[0:04]audhu billahi min ash-shaitani rajim bismillah ar-rahman ar-rahim I begin in the
[0:11]name of the Almighty God the compassionate the merciful the one who
[0:15]has created everything in utmost perfection and may the peace and blessings
[0:21]of the Almighty God be upon his pure and beloved messenger the
[0:28]holy prophet muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa ali and his immaculate progeny of
[0:37]the island bait especially the leader of our time the awaited savior
[0:43]and imam al-mahdi may Allah hastened his reappearance and make us all
[0:50]amongst us sincere and dedicated servants my respected brothers and sisters assalamu
[0:53]alaykum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh in this course we will be examining the book
[1:07]of L kafi which is the most prominent and the most important
[1:16]book of hadith authored by the late mallamma muhammad eben yaqoob alcool
[1:23]a me some eleven centuries ago he spent 20 years of his
[1:29]life traveling from one city to another city from one village to
[1:38]another village compiling this important book of hadith gathering what he found
[1:47]to be authentic narrations that were attributed to the Imams of an
[1:52]idol debate and to the Holy Prophet peace be upon him it
[1:55]is by far the most important book of hadith that we have
[2:01]it is our major source when it comes to the religion of
[2:05]allah subhanho wa taala now there's a story behind this book when
[2:09]one of his fellow friends at the time approached him and he
[2:16]told him don't you see the ignorance in our era our ignorant
[2:20]people are only Muslim by name they don't understand the path of
[2:28]a debate the religion of God he asked him to write a
[2:31]book that gathers the narrations of a debate in organized chapters so
[2:37]that people can be familiar with their faith people can be familiar
[2:41]with the hadith of a little bit peace be upon them so
[2:47]he took it on himself to honor this request and it took
[2:54]him 20 years to author this book to compile this book as
[2:58]we mentioned in the course on the science of hadith this was
[3:06]a unique effort because the narrations of Angela debates were scattered around
[3:11]in the Muslim world in booklets each of the companions would write
[3:14]a book they would record the hadith they heard from the Imam
[3:18]or from another companion and you had hundreds of these books and
[3:25]booklets it was not easily accessible to the average person because you
[3:29]would have to go and collect all these manuscripts and they were
[3:33]not in any order they were disorganized so this was very difficult
[3:38]only a dedicated scholar could do something like that so what he
[3:44]did he gathered all these manuscripts and he compiled all of them
[3:48]into one book and he called it you know when he gave
[3:55]it to his friend he told him this will suffice this book
[4:01]that I give you it's sufficient it's enough and that's the meaning
[4:05]of the word coffee what does coffee mean in Arabic you know
[4:08]if someone is giving you something let's say you're invited for lunch
[4:15]and someone wants to put food on your plate and you don't
[4:17]want anymore what do you say in Arabic coffee right enough this
[4:23]book is enough for the Shia now there is also another story
[4:28]narrated some scholars of the past have narrated this but we can't
[4:32]verify whether this is accurate or not it has said that one
[4:39]of the scholars of the past he received a letter from an
[4:43]imam and Mahajan Ilana forager in which the Imam Ali Salaam supposedly
[4:51]according to this account when he was asked about the book of
[4:53]coffee is this an authentic book do you handle bait authorized this
[4:57]book the imam ali salam says and coffee caffeine lashya tina the
[5:03]book of coffee is enough for our shia so this has been
[5:06]also narrated you'll hear this expression commonly referred to but we can't
[5:12]really verify if this is something that actually happened or not it's
[5:15]possible but we can't verify it in any case it's a blessed
[5:23]book it contains the nor the light the end the knowledge of
[5:26]anti debate peace be upon them it contains over 16,000 narrations dedicated
[5:34]scholars will spend decades analyzing this book every single word every single
[5:40]sentence so the religion of allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala has preached by the
[5:46]Prophet and the Imams of any debates are found in this book
[5:49]they are truly gems each word is a gem is a treasure
[5:56]now let's begin by analyzing the first hadith in the book of
[6:00]coffee if you go to page one after the introduction in the
[6:09]foreword it is tradition 1.1.1 the first one refers to the book
[6:16]which is the book of the intellect and then the second one
[6:23]is the number for the chapter because the book of the intellect
[6:27]has several chapters and then the last one is the number of
[6:30]the hadith so this is how this was organized in this particular
[6:38]edition so tradition 1.1.1 and Collini he decides to open his book
[6:44]to start his book by using this hadith by starting with this
[6:49]hadith and he starts with the chapter on the intellect because that
[6:55]is the most significant tool the human being has the intellect the
[7:00]power of reason how do you come to know allah subhanaw taala
