted him martyrdom

[12:36]then he passed away muslim ibn al sajid then assaulted the enemy

[12:43]and fought very bravely amr ibn al hajjaj along with his troops

[12:49]counterattack counterattack the troops of the imam when the two forces flashed

[12:55]and the dust settled muslim was found fallen but still alive imam

[13:03]hussein and habib rushed to him imam said to him may allah

[13:11]have mercy upon you o muslim habib said to him i am

[13:18]very sorry to see you in this state o muslim you are

[13:24]entering paradise now if i wasn't absolutely sure that i will be

[13:31]following in your footsteps i would have asked you to give me

[13:36]your last will muslim turned to habib and he told him yes

[13:43]oh habib my will is that you take care of this man

[13:48]pointing to imam hussain sacrifice the last breath you have for him

[13:55]habib replying to him rest assured that i will among those who

[14:02]remain now was wahab al kalbi wahab was a christian who was

[14:10]accompanied by his newly married wife and mother all of them had

[14:15]declared their islam before imam hussain on the way to karbala his

[14:22]mother urged him to do his best on the battlefield his wife

[14:28]did not want him to go they were newly weds nevertheless wahhab

[14:35]entered the battlefield killing some and wounding others he then returned to

[14:42]his mother and said oh my mother are you satisfied with me

[14:49]his mother replied oh i will not be satisfied until you sacrifice

[14:56]yourself for the cause of imam hussein his wife said to him

[15:04]for the sake of allah we have just gotten married and i

[15:09]can't stand even the thought of your death his mother told him

[15:16]my dear son do not listen go back and fight for imam

[15:21]hussein will earn his grandfather's intercession on the day of judgment wahab

[15:29]then returned to the battlefield once again killing many enemy soldiers then

[15:36]while fighting his fingers were cut at that moment his wife carried

[15:43]the pole and rushed towards him saying may my father and mother

[15:48]be sacrificed for you oh waheb fight for the sake of the

[15:52]household of the messenger of allah do not return to me alive

[15:59]wahab replied to her a short while ago you were objecting and

[16:05]now you are urging me to fight what happened his wife replied

[16:11]to him do not blame me i have forsaken life since i

[16:18]heard imam hussain calling oh my lord how we have been left

[16:24]alone is there anyone to support us the imam's calm wounded my

[16:31]heart wahab kept fighting until he lost both of his arms and

[16:37]was killed his wife walked towards his body and sat near his

[16:42]head wiping away the blood and singing congratulations allah for you are

[16:51]now guaranteed a place in paradise i pray to the almighty to

[16:57]bestow it on me to make me join you shimer who was

[17:03]close by dispatched the troop to kill her he dealt fatal blow

[17:09]to her head with a truncheon and she died immediately immediately beside

[17:13]her husband after praying the noon prayer nurse john maula abidam he

[17:23]approached the imam asking him for permission to fight the imam told

[17:30]him that he didn't need to fight and that he had permission

[17:35]to leave the battle joan began to cry he told the imam

[17:42]at times of comfort i was with you but at times of

[17:48]hardship do you expect me to abandon you never by allah i

[17:55]will fight alongside you until my blood mixes with your blood imam

[18:01]fusain wept over him he allowed him to enter the battlefield job

[18:09]fought very bravely until he fell and called for the imam imam

[18:15]hussein rushed to him he wept over him and then he put

[18:21]his cheeks on the cheek of job a gesture of love and

[18:25]honor once all of the companions had passed away family of imam

[18:37]hussein prepared for battle the first to come forward was ali al

[18:47]akbar imam hussein's son some reports say that he was 27 years

[18:57]old when ali asked for permission from his father to go out

[19:04]to the battlefield imam hussain could not hold back his tears he

[19:15]looked to omar ibn saad and said oh oman may allah bereave

[19:22]you of your family the same way you have bereaved me of

[19:26]mine he then turned to the sky and said oh allah bear

[19:37]witness to these people for the most the most similar youth to

[19:43]the prophet in his looks and manners have has come out to

[19:47]meet them o lord deprive them from the riches of the land

[19:56]divide them and bring your wrath upon them ali akbar entered the

[20:03]battlefield killing tens of the troops due to the immense thirst he

[20:12]felt and the pain from the scorching sun ali al akbar came

[20:18]back to his camp asking his father for water imam hussain told

[20:25]him my dear son i am also thirsty and he assured him

[20:31]that their grandfather the messenger of allah will be the first to

[20:35]quench his stirrers ali went back onto the battlefield fighting with greater

