[1:01]All praise is due to the Lord, master of all the worlds.
[1:05]And peace and blessings be on all his prophets, especially the final
[1:12]prophet, the prophet Muhammad.
[1:14]My respected brothers and sisters revered by millions in the world today
[1:29]as being known as the second and third califfs.
[1:32]When one examines the history of the religion of Islam and when
[1:39]one examines the portrayal of the two, indeed you find that of
[1:44]course there is a difference of opinion that exists between the Sunni
[1:48]and the Shia schools concerning them.
[1:49]And many times people ask the Shia a simple question and that
[1:53]is why do you not revere the in the same way that
[2:01]you revere for example the holy household the and one of the
[2:08]main reasons that is postulated is that when one looks at the
[2:12]one finds that never on the battlefield were they known to have
[2:19]fled.
[2:19]They did not flee from any battle and nor in any way
[2:22]whatsoever did they neglect the duties of being around the infallible of
[2:28]their time or the one chosen by Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala because
[2:35]without doubt one of the litmus tests for any of the early
[2:40]Muslims is not who they're related to but rather their stands in
[2:45]some of the most critical moments In the history of the religion
[2:49]of Islam, many times in the Shia community, there are discussions concerning
[2:56]battles such as the battles of the battles of Kak, the battles
[3:03]of and other battles such as the battles of Hanim.
[3:05]And many times you will hear a discussion concerning those who remained
[3:10]firm on the battlefield versus those who ran away from the battlefield.
[3:17]Someone could easily turn around and say even if someone ran away
[3:21]from the battlefield at the end of the day they're human and
[3:26]they make mistakes.
[3:25]We find that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala within the Quran pretty much
[3:32]exposes those who don't turn up for war.
[3:35]those who turn up for war and then run away from the
[3:41]battlefield.
[3:39]At the end of the day, God could have easily decided not
[3:46]to discuss the negatives of a day like or a day like
[3:54]or a day like or a day like God could have easily
[3:56]said that there were certain people on that day who were very
[4:03]firm in their belief and God could have dismissed the lack of
[4:07]a performance or the bad performance of those who may have ran
[4:10]away from the battlefield.
[4:13]But we find that within the holy Quran on numerous occasions the
[4:18]Quran is a wonderful source for the s and the biography of
[4:23]Allah s and in the Quran virtually every of the main battles
[4:27]of the life of s is discussed better is discussed in the
[4:37]Quran is discussed in the Quran is discussed in the Quran is
[4:41]discussed in the Quran.
[4:45]Tabuk is discussed in the Quran.
[4:47]M is discussed in the Quran.
[4:49]Hain is discussed in the Quran.
[4:51]Of course, some of these are discussed by name and some of
[4:57]these are discussed with a particular understanding that emerges about that battle
[5:04]through the world of taps.
[5:08]So for example, bad is mentioned clearly within the holy Quran.
[5:13]Uh is not mentioned by name in the Quran.
[5:18]But what occurred at the battle of is mentioned in the Quran
[5:25]is mentioned with the word.
[5:29]So there therefore surah 33 of the holy Quran which is known
[5:34]as surah is in reference to the battle of kandakab confederates a
[5:39]group of parties is a party a group of parties are known
[5:47]as and these parties had all become a coalition to fight is
[5:53]not mentioned by name in the Quran but is alluded to in
[5:57]verses of the Quran.
[5:58]The battle of Hunain is mentioned by name in the Quran.
[6:03]Therefore, we have two battles that one may say are directly mentioned
[6:06]by name in the Quran.
[6:08]The battle of Badr and the battle of Hunain.
[6:13]Those two are mentioned by name in the Quran.
[6:17]Other battles are not mentioned by name in the Quran but are
[6:20]alluded to in the world of hadith or in the world of
[6:25]what's interesting as the first point for this analysis is that there's
[6:36]a portrayal that all the earliest companions who had converted to Islam
[6:42]of the muajiron and of the ansar in Medina All of them
[6:45]were the most steadfast in faith.
[6:50]All are painted with the most glorious picture.
[6:54]And the reality is that when one looks in the Quran, it
[6:58]is actually the complete opposite.
[6:59]Only a few are steadfast in faith.
[7:02]For years, you'll see in the Sunni world that they're told that
[7:08]the Sahabah were the firmst and that they were the most loyal.
