[44:02]for you [Music] [Music] in [Music] in [Music] [Music] for for [Music]
[46:19][Music] [Music] [Music] Muhammed Muhammad our respected scholar and dear families peace
[47:29]be upon Hussein upon Ali son of Hussein upon the children of
[47:34]Hussein and upon the companions of Hussein let us begin this evening
[47:42]with our nightly Dua for those who remember it from the nights
[47:44]before please join me in asking Allah subhana wa tala to increase
[47:50]our faith in today's Battle of Faith through the following excerpt from
[47:54]IM M's Dua [Music] please help me welcome to the podium with
[48:24]a loud Salat Muhammad Muhammad m [Music] alhamdulillah last night we began
[49:48]discussing the topic of evolution and we went over this idea that
[49:55]in the 1850s after many centuries where the idea of the creation
[50:01]of a human being was simply that God had created him directly
[50:06]an individual rose up who had this idea that based upon the
[50:13]evidence that we are finding it seems as if all life on
[50:20]the face of this Earth it has a common point of origin
[50:23]and so the implication of this it was that if we go
[50:29]back a little bit in time in our evolutionary history it wasn't
[50:33]that we have been created directly by God rather that there was
[50:39]a process of evolution through which we were created and the implication
[50:44]of this was that in our ancestry we share a common lineage
[50:53]with primates as this idea begins to spread throughout the Christian world
[50:57]it is accepted by the Christian World it spreads throughout the Muslim
[51:02]World Muslims begin to Grapple that we have quranic verses that are
[51:07]causing us issues that when we read the quranic verses and we
[51:11]understand the quranic verses it seems as if they are saying that
[51:15]God directly created mankind B and so when they begin to analyze
[51:24]the verses they came up with a few conclusions and modern day
[51:29]Scholars they've essentially come up with the idea that even if we
[51:34]accept evolution and we say that this theory is accurate in that
[51:38]everything on this Earth has a common point of origin they say
[51:45]even despite this all of the evidence points to Adam as having
[51:50]been a distinct creation and I mentioned three points which if we
[51:57]are to accept Evol ution wholesale it causes us issues that number
[52:01]one when we look at the story of and we find that
[52:08]one of them was a farmer whereas when we look at the
[52:14]first incidents of homo sapiens who should be the first Adam we
[52:18]find that homo sapiens appeared 200,000 years ago while agriculture it is
[52:23]something that has only existed for the past 10,000 years that was
[52:28]number one number two was the fact that when you look at
[52:35]the quranic story of killing Hil his brother what we find is
[52:40]that Kil he doesn't know about the custom of burial whereas when
[52:45]we look at the fossil record what we find is that burials
[52:48]have been happening long before Homo sapiens when we look amongst neanderthals
[52:54]before neanderthals we find that for very long period of time these
[52:59]humanlike beings that we mentioned were nasnas they knew about burial they
[53:06]would bury one another they would even put objects within the graves
[53:10]of one another to help them in the afterlife and so how
[53:12]is it that if adam.
[53:16]and his children were the first of the homo sapiens they came
[53:19]about 200,000 years ago how is it that Allah had to send
[53:25]a crow to teach about burial and the third point that we
[53:29]mentioned is that when you look at the Mal when Allah subhana
[53:34]wa taala he says that oh my Mal I am going to
[53:39]be placing this individual this being and I'm going to be making
[53:42]him my vice gerant myif on the face of the Earth the
[53:47]Mal they ask that question from Allah that oh Allah but this
[53:52]is a being that sheds blood and it causes corruption on the
[53:57]face of the Earth how was it that the Mal they knew
[54:01]that is going to for example cause corruption and shed blood and
[54:07]so the one of the theories that they have brought together they've
[54:10]looked at the fossil record they've looked at the quranic verses they
[54:14]have looked at the they've thought about this issue deeply they have
[54:18]said that even if we believe that Evolution was what caused the
[54:23]creation of much of the animal life on this Earth and even
[54:29]the humanlike beings that came before us and even if it was
[54:31]the cause of some of the homo sapiens when we look at
[54:38]the creation of Adam it appears that Adam's creation was a distinct
[54:44]and special creation yes adam.
