[1:46]Hey, in the name of God the most beneficent, the most merciful.
[2:14]All praise is due to the Lord, master of all the worlds.
[2:19]And peace and blessings be on all his prophets and especially the
[2:24]final prophet, the prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi.
[2:26]My respected brothers and sisters, who is the imam of your time?
[2:39]Who was the imam in the time of Fat?
[2:41]who was the imam in the time of after the holy prophet
[2:46]peace be upon him and his family had passed away.
[2:50]One of the most contentious issues affecting the Muslim um from that
[2:55]time until today is obedience or disobedience to the imam of their
[3:00]time to the amir of their time to the khalifa of their
[3:06]time.
[3:07]Do they pledge allegiance to anyone?
[3:10]Do they agree with anyone who's elected?
[3:13]Do they have to accept anyone who's elected?
[3:18]Or are they allowed to disapprove?
[3:21]Are they allowed to disagree?
[3:21]If, for example, a Khalifa was appointed from the Umayids or from
[3:27]the Abbasids, are you meant to obey them irrespective of how irreligious
[3:31]they are?
[3:32]What if they're a drunkard?
[3:34]What if they're corrupt?
[3:34]What if they're someone who's oppressive?
[3:37]Am I meant to obey him because he's ruling me?
[3:42]Or am I allowed to withdraw this piece of obedience or this
[3:46]moment of a pledge of allegiance?
[3:48]If I do, then do I die the death of somebody who
[3:55]is a jahil or somebody who is acting like those in the
[4:02]state of Jah.
[4:01]We know that period of jahalyah is a period that can be
[4:06]summarized with two words and misguidance deviated astray or polytheism.
[4:17]Many of the traditions concerning knowing the Imam of one's time and
[4:21]obeying the Imam of one's time and pledging allegiance to the Imam
[4:27]of one's time without a doubt are affecting the Muslims today as
[4:34]they affected the Sahabah at that time.
[4:35]Because we know very well that there were disagreements as we've seen
[4:40]in the last few episodes between the Sahaba even in relation to
[4:45]who they believed should be the califf.
[4:48]Not all Sahabah necessarily agreed as we saw on the appointment for
[4:52]example of man or on the appointment of Muawia or on the
[4:57]appointment of Yazid.
[4:59]But now what's the responsibility of a person living in that time?
[5:03]Are they meant to obey that ruler irrespective of whatever the behaviors
[5:06]were of that ruler or are they allowed to raise an objection?
[5:12]Until today, this affects the Gulf, affects the Middle East, affects the
[5:16]Islamic world.
[5:15]Because sometimes a person may live in these countries and may see
[5:21]a ruler who's a tyrant, a ruler who's oppressive, a ruler who
[5:25]has gone away from the path of Islamic law.
[5:28]And then you ask yourself the question, do I look at this
[5:31]ruler and do I remain silent about this ruler or not?
[5:35]Am I allowed to rise against this ruler or not?
[5:39]Some Muslims will tell you, you must obey the ruler irrespective of
[5:42]whether they are a farid, whether they are a fire, whether they
[5:46]are unjust, whether they are transgressors, whether they are oppressors.
[5:51]Other Muslims will say to you, "No, how could you remain silent
[5:55]when you see any form of oppression?" We know very well that
[6:02]the leader of society, any society is fundamental to the growth of
[6:06]that society, to the guidance of that society.
[6:09]And we know very well that Islamically our Lord continued to send
[6:15]us leader after leader to guide our community.
[6:16]Those leaders were known of course as prophets and of course as
[6:22]messengers in the Quran.
[6:23]Sometimes they are called enia and sometimes they are called and sometimes
[6:28]they are given the title of imam cuz sometimes people do always
[6:34]ask the question why do you guys believe in im.
[6:35]We see imams throughout the Quran.
[6:37]The idea of a leader is not just that he's called an
[6:41]ebi in the Quran.
[6:42]Sometimes he's called a rasool.
[6:43]Sometimes he's called an imam.
[6:47]And imams can of course guide you in two ways.
[6:53]You may have the of and kufur and you may have the
[6:55]of haya towards the path of god.
[6:58]If you look in the Quran, join me in the Quran over
[7:00]here.
[7:00]If you go to surah 32 of the holy Quran, you'll see
[7:06]my dear brothers and sisters in surah 32 of the Quran surah
[7:09]saga.
[7:10]Everybody come with me over here.
[7:11]Let's go to surah 32 verse number 24 in surah 32man all
[7:19]of you can see over here we see very clearly that the
[7:32]Quran says we appointed leaders from amongst them guiding people by our
[7:37]command when they were steadfast in their dean.
[7:40]Now what we have over here, you may have a leader who
[7:43]guides you on behalf of God.
[7:48]That's one you have to obey unconditionally.
[7:49]Anyone who is chosen by God, you must obey unconditionally.
[7:54]And them reaching a rank of imam of their people, a person
[8:02]cannot disobey.
[8:04]A person can't even raise an objection to the one who has
[8:08]been appointed by God.
[8:08]When God appoints this person for us, we cannot stand up and
[8:13]say, "You are unjust.
[8:13]I don't trust you.
[8:16]Are you sure you're a prophet?