[20:43]fears it was as if his grandfather imam ali was in the

[20:49]battlefield finally mullah ibn munqid approached him and dealt a blow to

[20:57]ali's head causing him to fall onto his horns his horse not

[21:04]being able to see due to the blood covering his eyes dragged

[21:10]ali al akbar towards the enemy cannon he cried out to his

[21:48]father oh my father above the blood i bid you farewell here

[21:56]is my grandfather from whose cup i have drunk never again will

[22:02]i be thirsty and my grandfather says that there will be a

[22:07]cup waiting for you too oh dear father imam hussein rushed in

[22:18]seeing what is remaining from his son ali imam put his cheeks

[22:24]on ali's cheeks saying my son ali life is not worthy worth

[22:36]living anymore after you he then took a handful of his son's

[22:43]blood and threw it towards the sky imam hussein then asked the

[22:49]youth to carry ali's body back to the can the woman gathered

[22:55]around ali ibn akbar weeping crying and beating their chest the turn

[23:04]was now long for the 14 year old qasim the son of

[23:08]imam hassan imam hussein first refused to give him permission since qasim

[23:18]was the only memory remaining of his brother imam hassan qasem brought

[23:26]forth a letter to imam hussain which was written by his father

[23:33]imam hassan urging imam hussein to allow his son to fight imam

[23:41]hugged qasim and continued to weep imam hakkasem and continued to weep

[23:58]he then prepared him for battle and allowed him to go qasim

[24:03]fought very bravely until his sandal snapped as he bent down to

[24:10]fix it amr ibn saddil has said he attacked him with his

[24:14]sword on his it is with great regret that i am helpless

[24:42]my dear nephew you call upon me but i cannot respond or

[24:50]when i respond i cannot help you qasim was brought back to

[24:58]the test they placed his body next to the body of ali

[25:04]ibn al akbar and the other youth when abbas saw the deltoid

[25:13]rising he stood up and ordered his brothers abdullah uthman and jafar

[25:20]to enter the battlefield and fight one by one one by one

[25:26]his brothers fought and were killed it was now time for abba's

[25:44]himself it was now time for abbas himself to enter the battlefield

[26:04]he approached his brother imam hussein to seek permission to go out

[26:09]and find my youth imam hussein did not want to lose tears

[26:29]filled his eyes oh brother imam hussein said you are the bearer

[26:38]of my flag if you die my entire army will collapse and

[26:45]my enemies will rejoice abbas replied in my dear brother i am

[26:55]tired of these hypocrites i cannot stand the sounds of the children

[27:01]crying out of thirst i cannot hear them cry out imam hussein

[27:14]saw abbas adamant about fighting he said my brother before you go

[27:20]out to battle go out and seek some water for these thirsty

[27:25]children abbas immediately mounted his horse he took the water container and

[27:35]headed towards the river cutting through the enemy lines he was surrounded

[27:41]by many troops who shot at him with their arrows but he

[27:46]did not fear their multitudes the standard hoisted over his head he

[27:53]started attacking them causing them to flee in front of him and

[27:59]he managed to reach the bank of the river with fortitude as

[28:12]soon as he reached into the river he took a handful of

[28:19]water to drink but then he remembered the thirst of his brother

[28:27]abba abdullah and the woman and the children he dropped the water

[28:35]immediately immediately he could not drink while imam hussain and the children

[28:40]were still thirsty abbas filled his water container he mounted his horse

[29:23]again and headed towards the kara all of a sudden the enemy

[29:28]troops surrounded him from every direction they attacked him altogether zayd ibn