[54:46]may have resembled in some degree those previous beings that existed in
[54:50]the past but there was something unique about him something that made
[54:55]him worthy of being being Allah's on the face of this Earth
[55:00]I just wanted to recap this inshallah from last night's lecture and
[55:08]moving forward tonight's lecture is going to be at least from myself
[55:12]it's going to be a very difficult lecture it's a little bit
[55:14]of a sensitive topic but I feel that it's a very important
[55:20]topic and it's one that we need to tackle and we need
[55:24]to discuss and we need to have a deeper knowledge of the
[55:28]this issue when we look at the verses of the Holy Quran
[55:31]one of the things that we find is that the Quran is
[55:36]filled with stories of past Nations and past prophets you open the
[55:40]pages of the Quran and immediately Allah begins to weave stories that
[55:46]in the past there was this prophet and he went through these
[55:51]kinds of issues and in the past there was for example this
[55:54]group of people and they went through these kinds of issues a
[55:58]question that arises is that why does Allah subhah wa ta'ala when
[56:02]he reveals the Quran to me and you why is it that
[56:07]he simply didn't reveal a book of dos and don'ts he very
[56:11]easily could have done this he could have said that this is
[56:13]halal this is W you need to go towards these things and
[56:18]he could have said that these things are Haram you need to
[56:21]avoid these things if you go towards them you're going to be
[56:24]harmed but Allah doesn't do this he doesn't just give us a
[56:26]book of dos and don'ts rather he gives us a book that
[56:32]is filled with the stories of these past groups of people and
[56:36]he shows us practically speaking what happens to us if we obey
[56:40]the Divine laws and what happens to us if we disobey the
[56:45]Divine laws you see as human beings usually if our parents told
[56:51]us don't do this how would we react towards them we would
[56:55]usually ask the question but why I want to do it why
[57:00]are you telling me that I shouldn't do it we want to
[57:03]know what happens practically if we do this thing even a child
[57:07]you tell him that Baba I don't want you to go towards
[57:13]the stove when it's on he doesn't understand he wants to see
[57:16]the Practical imp implications of what happens when he puts his hand
[57:20]in the fire and so Allah subhana wa tala he does a
[57:25]mercy to us and he shows us practically through past groups of
[57:27]human beings that when you go down a certain path this is
[57:33]going to be what ends up taking place to the society now
[57:37]when we are looking at the stories of these an one of
[57:41]the things that you're going to notice is that within the Muslim
[57:46]Community when we look at the names that we give our children
[57:50]we find the names of most of these Andia in fact we
[57:54]can say that almost all of them are reflected within our community
[57:57]ities most of you will know at least one or two musas
[58:01]many of you will know at least one Isa many of you
[58:06]will know at least one a one yunus we find that these
[58:11]names are reflected even though of course they are not as common
[58:14]as the names of Muhammad and Ali and Fa and Hassan these
[58:20]are more common in our communities of one prophet and that is
[58:23]going to be the prophet that we are discussing tonight that you
[58:27]will never find even a single individual that is willing to name
[58:35]their child after him and this is none other than neb L
[58:38]you know I always when I think about him I feel a
[58:42]sense of Sorrow I have really a soft spot in my heart
[58:48]for him because if you look at all of the prophets of
[58:52]God Allah subhah wa ta'ala just imagine he turns to them and
[58:55]he says that I am going to be sending you on a
[58:57]mission they say yaah Allah we obey what is the mission Allah
[59:02]for example he tells them that there's a group of people they
[59:06]are worshiping Idols in this part of the world your job is
[59:09]to go and to fix this issue to rectify the problem they
[59:13]say okay no problem they go to that group of people they
[59:16]live amongst them and they try to fix that issue of idol
[59:21]worship amongst them they have to argue with them and say that
[59:24]you shouldn't worship pieces of stone and wood Allah he turns towards
[59:30]him and he says I am sending you on a mission what
[59:33]is the mission Ya Allah there is a group of people that
[59:37]are practicing an Abomination not only am I sending you to them
[59:40]you have to go and you have to live amongst them for
[59:44]decades you know every city in the US at least where I'm
[59:49]from in California we have a place where it is the epicenter
[59:52]of that Community you couldn't pay me enough money to go live
[59:58]in that Community just because of the facade and the corruption that
[60:01]is prevailing there you don't feel safe you don't feel that your
[60:05]children are safe but imagine this prophet of God he gets sent
[60:10]to the epicenter of the facade not only is he sent there
[60:15]he has to live there for multiple decades this is such a
[60:23]tremendous burden and then as reward for what he has been sent
[60:25]to do in our own communities you won't find a single person
[60:30]who names their children after him in fact we even do him
[60:33]the disservice whenever we want to refer to that Community we say
[60:41]we don't say we don't say we don't say we don't say
[60:47]any of these things but when it comes to this poor prophet
[60:53]of God we say it is the people of Loot and so
[60:55]I always feel this sense of Sorrow whenever I'm looking at the
[61:00]story of now before we begin I'm going to mention a few
[61:07]points number one I'm going to be censoring some parts of the
[61:12]story and the reason is that if there was a raiding system
[61:15]this would break the rating system and so for the sake of
[61:19]myself for the sake of the audience I will be censoring I'll
[61:25]use some euphemisms if you want to to know the entirety of
[61:28]the story there is an excellent book by the name of God's
[61:32]emissaries written by rwan aru and it's an excellent book I highly
[61:39]recommend every single one of you purchase this book if you're Savvy
[61:43]maybe download it there's a pdf version it has the story of
[61:49]all of the prophets of God beginning with Prophet Adam Alam and
[61:53]it continues until the story of Isa Al and it has within
[61:58]it the complete story of neb so if you want the full