[7:03]through the intellect how do you distinguish good from bad through the
[7:07]intellect how do you understand the path of guidance through the intellect
[7:13]therefore everything goes back to the intellect so we see that the
[7:19]author starts with this book the book of the intellect and the
[7:23]first hadith that he lists here is a hadith that has to
[7:27]do with the intellect now before we examine the text of the
[7:31]hadith let us analyze the chain because al Collini one unique thing
[7:39]that he does in the book of coffee for every single hadith
[7:41]that he mentions he will mention a chain of narrators how did
[7:47]he receive this hadith what was his link you know between him
[7:50]and the Imam how do we know this hadith is authentic or
[7:55]not who transmitted it and Collini you know goes through this difficult
[7:58]process of listing the chain for every single hadith so he does
[8:06]this for over 16,000 hadith can imagine how much hard work and
[8:10]those times you had to do to trace each hadith through all
[8:16]the transmitters to the Imam every single hadith you investigate who's the
[8:19]source of it who's the one who transmitted it this is something
[8:24]very you know demanding something very difficult to achieve so he spent
[8:31]20 years of his life doing exactly this gathering these chains so
[8:36]we see that in the first line he says aburana abu jafar
[8:42]mohammad abu Jakub Muhammad Amin Jakub has informed us now who's talking
[8:50]here Collini himself Collini himself is saying that Muhammad had been who
[8:57]informed us now Collini he himself what's his name Mohammed Amin Jakub
[9:02]so he himself is saying that and Kalina has informed us now
[9:07]during that time when you would start a chapter this was customary
[9:16]this was normal to let the reader know that who's writing the
[9:20]book who's informing you of this hadith so it's not that al
[9:23]Cunnane is saying I'm informing myself he's just letting the reader know
[9:30]that who what's the name of the scholar who has gathered this
[9:33]hadith for us this is one possibility the second possibility is that
[9:38]these are not the words of Collini these are the words of
[9:44]his students his students who took the book of coffee from him
[9:47]they were the ones who wrote in the beginning of the book
[9:52]of al-kafi akbar anna muhammad abu Jakub and Collini has informed us
[9:57]because there's a disagreement amongst the scholars that this sentence is it
[10:01]the words of Collini himself or is it the words of his
[10:03]students their biggest possibility is that he himself wrote it and this
[10:11]was customary at the time he was just following the protocol that
[10:14]when you start a book you mentioned this phrases you know that
[10:18]so-and-so person and you refer to yourself informed us of this hadith
[10:21]and then for the following hadith she no longer does it he
[10:26]just does it at the beginning of each book so the first
[10:28]person in the hadith is who alkaline alkaline he is reliable trustworthy
[10:36]one of the greatest scholars of all time so we can trust
[10:37]him when it comes to any hadith who does he narrate this
[10:45]from he narrates he narrates it had definite attitude - hey bina
[10:49]if you follow the translation next to it he informed us that
[10:53]a number of our fellow shia among whom was Muhammad ibn al
[11:02]Ahmar a number of my teachers of my scholars have narrated this
[11:07]hadith among them is who Muhammad bin Yahia alotta material apart was
[11:14]one of the teachers of Collini teachers and hadeeth so many of
[11:18]the Hadees that Collini compiled were through this teacher the manuscripts that
[11:23]he got were through this teacher who is Muhammad a burnheal a
[11:28]part is he trustworthy trustworthy or known how do we know first
[11:35]of all because he's the teacher of Khmer Collini that in itself
[11:39]is kind of a clue that he should be trustworthy right because
[11:45]a scholar like Collini who was so careful with these hadees is
[11:49]not going to take his hide it from anyone but that is
[11:55]not a hundred percent proof we need to make sure that he
[11:59]was trustworthy maybe Collini even though muhammad been a hill a bar
[12:07]you know was his teacher that does not necessarily mean he was
[12:11]fully reliable maybe Collini for some reason he knew this hadith was
[12:18]correct and that's why he mentioned it because he himself was convinced
[12:21]that this was a correct hadith but for us this is not
[12:24]enough proof we need another proof yes brother yes that's what we're
[12:40]examining when it comes to the book of coffee it is the
[12:44]most authentic book that we have most of the hadith are reliable
[12:50]yes some hadiths in the book of coffee we cannot verify that
[12:54]they were authentic especially when it comes to issuing fatwa there are
[12:58]thousands of hadith in the book of coffee we cannot be certain
[13:01]that they are authentic so just by looking at the chain of
[13:08]narrators we cannot automatically say it's a correct hadith we need other
[13:13]clues inshallah in the course of this class and the science of
[13:16]hadith we will examine some of those clues let's say you come
[13:19]across a chain that's weak is there another way to verify the
[13:25]hadith yes there are other methods 16,000 of these have they identified
[13:28]which ones are okay so out of the 16,000 hadeeths how many