[7:11]But you'll see that in the Quran, Allah subhana wa ta'ala makes
[7:16]clear on numerous occasions that the companions actually let down and not
[7:27]just let down.
[7:28]Some of them in some cases would make excuses for why they
[7:33]wouldn't want to turn up to the battlefield alongside the holy prophet
[7:36]peace be upon him and his family.
[7:38]I give you an example of one surah which I'd like us
[7:44]to zoom in on and that is in surah 9 surah toba
[7:49]the only surah of the Quran that doesn't mention or doesn't begin
[7:53]with the wordahman verse 118 of the surah you'll see that Allah
[7:59]subhana wa ta'ala actually blatantly exposes three of the companions of Allah
[8:07]s who did not join Allah sall Allah for the battle of
[8:10]Tabuk.
[8:11]I'm just giving an example here of how the portrayal of the
[8:13]ultimate decency of the Sahabah as if they were all the most
[8:19]loyal and they were withas through thick and thin and even if
[8:25]a rumor went around that had died or something had happened to
[8:27]him they would have remained the firmst couldn't have been further from
[8:34]the truth.
[8:31]Look here in surah 9 verse 118 of the Quran.
[8:36]My dear brothers and sisters, if we zoom into this reference, you'll
[8:39]see and on the three who were left behind until what?
[8:53]Until the earth became straightened on them.
[9:04]Look what the Quran says.
[9:07]And on the three who were left behind until the earth became
[9:12]straightened on them, not withstanding its spaciousness, and even their selves were
[9:16]also straightened on them, that they thought that there was no refuge
[9:21]from God, but unto God.
[9:26]Allah subhana wa ta'ala then turns towards them in mercy that they
[9:31]might to turn towards him.
[9:32]Verily Allah is oft returning to mercy and the most merciful.
[9:35]Here the Quran is saying that three companions of Allah sallallahu alaihi
[9:40]when others went towards the battle of Tabuk blatantly did not turn
[9:44]up and there were so many excuses that were given by the
[9:51]Sahabah for not turning up.
[9:51]The Quran openly exposes those who didn't turn up and the different
[9:56]reasons that they gave.
[9:59]Some said it's too hot.
[10:00]Some say the travel's too far.
[10:00]Some said we are away from our wives.
[10:02]Others said that we might get affected by the Roman ladies and
[10:07]how beautiful they look.
[10:08]This whole idea therefore that every companion of Allah sallallahu alaihi was
[10:14]the first in line in battle and ready to give their lives
[10:17]for sui couldn't have been further from the truth.
[10:22]And that's why one of the most blatant instances where the Quran
[10:31]exposes the behavior of the companions of Allah as the battle of
[10:37]the battle of couldn't have been more clear in the way that
[10:44]the Quran provides us with a portrayal of how this important moment
[10:50]in the early years of Medina When the Quraysh are angry that
[10:55]is in the ascendancy, he's extremely powerful.
[10:58]They could see that he has managed to in a way persuade
[11:06]the people of Medina to take him as their leader whether they
[11:09]believe in him as a prophet or not.
[11:11]They took him as the leader of Medina.
[11:13]You see that in this surah when the army of Abu Sufyan
[11:20]and Hinn and the others when they all decide that we're going
[11:23]to fight the prophet in the battle of the prophet peace be
[11:30]upon him and his family at Badr had 313 companions against 950
[11:36]from the opposition in the battle of Rasoolah had 700 companions ions
[11:45]maybe 750 companions.
[11:47]Those 750 companions when the Sunni world looks at those 700 750
[11:55]they'll portray to you this image.
[11:57]These are the strongest and these are the bravest and they would
[12:01]never let down.
[12:04]They would all be there alongside him.
[12:09]They were more in number now as well.
[12:13]If you come to surah 3 of the Quran, you come here
[12:21]to verse 123.
[12:18]Allah mentions that Allah subhana wa ta'ala gave you victory at you
[12:29]were weak.
[12:32]So take shelter in Allah so that you may be thankful.
[12:37]Notice that they were much stronger army now than the army of
[12:45]the companions at the battle of Bad.
[12:46]They had to fight an opposition that was maybe six times bigger
[12:53]than them.
[12:55]There were about 4,000 of the opposition in the battle of 4,000
[12:59]in the army of the Qur.
