[0:14]for the purification of the souls and the enlightenment of the hearts
[0:20]and for the hastening of the reappearance of the awaited Savior Enlighten
[0:25]your souls and the atmosphere with the recitation of salawat upon Muhammad
[0:30]Muhammad oppression tyranny Injustice are practices that are considered vile and unacceptable
[0:46]in the minds and in the hearts of human beings the history
[0:50]of humankind has witnessed much forms of Oppression and Injustice millions of
[0:57]people have been treated in in an unfair way killed imprisoned driven
[1:04]out of their lands oppression therefore is not an alien practice to
[1:09]human beings in fact when it came to the first murder that
[1:16]this Earth saw when it came to the sons of Adam Kil
[1:22]K killing habil this in itself was a form of Oppression when
[1:25]we look at the Holy Quran we find the subject oful or
[1:29]oppression mentioned over 300 times 300 occasions or more Allah waala speaks
[1:38]about this area the dangers associated with oppression and indeed how human
[1:46]beings can recognize what truly is oppression and how they should deal
[1:54]with it yet the realization emerges and that is that in the
[1:58]minds of people oppression normally is defined as taking the rights of
[2:03]others when somebody says that I am M the first thing that
[2:09]comes to their mind is that somebody has taken what belongs to
[2:12]them sometimes it's their life other times it's their money in occasions
[2:17]is their land yet the Quran brings forward another notion another idea
[2:22]that there are two types of Oppression one oppression is the oppression
[2:28]of the human being to them elves that when it comes to
[2:34]us as human beings sometimes we practice upon ourselves we may be
[2:41]oblivious we may not be aware of this particular idea yet the
[2:45]Quran affirms that Allah does not oppress that it is people who
[2:59]oppress themselves the idea emerges in what way that the term in
[3:05]Arabic language means that when an individual takes something from its what
[3:15]it should be or what it should be located and placed and
[3:17]places it something else this is the def definition of Oppression Allah
[3:25]in the Quran says the human beings oppress themselves how do they
[3:29]oppress themselves the most characteristic manifestation of the oppression of the human
[3:37]being for themselves is what is that the greatest form of Oppression
[3:57]is when the human being transgresses the boundary displays arrogance self-centeredness it
[4:05]presents the ego as the most important in their lives and denies
[4:10]the existence of Allah subhah wa ta'ala or at the same time
[4:17]Associates others with the almighty subhanahu wa taala a fact that was
[4:22]demonstrated by whom by Ben is that when mam saved B is
[4:33]from F and F drowned he took them thousands of them they
[4:37]crossed the sea they came to an area Prophet mam was to
[4:44]be spoken to by Allah subhah wa taala he left his brother
[4:50]harun in charge of the community what happened was that a man
[4:55]by the name of Sam decided to deceive he built a cal
[4:59]from the jewelry that belonged to the women and what happened was
[5:05]that he made it have a voice or a sound people believed
[5:09]that this Cal was worthy to be worshiped and therefore they considered
[5:14]it an object of of worship mam came back saw that many
[5:23]of B is had taken to the worship of the C he
[5:29]became enraged he was disappointed with his community so much evidence so
[5:34]much guidance so much blessings from Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala yet they
[5:39]would deny it at the first opportunity they committed shik at the
[5:44]first opportunity they turned their backs on the almighty subhah waala M
[5:48]said to them oh my community you have done what you have
[5:58]performed oppression upon your yourself you have committed Injustice upon yourself by
[6:05]considering this Cal that was built by the Sam as your God
[6:09]therefore you should do what kill yourselves the Quran says they this
[6:19]community was told you have to kill yourselves as a punishment for
[6:25]what you did as a punishment for the shik that You' have
[6:28]committed the narrations tell us that they wore the weans at night
[6:30]when it was dark they were all together they took the swords
[6:34]and they killed each other this was a punishment that was specific
[6:39]by Allah subhah wa ta'ala towards whom towards this community likewise the
[6:45]Queen of Sheba belis later on when sulan presents and comes forward
[6:50]and shows her the evidence she comes forward and says oh my
[6:59]Lord I have what I have oppressed myself and now I am
[7:06]a believer in what I am a believer in the Lord ofan
[7:08]in Allah subhanahu waala the Quran informs us of the dangers and
