[0:38]the commentary on dua of the honorable traits this beautiful du'av of

[0:44]imam zayn abdeen alayhi salaam and all of the draws of the

[0:48]imams of the albeit are beautiful but this one it's special in

[0:54]that it teaches us the best qualities the most honorable of the

[1:01]traits in this part that we will be covering the imam alayhi

[1:05]salaam sheds light on something very important when it comes to dua

[1:11]we know that we're supposed to ask allah subhanahu ta'ala for everything

[1:14]ask god for anything that comes on your mind you're supposed to

[1:20]ask because the only one that is able to and the only

[1:22]one that has promised to and is willing to help us and

[1:26]answer us is allah subhanahu ta'ala sometimes others can't help us even

[1:30]if they want to or sometimes others they don't help us when

[1:34]we want them to help us call upon me and i shall

[1:44]answer you however the imam alayhi salaam pays attention and brings us

[1:49]to pay attention to this very important point it's not about what

[1:57]you have that makes you happy but it's about the attitude that

[2:00]you have towards what you have say there are people that are

[2:05]millionaires there are people that are multi-millionaires and billionaires but they're still

[2:12]not happy so it's not what you ask for from god that

[2:16]brings you happiness or what you have what god has given you

[2:20]that brings you happiness but rather it's the attitude that you have

[2:24]towards what you have someone might have a little but they regard

[2:30]it as a lot and therefore they'll be more grateful and someone

[2:34]might have more but they'll regard it as nothing and they won't

[2:38]be grateful for it so here this is this brings to our

[2:42]attention a very key ingredient to happiness and life altogether and that

[2:47]is the feeling of being grateful the feeling of being content with

[2:54]what allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has given you being satisfied with what

[2:58]allah has given you this is the greatest treasure of my dear

[3:02]brothers and sisters to be satisfied and there's a statement that says

[3:10]being satisfied and content with what allah has given you that is

[3:17]the treasure that does not finish that is the treasure that is

[3:24]unending because you're always going to be satisfied no matter what you

[3:27]have if you have a little or if you have a lot

[3:29]you're going to be satisfied so we need to teach ourselves to

[3:36]be content to be satisfied with what allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has

[3:42]given us and in a be satisfied with what god has destined

[3:58]for you you'll be the wealthiest person so wealth is relative my

[4:03]dear brothers and sisters today this person their stocks went up another

[4:07]day it went down it keeps moving it keeps fluctuating a few

[4:12]years ago they said bill gates was the richest person now it's

[4:18]jeff bezos but in reality the richest and the wealthiest person it's

[4:22]not is not the one who has the more more money in

[4:26]their bank account or more stocks the wealthiest person is the one

[4:31]who's most content with what they have because if you're satisfied and

[4:36]you're content with what you have then that's the whole purpose of

[4:40]money people want money so that they could be happy some people

[4:42]they have money and they're not happy and there are some people

[4:46]who have alhamdulillah they're surviving they're living they they have they live