[13:02]And God knows how many of the hypocrites from Medina have joined
[13:06]them.
[13:07]And they're fighting the army of Allah sall.
[13:09]And in the army of Allah, the prophet peace be upon him
[13:16]and his family had of course as the main soldiers in the
[13:21]battle.
[13:22]A number of his famous companions who were present in that battle.
[13:25]Abu Bakr was present in that battle.
[13:28]Omar was present in that battle.
[13:29]Aman was present in that battle.
[13:31]Tala was present in that battle.
[13:32]Abiwak was present in that battle.
[13:42]Imam was present in that battle.
[13:41]Hamz Abdalib and others of the companions of Allah sallallahu alaihi were
[13:50]all present in the battle on that day.
[13:52]You found that the Muslims were in their ascendancy in that battle.
[13:57]Everything was going plain sailing.
[14:01]And when everything's going plain sailing for you, you normally imagine you
[14:06]might sometimes rest on your laurels.
[14:08]Victory is so easy.
[14:09]And the prophet peace be upon him, his family said to them,
[14:14]"Whatever happens, do not leave the mountain of because one of the
[14:19]leaders of the opposition on that day will come round from the
[14:25]side to come and attack the mountain." And unfortunately that is what
[14:31]takes place in which way?
[14:32]There was a cry that emerged that Allah sallallahu alaihi has been
[14:39]killed.
[14:38]When that cry emerged that the prophet peace be upon him has
[14:44]been killed.
[14:44]It came because of a number of reasons.
[14:45]One of them as is stipulated is that Abbar looked like and
[14:52]that when he died some people started saying that Sah had died
[14:57]and therefore you found that some companions were in shock upon hearing
[15:04]the news that the prophet peace be upon him and his family
[15:09]has died.
[15:07]Now if they were firm there were a number of things that
[15:12]they would do.
[15:12]One of the things that they would do would of course be
[15:15]that even if the prophet peace be upon him's family has died,
[15:17]Islam, the religion still has to be protected.
[15:22]Number two is that you try and protect the other companions who
[15:28]are now being attacked from all angles where the Quraysh suddenly gained
[15:34]the ascendancy.
[15:34]But when you look at the Quran, you'll see that the Quran,
[15:39]what does it say?
[15:40]There's this interesting verse in verse 142 that begins the summary of
[15:47]what's taken place at the battle of look over here.
[15:49]It says, "Imagine you Muslims that you will all enter paradise when
[16:11]God knows those of you who strive hard in his way and
[16:15]he knows the steadfast." All of you think that just because you're
[16:20]around the prophet peace be upon him's family that you're all going
[16:23]to go to paradise.
[16:23]Just because you are called Muslim and you're around him, that's enough
[16:28]for you to enter paradise, which of course is a lesson for
[16:30]all of us, my dear brothers and sisters, that just because we
[16:34]are called Muslims.
[16:35]Is that enough for us to enter paradise or does that require
[16:40]knowledge, require wisdom, require sincerity, introspection, contemplation, reflection, learning?
[16:48]Quran in surah 3:142 it said to them you see here imagine
[16:58]that you Muslims you all imagine that you think you'll just enter
[17:02]paradise God knows those of you who strive hard in his way
[17:07]and God knows also the steadfast and then look at the next
[17:11]verse And you indeed desire for death before you met it.
[17:23]So indeed now you've seen it even while you look at it.
[17:29]Why do you flinch now?
[17:30]What's happening?
[17:31]There's a cry that your prophet could possibly have died.
[17:35]The same prophet who's told you whatever you do to not run
[17:38]away.
[17:39]Do not leave this battlefield.
[17:40]This is a test for you.
[17:43]Those of you who strive hard versus those whose belief is shaky.
[17:46]Look at the next verse, my dear brothers and sisters.
[18:10]And Muhammad is not but a messenger of God.
[18:14]Other messengers have passed away before him.
[18:17]Therefore, if he dies or he is slain, will you turn upon
[18:25]your heels?
[18:24]Who's that talking to?
[18:28]talking to the glorious companions of Allah Sall who have blatantly just
[18:34]turned on their heels because of one cry that their prophet peace
[18:37]be upon him and his family has died.
[18:40]The companions have all of a sudden started running away from the
[18:49]battle.
