[0:45][Music] h [Music] in the name of God the most beneficent the
[1:15]most merciful all prais is due to Allah master of all the
[1:19]worlds and peace and blessings be on All His prophets and especially
[1:26]the final Prophet The Prophet Muhammad Sall alai wasam my condol es
[1:30]to each and every one of you my brothers and sisters on
[1:35]the commemoration of the sh I bid you all the Islamic greeting
[1:41]of why do combine prayers why do you not separate prayers this
[1:49]is a question that we've been asked virtually every time we enter
[1:52]a discussion with a Muslim from another school of Islam the many
[1:58]times people when they see us in Salah they see that the
[2:01]Shia Community have a habit worldwide which I think they'll openly admit
[2:05]that they'll combine Salah so you'll have and then shortly afterwards and
[2:11]then you will see them combine Salah and then shortly afterwards this
[2:19]is in stark contrast to the majority of Muslims in the world
[2:27]who we see praying F praying at a set time praying at
[2:30]a set time praying M at a set time and praying at
[2:37]a set time and we know very well that Allah subhana wa
[2:39]ta'ala has made clear in the Holy Quran that the prayers have
[2:44]been set at a prescribed time when Allah subhana wa taala tells
[2:48]us that these prayers at the end of the day these prayers
[2:54]have been prayers which have been set for us at a particular
[2:59]time then why is it that the the Shia the ones who
[3:02]combine and others of the Muslim world separate indeed you might even
[3:06]find that there are some people when they're asking the question when
[3:10]they convert to Islam which school of thought or which school of
[3:16]law should I follow should I follow the Shia should I follow
[3:19]the Sunni should I follow which of the schools you'll find that
[3:25]some are affected by these five prayers because some even reach the
[3:29]assumption that us the Shia only pray three times a day and
[3:33]that all the other Muslims pray five times a day some of
[3:35]you may have even met people who say to you that why
[3:39]do you Shia pray three times only when other Muslims pray five
[3:41]and I know some of you at home might be flabbergasted but
[3:44]this is actually true there are people out there who will actually
[3:48]say to us that all the Muslims pray five times a day
[3:53]except the Shia they pray three no my dear brothers and sisters
[3:55]I know maybe in the area where you live maybe you've not
[4:00]met some Shia and that's why we always have to give benefit
[4:02]of the doubt to certain non that they may not have met
[4:06]any Shia and therefore there's no one who's actually given them an
[4:09]answer from someone within the Shia Community but I can assure you
[4:13]that all of us in the Shia World pray five times a
[4:19]day but that you have a point when you say that you
[4:24]may see in the majority of our mosques around the world when
[4:28]we get to shortly after afterwards we pray and when we get
[4:34]to shortly afterwards we pray that of course does not mean everybody
[4:40]involved because there are people I know personally who separate their Salah
[4:46]who are and separation is more recommended of course than combination let's
[4:52]put this clear at the outset it's amongst the mar who are
[4:57]alive may Allah lengthen the life of our Mar and especially said
[5:02]Alani who clearly gives the opinion that separation is more recommended than
[5:08]combination but you find that until today majority in the Shia world
[5:14]will continue to combine this combination of course is something which is
[5:19]legitimate in all schools in Islam there isn't a single School in
[5:26]the religion of Islam that rejects the validity of combining Salah some
[5:31]of these schools they may come forward and say that you could
[5:35]combine Salah for example only when it is raining for example others
[5:41]might come and say that you could combine Salah when you are
[5:48]unwell others might come and say that you could combine Salah for
[5:54]example when you are traveling Others May give other reasons for why
[5:58]you may combine Salah the basic point is that there are clearly
[6:02]when we hear these opinions clearly Traditions that would tell us that
[6:11]at times combin and at times separated otherwise how would it be
[6:19]legitimate in every school in Islam that there are certain times when
[6:22]a person can combine their Salah when they are traveling when it's
[6:26]raining when it is sick when they are unwell for example you'll
[6:32]see that different schools of Islamic law have their opinions as to