[62:00]unabridged version it's there I mean it's not that bad but for
[62:05]the sake of the speech for the sake of the audience I
[62:07]will be cutting some parts out of it inshallah that was Point
[62:14]number one point number two is that this speech is going to
[62:17]have two components component one is that we are going to be
[62:22]going over the story of NAB lot and what happens to him
[62:26]the second component is that we're going to be breaking down the
[62:29]story that we went over and we're going to be analyzing some
[62:32]of the key questions that you are going to be asked or
[62:37]that for example have come up living in this society that we
[62:39]are living in so there's going to be these two components let's
[62:44]begin insh with the story of with aaat muham when we look
[62:57]at the the story ofb the story of neb is actually intertwined
[63:02]with the story of ibim usually when we think about the stories
[63:07]of the prophets we think of them as individuals that each are
[63:13]having their own role and their own jobs but what we find
[63:16]with this particular story is that NAB lot andb ibraim were actually
[63:20]cousins with one another and the wife ofb ibim is actually the
[63:27]sister of Nabil so from the very beginning these two they have
[63:34]a very close relationship and when IIM he is in the city
[63:38]which is known as and he is trying to administer to the
[63:42]people he's trying to teach to the people that idol worship is
[63:48]an Abomination I'm sure you know the famous story where he's in
[63:52]the city and he realizes that there is a idol Temple which
[63:55]is filled with all of the idols of the people of was
[64:01]actually helping him to plan that operation and soim he makes the
[64:10]determination that he's going to wait until a day of Eid for
[64:12]his people when everyone has left the city he's going to go
[64:17]inside of that Temple which is filled with all of these different
[64:19]Idols he's going to take an axxe and he is going to
[64:25]go to town on all all of these Idols he takes the
[64:29]axe he begins to destroy all of the idols until he reaches
[64:32]the largest of the idols when he reaches the largest of the
[64:36]idols he pauses he pauses and he takes the axe and he
[64:41]places the axe on the body of the largest Idol now helped
[64:47]him to plan out this operation and when the people they come
[64:51]back they say who could have done this horrible thing they say
[64:56]that it had to be none other than that youth known as
[64:59]ibraim he's always speaking ill of our gods and he's telling us
[65:05]that they're not real and that they can't do anything and that
[65:08]they have no powers so they call upon ibraim they say come
[65:12]here ibraim comes they say ibraim we know that it was you
[65:20]who did this ibraim he looks he says you know if we're
[65:22]going to be honest here I'm looking at these Idols all of
[65:25]them have been destroyed but the largest one you know the muscular
[65:29]one the one that is the most powerful of them all he
[65:34]seems to be the one standing not only is he standing he
[65:37]also has an axe in his hands so he says it must
[65:40]have been that one the people they turn to him and they
[65:45]say ibraim you know very well that these Idols they can't move
[65:47]they can't do anything they can't have any power over doing something
[65:51]like this and so ibim and who is alongside him they're arguing
[65:57]with the people and eventually they get thrown ibraim gets thrown into
[66:02]the fire and when that doesn't burn him they are exiled outside
[66:05]of the city now IIM and they are trying to decide we've
[66:11]been exiled from the city of K where should we decide to
[66:16]go next so they're looking at the geography at the different cities
[66:19]and they decide to go to a city that is known today
[66:24]as heon or in the Arabic language it is known as Al
[66:28]it's named Al after the name of ibraim and so they decide
[66:34]that we're going to go to this city of Al we're going
[66:36]to make this our home now a question arises here why does
[66:42]IIM and loot why do they decide to go to the city
[66:45]of alal why do they decide to go to Hebron the answer
[66:50]is that when they look at the city of Al they see
[66:54]that it has a very strategic position during that time period if
[67:00]you looked there was cities through which trade routes would travel and
[67:04]so imagine if you are a prophet of God and your job
[67:10]is doing your job is to spread the religion of Islam if
[67:12]you could begin to do in a city like that where all
[67:17]of these Caravans are coming they are going from south to North
[67:19]and north to south and east to west if you could connect
[67:24]with these Travelers and tell them about Allah and about Islam then
[67:27]even if they didn't accept the religion of Islam which some of
[67:32]them would they would still take those ideas and they would take
[67:35]those Concepts far and wide so even when they return to for
[67:37]example their cities they would say that there is this prophet of
[67:42]God named IIM he believes in one God these are his teachings
[67:46]and so they situate themselves in and neb Lut is there with
[67:52]them and they begin to propagate the religion of Islam whenever Travelers
[67:56]come they are teaching them about this religion now there is a
[67:59]key point that I wanted to bring up here that when you
[68:04]look at every prophet of God throughout history they had a simple
[68:09]job description and that was the job description of meaning that they
[68:15]would try to propagate the religion of Islam to as many people
[68:18]and in as many ways as they felt was effective as she
[68:24]is one of the questions that people sometimes ask me is why
[68:30]is it that we Shia we don't do any why is it
[68:33]that we are one of the quietest schools of thought when it
[68:37]comes to the issue of propagating the religion of Islam and it's
[68:43]a genuine question that if you look probably the most active religion
[68:48]is the salafia the wahab they are the most active every city
[68:54]that you go they have booths and tables and they have pamphlets
[68:56]and maybe every weekend or even every single day they have a
[68:59]table out in different parks and they are trying to bring people
[69:03]towards the religion of Islam but as sh is who follow the
[69:06]prophets of God why is it that we are lacking in this
[69:11]department of course it has a very logical answer that as Shia
[69:14]as followers of the if you go back and you look at