[7:19]the severe consequences of because indeed Allah says Allah does not forgive
[7:30]Those who commit sh and indeed he forgives Those whom may commit
[7:34]things below sh in other words sh is the greatest transgression oppression
[7:40]Act of sin that the human being can perform the ination told
[7:48]to us in the Holy Quran is that sometimes our arrogance creates
[7:52]this type of Oppression how in chapter 18 the Almighty forms us
[8:01]of a story of two people who had Gardens they both shared
[8:05]what this ability to own a garden one's Garden was not as
[8:13]good as the other garden and the other person would boast he
[8:19]was self-centered he was full of himself arrogant he would say to
[8:25]the other I am more wealthy than you and I have more
[8:32]children I am somebody who deserves to be praised much more than
[8:36]you the individual informs him the second one he says do you
[8:47]commit this form of disbelief against the one who created you from
[8:52]soil from clay that is why we are told that in Dua
[8:57]you and I what do we recite we recite in this beautiful
[9:00]mesmerizing supplication of that I myself saw in some Muslim countries that
[9:07]despise the school of ah bate and its followers that publish leaflets
[9:16]that send terrorists that bomb the sh of in those countries I
[9:20]saw people when they hear Dua they could not help but weep
[9:23]and Cry tears come down their cheeks they don't know why but
[9:30]the words of Ali impacts them so powerfully therefore in Dua what
[9:34]do we say we recite and we say indeed that is the
[9:45]admission this particular individual would not admit that he was arrogant and
[9:53]therefore oppressing his own soul oppressing his own the Quran says he
[10:01]entered the Jenna Jenna is what Jenna is a garden the Quran
[10:04]tells us that they had two gardens the information told us is
[10:09]that this man enters the garden and was full of Oppression against
[10:14]himself he's thought that this Garden will never be destroyed this particular
[10:20]place will remain and hence the idea that images from the Quran
[10:24]is that when he wakes up in the morning he finds that
[10:31]Allah waala had obliterated it had destroyed it and he becomes remorseful
[10:37]over the arrogance and the oppression that he had committed at the
[10:42]same time we are told that as human beings we should be
[10:47]careful not to oppress ourselves in other words we have to continuously
[10:51]be in the state ofar seeking forgiveness from Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala lest
[10:58]we are in the position that we think that we are okay
[11:04]that there is nothing that has affected Us in an adverse Manner
[11:07]and the method ofar should be sincere should be one that an
[11:15]individual speaks between them and Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala recognizing that it
[11:20]is he who will forgive the sins this method by which an
[11:23]individual speaks solely with the almighty subhanahu wa ta'ala has many fruits
[11:29]has many benefits the Quran tells us in chapter 18 whereby the
[11:37]story of some youth are described and the Quran tells us of
[11:47]the people of the Cave the sleepers of the cave as they're
[11:50]known as well as the people of raim I do not wish
[11:54]to discuss the story of the people of the cave it's an
[11:56]inspirational story and one that the youth are recommended to go and
[12:03]to seek and to take practical lessons and apply in their lives
[12:06]there is a story of a people known as who are these
[12:11]there were three youth who emerged one day and raim is inscription
[12:21]on a rock so they went and they sought a cave they
[12:24]saw in this cave a opportunity to explore what was happening he
[12:30]they went inside the cave as three youngsters would do they were
[12:35]gathering around until it so happened that there was a shaking of
[12:39]the mountain and the cave would close the cave would now be
[12:45]closed now they're stuck inside these three youngsters now were petrified they
[12:50]said how will we leave they came to the understanding that we
[12:55]have to ask the almighty subhanahu wa ta'ala we have to ask
[12:59]Allah subhah waala to help us they prayed to him they said
[13:02]oh Allah collectively they said oh Allah help us there is no
[13:08]one who can take us out of this misery except you nothing
[13:11]happened they stayed there now they were anxious time was passing they
[13:18]would not have any food they would not have any water they
[13:21]then decided they said maybe we need to speak to Allah in
[13:25]isolation maybe we need to converse with the Lord Lord sometimes you
[13:31]and I my dear brothers and sisters we need to communicate and
[13:35]speak to Allah by ourselves Allah loves the human being the individual
[13:40]who dedicates a part of their time to have a conversation with
