[7:05]about a man who lived 14 centuries ago in this day and

[7:09]age what can we learn from a personality who lived 14 centuries

[7:17]ago - even if we learn something from this personality for 14

[7:22]centuries ago how can we derive any implications in this day and

[7:27]age in the 21st century for example you people here living in

[7:34]this part of the world in the 21st century a question might

[7:39]arise if we did not know about Aliona be a pile of

[7:45]alehissalaam if i really had no idea who he was what was

[7:47]his life like how will that impact my life how will it

[7:53]change my life what difference would it make to me and what

[7:56]difference would it make to our environment I think these are very

[7:59]serious questions they're very important questions and inshallah gives us tell vehicle

[8:06]these are the kind of questions we would like to address very

[8:08]briefly of course over the next three nights tonight we will shala

[8:14]discuss very briefly about the life of this great personality and we'll

[8:30]bit more about some of the important lessons that we can learn

[8:34]from him that we can implement in this day and age and

[9:01]Quran either directly or indirectly that one thing which suggests how important

[9:09]this personality is a personality that is referenced or made reference to

[9:15]several hundred times in the Quran already suggests how important this personality

[9:19]is and all those references are positive references there are always where

[9:34]instances is found in surah at-taubah which is chapter number nine in

[9:38]the holy quran and the verse that I was discussing I'll be

[9:42]discussing insha'Allah as verse number 19 the Prophet peace be upon him

[9:55]uncle of the Prophet al-abbas had a unique position before Islam when

[10:14]which was revered even before Islam the Kaaba people used to come

[10:19]to pilgrim around the Kaba to do pilgrimage around the Kaaba and

[10:23]to walk between the mountains of Safa and Marwah there are two

[10:30]these traditions which they learned from prophet Morel and his father Prophet

[10:36]Ibrahim alayhi wassalam these traditions were passed on from generation to generation

[10:42]so they had some reverence and most of you here might be

[10:49]familiar with the famous story of the elephant when the King you

[10:54]know Abraha tried to come and demolish the Kaaba because of its

[10:58]reverence people were going to the Kaaba to do this and this

[11:00]is prior to the prophets even birth so this king Abraha was

[11:14]decided to go and demolish the Kaaba at the time the prophet's

[11:20]grandfather Abdul Muttalib was the head of the Quraysh and the tribe

[13:59]this incident even added more to the reverence of Croatia and the

[14:04]holy Kaba because people at this point realized they cannot mess with

[14:09]the parish and don't mess with the Kaaba because God will protect

[14:13]it so that even added to the significance but you see this

[14:18]is the ancestry of the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa ala this