[69:19]the history that we have it wasn't as if we were free
[69:22]to go out into the streets and call people to the path
[69:24]of the what would happen if someone did this if you called
[69:29]people to the path of the forget about calling people to the
[69:34]path if they even knew that you were a lover of the
[69:36]they would hunt you down they would kill you they would take
[69:41]your property and they would completely destroy your life now today in
[69:45]some of the countries it's still like this alhamdulillah here in America
[69:49]we don't have this issue but if you're from Pakistan if you
[69:54]are from Afghanistan we still have a assassinations of the Shia if
[69:58]you are a Shia if you are wellknown you are a key
[69:59]figure in the community they will actually come and they will assassinate
[70:02]you but there is a lesson in this for us that if
[70:07]the job of the and the job of the it was the
[70:11]propagation of the religion of Islam we should do better we should
[70:19]do better we should have every Masjid should have at least a
[70:23]department at least a few people whose job is to somehow propag
[70:26]to whatever capacity that we have propagate the religion of Islam propagate
[70:32]if you don't see 20 30 40 new faces in the Masjid
[70:38]converts in a country where people are so thirsty for religion you
[70:43]know when I look at the history of Cults in this country
[70:45]people are so thirsty for spirituality and religion and meaning that they
[70:51]will join the craziest of Cults there's a vacuum here there's an
[70:55]opportunity here and so this is a tremendous opportunity that every Center
[71:00]if even a few Brothers a few sisters they educate themselves on
[71:04]on how to go out there and connect with people there's a
[71:09]huge opportunity inshallah of bringing people into the mercy of Allah so
[71:13]these prophets of God they are in the city of Hebron they're
[71:18]propagating the religion and as they are propagating the religion word comes
[71:24]to ibim that there is a city in which the people have
[71:29]become corrupted now what was the name of the city the name
[71:35]of the city was Sodom if we look at Sodom it's actually
[71:38]historically it's actually four cities and each of these cities they were
[71:43]right next to one another and they had distinct names but they
[71:48]were essentially considered to be Confederate cities they had the same people
[71:52]and the same culture and the same language soim he deputizes on
[71:59]behalf of Allah he sends he says that Allah wants you to
[72:04]go to the city of Sodom and you are supposed to go
[72:06]and you are supposed to try to bring these people out of
[72:10]this Abomination and sin that they are engaged in now you might
[72:15]be wondering how did the people of Sodom how did they fall
[72:21]into the sin because the history of how they fell into the
[72:24]sin is a fascinating history when we look at the original history
[72:29]of sod when you look at the that we have the they've
[72:31]explained the entire details of what happened they have said that in
[72:35]the very beginning the people of Sodom they were actually a very
[72:41]good group of people one of the characteristics that they were known
[72:46]by was that they were incredibly generous with people that were traveling
[72:50]as well as the poor so if you were a traveler during
[72:55]that time period and you happen to be close to the cities
[72:56]of Sodom you would definitely go there because one of the things
[73:01]that they were known to do is that whenever the poor came
[73:04]whenever The Travelers came they would feed them for the sake of
[73:07]Allah you know sometimes we hold back we are not generous when
[73:12]it comes to other people the people of Sodom were incredibly generous
[73:15]and so it became a hub of travel that not only would
[73:22]the poor flock to the city of Sodom but also those that
[73:23]were traveling they would also go there and so as a result
[73:28]of that generous nature that the people had what ends up happening
[73:31]is that Allah increases them in the blessings Allah gives them even
[73:38]more and so Sodom becomes an incredibly wealthy Place eventually after we
[73:43]don't know how many decades how many centuries maybe even longer Allah
[73:47]subhana wa ta'ala he decides that I'm going to test the people
[73:51]of Sodom you know it's one thing my brothers and sisters to
[73:56]be generous when the money is Flowing I don't know if you've
[74:00]ever been in the situation where money just keeps coming it just
[74:03]keeps coming it's very easy for you to say alhamdulillah and to
[74:06]put your hand into your pocket and to give it to those
[74:11]who are in need it's very easy because you know that it's
[74:14]coming it's continuous the real question of who we are as human
[74:19]beings the real question of whether I have an actual generous nature
[74:23]Within Myself is what I do when times are tough and believe
[74:29]me Allah is going to test each and every one of us
[74:34]that we may be a person of good maybe in a certain
[74:36]situation Allah May test us with a little bit of difficulty to
[74:42]see if we can maintain that good AK we may be a
[74:44]person known for their generosity because we have wealth Allah may decide
[74:48]to test Us by tightening those purse strings to see how we
[74:54]behave when the money is not flowing flowing Allah subhana wa ta'ala
[74:59]he decides that he is going to test the people of Sodom
[75:01]and so what he does is he sends down a drought and
[75:06]that drought it begins to take away some of the crops which
[75:12]they had they were a group of people with orchards and Farms
[75:15]alhamdulillah they had enough for themselves they had enough where they could
[75:19]eat and they could subsist but the drought causes a little bit
[75:25]of tightening of the resources now the poverty stricken they still are
[75:29]coming because of the reputation of Sodom The Travelers they continue to
[75:33]come because of the reputation of Sodom but what ends up happening
[75:39]is that when they see that the sodomites are no longer generous
[75:42]they're no longer giving to the poor and to the guests these
[75:47]individuals who are traveling through they say okay well we have all
[75:51]of these crops let us take from these crops and then we'll
[75:55]use these crops for ourselves so they end up stealing and pilfering
[75:58]from the crops of the sodomites now here Shayan he comes down
[76:04]and narrations they mention that he comes in the form of a