[8:17]You are delirious." You cannot do any of that to one who
[8:21]was appointed by God.
[8:21]Why?
[8:22]Because they are the ones being guided by God.
[8:26]Therefore, we have to obey them unconditionally.
[8:28]We have to pledge our allegiance to them from the first of
[8:31]them until the last of them.
[8:32]I must pledge my allegiance to them unconditionally.
[8:34]And we know very well that the Quran says you may have
[8:37]imams who are guiding you towards good.
[8:39]But you may also have this other conundrum where the Quran tells
[8:46]you that there are imams am leadershifas who might guide you astray.
[8:52]If you look again in the Quran in surah 28 of the
[8:54]holy Quran go to about verse 41 of surah 28 you'll see
[9:02]here what does the Quran say over here it says we made
[9:11]them leaders in this world summoning to the fire by their shik
[9:15]there are leaders who I see in my life from the beginning
[9:21]of Islam until the end.
[9:21]Some of those leaders are leaders who are taking me towards heaven.
[9:27]Others might be leaders who take me towards hell.
[9:29]Now then I have another conundrum.
[9:32]Can I obey a leader even if he's a Muslim publicly saysahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahu
[9:37]rasoolah sallallahu alaihi but if I feel that this leader has been
[9:44]unjust or has usurped someone's right has confiscated someone's property has hurt
[9:50]somebody especially if they are close to the holy prophet peace be
[9:54]upon him's family must I pledge an allegiance to them or no
[9:59]in sunni tradition there is this hadith as we'll see in clip
[10:03]number one which is always famously narrated about the importance of making
[10:10]sure that you have given be to the leader irrespective of who
[10:15]that leader is.
[10:18]Let's play clip number one.
[11:18]Normally in Shia literature we'll hear the im everybody knows that hadith
[11:28]that everybody would have come across that whoever dies without knowing the
[11:33]imam of his time dies the death of aah that's in literature
[11:36]in Sunni literature as the respected sheh just mentioned you have a
[11:42]similar hadith not exactly the same we say and jahalyah.
[11:48]Whoever dies without knowing the imam of their time dies the death
[11:51]of jahalyah.
[11:52]You'll see in Sunni literature there is something somewhat similar that a
[11:58]person must have pledged and have the pledge on their neck to
[12:03]the leader of their time otherwise they fall into a state similar
[12:06]to that of the people of Jahalia.
[12:08]The people of Jahali as I mentioned earlier were either on Dalala
[12:11]or they were on kufur and therefore if a person has a
[12:16]leader in their time they must have pledged their allegiance.
[12:18]So that leader and that pledge of allegiance must be there otherwise
[12:22]they die like they are in a state of jah.
[12:25]The Quran gives you a conundrum which also causes an issue.
[12:28]The Quran says there are leaders who will take you to heaven.
[12:32]Quran says there are leaders who will take you to hell.
[12:33]The Quran also says you got to be careful not to obey
[12:39]one who is unjust or for example one who is astray an
[12:45]evil doer one who's not grateful to Allah subhana wa tala come
[12:48]with me over here in surah 76 of the Quran verse number
[12:54]24 you'll see the verse what does it say okay so the
[13:02]Quran over Here what does it say?
[13:04]It say therefore wait patiently for the judgment of your lord as
[13:09]to how he decides to convey his message.
[13:13]Do not obey any unbelieving evildoer or thankless man amongst them.
[13:20]Okay.
[13:21]A person has to be careful that they do not obey a
[13:24]person who's evil.
[13:26]But someone says well what if is a Muslim Khalifa and he's
[13:29]an evil Muslim Khalifa.
[13:29]This caused a conundrum for the Muslims because the Muslims now had
[13:35]an issue.
[13:37]Be you Sunni, Shia, whichever sect you had.
[13:37]The issue was firstly did the prophet leave behind a leader or
[13:43]not.
[13:44]The Shia said that the prophet announced Ali as the leader.
[13:46]Therefore, it was incumbent upon the Shia to pledge their allegiance to
[13:51]Ali.
[13:51]In the Sunni world, of course, there were many different ways in
[13:55]which the leader was to be chosen.
[13:57]And then it became a conundrum because it becomes subjective.
[13:59]A first leader may be chosen at a second leader may be
[14:05]chosen by the first leader.
[14:06]The third leader may be chosen by six and a fourth leader
[14:11]may be chosen by the whole community.
[14:13]The fifth leader may have been involved in a war that led
[14:16]to the sixth leader Muawia after the abdication of the fifth leader.
[14:19]Now the people had a conundrum.
[14:21]Am I meant to have full obedience to the leader even if
[14:29]I've seen the leader is a or a if the Quran is
[14:35]saying to me very clearly that that do not obey any of
[14:45]them who evil or transgressor.
[14:45]What if I see a Muslim ruler who's blatantly evil and a
[14:51]blatant transgressor?
[14:52]Now when we come to look at that hadith, let's see what
[14:57]that hadith say on this particular area.
[14:58]Let's go to Bkari.
[15:02]All of us over here, there's a whole section which brings the
[15:06]concept of governance and to the Muslim and knowing the imam of
[15:09]one's time and understanding the am of one's time and your responsibility
[15:13]with them.