[18:48]Do you know how many companions do you think out of those
[18:53]700 stayed with the prophet peace be upon him and his family?
[18:57]I defy anyone to find me that there were more than 30
[19:02]out of 700 who stayed with the prophet and 30 is the
[19:10]maximum.
[19:07]There are let's say a minimum of 15 who stayed with the
[19:13]prophet peace be upon him and his family because see those three
[19:16]groups on the day of those three groups on the day of
[19:24]we need to understand that they are divided the first group are
[19:28]the ones who remained firm out of the 700.
[19:32]Second group are those who ran away but came back and the
[19:37]third are those who ran and ran and ran and ran.
[19:42]See the three groups.
[19:45]One group are those who remain firm.
[19:48]This is not me speaking.
[19:50]The Quran is saying Muhammad is but messenger of God.
[19:52]Messengers have come before him.
[19:55]If he is killed or he's slain, do you turn back on
[19:58]your heels?
[20:00]Is that what iman you have that all of a sudden you
[20:04]are now running and running and running away?
[20:06]If you look at this hadith inah Bkari my dear brothers and
[20:14]sisters join me over here in Sah Bkari let's come to this
[20:18]hadith please the translation and the meanings of Sah Bkari Arabic English
[20:22]volume 4 the hadith 2338 to 3848 translated by Dr.
[20:30]Muhammad Musin Khan Dar Salam publishers and distributors PO Box 2273 Riyad
[20:38]printed in July 1997 printed supervised by Abd Malik Mojah everyone come
[20:44]with me please the book of what the book of jihad fighting
[20:53]for Allah's cause clear hadith number 280 05.
[21:00]What does this hadith say and bin Malik narrates?
[21:08]My uncle was absent from the battle of Badr.
[21:18]He said, "Oh Allah's messenger, I was absent from the first battle
[21:22]you fought against.
[21:24]By Allah, if Allah gives me a chance to fight al-Mus, no
[21:30]doubt Allah will see how bravely I will fight.
[21:34]On the day of when the Muslims turned their backs and fled,
[21:38]how clear is that?
[21:41]The day of the companions of Allah turned their backs and fled.
[21:50]Look at the Arabic.
[21:54]What did it say?
[21:53]The Arabic said very clearly, you could all see over here.
[22:00]What does the the hadith say?
[22:05]The hadith says, you will see when on the day of when
[22:20]the Muslims turned their backs and fled, he said, "Oh Allah, I
[22:27]apologize to you for what these i.e.
[22:30]his companions have done and I denounce what these mushri have done.
[22:39]What does the Arabic say?
[22:56]Oh Allah, I denounce I apologize to you for what these companions
[23:03]have done.
[23:05]He later goes on to say, if you read further down the
[23:12]hadith, we found more than 80 wounds by swords and arrows on
[23:16]his body on one of these companions.
[23:22]Who were these companions who ran away on the day of?
[23:27]We said that of the 30 or of the companions that were
[23:37]there at 700, you will find that there was a number of
[23:41]them who were the steadfast ones.
[23:45]They are the ones who not for a moment ran away or
[23:51]turned their backs on of them.
[23:56]For example of that group let's say is of course Imam.
[24:01]Then there were those who ran away but they came back.
[24:09]Of them for example ran away came back.
[24:18]Ran away came back.
[24:22]of them were those who ran and ran and ran away from
[24:27]that battle.
[24:28]Come with me here to see who are these who are mentioned
[24:33]amongst those who ran away on the day of.
[24:42]Join me as we look at this book over here.
[24:45]My dear brothers and sisters, reasons and occasions of revelation of the
[24:56]holy Quran by who?
[25:05]By translated by Dr.
[25:06]Muhammad Sharif.
[25:09]All of you can see when was this published my dear brothers
[25:14]and sisters.
[25:15]You will see over here the year 2015 printed in Lebanon.
[25:23]Come with me to the as you know that this particular book
[25:30]is a book that examines the reasons of the revelations of verses
[25:35]of the Quran.
[25:36]Come with me here.
[25:40]Page 85.
[25:42]Surah Almran.
[25:40]All of you could see this verse 144, the verses that we've
[25:46]just been examining.
[25:46]Muhammad is no more than a messenger.
[25:48]And indeed, many messengers have passed away before him.
