[0:00]audhu billahi min as-shaytan ar-rajim bismillah r-rahman r-rahim al-hamdu lillahi rabbil alameen
[0:09]wa sallahu allah sayidina muhammadin wa ala nabina Paran vamos Allah Allah
[0:17]Muhammad Ali Mohammed Salam alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh we continue our examination of
[0:30]the fourth pillar of religion the 4th US of a solid Deen
[0:35]which is the discussion on imama the belief in the successorship after
[0:41]the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa we examined previously the conditions of an
[0:50]imam in sunni discourse and theology how does a person become an
[1:00]imam we examine that now we will examine a mama in shia
[1:04]beliefs according to the path of a debate what are the conditions
[1:11]for an imam how does a person become an imam to begin
[1:16]with what is the role of the imam these are very significant
[1:21]discussions that have to do with the core of our faith so
[1:28]it is very important for us to discuss this in depth and
[1:32]in detail according to Shia a theology a mama is not a
[1:41]secondary issue like we see in sunni beliefs it is in fact
[1:44]part of religion part of Deen it's part of a sueded Deen
[1:49]not part of furrow at Deen the branches of faith as we
[1:51]examined last week a mama is exactly like the position of prophethood
[2:02]with the only difference that the Imam does not receive official revelation
[2:08]the Prophet is chosen by God the Prophet is infallible the same
[2:13]applies to the Imam the only difference really is that the Prophet
[2:18]receives official revelation and delivers that message to the people whereas the
[2:26]Imam does not receive official revelation otherwise all conditions that you find
[2:35]in a prophet are found in the Imam this is because the
[2:39]Imam fills pretty much the same role that a prophet does what
[2:44]is the role of a prophet let's ask the Prophet has many
[2:47]roles but three are very important one role of the prophet sallallaahu
[2:56]alayhi wa lee was to explain the holy quran to provide the
[2:59]proper application for the quranic verses to Kleck to clarify that which
[3:04]is ambiguous that which is not clear the Prophet doesn't just recite
[3:08]verses to us no he explains to us the meaning and the
[3:13]tough sear of those verses Allah Spanish our estates in the Holy
[3:16]Quran when zelner a lake and villa to Bayon and in us
[3:21]allah says we have revealed down the quran the vic the remembrance
[3:24]so that you explain to the people you clarify to the people
[3:32]that's one role of the prophet another role of the prophet is
[3:35]to respond to questions anyone who has a question Muslim non-muslim difficult
[3:41]question easy question the Prophet would answer those questions on behalf of
[3:46]Allah subhana WA Ta'ala and number three the Prophet would explain legal
[3:50]fit key issues and matters that people face in their everyday lives
[3:55]these are the three main roles of the Prophet let's ask the
[3:59]following question when the Prophet Sal Allahu Allahu Allah passed away and
[4:03]departed there was a big gap the Prophet was fulfilling these three
[4:12]roles when he passed away who fulfills these roles for us there
[4:16]is a now a big gap in the Muslim Ummah who's going
[4:21]to explain the proper tuffsy of Quran who is going to answer
[4:24]the questions to defend the religion and explain religion who's going to
[4:31]explain to people legal matters we have here two options two ideas
[4:37]two paths let's choose one of them two possibilities either the OMA
[4:43]is mature enough and qualified enough such that they could fulfill this
[4:51]very important role they could undertake these responsibilities offer the proper tip
[4:57]seal they answer people's questions they defend the religion they explain legal
[5:02]issues that's one possibility the other possibility is for the Prophet to
[5:08]appoint someone who represents him and he will fulfill this role really
[5:15]these are the two possibilities that we have otherwise you have a
[5:18]gap you have a void you have to fill it somehow and
[5:22]last not just going to leave us to try to you know
[5:24]figure this out when this is part of our faith a last
[5:28]panel Tyler has to show us let's look at the first possibility
[5:31]that the Ummah is qualified enough they can figure it out themselves
[5:37]what do you think about this that the OMA can figure it
[5:43]out themselves that's obscene of the Quran all that knowledge all those
[5:47]legal details answering tough questions the biggest proof that the OMA cannot
[5:53]figure this out is all the disagreements that we have when it
[5:59]comes to the Holy Quran pick up the books of two Farsi
[6:05]or the books of exegesis you will find in almost every verse