[13:44]the only beloved sometimes we're asleep at night and we can't sleep
[13:52]or we wake up and we twist and turn turn this way
[13:54]and the other way and we wonder why is it that I'm
[13:58]unable to sleep have you ever has it ever crossed our minds
[14:03]that it is Allah who's calling us and telling us rise perform
[14:07]these of Salah enter yourself in the state of frustration and feel
[14:11]the sweetness of communicating with me connect with me and I will
[14:18]open everything for you I will facilitate everything for you just like
[14:23]how sometimes you and I are looking for a signal on our
[14:25]cell phones we may struggle in certain areas to find a signal
[14:29]on our cell phones to connect to our people that we like
[14:34]to connect Allah subhah wa ta'ala says come and speak to me
[14:37]and I will give you the strongest of signals I will ensure
[14:43]that you are protected and I will listen to you the almighty
[14:54]J would recall and would ask us you and I to allocate
[14:57]certain times to speak speak to him in this busy time that
[15:02]you and I go through we are engaged we are so busy
[15:07]we have our cell phones we have our smartphones we have our
[15:10]iPads our computers we have the TV we have the internet we
[15:16]have people that we communicate with we speak with everyone but we
[15:19]do not speak with Allah and if it comes to the time
[15:24]of Salah in which Allah has mandated so that we speak to
[15:27]him our mind wanders off it's 5 minutes we stand before Allah
[15:30]at the time of or or yet in those few minutes we
[15:36]are still unable to connect with the absolute perfect being therefore this
[15:42]practice of munajat this secret Whispering was that of the we have
[15:49]these 15 that have been passed on to You and I by
[15:55]IM this is wonderful supplication of the Holy fourth IM how wonderful
[16:04]it is that we pick up This Magnificent book known as we
[16:08]get acquainted with it we start reciting these beautiful words of the
[16:14]IMs especially after Salah especially at night before we go to sleep
[16:21]begin this connection and this relationship with the almighty J these three
[16:28]individuals these three youth they decided to do this they said let's
[16:31]separate let's sit in the corners of the cave let's supplicate to
[16:35]Allah one by one they would speak to their creator they would
[16:38]empty their hearts to their creator the first man would say to
[16:44]him when you are very well aware of what I did one
[16:50]day what did he do that day he says oh Allah I
[16:54]am an individual who works in a farm and I look after
[16:58]a few people who work for me and one day somebody who
[17:00]works for me came late and I said to him why are
[17:06]you late he didn't answer me I said to him should I
[17:10]take away your salary from you today how much I'm going to
[17:12]give you he said it's up to you he worked that day
[17:17]when he finished I gave him an entire salary I didn't deduct
[17:19]anything from him he looked at me and he said I worked
[17:25]very hard today you should give me more I said to him
[17:29]that's all I can give you he left the money and he
[17:30]quit he moved on many years later I took the money and
[17:36]I invested it I bought more cows and indeed this grew my
[17:39]business in the farm many years later he came back this man
[17:44]that quit he said to me do you remember when I quit
[17:48]that day and you didn't give me my salary I said yes
[17:50]he said I want it now I am in need of it
[17:53]I said to him the salary that you didn't take I invested
[17:56]and look at what's happened look at the number of animals and
[17:59]cows and sheep that I have because it is your money that
[18:05]I invested everything that I have is for you and then he
[18:08]speaks to Allah he says oh Allah I did this for you
[18:12]no one knew of this this was for your sake please help
[18:15]me the narration tell us that when he said this part of
[18:21]the opening of The Cave could be seen the rock that was
[18:23]closing the cave slightly moved by the permission of Allah the second
[18:29]man would speak the second youngster would say yaah Allah oh my
[18:33]Lord you are very well aware that I had a neighbor who
[18:37]was a widow and had orphans and one day she came to
[18:40]me and said please help me my children are starving I do
[18:45]not have any food to feed them please help me I thought
[18:47]with myself if she wants something from me I'm going to ask
[18:50]something back from her I asked for a vile act back from
[18:55]her she said please fear God do not ask me to do
[18:59]something which is not permissible I said it's up to you whether
[19:02]you take it or leave it she went back she came back
[19:06]later and said it's fine I will do it with one condition
[19:08]let's go to a place where nobody can see us I said