[15:14]Come with me over here.
[15:17]My dear brothers and sisters, volume 9 a hadith 6561 to 7563
[15:21]translated by Dr.
[15:26]Muhammad Minhan you can all see here dam publishers printed July 1997
[15:32]printing supervised by who by Abd Melik Mujah let's all go to
[15:35]page 162 you've got this whole section as you can see chapter
[15:43]4 to listen to and obey one's imam Muslim ruler as long
[15:51]as his orders involve not one in disobedience to Allah.
[15:58]Okay, this as you can see here.
[16:03]Now the first we have here 7142 narrated and bin Malik Allah's
[16:11]messenger said you should listen to and obey your im even if
[16:16]he was an Ethiopian black slave whose head looks like a raisin.
[16:23]where in look over here it's very important when you must obey
[16:34]your IM you must listen to your im even if it's an
[16:40]Ethiopian you must obey them in everything that they do then the
[16:44]next hadith hadith number 7143 narrated Ib Abbas the prophet sallallahu alaihi
[16:51]wasall said, "If somebody sees his Muslim ruler doing something he disapproves
[16:58]of, he should be patient.
[17:00]For whoever disunite from the Muslim group, they become separate from the
[17:07]Muslim group even for a span and then dies.
[17:10]He will die as those who died in the pre-Islamic period of
[17:14]ignorance." Join me.
[17:16]Let's read the Arabic.
[17:37]Look how clear this is that if you see the Muslim ruler
[17:43]doing something that you disapprove of, believe you me, these hadiths are
[17:47]still applicable to 2026.
[17:49]There are Muslims who live under Muslim rulers and sometimes you wonder
[17:54]he can see that this Muslim ruler is oppressive is a tyrant
[17:57]is a dictator has killed people has imprisoned people and you'll see
[18:01]some of them will refer to Bkari and say that look the
[18:06]prophet sallallahu alaihi wasall said if you come back to it if
[18:09]you see the Muslim ruler doing something he disapproves of he should
[18:16]be patient for whoever disunites from the jama of the Muslims even
[18:20]for a span and then dies he will die as those who
[18:26]died in the period of so you see that very clearly here
[18:33]what do we have we have very clearly that if a person
[18:35]is living at the time of a khalifa that khalifa may do
[18:40]something that you may for example have an issue with that you
[18:44]may disapprove of for example you cannot separate from the jama of
[18:49]the Muslims.
[18:50]Yes, but what if the Khalifa has confiscated my property?
[18:52]What if the Khalifa has usurped my rights?
[18:55]No, YOU CANNOT SPEAK OUT.
[18:58]WHY NOT?
[18:59]Why can I not speak out?
[19:02]No one thing that all of these Bkari and Muslim and other
[19:04]works are written at the time of the you dare to speak
[19:09]out against the Khalifa, your tongue will go, your ears will go,
[19:12]your legs will be chopped and so on and so forth.
[19:17]But also what's interesting is that the person who does separate from
[19:20]a community even if there is something that the ruler disapproves of
[19:24]then they die as if they are a jah.
[19:26]Now a question also arises.
[19:30]So must I give to whoever is the ruler whether I agree
[19:32]with them or not?
[19:35]Come with me to Sah Muslim.
[19:36]My dear brothers and sisters when I come to Sah Muslim volume
[19:41]number five from hadith number 4519 to 5645.
[19:44]All of you can see a hadith edited and referenced by Abu
[19:49]Tah translated by Kam.
[19:54]Final review by Abu Khal first edition August 2007 supervised by Abd
[20:00]Malik Mujah volume number five D Salam publishers over here my dear
[20:05]brothers and sisters if we go to page 184 join me over
[20:09]here it's of course the book of leadership all of you know
[20:12]the book of leadership very well in Sah Muslim over here you'll
[20:18]see my dear brothers and sisters over here the book of leadership
[20:23]of course Come with me over here.
[20:30]4793.
[20:27]It was narrated that said Abdullahb Omar came to who?
[20:36]Came to Abdah when the incident of Al occurred.
[20:42]The incident of Al, as you all know, is when Mu and
[20:48]his soldiers absolutely pillaged Medina and then later Mecca.
[20:56]They pillaged Medina and there was rape of the ladies in Medina
[21:00]and dogs were urinating everywhere and people were butchered.
[21:03]And that's why those who try and say Yazid is not to
[21:09]blame for then just look at Har come back please.
[21:11]Abdullahb Omar came true when the incident of occurred at the time
[21:18]of Yazid bin Muawia and he said set out a pillow for
[21:24]Abu Abdman.
[21:24]Okay.
[21:25]He said I have not come to sit with you.
[21:28]I have come to narrate to you a hadith.
[21:31]I heard the messenger of Allah sall say whoever withdraws his hand
[21:41]from obedience or rebelss against the ruler will meet Allah on the
[21:45]day of resurrection with no justification for his action and whoever dies
[21:51]not having sworn an oath of allegiance has died a death of
[21:54]ignorance let's read the Arabic over here read with me my dear
[22:00]brothers and sisters he comes to him over here.
[22:28]Now, here's the important part.