[6:37]when combination can be done but the question arises what if it's
[6:42]not raining what if it's not too hot what if I'm not
[6:47]traveling can I combine Salah or no I as a sh when
[6:51]you come to the mosque and you see that the sh pray
[6:53]and they do not pray for example and then wait let's say
[6:59]a couple of hours on is this wrong or is this not
[7:06]the most recommended because there's a difference when you tell somebody that
[7:11]this thing is wrong what you do that you should separate your
[7:15]Salah not combine you telling me what I'm doing is wrong or
[7:18]are you telling me what I'm doing is not the most recommended
[7:22]therefore until today in the Muslim world the Shia are accused of
[7:28]being the ones who pray three prayers not five the Shia are
[7:32]accused of being the ones who never separate Salah as if there
[7:35]has been a consensus done over the whole Shia world that every
[7:40]single one of them does not separate Salah and there is this
[7:43]opinion that Allah some people think only combined his and then and
[7:49]then only when he was in certain environment or a certain particular
[7:55]condition emerged how do we discuss this issue first and foremost is
[7:59]there a single Ayah in the Holy Quran that tells us as
[8:07]Muslims that we must pray five times a day is there one
[8:10]ay in the Quran if a non-muslim came to you today and
[8:14]he said to you show me which Ayah in the Quran says
[8:20]that you Muslims must pray five times a day which Ayah would
[8:22]you give them all of you the viewers at home I ask
[8:26]you just to reflect on yourself which Ayah of the Quran would
[8:29]you quote if if a non-muslim met you at work or at
[8:35]school or at College University on a flight in a meeting said
[8:37]you by the way you know you guys pray F there say
[8:41]yes which verse in the Quran says that there is absolutely no
[8:43]verse in the Quran that says all Muslims pray five times a
[8:48]day not a single Ayah in the Quran that says all Muslims
[8:54]pray five times a day you may find God describing three parts
[8:58]of the day for example for for Salah maybe that's there but
[9:05]God saying oh Muslim pray five times a day there is not
[9:11]a single Ayah there's not a single Ayah that says oh Muslim
[9:18]in one a it says recite with these names or titles or
[9:22]timings that we've given them today there is not a single ay
[9:28]in the Quran there are ay that mention f f is in
[9:31]the Quran all of you have read for to say there's aah
[9:35]called is in the Quran may be in the Quran may be
[9:42]in the Quran all of these may be in different portions of
[9:46]the Quran but when a Muslim comes and tells me Quran says
[9:51]You must pray five times Quran does not say you pray five
[9:53]times Quran has given us periods when Salah is to be prayed
[9:58]if we could go for example join me in the Quran Surah
[10:04]17 here all of you at home Surah 17 verse 78 if
[10:08]we can zoom into the verse in the Quran look over here
[10:11]my dear brothers and sisters you will see here establish prayer regularly
[10:27]from the declension of the sun till the darkness of of the
[10:30]night and the recital at the morning verily the recital at the
[10:33]morning is witnessed here I have the mention of what I have
[10:41]the mention sun rise sunet the morning what do I have three
[10:45]periods be being mentioned not five you pray three Baba I'm looking
[10:52]at the Quran I see three but within those three it concludes
[10:56]as five why because you have F then someone says are you
[11:03]telling me there is no Ayah in the Quran that says five
[11:06]prayers no again if I go to another Surah of the Quran
[11:10]come with me over here my dear brother and sisters Surah 11
[11:13]of the Quran surah h verse number 114 you come with me
[11:20]over here and you will see again establish prayer in the two
[11:35]ends of the day okay so let's say from for example those
[11:37]two ends from that period of until let's say the period of
[11:46]okay and at the approaches of the night I tell you does
[11:53]it say five here or three again everybody is told that the
[11:57]Quran says You must pray five times Quan doesn't say five times
[12:02]a day Quran gives you three periods I may even give you
[12:04]benefit of the doubt if I go to another Ayah maybe let's
[12:07]go to four periods maybe the Quran even wants to me if
[12:09]you want to go there let's talk about Surah 20 of the
[12:13]Quran my dear brothers and sisters verse 130 let's go over here
[12:19]and you will see look over here my dear brothers and sisters
[12:22]Surah 20 verse 130 [Music] be patient with what they say and
[12:40]glorify your Lord by praising him and the rising of the sun