[76:09]man we don't know whether it was actually shaan who takes on
[76:12]human form or whether it was an individual whose ideas were satanic
[76:16]sometimes you have an individual whose ideas are so satanic that even
[76:21]Shan becomes ashamed this individual he gives gives a suggestion he says
[76:27]that these individuals that are coming and they are pilfering they are
[76:30]taking from your wealth it's not like you have Surplus and you
[76:35]have extras he gives them a suggestion that you should attack them
[76:38]and you should do something to them now here we're going to
[76:41]again as I mentioned we're going to censor he says that you
[76:46]should attack them you should assault them now when the people of
[76:50]Sodom this good group of people they are religious they are good-natured
[76:53]they're just going through this test they are disgusted by this suggestion
[76:57]they say old man how could you say such a horrible thing
[77:02]what is this but what Shan had done is that he had
[77:05]planted a seed he had planted an idea in the minds of
[77:09]the people of Sodom that if you want this to stop here
[77:14]as a solution the pilfering continues people continue to come they continue
[77:19]to steal and eventually what happens is that it becomes a custom
[77:23]amongst the people of Sodom that whenever they would catch Travelers who
[77:27]would come into the city as a warning as a way of
[77:32]teaching them you shouldn't do this they would attack them in this
[77:35]way now of course after a very short period of time the
[77:43]pilfering stops so definitely it works but when it stops these individuals
[77:46]who how now have this satanic practice amongst one another they begin
[77:52]to practice it amongst one another and so the entire culture of
[77:57]homosexuality it begins to spread amongst the people of Sodom it becomes
[78:02]part and parcel of who they are now when we look at
[78:06]the Hadith there's something amazing that the a Hadith mentioned that as
[78:09]they fall into this grave sin many things begin to change about
[78:15]the people of Sodom before this practice if you looked at the
[78:19]people of Sodom if you had traveled throughout their City you would
[78:22]have seen a people who dressed very modestly so their way of
[78:27]dress was very modest they would cover much of their bodies male
[78:30]as well as female but after they begin to engage in the
[78:37]Sin their dress begins to change so the Hadith mentioned that if
[78:40]they would cover both of their shoulders with the robes now they
[78:44]would leave one shoulder open if they had clothing which would conceal
[78:51]their bodies they would begin to wear translucent clothing one of the
[78:56]things that is mentioned this is maybe for the brothers one of
[78:59]the things that they begin to do is they begin to unbutton
[79:02]the buttons of their shirts they would leave the top buttons open
[79:05]I think after this the brothers are going to have an extra
[79:08]button they're going to be complete this was one of the characteristics
[79:13]this is one of the things that the Hadith mentioned that they
[79:16]would open these buttons revealing their chest the way that they would
[79:22]behave with one another changes before when they looked at one another
[79:25]they were modest and they're looking now they would begin to Lear
[79:30]at one another just imagine how much of a change has come
[79:32]across the society as a result of one sin the issue of
[79:37]hygiene and this is unbelievable they even stop bathing they even stop
[79:43]bathing that basic hygiene basic cleanliness Hadith mentions that they even stop
[79:48]performing basic hygiene so just you know when I say I feel
[79:54]sorry for imagine that he is being committ and he's being sent
[79:56]into a group of people who are like this and so when
[80:00]he enters into the city of Sodom he is shocked beyond belief
[80:06]to see the condition of these people these had been good people
[80:09]and in a period of time they had changed and they had
[80:12]transformed completely he enters into the city of Sodom he introduces himself
[80:20]the first thing that he notices is that people are learing at
[80:22]him as well they see that he's new when he introduces himself
[80:29]as the cousin of nib ibraim they say who is ibraim he
[80:31]says that individual that was thrown into the fire and he didn't
[80:36]burn so he's introducing himself as an individual with great power and
[80:40]so as a result of this the people of Sodom they leave
[80:42]him alone they don't attack him they leave him alone he finds
[80:47]a place of residence he finds a home there he even ends
[80:52]up marrying a woman from the city of Sodom who believed in
[80:56]his message so a Woman by the name of she accepts his
[80:59]teaching and his preaching and she comes and he eventually Weds her
[81:06]and so nebil for the next 33 years he is trying to
[81:08]teach the people that what you are doing is wrong now this
[81:13]is an unbelievably difficult job if it was one of us imagine
[81:20]that you are sent to a place like Sodom and you are
[81:21]trying to explain to the people that this sin is a grave
[81:25]sin you shouldn't commit it the reason X Y and Z and
[81:28]the people are not listening to you how long would you last
[81:30]there you know me maybe I would last one week and I
[81:34]say Ya Allah I can't do it I have to leave 33
[81:38]years he is doing to these people and eventually he reaches the
[81:44]point where he realizes that these people are not going to change
[81:51]now inshallah this is enough I'm going to stop at this point
[81:54]I like to to leave a little bit of a cliffhanger of
[81:58]what happens next and inshallah we're going to continue with the story
[82:01]as well as some of the points which we can extract from
[82:03]this story some of the Practical implications of how this story relates
[82:07]to us today inshallah tomorrow night we raise our hands in Dua
[82:13]we ask that Allah forgives us our sins in this holy month
[82:15]of muharam and that he guides us and that he protects not
[82:22]only us but our progeny as well from every kind of sin
[82:34]muh so they had also mentioned that we are going to begin
[82:40]doing a component of Q&A I believe there is an online portal
[82:45]for those of you who have any questions whether it's related to
[82:50]the topics that we've been going over or whether it's related to
[82:53]other topics if anyone has questions I think there's that online portal
[82:56]that you could ask them anonymously and inshallah from those questions we