[6:08]there's differences of opinion so where's the correct where is the correct
[6:12]tips ear of the Quran obviously this the Ummah is not solving
[6:18]this dilemma for us because the Ummah have thousands of views whose
[6:22]view do you take who there is no unanimous agreement that this
[6:30]is the tafseer of the Quran as an example the OMA cannot
[6:34]fulfill this for us even basic everyday issues like will though the
[6:40]verse of the loo in which a last panel to Allah says
[6:45]wash your face your - you know hands arms and then your
[6:50]feet Allah says wipe your head and then your feet do what
[6:53]to your feet wash the feet according to the Sunni understanding of
[6:57]the verse or wipe the mess on the feet according to the
[7:01]explanation of the angle beta and the Shia understanding which one do
[7:04]you choose the AMA is just going to confuse you right if
[7:09]you want to leave matters to the ummah they're going to confuse
[7:16]you so we cannot possibly say that the ummah over here can
[7:19]figure things out for us look at very important issues like job
[7:23]tough wield hidaya predestination freewill after the prophets on Allah our Allah
[7:30]there was chaos in the Muslim movement some Muslims believed in predestination
[7:34]everything we do were predestined - you don't have freewill really God
[7:40]decides everything and everything you do every action you commit is done
[7:45]by God and then you had different sects what does guidance mean
[7:50]these very important matters the Ummah were split about them would God
[8:00]deliver the truth to me through a split OMA that they cannot
[8:03]even agree on anything really even God look at their disagreements on
[8:09]God the qualities of God the attributes of God it justice is
[8:14]that part of the attributes of God some ears say yes some
[8:18]say no as we saw last year when we talked about the
[8:22]Justice of God and the a shot of you right even simple
[8:25]things like that there is no unanimous agreement so the owner cannot
[8:30]fulfill the role of a prophet the Prophet gives you clear truths
[8:34]the Prophet does not confuse you the Prophet gives you half hundred
[8:38]percent hug the AMA confuses you so the AMA cannot take the
[8:45]position of a prophet when it comes to explaining the truth to
[8:49]the newer generations who are not there yes you said Velma can't
[8:54]fulfill the proper ovary we're following people like this tiny Romania how
[8:59]many well we'll get to that we'll mention that very briefly let's
[9:03]take this step by step so our question is is a logical
[9:13]question will God appoint someone to show us the truths or unless
[9:17]a panettone says the Prophet departed you guys figure it out somehow
[9:21]is that logical for a last panel Tata to do something like
[9:27]that let's look at 50 issues the Holy Quran if you examine
[9:31]those verses that speak about a calm legal matters rulings there are
[9:40]only 300 verses out of 6000 and you know 600 6236 verses
[9:44]only 300 verses talk about legal matters the Prophet in his lifetime
[9:52]did not explain every legal issue the Quran does not in detail
[9:56]explain every legal issue so you need someone after the Prophet to
[10:00]explain what the prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa ali did not have the
[10:04]opportunity to examine in depth so as for the Hadees from the
[10:11]profits on Allahu Allahu Allah about legal matters there are about 500
[10:15]so do you think that is sufficient for all these generations to
[10:20]come after and they have thousands of legal issues 500 hadith and
[10:26]300 verses is that sufficient to cover the very details of course
[10:32]not many many times Omar and Abu Bakr would be asked questions
[10:37]and they did not know the answer to because there was no
[10:42]precedent during the time of the prophet sallallaahu anyone they couldn't remember
[10:45]a hadith from the Prophet a situation an incident and event a
[10:51]precedent in order to answer questions like that the prophet sallallaahu Holly
[10:58]you ally in Mecca did not have the freedom to explain legal
[11:03]matters the Muslims were persecuted the prophets priority was a kind and
[11:07]Menken just a belief in God and the day of judgment really
[11:13]kept it simple when he went to Medina so many problems were
[11:16]there civil wars establishing a community hypocrites to deal with the Prophet
[11:20]spent a lot of time defending his community sometimes when he would
[11:26]go to war it could take two months for him to go
[11:29]settle there and come back so the Prophet did not have enough
[11:35]time to explain all legal details so after the Prophet you would
[11:38]see those caliphs were asked questions they did not know the answer
[11:42]to I'll give you a couple of quick examples when Abu Bakr
