[36:35]a continuation of the roman empire in the east during the mid
[36:44]ages capital city was constantin know in as istanbul in turkey and
[36:49]survived the fall of the western roman empire in the events that
[37:07]occurred in history and such events were absolutely sign to the point
[37:12]that not only they were documented in the books history also documented
[37:17]and mentioned in the holy books the bible and holy take under
[37:30]turkey asia that city is considered a holy city to the christians
[37:37]the christians consider antioch to be the second most important city after
[37:42]jerusalem simply because antioch was a main attraction for the early christian
[37:50]missionaries such as peter paul and barnabas in fact antioch is also
[37:53]an attraction to some muslim pilgrims the ones who wish to visit
[37:58]the حبيب mosk and issb of ح the city of anti and
[38:10]حبيب الار are inly in ينسين number 27 الله سبحانه وتالى of
[38:58]people follow the apostles that man is habib naar from the outskirts
[39:04]of the city of antioch who came rushing to the people after
[39:07]converting to the religion of christianity that was being preached by the
[39:12]apostles of christianity to the city of antioch and he was preaching
[39:17]to his people to follow the religion on the same level you
[39:20]will find that there was also another city considered a part of
[39:23]the roman or the byzantine empire that is also mentioned in the
[39:28]ho quran and talking about none but the city of ephesus the
[39:32]city of epus was mentioned in the quran in sur the cave
[39:38]that city on the outskirts of it mainly in the northeastern side
[39:40]of the city is where the cave is where the people of
[39:47]the cave fl to and there سانال mentions theory in ال and
[39:50]that's chapter 13 in the holy quran was named after the cave
[39:56]and on a side note by the way the city of ephesus
[40:11]other tury and tonight's part one of our discussion about the ashabul
[40:32]kahf and i would like to do so depending on the following
[40:35]points the first one i would like to reflect back on the
[40:40]verses that we began with tonight and highlight the importance of those
[40:44]verses as an opening verses of the story of the people of
[40:50]the cave and the second one i would like to shut the
[40:52]light on the dua mentioned and said by the ashabul kahf or
[40:56]the people of the cave الله سبانه وتالى veres that we mentioned
[41:08]in the begin of our tonight mentions there is a focal point
[41:12]that that would like also highlight and before would like would like
[41:33]من اياتنا عجبا there and does to us of and the inscription
[42:08]were among our wonderful signs we said last that the reason of
[42:11]the ration of these verses was or not as the توول وسه
[43:14]الكه acc that brs books chr je and الحارث عقن ابي معيطش
[43:56]main events that occurred in history and if he was able to
[44:02]reply to you then indeed he is a messenger of allah but
[44:04]if he didn't then he is only a person that just brings
[44:07]from the books of the christians and the jews so basically what
[44:10]we need to understand is that the story of the people of
[44:15]the cave is so significant to the point that the jews and
[44:19]the christians consider it as um basically as as a credibility or
[44:24]as a story that gives credit to the mage prophet عل meaning
[44:30]that how do you find out theage of the prophet is autic
[44:33]simply if he knows that one of them one of the points
[44:37]that if he knows them is the story of the people of
[44:40]the cave and that's why how significant is this story in particular
[44:43]and الله سانال بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم do you suppose that the
[44:47]companions of the cave and the were among our wonderful signs meaning
[44:55]what meaning that oh muhammad if the chr and the jews atic
[45:06]to let know that this is the only wonderful sign this is
[45:13]the only miraculous that we have mean the that we provide with
[45:18]is contain so miraculous signs as
[45:30]اصحا من اياتنا ع makes outside laws of physics on earth that
[45:39]breaks the law physic on earth and considered miracle soet is do
[45:49]not think that you in term people of cave wonder sign as
[46:00]aof of your muhammad secondly you would find that when the people
[46:05]came back and they asked the prophet about those the questions it
[46:11]is mentioned in the books of history and narration that the prophet
[46:15]took about 15 days to receive the revelation of allah سانه wala
[46:19]and then reply to the people of qu this time many of
[46:26]the people of qu said you know meer سهال teach the notion
[46:37]of pati sometimes the best reply is to give when you take
[46:41]your time and you rep properly and perly سبحانه وتالى said as
[46:47]we in the a do you suppose that the companions of the
[46:50]cave and inscription so first he said the companions of the cave
[46:56]so he refer to them as as companion of the cave he
[47:00]identified them as a group of people a group of men that
[47:04]he identified them with the cave that they f to that they
[47:08]seeked refuge in a cave is what basically a cave as a
[47:14]natural chamber or a chamber that is present in either a mountain
[47:16]or hill or a cff and that cham the major times made
[47:25]natural of the cave now there's another here there is another point
[47:40]that is mentioned and the commentators of the holy quan have a