[12:45]and the setting of it and in some hours of the night
[12:49]also glorify him and during parts of the day that you may
[12:52]achieve the pleasure of Allah here I have again what's clear is
[12:55]I have this General understanding there is no Ayah that says there
[13:02]are five prayers in the Quran I go to the world of
[13:05]Hadith and the world of Hadith presents me with a number of
[13:11]important paradigms I don't want to go into the technicalities of Sunnah
[13:14]and Hadith and understanding generally generally without having to Define each of
[13:19]these words and the way that they used in the different Sciences
[13:21]of the religion of Islam let's generally try and understand that they
[13:25]allow us to understand the tradition and the way and the practice
[13:28]and the words of I want to pray like the prophet peace
[13:35]be upon him his family prayed I want to understand did pray
[13:40]like this or did pray with my hands being above the or
[13:48]below the Sur or did pray with his hands by his side
[13:53]I want to understand what is's definition of of of and I
[14:00]want to understand where their times where combined or where their times
[14:06]when you combin when us do it it's as if we are
[14:07]doing something strange when some non see us it's as if we're
[14:13]doing something strange open as we have done for the previous 27
[14:19]episodes open sah Muslim open the sun of Abu da and I
[14:27]can show you tradition after tradition where clearly combined Salah someone says
[14:36]wait wait wait I know he combined Salah but he only combined
[14:38]Salah for example when he was sick some might say that only
[14:45]when he was sick he combined Salah and it's true that when
[14:48]we look in Sahari if we all go toah alari over here
[14:52]my dear brothers and sisters all of you join me as we
[14:54]always do go toah alari please look atah bukari here you will
[15:02]see the translation of the meanings of sahkari Arabic English volume one
[15:07]over here my dear brothers and sisters volume one a Hadith 1
[15:12]to 875 translated by Dr Muhammad M Khan let's go over here
[15:22]you will see daram Publishers and Distributors over here riy printed in
[15:28]July 1997 printing supervised by Abdul Malik mujahid King fad National Library
[15:37]cataloging and publication data Muhammad bin is alkari come with me here
[15:46]so that we read this Hadith of on page 335 where you
[15:54]see very clearly the book of the times of Salah e Sal
[16:01]come over here 18th chapter the time of the prayer which Bob
[16:09]you have this duration from what does he say a person who
[16:21]is sick can offer prayers together a person who is sick can
[16:33]offer what can offer M and prayer together what does this show
[16:37]us this shows us that allowed combination of Salah when you were
[16:44]sick for example even now if you see a Shia combining Salah
[16:50]and you are not sh you could either throw it as all
[16:52]you guys do is combine or you could turn around and say
[16:55]give him a of the doubt the person might be sick that's
[16:57]why they're combining their Salah because naturally what's the philosophy here philosophy
[17:02]is you may be in a state of hardship so this law
[17:06]has given you some ease that normally you might be the type
[17:11]of guy who goes mosat one and then goes mosat four but
[17:15]today you could do and together because you are not feeling well
[17:19]this might even help some of the elderly in the community although
[17:23]some of the elderly sometimes and Salah stronger than some of us
[17:28]guys okay so now when you come over here you will see
[17:31]that would clearly be someone who would be accepting of the fact
[17:40]that Salah could be combined when somebody is what when somebody is
[17:45]feeling unwell that is the first understanding second understanding in the Sunni
[17:51]world is that they said look you can only combine Salah if
[17:55]you're unwell or if you're traveling that if someone is traveling they
[18:03]may be able to combine their Salah if I come toah Muslim
[18:06]my dear brothers and sisters join me over here sah Muslim you
[18:11]will see here English translation of sah Muslim compiled by IM Abul
[18:16]Hussein Muslim ha volume two from Hadith number 1161 to 2262 a
[18:26]Hadith edited and referenced by translated by in Canada final review by
[18:34]who by Abu come again here with me you will see global
[18:40]leader in Islamic books London Houston New York when was this published
[18:47]first edition June 2007 supervised by Abdul Malik mujahid I want everyone
[18:52]to come with me to this section over here this section over