[11:47]was the Khalifa a drunk man a man who was drunk a
[11:53]drunken man was brought to him now according to the Holy Quran
[11:57]if these conditions are fulfilled there's a punishment for that you get
[12:01]penalized for getting drunk in Muslim society you know there's lashing the
[12:06]Quran talks about it when he was presented before the Prophet before
[12:16]Abu bike he told him all about I lived in an environment
[12:18]and family circumstances in which I really did not know drinking alcohol
[12:25]was forbidden I did not know I was not aware of this
[12:30]law what do you do now I'm uber just thinking is there
[12:35]a precedent in the prophets life did that ever happen he thought
[12:38]and he thought he couldn't figure that out so in the end
[12:41]he got stuck and he told him I don't know what to
[12:45]do with you I don't have the law I don't have the
[12:47]legal ruling now is this possible that Allah will leave the Ummah
[12:52]with a Calif who doesn't know how to address an incident like
[12:55]that in the end of course they always had to resort to
[13:01]Who am I my daddy said I'm and he solved the situation
[13:03]and imam sadiq ali said i'm talks about it he elaborates on
[13:08]this incident he says imam ali on es salaam came he explained
[13:12]to them that this is the ruling if this person really did
[13:17]not know was not aware that this is forbidden by Allah then
[13:20]yes this person will not be punished this person will not be
[13:26]flogged or lashed but you have but he has to prove that
[13:28]in my money I said I'm asked him you never heard of
[13:33]the verse that says alcohol is Haram you never heard of that
[13:35]he says no I swear by God nobody read that verse to
[13:40]me so the prophet sallallaahu I asked some people in his neighborhood
[13:43]f1 Imam Ali Allah's Salam as some people in his neighborhood he
[13:47]told them did you ever recite this verse to him they thought
[13:53]they like no we don't remember reciting this verse so it seemed
[13:57]that he was telling the truth so they let him go so
[14:01]this is an example of those caliphs of the Ummah not knowing
[14:06]a specific ruling because there was no precedent in the prophets life
[14:12]another example romanovna kitab was once asked about a man who divorced
[14:17]his wife two times in jahiliyya before he became Muslim and then
[14:22]after he became Muslim he divorced her a third time now in
[14:25]Islamic law if you divorce your wife the third time what happens
[14:33]she becomes permanently Haram to you unlawful to you unless she marries
[14:39]another man and he divorces her then you can marry her and
[14:43]the fourth time that's Islamic law now a lot of Nakata was
[14:49]asked about the situation this guy divorced his wife twice but this
[14:53]was before Islam jaliyah now that he became Muslim he divorced her
[14:57]does that count the first one or the third one the third
[15:02]time he didn't know he did not know that ruling because as
[15:05]far as he could remember when he was living with the Prophet
[15:11]nobody asked a question like that the point is so many legal
[15:15]details were not directly explained to the Muslims because the Prophet stay
[15:21]in Medina was very short ten years full of wars and challenges
[15:25]and problems how much can you explain to the people that in
[15:30]itself tells us the OMA is not qualified to represent the Prophet
[15:36]and explain all these details to the people besides in addition to
[15:41]all of that so many fabrications happened after the Prophet how do
[15:47]you know even let's say the Prophet did explain all of this
[15:49]let's say he did okay but that did not reach the new
[15:56]generations of Muslims they didn't hear the prophets of Allah on your
[15:59]honor so many things were twisted were changed were forged so many
[16:03]fabrications happened after the Prophet in fact Behati says he himself the
[16:07]author of body you know he has like five thousand or so
[16:13]hadith sahih bukhari he says I selected these five thousand from how
[16:18]many no more more six hundred thousand hadith five thousand from six
[16:28]hundred thousand that means he's like these are the reliable had used
[16:33]in my opinion that means what over five hundred thousand had these
[16:36]are not reliable how do you expect the Muslim to know what
[16:39]the Prophet said when you have this all these fabrications how was
[16:43]the last part out of going to protect the truth from us
[16:45]if he leaves it up to the Ummah is that possible that's
[16:49]not possible that's unacceptable we also see for instance Abu Dawood and
[16:56]his son and he says I selected my hadith from five hundred
[17:01]thousand hadiths you have Ahmed even humble and his Muslim he says
[17:09]I selected these correct hadiths in my opinion from seven hundred fifty