[83:00]will gather and we will answer the easiest ones that's usually how
[83:05]it works if I'm going to be honest no we'll answer inshallah
[83:09]all of them that are relevant and they're beneficial inshallah so I
[83:12]think the first question that had been asked was the question that
[83:16]if I remember correctly someone was saying that if I am in
[83:23]a Haram relationship what do I do so sometimes as Believers we
[83:27]find ourselves in a situation that we don't want to be we
[83:30]made some mistakes and we are now in this very emotionally charged
[83:36]relationship and we know that it is Haram but we're trying to
[83:40]figure out how to get out of it so number one I'm
[83:44]just going to mention a few practical points number one we have
[83:47]to recognize that whatever Allah has made Haram he has mentioned that
[83:53]it is Haram because it is harmful to to us sometimes we
[83:56]have the opposite idea we think that Allah has made something Haram
[84:02]almost as a test and a trial that something is a lot
[84:04]of fun and then Allah he says that I want to see
[84:06]what level of Faith you have and I don't want you to
[84:10]do that fun action I don't want you to be in that
[84:12]fun place but the reality is that everything which is halal and
[84:18]everything that is Haram it's literally a guideline Allah is saying that
[84:21]if you want to have maximal happiness if you want to have
[84:23]minimum problems in this then I want you to do these things
[84:29]and I want you to avoid these things and what is Haram
[84:33]is essentially that action that it damages our soul Allah subhana wa
[84:38]tala he created us as body and soul and within that Soul
[84:41]anything that is Haram it literally causes damage if I want to
[84:44]give an example imagine that you have a vial of poison if
[84:49]you drink it let's say you won't die but you're going to
[84:54]get violently sick for the next couple of days Haram is literally
[84:58]the same we are causing damage and breakage to our soul and
[85:02]that damage it doesn't allow us to connect with Allah it doesn't
[85:06]allow us to be at peace so this is the first thing
[85:10]that whenever you look at the Halal and the Haram we have
[85:11]to look at it from the correct perspective so back to the
[85:14]question that we are in this difficult situation we have gotten ourselves
[85:21]into a Haram relationship number one we need to step away from
[85:24]that Haram relationship ship so regardless of the emotions that are involved
[85:27]you need to step away the second question that you need to
[85:31]ask yourself is that what I am doing right now this is
[85:36]not permissible and it's not good for me or the other person
[85:38]it's not going to lead to anything beneficial so the second question
[85:43]is that I've made this mistake they've made this mistake what is
[85:47]the solution now number one it's possible that you can decide that
[85:51]this individual would not make a good life partner in that case
[85:56]you need to break it completely as difficult as it is the
[85:58]emotional charge you do need to break that relationship but if you
[86:03]feel that no this individual would make a good life partner we've
[86:06]both made some mistakes but I see valuable characteristics in this person
[86:11]he or she for example would make a good husband a good
[86:15]wife a good mother a good father they have good characteristics they're
[86:18]religious if you can see that within that person then I would
[86:24]suggest bringing in the ERS and this is very important that sometimes
[86:27]the youth they try to get into relationships they try to go
[86:31]around their parents and first they establish a relationship then they bring
[86:34]in the parents this is a mistake as soon as you see
[86:39]someone that is suitable for you the first step is in reality
[86:41]to bring in the elders because if you don't bring in the
[86:46]elders no matter what you do or what you say that relationship
[86:48]is never going to be longlasting and so at this point if
[86:53]you find that that person is a good Pro prospective partner in
[86:56]the future then bring in the parents make that relationship Halal and
[87:01]you know Islam makes marriage extremely easy it makes it extremely easy
[87:06]that we don't even need you know in Sunni Islam you actually
[87:11]need Witnesses in sh Islam it's really a very simple you have
[87:15]a sheh he recites the and you are married so sometimes we
[87:18]complicate things and we have all these other ceremonies in order to
[87:23]make that relationship Halal it's very simple that you involve the parents
[87:26]you involve the and very quickly and very easily they can convert
[87:30]what is harmful for our souls into one of the greatest blessings
[87:34]and one of the greatest means of growth for ourselves so inshallah
[87:39]I hope that answers the question if anyone has any further questions
[87:43]again on this topic of the story I was going to say
[87:48]but I felt bad the story of or any of the other
[87:52]topics that we've done or even other things inshallah feel free to
[87:54]ask those questions and we will do our best to answer them
[88:00]muh muhamad before we begin our majus inshallah we share a small
[88:45]small announcement and that is the Alim youth contest which is an
[88:49]educational online questionnaire uh for Youth Of Ages 18 8 to 14
[88:54]the contest form will be available at the hall entrance and all
[88:58]forms must be submitted via the collection boxes and prior to Friday
[89:01]July 30th five winners will be announced after inshallah we encourage you

[90:12]notb zad put you all in fear the breaking of covenants is
[90:19]a sin God loathes he vows to punish the oppressor and the
[90:25]complicit both and know well even if a warrior is thrown off
[90:29]a tower his truth Rises after him and God's might and power
[90:36]and never is the truth to be buried below where's Hussein and
[90:39]where's yazid you will surely know please help me welcome the reciter
[90:44]of the husseini mjus brother Hassan baz with a loud Muhammad Muhammad
[90:57]m theam [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] say [Music] May the peace of
[93:15]Allah fall upon the benevolent heart of Imam Hussein May the peace
[93:30]of Allah be upon you [Music] AB as you are his vast
[93:40]mercy and the salvation of this um May the peace of Allah
[93:51]be upon you AB abdah and upon your entrusted cousin Muslim together
[94:03]a stranger you were [Music] inal thirsty you [Music] inala Mar you
[94:25]fell in remember a man known to be brave for Hussein his