[22:36]Whoever dies not having sworn an oath of allegiance has died a
[22:44]death of ignorance.
[22:46]Now forget the point about this hadith and the importance of giving
[22:54]to Yazidaw from the great Abdah Omar.
[22:59]Forget that.
[23:03]That means that if a person decides that they are not going
[23:07]to give a to any of the Abu Bakr, Omar, Oman, Ali,
[23:13]Zuber, any of the after Ali, Yazid, all of these if you
[23:21]do not give them your then you die either in a state
[23:27]ofal or kufur.
[23:29]If the rule applies to all of them, this puts us in
[23:33]such a mess in Islamic history.
[23:37]Because if the idea is that I have to know the lead
[23:42]on my time and I must pledge allegiance to the lead on
[23:47]my time and that if I do not then I die the
[23:49]death of Jah as you saw in those a hadith.
[23:54]Then there are a number of notable people in the first 4550
[24:01]years after the prophet died who are on their way to hellfire.
[24:07]And I don't know how many Muslims are willing to say this.
[24:13]Let's look at the first one gave Abu Bakr when he became
[24:22]Khalifa not a chance.
[24:24]No way.
[24:24]If I read, let me get the musmed of Im Ahmed.
[24:28]If you read in the musn of Im Ahmed, you'll see very
[24:33]clearly that Fat Zah died without a on her neck for the
[24:36]first Khalifa and disapproved of the first Khalifa.
[24:40]No.
[24:40]Was angry with the first Khalifa.
[24:42]Do you have the bravery to say that Fat Zah died in
[24:47]a state ofal or in a state of you have that bravery
[24:49]or no?
[24:51]Come with me over here.
[24:54]The Muslim of Ahmed.
[24:53]Hadith number 1 to1380 Muhammad bini volume one translated by Kab edited
[25:03]by Hudabam publishers.
[25:04]All of you can see my dear brothers and sisters 2012 Saudi
[25:13]Arabia.
[25:12]Come with me over here.
[25:16]Let's go to page 41.
[25:16]Look over here.
[25:18]Hadith number 25.
[25:19]Let's zoom in narrated that Aisha the wife of the prophet told
[25:25]him that Fath the daughter of the prophet sallallahu alaihi asked Abu
[25:28]Bakr after the death of the messenger of Allah to give her
[25:32]her share of inheritance from that which the messenger of Allah had
[25:35]left behind of the fate that Allah had bestowed upon him Abu
[25:38]Bak said to her the messenger of Allah said our prophet's property
[25:44]is not to be inherited and whatever we leave behind is charity
[25:49]got angry.
[25:51]She disapproved of the khalifa of her time.
[25:54]My dear brothers and sisters and remember what the hadith said.
[25:57]Whoever disapproves from the jama then they die in a state of
[26:04]jah come back.
[26:03]Fatma got angry and kept away from Abu Bakr and she continued
[26:09]to do so until she died.
[26:12]Fatama lived for 6 months after the messenger of Allah s and
[26:18]she used to ask Abu Bakr 6 months for her share of
[26:23]that which the messenger of Allah had left behind of and his
[26:27]charitable endowments in Medina.
[26:28]But Abu Bakr refused to give her that.
[26:31]He said, "I will not stop doing something that the messenger of
[26:37]Allah he used to do.
[26:41]Rather, I will continue to do it." Now, is there anyone in
[26:48]the Sunni world who's willing to say that Fat Zah died in
[26:51]the state of Jah?
[26:52]Is there anyone?
[26:56]Because Fatan Zahar doesn't pledge allegiance to him.
[26:59]She doesn't see him as the imam of her time, the khalif
[27:02]of her time.
[27:02]Not at all.
[27:03]She completely rejects him.
[27:04]It's quite clear.
[27:06]And as Ahmed Muhammad says, she got angry with him and she
[27:09]kept on asking for her right.
[27:10]Very clearly Fathan Zah rejects him.
[27:12]Does Fathma Z die the death of someone in Jah?
[27:16]Second question is if you're meant to know let's say according to
[27:20]Shia sources of imah say that's in Shia sources who's Fatma's IM
[27:26]does Fatama know the im of her time because in Shia sourc
[27:30]it says whoever dies without knowing the imam of their time dies
[27:33]the death of ignorance if Fatma rejects Abu Bakr she must have
[27:38]an imam of her time otherwise she dies in the state of
[27:41]Jah Fatama's im no doubt is Im Ali and that's something to
[27:47]remember that even though the government got into power, Salman's im and
[27:51]the im of his time of immani mahal salman's im was Ali.
[28:00]Abu Dar's im was Ali.
[28:02]Amar's im was Ali.
[28:01]Makdad's im was Ali.
[28:05]Their im was imam.
[28:07]Now in the Sunni world if you haven't given to the leader
[28:11]of the time then you die in the state of Jah didn't
[28:15]give.
[28:16]Are you willing to say that the mistress of the woman of
[28:18]paradise?
[28:19]You know those four women you always mention as Mariam Khadijah and
[28:22]Fatma.
[28:22]Are you willing to say that she died in a state of
[28:26]jah?
[28:24]Because then it doesn't add up further.
[28:27]Why wouldn't Fat Zah accept Abu Bakr's Khalifa?