[25:53]If he dies or is killed, will you then turn back on
[25:56]your heels as disbelievers?
[26:00]And he who turns back on his heels, he will cause no
[26:06]harm to Allah in the least.
[26:07]And Allah will give reward to those who are grateful.
[26:12]Look at what it says here.
[26:14]It is narrated on the authority of Omar that he said we
[26:21]left the messenger of Allah on the day of we left the
[26:30]messenger of Allah on the day of who's saying this Omar Katab
[26:36]we left the messenger meaning not just him a group of those
[26:44]with him who would later on be known as the most loyal
[26:48]their faith unbroken unshakable.
[26:53]Omar Katab says come back to it.
[26:54]We left the messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi on the day of
[26:58]and when I ascended the mountain I heard the Jews saying Muhammad
[27:01]was killed.
[27:02]I said I would chop off the head of anyone whom I
[27:06]hear saying that Muhammad was killed.
[27:07]I looked and behold the messenger of Allah and the people were
[27:10]returning.
[27:11]On that occasion, Allah revealed this Quranic verse.
[27:18]Imagine here my dear brothers and sisters that is amongst those who
[27:27]clearly says that we left the messenger of Allah.
[27:29]The hadith or the tap says that eventually Omar returned.
[27:35]But the portrayal that Omar Katab was not of those who fled
[27:44]the battlefield.
[27:43]This is a reason for a person to understand the contrary.
[27:49]The Omar was of those who leftoolah and was not of those
[27:57]therefore in the group.
[27:57]at the very least who remains steadfast with the prophet peace be
[28:03]upon him and his family through thick and thin in the most
[28:08]dangerous period of this battle.
[28:10]That's one.
[28:11]Another one who ran away on the day of was bin Aman
[28:18]bin Aman the third Khalifa.
[28:21]I want you to all come with me over here.
[28:24]My dear brothers and sisters, join me as I look at the
[28:28]English translation of Jammedi compiled by immedi translated by Abu Khal.
[28:43]A hadith edited and referenced by Abu Tah.
[28:47]Final review by Islamic research section.
[28:51]Dar Salam.
[28:53]What year was this printed over here?
[28:55]Dar Salam.
[28:56]As you could see, publishers first edition, November 2007, supervised by Abd
[29:04]Malik Mujah.
[29:03]Come with me here.
[29:08]Hadith number 3,76, page 380.
[29:13]Abu come here and see the chapter the three objections of the
[29:19]Egyptian come to 3706.
[29:22]You see over here the hadith my dear brothers and sisters from
[29:27]Abdah Moab a man from amongst the people of Egypt performed Hajj
[29:35]to the house and saw a group of people sitting.
[29:39]So he said, "Who are these?" They said, "The Quraysh." He said,
[29:45]"So who is this old man?" They said, "Ibin Omar Abdullahbin Omar."
[29:49]So he went to him and said, "I will ask you about
[29:56]something.
[29:53]So inform me.
[29:55]I ask you by Allah, by the sanctity of this house, do
[30:02]you know that man fled on the day of the battle of?"
[30:05]How clear can I be?
[30:10]Do you know that man fled on the day of the battle
[30:18]of Come back to the hadith?
[30:23]He said yes.
[30:23]He said, "Do you know that he was absent from the pledge
[30:28]of alan that he did not witness it?" He said, "Yes." He
[30:34]said, "Do you know that he was absent on the day of
[30:36]the battle of Badr and did not participate in it?" He said,
[30:41]"Yes." So he said, "Allah is great." So Ibn Omar said to
[30:44]him, "Come so I can clarify to you what you've asked for."
[30:48]As for his fleeing on the day of the battle of read
[31:11]as for his fleeing on the day of the battle of then
[31:17]I bear witness that Allah has pardoned him and forgiven him said
[31:23]Iban Omar you want to bear witness Wallah doesn't mean anything to
[31:30]me.
[31:30]I must be clear.
[31:31]I do believe that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala definitely kept the door
[31:38]open for people to come back to the path and perform Toba
[31:46]after the ridiculous situation of the battle of At the end of
[31:49]the day we cannot say that I make a mistake Allah keeps
[31:52]the door open for me but if someone else does a mistake
[31:56]no but the reality is that Abdullah bin Omar knew that amongst
[32:04]the questions people kept asking is that if Omar and Oman are
[32:09]so brave and so loyal, how could they have fled and ran
[32:16]away from the battlefield when Sall could have been alone?