[13:33]are authentic or not it's not really possible to answer this question
[13:37]why because it depends what your methodology is in authenticating a hadith
[13:43]for example let's say I do my research and it turns out
[13:50]that Mohammed Amin Yahud Allah is reliable so automatically all the hadiths
[13:55]that he narrated I will consider authentic if the issue is with
[13:59]him only another scholar in the house and the seminary can come
[14:01]and he says you know what according to my research Mohammed ammonia
[14:05]had a thought is not reliable so to me all those hadith
[14:12]that you find him in the chain may not be reliable so
[14:16]it's really difficult to answer that question each manager each scholar a
[14:21]jurist has his own system yes there are they pretty much agree
[14:25]on the main points but you will find a lot of differences
[14:30]the way for example that a satan who you would authenticate a
[14:34]hadith is much stricter than the scholars who came before him so
[14:38]whereas his professor his teacher and naina if you've heard of him
[14:44]there was the grandmother and Najaf before I say the koi say
[14:47]there is a student and his methodology and his system he would
[14:52]authenticate most of the hadith of McAfee whereas according to the system
[14:57]of say the fluorine oh you could only you know verify six
[15:03]or seven thousand hadiths out of the sixteen thousand the others you
[15:08]have to look for other clues so it really depends on the
[15:14]methodology that we're using here so Muhammad opinion about how do we
[15:20]know your sister it's subjective but it's based on research though it's
[15:26]not something that you know these scholars are just giving their opinions
[15:30]each scholar when they present their methodology they back it up with
[15:35]proofs you know they will say why they arrived at this methodology
[15:39]so it's not really subjective it's just like any other science you
[15:44]know where you have different experts disagreeing on some minor details about
[15:48]yes to an extent it could be subjective and that's why the
[15:54]layman has to follow the most knowledgeable scholar you know when we
[15:59]speak of tech lead and emulation and following why do we say
[16:05]try to follow the most knowledgeable scholar because when you follow the
[16:11]most knowledgeable then you are confident that their methodology is the most
[16:17]accurate it's never a hundred percent accurate because we're not infallible we
[16:22]don't have the full knowledge but it's the most accurate so that's
[16:26]why it's important for us to follow the most knowledgeable eylem manager
[16:30]or scholar because they differ 'even in these methodologies now remember this
[16:36]happened you know more recent where scholars started to scrutinize the chain
[16:43]previous scholars especially during the era of that bodies they considered everything
[16:47]in the book of coffee reliable Canady is a trustworthy scholar we
[16:53]accept his methodology if he did so much research if he spent
[16:56]20 years of his life gathering all these hadith we're going to
[16:59]trust him on that because he took these hadith from trusted sources
[17:06]even if we cannot verify you know a person in the chain
[17:09]to be reliable but alkylene e because it was close to the
[17:15]time of the Imams he had clues for him those clues revealed
[17:18]that these hadiths are authentic so really throughout history most scholars they
[17:23]would not spend so much time scrutinizing the chain the Senate as
[17:28]we call it this happened more recently where scholars began to you
[17:32]know start analyzing these hadith smore and they're like you know at
[17:38]Collini I'm sure he had some clues but I don't see those
[17:40]clues and so between me and allah subhanaw taala I can only
[17:45]give fatwa based on what I see I can't depend on another
[17:51]scholar you know and the clues that they had so there is
[17:54]really a lot of differences when it comes to you know the
[17:56]science of biography is the science of men and how to authenticate
[17:59]the Senate now Muhammad ammonia Al Abbar how do we know if
[18:09]this man was reliable or not aside from him being the teacher
[18:12]of Collini you know we're 11th centuries away 12 centuries away how
[18:19]do we know there are books written by scholars who specialized in
[18:24]middle age on the science of men or the science of biographies
[18:32]the most important name in this field is Anna Joshi and Natasha
[18:36]and Najah she was an expert about the lives of the Companions
[18:41]and the narrator's he did research about them to see whether they
[18:46]were reliable or not reliable so he was truly an expert at
[18:53]Shaker was an expert and kashi was another expert so they've written
[18:58]in their books that so-and-so companion so-and-so narrator is reliable or he's
[19:03]not reliable he's a liar for example he's a narrator who forges
[19:09]hadiths so when we go to Anna Joshi we see that new
[19:12]Joshi mentions Muhammad ibn Al Abbar and he says certain ion Cathedral
[19:21]hadith he says he's reliable he's a prominent individual he's trustworthy the
[19:27]word feta in Arabic is a word that you will commonly hear
[19:30]when we're speaking about the Senate and the chain septa means trustworthy
[19:34]and reliable so here I have an expert who's nagashi he did
[19:40]his research and he is telling me that Mohammed Amin yeah Al