[4:50]a simple life but they're they're well off and they're satisfied with

[4:55]what allah has given them they could be happier than the one

[4:59]who has more so here the imam alaihissalam in this part of

[5:07]the dua he brings us to our attention he says muhammad and

[5:18]his family and crown me with sufficiency usually who wears the taj

[5:24]who wears the crown the king and the queen they wear the

[5:28]crown meaning that they have so much that they put the jewelry

[5:33]and they decorate themselves with that which they have the diamonds and

[5:39]the gold and the pearls well here the imam he says no

[5:44]i don't want to be crowned with these things that will be

[5:48]taken away that will go sooner or later crown me with sufficiency

[5:54]let me be satisfied with what you have given me that is

[6:00]the greatest wealth that is the greatest wealth that any person could

[6:04]ask for if you want to do dua if you want to

[6:08]ask allah subhanahu ta'ala for something ask allah to bring you happiness

[6:11]with what you have not to give you more and who knows

[6:15]if that's going to bring you happiness we know a lot of

[6:18]people they have wealth they have children they have land they have

[6:20]cars they have houses and they're not happy so ask for the

[6:26]important thing and allah is able to give you happiness allah is

[6:29]able to give you things anything that you want for anything that

[6:33]you ask for allah is able to give it to you so

[6:39]here and the quran also reminds us of this to not look

[6:45]at what it's in the hands of the people typically one of

[6:48]the reasons why people are always unsatisfied with what they have the

[6:53]imam says let me what what's a wijnib let me be satisfied

[6:56]with what you have with what i have typically when are people

[7:01]not satisfied with what they have people are not satisfied when they

[7:06]look at what others have you see this with kids you give

[7:09]a kid a toy the kid is playing with it for hours

[7:13]and they're so happy with it as soon as they see another

[7:18]kid's toy what do they do they they throw their toy they

[7:20]don't they don't accept it anymore they don't like it anymore even

[7:23]though this is the toy that you were satisfied with you were

[7:26]playing with the whole time but now that they see someone else's

[7:30]toy then they don't look at theirs they don't appreciate theirs anymore

[7:34]the quran says this about adults we see this with kids all

[7:40]the time but the same thing happens with adults you buy a

[7:43]house and then you see someone else bought a house you buy

[7:46]a car and then you see someone else bought a car you

[7:47]buy a phone and then you see a new phone comes out

[7:49]and you start not liking and not appreciating what you have this

[7:54]is of course not everyone but this is a trait this is

[7:56]a quality that many people have this is why allah says and

[8:10]don't stretch your eyes to what we have given others as wajan

[8:16]minimum other pairs pairs of others what we have given them the

[8:22]beauty of this life and then allah says because everything that they

[8:28]have they're being tested with just like you're being tested with everything

