In this discussion, Sayed Ahmed Al-Qazwini reflects back on the Pre-Islamic period of Ignorance/Jahiliya, showcasing some of the good qualities in that society that Islam maintained and encouraged like generosity and preserving one's dignity. On the contrary, the light is also shed on some bad practices that occurred due to the distorted moral compass of society, like giving ugly/repulsive names to children and burying young daughters alive. In an extension from yesterday's discussion, Sayed Ahmed Al-Qazwini sheds the light on some good qualities found in the West like good mannerism, punctuality and health consciousness, before shifting the discussion to how morality is going downhill on the other hand in areas like modest clothing and pre-marital relationships. The basis of this discussion is established in comparing the social conditions during the 1970s era in the Western World with the new Millennium, to showcase the drastic changes and shifts that occurred within this time span. In an effort to spread peace and engage in fruitful dialogue that builds bridges of understanding, youth members from our community set up a booth at Dalhousie University, equipped with brochures, flowers and lots of smiles as we shared our joy in the auspicious occasion of the Prophet's Birth.