[19:45]Abbar is reliable so until now we don't have an issue with
[19:48]the Senate let's go to the next one and Ahmed Abney Mohammed
[19:55]Ahmed bin Mohammed was the teacher of Mohamed Al Attar when we
[19:59]go to the books of El Mirage and we see that he
[20:05]was also reliable so we don't have an issue here let's go
[20:09]to the other one Anil Hassan even Mahmoud and Hassan even my
[20:17]boob was one of the Companions of the Imam he was reliable
[20:19]as well scholars like a shaker like Anna Joshi they have witness
[20:24]that he was reliable based on the research at the time who
[20:31]is the next one Anna Allah eben Lezyne some pronounce a row
[20:35]Zane there's two pronunciations but maybe the most common one is a
[20:42]la ventana zine and a la ventana zine was one of the
[20:45]companions of an imam sadiq ali in Silla and he was the
[20:50]student of muhammad even Muslim Muhammad had been Muslim one of the
[20:54]greatest companions of the Imams he raised Alana urban regime he taught
[20:58]him you know for the Islamic law and hadith so he is
[21:06]also reliable then we end at who and Mohammed even Muslim the
[21:09]one who heard this hadith directly from the Imam was who Muhammad
[21:14]urban Muslim Mohamed even Muslim a certify a BA he he has
[21:22]a few nicknames a few titles he was by far one of
[21:28]the most important companions of the Imams he was a true scholar
[21:32]one of the biggest scholars of his time he was in Kufa
[21:37]he graduated from the school of an imam in baka and an
[21:40]imam sadiq peace be upon them for four years he migrated to
[21:44]Medina he settled in Medina to learn from the Imam Ali Sunnah
[21:49]so originally he lived in Kufa but for four years he migrated
[21:55]to Medina to learn the hadith of a debate and then he
[21:58]went back to Kufa let's mention some hadith to show you the
[22:05]status of Muhammad Amin Muslim say many of us today were not
[22:09]familiar with these figures and this is really unfortunate we are indebted
[22:14]to these individuals the Deen the religion of God how did it
[22:17]reach us after the Imams it's through these hard-working scholars who preserved
[22:25]the path for us and we need to know about them these
[22:27]are our heroes they're the ones who saved the narrations of Alan
[22:32]Bates for the future generations most of the Hadees that we have
[22:38]are from scholars like Muhammad have been Muslim and they went through
[22:42]so many difficulties they were many of them were persecuted some of
[22:46]them would be imprisoned just because they carried the message of an
[22:51]inmate so let's learn about Mohammed I been Muslim there's one hadith
[22:55]from an imam sadiq ali salaam in which he says Michelle Mockbee
[23:01]tina.bill Jenna there's a verse in the Quran in which Allah spano
[23:04]Tara says give good news to the most B team who are
[23:09]the moma team the humble ones who obey Allah who prostrate Allah
[23:13]says give them good news the humble ones and Imam Assad up
[23:21]says bestial enmity noble Jenna there are some people that I would
[23:24]like to give them good news that they will go to Jenna
[23:26]they will go to paradise who are they buried eben mahalia and
[23:36]Edgeley number one well Abu Basir Laith alma rowdy that's another companion
[23:42]Zahra is the third one and the fourth one Hamid even Muslim
[23:46]and imagine no this is not from the book yet I'm just
[23:52]telling you about Muhammad even Muslim who is Muhammad even Muslim because
[23:56]this hadith is narrated by who from Muhammad even Muslim he directly
[24:00]heard it from the Imam so let's know Muhammad had been Muslim
[24:02]and his status so an imam sadiq ali sallam he says there
[24:07]are four of my companions give them good news that they're going
[24:11]to paradise Muhammad had been Muslim is one of them and imagine
[24:15]how lucky how aren't these four were such that an infallible imam
[24:25]witnesses that they will go to paradise the Imams would normally not
[24:28]do such things they would not you know especially when their companions
[24:31]were alive you normally wouldn't a where they would end up except
[24:41]these four they had a special status the Imams were so confident
[24:44]of their Iman and faith that they gave them good news that
[24:46]their of the people of paradise the for buried even more alia
[24:57]allegedly Abu Basir lace al Moradi Abu Basir was blind he could
[25:02]not see Muhammad even Muslim and Zara eben ayan these four souls
[25:12]Arara Mohammed Abad Muslim Abu Basir buried so every chain has to
[25:16]go to one of the Imams for us to take it the
[25:23]Prophet or one of the Imams no it can go through an
[25:25]imam sadiq because all the knowledge that the imam had was from
[25:31]the Prophet so everything that the Imams would preach it was from
[25:36]their grandfather from the Prophet so this hadith here it ends at
[25:39]al imam sadiq after an imam sadiq we don't need a chain
[25:43]to the Prophet because he's an infallible imam and we trust all
[25:47]the knowledge that he gives us because he himself in one hadith
[25:50]he says everything you hear that I say I heard it from
[25:54]my father he heard it from his father from his father all
[25:56]the way up to who Imam Ali then the holy prophet salallahu
[26:00]alayhi wa now let's see the continuation of the hadith no Jabba
