[4:02][Music] [Music] foreign in relation to the orphans attend to their nutrition
[5:32]and do not forget their interests in the middle of yours used
[5:41]to always look out and seek to empathize with the orphans and
[5:48]the poor the widows and the needy of their time if there
[5:52]was a striking similarity between the two of them you would find
[5:56]that they would always seek to look out for the destitute of
[6:02]their society those voices who hardly anyone ever listened to and in
[6:07]many cases people forgot because the world that we live in without
[6:10]a doubt is a ravaged world the world that we live in
[6:14]today is a world that has been ravaged by war after war
[6:18]the reality is that in my own lifetime god knows how many
[6:24]wars i have seen i may not have been the victim of
[6:28]bomb blasts or may not have been the victim for example of
[6:32]shelling or not being the victim of assassinations or executions but many
[6:37]times in our life we've seen country after country where we've witnessed
[6:42]videos of people who've been killed either in the middle east or
[6:48]for example in parts of africa or in other parts of the
[6:55]world the victims of this without a doubt are the other members
[6:58]of their family and the community at large if now for example
[7:01]a syrian father is killed who are the victims the first of
[7:07]those victims are the children of that particular person the children of
[7:11]that person grow up without having that mercy in their life and
[7:14]that blessing that is a father imagine all of us sitting here
[7:20]today grew up without a father in our life there would be
[7:22]a gaping hole in our life if that father figure was not
[7:26]there in some cases not a father in some cases some lost
[7:30]their mothers and their fathers are still alive in other cases you
[7:32]find another of the victims of course is a whole community known
[7:38]as the widows of this world there are millions of widows who
[7:41]live in the world today who are victims either of a bomb
[7:46]blast that occurred to a member of their family in afghanistan or
[7:49]in yemen or in syria or in iraq or in any part
[7:53]of the world where you've seen wars take place so now on
[7:57]the one hand you have a group known as the orphans and
[8:01]another you have a group known as the widows and then what
[8:05]happens after that is without a doubt these two groups can in
[8:08]some cases just about make ends meet if you're a widow in
[8:15]certain societies it's not easy for you to balance looking after your
[8:20]children and going out to earn a living even if you had
[8:22]the most stable family structure there are certain societies and certain cultures
[8:26]that don't even allow you to go out and work there are
[8:30]certain places in the world where a lady it is seen as
[8:34]a taboo for her to work in a certain environment so now
[8:37]automatically that lady has to ask herself how do i fend for
[8:41]myself do i keep going to my elder brother and asking him
[8:44]for a handout do i keep going to my cousins and asking
[8:47]them for a handout suddenly the voice of this lady which at
[8:52]one point may have been full of confidence you suddenly don't hear
[8:57]it anymore that lady may end up having to resort to a
[9:01]world to make ends meet as in there are certain members of
[9:07]the east european world who today and in the past have had
[9:10]to literally sell their bodies to make ends meet they fly to
[9:16]europe away from where they lived a either because of poverty or
[9:20]be because of war and they go and sell their bodies they
[9:23]sell their bodies because they believe that here there is a chance
[9:29]for them to earn a living yes certain people may look at
[9:31]them and say well that's their own responsibility but never forget for
[9:34]some people the world that they've come from is a world where
[9:41]psychologically emotionally physically they've been destroyed and to add insult to injury
[9:49]sometimes we as human beings don't even bat an eyelid we know
[9:51]that there are people who are affected by the war in yemen
[9:56]yet we could wake up handsomely and perfectly without thinking twice about
[10:00]them even though our holy prophet peace be upon him and his
[10:03]family said whoever wakes up in the morning and is not concerned
[10:10]with the affairs of the muslim world or the muslim ummah then
[10:15]he is not a muslim someone says but i am a muslim
[10:19]i pray and i fast but if islam was only present fasting
[10:24]i can take you to a yoga class and an atkins diet
[10:25]and we can work it out and i'll make a religion and
[10:30]i'll call it my religion i can find intermittent fasting plus another
[10:33]form of hiking and we can make it a religion reality is
[10:38]the religion was meant to be a religion that socially transformed the
[10:43]society that allowed you to always keep a tabs on those who
[10:49]aren't as fortunate as you the world is arbitrary some of us
[10:52]could have been born in iraq in 1985 but rather some of
[10:56]us were born in london at that time had we been born
[10:58]in iraq we would have heard the bombs or planes coming in
[11:03]in the middle of a gulf war but we were born in
[11:07]london i did not see that but why should someone who was
[11:09]born in that be forgotten why should someone look down at such
[11:13]people prophet isa prophet jesus both of them wanted to give as
[11:24]much energy and as much love to the destitute of their time
[11:26]if you look at their lives you'll find that the people who
[11:31]lived in their vicinity saw nothing but sympathy from them so nothing
[11:35]but empathy from them so nothing but love from them saw nothing
[11:39]but care from them at the end of the day as imam
[11:44]assad and others would mention it's not about you giving a small