[18:58]here allows us to see that would combine Salah not just one
[19:08]of the conditions was when somebody was unwell but also when someone
[19:14]was traveling come over here to this Ayah to this Hadith you
[19:18]will see the book of The Travelers 1627 48 it was narrated
[19:28]from anes that if if the prophet was in a hurry while
[19:32]traveling he would delay until the beginning of the time for and
[19:40]then join them and he would delay M until he joined it
[19:45]with when the Twilight had disappeared did combin Salah or nol would
[20:00]delay until the beginning of the time for and then join them
[20:08]notice over here what would it say it would say over here
[20:11]very clearly if we zoom in it would say my dear brothers
[20:17]and sisters is what what is it is the combination someone tells
[20:35]you combination in Arabic is would combine what he would combine and
[20:51]he would combine with what when is this this is when he
[20:57]is traveling so what do I have now would combine Salah when
[21:04]he was when someone is sick they can combine Salah when he
[21:09]was traveling Al his companions would Clearly say that would combine Salah
[21:14]when he was traveling now someone might say okay what else said
[21:23]Allah would combine Salah when it was raining all these times are
[21:33]incidents of when would combine and see how when we go mosque
[21:40]many of usah finishes we pray in in Muslim it says sick
[21:47]traveling or someone says in rain come back here please my dear
[21:51]brothers and sisters Al would combine Salah when it was raining come
[21:56]here you'll see again we come back toah alar over here we
[22:02]see Arabic English volume one once again a Hadith 1 to 875
[22:05]translated by who by Dr Muhammad M Khan darus Salam Publishers and
[22:14]Distributors RI printed in July 1997 printing supervised by Abdul Malik mujahid
[22:21]I want everybody to come with me over here to page 329
[22:27]again the section is called called The Book of the timings of
[22:36]Salah notice here the third condition normally mentioned in the Sunni legal
[22:42]school as to when you can combine Salah number one what did
[22:45]we say sick number two traveling number three when it's raining look
[22:50]over here again this Hadith is from who it's from IB Abbas
[22:55]the Hadith comes and says that the prophet peace be upon him
[23:12]his family prayed eight for and seven for in Medina question the
[23:18]prophet prayed eight does that mean that were completely one eight no
[23:23]what does it mean four and four prayed look what it says
[23:36]here eight and seven for then perhaps those were rainy nights and
[23:47]I said maybe so what do we have here we have perhaps
[23:53]it was raining but what's the important thing is that praise what
[23:59]is described as what look at the description come back here he
[24:08]prayed in Medina seven and eight eight being what eight being and
[24:15]seven being and this is where this iskari hence firstly did my
[24:23]Prophet combine his Salah yes he did so don't look at me
[24:25]the sh and say you people pray three time Baba you're prophet
[24:31]you will have to level the same accusation against that you're leveling
[24:34]against me you're saying to me that why are you people combining
[24:38]I rep to you because Al combined and he separated but you
[24:45]reply by saying but only when he traveled and only when it
[24:51]was raining and only when he was sick but your books also
[24:54]show that sometimes he combined with no reason whatsoever see when I
[25:01]combine it's not because I'm traveling nor is it because I'm it's
[25:03]raining nor is it because I'm sick I may go to the
[25:08]mosque as a sh and I may combine because my Prophet combined
[25:14]and you say that my Prophet combined only when it was travel
[25:18]rain or sickness no even amongst your Scholars they will admit that
[25:26]was the one who was was also combining his Salah when there
[25:34]was no reason whatsoever he wanted to combine his Salah he felt
[25:39]like combining his Salah let's look at this interesting clip clip number
[25:44]one and let's see the question that is asked to one of
[25:51]the scholars and one of the lecturers from the Sunni world and
[25:55]his reply to this question please play clip number one is it
[26:02]permissible to combine prayers in normal circumstances Allah subhana tala says in
[26:11]the Glorious Quran inaha chapter number four verse Number 103 for prayer
[26:25]has been enjoined upon the Believers at its state time time so
[26:32]when we offer the prayer referring to the five daily prayer the
[26:38]five obligatory prayer that we offer in a day the five daily