[47:43]bit of a dispute when it comes to this allah say انح
[47:48]so he didn't say only the cave he said and inscription some
[47:54]of the com of the ho said that the people of the
[47:59]cave are different from the people of the inscription but the maor
[48:02]of the commentaries of ho qu from school of thought they came
[48:06]to a conclusion that says no they are exactly the same allah
[48:09]when he said the cave and the inscription he meant the same
[48:14]exact people and the same exact incident that took place in the
[48:19]same exact place and the cave why the inscription is they wrote
[48:23]their names on them so their names were carved on the inscription
[48:26]of that cave and that's the ver secondly you find that allah
[48:33]refer to them first as companions right he said as الكفي the
[48:37]companions of the cave yet in the second verse he said اذ
[48:43]اولفت الى الكهف when the youth took refuge in the cave so
[48:46]first of all he set about them as what he described them
[48:50]as being companions second verse he described them as being what youth
[48:54]what does that mean and this moves us to our second point
[48:56]of our discussion tonight are companions and then hees as companions of
[49:10]the cave are group came and became friends and companions because of
[49:17]one cause that together and thata none but faith that these people
[49:26]these belied the one god now since they believed in one god
[49:30]they combined together they came together arguably the number was seven seven
[49:35]men they came together under the banner of what of faith and
[49:40]this is a very clear point to us you find that in
[49:42]the islamic perspective the best type of companionship of friendship is what
[49:51]is the one that is origin or is based upon the idea
[49:54]of faith and this isam strive to achieve with the early stages
[49:59]of always bring the companions from different parts of the regard of
[50:05]their races regardless of their backgrounds and their nationalities and bring them
[50:10]all together under the banner of islam and faith and the best
[50:14]type of companionship you find that the most noble type of companionship
[50:18]that lasts is the one that is based on faith the one
[50:22]that has no materialistic um gains behind it all under الله سبحانه
[51:00]make and sisters that ised form companion allah سانه def them by
[51:08]the companion companions of the cave since they reach ref the cave
[51:12]so the thing that really combined them together and the place that
[51:16]combined them together was that cave those people let go of every
[51:20]single materialistic aspect of their life they were considered one of the
[51:23]nobles of the society believe it or not back then and alli
[51:36]the migration صل علم from find the in isam that was ever
[51:43]formed was as see this is as historic trend there differ historic
[52:07]event that ur again historic trend that ur back in history that
[52:12]qu mentions yet it would be repeated again maybe not obviously with
[52:16]the same personas but the same idea ander to as a historical
[52:22]trend rep and find in the early stages of upon the migration
[52:29]of the prophet from to there were people companions that immigrated from
[52:34]different side of the world some of them immigrated from the roman
[52:38]empire some of them from the persian empire such as sal muhammadi
[52:42]or sal and some of them from abia right such habashi for
[52:46]instance or even and so forth those people migrated from to the
[52:56]became over could those people came together and they chose aj to
[53:09]be their home arguably speaking some of them count up to 300
[53:14]ins رول الله صل عليه وسلم order east cor of which was
[53:23]means trch theck you know that in many of our backyards we
[53:31]form called the deck just built by two by four isn't it
[53:37]find that عل ordered that there was a deck nor cor of
[53:39]side of during the er he order that should be covered with
[53:44]palm leaves so it can provide shade hence it was called meaning
[53:48]the shade and those people came together from different sides of the
[53:51]world and believe not ended up living in the and they formed
[54:05]but who lived inside why because those people ins and they in
[54:14]the and liv acc صل علسلم them a lot of attention why
[54:38]because these people they let go of everything in their lives their
[54:40]previous lives they let go of everything they left their families they
[54:43]l their tribes they l their cities they their countries and they
[54:47]l the previous ideas and the ide that used to adop and
[54:51]they came adopted the religion of islam and then dedicated themselves to
[54:54]the service of the only hence you would find that many of
[55:00]them became scholars in the religion of islam many of them became
[55:03]hadith narrators since as i said they had access to the prophet
[55:05]sallai wasallam so that was considered the first fraternity in the religion
[55:09]of islam which tells me what is that when allah subhan wa
[55:12]taala is talking about the companions of the cave and he refers
[55:15]to them as companions at first meaning that they are people who
[55:19]group of men who came together upon the base of faith since
[55:25]the only thing that combined them together was the افت الى الكهف
[56:25]life influenced by the majority which is notan that upon me to