[32:21]Why?
[32:20]Because the battlefield was a major test of someone's im.
[32:26]Even Imm Hussein in the leadup to Karbala looked at those around
[32:31]him and said, "If you want, go home.
[32:35]They've come for me.
[32:36]All of you can return." Why does im Hussein say that his
[32:44]companions are the most loyal?
[32:44]Because those companions through thick and thin, through starvation and thirst, through
[32:53]trial and tribulation remained alongside Imm Hussein.
[32:57]Whereas in this hadith clearly years after the battle of the Muslims
[33:07]are still questioning one another that man if he is a khalifa
[33:13]that we all praise him to be what happened on that day
[33:15]when he was of those who ran away ran away from the
[33:25]battle of Omar ran away from the battle of Come with me
[33:33]again if you want to see what's mentioned again in the hadith
[33:37]concerning Osman.
[33:39]You'll see that once again the discussion is clear for all to
[33:43]see that would look around him and see that those companions who
[33:55]everybody thought were the most loyal had left him.
[33:59]Come here with me alkari.
[34:00]My dear brothers and sisters Arabic English volume 5 had 3849 to
[34:05]4473.
[34:07]Which edition?
[34:09]Come here.
[34:11]July printed in July 1997 printing supervised by Abd Malik Mujah come
[34:16]with me to page 40 the virtues of the companions of the
[34:22]prophet peace be upon him and his family again you'll see the
[34:26]hadith in Bkari let's see what it says number 3699 narrated the
[34:32]son of who the son of Moab an Egyptian who came and
[34:37]performed the Hajj to the house saw some people sitting.
[34:41]He asked or he inquired who are these people.
[34:43]Somebody said they are the Quraysh.
[34:49][snorts] He said who is the old man sitting amongst them?
[34:52]There are people replied he is Abdullahb Omar Katab.
[34:55]He said oh Ibar I want to ask you about something.
[35:00]Please tell me about it.
[35:04]Do you know that man fled away on the day of the
[35:12]battle of?
[35:11]Ib Omar said yes.
[35:13]The Egyptian man said do you know that Osman was absent on
[35:19]the day of Badr and did not join it?
[35:20]Ib Omar said yes.
[35:20]The man said do you know that he failed to attend awan
[35:24]pledge and did not witness?
[35:25]Ib Omar said yes.
[35:28]The man said Allah Akbar.
[35:29]Iban Omar said, "Let me explain to you all these things.
[35:33]As for his flight on the day of, I testify that Allah
[35:36]has excused him and forgiven him." What do we see again?
[35:45]We see that this question is repeated and narrated in Bkari.
[35:49]Why did Osman run away from the battle of Let's say for
[35:54]argument sake Omar ran away and then returned.
[35:57]man.
[35:58]There is no evidence of him returning whatsoever.
[36:01]Otman fled from that battlefield as far as he could.
[36:07]Now notice we see that is known to have fled in which
[36:13]battle?
[36:14]in the battle of Omar mentions as we saw in the of
[36:20]that verse that we left on the day of in the Quran
[36:28]there's another battle where Allah discusses how the companions let down again
[36:35]and ran away again someone says to me where in surah Toba
[36:40]surah 9 of the Quran Allah subhana wa ta'ala discusses a disastrous
[36:48]moment for the so-called firm of faith loyal Sahabah at the battle
[36:54]of Hunain.
[36:56]The Muslims have been told for years that the Sahabah would never
[37:01]let that the best example the Quran shows otherwise.
[37:03]As said when a person asks me as a sh why do
[37:08]you not revere all of the Sahaba whereas you only rever Salman
[37:13]and Abu Dar and Mikdad and by the way the word only
[37:15]is too small for these these are phenomenal personalities but one thing
[37:21]that I know about the Sahabah of Sahal that I rever the
[37:27]type of characters who would run away and leave the prophet alone
[37:32]in a dangerous moment.
[37:32]In surah 9 verse number 20 onwards in surah Toba you find
[37:39]that Allah subhanana wa ta'ala mentions how he helped the companions in
[37:43]many places but especially on the day of now I want you
[37:49]to all zoom in to see the way God talks about the
[37:53]behavior of the Sahabah on the day of Hunain.
