[5:29]in this tradition that the holy prophet peace be upon him and

[5:31]his family tells imam ali alayhi islam about this the holy prophet

[5:41]what had come before him of the lives of the prophets of

[5:47]allah or what had come after him of the likes of those

[5:49]who were to be the saints on the earth sometimes the prophet

[6:00]about what would happen for example in the future hence you find

[6:06]the prophet peace be upon him on his family would always be

[6:11]comparing imam salam with prophets many of us know that no companion

[6:23]you look at the companions of the prophet you'll be hard fetched

[6:27]to find a companion who was worthy of being compared to the

[6:32]holy prophet peace be upon him and his family like imam ali

[6:38]or compared to the prophets who had come before him the prophet

[6:42]himself peace be upon him and his family says that ali is

[6:46]to me like harun was to musa ali is to me like

[6:53]aaron was true moses when we see this therefore we find that

[6:56]the holy prophet peace be upon him and his family had made

[7:02]clear that imam ali alayhim but in this tradition the prophet highlights

[7:19]that imam ali alaihissalam was comparable to who was comparable to nabi

[7:26]islam the prophet saying and this can be seen by the way

[7:29]in non-shia traditions in the muslin of ahmed bin hambel for example

[7:34]you'll see this tradition oh ali you are in similarity to who

[7:40]you are in similarity to jesus son of mary how the jews

[7:48]despised jesus so much until they begun to accuse his mother and

[7:55]slander his mother and the christians loved jesus so much until they

[8:01]began to attribute to him that which was not rightfully his when

[8:07]the holy prophet therefore says this the holy prophet is making it

[8:11]clear that there's a similarity that exists with who with imam ali

[8:16]alayhi that something has been done in relation to what the jews

[8:20]and the christians done to issa the muslims would have done the

[8:28]same to imam ali alaihissalam you therefore found that this relationship can

[8:33]be found in the biography of imam ali and the biography of

[8:37]nabi because in our series on nabi isa we said that the

[8:40]greatest blasphemy on nabi is him being called god or the son

[8:47]of god as the quran mentions in surah 5 verse 72 jesus

[9:02]son of mary the greatest act of disbelief is for someone to

[9:10]say that jesus is god but ironically we find in our history

[9:13]that the same thing happened with amir al-m exactly the same as

[9:19]what happened to nabi isa alaihissalam let us tonight examine how this

[9:25]tradition which relates to nabi islam applied to imam ali at the

[9:29]same time and i'd like to do this in the following stages

[9:31]number one the tradition says the jews despised jesus until they slandered

[9:40]his mum who of imam ali's parents who faced this as well

[9:44]in relation to what the jews shown with jesus's mother number two

[9:50]if the quran talks about god and talks about god in the

[9:54]sense of the plural when the quran mentions god and the word

[9:56]we then why can we not say that god is the father

[10:00]and god is the son and that jesus could possibly be god

[10:04]number three when christians say jesus is god which chapters of the

[10:09]bible do they use to prove that jesus himself said that he

[10:13]was god number four how do we look at other chapters in

[10:18]the bible where jesus makes it clear that you worship israel the

[10:23]lord the one god and he separates himself from the lord the

[10:29]god in our history as shia did we have people who worshipped

[10:32]imam ali as god in the way the christians worship jesus as

[10:38]god and what do we make of these groups number six what

[10:41]of the traditions that say attribute to us everything except divinity are

[10:48]these traditions to be accepted or can we as shia also fall

[11:01]does that say about the position of imam ali as well and

[11:06]how do such traditions prove that imam ali alayhi salam was clearly

[11:11]someone not immortal but not god but somewhere high in the middle

[11:17]and finally how does one act of neber and one act of

[11:22]imam ali prove that they both are not god and how is

[11:27]this one act in the eyes of the human the lowest on

[11:31]the earth but in the eyes of allah for storage let's examine

[11:36]this and dissect the topic in complete depth when we come towards

[11:41]the tradition the tradition says oh ali there's a similarity in you

[11:46]with jesus what's the similarity the first thing is that the jews

[11:51]despised you until they slandered your mother you find that the jews

[11:58]are in contrast to the muslims when it comes to maryam for

[12:02]us maryam is a methyl is an ayah it is an example

[12:22]tell the angels or angels you tell mary that we have chosen

[12:28]her purified her and chosen her we as muslims we recognize maryam

[12:32]as chosen and purified but sadly how many muslims today are respected

[12:38]by christians and how many of the jewish community are respected by

[12:43]christians many of the jewish community are respected by the christian community

[12:48]and many of the christian community do not necessarily respect the muslims

[12:52]although we admire maryam and the jewish community slanders maryam the jewish