[11:50]amount of charity that's not the shame the shame is you refusing
[11:53]when you see there are those in need there are some out
[11:58]there who hardly give back rather they make a million excuses yes
[12:02]when they are told as soon as i see in verse 47
[12:05]we recite it all the time when they are told that why
[12:10]don't you give charity towards the way of god and their reply
[12:13]of some people is why should we feed those who if allah
[12:18]wanted to he could have fed yes sometimes you'll see some people
[12:22]when you ask them to look out for the needy for the
[12:27]widow for the orphan for the poor they reply by saying why
[12:31]doesn't god look out for them god couldn't look after them god
[12:33]can give them they believe in a god and religion for them
[12:35]is the opiate of the masses so let them hold on to
[12:39]that god no that shouldn't be our attitude reality is our attitude
[12:42]should be that we put all our theological conclusions aside and say
[12:47]that's another human no child deserves to be in an environment where
[12:52]they grow up not being able to eat the food that you
[12:57]eat you're able to go and deliver straight away you are able
[12:59]to go on any app straight away i want kfc bring kfc
[13:03]i want mcds bring my keys i want pizza hut bring me
[13:07]pizza hut i want food from any restaurant i get straight away
[13:09]there are children in the world who dream dream of having meat
[13:14]on their table forget being able to order every night in the
[13:17]holy month of ramadan and that's why when people come and ask
[13:21]us why do muslims fast in this holy month it really is
[13:23]because it needs to bring us down to earth the reality is
[13:27]that this world that i live in is a world where i
[13:32]could easily forget myself and naturally in arabic by being called insane
[13:36]if anyone asks you what's the meaning of insane in sun can
[13:40]have a number of meanings i'll elaborate in a future discussion one
[13:44]of the meanings from we forget we forget that there are others
[13:52]in the world prophet jesus their main role was to act as
[13:59]reminders for their time and remind us for every time that we
[14:03]as jesus himself says have been anointed to preach the gospel to
[14:10]the poor if you look within the book of luke 4 18
[14:12]you'll see that jesus says we've been anointed to preach the gospel
[14:16]to the poor that the poor should not be forgotten the downtrodden
[14:21]should not be neglected and it's true that when you look at
[14:24]their words and you look at their actions you find subhanallah these
[14:30]two personalities can be a source of happiness for the whole world
[14:36]today if the world studied the words of jesus and the actions
[14:39]of ali believe you me we could eradicate poverty together let's tonight
[14:46]examine the fourth of the similarities between and i'd like to do
[14:51]this in the following stages number one what if somebody turns around
[14:54]to you and says that there are poor in the world because
[14:57]they are lazy it's nothing to do with us or if god
[15:02]wanted to he could have helped them how do we reply to
[15:06]these people number two which verse is in the bible does god
[15:09]look out for the poor does god remind us of our responsibility
[15:12]to the poor does god remind us to speak out for the
[15:18]poor does god remind us about the fatherless orphans and about the
[15:22]widows who need protection and how fundamental are those verses in our
[15:27]life today and why did nabi islam stress these verses to those
[15:33]around him then number three why does jesus say blessed are those
[15:38]who are poor in spirit for them is the kingdom of heaven
[15:42]number four how does imam ali salam say the same thing in
[15:49]his when he says within his own actions that a person should
[16:07]always look out for the poor even if they're praying their prayer
[16:11]may be disturbed to answer the hajjat of the poor and how
[16:15]did he show this in his life number five how did imam
[16:19]ali also show this in relation to the widows of his time
[16:21]those who had lost their husbands at battles like saphir and naharawan
[16:27]how did you look out for them and number six how did
[16:31]imam ali look out for the orphans in kufa and how on
[16:35]a day like this were certain orphans confused where is the man
[16:38]who used to be with us every night let's examine this and
[16:42]dissect the topic in complete depth shaytan has a particular way of
[16:46]affecting us helping people and especially helping the poor or the orphan
[16:53]or the widows in charity quran itself tells us that what he
[17:01]promises you is that poverty will be what happens when you give
[17:04]charity why are you giving so much we have to balance our
[17:09]books sometimes you hear this that why did you need to give
[17:11]so much give 15 pounds if you've given 15 it would have
[17:16]been easier or giving 100 we could be affected by our investments
[17:20]or our savings what shaytan does cleverly is that shaytan the quran
[17:24]says gets in the way of you empathizing with the poor what
[17:27]shaytan also does is that he tells you it's their fault they're
[17:33]poor it's not yours their laziness is what leads to their poverty
[17:37]on the one hand laziness can lead to poverty without a doubt
[17:42]that there are certain people in this world who have the ability
[17:47]to get themselves out of their difficult situations you know if you
[17:51]live in this country the very fact that you have benefits dss
[17:54]universal credit on the one hand is beneficial on the one hand
[18:00]there are people who are elderly people who are physically challenged people
[18:03]who are mentally challenged people who cannot necessarily work like others they