[29:40]raghad and al hakim ibn tufail were hiding waiting for a bus

[29:46]to approach zane struck a bus on his right arm immediately cutting

[29:55]it off a bus began to recite he then took the container

[30:35]in his left arm until hakim came out and hit his left

[30:41]arm as well a buzz began to reside abbas then managed to

[31:16]hold the water container with his teeth staying without his two arms

[31:23]he headed towards the camp but the enemy did not give him

[31:27]a chance they reigned him with arrows one of the arrows striking

[31:34]his eye the other one hitting the water container causing him to

[31:39]drop and spill and another arrow piercing through abbas's chest a bus

[31:52]was now open when the container fell a bus lost all hope

[32:02]and he stopped proceeding towards the cup he remained in his place

[32:07]instead he stood in his spot all of a sudden one of

[32:13]the wicked soldiers struck him with a ball on his head causing

[32:19]abbas to fall onto the ground abbas began calling imam hussain for

[32:27]help oh my brother abba abdullah may the peace of allah be

[32:44]upon you i have fallen to the ground come to my assistance

[32:52]imam hussein rushed him causing the enemy troops to flee when imam

[32:59]approached him first saw the water container then he saw the flag

[33:06]on the ground then he saw the two arms of abbas scattered

[33:13]on the battlefield abbas was lying on the ground an arrow embedded

[33:25]in his eye and another one in his chest imam hussain began

[33:36]to weep and cry calling out above us my back is now

[34:07]broken my brother above us my enemy has now rejoiced over your

[34:16]death above us there is no one left to support me any

[34:23]longer abbas who will safeguard the daughters of the messenger of allah

[34:32]after you imam hussein urged abbas to get up so that he

[34:40]may take him back to the camp abbas refused he had promised

[34:48]the children to bring them water he could not go back empty

[34:55]handed after a few moments imam hussain was seen walking back to

[35:05]the camp alone sorrowful hopeless weeping wiping his tears imam hussain returned

[35:18]to islam sukaina the imam's daughter she approached her father and asked

[35:27]him about her uncle ababa oh abomas what a love of eyes

[35:54]the woman began to weep along with imam hussain joining them calling

[36:01]out after the death of abbas imam hussein was left without any

[36:30]supporters he looked around and saw nothing but dead bodies around him

[36:46]he repeatedly began to call out is there no one to come

[37:22]to our rescue is there no one to come to our help

[37:32]imam hussein then turned to his camp to bid farewell to the

[37:35]woman and children before proceeding his sister zaynab brought him his infant