[8:31]that you have what others have they're also being tested with so

[8:37]one of the reasons why people do not are not satisfied with

[8:42]what they have is because they look at others and typically people

[8:46]look at others they look at leaders they look at role models

[8:50]they look at those people who they regard regard as guardians so

[8:55]here the imam he says let me be satisfied he says and

[9:07]then the imam he says the first thing that he says after

[9:43]make me sufficient he says wasani and place me in an excellent

[9:50]guardianship what does that mean that means oh allah give me good

[9:58]role models and give me and grant me the true guidance because

[10:06]typically we look at what's in the hands of others our role

[10:10]models our leaders and then we are not happy with what we

[10:15]have so the imam says o allah i want to be satisfied

[10:18]but i want to have good guardianship i want to have a

[10:22]good leader a good role model who will guide me who will

[10:26]show me the way and this is a very important point we

[10:33]need to have good good leaders good role models who teach us

[10:37]that wealth is not what brings satisfaction being content our role models

[10:43]like the imams of the beta he tells one of his governors

[11:09]he tells him every person has an imam every person has a

[11:16]role model every person has someone who they regard as a guide

[11:19]and they follow this person and then he says as for me

[11:25]as for your imam he says as for your imam all i

[11:37]have from this life is two outfits he would he had one

[11:42]outfit for the summer and one outfit for the winter and for

[11:44]the food all i have is two pieces of bread each day

[11:50]that's all that i had and then he says you're not going

[12:00]to be able to live my lifestyle amir and mohammadin says that

[12:03]he says however try to follow he helped me with what with

[12:09]being god conscious and not falling into the sins which they had

[12:14]and strive for chastity and striving hard to seek it this is

[12:24]the imam this is the leader that we need to have so

[12:27]the imam he says make me satisfied and sufficient with what i

[12:34]have was and grants me the true guidance and do not try

[12:44]me with abundance of wealth imagine the imam he says oh allah

[12:49]i don't want to be tested with so much wealth typically when

[12:55]we do dua a lot of people when they do dua or

[13:00]what they look for because of you know looking at this life

[13:03]and looking at hollywood and and the pleasures of this life people

[13:06]want to collect more people are always always collecting more however the

[13:14]imam he says don't test me with so much wealth typically people

[13:21]are worried about how they got their money because they know there

[13:26]are haram ways of making money and we have a hadith about

[13:33]this where rasool allah on the day of judgment no one will

[13:39]be allowed to move a step until they are interrogated on your

[13:44]wealth how you on your life how you spent it on your

[13:48]youth how you spent it and about your wealth how did you

[13:58]make your wealth this is something a lot of people a lot

[14:00]of them they pay attention to that they don't want to go

[14:03]and make money in the haram way but a lot of people

[14:06]forget that it's not only how you made your money that you're

[14:10]going to be questioned about you're also going to be questioned about

[14:13]how you spent your money this is very important and don't try

[14:28]me with the abundance of wealth because if i have a lot

[14:34]of wealth what does that mean that means i'm going to be

[14:36]asked about a lot of things for every cent for every dollar

[14:41]that's in my bank account i'm going to be questioned about how

[14:44]i made it and how i'm spending it so today when we're

[14:50]seeing people suffering all over the world when we see people that

[14:53]are in need what are we doing with our money how are

[14:57]we using our money how are we spending our money am i

[15:00]just thinking of myself or am i giving other people allah says

[15:05]in the quran [Applause] and amongst your wealth there's a haqq there's

[15:16]a right and that goes to those who are in need those

[15:21]who are in need of support those who don't have so we

[15:26]have to give them so the imam is saying don't test me

[15:28]with abundance of wealth i don't want too much wealth i just

[15:30]want what's sufficient for me i just want what's enough for me

[15:34]for my family for my children i don't want more than that

[15:54]he says and grant me excellent comfort make me comfortable in my

[16:00]life that's all what we want you use wealth to be comfortable

[16:06]you don't you don't take away your comfort for the sake of

[16:08]wealth which is not going to is just going to be sitting

[16:10]in the bank account you want to be comfortable he says and

[16:13]give grant me excellent comfort and do not make my life a

[16:18]continuous triple trouble i don't want to be continuously being troubled and

[16:26]do not reject my prayer and repulsion don't reject my prayers my

[16:35]dua my supplication for i do not make anyone your rival i'm

[16:42]not going to make anyone at the same point as a rival

[16:46]with allah subhanahu wa ta'ala nor do i call upon anyone as

[16:51]your equal there's no one meaning i don't believe in anyone i

[16:56]don't go to anyone i don't ask anyone other than you you're

[17:00]the only one who i ask when we ask other people when

[17:05]we run after what other people have to offer what does that

[17:09]mean that means that we're not turning to allah subhana tala that

[17:12]means in the back of my mind i'm saying let me turn

[17:15]to this person and that person and this person when it comes

[17:18]to my risk when it comes to my comfort when it comes

[17:22]to happiness and i'll just go to allah later but the imam

[17:24]ali said i'm saying no don't give me so much wealth where

[17:27]you're going to test me with first make me satisfied don't give

[17:31]me give me good leaders don't give me too much wealth where

[17:35]you're going to test me with it and don't make me run

[17:40]after something that's not going to help me that's not going to

[17:42]be there for me give me comfort and i will not go

[17:47]to anyone other than you because i know that no one is

[17:53]equal to you and i don't make anyone equal to you so

[17:57]this is a testament of faith my dear brothers and sisters and

[18:02]then the imam alaihi he moves on to talk about what gives

[18:10]blessings to the money and to the wealth and to what we

[18:14]own it's very important to ask for blessings my dear brothers and

[18:18]sisters blessings from allah because sometimes people have but they're not blessed

[18:23]you might find someone who makes so much money but every day

[18:27]they're being tested every day there's a catastrophe every day someone's injured

[18:31]a car accident a house trouble something happens where there's no barakah

[18:36]there's no blessing in what they have what's the value of that

[18:38]you work and you make money but then there's no blessing in

[18:43]it you move on to ask for the blessings bless your life

[18:52]ask for the blessings from allah and prevent me from extravagance my

[19:34]dear brothers and sisters extravagance takes away the barakah from your life

[19:40]what's extravagance extravagance is spending more than what you need you don't

[19:47]need that right now people who are extravagant they go to israel

[19:55]is meaning you could eat one plate you go and you eat

[19:58]two plates and there's something that's worse than israel worse than extravagance

[20:02]and that which most of the times people who are extravagant they

[20:08]fall in that what is that that's wasting when you're extravagant you're

[20:12]not going to use everything that you have there are some people

[20:17]they have so many outfits more outfits than they could even possibly

[20:23]wear so what happens it gets wasted they don't use it some

[20:26]people when it comes to food they're extravagant they do israel they

[20:32]take more and then what ends up happening with that food if

[20:35]you're going to eat it all there's nothing wrong with it but

[20:38]the moment one piece of rice one piece of bread one piece

[20:42]of meat gets thrown in the trash then that's tabir that's haram

[20:57]so this is why the imam he says and protect me prevent

[21:04]me from extravagance because extravagance too much in this life is not

[21:08]good for you and preserve my sustenance from being wasted how much

[21:17]food is being wasted every day how much clothes are being wasted

[21:21]how many shoes do you have how much food is being wasted

[21:27]how much money is being wasted if you want to sit and

[21:31]you calculate how much have you wasted in one year how much

[21:34]food have you thrown away how many outfits how much money you've

[21:39]spent here and there that got wasted just sit and think with

[21:43]yourself how much have you wasted all of that it could have

[21:47]gone to help people who are in need but instead it went

[21:51]in the trash instead it got thrown away you find sometimes people

[21:55]they invite others they host a big party so that people could

[22:00]say masha'allah this person's rich masha allah this person's wealthy masha allah