[12:57]community reached the conclusion in different works of theirs that maryam alaihissalam

[13:02]how did she have jesus she had him through an act of

[13:07]fornication i mentioned this a few nights ago that they said maryam

[13:10]slept with a roman soldier by the name of pantera and from

[13:17]that relationship that they had with one another they had jesus and

[13:20]that's why for many of the jewish community maryam is not revered

[13:25]forget jesus for the jewish community who no one ever mentions what

[13:29]their opinions are on jesus and mary you don't really see it

[13:31]in public always we the muslims have to defend ourselves by saying

[13:37]that wallah we love we love maryam is mentioned in the quran

[13:42]more than she is mentioned in the bible okay i ask a

[13:43]question the jewish community what's their opinion on maryam do they respect

[13:48]mariam as one of the greatest ladies no in medieval jewish writings

[13:53]and in the ancient talmud you'll see it written that they believe

[13:58]that mariam had fornicated and that she had a child from fornication

[14:54]way the jews had slandered the mother of jesus you found that

[16:52]other uncle many abbas could not take how is it that abu

[16:54]talib in some cases is viewed higher than abbas why is it

[17:00]that people mention abu talib's support for rasulallah came from the same

[17:11]mother and father whereas abbas came from abdullah by a different mother

[17:14]so you know what many abbas began to do they're the ones

[17:19]who began to attack abu talib they're the ones who in the

[17:22]books of tafasir began to push this idea that abu talib on

[17:26]his deathbed the prophet is pleading with him my uncle allah come

[17:30]to the path of god my uncle why don't you believe in

[17:32]god what do you mean my uncle why don't you believe in

[17:35]god your uncle was the very backbone of the religion of islam

[17:38]the year that your uncle died o prophet of god the year

[17:43]was called ahmed hosn it was the year of grief because the

[17:46]backbones of the religion of islam were what the backbones of the

[17:50]religion of islam as we all know were who were they were

[17:58]the backbones of the religion that she above that valley three years

[18:03]he gave everything to the religion of islam everybody else had forgotten

[19:45]in many of the middle eastern countries you'll find a group of

[19:49]the people still saying nice man but kafir and the child is

[19:54]grown up abu talib is the kafir and the grandchildren grow up

[19:56]abu talib this is a slander against the man who gave everything

[20:01]to the religion of islam therefore rasulallah came from the jewish angle

[20:08]what was it that oh ali the first similarity between you and

[20:15]between jesus son or mary was that the jews despised you there

[20:19]is someone with book of mubarak they hated jesus so much they

[20:26]took it out on his mum likewise with ali because of the

[20:32]book of to abu torab they took it out on who they

[20:34]took it out on his dad they wanted to make sure that

[20:37]generations were raised hating his dad they wanted to make sure that

[20:41]generations were raised calling his dad alhamdulillah in all honesty i'm not

[20:48]going to say by the way all of the non-shia world believe

[20:50]abu talib zakat there are some of the sunni brothers and sisters

[21:09]this idea that abu talib was to be slandered as being someone

[21:13]who burns at the bottom of hell and you know something that

[21:17]surprises me more abu lahab gave away his slave when rasool allah

[21:24]sallallahu alaihi was born gave away a slave because of that the

[21:30]punishment of hell fire is reduced for abu lahab because he gave

[21:34]away a slave abu talib gave away all of that but there's

[21:37]no reduction of the punishment there's no reduction but for the other

[21:42]one there's a reduction let me even add something more to that

[21:44]there are some companions of rasulallah their fathers were the most bitter

