Mutual Rights and Responsibilities of Spouses
According to Islam, the family is a small social unit th
at makes up society. This small unit is formed of a woman and a man and is extended by producing children. Members of a family have a close relationship and common goals and interests. The happiness of each member depends on the happiness of the whole family. After marriage, men and women must consider all the members of the family not only their individual selves.
The relationship between a husband and wife is not like that of neighbors or friends; it is much more extreme—on the verge of unity. The Quran expresses this nicely:
وَمِنْ آيَاتِهِ أَنْ خَلَقَ لَكُم مِّنْ أَنفُسِكُمْ أَزْوَاجًا لِّتَسْكُنُوا إِلَيْهَا وَجَعَلَ بَيْنَكُم مَّوَدَّةً وَرَحْمَةً إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
“And of His signs is that He has created for you, from yourselves, spouses that you may gain peace through them and He has set among you love and compassion. Surely in this, there are signs for thoughtful people.”1
The statement, ‘He has created for you, from yourselves, spouses’, indicates the intensity of the connection and relationship. Another verse regarding husbands and wives it states:
...هُنَّ لِبَاسٌ لَّكُمْ وَأَنتُمْ لِبَاسٌ لَّهُنَّ...
“They (women) are a garment for you (men) and you are a garment for them.”2
The portrayal of wives and husbands as one another’s clothing reflects their close connection and relationship since clothes are the closest of things to one’s body and are greatly needed in order to protect one from heat and cold, cover imperfections and confer tranquility and beauty. Husbands and wives are also such in respect to each other and must necessarily be so.
Islam greatly favors the fortification of the structure of family and decent relations between spouses, and thus it has designated specific rights and responsibilities for each. These rights and responsibilities may be summarized within two main categories: common and exclusive. Both of these categories will be elucidated in the succeeding sections.

Korah was a wealthy man from the Israelites who used to boast about his wealth and used to bully the Israelites. Moreover, he did not accept Moses’ call and impugned him. Therefore, God punished him by making the earth swallow him for misdeeds and corruption. One learns from the story of Korah that worldly riches and wealth will not avail one in the Hereafter, and that the outcome will always be in favor of the Godwary.

Ash-Shams is the 91st surah of the Quran, situated in Juz’ 30 , consisting of 15 verses. This Meccan surah includes the most number of oaths sworn in a surah. Most of the eleven solemn oaths refer to astronomical phenomena initiating with the sun, giving it the name ash-Shams, “the sun”. The final oath is to the soul of the human being, building the climax of the surah in verses 7-10. Surah ash-Shams concludes with the story of the people of Thamud who betrayed their soul and were destined to destruction, eternal silence and total annihilation.

The Quran does not present a specific list of "top 10 sins." However, it does mention several actions and behaviors that are considered sinful and harmful to oneself and others. Some examples of sins that are mentioned in the Quran include:
Shirk (associating partners with Allah)
Kufr (disbelief in the oneness of Allah)
Murder
Theft
Adultery
Alcohol and drug abuse
Gambling
False testimony
Oppression
Cheating in business
It is important to note that these are just examples and not a definitive list, also every person is responsible for their own actions and will be held accountable for them in front of God. Additionally, the Quran emphasizes the importance of repenting and seeking forgiveness for sins, and that God is merciful and forgiving.
It's also worth mentioning that the Quran speaks against many other sins, such as injustice, arrogance, envy, greed, and deceit, it encourages righteousness, compassion, justice, and fairness. The Quran teaches that every action has consequences and that ultimately, each person will be held accountable for their actions in front of God.