[17:12]thousand that's three-quarters of a million hadith that means there's so many
[17:21]fabrications that happened so how do you know what the Prophet even
[17:24]explained even if he did how is the Omar going to decide
[17:29]that for you and they have different standards who said what the
[17:31]both the standard that Bukhari used who said that's the right standard
[17:34]affirmative in Hamburg has a slightly different standard who said that's the
[17:39]right one so many differences of opinion here what do you do
[17:44]and we're talking about essential matters many of them have to do
[17:50]with oona Dean the pillars of faith so this is a big
[17:53]problem that tells us the OMA is not fit to figure out
[17:58]this for us now a quick objection here you refer to it
[18:01]what do you say about today the Imam Ali Salaam is an
[18:06]occultation we we do believe that God has assigned a leader for
[18:10]us as we shall examine but he's an occultation who is filling
[18:15]that void and gap during the haver of the Imam Ali Serra
[18:17]see our argument in the school of an inmate is that the
[18:24]Imams of a debate in those two centuries after the Prophet they
[18:28]had two hundred years more than two hundred years of time to
[18:35]explain the details of Islamic laws and Islamic beliefs to raise a
[18:41]generation of scholars who would convey those truths to us whereas the
[18:46]prophets of Allah Allahu Allah did not have the opportunity in ten
[18:50]years of medina to do that how much could you do in
[18:56]ten years with all those problems in fact most Muslims became Muslim
[19:00]one the last two years of the prophet's life after i'm and
[19:03]feta after the conquest of Mecca in two years you're going to
[19:08]build scholars you're going to raise scholars that's impossible that's absolutely impossible
[19:13]whereas the Imams of an inmate had two centuries yes there are
[19:19]some differences amongst the Moraga and scholars when it comes to some
[19:23]legal manners but look at the core of faith the belief in
[19:28]Allah the oneness of God the attributes ammama nubile WA the day
[19:33]of judgment the also Nadine 99% agreement that's valid 95 percent in
[19:39]its an agreement 5 percent difference that's valid that's a valid system
[19:42]we're not saying we have to have a hundred percent of the
[19:47]truth remember God is also testing us and that's part of the
[19:50]test when it comes to 50 legal matters if you pick up
[19:54]the resada Emilia the book of rulings for your momjo I know
[19:57]there are some differences the scholars have right when it comes to
[20:00]citing the moon some other issues but when you look at the
[20:07]thousands of rules they've discussed 5,000 rules 4000 rulings what percentage of
[20:13]these rulings do they disagree with what do you think give me
[20:17]an educated guess 5 percent exactly probably even less than 5 percent
[20:22]5 percent difference that means 95 percent they're in agreement that is
[20:28]a system that works that's fine logically rationally you'll accept a system
[20:34]that gives you 95 percent the same results maybe 5 percent differences
[20:38]that's ok see that is a qualified system to give you the
[20:44]truth but when you want to open the path for the entire
[20:49]Ummah since the day of the prophets of Allah Allah and all
[20:51]the Sahaba had different opinions and different it's too hot out and
[20:53]you just want to see the tafseer of one verse you've got
[20:58]30 conflicting opinions what do you do that's not it that's that's
[21:01]not a qualified system but when it comes to the path of
[21:08]a debate within the school of a debate within the system that
[21:10]they have given us the differences are very little they're very minor
[21:13]so there's a lot to discuss about this but briefly this is
[21:19]how we would answer to that objection that look and the end
[21:22]at the system overall it's a working system that's giving you 95%
[21:28]the same results and that's fine and you have 5% differences that's
[21:32]okay just like in any professional field you have some differences here
[21:38]and there that's that's okay therefore we need someone to fulfill the
[21:43]role of that prophet it cannot be the OMA they cannot fulfill
[21:46]that role hence a man Ali bin Abi Talib alayhis-salam in one
[21:53]hadith says allahumma bella lateral aerodrome in car amin lillahi the Hodja
[21:58]he says o Allah it's impossible for the earth to be void
[22:01]of your Hudgins of your proof a human being who serves as
[22:09]your proof in my violin majora either this Hodja is visibly present
[22:14]we have access to them we can see them Oh - Mahalo
[22:20]oh this person is an occultation but in the end we need
[22:26]gods for Jon earthly a lotta brother so judge allahi or baiana