[94:50]life he gave y to to IM husin to console the heart
[94:58]of and our 12th IM together remember a man known to be
[95:10]brave for Hussein his life he gave without fear he bravely F
[95:28]alone in with a painful [Music] thought what will be when Hussein
[95:45]AR how will he receive their love [Music] betrayed I'm killed betrayed
[96:07]I'm killed [Music] don't brothers and sisters before we go into the
[96:26]mus it's important for us to understand how Muslim ends up in
[96:33]kufa and how he is killed because this is the final and
[96:38]perhaps the most important Catalyst that leads to the death of Imam
[96:46]Hussein to him being stranded and martyred in carala after Imam Hussein
[96:52]Alam rejected his allegiance to yazid and the News was spreading and
[96:58]he had arrived from Medina to Mecca people especially the Elders of
[97:05]the tribes in kufa who had allegiance to Imam aliam began sending
[97:13]letters and correspondence to the Imam asking him to come to them
[97:20]and come to their aid and to rescue them from the omay
[97:23]rule amongst other things I do not want to give a lecture
[97:29]I just want to tell the historical context many of the letters
[97:37]start coming to Imam Hussein and the IM assesses the situation in
[97:41]some of these letters they tell the Imam we pray that Allah
[97:47]brings us to truth through you and we will not uphold Sal
[97:54]nor go to prayers until you are the one leading these types
[98:01]of prayers in other letters they said people have made a decision
[98:10]to follow you and they have an they have an no opinion
[98:14]and anyone else so hurry and hurry they would say to IM
[98:22]Hussein they wrote to him and in other letters and many of
[98:35]these letters were written by people who ended up fighting IM Hussein
[98:40]and I'll translate the last one the time of harvest has come
[98:46]so if you wish come to us and you shall find armed
[98:49]Warriors at At Your Service upon receiving these letters and assessing the
[98:58]situation and knowing that yazid has ordered the death of Imam Hussein
[99:02]even if he is holding on to the garbs of the Kaa
[99:07]Imam Hussein considered going to kufa on this Mission but he sent
[99:15]he appointed his cousin Muslim IB ail and Muslim IB ail was
[99:22]a heavyweight from bani Hashim he had fought with IM Ali with
[99:30]IM Hassan he was a a scholar in the faith a warrior
[99:34]a commander of War Brave kind and so when Imam husin writes
[99:41]a letter and he hands it to Muslim and he sends him
[99:48]to kufa he writes in the letters I am indeed sending you
[99:59]my brother and cousin and my trustee from amongst my from amongst
[100:03]my family he described them as a trustee and Muslim was to
[100:08]go to kufa and to assess the allegiance and the letters that
[100:13]were being given to the Imam and if he finds that that
[100:19]is truly the case then he would start preparing for the movement
[100:22]of Imam Hussein and when Muslim arrived in kufa he first resided
[100:33]in the house of alari and at that time the governor of
[100:37]kufa was an bash and man was not very strict he was
[100:45]an omad Governor but he was not very strict and so Muslim
[100:51]began moving especially with the protection of and the the help of
[100:57]alar andb and he started meeting with the tribes men and the
[101:01]elderly men and validating the allegiance of Imam Hussein and they would
[101:05]come and they would swear their allegiance and they were organizing battalions
[101:10]to help protect and defend the Imam and eventually Muslim was looking
[101:16]at a list of thousands of men perhaps 18,000 14,000 the number
[101:24]very who had given their allegiance to IM Hussein and so he
[101:34]writes a letter he writes a letter to IM Hussein saying he
[101:46]says the Scout does not lie to his family and 18,000 of
[101:53]the people of kufa have pledged allegiance to me and that means
[101:57]they pledged allegiance to Imam Hussein so he says so come when
[102:04]my letter arrives to you and as Muslims strength in in kufa
[102:09]became more apparent and was growing yazid was informed and he sent
[102:17]a letter toah IB zad who was known to be ruthless vicious
[102:22]heartless Godless and he tells IB zad to convey the urgency he
[102:30]says if you have wings then fly to kufa and remove an
[102:35]from power and take over and control the city and so Ian
[102:43]zad arrives in kufa in an Entourage of soldiers and they remove
[102:52]n man from Power he assigns men who are loyal to him
[102:58]to control the military the police and the money and then he
[103:03]begins spreading rumors and also threats that whoever stands with Muslim or
[103:10]with Hussein or loves these people or Associates with them will be
[103:14]killed when the army of sham arrives and they start brutally cracking
[103:19]down on the followers or the people who gave their allegiance to
[103:25]Imam Hussein and they also start giving away rewards and money for
[103:29]those who turn in their swords and who agree not to fight
[103:34]or not to join any movements and not to support Imam Hussein
[103:38]and at this time Muslim moves from the residence of Al MTAR
[103:44]to the residence of hanb and in the house of Han Muslim
[103:54]is protected so to get to Muslim he knows he cannot just
[103:57]raid the house of han han comes from a big tribe with
[104:03]thousands of soldiers and so he sends after Han and they tell
[104:09]him the Amir the Amir has called for you to come to
[104:15]the castle and we give you safety meaning you will come and
[104:21]you will not be harmed and so he comes to the castle
[104:24]he's forced to go to the castle where holds him and does
[104:33]not release him and then eventually hanb is killed and the thousands
[104:38]of men who were with Hani from his family do not fight
[104:42]because some of them are manipulated some of them are bribed and
[104:47]some of them are told Ohan is just visiting and he will
[104:49]stay for a few nights in the Palace of iban zad and
[104:55]so now the situation is changing and Muslim has already sent his
[105:00]letter to Imam Hussein and some of the elders and tribesmen who
[105:08]gave their allegiance to Muslim betray or they weaken or they come
[105:12]up with excuses like we will draw our swords we support you
[105:18]Muslim but we will only draw our swords when Hussein is here
[105:21]we will not draw our sword draw our swords for the representative
[105:28]of Hussein but Muslim gathers a few a couple thousand men and
[105:34]they go to the the palace the castle of iban zad they