[19:13]to her where she said think about it is there a placea
[19:15]that the almighty cannot see us that moment when she said this
[19:21]this shook me I said to her I have known the one
[19:23]who's made a mistake I gave her everything that I own I
[19:27]gave her the food I gave her the water the clothes and
[19:30]she went away this young man said oh Allah I did this
[19:34]for you I did this for your sake part of the rock
[19:38]moved the third individual said one day my father was asleep and
[19:44]he had told me my young son prepare some milk for me
[19:49]so I went and milked the cow I bought the milk and
[19:53]I saw my father asleep I said with myself what should I
[19:55]do with the milk then I thought you know what let's keep
[19:59]it in my hand let's keep it warm so that when my
[20:01]father wakes up I give him warm milk in the winter I
[20:06]kept waiting for several hours until he woke up I presented it
[20:11]to him I presented to him with so much love with so
[20:13]much respect and he prayed for me oh Allah you know that
[20:18]I did for this for your sake so please help me the
[20:20]narration says when this man said this the entire Rock was moved
[20:25]and they were able to leave with the permission of Allah subhanahu
[20:29]wa ta'ala therefore we are told that this sincerity and this Devotion
[20:34]to Allah is of the utmost importance when it comes to seeking
[20:38]forgiveness from the oppression of oneself yet the second degree of Oppression
[20:45]is taking the rights of others away tyrants dictators oppressors throughout time
[20:53]have masterminded this in all its shapes in all its forms yet
[20:57]the Quran says be careful it's it's not only those that will
[21:00]be blamed on the day of judgment it's not only those that
[21:07]the finger will be pointed upon why the Quran says do not
[21:14]be ACC complicit do not help do not stand with those who
[21:20]are oppresses do not assist them in any shape or form lest
[21:25]Hellfire will also engulf you so it's not only those in the
[21:28]indviduals who who oppress others but if you are happy with their
[21:34]actions if you somehow Pat them on the back if you support
[21:37]them if you stand with them if you assist them in any
[21:43]shape or form then Allah waala considers you part of them there
[21:46]was a man by the name of ibraim Jamal he had what
[21:53]he had camels many camels like today's business it it was like
[21:57]car rental company back in the time they needed the camels to
[22:03]do what they needed the camels to move so one day Hari
[22:05]not Rashid he's not a Rashid he was not an upright individual
[22:11]he was a corrupt individual who would say to the clouds you
[22:15]can re Wherever You Wish because the Earth belongs to me this
[22:22]was Haron who killed IM mum Hari would come to him and
[22:26]say I wish to what take a few camels as loan because
[22:32]I want to go to ha ibim Jamal comes to IM he
[22:35]says to him this har wants to take this particular number of
[22:40]jaml camels from me just as a loone can I do that
[22:46]Imam says no you are not permitted to do so if you
[22:47]do so then you are a partner in his crime you are
[22:53]assisting him you are helping and aiding him in the committing of
[22:57]the atrocities he is a man that is wretched an individual whom
[23:03]Allah waala is displeased with therefore when it comes to our actions
[23:07]we have to be careful who we align ourselves with who we
[23:13]support and therefore the idea exists and that is when it comes
[23:16]to oppression we have to also stand up against it we have
[23:21]to speak out we have to make our voices heard if there
[23:23]is oppression around the world we have to make the world here
[23:28]of the need to stand for justice for human rights for the
[23:31]rights of civilians and the innocent whose rights have being taken away
[23:36]in any shape or form a wretched individual who would eat his
[23:42]dinner on the skulls of the of the Shia of Ali Muhammad
[23:48]an individual who will mix the blood of the Shia with the
[23:50]dough to make the bread an individual who committed the killing of
[23:55]100,000 followers or more of this particular man one day called upon
[24:02]an individual he said to him have you memorized the Quran he
[24:07]said yes he said I want you to recite some Quran for
[24:09]me this man stands in front of Al ha and says to
[24:24]him said hold on a minute that's not right it should be
[24:29]what why you reciting it as translation when you see people leaving
[24:39]the religion of God this man said it is because of you
[24:42]that people are leaving the religion of God you are the cause
[24:48]that the people are looking down upon the religion he spoke the
[24:53]word of Truth he was unfaced the fact that this ha was
[25:00]wretched an individual who was what who was known for his animosity