[22:29]- so that the proofs of God remained valid we have someone
[22:34]here on earth physically present on earth to serve as the source
[22:38]of guidance it's extremely important to have someone physically here on earth
[22:43]you know we all believe in the whispers of the devil right
[22:46]the Holy Quran talks about it the devil is a physical being
[22:52]who's from the jinn of course who acts upon us so we
[22:57]DV the Justice of Allah necessitates that there is also a physical
[23:01]being who's the Imam on his setup who represents the source of
[23:05]guidance and he counter acts the effects of the devil they -
[23:11]encounters them that's necessary for a physical being to be here on
[23:19]earth now here is a very important question so we know that
[23:22]the Prophet must appoint someone to fulfill that role our last -
[23:25]I almost choose that person you can't leave it up to the
[23:31]homeland question here can a non-profit achieve such high status of knowledge
[23:34]like a prophet is that even possible let's look at all the
[23:40]Quran there's no floor and give us an instance of someone who
[23:42]was not recognised to be a prophet to have more knowledge than
[23:48]a prophet yes the Quran does not mention his name but the
[23:51]hadith tell us the story of the Hillar this is a Sunnah
[23:56]tell calf verse 65 Fallujah da abdomen Arab Athena Athena who rahmatan
[24:02]Mindanao home in Laguna Alma a last man which Allah talks about
[24:08]Musa al-salaam in which he comes across someone who had knowledge allah
[24:17]says we gave him knowledge Musa told him can you share with
[24:22]me some of your knowledge and you've all heard this story and
[24:26]then what happened when it came to certain issue who's that righteous
[24:30]servant of God who is the filler had more knowledge than Musa
[24:34]in those matters that means the last Palatine I can give a
[24:41]non-profit knowledge that's that is similar to the status of prophethood this
[24:44]is not something that's incompatible with the Quran we do have precedents
[24:48]in the Holy Quran you've all lost you've all heard the story
[24:52]of prophet Suleiman on a sinner and one of his aides one
[24:57]of his successors Asif in Berkeley ah who was not a prophet
[25:00]because he had some knowledge of the book and in the monument
[25:04]al-kitab he was able to even do supernatural things like bringing the
[25:08]huge throne of Bilkis from Yemen to Palestine because he had some
[25:15]knowledge of the book so the Holy Quran gives us examples of
[25:17]individuals who were not prophets yet they had this type of knowledge
[25:21]so if we were to say the Imams of an inmate's have
[25:28]knowledge that prophets had is that blasphemy is that problematic is there
[25:32]anticodon what's the problem in that we'll talk about the knowledge of
[25:34]the amount in detail in the future but this is just to
[25:38]tell us that we can have an imam who fulfills the role
[25:47]of a prophet yes the wise man look man yes some scholars
[25:51]believe he may have been a prophet but many believe he was
[25:56]a wise man he was not a prophet and he had insight
[25:57]from allah subhana wa ta'ala Allah would reveal to his heart divine
[26:02]knowledge and it's not proven that he was a prophet we have
[26:11]many many examples so the Imam then clearly can fulfill the role
[26:15]of the Prophet without any issues now there is one another objection
[26:19]over here the Holy Quran clearly in Surat al-ma'idah verse 3 states
[26:26]and yom Akmal Tilikum Dinoco today I have completed your faith you
[26:32]will find many scholars from other schools of thought citing this verse
[26:37]why do you need an imam religion has been complete what's the
[26:39]need for a Nima Allah clearly states religion has been complete you
[26:44]don't need an imam to explain anything new everything has been explained
[26:48]how do we respond to this objection very briefly we give two
[26:53]answers one answer is a challenge to those other schools of thought
[26:58]the second answer is to provide the real solution when it comes
[27:08]to details of Sharia you will find in Bihar II and in
[27:12]many other books after this verse which was revealed other verses that
[27:18]explain Islamic rulings were also revealed I'll give you an example from
[27:23]Bihari Bihari says the last verse the very last verse to be
[27:29]revealed in the holy quran is what the verse of Libba the
[27:32]verse of usury or interest that explains the laws of usury and
[27:40]that it is Hana ok question if you believe in this I
[27:44]just I thought you just said and the oume Act Mutulu come
[27:49]Dina come when Allah revealed that verse Allah has completed faith everything
[27:53]has been explained then why does the Quran bring another verse which