[28:30]If Abu Bakr has got all of these attributes, why would Fat
[28:35]Zahar not accept him?
[28:36]For what reason would Fat Zahar not give him allegiance if he
[28:39]is such a great old statesman and such a great political figure
[28:44]and so spiritual and the last man to lead prayers behind her
[28:48]father what's her issue with him if she does have an issue
[28:52]we all know Fatma is a part of me whoever angers her
[28:54]angers me and whoever angers me angers Allah so therefore if this
[28:59]hadith says that Abu Bakr angered Fatma Zah come back to the
[29:02]hadith again the hadith very clearly says Fatma got angry and kept
[29:04]away from Abu Abu Bakr if Zah got angry and kept away
[29:09]from Abu Bakr my dear brothers and sisters then that means that
[29:11]her anger is the same as the anger of the messenger of
[29:16]Allah.
[29:17]Therefore for us if someone says then we say that that person
[29:22]has committed kufur.
[29:22]If someone says must have known the imam of her time it
[29:25]certainly isn't Abu Bakr.
[29:27]Then who is the imam of her time?
[29:29]very clearly for us.
[29:29]The Imam of her time as per the incident of amongst others
[29:35]was Imam.
[29:35]Now that's in the case of Fatma.
[29:41]She rejects the so-called Khalifa or of her time and no one
[29:44]has the audacity to say that she dies in the state of
[29:49]Jah.
[29:50]Now what if the Sahaba reject the Khalifa of their time?
[29:52]Because remember one thing the hadith said that you have to have
[29:55]the pledge of allegiance for the khalif of your time and that
[30:01]you cannot disapprove of the khalif of your time.
[30:03]Something interesting is that has three interesting volumes which are all available
[30:08]for you my dear brothers and sisters in English for all of
[30:13]you to read.
[30:12]These three volumes are all available the history of tabari.
[30:17]This is the first of them.
[30:18]If you want to zoom in on this one, my dear brothers
[30:22]and sisters, you'll see that this one over here, the history of
[30:26]Tabari, the crisis of the early.
[30:28]You know how in Sunni Islam, you'll always talk about the greatest
[30:33]generation being that of the Sahabah and the and the forget what
[30:37]happened in Kbal.
[30:39]Yes, this is the most glorious generation.
[30:41]Forget, forget the killings of the great grandchildren of the prophet.
[30:45]The most glorious generation, mashallah.
[30:47]Anyway, Tabari here has the history of Tabari.
[30:51]You all know you have over here volume 15, the crisis of
[30:55]the early this crisis of the early is where we have a
[30:59]major conundrum.
[31:01]Many Sahabah who disapprove of a Khalifa.
[31:03]Do they die the death of Jah or not?
[31:06]You can't say that they all go to Jenna.
[31:08]But what if they disapprove of the Khalifa?
[31:11]Volume 15, the history of Tabari over here, of course, translated by
[31:16]Robert Steven Humphre.
[31:16]You've got over here volume 15.
[31:18]Volume 16 of Look at the title of volume 16.
[31:22]Volume 16 of I'll place them all together so all of you
[31:27]can see if you zoom into these three.
[31:30]Look at these.
[31:29]All of you are able to get this online.
[31:32]You can order these three on Amazon just in case you thought
[31:36]the Sahaba were all approving of the califfs.
[31:40]Many were disapproving.
[31:40]Does that mean they die in a state of jahalia?
[31:44]Volume 15.
[31:46]The community, sorry.
[31:45]Volume 15, the crisis of the early caliphate.
[31:50]Volume 16, the community divided.
[31:57]VOLUME 17, the first civil war.
[32:00]First one translated by Steven Robert Steven Humphre.
[32:03]The second one Adrien Brockett.
[32:05]The third one Gerard Horting.
[32:08]Okay.
[32:09]All of you can see over here we've got volume 15, volume
[32:12]16, volume 17 of which text of now when we want to
[32:20]see what is tabari showing us.
[32:22]He shows us that this whole idea that you must know the
[32:26]imam of your time.
[32:27]These companions knew of the Imam of their time but they disapproved
[32:33]of him big time.
[32:33]If anyone has launched a narrative and an attack on how the
[32:37]companions were so outspoken against the leader of their time and how
[32:44]they disapproved him and his cousin after him, all you have to
[32:50]do is open volume 15, volume 16 and volume 17 and look
[32:55]at the narrations within.
[32:56]Let's open volume 15 to begin with over here.
[33:00]The history of all of you can see my dear brothers and
[33:01]sisters.
[33:02]The history of Tabari volume 15 the crisis of the early kalafa
[33:05]translated by Robert Steven Humphre all of you can see over here
[33:11]series and near eastern studies state university New York you've got over
[33:15]here state university of New York press all of you can see
[33:18]the history oful and of course the mul if you come with
[33:22]me to page 183 let's see what it says over here my
[33:28]dear brothers and sisters come with me over here to the bottom.
[33:34]It was related to me.
[33:34]This is the event of the year 35.
[33:35]So this is the year in which bin gets killed.
[33:39]It's that period.
[33:41]Come back over here.
[33:41]It was related to me by Abdui Muhammad binasari his paternal uncleas.