[26:44]prayer they need to be offered at its fixed time at its
[26:47]stipulated time the F thear the the and the is prayer you
[26:55]can only join the prayers if you have an a valid excuse
[27:01]and the F and the prayer can be joined and the m
[27:07]and the ISA prayer can be joined only if you have a
[27:13]valid excuse the fjer prayer cannot be joined so only the and
[27:16]the ass prayer can be joined and the m and the ISA
[27:20]prayer can be joined if you have an a valid excuse for
[27:22]example if you are traveling if you are sick if if you
[27:29]have a sickness wherein you cannot hold your wuo for a long
[27:35]time or you cannot maintain your wuo for a long time for
[27:36]example every 10 15 minutes you need to do your woodo so
[27:43]in this situation you can join the prayers and some Scholars say
[27:53]that you can join the prayers if you have a final examination
[27:56]once in a blue MO but normally the examinations they do not
[28:03]clash with the prayers normally in the examinations we do not have
[28:08]to join the prayers but for example if you have an examination
[28:14]that starts before thear time and it ends after thear time is
[28:18]over so in this situation you can join the prayers but in
[28:25]normal circumstances the prayer has to be offered at its fixed time
[28:29]at its stipulated time and our beloved Prophet Muhammad peace be upon
[28:37]him when he joined the prayer it was for a valid excuse
[28:42]it was for a valid reason for example while he was traveling
[28:45]so in general circumstances the prayer needs to be offered at its
[28:49]fixed time a person can only join the prayer if he has
[28:57]a valid excuse only if he has a Val excuse your legal
[29:03]deduction LED you to deciding that if you have a final exam
[29:07]once in a blue moon you may be able to combine in
[29:13]theth it says traveling or sickness or rain doesn't really mention a
[29:20]final gcsc or a level or University exam either we stick to
[29:27]what alai said on the reasons for when you can combine or
[29:31]you've reached your own conclusion and on top of that you decide
[29:35]to mention that you must have a valid excuse what if combines
[29:41]Salah with no excuse he just want to combine if I prove
[29:44]to you that combin Salah without mentioning of traveling or sickness or
[29:54]rain then you could combine when you would want as well and
[29:58]of of course it's up to you you have your legal school
[30:00]and you can reach your conclusion but for me as a sh
[30:04]even in your own books combined his Salah without no mention of
[30:12]travel sickness or rain someone asks me where come with me again
[30:16]to sah Muslim my dear brothers and sisters look over here in
[30:19]sah Muslim you will see this is mentioned for all of us
[30:26]if you come over here look at this sah Muslim comil by
[30:31]IM Abul Hussein Muslim ha volume two from Hadith number 1161 to
[30:37]2262 a Hadith edited and referenced by translated byab Canada final review
[30:46]by Abu KH USA Dar Salam first edition June 2007 supervised by
[30:57]Abdul Malik mujahid this whole section is a section which is given
[31:02]a title what is the section it is the section that is
[31:07]called as you could all see my dear brothers sisters chapter 5
[31:11]look over here page 214 it is permissible to combine two prayers
[31:17]when traveling that is the title you will see over here that's
[31:23]amongst the Traditions that the holy prophet peace be upon him and
[31:32]his family if you come to page 214 215 216 come to
[31:42]this chapter joining two prayers when not traveling What's the title of
[31:50]the chapter joining two prayers when not traveling come back to the
[31:56]Hadith 162 8 49705 it was narrated that Abbas said the messenger
[32:04]of Allah prayed and together and and together when there was no
[32:16]fear and he was not traveling you said you need to have
[32:24]a valid excuse what's Allah's excuse here you said you need to
[32:27]have a valid excuse no fear combination no traveling combination the Hadith
[32:35]my dear brothers and sisters it's very clear look again over here
[32:40]the next Hadith it was narrated that Abbas said the messenger of
[32:46]Allah s prayed and together in when there was no fear and
[32:57]he was not traveling let's read it again come back again to
[33:01]1628 the first one look very clear and what did he do
[33:22]again we will repeat prayed what together and and what together when
[33:47]there was no fear and there was no travel the next Hadith
[33:53]again what did it say come back here the prophet peace be
[34:08]upon him and his family prayed no traveling no fear that means