[37:56]Look over here my dear brothers and sisters verse 25 surah 9
[38:02]God's help at the battle of Allah most certainly helped you in
[38:19]many battlefields and on the day of is Not when your great
[38:29]numbers made you vain.
[38:34]Bad.
[38:34]The numbers of the Muslims was less than the opposition.
[38:39]Less than the opposition.
[38:41]The Muslims were in the ascendancy as they were about to fight
[38:47]tribes like and Muslims being in the ascendancy.
[38:53]the Sahabah vanity affected them.
[38:56]It's not me.
[38:55]Don't say it's my words.
[38:59]If a person discusses negatively the companions of Allah, they call him
[39:06]a mushrifi dog pig.
[39:08]You should all know this.
[39:10]But when Allah discusses them negatively, then what are you going to
[39:15]call Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala when he says vanity overtook them on
[39:21]the day of?
[39:20]Come back.
[39:28]Your numbers did not help you guys in the slightest on that
[39:34]day.
[39:37]And the earth was straightened against you with all its extensiveness.
[39:45]What?
[39:48]Then you turn back in retreat.
[39:53]Sometimes you hear Arabs, they say, "What happened to you?
[40:02]Get out of here.
[40:03]What happened to them?" They turned back in retreat.
[40:10]Thousands of Sahaba attend the battle of Hunain.
[40:13]like hundreds attended the battle of same story running away one way
[40:18]and the other of those who was famously ran away on this
[40:26]day you will see a hadith in Sah Bkari that I want
[40:28]us to all please go to let's all go to Sah Bkari
[40:32]my dear brothers and sisters volume five come with me over here
[40:36]volume five of albkari the Arabic English volume five a hadith Number
[40:42]what?
[40:45]3849 to 4473.
[40:49]Translated by Dr.
[40:53]Muhammad Minhan.
[40:53]Come with me.
[40:55]Let's see where is it printed.

[41:11]Me nectabad Salam 1997.
[41:13]ing fahed national library cataloging and publication data.
[41:17]Let's all please go together my dear brothers and sisters.
[41:21]Let's see if we can find this particular tradition.
[41:24]Where are we?
[41:28]Page 369 Mazi the book of al- Mazi hadith number 4322.
[41:32]If we can zoom into that.
[41:36]Thank you my dear wonderful cameraman.
[41:37]Narrated by who?
[41:40]Narrated by Abad.
[41:41]When it was the day of the battle of Hunain, I saw
[41:47]a Muslim man fighting with one of the Mushri pagans and another
[41:52]Mushri pagan was hiding himself behind the Muslim in order to kill
[42:01]him.
[42:02]So I hurried towards who?
[42:03]Towards the mushri pagan who was hiding behind the Muslim to kill
[42:08]him.
[42:08]and he raised his hand to hit me, but I hit his
[42:13]hand and cut it off.
[42:13]That man got hold of me and pressed me so hard that
[42:18]I was afraid that I would die.
[42:19]Then he knelt down and his grip became loose and I pushed
[42:26]him and killed him.
[42:26]The Muslims except the prophet and some of his companions started fleeing
[42:32]and I too fled with them.
[42:37]Suddenly I met Omaril Katab [snorts] Omar Katab I put aside of
[42:52]him running away.
[42:54]Now I see him atain and once again I look at Bkari.
[42:59]This person if you come back to the hadith look what he
[43:04]says.
[43:05]The person himself says when the Muslims and means the Muslims what?
[43:17]The Muslims themselves they were the ones who started fleeing.
[43:23]You told me Baba, you told everybody the Sahaba are the most
[43:28]loyal.
[43:28]The Sahaba will never run away.
[43:30]The Sahaba are the bravest on the battlefield.
[43:32]in more he's blatantly saying in then if it was only I
[43:38]would say you know what everyone can have a bad day true
[43:44]we're not but again we come to is just over a year
[43:48]before he dies you would think by that time they would be
[43:54]the bravest and especially for he has been a Muslim now for
[44:02]well over 15 16 17 18 19 years let's Okay, he has
[44:03]been a Muslim at that time.
[44:08]He was what a Muslim 15 years.
[44:09]You would think that he would look what he says.