[26:10]Omaha Allah Allah hallelujah Haram they are trustworthy Allah has entrusted them
[26:18]with his halal and haram meaning his religion well ilaha ilallah in
[26:23]tata at a thorough noble what you $1 sent the Imam says
[26:30]if it weren't for these for the heritage of the prophets would
[26:35]be discontinued meaning the religion of God the sciences of faith there
[26:40]would be gone without these for it is these four that saved
[26:44]the path of a debate and therefore the path of all prophets
[26:48]because the imams are the inheritors of the prophets so this is
[26:53]one hadith another hadith this is truly amazing al-imam asada alehissalaam says
[26:57]when a last sees the human beings sinning they deserve punishment but
[27:04]through these four Allah subhana WA Ta'ala protects the inhabitants of the
[27:10]earth and does not punish them Allah WA come on can you
[27:15]imagine the blessings of these four such that the Imam says sometimes
[27:19]Allah wants to send down the punishment on the people for what
[27:24]they're doing the same for we're talking about but because of them
[27:28]Allah so Allah protects you Subhan Allah these are one of the
[27:32]effects of prophethood because allah subhanaw taala states in the holy quran
[27:36]that i would not you know send the final punishment on your
[27:43]people and your amongst them yah rasul allah because of the prophets
[27:47]allah spanner to Allah did not really punish his people for their
[27:51]crimes and atrocities because of the blessings of the Prophet to an
[27:57]extent the same applies to these four individuals whom new jewel was
[28:03]she IT they are the stars of Messiah what an honor it
[28:08]is that an imam called someone a star of my shia yeah
[28:14]and one water whether they're alive or dead they are the stars
[28:17]of my shia en funa an had a Dean in Jihad al
[28:24]mumineen they protect this faith people who come to change the faith
[28:28]you have scholars like Muhammad have been Muslim who stopped the path
[28:34]of misguidance deviation so this is one hadith from the Imam Ali
[28:38]yet funa an had a Dean in Talal Moline Moline are people
[28:46]of falsehood who bring their falsehoods and insert it in religion who's
[28:50]the one who stands up to them with their knowledge with their
[28:54]wisdom it's people like Mohammed Amin Muslim through them Allah Spano Tejada
[29:00]saved the faith a final hadith that I'll share with you Abdullah
[29:05]had been a beer food he's one of the Companions of our
[29:11]Imam of Sadr hani salaam he says i came to the imam
[29:12]ali as salam I told him o Imam I'm not always able
[29:18]to come and meet you and travel to hear from you and
[29:23]learn from you what do I do let's say I'm in Kufa
[29:27]I can always come to Medina or even if you're in Kufa
[29:31]it's difficult to come and see you what should I do people
[29:35]ask me questions I need to know about my faith what do
[29:37]I do the Imam Ali salam tells him my amnell came in
[29:43]muhammad had been muslim why don't you go to Muhammad have been
[29:46]Muslim imagine when you go to ask an imam and the imam
[29:52]refers you to one of his companions how much trust does the
[29:54]imam have and muhammad had been muslim that he'll refer you to
[30:01]him that's like going to your merger right and asking him a
[30:05]question the manager says go on as so and so person that's
[30:09]big the a man himself is trusting Mohammed even Muslim so he's
[30:13]asking you you know what you don't need to come and see
[30:16]me you don't need to ask me anymore go ask Muhammad a
[30:19]bit Muslim he has the knowledge so Muhammad had been Muslim was
[30:22]really one of the greatest companions of the Imams there is consensus
[30:27]amongst Muslim scholars that he was highly trustworthy and he was highly
[30:32]reliable he was a man of humbleness now this is just his
[30:39]you know when we examine his life in terms of his scholarship
[30:42]but when you examine his life in terms of his flat in
[30:48]terms of his Toliver humbleness in terms of his worship one hadith
[30:51]says the Imam was once passed passing by the message it he
[30:54]saw Muhammad had been Muslim in the heat of the day you've
[30:59]seen the heat some of you in Iraq or in Medina it's
[31:02]brutal at noon time he was in the afternoon he was praying
[31:07]the Imam asked him Oh Muhammad the Muslim what what are you
[31:10]praying is this year why jep's Allah he says no this is
[31:14]my nawafil the extra recommended prayers so these scholars were also worshipers
[31:20]and this is very difficult to get a combination of two for
[31:25]someone to spend his most of his day for scholarship for knowledge
[31:33]for education but at the same time makes room for ibadan makes
[31:37]room for worship so we get this hadith from Muhammad urban Muslim
[31:42]and ABI Jafar alehissalaam who is abu jafar an imam in battle
[31:49]is Sarah so Mohammad Hamid Muslim is a companion of two Iman's
[31:52]Alabaman barter and an imam who saw the peace be upon them
[31:54]he hears this hadith from an imam al barter salam ala Holly
[32:03]what's the hadith it's a very interesting hadith l'm Halleck allah who
[32:11]accosted baka when God created the intellect Allah asked the intellect to
[32:19]speak you've heard of the word octal in Arabic right what is
[32:23]the word I can mean originally linguistically the word doctor means to