[27:56]has to do with interest and explain it to the people what
[27:59]does that tell you them about a glioma a cumulative lucuma Dina
[28:05]come today I've completed your faith this in itself is proof that
[28:09]when Allah said today I've completed your faith meaning the general guiding
[28:14]principles have been explained to people but the details know some more
[28:19]details could follow you think the Prophet after this verse he did
[28:22]nothing he just closed his door and sat down in his house
[28:26]that's it religion has been complete there's nothing for me to explain
[28:29]of course not verses would be revealed sometimes new rulings would be
[28:34]explained by the Prophet yes we accept that the verse Ali Omak
[28:38]meant to Lacombe Dina comb means that the general principles the important
[28:44]core beliefs core lost have been explained no doubt about that but
[28:49]the details know there's no contradiction here and saying religion has been
[28:55]complete but some we'll follow that's fine sometimes you could write a
[28:59]constitution for the people and you will say the Constitution is complete
[29:02]but can't you have amendments can't you have some details about the
[29:07]Constitution of course you can that's not a contradiction and so this
[29:10]is the second answer which is the solution that a last part
[29:16]of China does say that I've completed faith for you but alas
[29:19]not saying that every little detail has been explained to you know
[29:22]the main details of Islam the core beliefs the core ideas have
[29:28]been given to you now but as for the details you still
[29:31]need the presence of the Prophet and those days after the revelation
[29:37]of this verse and you also need someone who represents the Prophet
[29:41]to explain many many details which the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa ali
[29:45]did not have a chance to explain so this is how we
[29:48]address a verse like that now before we examine the criteria for
[29:53]an imam let's briefly talk about the Shura over here because you
[30:00]will find other schools of thought when it comes to the position
[30:04]of imama of who's an imam they will tell you that we
[30:07]have the principles of Shura mentioned in the Quran therefore when it
[30:14]comes to choosing the Imam or the Khalifa or the successor the
[30:21]Quran has instructed us to engage in Shura what does sure I
[30:26]mean in English consultation meaning you the Ummah gather and decide who
[30:33]the Imam would be we have to address this very important argument
[30:38]that other schools of thought have mentioned before we examine these two
[30:43]verses of Shura we have a very valid question here if the
[30:50]way to choose the Imam and the Khalifa is by Shura then
[30:55]why is it that none of the first three caliphs became caliphs
[31:01]through Shura how is it that you're teaching Muslims in history that
[31:06]you guys need to choose your Imam through consultation but none of
[31:11]the first three caliphs were actually chosen through this system of consultation
[31:16]is it that a joke let's briefly elaborate on that as for
[31:23]the first caliph Abu Bakr he was not chosen by Shura initially
[31:31]five pledged allegiance then they intimidated others to follow you think there
[31:35]was a referendum in Medina all people come let's do a Shura
[31:40]and choose you know this next group of people they happen to
[31:43]gather under the tent of sativa and it just quickly happened what
[31:49]about other villages and neighboring areas how come they had no part
[31:54]in this Shura he was clearly not appointed by the Shura and
[31:58]the biggest proof that it wasn't Shura in Bihari and other sources
[32:05]when Omar describes our new kebab when he describes how Abu buck
[32:09]was appointed when he describes the first caliphate you know what word
[32:18]does he use to describe it felt er what does fell to
[32:21]me slip something that suddenly happens without preparation that's the meaning of
[32:28]felton and he says fealty to allah who shall wrong you know
[32:33]God really protected us from the slip wait a minute wait a
[32:37]minute why are you describing the Caliphate of Abu black using a
[32:41]word like that does that mean there was really Shura and it
[32:43]was an instruction of the Quran or it's something that you guys
[32:50]cooked and suddenly happened and he says Omar this should not repeat
[32:54]be repeated again it's a feta it should not be repeated again
[32:56]wait a minute if it's a poor anecdote you want it to
[33:01]be repeated again in fact you should tell Muslims just like we
[33:03]chose our first curry for you guys should do the same we
[33:09]don't see that in fact if Abu bucks Caliphate and how he
[33:13]was chosen was according to the principles of Quran then those who