[21:50]enemies of the prophet some of them their fathers were the most

[21:54]bitter enemies an example i'll give you an example in the quran

[21:59]many of you read the ayah about the son of zinna you've

[22:05]read the ayah this ayah is about the one who was a

[22:08]cursed son of adultery who fights the prophet the ayah was revealed

[22:14]in honor of who in honor of waleed no in dishonor in

[22:19]reality that was one of those who used to insult the prophet

[22:24]and fight the prophet answer when it comes to it it says

[22:32]but we won't talk too bad about waleed because his son is

[22:38]khalid so we don't want to hurt khalid's feelings you know because

[22:43]khalid ibn waleed so don't talk too much about waleed because his

[22:48]son is khalid son did nothing for islam no problem we cannot

[22:55]say we have to be careful we have to make sure that

[23:00]khalid's feelings are not hurt someone will say but say these are

[23:03]sensitive issues it's not about sensitivity there can't be a rule for

[23:08]khalid foreign and sometimes i'll tell you you know sometimes in life

[24:07]one thing then recognize that there are those who have come before

[24:11]you so the hadith begun by saying what it's begun from the

[24:15]jewish angle most of the time when we compare imam ali and

[24:17]nabi we start from the christian angle but the hadith begun from

[24:22]the jewish angle the hadith said oh ali that you are similar

[24:27]to jesus the jews despised jesus until they slandered his mom that

[24:33]we've understood and then he says and the christians loved him so

[24:39]much until they attributed to him that which was not appropriate what

[24:45]is it that they attributed to him they attributed to him that

[24:48]he was god yes if you go to the christian world you'll

[24:54]see the christian world until today calls nebrasa lord jesus isn't this

[24:59]true wherever we go we'll hear christians even if a christian says

[25:04]to me that no no no i don't mean i mean son

[25:05]of reality is when you say lord jesus you are saying that

[25:11]jesus is god of course one christian came to me one day

[25:14]and said to me but you also believe that god is more

[25:18]than one i said we muslims believe god is one ultimately so

[25:24]hate for us is fundamental he said no no you muslims you

[25:26]say for example god when he says he revealed the quran we

[25:32]are the ones who sent down the quran he doesn't say he

[25:41]says the person says in the quran it says verily we are

[25:53]the ones who set down the quran so you muslims also don't

[26:00]believe in one god we reply no no that we is what's

[27:37]is the clearest proof that jesus is god if he's saying i

[27:39]and the father are one so it must mean that we have

[27:45]to believe that he is god then they'll use another verse of

[27:49]the bible mark 2 where jesus says i'll pardon your sins yes

[27:54]he will pardon sins who is normally god what jesus says i

[28:01]am the one who will pardon your sins then further than that

[28:07]you'll see other sections within the bible where jesus will talk about

[28:11]for example john 5 18 where they virtually equate him being the

[28:15]son of god with being god so if i had the bible

[28:20]and i see john 10 30 and says i and the father

[28:26]are one and i see mark two jesus says i'll pardon the

[28:31]sins and i see john 5 18 and there's an equation that

[28:33]the son of god must be god then can you blame a

[28:38]christian if he believes god is jesus and jesus is god you

[28:44]can't because it's there within the bible even though these lines that

[28:46]are used i as a muslim can still believe in them what

[28:54]do i mean john 10 30 i and the father are one

[28:56]wallah it's true i believe it the message of isa and the

[29:00]message of god is one and that is so heid whether you

[29:05]want to say iloh or ilah or al-ilah or allah whether it's

[29:13]there from the old testament or the way the jews pronounce it

[29:16]or the ways the muslim pronounce it ultimately it's all one direction

[29:25]problem with that in fact because i believe that nabi islam's message

[29:29]is the message of sure to heed the oneness of god i

[29:50]that here when the christian says to me john 10 30 proves

[29:55]that jesus is god i reply by saying no to me it

[30:01]proves that he and the father are in one direction one message

[30:03]one ideology then says well how about mark 2 mark 2 jesus

[30:09]pardons our sins i believe that also those who used to come

[30:13]to rasulullah they could have their sins pardoned by rasool allah on

[30:21]behalf of allah which says had they when they had been unjust

[30:44]to themselves had they come to you o muhammad and asked for

[30:49]forgiveness allah would have forgiven them on your behalf jesus pardoned sins

[31:28]jesus allah makes it clear father the eternal and to know that

[31:34]he has sent me yes ultimately what's the aim of life to

[31:36]know the eternal father to understand this world and to understand and

[31:43]follow the one who he has sent which is me i will

[31:47]come to nabi isa alaihissalam and i will say to nabi isa

[31:49]very clearly i will say to him o prophet of god if

[31:53]i was and he's with us for us as muslims is alive

[31:59]so until today can i use him as an intermediary forgive me

[32:17]therefore those verses that you give me where you say to me

[32:21]i and the father are one yes and god are one they

[32:24]are on the same message the same sir you come and tell

[32:28]me nabi isa is the one who pardons sins i believe until

[32:32]today is alive and until today if you approach him ask him

[34:34]with he begins by talking about what by talking about that don't

[34:38]call me the one who's good yes why do you say good

[34:39]teacher none is good except who god if you are god why

[34:48]are you making a distinction or when someone comes to ask him

[34:51]someone comes and asks jesus alaihissalam what does he say to him

[34:56]he says to jesus what is the most important of the ten

[34:59]commandments that came with moses what is the most important one stealing

[35:06]committing adults which one is the most important one that we have

[35:09]to stay away from oh israel your lord god yes oh israel

[35:14]it is for you to know your lord god god is one

[35:19]he is making it clear here that that is the commandment doesn't

[35:23]say i am god i am your lord no it is for

[35:27]you to know your lord to worship your lord to follow the

[35:32]commands of your lord therefore in the bible when i'm looking within

[35:35]the bible what am i seeing i'm seeing within the bible that

[35:37]if i go towards mark or if i go towards those who

[35:41]are asking him he's the one who's saying that you know what

[35:44]your lord god that is the direction you go to you call

[35:48]me the good teacher don't call me the good teacher don't call

[35:51]me good no one's good except allah meaning no one's achieved that

[35:55]level of perfection except allah subhanahu wa no one's independent in their