[32:30]tie something to prevent something that's why in Arabic they would say
[32:36]Apple and Natha if you were riding a camel and you would
[32:41]go for example to a shop you come down from the camel
[32:46]you had to tie the camel so it wouldn't run away or
[32:49]someone wouldn't take it this process of tying the camel outside of
[32:54]that shop or outside the message it is called a Colin naka
[33:00]it's using a root word of I mean Gough lon now let
[33:05]me ask you this question the intellect the power of reason why
[33:09]is it using this root word what does it have to do
[33:13]with preventing or with tying can you guess why is the octal
[33:19]in Arabic the intellect why is it called out then what does
[33:22]it have to do with this process of you know preventing or
[33:26]tying what's that to control the Neffs you were saying something sister
[33:44]so to prevent from for example the wrong path the reason why
[33:52]the intellect is called Italian Arabic is what you both mentioned that
[33:57]you use the power of reason to prevent yourself to tie yourself
[34:04]from falling into corruption will address the hadith was just explain what
[34:14]the Apple is so you tie yourself and you control yourself from
[34:20]falling into corruption and from being enslaved to your desires that's what
[34:26]the octal means it's something that prevents you it's a power that
[34:30]controls you and ties you so you don't fall into corruption that's
[34:35]the meaning of knocking allah subhana allah says when he called the
[34:42]authen when allah subhanaw taala created the oven he told that i
[34:50]can speak but allah subhanaw taala thermicon idaho acapella man allah said
[34:56]to the intellect come and it came so mciallella who had the
[35:00]benefit but allah says go and it went now what does this
[35:03]really mean when Allah created the intellect he asked the intellect to
[35:11]speak he gave the intellect the power to speak the power of
[35:20]language what does that mean scholars have interpreted this hadith in two
[35:27]ways one is a literal way second is a metaphoric symbolic way
[35:36]an allegorical way the first way that in which we can look
[35:40]at this hadith is that a Lhasa panatela created a being that
[35:44]being represented the intellect now what exactly is the essence of that
[35:50]being we don't know but what we know is that many of
[35:55]the realities in our life even our actions they have a physical
[36:00]embodiment maybe you've heard some scholars state that for example sins when
[36:06]we sin that sin will turn into a physical being that will
[36:12]for example harm us and the graver on the day of judgment
[36:15]and there's a hadith about that you know when you sin that
[36:21]sin could he immediately create a fire for example but there is
[36:25]a veil between you and that fire you can't see it when
[36:29]you die that veil is removed and you can see it or
[36:31]there are some narrations that say some sins will translate into scorpions
[36:37]or snakes in the grave in the buzzer and the purgatory every
[36:42]action in this world in this life has a physical equivalent has
[36:49]a physical embodiment or representation to the contrary every good deed has
[36:58]a beautiful existence to it the Quran for example the hadith says
[37:02]the Quran on the day of judgment and the grave will come
[37:06]in the form of a beautiful creation such that the minute you
[37:11]see that creation you forget about all your misery and pain so
[37:17]the Quran is a book it's a Word of God but it
[37:22]has a physical dimension to it as well so the same with
[37:25]the intellect this power of reason has a physical embodiment which God
[37:31]created created this is if we take it literally yes brother this
[37:37]is so this is if we take it literally that God really
[37:42]created something which represents the intellect and a last spoke to it
[37:46]God said go and it went come and it came meaning it
[37:50]obeyed God in Arabic when you say you know go and come
[37:57]and that being obeyed me in other words you're saying that the
[38:01]Aten is a being that obeys allah subhanho wa taala that's one
[38:06]explanation there's another explanation that says look this is symbolic it's not
[38:13]that this event really happened that God created that then God asked
[38:18]it to come and it came and it moved around you know
[38:20]allah subhanaw taala and this hadith the imam ali is said i'm
[38:26]is bringing it closer to our mind that god created the power
[38:29]of reason and the power of reason because it perceives and understands
[38:37]it can obey the almighty god so it's like if you tell
[38:40]it go it will go if you tell it to come it
[38:43]will come in other words it obeys you so this didn't necessarily
[38:46]happen somewhere you know before existence where God created this thing and
[38:52]a last panel to Allah spoke to it this is more metaphoric
[38:57]this is more allegorical it's symbolic so allah subhanaw taala created the
[39:04]intellect and the intellect obeyed god then allah subhanaw taala says what
[39:09]city you were Jalali I swear by my glory by my greatness
[39:13]ma helped to help and who a habu element I have not
[39:21]created a creation that is more beloved to me than you the
[39:25]most beloved of God's creation is the intellect why because how do
[39:32]you worship Allah through the power of reason how do you discern