[18:07]deserve that there is a welfare system that looks out for them
[18:12]that there is no doubt but on the other hand sometimes there
[18:13]are those who can go out and work but subhanallah one of
[18:19]the diseases that can begin to affect them is laziness prophet isa
[18:23]and imam ali warned that sometimes poverty can be the result of
[18:28]laziness that there's no doubt if allah has given you a piece
[18:34]of land and you're able to water that land god has given
[18:37]you hands that can be used to pick up things god has
[18:40]given you a voice that can be used to answer a telephone
[18:43]or to make calls god has given you the feet that can
[18:48]walk around london and deliver things then why rely on a government
[18:51]handout because shaytan tells you listen if the government's giving you fifteen
[18:55]hundred two thousand two thousand five hundred pounds a month what are
[18:57]you doing going out to work that most scammers in the world
[19:01]of benefits are muslims muslims scam the benefit system more than anyone
[19:09]else am i the only one saying this no you see reports
[19:11]you see the names of the scammers and you see the person
[19:16]got seven businesses on the side and that person himself is taking
[19:20]money if someone you say is unemployed he's not getting a monthly
[19:23]salary that person is a difficult situation has been through a difficult
[19:27]no problem but when somebody has already got a number of shops
[19:33]and somebody has already got investments in other countries and then you
[19:36]know there are some people in the muslim community who embarrassed us
[19:38]that in reality they can't call themselves poor they scam the system
[19:44]and sometimes poverty sometimes may be a trial from allah don't think
[19:49]when you see someone poor automatically you imagine that this person he
[19:53]is unlucky in life no sometimes you yourself may lead to such
[20:00]a damaging situation there are certain muslims who don't live in london
[20:03]they may live somewhere else in europe or they move to london
[20:07]while they have another house somewhere in europe they return to europe
[20:10]sign to show that they're still living in that country so they
[20:12]claim benefits from two places there are some muslims who register themselves
[20:16]and their wives are separated or as divorced so there's a double
[20:20]income coming in what do we answer god on the day of
[20:23]judgement some of them you know what they say it's because these
[20:28]are kufar governments disbelievers so we have the right to steal from
[20:31]them prophet jesus and imam would never accept that a person lies
[20:39]or a person steals from another human being to try and cover
[20:42]their losses on the contrary they did not want to build such
[20:46]an environment on the one hand laziness can lead to poverty imam
[20:50]amir mean makes it clear that sometimes you neglect what god has
[20:54]given you that could end up leading to poverty on the other
[20:59]hand no sometimes poverty or being an orphan or being a widow
[21:02]is not because of laziness if my husband has gone out to
[21:06]work and then come does not come back because of a bomb
[21:09]blast because of an isis or another terrorist group that cannot be
[21:14]blamed on laziness what have i done as a widow to deserve
[21:17]this or if my father has gone out to work and does
[21:20]not come back because someone shot him even shot them accidentally i
[21:25]become an orphan what have i done wrong you can't blame me
[21:28]laziness on me this idea that we paint everybody with the same
[21:31]brush is one of the works of shaytan shaiban wants to build
[21:36]a society where people paint everyone saying rush you must be poor
[21:40]because you're lazy because you have no incentive because you have no
[21:43]momentum no on the country there are some people who are poor
[21:48]in this world they never deserve to be but certain bad decisions
[21:51]led them to that from other people what's it their fault there
[21:56]are some who escaped from their homes and became homeless on the
[21:59]streets because they were being physically abused at home every day that
[22:02]person is not poor because they want it to be that person
[22:04]is poor because of the fact that they had to escape a
[22:09]terror in their house a person is an orphan a widow we
[22:14]don't go around and blaming their laziness as to why they've reached
[22:17]that stage on the contrary nor do we look down at anyone
[22:22]who's reached that stage one of the worst things to do is
[22:26]have takabur because they don't earn as much as you you know
[22:29]i'll tell you something which was one of the most disgusting things
[22:31]i've ever seen in london and in manhattan london and manhattan are
[22:37]probably the two most prestigious cities in the world do you know
[22:41]there are certain buildings where they have a rich door and a
[22:45]poor door i want you one day to google when you have
[22:47]time google poor door someone says what do you mean port or
[22:50]bubba it's a building there's only one door to enter sometimes when
[22:55]you build a luxury building in a certain prestigious area you have
[22:59]to give certain amount of units affordable homes affordable to key workers
[23:04]for example teachers train drivers people who allow that city to in
[23:10]reality function you have to try and have as a for example
[23:13]someone who's a builder you have to say to the council if
[23:17]you're gonna give me this whole planning permission for 170 flats i
[23:21]promise that out of those 170 35 of them i'm gonna give
[23:25]to key workers there are some flats in those buildings which are
[23:29]nine million dollars now that train driver when you give them a
[23:32]flat that's affordable what is the amount they have to pay they