[14:22]is the ancestry of imam ali of nabi of allah they came

[14:26]from this family a noble family so this cabin this house of

[14:39]visit this cabin on a regular basis al abbas had a position

[14:42]where he used to serve water to those people who would come

[14:47]to the cabin remember we're talking about a desert so people would

[14:50]be crossing desert until they reach Mecca so he comes thirsty they

[14:59]come tired Allah bus had the pride and the honor of serving

[15:04]those pilgrims with water there was another man by the name of

[15:09]Sheba Sheba had the keys to the Kaaba you know that Kaaba

[15:16]has a gate Sheba had the keys to the gate so one

[15:22]day a bus was talking to Sheba and this was after Islam

[15:26]and after the loss of Hanna wata'ala said our prophet and now

[15:33]matka came under the control of Muslims as I mentioned a couple

[15:36]of nights ago in one of the incidents so after this one

[15:41]day al abbas and Sheba are sitting down to discuss now they

[15:44]are discussing and kind of showing off a bus says I am

[15:50]the best because I had the honor of serving water to the

[18:21]time neither one of you was even a Muslim you guys not

[18:25]even do it for the pleasure of God you did it for

[18:29]your own honor for your own sake for your own integrity and

[18:31]a pass became upset he's the prophets uncle and he's the uncle

[18:39]of your mom Ali alehissalaam so he goes up to the prophet

[21:49]is pleased with imam ali IBN ABI talib alehissalaam and they will

[21:54]have gardens in which they will be living in it for eternity

[22:03]Allah subhana WA Ta'ala and this verse says of these few verses

[22:07]that Imam Ali ibn ABI Talib alehissalaam is full of Eman full

[22:11]of faith and he has this faith purely for the sake of

[22:18]Allah and the pleasure of Allah Subhanahu WA Ta'ala last night I

[22:22]was asked by some youth that what is really our purpose in

[22:30]life what are we supposed to do in this world I told

[22:37]them I said to them our purpose in life is to please

[22:39]God to please Allah that's our purpose in life and they gave

[22:47]the following example and I want you people to please pay attention

[22:51]to this I said to people when your parents take care of

[22:54]you your parents raised you your parents invest all this time for

[23:03]you what do you expect a good kind child to do to

[23:11]his parents when he or she grows up what do you think

[23:14]he should do or she should do take care of them what

[23:24]else I'm sorry don't shun them away correct please them sure try

[23:31]to maybe attain their happiness would that be fine now the question

[23:39]is why why would you want to take care so much of

[23:41]your parents make sure they're pleased don't shun them away please them

[23:45]etc it's why what have they done to you sorry everything Oh

[23:53]they've done everything they were the reason God made them the reason

[23:59]who brought you into this world they're the reason that took care

[24:04]of you when you were helpless when you're hopeless correct they raised

[24:12]you they fed you they sheltered you they provided you with everything

[24:18]is that right now that is why sometimes when you feel like

[24:22]this towards your parents who raised you who helped you then how

[24:30]about Allah the one who created you doesn't he deserve that you

[24:34]please him and there's a difference as well your parents maybe one

[24:38]day when they grow older they might need you your parents might

[24:44]need you when they grow older but does God even need you

[24:48]he doesn't even need you oh no Allahu Ahad Allah whole summit

[24:55]say he is the one God he is the needless he does

[24:57]not need anybody so God gives you because he loves you and

[25:02]he does not expect anything back from you because he does not

[25:09]need anything from you what he wants of you is your own

[25:13]happiness your own joy again sometimes parents come to their child the

[25:18]parents might have a very successful career both of them you know

[25:23]they could be physicians engineers business people and so on so forth

[25:27]but they'll come to you my child please take care of your

[25:29]school study hard get a good degree do well in life it's

[25:37]not for them they're already established they already have successful careers whether

[25:43]you study hard or you don't they don't really care in the

[25:46]sense that it's not going to impact their lives they already have

[25:49]successful careers but why are they so concerned why do you think

[25:58]it's for your own sake you will benefit you will gain so

[26:02]they are going to come to you and say my son my

[26:07]daughter study hard because this is good for your life my life

[26:10]at hamdulillah is successful it's not going to impact me I'm a

[26:16]successful physician businessperson engineer che whatever it is so it does not

[26:21]gonna impact me but it's really gonna impact you well just as

[26:25]an analogy Allah subhana WA Ta'ala when he tells us people pray

[26:29]fast wear your hijab do not listen to her on the music

[26:37]do not watch things which are Haram be kind to your parents

[26:39]be kind to people be respectful be a virtuous person it's for

[26:44]your own good Allah doesn't need it it doesn't need it but

[26:49]he cares about you so when we show so much appreciation to

[26:57]our parents which is what any good child would do towards their

[27:02]parents taking care of them we need to show not any less

[27:06]appreciation to Allah Subhanahu WA Ta'ala for creating us for bringing us

[27:12]into existence that's important my dear brothers and my dear sisters so

[27:20]our goal in life is to please allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala and you

[27:26]know a great satisfaction will have is inshallah when we all go

[27:31]to Jenna we will be happy that we entered into Jannah but

[27:36]you know something even better something that will make us even happier

[27:40]you think that people say ok Jannah is going to be my

[27:42]goal my goal is to go to Jannah that's not your goal

[27:46]that's your means your means for what is there anything else besides

[27:50]Jenna yes there is jenna is the means where you achieve the

[29:13]has achieved the pinnacle of success in this materialistic world in this

[29:24]life and the spiritual world some people say that we grow up

[29:30]in an environment which is not Islamic we grow up in an

[29:34]environment that does not support our religion well my response to them

[29:44]is Imam Ali o be a pile of alehissalaam also grew up

[29:46]in an environment that was not religious you grew up in an

[29:49]environment that did not support his religion in fact he grew up

[29:55]in an environment that was completely corrupt people used to drink they

[29:59]had no values no respect it was just a matter of money

[30:05]money talks tribes the bigger tribe is the better tribe women had

[30:11]no value they had no say they were fact sold and bought

[30:16]like goods that's the kind of society he grew up in yet

[30:23]look at his salat look at his fast look at the way

[30:25]he dressed look at the way he spoke look at the way

[30:31]he addressed his parents that is an example for us why do

[30:34]we need to learn about Imam Ali Abdullah Viet olive alayhis-salam in

[30:40]this 21st century well one of the reasons is because he is

[30:46]a man who achieved ultimate success in this world he achieved the

[30:53]purpose of the creation and that is the pleasure of Allah that's

[31:00]why I want to follow him in doing so I'm gonna have

[31:03]a better life a more comfortable life just like he had a

[31:07]comfortable life comfortable does not mean trouble-free does not mean problem free

[31:14]he experienced a lot of problems since he was a child he

[31:21]was attacked he was hurt a few years later after the death

[31:24]of a soul Allah Allah Allah while his own wife was attacked

[31:30]she was killed his own baby was killed so he lived a

[31:32]very difficult life however he was always at peace he was always

[31:41]at peace and that is something which is priceless in this day

[31:44]and age we have a lot of people who are struggling with

[31:51]finding inner peace struggling with finding that calmness they live a stressful

[31:58]life and in some cases it goes to extreme measures where they

[32:02]may need some medical attention mental health problems where they require some

[32:07]attention and that's a serious issue which is concerning the Western world

[32:14]today just recently there was an article about one of the major

[32:18]cities in Canada called Toronto Toronto they say University students in Toronto

[32:24]they are experiencing high episodes of mental health problems to the point

[32:30]where some universities are having to invest millions of dollars on recruiting

[32:35]psychologists recruiting people who can deal with this issue became an epidemic

[32:41]I'm a Leo can I be a polyp Salama Holly despite all

[32:50]these problems yet still was at peace how did he achieve it

[32:54]well because he had connection with Allah I'm not saying that every

[32:58]mental health problem can be solved with your connection to Allah like

[36:00]masjid el Kufa while he was in the state of salute he

[36:08]was born inside the Kaaba and died at the hob a great