[39:37]right from wrong through the power of reason how do you perceive
[39:41]and understand through the power of reason so there's nothing more beloved
[39:46]to God than intellect and the power of reason than the happen
[39:51]it's the most valuable thing God created according to this authentic hadith
[39:56]we looked at the chain the chain is impeccable it's a top
[40:00]hadith when it comes to the chain so it's highly reliable then
[40:06]allah subhanaw taala states voila a command to care l FEMEN or
[40:16]head and i have not completed you darted except in those whom
[40:22]i love you know oftentimes you'll find people objecting to the idea
[40:27]that it's found in many of our hadeeth and doors and beliefs
[40:35]that car god created the universe for the athlete bates right have
[40:39]you heard that or not then at last planet i created this
[40:44]whole universe in honor of the activates the prophet and his family
[40:49]what's that and hadith acusa exactly in Nima scalloped Osama and Lebanon
[40:56]when Arvind Mattea and hadith acusa Allah Spanish Allah says I've not
[41:01]created you know these vast skies the galaxies the earth the heavens
[41:05]except for what for you they animate some people think this is
[41:12]an exaggeration we're taking it too far here we're giving a little
[41:17]bait a status you know that's higher than their real status this
[41:22]first hadith in the book of caffeine sheds light on this and
[41:27]explains why the eye debates have the status Allah says I've created
[41:35]the intellect and it's my most beloved creation and I've completed I've
[41:44]given the full intellect to those whom I love so the most
[41:48]beloved creation of Allah is the added weight why because they possessed
[41:53]the full intellect that's the meaning of infallibility when you're infallible what
[41:59]does it mean you have the full intellect you have that powerful
[42:03]intellect driving you and guiding you to do that which is good
[42:08]and you don't even commit a single sin that's the intellect because
[42:15]the hadith says whenever you sin it's because there you know a
[42:22]deficiency in your intellect not in the brain or not in your
[42:28]IQ no that's a different story by the way when we talk
[42:30]about the intellect we're not talking about how intelligent you are we're
[42:34]not talking about your IQ doctorate is more than that it's the
[42:41]power that you have to see right from wrong and to act
[42:48]upon it that's the power of reason it's the power that allows
[42:53]you to worship God to uphold justice you could have the highest
[43:02]IQ but you could be an evil dictator that's not Akkad will
[43:12]see that in following narrations in Sharma yes brother that is correct
[43:25]many Muslim schools of thought they don't believe in the concept of
[43:27]infallibility but this hadith here is one of the indications that the
[43:36]most beloved creation of God that has the complete intellect is infallible
[43:39]because that's really what infallibility is that you have the complete intellect
[43:45]so Allah subhana WA Ta'ala says I will not complete you except
[43:51]in those whom I love so God creates it let's ask this
[43:53]question before why did God create the universe does God need the
[43:59]universe no does he need us no why did he create the
[44:01]universe you know why would God create this vast universe with all
[44:08]these stars and galaxies and these wonders for what purpose let's say
[44:11]one day you're driving by and then in a desert and out
[44:16]of nowhere you see this huge beautiful city with all these buildings
[44:21]and skyscrapers skyscrapers you go inside you find no inhabitants there's nobody
[44:26]living here nobody benefitting from it there's no one even passing by
[44:31]to appreciate its beauty what would you say you would say whoever
[44:37]built this you know he did so in vain had no wisdom
[44:39]wasting his time because he created a city nobody even lives here
[44:48]nobody even passes by it's in vain once you have a being
[44:51]that perceives understands and benefits then there's purpose to it this whole
[44:56]universe take out the intellect take out the oven the power of
[45:04]reason perception to understand and just make it matter and objects there's
[45:08]no purpose - why would God create all this matter for what
[45:12]purpose it's all for the intellect so the intellect sees this creation
[45:17]of God appreciates the creation of God and worships God so everything
[45:24]in the universe was created for the intellect that's why if you
[45:28]take the intellect outside from the picture you have nothing you have
[45:33]a useless creation why would God create just matter just dead objects
[45:38]without a perceptive power which we call the intellect so everything in
[45:45]the universe was created for the intellect now let's take this to
[45:49]another layer who's the Imam of our time today an imam imagine
[45:55]Allah to an orphanage a he embodies that full intellect have you
[46:01]heard the hadith that says if God removes his Hodja from earth
[46:05]whether it's a prophet or an imam if God removes the Hodja
[46:11]from earth what happens Sasha tell our the earth collapses the world
[46:16]will cease to exist why some people wonder you know okay all
[46:21]this world just for Imam and Mandi because an imam and mandy
[46:28]possesses the full intellect so god really created the world for that