[23:35]put 10 down that's it that you had to give so that
[23:40]these people had a place to live when they come in and
[23:42]work and transport everybody do you know what some of the rich
[23:45]members of manhattan society said in one particular building because manhattan is
[23:49]divided either into condos or co-ops condo you may own outright but
[23:57]the co-op there's a board the board has to look at you
[24:01]the board has to see your face maybe see your color and
[24:04]then see whether they want you in that building or not you
[24:07]can live in park madison lexington fifth are you allowed to or
[24:12]not the board decides in some cases do you know what some
[24:15]of them said said we don't want to enter the same entrance
[24:17]as the poor people make a separate entrance for us this same
[24:23]person by the way maybe someone who loves moses maybe someone who
[24:30]loves jesus maybe someone who may even love david maybe someone who
[24:34]loves solomon maybe someone who loves abraham me and the poor do
[24:39]not enter from the same door they made a separate door for
[24:44]the poor people of the building a separate door a separate door
[24:48]completely a door that was separate because they didn't want the rich
[24:51]and the poor to enter you therefore found was this what jesus
[24:54]said imam ali completely opposite never would jesus or imam ali condone
[25:01]that a person does not sit with the poor or a person
[25:06]does not want to talk to the poor mind you in our
[25:10]muslim communities you see this there are some families they want to
[25:12]only live with a certain class of families there are some people
[25:16]who only want to be with a certain class of people may
[25:18]allah never show us that day on the contrary i don't look
[25:22]for your wealth i look for your reality your morals someone turned
[25:26]around and said okay why then doesn't god look after them you
[25:29]call god why doesn't god look after them and i've always said
[25:33]that george bernard sure answered this in the best of ways george
[25:36]bernard shaw was asked why are there poor people in the world
[25:42]and he replied because of my hair listen i'm sorry is that
[25:45]because of my hair so what do you mean he george bernie
[25:49]sure had no hair in the middle and had lots of hair
[25:52]on the sides he said good production bad distribution i have hair
[26:01]on the side i want it here in the middle why'd you
[26:03]give me a lot of hair on the side and nothing in
[26:05]the middle production is good distribution is bad don't blame god on
[26:11]this rather you ask yourself about the distribution can you not afford
[26:15]to sponsor a house in yemen can you not afford to sponsor
[26:20]a well in afghanistan how much is the world 1500 pounds for
[26:23]some of us that's a half or a quarter of a holiday
[26:27]resort that we spend time in in some cases the person can
[26:31]help yemen afghanistan don't blame god the distribution the world's distribution in
[26:36]some cases a few people have the majority of the wealth of
[26:39]the world therefore what did he do within the bible you saw
[26:44]that jesus preached a particular message what was the message first message
[26:50]and both of these messages the first two are related to the
[26:56]poor from which book proverbs i want all of you if you
[26:59]can there are two quotes in proverbs which are wonderful when looking
[27:03]at the world of god when it comes to the poor the
[27:07]first of them proverbs 21 13.
[27:10]in proverbs 21 13 what does it say if a man shuts
[27:17]his hairs when they hear the cry of someone poor then there
[27:20]will be a day when they cry they too shall not be
[27:27]answered listen to that line if you if a man shuts their
[27:29]ears when they hear the cry of the poor then that same
[27:34]man one day also shall not be answered when i hear the
[27:40]cry of the poor i can easily pick up my remote control
[27:42]and change the page i may see a report or i may
[27:47]see a fundraiser or i may see charity being raised oh not
[27:51]again they're trying to raise food change it shaytan promises you that
[27:56]you'll be poor if you give what happens is if you neglect
[28:02]their cries or they'll be a day your cry will not be
[28:04]answered believe you me there are certain countries in this world which
[28:07]were the richest countries now they're struggling that may have been because
[28:13]the time they never heard the cries of others they never thought
[28:16]there'd be a day when for example they would be the ones
[28:19]crying i look for example certain countries in the middle east there
[28:24]are certain countries in the middle east in the 60s they were
[28:27]called the paris of the middle east yes there are certain countries
[28:32]in the middle east in the 60s their rivers used to flourish
[28:34]people used to have restaurants by the rivers those same countries reached
[28:38]the day no one heard their cries in the book of proverbs
[28:44]first one 21 13 if a man hears and shuts their ears
[28:49]when they hear the cry of the poor there will be a
[28:50]day no one will answer them as well when i hear someone
[28:54]on the street saying to me do you have any money i
[28:56]shouldn't shut my ear as if this isn't a human being sitting
[29:00]there because we're judgmental what do we do when someone's on the
[29:03]streets i bet they're gonna use it to go and drink alcohol
[29:08]who are you to judge who are you who are you that
[29:09]man is crying to you don't shut your ears and just walk
[29:14]past if if you have some coins take the coin out and
[29:16]give it to him and then on top of that if you're
[29:20]a follower of jesus said imam ali on top of that what
[29:24]should you do you say sorry if i don't have more.