[34:16]when the prays put aside what is more must than what's not
[34:25]stop throwing accusations against hundreds of Millions ions of Muslims on something
[34:31]your Prophet peace be upon him and his family used to do
[34:34]without all the conditions that you're mentioning there's no rain here there's
[34:39]no sickness here but I'll tell you something I found very interesting
[34:45]sometimes you will see that there are Sunni Scholars on television they
[34:53]know that prayed said separately and combined and clearly separation is more
[35:02]recommended than combination but when they are faced with the task of
[35:13]having to explain a question or give an answer on the issue
[35:18]of combination they will go to a million different lengths to try
[35:24]and give an answer as to why possibly he must have combined
[35:27]for some reason which we can only speculate clip number two please
[35:33]play it and let's see how many gymnastics are undertaken and moves
[35:41]to try and justify when the prophet would combine without a reason
[35:45]what could possibly have been the reason please play clip number two
[35:49]he asked about combining the prayers without a valid reason such as
[35:57]rain and fear which are the concessions that were given in the
[36:03]Hadith and there is a sound Hadith it's actually in bukari and
[36:06]Muslim but in the narration of IM Muslim he added so the
[36:15]prophet sallallahu Ali wasallam was quoted by some of his companions and
[36:18]the narrator of the Hadith is abdah abas may Allah be pleased
[36:21]with him and his father he said that the prophet sallallahu alaihi
[36:24]wasallam once prayed and together combined at the time of one of
[36:31]them so eight ra four then then another four raas wow so
[36:39]he was in shortening the prayers that means he wasn't traveling yes
[36:44]he was resident in Medina then he combined and together three then
[36:52]fouras then in the narration of IM Muslim there was no excuse
[37:00]of Rin or fear then he addedd in order to lift the
[37:08]burden from his umah to widen the scope so the excuses are
[37:10]not only in case of fear and in case of Fain but
[37:17]there could be other excuses which may evolve such as sickness such
[37:22]as if you're a surgeon and a nurse you're going into an
[37:27]open heart surgery you will be be in the operating room for
[37:29]6 hours you're going to miss some of the prayers no no
[37:33]no no no go ahead and combine either before the operation or
[37:36]after the operation so that you manage your business in the exam
[37:40]rooms where I don't have a choice I'm stuck and I'm afraid
[37:45]I will miss the exam with 3 hours I'm afraid I will
[37:50]miss my M that's okay you can combine it with but we
[37:52]do not do it on regular basis we do it due to
[37:57]Necessities due to valid reasons otherwise ABD that praying or combining the
[38:02]prayers unnecessarily without a valid reason is a major sin that's why
[38:15]I combine Salah it wasn't rocket science what you mentioned that if
[38:22]you've got work or an exam or surgery it doesn't even need
[38:28]to be limited to surgery or something in the hospital Common Sense
[38:36]will dictate that if I know there's a chance that if I
[38:38]separate I might miss then I've been given what seemingly is a
[38:44]clear dispensation that I can combine you had to go through mental
[38:48]gymnastics to reach a conclusion on something your Prophet has made a
[38:51]dispensation for you 1400 years ago what if someone will enter an
[38:59]exam and he might miss and so we know that that's why
[39:02]we combine and if I don't have nothing to do that day
[39:05]that I can separate and even he reaches a conclusion that IB
[39:09]Abbas says which I haven't found here he may have his reference
[39:12]that if a person combines without there being a valid reason then
[39:16]it's a major sin so whatas Allah what was his reason over
[39:20]here are you saying Allah was a sinner when he combined without
[39:23]a reason no no maybe he he was sick and that could
[39:29]be the Don't Tell Me Maybe come back to sah Muslim he
[39:35]said that you know how everyone keeps saying that you can only
[39:38]combine when it's travel or sick or rain here again in s
[39:43]Muslim come everybody with me here Hadith number 1633 5475 it was
[39:49]narrated that Abbas said the messenger of Allah join with and with
[39:58]in Med when there was no fear and no rain what did
[40:03]we say in the Hadith seven hads early also when there was
[40:09]come back here the messenger of Allah together when there was no
[40:14]fear and he was not traveling when there's no traveling combined when