[33:51]When the people saw what Otman was doing, the companions of the
[33:58]prophet in Medina wrote to the companions who were scattered throughout the
[34:02]frontier provinces, "You have gone forth but to struggle in the path
[34:06]of Almighty God for the sake of Muhammad's religion.
[34:10]In your absence, the religion of Muhammad has been corrupted and forsaken.
[34:16]Come then and reestablish Muhammad's religion." Thus they came from every direction
[34:21]until they killed Osman.
[34:26]Who killed Osman?
[34:29]Companions of Sai.
[34:30]Wall Allah you lied to people for so many years.
[34:34]Why did you lie?
[34:36]You said all these companions loved the first three and all of
[34:40]them admired them and all of them were inspired by them and
[34:43]all of them would pledge allegiance to them in a hurry.
[34:47]Look at the companions telling other companions.
[34:50]Look what they say.
[34:50]When the people saw what was doing, what was doing?
[34:55]Nepotism.
[34:56]By um were all over the place.
[34:59]Marwan Hakim had complete control.
[35:00]W Abb was drinking as much as he wanted.
[35:04]Even in salah.
[35:05]You could do whatever you want underman as long as you are
[35:07]related to him.
[35:08]When the people saw what was doing, the companions of the prophet
[35:11]in Medina wrote to the companions who were scattered throughout the frontier
[35:14]provinces.
[35:14]I thought all the companions were best friends and they all loved
[35:17]each other and they were all pious.
[35:21]It's them who led to the death of certainly think so.
[35:23]Come back.
[35:24]You have gone forth but to struggle in the path of God
[35:26]for the sake of Muhammad's religion.
[35:28]In your absence, the religion of Muhammad has been corrupted and forsaken.
[35:33]Come then and reestablish Muhammad's religion.
[35:37]A sahabi writes to other Sahabah that Allah's religion has been corrupted.
[35:42]If it was a Shia today saying that in a lecture they'll
[35:47]say they do not respect the companions.
[35:49]Go and sort out if you don't mind go and sort out
[35:51]this issue that the Sahabah had with each other and so blatant
[35:56]who they were amongst others who were all outspoken against the of
[36:04]their time.
[36:05]But what happens if someone's outspoken against the khalif of their time?
[36:09]Please play clip number two.
[36:10]We'll see very clearly what the sheh thinks that if you're outspoken
[36:13]and you don't take the pledge and obey, this is what happens.
[36:19]Please play clip number two.
[36:37]forl.
[37:10]Everybody's meant to obey once that khalif is in.
[37:14]But they certainly didn't.
[37:14]And nor did they with Muawia because with Muawia you clearly saw
[37:20]the groups emerge one after another you began to see all of
[37:24]these groups emerge where they were outspoken and now you had people
[37:27]who sided with Otman's line, people who sided with Ali's line.
[37:33]Just on the point about Im Ali, if a person doesn't pledge
[37:38]allegiance to Ali, they die the death of Jah.
[37:42]Does Aisha fall into Jahyah?
[37:46]Aisha didn't pledge allegiance to Im Ali.
[37:50]So, does she fall into or no?
[37:55]Because the hadith said if you don't have the pledge on your
[38:01]neck you fall the death of the hadith also said if you
[38:03]show any disapproval you die the death of jah is dead the
[38:08]death of jahyah is that what she died.
[38:11]How about died the death of jah?
[38:13]How about died the death of jahyah?
[38:17]How about did he die the death of jahyah?
[38:20]And how about the rest of the companions who fought him at
[38:26]jal?
[38:27]If you're meant to obey the khalif of your time, they never
[38:32]obeyed the khalif of their time.
[38:33]They rose an army.
[38:36]They raised an army to fight Ali.
[38:38]Is there anyone in the Sunni world who is willing to say
[38:42]on the basis of knowing the imam of your time?
[38:44]And on the basis that if you don't give bay to the
[38:48]imam of your time, then you die the death of Jah.
[38:51]Does Aisha fall in the death of Jah when she did not
[38:57]give bay to Ali at all in her life?
[38:58]Because you said IM Ali became fourth rightly guided Khalifa.
[39:02]Thanks for the compliment.
[39:02]from the year 36 after hijra to the year 40 after hijra
[39:06]didn't give him bay mar didn't give him bay abdah didn't give
[39:12]him bay didn't give him bay zub didn't give him bay then
[39:15]there were those who absconded mashallah the hadith says you must know
[39:19]the leader of your time you must have you cannot disapprove where
[39:26]was or abdah's or ib's are you willing to say that your
[39:31]companions who You give a blanket statement of approval on the basis
[39:41]of on the basis of on the basis of if they did
[39:48]not give to the im of their time do they not fall
[39:51]in a state of jah which is either falling intoal or falling
[39:54]into kufur which one come back with me over here first you
[39:58]hadman and they disapproved then They disapproved of Ali.
[40:04]But those who disapproved of Ali still have next to their names.
[40:08]They're still admired.
[40:10]They're still adored.
[40:11]Even if they rose with armies to fight Ali, even if they
[40:15]held their swords off to fight Ali, they were admired and adored.
[40:18]So what if they wanted to kill Ali?
[40:21]So what?