[29:26]don't think that you're doing someone a favor who's poor when you
[29:32]give them on the contrary they're giving you and doing you a
[29:35]favor that you've been given the opportunity to help the cry of
[29:37]another human being i hear another human being crying this should be
[29:43]an opportunity they've given me that i'm able to be a wesler
[29:47]from god and intermediate to help those particular people i see people
[29:52]walk past the homeless in london and many focus on what's happening
[29:56]in yemen and afghanistan and so on but how about the streets
[30:00]of london how about your own area if you're in toronto your
[30:01]area if you're in dar es salaam your area in your own
[30:05]streets you see someone who's poor i see people carry thousands upon
[30:08]thousands to the middle east how about your own area in your
[30:13]area there are sadha to apo there are non-muslims who are homeless
[30:16]there are youth who are on the streets i go to that
[30:20]person i hear them crying i don't say i bet they're a
[30:22]drug addict i bet they're gonna use it for maybe they will
[30:26]maybe maybe they will maybe your smile may make them ask who
[30:29]is this person who has given me i in the past have
[30:33]gone past some people i made it a first point in my
[30:35]life that if i leave a restaurant and we have food i
[30:39]made the first point that we take it away i don't care
[30:42]if it's the most famous most prestigious restaurant on earth or the
[30:47]most basic food i can walk out there is someone who's crying
[30:50]in the streets of london someone who cannot afford something you haven't
[30:54]even bothered to think about the bill on that cry proverbs 21
[31:01]13 says if you shut your ears when a poor person cries
[31:04]then there'll be a day when you will cry and you will
[31:09]not be answered that's on the first level on the second level
[31:12]proverbs where 31 8 speak out for the destitute don't remain silent
[31:21]for them all of us in our houses should inculcate what the
[31:25]bible says on this line the bible says that you speak out
[31:31]for the poor judge fairly the poor don't forget the poor don't
[31:35]be those who neglect in every whatsapp group that you have keep
[31:39]sending anything that you have to help poor people whether sometimes it's
[31:43]in your community remember we always talk about international drive sometimes in
[31:46]our own communities there are people who are facing financial difficulties they
[31:49]haven't recovered from since kovid they could not pay mortgages they could
[31:52]not pay rent they could not pay school fees i should speak
[31:56]out for these people by sending messages to people who i know
[31:59]are doing well and by saying that there's someone in my community
[32:04]who's not doing too well is there any help that you can
[32:07]help when someone comes to ask you for help don't say i
[32:10]don't have say maybe i do not have now but i'm gonna
[32:15]speak to somebody who may have that's islam the bible in the
[32:20]book of proverbs what did it say in the book of proverbs
[32:24]you found that it made it clear speak out for the destitute
[32:26]because many of these children whether they're poor and they have no
[32:31]family around them many of them don't have a voice it's embarrassing
[32:33]believe you me it's embarrassing sometimes i see some of these romanian
[32:37]beggars in central london i hear people saying oh these are gypsies
[32:40]these are scum okay look you may not like somebody always coming
[32:45]up to you and they might even say salaam alaikum and maybe
[32:47]they're not even muslim maybe they're not muslim they say salaam alaikum
[32:50]maybe you see someone coming to play a particular musical instrument next
[32:53]to you and all he wants is something maybe you don't want
[32:57]to give but don't be arrogant towards that person that person it
[33:01]is the most embarrassing thing for them to see 20 30 people
[33:04]relaxing in a shisha cafe looking at them and just going go
[33:09]that's an embarrassment that's not something i can just laugh off nor
[33:12]is it something that i always have to give but at least
[33:16]i can make the person feel good with a smile in one
[33:18]way or the other because that person doesn't have a voice for
[33:21]them to speak yes you see them talking to you yes you
[33:23]see them saying to you give me what you can but they
[33:26]don't have a voice in all honesty it wasn't their fault they
[33:28]were born in a certain area at a certain time where communism
[33:32]said that we're going to bring equality and before you knew it
[33:34]the leader was in a limousine and everybody else was working industrial
[33:37]sites it wasn't their fault so you found therefore in the bible
[33:43]what did jesus say anointed one i've come to preach the gospel
[33:46]to the poor but remember that if you shut your ears when
[33:48]they cry there'll be a day no one will answer your cry
[33:53]and remember that you are their voice so speak for them don't
[33:56]neglect them jesus son of mary love to sit with the poor
[34:00]he had no problem you're poor and you're dirty you're not dirty
[34:03]to me come hold my hands i will wash your feet because
[34:07]you have had it tough in life i will sit with you
[34:11]i'll break bread with you that was the way of arista son
[34:14]of mary and that's why in another line what does he say
[34:17]he changes the metaphor by saying in the line in the bible
[34:23]blessed are the poor in spirit for for them is the kingdom
[34:27]of heaven poor in spirit what do you mean poor in spirit
[34:29]you see you could be fakir economically you could what's the difference
[34:37]between the two a poor person economically we've already discussed they don't
[34:41]have the pounds or the dollars to be able to pay for
[34:43]everything a poor person spiritually can end up being the wealthiest person