[105:37]surround it and they want to bring Han out they want the
[105:45]release of Hani so IB zad summons a judge who was also
[105:48]bribed and he comes out and he speaks to the soldiers the
[105:55]tribe men from Han's tribe and he tells them I bear witness
[106:00]that Han is okay and take my word for it I'm a
[106:06]Pious judge leave now and hany will be will be coming to
[106:13]you soon at this time what was happening to Han he was
[106:17]being tortured and beaten and so the situation quickly deteriorates and that
[106:24]day after Muslim have in a big crowd and the rumors are
[106:26]spreading and people are being afraid and some are interested in the
[106:31]rewards and some are saying we shouldn't get involved in the politics
[106:35]and let Hussein and yazid figure it out who are we and
[106:37]they are Kings and we are regular Layman Muslim goes from being
[106:47]a leader of a large group of men to being with maybe
[106:49]20 30 followers in that group some of it dissipated some of
[106:56]them were broken apart kufa was a big city some of them
[106:59]left like Muslim IB for example when they were separated in the
[107:06]chaos and in the streets left uh kufa and made their way
[107:09]to carala to join Imam Hussein there but ultimately Muslim is now
[107:18]with a very small group and they go to pray and the
[107:22]narration tell us the Nar say that by the time Muslim was
[107:28]done with and he left theask he found himself alone in the
[107:33]streets of kuf Muslim Muhammad muham yes Muslim finds himself alone in
[107:51]the streets of Kua and after a long day and the and
[108:01]being in a big city with nowhere to go he starts walking
[108:04]in the alleys as he's walking H it's dark there's a curfew
[108:10]people are under uh military control people are not allowed to be
[108:15]out in the streets IB zad is running kufa now with an
[108:20]iron fist so Muslim is walking in the streets are Hollow and
[108:24]as he's walking he finds an elderly lady standing in front of
[108:29]her door she's waiting for her son she has a son who
[108:31]was a and she's waiting for him so he stops he says
[108:39]she says how can I help you he says do you have
[108:42]a drink of water I am thirsty her name was says yes
[108:48]she goes inside brings him water and Muslim drinks then he stands
[108:52]uh so she says uh didn't you drink he says yes she
[108:57]says then why are you standing in front of my door go
[109:02]to your family go to your home Muslim doesn't say anything she
[109:05]says again please do not stand in front of my door it's
[109:08]not proper so Muslim tells her I do not have a family
[109:20]or a house in this city I'm a stranger would you do
[109:25]me a favor and I will pay it back to you on
[109:29]the day of judgment she says on the day of judgment why
[109:33]who are you to say that you're going to pay me back
[109:34]on the day of judgment I am a stranger in your time
[109:50]without friends I walk [Music] around help me today so I may
[110:01]not hide yes the narration said that Muslim was trying now to
[110:06]cover himself protect himself until he finds a way out and goes
[110:11]to meet Imam Hussein help me today so I may hide then
[110:21]find my way back Hussein side and warn him that has so
[110:40]to mea return [Music] but it's been decreed that I like Hussein
[110:59]will bleed he says I am [Applause] Muslim is my uncle alusin
[111:08]is my cousin and I am his representative in K and I
[111:17]have been abandoned by these people and now I'm a stranger seeking
[111:25]shelter was a lover of she goes you are Muslim oh my
[111:29]God please come inside she knows that he's a fugitive so she
[111:35]takes him inside she has a small room in her house she
[111:37]hides him in that room she doesn't want her son to know
[111:44]and Muslim Muslim spends that night in worship and in some narrations
[111:47]they say he fell asleep for a bit and he saw IM
[111:56]Ali calling him to heaven when son after a few hours comes
[112:00]home he eventually learns that his mother is hiding Muslim in their
[112:05]house and so at the break of dawn he hurries to the
[112:11]castle of iban zad hoping for a large reward and he tells
[112:17]them where Muslim is hiding so IB zad dispatches his soldiers and
[112:22]when Muslim hears the sound of their armor and their horses approaching
[112:32]he prepares himself for battle he speaks he says may Allah Grant
[112:40]your mercy and may He reward your assistance to me then the
[112:43]soldiers they try to break into the house but Muslim was a
[112:50]very strong Warrior he begin to fight to fight he fights the
[112:53]off bravely and he pushes them outside of the house and the

[113:02]that Muslim displayed an unmatched level of bravery and strength against these
[113:07]soldiers and he killed many of them making it difficult for them

[113:16]wood on fire and they go to the rooftops and they send
[113:22]archers as well and other Soldiers with ston and they start waiting
[113:26]for Muslim around the corners and they throw fire lcks at him
[113:29]and they're hitting him with stones and arrows until eventually Muslim is
[113:36]exhausted he's exhausted and he cannot fight any longer but he does
[113:43]not drop his sword so they come to him and they say
[113:45]yeah Muslim we will give you safety but you're captured with stop
[113:52]fighting us So eventually Muslim accepts their safety their lies they lie
[114:01]to Muslim and they capture Muslim and then they shackle him and
[114:07]when they shackle him the people gather the people of kufa gather
[114:13]they're witnessing this Muslim looks around he looks at himself he says

[114:52]it's as if Muslim was decreed by Allah to be martyred thirsty
[114:56]like his master AB abdah Hussein will be [Music] inala then when
[115:04]Muslim saw the scene and he saw that he's been captured and
[115:10]that no one came and that the people of kufa have truly
[115:13]surrendered and turned away from ABA Abdullah he began to cry so
[115:17]some of the soldiers they say yeah Muslim the one who seeks

[115:40]crying for myself I'm crying for the stranger heading towards goofa for
[115:47]H who will be betrayed here betray they broke their word and

[116:43]greet your commander Muslim responds and says be silent he is no
[116:48]commander of mine this makes IB zad Furious he says whether you
[116:52]greet me or not you're dead either way then he gives the
[116:58]command to his soldiers to strike muslim's head from the highest tower
[117:02]of the palace yes brothers and sisters they took Muslim IB near