[22:03]this person is generous there's nothing wrong with hosting but sometimes we

[22:09]end up wasting and that waste is something that we're going to

[22:14]have to we're going to answer allah about and that wasting is

[22:19]what will take away the barakah from our lives allah says in

[22:25]the quran that if you thank me if you think if you

[22:36]appreciate if you take care of what you have if you preserve

[22:38]what you have i will put barakah in it i will bless

[22:43]it but if you waste if you throw it away if you

[22:44]don't care about it then the torment of allah is going to

[22:48]be severe and allah will take it away from you so he

[22:53]says he says and increase my possessions through blessing them you have

[23:04]a phone it could be blessed you have a computer it could

[23:07]be blessed you have a car it could be blessed you have

[23:12]a house it could be a blessed place ask allah to bless

[23:15]what you already have don't look at what other people have and

[23:18]try to want more because that's not going to necessarily bring happiness

[23:23]and then he says set me upon the path of guidance through

[23:29]piety in what i spend he says let me be on the

[23:44]path of piety let me be on the path of righteousness and

[23:47]the way i spend my money it's not only the way you

[23:51]make your money we're always worried we want to make halal money

[23:53]i don't want to i don't want any haram money in my

[23:57]wealth because when you have haram money you're going to eat that

[24:00]your flesh is going to grow from the haram and then your

[24:03]is not going to be answered anymore but it's not only how

[24:07]you make your money it's how you spend it ask allah to

[24:10]give you the barakah and the way that you spend it spend

[24:13]it in the way of allah now i'm not saying you go

[24:17]and you donate all your money no you deserve to live a

[24:21]happy comfortable satisfied life where you take care of your family you

[24:24]travel you go on vacation you do whatever you have to do

[24:27]but also there's a part of your money spend it on a

[24:31]good cause give those who are in need those who are suffering

[24:35]so the imam alayhi in this beautiful dua he sheds this light

[24:41]on these issues that we rarely think about so we need to

[24:46]know when it comes to risk when it comes to sustenance we

[24:50]need to know that it's all from allah the way we make

[24:56]it the way we spend it allah subhanahu ta'ala is the one

[24:59]who is able and is the one who the only one who

[25:02]will bless you in what you have imam sadak alaihi he was

[25:08]asked this question [Music] on what issue have you built your life

[25:15]and your work he says every day i remind myself of these

[25:23]four things i knew from the first moment that my risk what

[25:31]god has placed for me no one else will take it so

[25:34]that's it i'm not worried anymore you find some people they're worried

[25:38]they're running they're so competitive they're doing this and that trying to

[25:42]take something you're going to take exactly what god has destined for

[25:48]you not one cent more and not one cent less and i

[25:55]know that there are certain things that are obligatory upon me that

[26:01]no one will be able to do other than me and i

[26:04]worked on them today my dear brothers and sisters when it comes

[26:08]to wealth some people are willing to sacrifice their faith sacrifice their

[26:13]family sacrifice their household sacrifice relationship relationships why to run after wealth