[34:50]in the eyes of allah why because i recognize in reality i'm
[34:54]not self-sufficient even i one day could go bankrupt and lose everything
[34:57]who am i to think that my wealth will remain with me
[35:02]forever isn't that true there'll be a day my business falls what
[35:05]do i do at that moment what i do is i recognize
[35:09]i was always a faker i never became rich why because the
[35:13]reality is there's only one reni master or my master you are
[35:32]the rich you are the wealthy and i'm the poor does that
[35:34]mean imam said he had no money it's not that no it's
[35:37]that my master i can only be the ghani the day that
[35:42]i never needed you but the reality is to wake up i
[35:47]needed you to breathe i needed you to walk i needed you
[35:49]to educate myself i needed you to talk i needed you to
[35:54]go back to sleep i needed you how then am i wealthy
[35:56]there is no such thing as me being wealthy i'm always a
[36:00]fakir when it comes in relation to you i have nothing i
[36:04]don't possess anything the dunya that is here you are the maalik
[36:09]not me again in the moon you are the master and i
[36:21]am what i am one of the slaves in reality yes who
[36:25]is there for the slaves except the master no one on this
[36:29]earth in reality can turn around and say they're wealthy nobody if
[36:33]you show me bezos or you show me buffet or you show
[36:38]me gates or you show me musk you show me any of
[36:43]them the reality is all of them will have a day where
[36:44]they have to go six feet under isn't that true can their
[36:49]money buy it no could that money buy for herod or for
[36:52]pontius pilate their life could it buy for pharaoh his life no
[36:57]so in reality who's rich in this world i'll tell you who's
[37:00]rich the richest will always remain allah and the ones after him
[37:05]are the ones who hold on to the likes of prophet jesus
[37:17]because when you realize your real poverty that you really are you
[37:23]will never neglect another because you realize that listen me and you
[37:26]are the same one day it's been good for you there's a
[37:30]day for you and there's a day for me there's a day
[37:33]that you've done well and i haven't there's a day that i'll
[37:35]do well and you haven't the reality is when we go to
[37:39]the kabul all of us are equal what differentiates us is our
[37:41]taqwa therefore proverbs 21 13 proverbs 31 8 then he talks about
[37:50]who the orphans and the widows in the bible in the book
[37:54]of psalms 68 5 what does he say father of the fatherless
[37:58]protector of the widows is god when an orphan has no father
[38:06]who becomes her father father of the fatherless and protector of the
[38:12]widows is god jesus did not just focus on poor and often
[38:17]jesus don't focus on the poor the orphans and the widows are
[38:22]a major part of society why do i say this do you
[38:25]know what happens when you're an orphan a widow a number of
[38:28]things can happen number one is that this can bring a question
[38:33]on faith when you go through these things when you don't have
[38:37]a father in your life everyone else does when you lose your
[38:40]husband cruelly it could your faith could become question you start questioning
[38:44]even god's existence poverty the same then number two you get angry
[38:52]quickly yes therefore those people who are orphans or widows we have
[38:56]to look after them because those people look around them and they're
[38:59]like everyone's got a father everyone has for example let's say husband
[39:02]why why me why did i lose my husband at such a
[39:06]young age why did i lose my dad so cruelly at such
[39:10]a young age such people are the ones god says if you
[39:12]don't look after i'm looking after in the bible you look for
[39:17]example in psalm 68 5 god says father of the fatherless and
[39:21]protector of the widows is god this is his city of habitation
[39:26]then you look in deuteronomy in book 10 of deuteronomy god wants
[39:30]justice for who for the fatherless for the widows and for those
[39:37]who travel on the earth you know sometimes you read in the
[39:39]quran people always ask me i understand who is always here are
[39:50]those who are the sojourners of this earth those who travel and
[39:56]sometimes don't have enough to meet their needs and so therefore even
[39:59]there's a certain allocation of hums that can be there for those
[40:01]who are from the sons of that particular path therefore what do
[40:07]we find we find that in the bible jesus mentions the poor
[40:10]the fatherless and the widows that these in society are the ones
[40:15]you should seek justice for don't neglect them and that's why why
[40:19]does the bible come down harshly you go towards deuteronomy or leviticus
[40:22]or you go to other works or chapters within the bible why
[40:25]do they come down harshly that if you are a businessman and
[40:29]someone poor comes to you don't start charging interest on them what
[40:34]do you think jesus biggest problem was his biggest problem were those
[40:39]from the jewish community who on the one hand the part of
[40:42]their life was for god the other part was for their pockets
[40:46]yes if they see a widow no effect she's lost their husbands
[40:49]the husband come here interest sees someone poor interest the bible came
[40:53]down harsh that when you see in your community a widow or
[40:58]see someone poor have a soft heart towards them they owe you
[41:01]a certain amount of money don't start charging interest while the disease
[41:05]of this earth economically is interest and the disease of this earth
[41:10]socially is alcohol anyone who's a promoter of interest and alcohol as
[41:16]many reform programs as you make to try and remove the ills
[41:20]of society while these two are around none of the ills will
[41:22]be removed while alcohol is there with the possibility of it destroying