[56:43]some else that i need find proper place another place me ra
[56:50]my family and my children these people those youth they seeked refuge
[56:58]they took refuge in that cave so can you imagine is that
[57:04]they let go of everything behind them they left all the um
[57:08]the life that they're living the luxurious life that they were living
[57:12]and then they took refuge in we a cave which tells me
[57:16]what which tells me that they had this notion of tawakkul to
[57:22]the point that they found a cave a safe place and a
[57:24]safe haven more preferred th
[57:58]allah then indeed prison is better than being tempted in such a
[58:02]way meaning sometimes as human beings what we might find as obstacles
[58:10]and challenges trials and tribulations in our life they might be a
[58:15]rah from allah subh taala for what we might be able to
[58:17]be tempted with and fall into haram so sometimes a trouble or
[58:22]a tribulation that you go through or an experience that you go
[58:25]through which is considered challenging اللهانه و ح الله a cave a
[58:37]cave that is absolutely cut from any means of life there is
[58:40]nothing in a cave inside a cave there is absolut nothing there
[58:44]no water right the cave isly there's no means of life in
[58:51]general but they left it all quran says when the youth took
[58:58]refuge in the cave and then he refer to him as youth
[59:02]as why see here there's many opinions some say that those people
[59:06]of the cave the companions of the cave were actually youth they
[59:11]were young and they were young in age there's a had by
[59:13]imam salat wasam that says said no they weren't youth in particular
[59:20]they were mature men in their middle age and there upon when
[59:24]they came together for the love of allah is that why because
[59:39]see faith gives you that mo you to always do always and
[59:51]اللهه الذوا ووا الص allah menan without meaning what meaning that iman
[60:01]should give you the power should give you the motivation to always
[60:04]w to work always want to be a part of always want
[60:07]to be active and that's why it's important to always be active
[60:10]in the community that you live amongst and there upon allah refer
[60:15]to them as youth some opinions suggest that no they were actually
[60:18]youth but not to too young nevertheless we need to understand from
[60:22]this is that allah refer to them as youth simply because of
[60:27]the energy of ofir and seek cave the outcome escape would be
[60:46]they didn't think of that the first thing that did is they
[60:50]were enough
[61:24]رشدا that they refer to allah as their lord as the one
[61:30]that they found remember when we explain that notion the difference between
[61:34]allah and isn't it so they refer to allah our lord
[61:40]مند gr us a mercy from yourself so the first thing that
[61:42]they ask for is what as a mercy from allah subhan wa
[61:46]taala why you see because at that point leaving everything behind they
[61:50]could only rely on the mercy of allah subh waal they can
[61:55]only rely on gr منر الونر قل اق do they not the
[62:30]on the hearts are the most beautiful thing about the is reflect
[62:35]upon it so many similarities in the holy there so many things
[62:38]that sometimes you would open a verse and you don't understand what
[62:41]it means but the further you read in the quran you would
[62:43]compare it to the verse that you justed with and that's the
[62:45]beauty of itak focus on that why because him and his wifee
[63:02]قي want you to break the law ofic i want i want
[63:08]something miraculous from you hence i will pray for that because logically
[63:12]speaking he can't a that that's said the
[63:25]من لدنك رحمه mean i will personally interv in قال ربنا لنا
[64:10]in our aff help us grant us a righteous way on our
[64:13]ordeal basically meaning that not only that they ask for mercy but
[64:20]they ask to be guided with righteousness they ask fortitude what is
[64:25]the difference rashad was mention ag matur open
[65:06]المحسنين matous age maturity mind matur are mat ise of matur religion
[65:36]of islam is that a ised a r but adult in not
[65:41]age and not physical ability and not in body but even that
[65:44]level of maturity in terms of intell many people mas grow physically
[65:51]and gr age but the reality is they never grt inter jordan
[65:56]peterson um who is a clinical psychologist he has a very interesting
[66:01]theory when it comes to men he calls it the peter pan
[66:05]theory peter pan as many of you may know is that boy
[66:07]that never wanted to grow up he never wanted to grow he
[66:11]never wanted to become mature he always stay little simply why because
[66:14]the role model that peter pan has in his mind of a
[66:20]mature man is captain hook and captain hook is an evil role
[66:22]model you see many men sometimes as a result evene always back
[66:39]teeners the age of0 between the ages of 21 and 40 now
[66:45]after depends ifan man you go back ust always age 40 i'm
[66:58]king but my grand used always say you know always go back
[67:04]tobes on the other hand you find whatsa is that when he
[67:09]came of age meaning the age of maturity and became matured that's
[67:13]when we provided him what h we gave him judgement and knowledge
[67:18]you see not only knowledge and this is of is that able
[67:25]and and very may life first year iud was man ح عبدبي
[67:46]ح ع the thing l of maturity said that's interesting you're right