[26:22]the imam says i know that there are certain things that i'm

[26:27]going to be asked about no one is going to be able

[26:31]to fulfill these things other than me so fast so i focused

[26:37]on these things and i realized that death comes by surprise that

[26:49]doesn't give warnings even though it does give warnings when you see

[26:52]other people but it comes there's no you're not going to have

[26:56]a the angel of death send you a notification a year two

[26:59]years three years or a few months before no just comes no

[27:04]one knows when they die so he says so i prepared myself

[27:08]for death and i realize that god is watching me so i'm

[27:15]embarrassed of god but when it comes to risk when it comes

[27:18]to running after the comfort of this life sometimes we forget these

[27:24]things and the imams they remind us through the dua through their

[27:31]words and then the imam alayhi salam continues he says oh allah

[27:55]bless muhammad and his family and spare me the burden of earning

[28:00]he says meaning sometimes i have to keep running to earn one

[28:07]single dollar i have to run for it he says oh allah

[28:10]spare me that you send your risk to me now that doesn't

[28:13]mean that i don't have to work you have to work but

[28:15]i don't want to be always worried about every single dollar and

[28:19]cent that comes in my bank accounts and provide me without measure

[28:30]there are some people they're very greedy they'll only give you for

[28:34]the wh what you did they're going to give you you worked

[28:37]for one minute they're going to give you one minute you stopped

[28:39]working you're one minute shorter they're going they keep measuring this is

[28:44]how people are but allah subhanahu ta'ala is able to give you

[28:48]without anything allah just opens the doors of blessing upon a person

[28:53]so he says and provide for me without measure of course who

[28:59]does allah give that to allah tells us the one who has

[29:14]taqwa is god conscious allah will create a solution for this person

[29:18]for every problem that this person faces and the risk will come

[29:24]to this person in a way that this person does not even

[29:26]take to account for meaning without measure the risk will come to

[29:30]you so he says so that the seeking of sustenance should not

[29:39]distract me from your worship see this is the goal of the

[29:43]imam the goal is to worship god because that's our goal in

[29:46]life our purpose in this life is to seek the satisfaction of

[29:55]allah but we forget that to find comfort in this life he

[29:58]says oh allah you take care of me you take care of

[30:01]my sustenance and the rest leave it up to allah subhanahu ta'ala

[30:06]and then he says he says he says so that he says

[30:26]so that the the work does not distract me from your worship

[30:32]nor would i have to bear the low the load of ill

[30:37]results of earning a lot of the earning has ill results you

[30:39]make money if you made a little bit more the irs is

[30:42]going to be after you if you made something your deal was

[30:48]not very correct you might get in trouble someone is going to

[30:51]come after you you did this you did that he says oh

[30:55]allah take away the tabi'at all of these ill results that come

[31:01]with making money you think that people that make make money they

[31:03]don't have a headache no they have a headache they have so

[31:06]much ill results they have so much tabi he says oh allah

[31:09]you give me the risk and you take away the tabi and

[31:13]then he says grant me what i seek through your power and

[31:27]protect me from what i fear through your might so here this

[31:34]is the beautiful dua of imam zayn al-abidin of course since we're

[31:41]talking about the risk the imam continues he says don't allow me

[31:46]to ask others oh allah you take care of me don't make

[31:51]me go and go and take humiliate myself by asking others you

[31:56]be there for me it says guard my face and honor through

[32:25]prosperity and do not disgrace my dignity don't take away my dignity

[32:31]through neediness where i'm in need of other people some people because

[32:35]they go to this person and that person they humiliate themselves they

[32:38]they humble themselves to others instead of humbling themselves to allah subhanahu

[32:43]ta'ala he says lest i seek providence from those whom you have

[32:47]provided the one who you're begging from is someone who god has

[32:54]given to allah has blessed this person so that doesn't mean why

[32:57]should you ask someone who is also in need of god when

[33:03]you could ask allah subhanahu wa ta'ala he says he says when

[33:21]i'm asking this person and that person then what's going to happen

[33:26]then i would be tempted to praise the one who gave me

[33:27]even though the one who gave you is probably not worthy of

[33:31]being praised maybe this person is a non-believer maybe this person has

[33:34]done so many bad things i'm just going to have to come

[33:39]and praise this person and don't he says the reason why i

[33:45]want from you and not from anyone else so that i don't

[33:47]have to praise someone and i don't have to blame someone who

[33:50]denies me if someone wasn't able to give me because they didn't

[33:52]have because they were excused i don't have to sit and talk

[33:56]bad about this person and afflicted with blaming he who denies me

[34:00]while you not they are the master of giving and denying so

[34:04]my dear brothers and sisters in this part of the dua the

[34:07]imam focuses on the risk on the sustenance how we should seek

[34:11]it how we should refrain from it what type of risk brings

[34:18]satisfaction and that we should only turn to allah ta'ala and this

[34:22]is why the imam alayhi salam is the imam who teaches us

[34:24]these honorable traits and we have to implement these honorable traits in

[34:30]our lives was