[46:32]intellect and he carries that intellect he represents that intellect he embodies
[46:37]that intellect hence if you remove them from earth there's no reason
[46:41]why god will allow this creation to continue because the full intellect
[46:45]is removed and God created the universe for the full intellect and
[46:49]this hadith says it's my most beloved creation and I have completed
[46:54]it in those whom I love that's the power of the intellect
[47:02]when I came and took her in laughs even ahead and hence
[47:05]by the way you have narrations from the Prophet peace be upon
[47:10]him in who in which he says alwa know my cell at
[47:12]the lenore-- the first thing that God created was my light this
[47:19]is the light it's the light of the oven the light of
[47:21]the intellect so the first thing God created was the intellect or
[47:27]the light of the Holy Prophet they're one in the same so
[47:30]the essence of the animal bait is intellect it's the power of
[47:37]reason the power of perception to worship allah subhanaw taala to decipher
[47:41]right from wrong and then allah subhanaw taala says mi amor y
[47:49]ya can huh well ya co-opted boy Yakko Phoebe all intellect through
[47:54]you I give commands through you I assure prohibitions because you understand
[48:03]and perceive and based on you do I reward and punish allah
[48:06]subhanaw taala will reward and punish us based on the intellect that
[48:14]we have the more we use the intellect the more on last
[48:18]part Allah rewards us and the last panel to Allah will reward
[48:24]us according to the level of our intellect now let's conclude with
[48:27]this some of you may wonder okay that level of intellect people
[48:31]are born differently darah hadith about this we'll read some of them
[48:35]later that people are born with different levels of intellect not everyone
[48:40]has the same level of intellect so in that case what do
[48:46]I do let's say God has created me with a lower level
[48:49]of intellect as that fixed permanent cannot be changed listen to this
[48:54]hadith from Imam al Karim Allah is Salah in which he says
[49:02]men are odd Elena bilham on the one who wants wealth but
[49:05]without money what aha tell that women'll hasit and if you want
[49:13]your heart to be relaxed to be at rest by not having
[49:21]any jealousy in it because the jealous person really is not enjoying
[49:25]his life instead of enjoying their lives they're just concerned with what
[49:30]other people have what they're doing they're not at rest you've seen
[49:34]you know this jealousy sometimes it really spoils your life it doesn't
[49:39]allow you to enjoy your life so the amount says if you
[49:43]want a heart that is at rest and there's no jealousy in
[49:45]it what's Adama 2:15 you want your religion to be upright to
[49:53]be healthy friendly at Allah and Allah Azza WA JAL famous and
[49:57]achieve a new kamila at Allah then he should ask Allah subhana
[50:05]WA Ta'ala day and night beg God to complete your intellect to
[50:09]increase your intellect as this one of the dyes that we do
[50:12]most people don't do these dots next time on lailatul card and
[50:17]i have power other important religious events whenever you're doing dua and
[50:22]you have that state of khushu and humbleness the first thing you
[50:25]ask for is this o Allah increase my intellect because that is
[50:29]the most beloved creation you've created and one way to ask for
[50:37]that is by asking allah subhana wa ta'ala to hastened the reappearance
[50:41]of Adam and Mandi because the hadith says when the Imam reappears
[50:45]it's also in coffee we'll read it one day in sha allah
[50:51]the hadith says when the Imam reappears he will place his hand
[50:55]on the head of people now this could be taken literal or
[51:02]symbolic once the Imam does that the intellect of the people will
[51:06]be completed hence during the era of an imam and Maddie you
[51:12]will not have most of the problems that you have today the
[51:15]evil and the corruption and the injustice why because people's intellect will
[51:19]be completed through the blessings of Allah Muhammad Mandi so this is
[51:24]the first hadith that we find in the book of coffee it's
[51:28]a very very interesting hadith there are many depths to it there
[51:32]are some scholars who will dedicate you know hundreds of pages in
[51:35]explaining this hadith the essence of the intellect and you know philosophical
[51:40]points about the intellect it's a very interesting hadith most scholars today
[51:45]take this symbolic that allah subhana wa ta'ala is bringing to our
[51:52]attention the significance of the intellect the power of reason the power
[51:58]to differentiate right from wrong and to worship allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala that
[52:04]should be the priority of every believer how can I increase my
[52:08]intellect and what are the things that reduce my intellect but art
[52:12]because there are actions and things that we do there are some
[52:18]habits that we have that reduce the intellect we need to investigate
[52:21]what are those so this is the first hadith in the book
[52:26]of coffee it's an authentic hadith it has an impeccable chain a
[52:31]pure chain of narrators and an alum L Collini decided to list
[52:36]this as the first hadith in his book ala muhammadin wa ala
[52:43]Anthony Lamas on Muhammad one you