[41:26]somebody and while interest is there with the way that a loan
[41:32]shark can eat you so one bridging loan can destroy a human's
[41:34]life yes that's all it needs one and it destroys the human
[41:40]being's life and you see them crying when 2008 happens we said
[41:44]stay away from that interest world one light has no heart a
[41:48]society that has that within it is a society full of diseases
[41:51]so you found that jesus in his words and his actions wanted
[41:55]every spectrum of society to be covered was imam al-islam the reflection
[42:01]exactly the same reflection everything that jesus said you found was embodied
[42:06]in the life of imam allah blessed are those who are poor
[42:12]in spirit ever once in his life believed that he was the
[42:17]custodian of anything on this earth did he ever believe that his
[42:20]house this his uh deserved the best house or he deserved the
[42:23]best horse even when he wanted to marry father he made it
[42:28]clear that whatever i have yet i've got a horse i've got
[42:33]a shield you know i've got my armor for example whatever you
[42:35]want to take from me oh proper and i've got my sword
[42:39]that's all i own in this world the same alibaba left this
[42:42]world on the night of the 21st couple of nights earlier when
[42:46]his daughter brings him three basic portions of food we're not even
[42:49]talking amazing roast chicken or rice and curry or the biggest lamb
[42:56]if someone brings you some yogurt and maybe some bread and he
[43:00]says i don't want to go to the lord on a full
[43:04]stomach that's the embodiment of blessed are those who are poor in
[43:09]spirit that i am a fakery in the sense that allah you
[43:14]are on the first level but on the second level every one
[43:26]of those areas of society the destitute whether it became who whether
[43:31]it became the poor of his community or the orphans or the
[43:34]widows he was willing in his salah to have it interrupted so
[43:40]that the hajjat of someone poor is answered when a poor person
[43:44]in the mosque of rasulallah medina goes around saying give me something
[43:47]give me something i'm poor everybody has neglected him remember what the
[43:52]bible said someone cries to you about their poverty you shut your
[43:57]ears there'll be a day that you won't be answered that person
[44:00]the mosque nobody is answering him imam ali look what islam became
[44:04]salah did not become the ends it was the means the ends
[44:08]was for you to grow as a human being for you to
[44:12]be an empathetic human being and a human being who realizes that
[44:14]there are kids out there crying there are elderly out there who
[44:17]are begging on the streets don't neglect them when imam put out
[44:22]that finger in that to allah subhanahu wa ta'ala he became his
[44:26]guardian on the earth what does it mean it's because of this
[44:39]ayah surah 5 verse 55.
[44:42]this ayah said god allah allah is the guardian of those who
[44:50]believe he takes them from darkness to life but sometimes that guardianship
[44:54]he gives a bit of it to his creation rasulullah also became
[45:01]allah then after rasulullah who became allah's guardian of his message on
[45:06]the earth who became the manifestation of god's karam the manifestation of
[45:13]god's jude the manifestation of god's mercy on this earth does not
[45:18]imam ali even though he is the manifestation of jude imam says
[45:26]if imam ali is you are the one full of beneficence and
[45:41]generosity and i am the stingy who is there for the stingy
[45:46]like me except you if you o mawlana the stingy then what
[45:49]am i you are the one who would go around if there
[45:53]was a wallah of the treasury of the muslims had some coins
[45:58]he'd sweep it up until it went to everywhere other than me
[46:03]i could keep it in my pocket no there are poor people
[46:06]on the street people asking why are you living like this he
[46:09]said how can i call myself leader while i'm not living the
[46:13]way my people are living the worst of them who's facing poverty
[46:17]and difficulty when molar therefore would see the poor he would make
[46:21]it clear that when you don't want to give you might be
[46:25]ashamed all right about the amount that you're giving no the real
[46:28]shame is refusing to give no muslim in the holy month of
[46:34]ramadan if they finish this month and they have not donated to
[46:36]a charity then your shahada ramadan has not been transformative even while
[46:40]if you donate one pound that is better than you refusing to
[46:44]donate on the one hand the poor imam made sure like his
[46:50]father-in-law the holy prophet peace be upon him his family had trained
[46:54]him better than anyone welcome bilal welcome welcome anyone i don't care
[47:00]if they're rich or they're poor we sit with them like we'd
[47:02]sit with the wealthiest why do you think some of the meccans
[47:05]hated the prophet why does he make us sit with the riffraff
[47:07]and the poor of society his own servant he made him feel
[47:13]like the richest man on earth his own servant he made her
[47:17]feel like a princess in the house never would he look down
[47:22]at somebody because of their status economically that's with the poor number
[47:25]two with who with the widows he knew he knew that there
[47:30]were certain soldiers of his who had lost their lives that jamal
[47:34]and safiyan and if the soldiers lost his life then what's he
[47:37]left behind left behind a widow so when he's left a widow
[47:43]behind that widow is obviously gonna have to fend for herself that
[47:47]poor lady true that poor lady has to fend for herself who's
[47:49]going to look after her she obviously is frustrated and remember some
[47:53]of these ladies whose husbands were soldiers with ali some of them
[47:57]have never met amir al-mu'mini remember the islamic state you could go