[37:46]abdullah zaynab told him my dear brother hosseguh before you go out

[38:00]please ask these men for a few drops of water for this

[38:04]child he is dying from thirst he can no longer breathe imam

[38:14]hussein took his son and headed towards the enemies he then requested

[38:22]them for a few drops of water the enemy soldiers came together

[38:30]to decide whether to give him water or not all of a

[38:37]sudden as imam hussain was holding his son in his stepped forward

[38:50]then shot an arrow towards the infant which pierced through the child's

[38:56]nigh killing him instantly in the hands of his father imam hussein

[39:05]took the blood from abdulah's neck and threw it to the sky

[39:09]and said at this time imam hussein prepared himself to go out

[40:14]to bed he came back to his family to bid them farewell

[40:23]one last time he called imam hussein calls to the woman may

[41:46]the peace of allah be with you i am now going out

[41:52]and we shall meet once again in paradise be patient after my

[41:59]death for you have many tragedies awaiting you he then asked for

[42:07]his horse zainab alaihi salam brought him his horse with tears filling

[42:13]her alive when imam hussein mounted his horse and headed towards the

[42:22]battlefield he heard a faint voice calling him from beyond light he

[42:34]looked back to see that it was his sister zaynab zaynab was

[42:45]calling him back asking him to come back imam hussein returned to

[42:53]her she asked him to come down from his horse zaynab told

[43:00]him there's one thing i need to do come down from your

[43:06]horse my dear brother when imam hussein came down from his horse

[43:16]and sayyidah zaynab embraced him and she began to kiss him on

[43:22]his neck and on his chest and then she turned towards medina

[43:32]and she called out my dear mother fatima have done as you

[43:41]told me to do when imam hussein asked her about this she

[43:51]told him that her mother fought them before her dad she brought

[43:58]her clothes to her and she told her my dear zayunal i

[44:08]request that when you see your brother hussein all alone that you

[44:16]kiss him on his chest on my beard yeah imam hussein then

[44:40]bid farewell one last time he then mounted his horse and charged

[44:50]towards the enemy reciting he charged towards the enemies when omar ibn

[45:30]saad saw him he yelled out to his army be aware o

[45:37]troops this is the son of the exterminator of the arab set

[45:46]upon him from every direction the troops reigned him with arrows from

[45:52]every direction the soldiers cut him off from his camp and proceeded

[45:58]towards the tent imam hussein shouted imam hussein shouted o troops if

[46:11]you have no fear of god have fear and do not proceed

[46:17]towards the tents as long as i am alive shimrat explained what

[46:25]are you saying oh son of fat imam imam hussein replied to

[46:30]him i am the one who is fighting you and the woman

[46:35]and children are not at fault so as long as i am

[46:39]alive forbid your insolent thugs from harassing my family shamil accepted his

[46:48]request whereupon the enemy soldiers they targeted the imam when omar ibn

[46:57]sa'ad saw him approaching he ordered his soldiers to attack imam hussein

[47:03]from every direction one by one they met the imam and the

[47:10]imam fought them fiercely after killing many of them and after being

[47:18]severely wounded the imam became tired he asked the enemy for some

[47:27]water shimr answered him you are not going to taste the drop

[47:34]of water until you enter the hellfire imam hussain had become very

[47:44]tired and had to stop to rest as he was resting yabu

[47:52]wahili as imam hussein was resting in one of the enemies approached

[48:00]him and struck him with a stone on his forehead causing the

[48:06]blood to gush down from the imam's face the imam took out

[48:12]a piece of cloth he began to wipe the blood off of

[48:16]his face suddenly another enemy he pointed a in the name of

[49:00]allah by allah and on the path of the messenger of allah

[49:11]imam hussein then raised his head to the sky and said oh

[49:18]allah you know very well that they are killing the grandson of

[49:24]the prophet and there is no other grandson of the prophet besides

[49:29]him he then pulled out the arrow from his chest causing the

[49:36]blood to stream down imam hussein placed his hands under his chest

[49:43]filling it with blood then he threw the blood towards the sky

[49:48]and said my only comfort is that what has befallen me is

[49:53]in the way of allah imam hussain then filled his hand again

[49:59]with blood this time staining his hair and his beard yahweh he

[50:13]then said i wish to meet allah and my grandfather drenched in

[50:19]my blood imamos severely wounded was left lying on the ground for

[50:36]considerable time none of the soldiers had the boldness to come and

[50:44]to kill imam hussain the imam's horns began to roam around him

[50:53]staining his forehead with the imam's blood the horse kept on the

[51:16]horse then headed towards the camp of imam hussain the woman heard

[51:23]the voice of the horse thinking that the imam had come back

[51:27]to the herd however they came out of their tents to see

[51:33]the horse without the imam drenched in the blood of his master

[51:41]they began to beat their chest calling zaynab then immediately rushed to

[51:59]the scene to see what was happening zaynab saw imam hussein lying

[52:08]on the ground surrounded by the enemies zainab shouted oh omar have

[52:16]you no mercy to see my brother in the state omar ibn

[52:25]saad seeing the imam in the state shouted to his soldiers go

[52:32]down to him to bring him peace meaning one of you must

[52:37]go out and kill him at the sound of this commandment shimrab

[52:44]ibn al joshan began to approach the imam yammubi he came close

[52:55]to the imam he began to kick the imam several times and

[53:01]then he sat on the imam's chest ya'lomini he sat on the

[53:12]imam's chest then he cursed the imam and he cursed his father

[53:17]amir al mominin oh believers he then took all the imam's head

[53:40]he lifted his sword and then he struck the imam on his

[53:45]head beheading him