[67:59]he said but i'll tell you what's better better than this said
[68:02]what he said to always act upon maturity meaning many of us
[68:09]might the age of maturity but when we are put under the
[68:12]test we lose our temper on the spot and we start acting
[68:18]immature i'll give you an example see freud the famous psychiatrist one
[68:21]time wanted to teach he wanted to teach students a lesson so
[68:26]he took them the ro and then he made them observe people
[68:28]and then there was a man approaching them that man was very
[68:34]well dressed and he was carrying a bag mean he looked like
[68:37]a business man a man of nobility freud told the students he
[68:41]said what do you think of that man how does he look
[68:43]like they said no he looks like a proper mature man he's
[68:46]a noble man he said now watch how i will make magic
[68:48]they said what do you mean he carried his stick and he
[68:51]just pok the man with the stick on the spot the man
[68:56]dropped down the bag and attacked fr human can matur but you
[69:03]might l age that maturity to act upon maturity that's challenge to
[69:08]always act upon your intellect not be drawn or be driven into
[69:11]having a bad temper and then acting upon your emotional perspective and
[69:17]many of us sometimes to lose our maturity when we act upon
[69:21]our tions many of us might take things personal el look examination
[69:35]many people sword att عليه عليه wom اللهانه وتال ولما بغ and
[70:12]knowledge and th do re the virtuous there is a that isut
[70:17]simar this one with a there
[71:26]حبيب مظهر الله وسلام عليه and focus on this see many of
[71:40]us now you find that there is this notion now in day
[71:43]age where men are looking for their identity and many videos are
[71:51]in this many about value man for instance the alp for instance
[72:23]عليه السلام ح was feeling proud his companion was fighting courageously and
[72:30]a said يا حبيب ما يزين الرجال oh hab what decorates a
[72:34]man what are the characteristics that define a man hab replies back
[72:42]by saying what he replied back by say العلم واللم والشجاعه the
[72:48]and second forar حل and the third thing is what شجا bravery
[73:28]عليه so speak agrees to say agrees opinion is mirac could youing
[73:38]in fr الزم عال الشف that compare everything to our awaited imam
[73:43]he amongst us could you imaging in front الزم عال الشف and
[73:49]him asking you a question to test your knowledge and then he
[73:52]smiles and agrees to you what an honor
[74:35]to the topic said gr us mercy from your وه لنا من
[74:44]امرنا رشدا mean and we seek refuge in this cave we want
[74:57]your mercy but we also want to be guided righteous we want
[75:02]to be able to take the proper decision the right decision because
[75:06]it's easy to seek refuge maybe sometimes and let go sure it's
[75:10]a sacrifice but then what they wanted more is know to be
[75:15]righteous guided meaning that they want to take the proper decision that
[75:19]suits their condition that they're in right now which is a very
[75:24]difficult condition in this regard
[75:34]الكهف سنين عددا years الله فضربنا على اذانهم of h come sur
[76:03]but it is always considered weaker than the object you h it
[76:09]with meaning what mean the wisdom behind hitting mean yes you can
[76:14]hit but there a wisdom behind hitting when you hit something the
[76:18]logical perspective says what that in order for you to cause damage
[76:21]you need to hit that object with object stronger than it leese
[76:30]take h that very good mas may allah lengthen your lives you
[76:37]have the perfect aim that it def the law of physics of
[76:39]ours iwear to god chases you up the stairs have you ever
[76:44]seen ching you up the stairs no wonder i physics i swear
[76:51]no wonder pleas don't take more ide on the you know you
[76:57]guys do it enough alah so basically definition of hitting is to
[77:00]hit another object right but when you hit so for example if
[77:04]i were to have a rock right in front of me and
[77:08]i grab a wooden staff and i try to hit the rock
[77:09]with the wooden staff aiming to cause damage to the rock is
[77:14]this logical no it doesn't make sense and therefore for example the
[77:17]people of construction may know better is that when you wantan to
[77:19]hit the nail you hit the nail with what with a hammer
[77:23]you don't hit the hammer with the nail isn't it why because
[77:28]سانتال فضنا على ا not asic we put them sleave years and
[77:37]the reas سحانه وتالى meaning that there was a forceful act that
[77:44]forc them into to sleep and that act is outside the law
[77:49]of physics why because they end up sleeping as we will the
[77:53]foll say ears why is putting sleep he said their ears simply
[78:11]because the ear the sense of hearing is the first s that
[78:18]is activated in as a child when you come to but the
[78:33]first thing is the ear of the so basically allah me here
[78:43]that their ears your ear the power of hearing is the most
[78:47]thing that stays with you even after you sleep so when sleep
[78:51]the of sleep ex for and then you wake up and you
[79:05]know i repeat my because i sleep the first thing ask is
[79:12]what did you he the he tri wake up how until you
[79:26]finally hear so as long as the ability of hearing is activated
[79:32]a human being won be able to be
[79:45]put them basically huse the l for them on ears they can