[25:05]towards the B and indeed when we speak about and oppression one
[25:11]cannot think of a group of individuals who were the recipients of
[25:16]so much oppression like the from the moment in which passed away
[25:22]from this world until today this very day whereby several of the
[25:31]followers of the bit were torn apart in Iraq today due to
[25:37]their commitment and their love and their displaying of loyalty for abdah
[25:42]Hussein suicide bombers would kill them because they're going to pay their
[25:46]respects towards the shrine of Hussein and this is not new from
[25:50]that moment till today the oppression against the continues from The Taking
[25:56]of the right of am towards the attack on the house of
[26:03]s fa and causing of her martydom towards the usurping of the
[26:07]right of IM alassan and at the same time the wars against
[26:11]and the oppression that was faced by abdah Hussein his family and
[26:16]his companions on the 10th of muharam and the line and the
[26:23]stories continue one after the other the atrocities need to be written
[26:27]in books and volumes a man by the name as an example
[26:32]Hamid he comes on the month of Ramadan ham he comes in
[26:39]the month of Ramadan he seemed to be eating in Mash inasan
[26:43]at the time of whom at the time of Hari he seemed
[26:49]to be eating they said to him oh ham this is the
[26:53]month of fasting why is it that you're eating why is it
[26:55]that you're consuming food he said there is no point for me
[27:00]me to fast God will never forgive me they said why what
[27:05]has happened he said that one day harun called me in the
[27:08]middle of the night when he called me I thought the worst
[27:13]I thought that he's about to punish me I went to the
[27:15]Palace he was drunken he said to me oh Hamed what is
[27:20]my value in your eyes how much am I worth in your
[27:22]eyes I said to him we call him my value your value
[27:33]in my eyes is what is myself harun said I don't want
[27:39]that go back he said after an hour I was called back
[27:40]again I was asked once again what is my value he says
[27:47]once again har would dislike this answer he called him for the
[27:52]third time can you tell me how much am I worth in
[27:54]your eyes the response from H is once again har would refuse
[28:03]he's looking for something more on the fourth occasion says to him
[28:11]that's what I'm looking for Haron says that you will sacrifice your
[28:16]religion for me now go with this servant of mine and do
[28:22]whatever he says he said we went to a particular house there
[28:28]were what 20 of the sh of of the lovers of Ali
[28:29]innocent Souls they had not committed any crimes except that they follow
[28:34]the path of true Islam the Quran and the that's what they
[28:39]do that's it theyve not committed anything then he says that the
[28:43]servant said decapitate their heads they were young in their 20s so
[28:46]he said I picked up the sword and I decapitated all their
[28:50]heads I said is that it he says no we haven't finished
[28:52]yet let's go to another house he said we went to another
[28:56]place a dungeon whereby there were 20 in the there 40s 20
[29:02]men also of the Shia also the AL he's told me decapitate
[29:04]their heads cut their heads off I did the same until finally
[29:07]we went to the third prison the third dungeon there were 20
[29:13]who 20 elderly men and I decapitated all their heads except the
[29:17]last one the last one looked at me and said oh Hamed
[29:21]what will you say to my grandfather on the day of judgment
[29:28]when he will say to you why did you commit such a
[29:30]crime on what way can you explain and justify the killing of
[29:37]innocent civilians and such a way he says that I reflected for
[29:39]a moment but then I thought that I had promised to Haron
[29:42]that I will sell my religion I picked up the sword and
[29:48]I decapitated his heads the oppression against the indeed one is found
[29:53]to be prevalent in so many generations and that's why today when
[29:58]when we come to commemorate one of the greatest oppressions that this
[30:04]world has ever seen we are standing against what happened on the
[30:08]10th of muharam not only are we seeking to learn from the
[30:11]University of ab abdah Hussein not only does the young the women
[30:18]the elderly the youth all can look at this wonderful school whereby
[30:22]there are so many values and principles to apply IM Al Hussein
[30:26]stood for so many many things that you and I can take
[30:32]away from can make this mam this day of a an instigating
[30:37]factor for change in our lives if I have bigotry God forbid
[30:40]if I dislike others just because they from a different family or
[30:45]a different denomination then I look at carala the way IM Hussein