[33:18]selected him like Amman should come out and proud say yes that
[33:23]is how you choose a khalifa and you teach the new generation
[33:29]of muslims to do the same that's something you should be proud
[33:32]of this is something you should teach other generation of Muslims but
[33:37]do we find that no instead what do we find no he's
[33:42]like it was you know a Fanta it was a slip and
[33:46]was something that just happened without any preparation and he should not
[33:50]be repeated again and that's why they did not repeat it again
[33:54]that's the second argument here how was the second cell e4 chosen
[33:57]he was appointed by whom what happened to the Shura where's the
[34:05]Shula just threw it out the window what happened to the shooter
[34:10]third Khalifa how was he appointed by six people how many Muslims
[34:14]were there in the Muslim Ummah thousands tens of thousands by that
[34:20]time why only these six who came up with this criteria anyway
[34:24]that you only have these six people what kind of shoe is
[34:29]this and by the way if really choosing the Khalifa is supposed
[34:33]to be through Shura and consultation don't you think the prophet sallallaahu
[34:37]and it should have explained to us what are the limits of
[34:40]this Charan who's involved in it who's qualified who should be part
[34:47]of it he just leaves it open ended like that at least
[34:50]tell us do do the people of Medina count do we have
[34:54]to ask other villages okay in Medina you've got thousands of people
[34:58]who's qualified to be part of that sure everybody all companions half
[35:04]of the companions those with these qualities I mean when you go
[35:10]to any country to any organization and they have an election system
[35:15]you in their bylaws they have rulings on how this election is
[35:18]to be conducted right do you find an institution which says yeah
[35:23]yeah yeah you should have elections but I don't have a way
[35:26]for you to conduct elections I don't know just go and do
[35:28]it however you want that's a joke so if really it was
[35:34]Shubra how can we don't see the Prophet explained to us the
[35:37]procedure so that in itself tells us Khilafah and ammama is not
[35:43]by shura and the biggest proof is that those first three Caleb's
[35:45]they did not even implement EULA when it came to their Khilafah
[35:48]they want others to implement them you guys should be role models
[35:51]for Muslims if you didn't implement the Shula other Muslims are going
[35:55]to implement the Shura and that's why exactly and that's exactly why
[35:58]throughout history you have dictatorships in the Muslim Ummah where's the Shura
[36:04]because those three set the precedent that it's by dictatorship it's not
[36:10]by Shura that's a problem now let's briefly examine these two verses
[36:16]of the Shura the first one is verse 159 of surah al-e-imran
[36:20]the third chapter in the holy quran 3 159 alas panatela says
[36:27]wash ah we're home Phil um God is commanding the Prophet consult
[36:31]them in the affair that's the meaning of this verse some of
[36:35]them have cited this verse to say yes see you have to
[36:39]consult so when it comes to choosing the Khalifa you have to
[36:42]consult let's technically analyze this verse this verse is speaking to an
[36:51]authority who's the Prophet sallallaahu annually whose authority has already been established
[36:56]we know he's been chosen by God then the verse is telling
[37:04]the Prophet you who are an authority and you are the leader
[37:06]consult your companions when it comes to some issues it's not saying
[37:13]that when it comes to choosing that leader and the one who
[37:17]has authority you take the path of consultation and Shura where in
[37:23]the verse does it say that the verse is talking to someone
[37:26]who's already an authority who's a prophet whose authority has been already
[37:30]determined by allah subhanaw taala now that you've been chosen by God
[37:35]Allah is telling him consult in some matters that's all that's all
[37:39]the verses saying we're in these words wash our home Phil um
[37:45]do you understand that Khilafah and the one who succeeds the Prophet
[37:48]should be my consultation where is that in the first dozen is
[37:53]not addressing that aspect and I'll honestly ask you right now look
[37:57]at this verse wash our home phenom three words come sometime in
[38:02]the affair do you really between you and God do you see
[38:06]this verse talking about an important position like who's going to succeed
[38:11]the Prophet view--the you see that in the verse do you see
[38:16]a clear instruction in the verse about this about such a critical
[38:20]manner do you see it I don't know if you do we
[38:27]can discuss it that's fine so our argument is that this verse