[36:02]perfection because someone might say all these prophets are infallible yes but

[36:09]that comes as a grace from allah subhanahu wa ta'ala the perfection

[36:13]ultimately is from who the perfection ultimately is from allah therefore when

[36:18]my christian friends come and tell me that jesus is god i

[36:22]turn around say listen the commandments are making it clear israel your

[36:26]lord one god that is who you follow that's always been the

[36:32]way deuteronomy 6 4 is echoed with what this line says when

[36:36]the person asks about god and understanding that he would ever say

[36:45]that he is god he makes it clear never ever would he

[36:49]say god the christians out of their love they went too far

[36:51]what did they say out of their love they said that jesus

[36:55]is god did the muslims do the same about imam salam yes

[37:35]hajj or umrah you meet someone from bangladesh or you meet someone

[37:40]from indonesia true indonesia is the country with the most muslims in

[37:46]the world indonesia has over 200 million muslims more than any other

[37:50]country in the world a person goes there imagine one of these

[37:53]indonesians asked what is a shia shia worship ali you generalized 300

[38:00]million people in one statement shia worship no we do not worship

[38:06]ali there is no way that we worship ali did we have

[38:10]some who took imam ali out of their love to worship yes

[38:49]this proves ali is god let me give you an example how

[43:53]says imam ali alayhi salam is god is njis because there are

[43:56]categories of najas of the categories of the impure the imams mentioned

[46:05]allah we've compartmentalized and i'll give you the best example there are

[46:09]some there are some they come to majalis and muharram they're wearing

[46:13]hijab for abba abdullah hijab comes on ten nights for imam amir

[46:22]meaning three nights hijab comes on when they come to the mosque

[46:25]but the rest of the year it is not muharram or safar

[46:31]or ramadan i'm not putting such people down i'm just showing you

[46:36]just be careful you don't begin to place ali and hussain above

[46:40]allah to become servants of allah worshipers of allah therefore the christians

[46:55]reached to a level where they called jesus god the muslims reached

[47:00]to a level where they called ali god what was the proof

[49:54]pray properly you can reach the highest levels where the veils between

[52:26]ramadan a night that breaks the heart of every believer every single

[52:30]one of you out there i know i don't even need to

[52:32]go into a muslim if in his rook he achieved such greatness

[52:37]then you find without a doubt in his the greatness that he

[52:42]achieved on this night he loved his to highlight that none is

[52:50]worthy of being worshipped but allah subhanahu wa and that's why we

[52:55]find on a night like this it's a difficult night for zainab

[55:29]he said i can see zayn about the door and i don't

[55:43]she came out of the house she was wondering what happened to

[55:50]her father she looked for the distance as she could see her

[55:53]father being carried by hassan and hussain and then the poets described

[56:00]her with her words it kills me it kills me one light

[56:06]kills me to see my father in pain listen to these lines

[56:10]the poet describes it wonderfully it kills me it kills me it

[56:21]lost your father this is for you remember your father when he

[58:25]the day that we die might is with nevada for you daily

[58:40]for you i would cry your tragedy [Music] no matter how distant

[59:07]we are in my heart i built a shrine so that our

[59:29]souls [Music] [Music] [Music] for three days your world was open until

[60:24]you with me it's your lord destroyed [Music] until the day we

[60:57]die just like candles and the nights we flame from your divine

[61:13]lights just like candles and the night we flame until the day

[61:40]that we die until the day that we die loving you they

[61:56]call me crazy and then your love i'm not shy even though

[62:12]it means i'll be killed i will hold my head up high

[62:24]i will hold my head up high no matter how much they

[62:36]kill us when we die we are alive [Music] strife i would

[63:16]cry [Applause] for all our loved ones that we lost who now

[63:29]flourish from [Music] healing embrace and [Music] heal embrace and why power

[64:01]tears [Applause] [Music] [Applause] until [Applause] [Music] hey [Music] [Music] i am

[65:29]to the epitome of love when we rejoice when times are hard

[65:35]whatever stage of life we are in we all learn to be

[65:40]in one special place we all wish to visit the blessed shrine

[65:48]of imam al-hussein in the holy city of karbala [Music] not all

[65:57]of us have the blessing to visit the shrine of imam hussein

[66:01]but there is still a way to experience the sights and sound

[66:06]of the blessed land of karbala in the comfort of your own