[40:18]there's no rain combined and you're telling me I'm the Shia who's
[40:20]got the problem I'm the one who's got issues I am doing
[40:26]what my Prophet does done if it's not raining I can combine
[40:30]if it is raining I can combine traveling I can combine tra
[40:35]not traveling I can combine at the end of the day when
[40:37]you labeled us sh as those who don't pray five times a
[40:42]day wah we proudly pray five times a day we proudly pray
[40:44]and and and and like our Prophet peace be upon's family he
[40:51]would combine we combine and if he separates we should Endeavor and
[40:57]more recommend ended to separate but my conclusions May differ to yours
[41:04]even within my own School the definition of what is and what's
[41:10]what's and may differ some might talk about for example let's say
[41:15]if was 109 they might tell me that the time of is
[41:22]until let's say 209 but that may begin from say 133 some
[41:27]might tell me that for example is at 6:05 the of ends
[41:34]with the beginning of for example within my own school there may
[41:40]be a different interpretation as to what is the definition of What's
[41:44]the defin definition of we know all the prayer timings in virtually
[41:47]every mosque in the UK differ and there could be seven mosques
[41:50]in the same area giving you different times for for for f
[41:54]and so on and so forth how many times you got to
[41:58]F in Ramadan you saw different timings but don't tell me that
[42:02]never combined Salah even if it wasn't raining if he wasn't traveling
[42:10]he still combined Salah come with me to the Sunan of Abu
[42:15]da my dear brothers and sisters very important Hadith over here look
[42:22]over here my dear brother sisters the English translation of the Sunan
[42:26]of Abu da compiled by Abu volume two from Hadith number 1161
[42:33]to 2174 a Hadith editor referen by translated by final review by
[42:42]who by Abu where is it published Dar Salam Publishers first edition
[42:48]July 2008 supervised by Abdul Malik mujahid come with me here mam
[42:56]2008 King fad National Library loing in publication data I want everyone
[43:02]to come with me here if you come to from page 43
[43:05]onwards you will see clearly the book of The Travelers prayers combining
[43:10]between the prayers you will see here the Traditions are mentioned for
[43:19]example you find this Hadith informed them that they went out with
[43:23]for the battle of tabuk the messenger of Allah would combine and
[43:29]between and one day he delayed the prayer then came out and
[43:37]prayed and together then returned to his tent then came out and
[43:41]prayed and together is thisi yes the Hadith is again the next
[43:48]Hadith when the prophet was in a hurry during his journey he
[43:51]would combine between M and and would continue traveling until the Twilight
[43:56]had disappeared all of us agree with all of these narrations okay
[44:03]now come to thisi 1210 pray combined and combined while he was
[44:10]neither traveling nor in a state of fear saf so then Malik
[44:25]adds here I believe this occurred when it rained okay so now
[44:28]he tries to add the possibility that it must have been raining
[44:33]what's interesting over here if you come to this Hadith why do
[44:39]you allow us why do you allow us to combine our why
[44:45]did Allah allow us to combine Salah final exam heart surgery all
[44:50]of these things that these speaker started mentioning as to maybe these
[44:55]are excuses you could just relax you don't need to give a
[44:58]excuses why did God allow for combination of Salah look what the
[45:00]Hadith says clearly Hadith 1211 Abbas the messenger of Allah s once
[45:08]combined between and and between and while we were in Al without
[45:19]any cause for fear nor due to rain the now look at
[45:25]this Abbas was asked this is a huge line IB Abbas was
[45:29]asked why did he do that he replied he wished not to
[45:34]inconvenience his Nation you know sometimes Muslims put more inconvenience on themselves
[45:45]than their Prophet peace be upon his family put for them I've
[45:48]seen some they're not meant to fast they'll say no I'm going
[45:50]to fast you can pray they say I'm going to pray full
[45:54]you tell them you can combine say I'm going to separate you're
[45:58]going to separate no problem more I agree but look at the
[46:06]again let's read it in Arabic what do he say look at
[46:24]the what was it said to him why did he do that
[46:36]he wished not to inconvenience his Nation the beauty of the wisdom
[46:47]of Allah and the beauty of the practice of Al this religion
[46:52]wanted to bring or this religion wanted to bring or your did