[48:01]mecca medina basra kufa not everybody can travel from one place to
[48:04]another some of these widows only have heard imam ali they've heard
[48:10]him by name never met him but they've lost their husband now
[48:15]they're widows kids kids are orphans food has to be cooked who's
[48:21]gonna cook the food one of these widows lived with her eldest
[48:25]daughter and a couple of the kids they had lost their husband
[48:29]if i'm not mistaken at naharawan she used to curse imam ali
[48:35]alayhi sanam blatantly she said cursed beyond him he took my husband
[48:43]one day maula heard how did he hear he was going past
[48:48]the house of this lady he would ask because you know he'd
[48:52]love to sit with the people in the markets he'd sit with
[48:54]them the poor the rich it doesn't matter he'd sit with the
[48:57]poor on the ridge sit with the orphans he said to her
[49:00]how are you she goes i'm not very well i said what
[49:04]you're doing she goes oh i just stir this hot water said
[49:08]why did you just keep stirring and said i've got orphan kids
[49:13]and because of our poverty we don't have much to eat i
[49:21]lost my husband may god curse for allah may god curse ali
[49:27]she said because he's the man who made me lose my husband
[49:33]he looked at her and he said to her no problem it's
[49:38]okay is there any way that i could possibly help you she
[49:42]said there's not much that you can do to say the truth
[49:46]i don't have anything i'm a widow my eldest daughter there's no
[49:49]one else here he said let's do this i'm gonna come tomorrow
[49:53]i'm gonna bring some dough some you know flour and so on
[49:55]we make it into bread and we feed the kids she says
[50:00]very kind of you don't have to in all honesty you really
[50:03]don't have to i can do it i said no no i
[50:06]insist i'm gonna come tomorrow next day he came gets everything together
[50:10]bread for the kids finishes leaves the next day he comes collects
[50:15]bread hi yeah for the kids and leaves she's saying what curse
[50:18]on she doesn't know who he is one day as he was
[50:24]leaving her daughter was coming home her daughter looks like oh my
[50:29]god her daughter had met imam before i'd seen imam she came
[50:33]to her mom you see who just left our house she's like
[50:36]i don't know a nice man really nice man i haven't got
[50:39]a clue who he is she said mom the commander the khalifa
[50:50]said yes i said oh my god said mom what's wrong said
[50:54]i've been cursing him every day in front of him the man
[50:57]not once has said anything he's been coming home to help the
[51:02]lady ran out with her daughter she came maula please forgive me
[51:06]i didn't know it was and you know what he said i
[51:07]said you forgive me if anything that i did hurt you in
[51:13]your life maybe you feel that what happened with your husband was
[51:16]because forgive me that was not our intention our intention was that
[51:19]we were fighting against this group of rebels these radicals who are
[51:25]trying to cause trouble i never intended once for me to have
[51:28]a day where you had children who were orphans and you were
[51:33]a widow look at his concern the bible said that god wants
[51:36]to care for who care for the widows the quran said that
[51:41]get your sadaqa together these two groups never forget them if you
[51:49]see in your society there are orphans go to the orphanage don't
[51:54]just donate i know it's easy by the click of a button
[51:55]a person can come towards an app and they're able at this
[52:00]moment to be what to be clicking but try your hardest when
[52:03]can i for example go to iraq i could go towards kerbela
[52:08]i could go and sit there i could see the orphans i'm
[52:10]able to go and sit with that yeti and i can stroke
[52:14]the head of that team one thing mawlana would always do which
[52:16]rasulullah is that they stroke the head of their team as well
[52:25]they'd make sure that the head of that orphan was stroked why
[52:28]because the prophet himself said for every light for every hair that
[52:33]you touch of an orphan is light for you on the day
[52:37]of judgment you found therefore imam ali when it came to the
[52:39]he looked after the he looked after and the orphans of kofa
[52:44]he would make sure that there wasn't a team or a team
[52:48]in kufa but that they were all looked after one by one
[52:51]he'd go to each of their houses he'd sit with each one
[52:56]of them he'd sit with their families and when would he do
[52:59]it he wouldn't just do it for example on odd nights every
[53:04]night in the holy month of ramadan imagine every night in the
[53:09]holy month of ramadan i want to rest 2 a.m 3 a.m
[53:13]4 00 am i'd want to rest imam would make sure that
[53:18]in the middle of the night while kufa would be asleep the
[53:20]imam himself would go out in the middle of the night he'd
[53:24]have a bag a very heavy bag he'd carry it on his
[53:29]back and he'd go to each place he'd sometimes see people on
[53:31]the streets he'd sit with them if they were a christian he'd
[53:35]sit with the christian if they were muslim he'd sit with the
[53:38]muslim if the person couldn't see if the person was blind imam
[53:41]amir al-mu'min would sit with the person who's blind many of us
[53:44]may neglect someone who's blind and poor and a beggar on the
[53:49]street maula would sit would he ever say that never never if
[53:53]that blind person would ask who are you he'd say that i
[53:58]am just a servant of the servants of allah and he would
[54:04]say i'm just one of the poor i am one of the
[54:07]normal people the person would ask his name would not give his
[54:08]name he'd return home he'd return home every night he'd return until
[54:13]ebit mull jump struck him that faithful night because on that fateful
[54:17]night on the 19th when ibn woljam struck him there was a