[40:23]They're all Sahabah.
[40:25]And Sahaba can fight each other.
[40:27]There's no issue.
[40:26]God says in the Quran, groups will fight each other, try and
[40:31]find peace between them.
[40:33]But if one continues against the other, then one will overcome, one
[40:37]will fight the other.
[40:37]Look at the state of the Muslims.
[40:39]But Aisha is no way called in any way.
[40:43]Not at all.
[40:44]Even though she did not have the pledge of allegiance of the
[40:48]Khalifa of her time, who was called the rightly guided Khalifa.
[40:50]So if you fight the rightly guided, does that mean you're rightly
[40:52]guided?
[40:53]Then after him, come with me over here.
[40:58]The history of Tabari, volume 17, the first civil war, translated by
[41:03]Gerard Horting, State University of New York Press.
[41:08]My dear brothers and sisters, all of you can see over here
[41:13]1996, State University of New York.
[41:18]I want us to go towards page 185.
[41:21]If I remember rightly, this is taking me back to my PhD
[41:24]days.
[41:25]So, I'm I hope I've got the right pages.
[41:27]Uh, come over here with me.
[41:29]Let's see.
[41:31]Let's let's come over here to page 70.
[41:32]The first civil war.
[41:35]Okay?
[41:36]Cuz as you know, my PhD was on Muawa.
[41:38]So, these were sections I had to read a lot about.
[41:39]Okay?
[41:40]So if we look at the first um the first civil war
[41:45]okay my dear brothers and sisters if we look at the first
[41:48]civil war you'll see over here hashim binbah al and the night
[41:57]of howling of course that was the night one of the most
[42:01]difficult nights that anyone has ever faced in the battle between trying
[42:07]to kill and all of them will go to Jenna Come back.
[42:12]According to Abu Mnaf, Abu Salam, at evening Hashimb Zi summoned the
[42:17]men.
[42:17]Let anyone who seeks God and the next world come to me.
[42:21]Many came to him, and he attacked the Syrians with a band
[42:23]of followers several times.
[42:26]But everywhere he attacked them, they held firm against him, and the
[42:30]fighting was fierce.
[42:29]He said to his men, "Do not let this steadfastness of theirs
[42:33]that you see frighten you.
[42:34]By Allah, it is only the firm of the Arabs that you
[42:37]see and their steadfastness is beneath their banners and in their battle
[42:41]positions.
[42:40]But they are in error while you follow truth.
[42:43]Notice that the Sahabah at did not say we're both on truth.
[42:49]We're both going ja.
[42:48]They are on error.
[42:51]We are on truth.
[42:51]Simple.
[42:52]There's no such thing as fights fights.
[42:56]Give me a break.
[42:59]Come back.
[42:59]As you will see, but they are in error while you follow
[43:01]truth.
[43:02]Oh my people, be patient and firm and vi with them in
[43:03]steadfastness.
[43:04]Unite together and let us march against our enemy with deliberation and
[43:09]purpose.
[43:10]March against our enemy.
[43:11]Sahabi versus sahabi.
[43:14]But they say enemy.
[43:15]Then stand firm.
[43:17]Help one another.
[43:17]Remember Allah.
[43:18]Let no man ask his brother for anything.
[43:20]Do not keep turning around.
[43:20]Be valiant in face of their courage and make jihad against them
[43:23]in expectation of your divine reward until God decides between us and
[43:26]them.
[43:27]For he is the best of judges.
[43:31]Then he went forward with a band of the Quran and he
[43:32]and they fought fiercely at evening until they were content with what
[43:35]they had achieved.
[43:36]At that point a young warrior came out against them and said,
[43:38]"I am the son of the great kings of Asan and today
[43:42]I adhere to the dean of man." There has come a report
[43:49]that has caused much alarm that Ali killed the son of Afan.
[43:52]Notice he says I adhere to the dean of man.
[43:55]That means I'm not pledging allegiance to that khalifa.
[44:00]That means jahil jah come back.
[44:00]He rushed to the attack and did not turn away until they
[44:03]had struck with his sword.
[44:05]He then made free with abuse and curses and hashba said to
[44:08]him servant of God after such talk there is conflict and after
[44:13]such fighting there is reckoning.
[44:14]Fear Allah for you are returning to him and he will question
[44:16]you about this encounter and what you sought by it.
[44:19]He replied I am fighting because your master does not perform the
[44:22]prayer ritual as I have been told and neither do you.
[44:25]I am fighting you because your master killed our Khalifa and you
[44:27]urged him to do it.
[44:29]Hashim said to him, "What have you got to do with Iban
[44:33]Afan?" It was the companions of Muhammad and the sons of his
[44:36]companions and the Qur of the people who killed him when he
[44:41]introduced innovation and opposed the authority of the Quran.
[44:43]They were people of religion and more worthy of handling the affairs
[44:45]of the people than are you and your companions.
[44:47]I do not think that the affairs of this community and of
[44:52]this religion have been neglected for even an instant.
[44:54]You see over here my dear brothers and sisters notice over here
[44:59]that they continue in their narration attacking one another.
[45:06]This group doesn't recognize Imam Ali Ali rather they have recognized to
[45:12]kill Imam Ali and his people like Hashim and others very clearly
[45:16]very clearly who are the ones who are defending Im Ali.