[38:31]cannot be the basis for Shura when it comes to selecting the
[38:40]Khalifa who represents the Prophet and then and then that same verse
[38:45]says to the Prophet you consult them but in the end the
[38:49]decision is yours because after that the verse says further as M
[38:57]tefa TOEIC Allah Allah the verse says shall one phenom yes consult
[39:01]them but then once you want to make the decision you not
[39:07]them once you're making the decision rely on a line just do
[39:10]it that means in the end how many people are making the
[39:18]decision one so really this is just a moral instruction to the
[39:21]Prophet Allah so Allah and the end you have to call the
[39:23]shots you're the Prophet just consult them respect them make them feel
[39:30]important make them feel that their opinion also counts that's all and
[39:34]the end you're making the decision not them which is even proof
[39:38]that this verse is about someone whose authority has already been established
[39:42]who already has authority from God and he's going to make the
[39:45]decisions he just has to consult his companions just to show them
[39:52]respect that's all that's the first verse the second verse surah 2
[39:57]Sharad verse 38 well I'm rowhome sure our Baena home and their
[40:03]affairs as a matter of us as a matter of consultation between
[40:08]them so they're claiming that Khilafah is part of the affairs of
[40:15]these people and therefore it's subject to consultation very brief point over
[40:21]here very brief objection the verse is saying those Affairs which belong
[40:27]to them should be subject to consultation and Shura question Khilafah and
[40:35]the caliphate is that the people's affair or the affair of God
[40:42]does the verse does this verse say anything about that no why
[40:46]are they assuming to begin with that kunafa is from the affairs
[40:53]of the people themselves then it would be subject to consultation no
[40:58]maybe that office as we shall see later kunafa is the Dominion
[41:02]of God not the Dominion of people so using this verse like
[41:08]the verse of the Shura and applying it to the Caliphate is
[41:12]a logical fallacy over here because they're assuming that they're offensive it's
[41:17]part of the affairs and the Dominion of the people then that
[41:20]means they can consult about it no it could be the Dominion
[41:24]of God I'll give you an example let's say the Constitution says
[41:28]the people the citizens of this state they decide and they elect
[41:34]on their affairs and then you have the Supreme Court now in
[41:41]our country who directly appoints the Supreme Court justices who appoints them
[41:46]the president now can people come and object and say no wait
[41:53]a minute the Constitution said we the people decide on our affairs
[41:57]why is the president choosing and suppose selecting the Supreme Court judges
[42:04]when the Constitution says you decide on your affairs that means those
[42:09]Affairs that have been established to be your Dominion and you can
[42:12]vote on them but if something has been assigned to the president
[42:15]that's not your Dominion anymore that's the president's Dominion same thing over
[42:21]here when it comes to Khalifa we have Quranic evidence and prophetic
[42:24]hadith which says Khilafah is the Dominion of allah subhanaw taala he
[42:29]chooses so you can't subject that to the consultation in any case
[42:39]upon objectively unbiased ly examining the verse of consultation we see no
[42:45]clear reference to kunafa the Prophet did not talk about it and
[42:49]the limits of it none of the first caliphs implemented it and
[42:52]you want us to believe that this Gaddafi is by consultation show
[42:57]us a historical president precedent from the prophet's life from even the
[43:02]caliphs lives fine we'll accept that from the caliphs lives there isn't
[43:05]such a precedent that means Khilafah imamat cannot be by consultation there
[43:11]is no evidence for them so next we are going to examine
[43:16]than how as the Imam chosen is there anything in the prophets
[43:25]life that tells us more about how an imam is chosen this
[43:28]is a very very sensitive discussion it's a very critical discussion too
[43:35]because most Muslims in history have not taken this evidence so it's
[43:39]very important for us to discuss this and analyze this and what
[43:41]about the verses of the Holy Quran when it comes to the
[43:49]words and positions like Imam Khalifa what does the Quran say about
[43:54]them are they by the designation of God or Allah Spinoza Allah
[43:59]leaves it for the people to decide the Imam and the Khalifa
[44:04]this is something that we will examine next week in sha-la-la-la-la-la allah
[44:09]sayidina muhammadin wa ali al-taher him