[44:24]He says, "I started fleeing with them.
[44:28]Suddenly I met with these people." Meaning that I fled.
[44:34]And who am I seeing as those who are fleeing?
[44:45]So I said to him, "What's wrong with the people?" He said
[44:52]the matter or this decision is with Allah running away with those
[45:06]who are running Omar and running away with those who are running.
[45:09]It's interesting Abu Bakr people might ask the question was he of
[45:13]those who ran?
[45:15]In some cases when you examine the first Khalifa you'll see that
[45:19]Abu Bakr was with Allah sallallahu alaihi as like where the quarterback
[45:25]would be seeing the opposition from far.
[45:27]By the way there are some who say well if it's about
[45:29]the number that of people who you've killed that shows your bravery
[45:33]and that you say Ali is the bravest because he has killed
[45:38]so many in battle.
[45:38]Rasool Allah didn't kill many butasool Allah never ran and Imam Ali
[45:43]never ran.
[45:42]Interesting that Wadi and Bazari both mention about Abu Bakr fleeing and
[45:53]there are discussions within theat of Ibad and other works about Abu
[46:03]Bakr at but suffice for me here to see that the people
[46:07]are raised to believe that these were always on the front line
[46:13]of the battlefields when at Hunain I have shown clearly that they
[46:17]were either amongst those who ran and came back or amongst those
[46:20]who ran and ran and ran away from the battlefield as attested
[46:26]by Bkari as attested by and that's why when I'm a and
[46:35]one of the Ali inshallah it's because when I look in your
[46:39]own works whether he was not well or whether he was well,
[46:43]no one could destroy him on the battlefield and he never ran
[46:50]away from the battlefield.
[46:50]Come with me here.
[46:50]In this wonderful hadith, wonderful in one way, disgusting in another.
[46:58]Sah Muslim, my dear brothers and sisters, [snorts] English translation of Sah
[47:03]Muslim compiled by Im Hussein Muslim volume 6 from hadith number 5646
[47:10]to 57 22.
[47:10]is a reference by Zub translated by final review by Abu Khal.
[47:20]Come over here first edition August 2007 supervised by Abd Malik Mujah
[47:27]asks why is he not of those who abuses Im Ali Alisam
[47:33]the wonderful Sahabah of Allah have a nice discussion here.
[47:38]Sahhabi A is asking Sahhabi B why he doesn't cons why why
[47:41]he doesn't abuse Sahabi C.
[47:44]Let me repeat that.
[47:44]Sahabi A is asking Sahabi B why he doesn't abuse Sahabi C.
[47:48]And all of these will be in Jenna together inshallah.
[47:52]Come with me over here.
[47:53]Virtues of the companions page 263 6220 32.
[47:59]It was narrated from who?
[48:03]It is narrated my dear brothers and sisters as you can all
[48:07]see from the son of that his father said Abu Sufyan ordered
[48:15]saying what kept you from cursing Abu Turab companion A asked companion
[48:19]B what has kept you from cursing companion C it's a lovely
[48:22]conversation really cool let's go back he said listen to what Sah
[48:27]says it is because of three things that I remembered that the
[48:31]messenger of Allah said that I will never curse him because if
[48:34]even one of them were for me that would be dearer to
[48:39]me than the red camels and this is my vital line my
[48:43]dear brothers and sisters come at the bottom over here and I
[48:47]heard him say on the day of here is the point I
[48:53]heard him say on the day of my dear brothers and sisters
[48:58]look at what the hadith says very clearly about which man on
[49:05]the battlefield none could come near in terms of his bravery come
[49:09]to the hadith.
[49:11]And I heard him say on the day of, I shall give
[49:23]the flag to a man who loves Allah and his messenger.
[49:29]and Allah and his messenger love him.
[49:34]We were all hoping for it but he said call Ali for
[49:39]me.
[49:39]He was bought and he was suffering from an inflammation in the
[49:43]eyes.
[49:43]He put some spittle in his eyes and gave the flag to
[49:48]him and when Allah granted him victory.
[49:51]No companion of Allah Sall has ever been given a banner where
[50:01]the prophet says Allah and me love him and he loves me
[50:05]and Allah because none comes near this man not only in his
[50:10]victories on the battlefield but that on his CV he has never
[50:16]run away from a battlefield as well.