[45:21]I ask you on that day who's the jah the one who's
[45:23]given to Ali or Muawi and his group who will not give
[45:28]to Ali.
[45:30]And if not giving you fall intoah disapproval of the Khalifa you
[45:35]fall into jahyah killing Sahabah you fall intoah.
[45:39]Imagine my dear brothers and sisters you see over here as you
[45:44]continue in page 73 according to Abu Mkhav and so on passed
[45:48]near a group of Syrians amongst them who was abusing him verbally.
[45:52]is so funny was abusing was abusing he was told about that
[46:01]and stopped with those of his men who were close to them
[46:02]and said attack them the presence of God the dignity the dignity
[46:06]of Islam and the signs of the righteous be with you by
[46:08]God those amongst them who are closest to ignorance are their leaders
[46:14]and the one who has mustered them together with of course As's
[46:20]mom's name just to remind of what his 's role was in
[46:25]life.
[46:26]Absolut the wine drinker who was flogged according to God's law in
[46:29]the time of Islam.
[46:29]They are just the ones who would stand and cause harm to
[46:33]me and find fault with me.
[46:34]For even before today, they have fought against me.
[46:36]At a time when I was calling them to Islam and they
[46:38]were calling me to the worship of idols.
[46:40]Look what I Ali says.
[46:42]He says, "Look, I'm fighting the people who I fought before.
[46:46]I used to bring call them to Islam.
[46:48]They used to call me to shik.
[46:49]What's they're all the kings of course Islam had to rehabilitate them
[46:58]the suddenly become angels on earth suddenly become the most aesthetic people
[47:02]in the world shows Im Ali they're abusing him at but if
[47:05]you die without the of a ruler even if that ruler you
[47:10]don't like then you're a jah please include more on that jah
[47:13]list arguably the worst one has to be Imam Hussein and Yazid
[47:20]Yazid Even amongst the majority of Sunni Muslims, Yazid was known as
[47:26]a transgressor, sinful, drunkard.
[47:26]And Imam Hussein says, "A man like me will not pledge allegiance
[47:31]to a man like him." That means Im Hussein didn't know who
[47:33]the imam of his time was.
[47:35]No, he is the imam of the time.
[47:36]Now, if he doesn't pledge allegiance to Yazid, COULD ANYONE DARE TO
[47:39]SAY that the master of the youth of paradise is going to
[47:43]go to hell because he didn't pledge allegiance to the khalif of
[47:48]Islam as Abdahb Omar wanted us to in the hadith in Muslim.
[47:51]Could anyone dare say that in the Salafi world?
[47:57]Nothing should surprise you.
[47:57]Please play clip number three.
[48:24]Omar trouble.
[48:33]for them.
[49:01]for I No.
[49:48]Sure.
[50:05]Islam.
[50:24]Hey I don't know.
[50:51]is exit isn't the case.
[51:07]Yeah.
[51:11]Okay.
[51:26]Shut up, you despicable liar.
[51:29]That's all it can end with.
[51:31]The guy is asking, "Hold on a minute.
[51:33]Yazid goes Yazid must be respected.
[51:36]Yazid Muawi is the Okay.
[51:36]Who killed then?
[51:39]If he's the khalif is not giving him.
[51:41]So what's your position on?
[51:42]No, no, no.
[51:44]Muawi is great.
[51:43]Muawi is great.
[51:45]But again, we ask the question.
[51:47]He's saying Yazid has to be respected.
[51:50]Imm Hussein didn't respect Yazid.
[51:52]Im Hussein didn't give him IM Hussein disapproved of him.
[51:58]Does IM Hussein die as a Jah?
[52:00]Play clip number four and you'll see a person saying maybe Im
[52:06]Hussein did Hussein.
[52:52]I don't know what else to say.
[52:57]An absolute mess of a first 50 years of Islamic history.
[52:59]This man has just disrespected the prophet's grandson and others fought the
[53:05]prophet's son-in-law and others angered the prophet's daughter.
[53:07]But all of them will be going to Jenna.
[53:15]Hey, hey, hey.
[53:50]Now, we've just broken down this amazing wall at the Zenibia complex.
[53:54]And the reason that I'm telling you this is because we want
[53:57]full transparency with all of you that this is going to be
[54:01]a media hub for all of you.
[54:02]The first ever global sheer media hub in not just the west,
[54:04]but in the east as well.
[54:07]There's never been a place for channel and charity to come together
[54:10]and represent Shia views on this scale.
[54:12]There are so many Husini.
[54:12]There are so many imam ba but their conversations stay restricted within
[54:16]their community.
[54:17]This is a global project, a global endeavor to support every single
[54:21]Shia and Muslim around the world and none other than the name
[54:25]of S.
[54:24]Zanib.
[54:25]And why do we choose SA Zanib?
[54:26]Say Zanib was the first one to give a public majalis for
[54:30]Muhammad Hussein.
[54:31]And we are the first ones to give a global majalis for
[54:33]immusin.
[54:34]We pray that every single one of you will support during this
[54:37]holy month of Ramadan to make sure that this dream becomes a
[54:43]reality.