[46:58]it want to bring hardship or ease want to bring hard want
[47:02]to bring ease the religion of Islam wanted to bring what ease
[47:06]not hardship and this should be applied on a number of our
[47:12]world views on people should we look at the way people practice
[47:16]on pushing more hardship on them or more Ease on them couldn't
[47:20]said I don't care what happens all of you have to separate
[47:26]no I don't want to bring a haraj if you are work
[47:27]let's say for example I used to remember back in the day
[47:32]I worked in uh self fridges and when we used to work
[47:39]in selfridges first and foremost the idea was that we try and
[47:42]find a place where we can pray okay alhamdulillah there's enough Muslims
[47:45]on the floor where you can find a group of you to
[47:51]get a little room then secondly some days very quiet you're at
[47:54]your for example particular concession of that particular brand sometimes it's very
[47:59]quiet you're standing there when lunch comes even the manager says you
[48:02]know what just spend a little bit extra it's nothing really some
[48:04]days is a nightmare you know when the Christmas sales happen you
[48:10]know when there are certain seasons of sales it goes absolutely wild
[48:14]in the store W sometimes even to have lunch breaks is near
[48:18]to Impossible now what do I do I've got a couple of
[48:23]options try and somehow get in and then hopefully by the time
[48:27]I finish I get then I wait and see becomes for example
[48:31]for no reason or I combine if I combine you turn around
[48:34]to me and say but brother it's not you're not traveling I
[48:38]say my Prophet wasn't traveling brother but there's no fear of for
[48:43]example it's not raining no fear no I'm all right my Prophet
[48:46]said this huge line and this line alongside alongside concepts of and
[48:56]are fundamental not just in this Sunni poic and and discussion but
[49:01]also in the dynamic of and the principles of Juris Prudence fundamental
[49:08]look at that line and memorize it Allah did not wish to
[49:17]inconvenience his Nation rasool knew what you didn't know that there will
[49:20]be a day he has surgery he has work he's last minute
[49:23]getting to the job if he's going to say you know what
[49:27]I'll wait until coming ation and then it's why you have the
[49:29]possibility to combine again this is repeated where sah Muslim come back
[49:35]with meah Muslim over here my dear brothers and sisters look over
[49:38]here compiled by IM hus Muslim volume two fromi number 1161 to
[49:42]2262 edited referenced by translated by final review by who by come
[49:52]with me my dear brothers and sisters again you will see this
[49:58]is very clear for all to see that mentions this again the
[50:04]book of The Travelers page 2118 in sah Muslim come 1633 5475
[50:12]it was derated said the messenger of Allah join with and with
[50:19]in so clearly not traveling when there was no fear no fear
[50:24]and no rain no rain and then what was the he said
[50:30]I said to AB why did he do that he said so
[50:36]that his um would not be subjected to hardship there is nothing
[50:40]more beautiful than the message of and the ease at which he
[50:47]explained this and the ease of which we could practice this instead
[50:51]of Muslims throwing accusations against each other without them understanding their own
[50:55]literature we should try to understand each other in order to be
[51:02]able to come closer to one another if I see you combine
[51:05]then your relationship is between your mhab your prophet and your lord
[51:10]and if I see you separate then credit to you for making
[51:15]that time of Separation if you are a Maliki and you have
[51:18]your opinion on combination separation I'm a and in honor of the
[51:23]man I honor tonight in his sh I gain my knowledge of
[51:28]the of Al from who from IM from IM and the IMs
[51:35]all the way to in the same way you may have gain
[51:37]them from Malik who might have got it for example from those
[51:43]of the and from those who had met Companions of all of
[51:47]us are different schools you have your legal opinion I have mine
[51:52]for us the sh it's not an excuse to then only focus
[51:56]on combination if if you are able to reach a level where
[51:59]you separate then separation has more recommendation we pray to Allah subhana
[52:03]wa tala to help us be amongst those who established Salah and
[52:06]raised with those who have established Salah join me next week inshallah
[52:09]as we continue to delve into Islamic Heritage and literature [Music] come
[52:40]join me on Imam Hussein TV3 to find out who will be
[52:46]behind the wheel