[30:49]dealt with John MOA Abu the servant of Abu that he would
[30:54]come he would respect John he would say to him oh John
[30:58]you can go you are free to go but John would say
[30:59]to him I want to fight with you I want to sacrifice
[31:03]my life so that my blood mixes with your blood the way
[31:08]he respected him to denounce any form of racism that Islam comes
[31:13]forward and states that there is no position when it comes to
[31:17]discrimination according to what according to background according to for instance nationalities
[31:24]color creed that is an amazing lesson if I want to see
[31:27]the value of women in the religion of Islam then I look
[31:32]at the role played by the women in carala and what they
[31:35]did afterwards in ensuring that the message of ab abdillah Hussein reaches
[31:39]the world they continue to lift the flag of the movement of
[31:45]ABA abdah Hussein if I want to learn about dignity if I
[31:47]want to seek lessons about Freedom if I want to know what
[31:52]the value of sacrifice is then I look at carala then that's
[31:55]why I commemorate that's why I weep that's why I cry that's
[32:01]why irrespective of anyone who wants to stop me anyone who wants
[32:04]to kill me anyone who wants to say that this is not
[32:06]something that we should do Millions upon Millions on an annual basis
[32:13]in every corner of the world stand to indeed commemorate the tragedy
[32:17]of ashur in order for them to say to the oppressors that
[32:21]we will not succumb to your Injustice and oppression that we are
[32:26]the sons of Hussein and in our blood there is that call
[32:32]to Rise Against oppression and Injustice that we will not tolerate any
[32:36]form of that we will speak out that we will demonstrate that
[32:39]we will write we will do whatever we can when we see
[32:44]that there is oppression going on around the world when we come
[32:47]and to reflect and when we mourn what happened on the 10th
[32:52]of muharam what is it that comes to our minds what goes
[32:55]through this particular individual when they are commemorating the 10th of muharam
[33:01]this is the night to what to pay our salutations to a
[33:09]lady what did she go through on this hard day one scholar
[33:16]says that abdah Hussein had to enjoy what he enjoyed he saw
[33:20]so many calamities so many M so many of his family members
[33:27]his companions slaughtered one after the other but then he was killed
[33:31]he was marted he attained this lofty position with Allah yet it
[33:35]was say Zab that saw this all and had to endure what
[33:41]will happen afterwards the narrations tell us that say what did she
[33:47]witness not only did she see Ali go and did not return
[33:52]not only did she have to bear the pain and the suffering
[33:54]of of missing her beloved brother AB the one who was her
[34:04]protector not only did she have to stand in patience when it
[34:07]comes to Imam Hussein who bid her his Farewell to her knowing
[34:12]very well what will happen Z on such a night would see
[34:22]the calamities and the M that's why she was called the narration

[34:36]remember that say Z had stood on the T as it's known
[34:44]today that she had that she had told people how can you
[34:49]allow them those individuals to murder the grandson of the Prophet is
[34:54]there anyone amongst you who is Muslim she would witness sh sit
[34:59]on the chest of abdah what sight was that the narrations inform
[35:05]us that when Imam was to leave this world when he was

[35:14]but IM would cry and weep IM would say to him why
[35:21]is it that you're crying what is happening Imam Saad would say
[35:27]now you're hugging me you are next to me and IAI pass
[35:32]away but I recall who sat on the chest of my body
[35:37]on the plains ofala after they decapitated the head of abdah Hussein
[35:44]they surrounded him a man by the name of bajel he sat
[35:50]next to the body whilst others were looting the possessions of Hussein
[35:54]he saw a ring on the fingers of he said I will
[36:01]steal this ring I will take this ring but every time he
[36:05]wanted to take the ring out the ring was stuck to the
[36:07]fingers of Hussein due to the blood so he would want to
[36:10]pull it but it doesn't come out he takes a dagger and
[36:17]he sers the fingers of Hussein he sers the finger so that
[36:20]he can take the ring out now Cries Out now you have
[36:34]to burn the tents of the oppressors indeed he calls the bit
[36:39]oppressors they now March towards the tent they started to set them
[36:46]Al light the daughters of Hussein the sisters of IM Hussein they
[36:51]were running from one tent to another one particular daughter was running
[37:00]and dress caught some fire HB Muslim says that I saw a
[37:05]young daughter of Hussein running I came next to her tried to
[37:07]extinguish the fire from her clothes I she looked at me and
